拉萨地块是研究班公湖—怒江特提斯洋和雅鲁藏布江特提斯洋演化过程的关键,但印度—亚洲大陆的碰撞可能导致拉萨地块遭受不同程度的重磁化影响,为寻找理想地层进行古地磁研究,本文对拉萨地块中二叠世洛巴堆组砂岩、火山岩及灰岩样品进行详细的岩石磁学研究,以确定各类岩石是否具备记录原生剩磁信息的能力.结果表明砂岩样品中主要载磁矿物为磁黄铁矿,火山岩及灰岩样品中主要为磁铁矿或赤铁矿.结合区域地质资料和部分样品退磁实验,本文认为砂岩样品可能遭受林子宗群火山和岩浆活动所提供的区域热扰动影响,记录了古近系重磁化信息;火山岩和灰岩样品可能记录了岩石形成时期的原生剩磁信息,有望从中获得可靠古地磁数据.  相似文献

运用主成分分离及线性区段等方法,使早白垩世样品明显分离出二线磁组分。叠加剩磁为喜山期重磁化,特征乘磁明显偏离现代地磁场方向,经倾斜校正后,有很好的一致性并通过了倒转换检验,给出塔里木地块库车坳陷早白垩世巴西盖组古地磁亲数据。综合已有的古地磁结果,获得了塔里木地块早白垩世平均剩磁方向及平均古地磁极,阐明了塔里木地块早白垩世磁倾角偏低这一现象,分析导致磁倾角偏低的诸多因素,认为压实作用可能是导致磁倾角偏低的重要因素之一。  相似文献

泥盆纪时期各板块的古地理重建缺乏可靠古地磁数据,以至于古特提斯洋在泥盆纪的演化过程存在争议,而高质量的古地磁数据定量限定板块的古纬度位置是解决上述问题的关键.本文对北羌塘地块早泥盆世平沙沟组灰岩进行了古地磁学研究,提供了一个较为可靠的古地磁数据.镜下观察及岩石磁学实验结果表明平沙沟组灰岩样品中的主要载磁矿物为磁铁矿和赤铁矿,并且没有重磁化的特征.系统热退磁与混合退磁实验结果表明,样品的天然剩磁强度较低,从54块样品中获得了较为集中的特征剩磁分量,在样品水平下的平均方向为Dg=358.5°,Ig=22.8°,kg=17.7,α95=4.6°,Ds=8.8°,Is=-0.9°,ks=18.1,α95=4.5°,通过了C级倒转检验,对应的古地磁极为λp=54.8°N,φp=251.2°E,(dp/dm=2.3°/4.5°),这一极位置与石炭纪以来可靠的古地磁极位置存在差异,很...  相似文献

本文报道塔里木地块阿克苏—柯坪—巴楚地区奥陶纪古地磁研究新结果.对采自44个采点的灰岩、泥灰岩及泥质砂岩样品的系统岩石磁学和古地磁学研究表明,所有样品可分成两组:第一类样品以赤铁矿和少量磁铁矿为主要载磁矿物,该类样品通常可分离出特征剩磁组分A;第二类样品以磁铁矿为主要载磁矿物,系统退磁揭示出这类样品中存在特征剩磁组分B.特征剩磁组分A分布于绝大多数奥陶纪样品中,具有双极性,但褶皱检验结果为负,推测其可能为新生代重磁化.特征剩磁组分B仅能从少部分中晚奥陶世样品中分离出,但褶皱检验结果为正,且其所对应古地磁极位置(40.7°S,183.3°E,dp/dm=4.8°/6.9°)与塔里木地块古生代中期以来的古地磁极位置显著差别,表明其很可能为岩石形成时期所获得的原生剩磁.古地磁结果表明塔里木地块中晚奥陶世位于南半球中低纬度地区,很可能与扬子地块一起位于冈瓦纳古大陆的边缘;中晚奥陶世之后,塔里木地块通过大幅度北向漂移和顺时针旋转,逐步与冈瓦纳大陆分离、并越过古赤道;至晚石炭世,塔里木地块已到达古亚洲洋构造域的南缘.  相似文献

系统研究了河西走廊火烧沟组陆相红层200个采点岩石的热退磁行为和17个代表性样品的岩石磁学特征,结果表明有102个采点可以分离出A、B、C三个剩磁分量,有82个采点只有一个分量(C分量),16个采点只能分离出A、B分量.A、B分量分别由针铁矿和磁赤铁矿携带,C分量在砂岩中由磁铁矿携带,在泥质砂岩和泥岩中由磁铁矿和赤铁矿共同携带.A、B分量剩磁方向随机分布,不能获得置信水平的古地磁平均方向,为次生剩磁.它们的存在并不影响岩石原生剩磁的分离,也不影响原生剩磁信号的稳定性和获得的古地磁数据的可靠性.16个砂岩采点中不能分离出C分量,是由于后生的赤铁矿彻底改变了由磁铁矿携带的原生剩磁组分,在高密度采样的情况下剔除这些采点并不影响古地磁极性柱的构建和解释.  相似文献

本文对鄂尔多斯盆地东南缘一个背斜剖面的早三叠世红层样品进行了古地磁研究.对逐步热退磁矢量序列进行主成分分析以及各磁组分的解阻温度谱分析,估计了携磁矿物.分离出4种磁成分:镜铁矿携带的沉积或沉积后剩磁;赤铁矿携带的化学剩磁;等温剩磁和粘滞剩磁.特征剩磁(最高解阻温度Tu≥670℃)通过倒转检验、(递增)褶皱检验,平均方向为偏角D=-25°,倾角I=41°,相应的极位置为65°N、356°E.  相似文献

苏格兰当巴(Dunbar)下石炭统含钙砂岩组12个采样点的热退磁结果,显示一致的稳定磁化方向:偏角D=196°,倾角 I=-45°,α95=4.3。侵入其中的一条20m厚的石炭系岩脉,其6个采样点的热退磁结果显示不同的磁化方向:D=195°,I=15°,α95=10.7。 本文研究烘烤效应,论证了上述两个磁化方向均为原生。这与现存的对不列颠群岛该时期古地磁方向的看法矛盾。其原因可能是:1.以往的数据解释不可靠,特别是重磁化问题;2.构造原因;3.持续相当时间的异常地磁场。 对比纬度相似的太平洋夏威夷群岛熔岩流的“点记录”,本文针对当巴提出一种磁化模式:各有关古地磁磁化成分可能均产生于同一地质时代. 火成岩的尖晶石相方向,最可能为原生.它在古地磁分析中应给以较大权重.  相似文献

Two techniques, namely alternating-field demagnetization and thermal demagnetization, are widely being used for determining the stability of magnetization of a rock specimen. Recently a faster and simpler technique known as low-field hysteresis loop and memory-phenomenon test has been developed for determining the stability of magnetization directions of igneous rocks. In this paper the results of this new technique, after applying it to about 1000 specimens obtained from 250 oriented rock samples collected from 42 sites of Deccan Trap basalts from Mount Girnar (21°30′N; 70°30′E) and Mount Pavagarh (22°30′N; 73°30′E), India, are presented.The agreement between the mean natural remanent magnetization directions determined by this procedure and those computed after alternating-field demagnetization has been found to be very good. All the specimens from Mount Girnar and 94% of Mount Pavagarh specimens showed a stable line without any memory in a field ≈ 10 Oe. This indicates that the rocks from these two localities are highly stable and are most suitable ones for the determination of a precise palaeomagnetic direction.  相似文献

A robust finite-element technique is presented for computation of both the internal demagnetization effects and magnetic terrain effects in bodies with arbitrary shape and arbitrary susceptibility distribution. This method facilitates a flexible analysis of the palaeomagnetic deflection problem. Tests on geologically realistic settings of highly magnetic rocks demonstrate that deflections of several degrees may occur even for relatively simple two-dimensional models. Similarly, the magnetic intensity may well be biased by 5-15% by demagnetization effects. The present paper focuses on deflections and intensity variations inside the magnetized body, where we find a systematic shallowing of inclination for bodies with a horizontal elongation. Because the bodies sampled at a typical palaeomagnetic site will have a dominant direction of elongation, the magnetic deflection effect will tend to impose a systematic bias which doesn’t average out. An inversion-based procedure for elimination of the deflection effect is presented. It requires that the magnetic body is quite homogeneous and that its surface geometry is known, as may be the case for historical lava flows. Tests demonstrate that in order to recover both ambient palaeofield direction and the effective susceptibility at blocking temperature it is necessary to sample near strong topographic elements in the magnetic body. Since the surface geometry rarely is known it is proposed as an alternative to inversion that an effective susceptibility is assessed and a horizontal slab correction is applied for samples taken far from topographical features. When shape geometry is unknown and no correction applied, palaeomagnetic conclusions must take into account the possible bias from internal demagnetization and magnetic terrain effects.  相似文献

The remanent magnetization of red colour specimens from five mural paintings in three halls of Bibliotheca Apostolica Vaticana (Sistus V, Paul V and Alexander VIII, 1580–1690 A.D.) was investigated with the usual palaeomagnetic techniques. All specimens have a strong remanent magnetization carried by haematite, as shown by X-ray powder diffraction analyses. Secondary magnetization components are either absent or weak and removed by alternating field demagnetization at peak-field up to 20 mT. The specimens from the Sistus V hall have a very high remanence coercivity, having still 80–90% of the initial remanence after demagnetization at 280 mT peak-field. Two murals have remanence direction close to that of the Earth's field at the time they were painted. The direction from the mural on the east wall of the Paul V hall, painted around 1610–1615, is in good agreement with the results of the 1640 direct measurement in Rome and that from the Alexander VIII hall, which was repainted around 1815, is close to the 1833 measurement. The directions from the other three murals, two in the Sistus V and one in the Paul V halls, are close to each other and to the Earth's field direction measured in Rome in the first half of the 19th century. The three murals might have been restored at this time or their remanence direction is affected by a systematic misalignement.  相似文献

Summary The paper brings a brief geological asessment of the sedimentational cycles, analyses the methods of collection and investigation of samples and the representativeness of the results obtained. Problems of magnetic cleaning and the types of demagnetization curves investigated are discussed. The continuous nature of the variations of the magnetic declination, inclination and remanent magnetization, determined by palaeomagnetic investigation of Quaternary sediments, is also discussed. The conclusion contains the principal facts about the dynamics of the geomagnetic field in the Quaternary and points out the possibility of applying them to the theory of the geomagnetic field, as well as to geological correlations.  相似文献

Sediments spanning the last 9000 y from two sites in lake Vatnsdalsvatn (Lat. 66°N; Long. 23°E) in northwest Iceland hold repeatable palaeomagnetic direction records. The Vatnsdalsvatn sediments have mean palaeomagnetic inclinations of 76° close to that expected for a geocentric axial dipole field, and direction fluctuations of around 20° from the mean. The palaeomagnetic directions are stable under alternating field partial demagnetization experiments. A time scale for the Vatnsdalsvatn sediments has been estimated from 14C dating. The pattern of palaeomagnetic secular change shows few similarities with British records 2000 km distant and a central North American record 5000 km distant.  相似文献

Abstract Magnetic measurements were carried out to investigate rock magnetic properties and paleomagnetic directions of late and middle Miocene sediments recovered from the land side of the Japan Trench during the Ocean Drilling Program Leg 186. Because the low coercive component in natural remanent magnetization (NRM) normalized by anhysteretic remanent magnetization shows that the drilling‐induced magnetization is severe in the sections obtained by the advanced hydraulic piston coring method, careful analyses of demagnetization of NRM using the ‘demagnetization plane’ were carried out to decompose the direction and intensity. Magnetostratigraphic correlation down to the upper Miocene, supplemented by biostratigraphic data, revealed that the sedimentation rates are characterized by drastic changes, with the early Pliocene having the highest rate. This high sedimentation rate is related to the subsidence of the southern deep‐sea terrace of the Japan Trench.  相似文献

Superimposed on a regional pattern of oroclinal bending in the Aegean and west Anatolian regions, the coastal region of western Anatolia, shows a complex and chaotic pattern of coexisting clockwise and counterclockwise rotations. Here, we report new palaeomagnetic data from the eastern Aegean island of Chios, to test whether this fits the regional palaeomagnetic pattern associated with the Aegean orocline, or should be included in the narrow zone of chaotic palaeomagnetic directions. Therefore, a combined palaeomagnetic study of Miocene sediments and volcanic rocks has been carried out. Thermal and AF demagnetization of a 130-m thick Middle Miocene succession from the Michalos claypit allowed a stable component of both polarities to be isolated while rock magnetic experiments showed that the main magnetic carrier is magnetite. When compared with the Eurasian reference, the mean declination of 348 ± 5.1° implies 15° of counterclockwise rotation since Middle Miocene times. The obtained shallow inclination of 38 ± 6.7° was corrected to 61.8 ± 3.9°, by applying the elongation/inclination correction method for inclination shallowing. This result is similar to the expected inclination of 58° for the latitude of Chios. The palaeomagnetic analysis (demagnetization treatment and corresponding rock magnetic measurements) of the volcanic rocks identify a stable, predominantly normal, ChRM with poorly constrained mean declination of about 290 ± 19.8° based on five successfully resolved components. The significantly different palaeomagnetic results obtained from an island as small as Chios (and a very short distance), and the relatively large rotation amounts do not fit the regional palaeomagnetic direction of Lesbos and basins in northwestern Turkey which show little or no significant rotation. We thus prefer to include Chios in the coastal zone of chaotic rotations, which may represent a previously inferred tectonic transfer zone that accommodates lateral differences in extensional strain within the Aegean back-arc.  相似文献

Natural remanent magnetization as a differentiable vector function of temperature is estimated from thermal demagnetization data. Its first derivative is crucial to the interpretation, since the local maxima of its absolute value reveal the temperature intervals where the magnetization is changing most rapidly, but the direction of a partial thermoremanent magnetization may be relatively stable.  相似文献

A method is presented which can successfully isolate components of remanent magnetization having intermediate relative stability in a single rock sample which contains any number of remanence components with overlapping coercivity or blocking temperature spectra. The approach consists of analysis of the path swept out by the vector destroyed during a detailed alternating field or thermal demagnetization run. The point of intersection determined for any two neighboring great circle segments identified in such a difference vector path defines the direction of such a component. Samples cored from a fragment of a Jurassic pillow basalt, shown to contain several components of magnetization, serve to illustrate the utility of the method for the case when the Zijderveld approach is unsuccessful.  相似文献
