Abstract:Based on the data from MICAPS weather data, Jiangxi WebGIS radar mosaic, automatic station, and strong weather monitoring and lightning monitoring, the four thunderstorm and gale weather processes on the edge of subtropical high in Jiangxi Province in August 2017 were analyzed by means of data statistics and morphological characteristics comparison. When the echo in the north and the echo in the south converge, the southern echo will develop more vigorously, forming a squall line echo band. On one hand, the propagation mode of the echo accelerates the moving speed of the echo, on the other hand, it changes the moving direction of the echo. There are two main characteristics of radar echo on the edge of subtropical high:short-band echo in north-south direction that sometimes develops into bow echo and strong echo monomer, and super monomer and composite monomer echo. On the banded echo, the thunderstorm gale is distributed in the front of the echo band, especially at the head of the bowed echo band, while lightning is distributed at the back of the moving direction of the echo band. Thunderstorm gale and lightning are concentrated in the area near the strong echo center on the echo of strong monomer, super monomer and composite monomer. The supercell echo has a 55-60 dBZ block echo structure with a vertical liquid water content of 60 kg·m-2. The relative storm speed SRM and the vertical radial velocity RHI_V have adjacent positive and negative velocity pairs and meet the medium or above the mesocyclone standard.
