In this paper we deal with the circular Sitnikov problem as a subsystem of the three-dimensional circular restricted three-body problem. It has a first analytical part where by using elliptic functions we give the analytical expressions for the solutions of the circular Sitnikov problem and for the period function of its family of periodic orbits. We also analyze the qualitative and quantitative behavior of the period function. In the second numerical part, we study the linear stability of the family of periodic orbits of the Sitnikov problem, and of the families of periodic orbits of the three-dimensional circular restricted three-body problem which bifurcate from them; and we follow these bifurcated families until they end in families of periodic orbits of the planar circular restricted three-body problem. We compare our results with the previous ones of other authors on this problem. Finally, the characteristic curves of some bifurcated families obtained for the mass parameter close to 1/2 are also described.  相似文献

The spatial restricted rhomboidal five-body problem, or shortly, SRRFBP, is a five body problem in which four positive masses, called the primaries, move two by two in coplanar circular motions with the center of mass fixed at the origin such that their configuration is always a rhombus, the fifth mass being negligible and not influencing the motion of the four primaries. The Hamiltonian function that governs the motion of the fifth mass is derived and has three degrees of freedom depending periodically on time. Using a synodical system of coordinates, we fix the primaries in order to eliminate the time dependence. With the help of the Hamiltonian structure, we characterize the regions of possible motion. The vertical $z$ axis is invariant and we study what we call the rhomboidal Sitnikov problem. Unlike the classical Sitnikov problem, no chaos exists and the behavior of the fifth mass is quite predictable, periodic solutions of arbitrary long periods are shown to exist and we study numerically their linear horizontal stability.  相似文献

The long period problem provides the initial conditions for numerical computation of close periodic solutions separated in three categories. For each type of commensurability a number of periodic solutions are computed and their stability is studied by computing the characteristic exponents of the matrizant. The Runge-Kutta method for the solution of differential equations of motion was used in all cases. The results obtained are presented for a four cases of commensurability.  相似文献

We deal with the problem of a zero mass body oscillating perpendicular to a plane in which two heavy bodies of equal mass orbit each other on Keplerian ellipses. The zero mass body intersects the primaries plane at the systems barycenter. This problem is commonly known as theSitnikov Problem. In this work we are looking for a first integral related to the oscillatory motion of the zero mass body. This is done by first expressing the equation of motion by a second order polynomial differential equation using a Chebyshev approximation techniques. Next we search for an autonomous mapping of the canonical variables over one period of the primaries. For that we discretize the time dependent coefficient functions in a certain number of Dirac Delta Functions and we concatenate the elementary mappings related to the single Delta Function Pulses. Finally for the so obtained polynomial mapping we look for an integral also in polynomial form. The invariant curves in the two dimensional phase space of the canonical variables are investigated as function of the primaries eccentricity and their initial phase. In addition we present a detailed analysis of the linearized Sitnikov Problem which is valid for infinitesimally small oscillation amplitudes of the zero mass body. All computations are performed automatically by the FORTRAN program SALOME which has been designed for stability considerations in high energy particle accelerators.  相似文献

New high-precision, semianalytical and numerical solutions to the problem of the rotational motion of the Moon are obtained, for use in the long 418.9-year time frame. The dynamics of the rotational motion of the Moon is studied numerically using the Rodrigues-Hamilton parameters, relative to the fixed ecliptic for the epoch J2000. The results of the numerical solution to the problem under study are compared with a compiled semianalytical theory of Moon rotation (SMR). The initial conditions for the numerical integration have been taken from the SMR. The comparative discrepancies derived from the comparison between the numerical solutions and the SMR do not exceed 1.5″ on the time-scale of 418.9 yr. The investigation of the comparative discrepancies between the numerical and semianalytical solutions is performed using the least squares and spectral analysis methods in the Newtonian case. All the periodic terms describing the behavior of the comparative discrepancies are interpreted as the corrections to the semianalytical SMR theory. As a result, the series are constructed to describe the rotation of the Moon (MRS2010) in the time interval under study. The numerical solution for the Moon’s rotation has been obtained anew, with new initial conditions calculated using MRS2010. The discrepancies between the new numerical solution and MRS2010 do not exceed 20 arc milliseconds on the time-scale of 418.9 years. The results of the comparison suggest that that the MRS2010 series describe the rotation of the Moon more correctly than the SMR series.  相似文献

We study the existence, linear stability and bifurcations of what we call the Sitnikov family of straight line periodic orbits in the case of the restricted four-body problem, where the three equal mass primary bodies are rotating on a circle and the fourth (small body) is moving in the direction vertical to the center mass of the other three. In contrast to the restricted three-body Sitnikov problem, where the Sitnikov family has infinitely many stability intervals (hence infinitely many Sitnikov critical orbits), as the “family parameter” ż0 varies within a finite interval (while z 0 tends to infinity), in the four-body problem this family has only one stability interval and only twelve 3-dimensional (3D) families of symmetric periodic orbits exist which bifurcate from twelve corresponding critical Sitnikov periodic orbits. We also calculate the evolution of the characteristic curves of these 3D branch-families and determine their stability. More importantly, we study the phase space dynamics in the vicinity of these orbits in two ways: First, we use the SALI index to investigate the extent of bounded motion of the small particle off the z-axis along its interval of stable Sitnikov orbits, and secondly, through suitably chosen Poincaré maps, we chart the motion near one of the 3D families of plane-symmetric periodic orbits. Our study reveals in both cases a fascinating structure of ordered motion surrounded by “sticky” and chaotic orbits as well as orbits which rapidly escape to infinity.  相似文献

An approximate solution of the encounter problem of two small satellites describing initially elliptical orbits around a massive oblate primary is obtained. The equations of motion of the center of mass of the two masses are developed in the most general form without any restrictions on the orbital elements. The method of multiple scales which seeks a solution whose behavior depends on several time scales is used. To overcome the singularity the equations of motion are transformed to the Struble variables. An analytical second order theory of the evolution dynamics is obtained. A MATHEMATICA program is constructed. The evolution dynamics of the orbital parameters between the perturbed and the unperturbed cases are plotted. The effect of changing eccentricity and changing inclination on the orbital parameters are highlighted.  相似文献

We study the motion of negligible mass in the frame work of Sitnikov five-body problem where four equal oblate spheroids known as primaries symmetrical in all respect are placed at the vertices of square. These primaries are also considered as source of radiations moving in a circular orbit around their common center of mass. The fifth negligible mass performs oscillations along z-axis which is perpendicular to the orbital plane of motion of the primaries and passes through the center of mass of the primaries. Under the combined effects of radiation pressure and oblateness, we have developed the series solution by the Lindstedt-Poincare technique and established averaged Hamiltonians by applying the Van der Pol transformation and averaging technique of Guckenheimer and Holmes (1983). The orbits such as regular, periodic, quasi-periodic, chaotic, or stochastic have been examined with the help of Poincare surfaces of section.  相似文献

A new analytic approach to the solution of the Sitnikov Problem is introduced. It is valid for bounded small amplitude solutions (z max = 0.20) (in dimensionless variables) and eccentricities of the primary bodies in the interval (–0.4 < e < 0.4). First solutions are searched for the limiting case of very small amplitudes for which it is possible to linearize the problem. The solution for this linear equation with a time dependent periodic coefficient is written up to the third order in the primaries eccentricity. After that the lowest order nonlinear amplitude contribution (being of order z 3) is dealt with as perturbation to the linear solution. We first introduce a transformation which reduces the linear part to a harmonic oscillator type equation. Then two near integrals for the nonlinear problem are derived in action angle notation and an analytic expression for the solution z(t) is derived from them. The so found analytic solution is compared to results obtained from numeric integration of the exact equation of motion and is found to be in very good agreement. CERN SL/AP  相似文献

Existence of periodic orbits inside elliptical galaxies has been investigated. Necessary conditions for regular, small amplitude periodic motion around the center of galaxy have been derived using implicit functions and solved by approximating through Taylor's series. The solution procedure requires to obtain functions of partial derivatives of dependent variables with respect to initial conditions. Derivation of these functions can be accomplished through solving a set of ordinary differential equations by proper choices of associated initial conditions. The results obtained show complete agreement with those obtained through the application of Poincaré-Lindstedt's method.  相似文献

In this first part of the work we develop the equations of motion of a triaxial space station in orbit around the oblate Earth. A first order solution of the problem is presented and the method of complete integration of the system is outlined up to second order of approximation. The zero order part of the Hamiltonian includes both the kinetic and potential energy (Earth's Newtonian attraction) of the station, while the motion in the vicinity of a specific configuration is assumed. The solution leads to deviations on the attitude introduced by the oblateness of the Earth. Such attitude is an exact solution of the equations of the station when its center of mass moves in an elliptic Keplerian orbit. The explicit expressions of the complete solution, discussion of other possible effects on the motion and numerical comparisons will be presented in the second part of the work.  相似文献

The rectilinear equal-mass and unequal-mass three-body problems are considered. The first part of the paper is a review that covers the following items: regularization of the equations of motion, integrable cases, triple collisions and their vicinities, escapes, periodic orbits and their stability, chaos and regularity of motions. The second part contains the results of our numerical simulations in this problem. A classification of orbits in correspondence with the following evolution scenarios is suggested: ejections, escapes, conditional escapes (long ejections), periodic orbits, quasi-stable long-lived systems in the vicinity of stable periodic orbits, and triple collisions. Homothetic solutions ending by triple collisions and their dependence on initial parameters are found. We study how the ejection length changes in response to the variation of the triple approach parameters. Regions of initial conditions are outlined in which escapes occur after a definite number of triple approaches or a definite time. In the vicinity of a stable Schubart periodic orbit, we reveal a region of initial parameters that corresponds to trajectories with finite motions. The regular and chaotic structure of the manifold of orbits is mostly defined by this periodic orbit. We have studied the phase space structure via Poincaré sections. Using these sections and symbolic dynamics, we study the fine structure of the region of initial conditions, in particular the chaotic scattering region.  相似文献

The present study deals with numerical modeling of the elliptic restricted three-body problem as well as of the perturbed elliptic restricted three-body (Earth-Moon-Satellite) problem by a fourth body (Sun). Two numerical algorithms are established and investigated. The first is based on the method of the series solution of the differential equations and the second is based on a 5th-order Runge-Kutta method. The applications concern the solution of the equations and integrals of motion of the circular and elliptical restricted three-body problem as well as the search for periodic orbits of the natural satellites of the Moon in the Earth-Moon system in both cases in which the Moon describes circular or elliptical orbit around the Earth before the perturbations induced by the Sun. After the introduction of the perturbations in the Earth-Moon-Satellite system the motions of the Moon and the Satellite are studied with the same initial conditions which give periodic orbits for the unperturbed elliptic problem.  相似文献

This paper presents the procedure of a computational scheme leading to approximate general solution of the axi-symmetric,2-degrees of freedom dynamical systems. Also the results of application of this scheme in two such systems of the non-linear double oscillator with third and fifth order potentials in position variables. Their approximate general solution is constructed by computing a dense set of families of periodic solutions and their presentation is made through plots of initial conditions. The accuracy of the approximate general solution is defined by two error parameters, one giving a measure of the accuracy of the integration and calculation of periodic solutions procedure, and the second the density in the initial conditions space of the periodic solutions calculated. Due to the need to compute families of periodic solutions of large periods the numerical integrations were carried out using the eighth order, variable step, R-K algorithm, which secured for almost all results presented here conservation of the energy constant between 10-9 and 10-12 for single runs of any and all solutions. The accuracy of the approximate general solution is controlled by increasing the number of family curves and also by `zooming' into parts of the space of initial conditions. All families of periodic solutions were checked for their stability. The computation of such families within areas of `deterministic chaos' did not encounter any difficulty other than poorer precision. Furthermore, on the basis of the stability study of the computed families, the boundaries of areas of `order' and `chaos' were approximately defined. On the basis of these results it is concluded that investigations in thePoincaré sections have to disclose 3 distinct types of areas of `order' and 2 distinct types of areas of `chaos'. Verification of the `order'/`chaos' boundary calculation was made by working out several Poincaré surfaces of sections. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We consider the square configuration of photo-gravitational elliptic restricted five-body problem and study the Sitnikov motions. The four radiating primaries are of equal mass placed at the vertices of square and the fifth body having negligible mass performs oscillations along a straight line perpendicular to the orbital plane of the primaries. The motion of the fifth body is called vertical periodic motion and the main aim of this paper is to study the effect of radiation pressure on these periodic motions in the linear approximation. Moreover, the effects of radiation pressure on the motion of fifth body have been examined with the help of Poincare surfaces of section. By escalating the radiation pressure, surrounding periodic tubes and islands disappear and chaotic motion occurs near the hyperbolic points. Further, by escalating the radiation pressure, the main stochastic region joins the escaping one.  相似文献

In this article we treat the 'Extended Sitnikov Problem' where three bodies of equal masses stay always in the Sitnikov configuration. One of the bodies is confined to a motion perpendicular to the instantaneous plane of motion of the two other bodies (called the primaries), which are always equally far away from the barycenter of the system (and from the third body). In contrary to the Sitnikov Problem with one mass less body the primaries are not moving on Keplerian orbits. After a qualitative analysis of possible motions in the 'Extended Sitnikov Problem' we explore the structure of phase space with the aid of properly chosen surfaces of section. It turns out that for very small energies H the motion is possible only in small region of phase space and only thin layers of chaos appear in this region of mostly regular motion. We have chosen the plane ( ) as surface of section, where r is the distance between the primaries; we plot the respective points when the three bodies are 'aligned'. The fixed point which corresponds to the 1 : 2 resonant orbit between the primaries' period and the period of motion of the third mass is in the middle of the region of motion. For low energies this fixed point is stable, then for an increased value of the energy splits into an unstable and two stable fixed points. The unstable fixed point splits again for larger energies into a stable and two unstable ones. For energies close toH = 0 the stable center splits one more time into an unstable and two stable ones. With increasing energy more and more of the phase space is filled with chaotic orbits with very long intermediate time intervals in between two crossings of the surface of section. We also checked the rotation numbers for some specific orbits. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The Sitnikov configuration is a special case of the restricted three-body problem where the two primaries are of equal masses and the third body of a negligible mass moves along a straight line perpendicular to the orbital plane of the primaries and passes through their center of mass. It may serve as a toy model in dynamical astronomy, and can be used to study the three-dimensional orbits in more applicable cases of the classical three-body problem. The present paper concerns the straight-line oscillations of the Sitnikov family of the photogravitational circular restricted three-body problem as well as the associated families of three-dimensional periodic orbits. From the stability analysis of the Sitnikov family and by using appropriate correctors we have computed accurately 49 critical orbits at which families of 3D periodic orbits of the same period bifurcate. All these families have been computed in both cases of equal and non-equal primaries, and consist entirely of unstable orbits. They all terminate with coplanar periodic orbits. We have also found 35 critical orbits at which period doubling bifurcations occur. Several families of 3D periodic orbits bifurcating at these critical Sitnikov orbits have also been given. These families contain stable parts and close upon themselves containing no coplanar orbits.

Some general properties for the motion of a particle in a central force field with a general power law drag are derived. Exact and approximate solutions of the equations of motion are found in various cases. Emphasis is placed on inverse square gravitation and drag that varies with the square of the speed and inversely with the distance from the center of attraction. For this model two results stand out. The first is a particular solution in closed form that demonstrates the decay of an initially circular orbit under drag. The second, found from an approximation of the equations of motion when the radial speed is small compared with the tangential speed, demonstrates the decay of an initially elliptic orbit that is not highly eccentric. Formulas for calculation of the time of flight are presented for the two principal results.  相似文献
