We used high-resolution echelle spectra with high signal-to-noise ratio to determine with a high degree of accuracy some atmospheric parameters (T eff, log g and [Fe/H]) for 68 non-variable supergiants of types F, G, and K and 26 classical Cepheids in 302 pulsation phases. Very accurate effective temperatures, with errors of only 10–30 K, were determined by the line-depth ratio method. We found that the observed intrinsic color indices (B ? V)0 can be related to these parameters: (B ? V)0 = 57.984? 10.3587(log T eff)2 + 1.67572(log T eff)3 ? 3.356 log g+ 0.321 V t + 0.2615[Fe/H] + 0.8833log g(log T eff). With this empirical relation, the intrinsic colors of individual supergiants and classical Cepheids of spectral types F0-K0 and of luminosity classes I and II can be estimated with an accuracy as high as 0.05 m , which is comparable to the accuracy of the most elaborate photometric procedures. In view of large distances to supergiants, the method we propose here allows a large-scale mapping of interstellar extinction with an accuracy of 0.1–0.2 m in a quite large region of the Galaxy.  相似文献

The spectral energy distributions between λ 3700 Å and λ 8100 Å of the binary systems COU1289 and COU1291 have been measured with the Carl‐Zeiss‐Jena 1 m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory. Their B, V, R magnitudes and BV colour indices were computed and compared with earlier investigations. Model atmospheres of both systems were constructed using a grid of Kurucz blanketed models, their spectral energy distributions in the continuous spectrum were computed and compared with the observational ones. The model atmosphere parameters for the components of COU1289 were derived as: T aeff = 7100 K, T beff = 6300 K, log g a = 4.22, log g b = 4.22, R a = 1.50 R, R b = 1.40 R, and for the components of COU1291 as: T aeff = 6400 K, T beff = 6100 K, log g a = 4.20, log g b = 4.35, R a = 1.47 R, R b = 1.12 R. The spectral types of both components of the system COU1289 were concluded as F1 and F7, and of the system COU1291 as F6 and F9. Finally the formation and evolution of the systems were discussed. To study the peculiarities of the Galactic spiral density wave, we have analyzed the space velocities of Galactic Cepheids with propermotions from the Hipparcos catalog and line-of-sight velocities from various sources. First, based on the entire sample of 185 stars and taking R 0 = 8 kpc, we have found the components of the peculiar solar velocity (u , v ) = (7.6, 11.6) ± (0.8, 1.1) km s?1, the angular velocity of Galactic rotation Ω0 = 27.5 ± 0.5 km s?1 kpc?1 and its derivatives Ω′0 = ?4.12 ± 0.10 km s?1 kpc?2 and Ω″0 = 0.85 ± 0.07 km s?1 kpc?3, the amplitudes of the velocity perturbations in the spiral density wave f R = ?6.8 ± 0.7 and f θ = 3.3 ± 0.5 km s?1, the pitch angle of a two-armed spiral pattern (m = 2) i = ?4.6° ± 0.1° (which corresponds to a wavelength λ = 2.0 ± 0.1 kpc), and the phase of the Sun in the spiral density wave χ = ?193° ± 5°. The phase χ has been found to change noticeably with the mean age of the sample. Having analyzed these phase shifts, we have determined the mean value of the angular velocity difference Ω p ? Ω, which depends significantly on the calibrations used to estimate the individual ages of Cepheids. When estimating the ages of Cepheids based on Efremov’s calibration, we have found |Ω p ? Ω0| = 10 ± 1stat ± 3syst km s?1 kpc?1. The ratio of the radial component of the gravitational force produced by the spiral arms to the total gravitational force of the Galaxy has been estimated to be f r0 = 0.04 ± 0.01.  相似文献

A new set of 16 high-resolution spectra for the small-amplitude Cepheid SU Cas obtained in 2007–2009 has allowed us to determine its atmospheric parameters (T eff = 6345 ± 30 K, log g = 2.40, V t = 3.25 km s?1) and to measure its radial velocities. The latter were added to the general list of radial velocities (375 estimates) obtained in the last 90 years. Using a frequency analysis, we have refined the pulsation and orbital periods of the Cepheid. Apart from the well-known fundamental pulsation period , we have detected a possible secondary period of . Their ratio of 0.96 suggests the existence of nonradial pulsations in the Cepheid’s atmosphere. Based on photoelectric photometry in the last 60 years, we have shown that the effective temperature undergoes cyclic secular changes of ±200 K with an unknown period. The mean effective temperature T eff = 6395 ± 52 K estimated from photometric data agrees well with our estimate from spectroscopic data. The variations of the mean color index, effective temperature, and γ-velocity (in 90 years of observations) point to a possible orbital motion of the well-known hot companion with the most probable periods of , , and . The elemental abundances in the atmosphere of SU Cas confirm the conclusion that this Cepheid is a typical yellow supergiant after the first dredge-up. Our T eff estimate gives a radius of 32R and a distance of 455 pc for it, which is inconsistent with its membership in the open cluster Alessi 95. The question about the pulsation mode of SU Cas still remains open.  相似文献

Combining Hipparcos proper motions and the radial velocity data, we have studied the Cepheid kinematics on the basis of the three-dimensional Ogorodnikov-Milne model. The results seem to show a slight contracting motion of the Galaxy in the solar neighbourhood, ∂ V θ / ∂θ / R = −2.60 ± 1.07 km s-1 kpc-1, which is along the solar circle. Under the hypothesis of a circular stream model, we have determined the galactic rotation V θ = −240.5 ± 10.2 km s-1 for the classical Cepheids. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Based on CCD spectra taken with an echelle spectrometer attached to the 6-m telescope, we have determined for the first time the fundamental parameters and detailed chemical composition of HD 331319, an optical counterpart of the infrared source IRAS 19475+3119, by the model-atmosphere method. Helium lines were detected in the spectrum of this luminous (m object with the effective temperature T eff=7200 K. This detection can be interpreted as a significant helium overabundance in the observed atmospheric layers and may be considered as a manifestation of helium synthesis during the preceding evolution. Nitrogen and oxygen were found to be overabundant, [N/Fe]=+1.30 dex and [O/Fe]=+0.64 dex, with the carbon overabundance being modest. The metallicity of the stellar atmosphere, [Fe/H]=+0.25, differs only slightly from its solar value. The s-process metals are not overabundant but most likely underabundant relative to iron: [X/Fe]=?0.68 for Y and Zr. Barium is also underabundant relative to iron: [Ba/Fe]=?0.47. The heavier elements La, Ce, Nd, and Eu are slightly enhanced relative to iron: the mean [X/Fe]=?0.16 for them. In general, the elemental abundances confirm that IRAS 19475+3119 is a post-AGB object. The metallicity in combination with the radial velocity Vr=?3.4 km s?1 and Galactic latitude $\left| b \right| = 2_.^ \circ 7$ of the object suggest that it belongs to the Galactic disk population. The envelope expansion velocity, V exp≈21 km s?1, was determined from the positions of the absorption bands that originate in the circumstellar envelope. A comparison of our results for the comparison star HD 161796=IRAS 17436+5003, a typical post-AGB object, with previously published data revealed an evolutionary increase in the effective temperature of HD 161796 at a mean rate of ≥50° per year.  相似文献

We present LTE analysis of high resolution optical spectra for B-type hot PAGB stars LS IV-04 1 and LB3116 (LSE 237). The spectra of these high Galactic latitude stars were obtained with the 3.9-m Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT) and the UCLES spectrograph. The standard 1D LTE analysis with line-blanketed LTE model atmospheres and spectral synthesis provided fundamental atmospheric parameters of Teff= 15 000±1000 K, log g= 2.5±0.2, ξ = 5.0±1.0 km s?1, [M/H] = ?1.81 dex, and v sin i= 5 km s?1 for LSIV-04 1 and Teff= 16 000±1000 K, log g= 2.5±0.1, v sin i= 25 km s?1, and [Fe/H] = ?0.93 dex for LB 3116. Chemical abundances of ten different elements were obtained. For LS IV-04 1, its derived model temperature contradicts with previous analysis results. The upper limits for its nitrogen and oxygen abundances were reported for the first time. The magnesium, silicon and calcium were overabundant (i.e. [Mg/Fe] = 0.8 dex, [Si/Fe] = 0.5 dex, [Ca/Fe] = 0.9 dex). With its metal-poor photosphere and VLSR ≈ 96 km s?1, LSIV-04 1 is likely a population II star and most probably a PAGB star. LTE abundances of LB 3116 were reported for the first time. The spectrum of this helium rich star shows 0.9 dex enhancement in the nitrogen. The photosphere of the star is slightly deficient in Mg, Si, and S. (i.e. [Mg/Fe] = ?0.2 dex, [Si/Fe] = ?0.4 dex, [S/Fe] = ?0.2 dex). The Al is slightly enhanced. The phosphorus is overabundant, i.e. [P/Fe] ≈ 1.7 ± 0.47 dex, hence LB3116 may be the first example of a PAGB star which is rich in phosphorus. With its high radial velocity (i.e.VLSR = 73 km s?1), and the deficiencies observed in C, Mg, Si, and S indicate that LB 3116 is likely a hot PAGB star at high galactic latitude.  相似文献

Theoretical estimates of the rates of radial pulsation period change in Galactic Cepheids with initial masses 5.5 M M ZAMS ≤ 13 M , chemical composition X = 0.7, Z = 0.02 and periods 1.5 day ≤ Π ≤ 100 day are obtained from consistent stellar evolution and nonlinear stellar pulsation computations. Pulsational instability was investigated for three crossings of the instability strip by the evolutionary track in the HR diagram. The first crossing occurs at the post-main sequence helium core gravitational contraction stage which proceeds in the Kelvin-Helmholtz timescale whereas the second and the third crossings take place at the evolutionary stage of thermonuclear core helium burning. During each crossing of the instability strip the period of radial pulsations is a quadratic function of the stellar evolution time. Theoretical rates of the pulsation period change agree with observations but the scatter of observational estimates of \(\dot \Pi\) noticeably exceeds the width of the band \(\left( {\delta \log \left| {\dot \Pi } \right| \leqslant 0.6} \right)\) confining evolutionary tracks in the period-period change rate diagram. One of the causes of the large scatter with very high values of \(\dot \Pi\) in Cepheids with increasing periods might be the stars that cross the instability strip for the first time. Their fraction ranges from 2% for M ZAMS = 5.5 M to 9% for M ZAMS = 13 M and variables α UMi and IX Cas seem to belong to such objects.  相似文献

The physical and geometrical parameters of the individual components of the binary system Hip11253 (HD14874) are estimated. We used the method described in previous papers, which consists in getting the best fit between the entire observational spectral energy distribution of the system and the synthetic ones, created from model atmospheres. The parameters of the individual components of the system are derived as: T eff a = 6030 ± 100 K, T eff b = 4470 ± 130 K, log g a = 4.27 ± 0.13, log g b = 4.04 ± 0.13, R a = 1.22 ± 0.09R, R b = 1.32 ± 0.20R, with the G0 and K4.5 spectral types for the primary and secondary components, respectively. The synthetic magnitudes of both components were calculated using the Johnson-Cousins, Strömgren, and Tycho photometrical systems. Finally the formation and evolution of the system was discussed.  相似文献

A sample of classical Cepheids with known distances and line-of-sight velocities has been supplemented with proper motions from the Gaia DR1 catalogue. Based on the velocities of 260 stars, we have found the components of the peculiar solar velocity vector (U, V, W) = (7.90, 11.73, 7.39) ± (0.65, 0.77, 0.62) km s?1 and the following parameters of the Galactic rotation curve: Ω0 = 28.84 ± 0.33 km s?1 kpc?1, Ω′0 = ?4.05 ± 0.10 km s?1 kpc?2, and Ω″0 = 0.805 ± 0.067 km s?1 kpc?3 for the adopted solar Galactocentric distance R 0 = 8 kpc; the linear rotation velocity of the local standard of rest is V 0 = 231 ± 6 km s?1.  相似文献

High-resolution spectra of nine yellow nonvariable supergiants (NVSs) located within the canonical Cepheid instability strip from Sandage and Tammann (1969) (α Aqr, ? Leo, μ Per, ω Gem, BD+60 2532, HD 172365, HD 187299, HD 190113, and HD 200102) were taken with the 1-m Zeiss and 6-m BTA telescopes at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the 1990s. These have been used to determine the atmospheric parameters, chemical composition, radial velocities, reddenings, luminosities, distances, and radii. The spectroscopic estimates of T eff and the luminosities determined from the Hipparcos parallaxes have shown eight of the nine program NVSs on the T eff?log(L/L ) diagram to be outside the canonical Cepheid instability strip. When the edges of the Cepheid instability strip from Bono et al. (2000) are used, out of the NVSs from the list on the diagram one is within the Cepheid instability strip but closer to the red edge, two are at the red edge, three are beyond the red edge, two are at the blue edge, and one is beyond the blue edge. The evolutionary masses of the objects have been estimated. The abundances of α-elements, r- and s-process elements for all program objects have turned out to be nearly solar. The СNO, Na, Mg, and Al abundance estimates have shown that eight of the nine NVSs from the list have already passed the first dredge-up. Judging by the abundances of the key elements and its position on the T eff?log(L/L ) diagram, the lithium-rich supergiant HD 172365 is at the post-main-sequence evolutionary stage of gravitational helium core contraction and moves toward the first crossing of the Cepheid instability strip. The star ? Leo should be assigned to bright supergiants, while HD 187299 and HD 190113 may have already passed the second dredge-up and move to the asymptotic branch.  相似文献

The speckle interferometric binary system Gl 150.2 (HIP17491) is analyzed using atmosphere modeling and dynamical analysis simultaneously. A synthetic spectral energy distribution (SED) for each of the two components of the system is built using Kurucz blanketed models. These SEDs are combined together to form the total flux, which is compared with the observed one in an iterative method to get the best fit. The parameters of the individual components which lead to the best fit are: T eff A = 5350 ± 50 K, T eff B = 4400 ± 50 K, log g A = 4.40 ± 0.05, log g B = 4.68 ± 0.05, R A = 0.95 ± 0.06R , R B = 0.58 ± 0.06R , and π = 38.63 ± 0.79 mas, as given by the modified Hipparcos measurement. A modified orbit of the system is introduced and compared with earlier orbits. Hence, the masses of the two components are derived from the coincidence between the atmosphere modeling and dynamical analysis. Based on the estimated physical and geometrical parameters of the system, which are confirmed by synthetic photometry, the spectral types and luminosity classes of the two components are found to be G9.5V and K7V for the primary and secondary stars respectively, with an age of about 8 Gyr. Finally, the positions of both components on the H-R diagram are plotted, and the formation and evolution of the system are discussed.  相似文献

The rationale behind recent calibrations of the Cepheid PL relation using the Wesenheit formulation is reviewed and reanalyzed, and it is shown that recent conclusions regarding a possible change in slope of the PL relation for short-period and long-period Cepheids are tied to a pathological distribution of HST calibrators within the instability strip. A recalibration of the period-luminosity relation is obtained using Galactic Cepheids in open clusters and groups, the resulting relationship, described by log L/L =2.415(±0.035)+1.148(±0.044)log P, exhibiting only the moderate scatter expected from color spread within the instability strip. The relationship is confirmed by Cepheids with HST parallaxes, although without the need for Lutz-Kelker corrections, and in general by Cepheids with revised Hipparcos parallaxes, albeit with concerns about the cited precisions of the latter. A Wesenheit formulation of W V =−2.259(±0.083)−4.185(±0.103)log P for Galactic Cepheids is tested successfully using Cepheids in the inner regions of the galaxy NGC 4258, confirming the independent geometrical distance established for the galaxy from OH masers. Differences between the extinction properties of interstellar and extragalactic dust may yet play an important role in the further calibration of the Cepheid PL relation and its application to the extragalactic distance scale.  相似文献

The results of calculations of graphite grain formation in the atmospheres of R CrB stars are given. The parameters for the models wereM=1M ,M bol=?6 mag. The effective temperature ranged from 5300K to 8300K. The chemical composition corresponded to the hydrogen-deficient carbon rich mixture:X=0,Y=0.9,Z c=0.1. The results obtained show the existence of a critical mass loss rate which is ranged fromM *≈10?6 M yr?1 forT eff=5300 K toM *≈10?5 M yr?1 forT eff=8300 K. As soon as the rate of mass loss exceedsM * by 3–5 times the degree of condensation of carbon changes from 0 to 0.7. The finite radii of grains are about from 0.01 μm to 0.6 μm depending on the density near the condensation point, the velocity of matter outflow, and the stellar effective temperature. The duration of grain growth should amount to some dozens of days. It is supposed that the most probable explanation of dust-shell formation around R CrB stars is graphite condensation behind a shock wave arising from nonlinear stellar pulsation.  相似文献

Based on spectra taken with a 6-m telescope, we analyzed the abundances of chemical elements in the He-weak stars HD 21699 and HD 217833, estimated their surface magnetic fields (Bs = 4000 and 4500 G, respectively) from the magnetic intensification of spectral lines, and determined their microturbulences (V t = 0.80 and 0.75 km s−1, respectively). The low values of V t show that the stellar atmospheres are stabilized by a magnetic field, which explains the presence of diffusion processes that lead to chemical anomalies. Helium is strongly underabundant, and its deficiency is −1.50 and −1.81 dex in HD 21699 and HD 217833, respectively. We used model atmospheres to determine the effective temperatures, T eff = 16 000 and 15 450 K, and surface gravities, log g = 4.15 and 3.88, for the stars from the Hδ line, implying that they lie on the main sequence near the stars of luminosity class V.  相似文献

We present the results of our long-term photometric and spectroscopic observations at the Russian–Turkish RTT-150 telescope for the optical counterpart to one of the best-known sources, representatives of the class of fast X-ray transients, IGR J17544-2619. Based on our optical data, we have determined for the first time the orbital and physical parameters of the binary system by the methods of Doppler spectroscopy. We have calculated theoretical spectra of the optical counterpart by applying non- LTE corrections for selected lines and obtained the parameters of the stellar atmosphere (T eff = 33 000 K, log g = 3.85, R = 9.5 R , and M = 23 M ). The latter suggest that the optical star is not a supergiant as has been thought previously.  相似文献

The formation of Zr I and Zr II lines in stellar atmospheres under non-LTE conditions has been considered for the first time. A model zirconium atom has been composed using 148 Zr I levels, 772 Zr II levels, and the ground Zr III state. Non-LTE calculations have been performed for model atmospheres with T eff = 5500 and 6000 K, log g = 2.0 and 4.0, [M/H] = −3, −2, −1, 0. In the entire investigated range of parameters, the Zr I levels are shown to be underpopulated relative to their LTE populations in the line formation region. In contrast, the excited Zr II levels are overpopulated, while the ground state and lower excited levels of Zr II retain their LTE populations. Since the non-LTE effects cause the Zr I and Zr II spectral lines being investigated to weaken, the non-LTE corrections to the abundance derived from Zr I and Zr II lines are positive. For Zr II lines, they increase with decreasing metallicity and surface gravity up to 0.34 dex for the model with T eff = 5500, log g = 2.0, and [M/H] = −2. The non-LTE effects depend weakly on temperature. The non-LTE corrections for Zr I lines reach 0.33 dex for solar-metallicity models. Zr I and Zr II lines in the solar spectrum have been analyzed. The non-LTE zirconium abundances derived from lines in the two ionization stages are shown to agree between themselves within the error limits, while the LTE abundance difference is 0.28 dex. The zirconium abundance in the solar atmosphere (averaged over Zr I and Zr II lines) is log ɛZr,⊙ = 2.63 ± 0.07.  相似文献

High-resolution CCD spectra have been obtained for the first time for the W Virginis star V1 (K 307) in the globular cluster M12 and its closest neighbor K 307b (m pg=14m; the angular distance from the W Vir star is δ<1 arcsec). We determined the fundamental parameters (T eff=5600 K, logg=1.3, and T eff=4200 K, logg=1.0 for the W Vir star and the neighboring star, respectively) and their detailed chemical composition. The derived metallicities of the two stars ([Fe/H]=?1.27 and ?1.22 relative to the solar value) are in good agreement with the metallicities of other cluster members. Changed CNO abundances were found in the atmosphere of the W Vir star: a small carbon overabundance, [C/Fe]=+0.30 dex, and a large nitrogen overabundance, [N/Fe]=+1.15 dex, with oxygen being underabundant, [O/Fe]≈?0.2 dex. The C/O ratio is ≥1. Na and the α-process elements Mg, Al, Si, Ca, and Ti are variously enhanced with respect to iron. We found an enhanced abundance of s-process metals relative to iron: [X/Fe]=+0.34 for Y, Zr, and Ba. The overabundance of the heavier metals La, Ce, and Nd with respect to iron is larger: [X/Fe]=+0.49. The largest overabundance was found for the r-process element europium, [Eu/Fe]=+0.82. The spectrum of the W Vir star exhibits the Hα and Hβ absorption-emission profiles and the He I λ5876 Å emission line, which are traditionally interpreted as a result of shock passage in the atmosphere. However, the radial velocities determined from absorption and emission features are in conflict with the formation pattern of a strong shock. The high luminosity log L/L = 2.98, the chemica peculiarities, and the spectral peculiarity are consistent with the post-AGB evolution in the instability strip. The pattern of relative elemental abundances [X/Fe]in the atmosphere of the neighboring star K 307b is solar. Statistically significant differences were found only for sodium and α-process elements: the mean overabundance of light metals is [X/Fe]=+0.35.  相似文献

We have performed hydrodynamic calculations of the radial pulsations of helium stars with masses 10MM ≤ 50M, luminosity-to-mass ratios 5 × 103L/ML/M ≤ 2.5 × 104L/M, and effective temperatures 2 × 104 K ≤ Teff ≤ 105 K for helium and heavy-element mass fractions of Y=0.98 and Z=0.02, respectively. We show that the high-temperature boundary of the instability region for radial pulsations at L/M ? 104L/M extends to Teff≈105 K. The amplitude of the velocity variations for outer layers is several hundred km s?1, while the brightness variations in the B band of the UBV photometric system are within the range from several hundredths to half a magnitude. At constant luminosity-to-mass ratio, the radial pulsation period is determined only by the effective temperature of the star. In the ranges of luminosity-to-mass ratios 104L/ML/M ≤ 2 × 104L/M and effective temperatures 5 × 104 K ≤ Teff ≤ 9 × 104 K, the periods of the radial modes are within 6 min ?Π?103 min.  相似文献

We report the physical and orbital parameters of the visible component of the spectroscopic binary HD37737 (m V = 8.03). The observations were performed with the 1.2-m telescope of the Kourovka Astronomical Observatory of the Ural Federal University in 2012 and the 6-m BTA telescope of the SAO RAS in 2007 and 2009. Radial velocities were measured separately from each spectral line of the list by the cross-correlation method with a synthetic spectrum. The latter was calculated using the grids of non-LTE model atmospheres with solar chemical compositions. A significant difference in the epochs of observations (2005–2012) allowed to refine the orbital period of the star (7 · d 84705) and the orbital elements of the binary system. We obtained an estimate of the mass function f(m) = 0.23 ± 0.02M . The best agreement between the synthetic and observed spectra is achieved at T eff = 30 000 K and log g = 3.50 according to the observations on both instruments. The obtained parameters correspond to a star of spectral type O9.5 III, with mass estimated at 26 ± 2M . The minimum mass estimate of the secondary component of the binary is 6.2 ± 0.5M . We have discovered a fact that the velocities, obtained from different spectral lines, differ, which is typical for giant stars. Engaging additional spectra, obtained in 2005 with the 2.1-m KPNO telescope, we investigated the effect of this fact on the estimate of the speed of the system’s center of mass. The difference in the velocities of various lines is approximately the same in the spectra, obtained at all the three instruments. The obtained ratios suggest that the deeper layers of the atmosphere of the star are moving with a greater velocity than the outer layers. Depending on the line, the estimate of the heliocentric velocity of the binary’s center of mass varies in the range from ?11 to 1 km/s.  相似文献
