中文摘要:本文对四射珊瑚 Yuanophyllum,Lophophyllum,Koninckophyllum,Arachnolasma等四个属,采用数量化理论把鉴定特征转化为定性数据,用特征分析筛选变量,用对应分析和判别分析研究分类,提出了珊瑚分类的一个数学模式。这对指导未知属种的划分和建立珊瑚的数字分类方法指出了新的研究方向。
 
APPLICATION OF MATHEMATICAL METHODS TO CLASSIFICATION OF TETRACORALS
Abstract:Although Tetracorals have formed the object of specific study fortwo hundred years, the results of previous investigations, show certaindegree of incongruity owing to different personal experiences and different viewpoints. While identifying and classifying similar genera andspecies, it was not uncommon to emphasize a certain character andignore the other features to such an extent that even individual variations were mistaken for specific variations thus artificially increasingthe number of new taxa and causing confusions to the taxonomy ofcorals. In this paper, four genera-Yuanophyllum, Lophophyllum, Koninckophyllum and Arachnolasma are studied by means of multivariate statistical methods: namely, theory of quantification transforming the descriptive features into qualitative variables; characteristic analysis selectingvariables; correspondence analysis and discriminative analysis distinguishing the different genera and ascertaining a mathematical model ofclassification. It is concluded that Arachnolasma is apparently independent, Koninckophyllum and Yuanophyllum have common transitional formswhich show their affinity close to Lophophyllum and Yuanophyllum aredifferent evolutional stages of the same series and, finally that Lophorphyllum is by no means an independent genus.
