Static bioassay acute toxicity tests of Zinc, Copper and Mercury were conducted to determine the median lethal concentrations (LC50s) of a freshwater teleost Channa marulius (HAM .) The 96 h LC50 and 95% confidence limits for Zn2+ were 25.61 (24.13 … 27.12) mg/l; 0.90 (0.80 … 1.038) mg/l; for Cu2+ and 0.314 (0.257 … 0.371) mg/l for Hg2+. However, these values decreased at 240 h of exposure and were: 21.09 (18.29 … 24.60) mg Zn2+/l; 0.66 (0.568 … 0.841) mg Cu2+/l; and 0.131 (0.103 … 0.158) mg Hg2+/l. The relative potency ratio of Zn/Hg, Zn/Cu and Cu/Hg suggests that fish were most sensitive to Hg, followed by Cu and Zn ions. The acute toxicities of mixtures of Zn2+?Cu2+; Zn2+?Hg2+, Cu2+?Hg2+ and Zn2+?Cu2+?Hg2+ up to 48 h of exposure were also investigated. The additive index and ranges for Zn2+?Cu2+ were ?0.241 (-0.577 … 0.054); 0.056 (-0.269 … 0.475) for Zn-Hg; 0.285 (-0.043 … 0.718) for Cu-Hg; and -0.542 (-1.215 … 0.005) for Zn-Cu-Hg. All the mixtures tested showed a greater than additive toxicity because index ranges overlapped zero.  相似文献

The LC50 of Malathion for Channu punctatus is determined for 24… 96 h of exposure as 10.95… 3.22 mg/l. At exposure to 2.5 mg./l Malathion, growth–measured by increase in weight–is significantly reduced from the 19th day and reduced by 10 % till the 31st day. During the same period of time, the RNA and protein contents of the muscle is lowered by 10 and 15 %, respectively, as compared with the control. In addition to an acute toxic effect, in sublethal concentrations Malathion has also pronounced effects on growth and metabolism.  相似文献

The method is based on the determination of the number of the nonmotile sperms and/or the lethally damaged sperms with the aid of the fluorescent dye primuline. Incubation takes place at a suspension density of 10.000/mm3… 38.000/mm3, at 40°C or 46 °C for 15… 60 min. During the test with sublimate the loss of motility amounts to 55% at 4 mg/l Hg2+, the LC50 is 7.3 mg/l Hg2+. This paper reports changes in dissolved organic carbon concentration β(DOC) and the relation between UV-active and non-UV-active components determined for Elbe river water and river bank infiltrate in the Torgau river basin between 1992 and 1994. Using an ultrafiltration method, the fractionation of the DOC content was obtained for the fractions > 10 000 g/mol, 1 000…10 000 g/mol, and < 1 000 g/mol. The spectral absorption coefficient at 254 nm a254 of the molecular-weight fractions was also measured. The mean total DOC concentration of Elbe river water decreased from 6.0 mg/L to below 3.9 mg/L along two investigated flowpaths. Two thirds of the decrease occurred within the first few metres of the river bed and one third along the 350 m length of the groundwater flowpaths. The a254 values showed a significant decrease from 14.8 1/m in Elbe river water to 7.8 1/m in the aquifer. Along a flowpath, the proportion of low-molecular weight fraction of DOC increased, the proportion of high-molecular weight fraction decreased, and the proportion of the 1 000…10 000 g/mol molecular-weight fraction remained relatively stable. The Elbe river water contained the main portion of UV-active compounds in the fraction 1 000…10 000 g/mol, and this was also the case for samples of river infiltrate. The lake without any outlet (11 ha, 55000 m3, zmax 2,25 m) has a weak thermal stratification with maximum surface temperatures of 32.5 °C. The annual variation of temperature and depth of visibility is unimodal, with the maxima or minima in August. Phytoplankton consists mainly of Cyanophyceae. The LC50 for exposure of 48 and 96 h is 34.64 and 18.5 mg/l Cd2+, respectively. During the exposure to 3.5 mg/l Cd2+ from the 13th day significant differences of length and mass occur with respect to the control. The acute toxicity of copper and copper plus complexing agents to common guppy Lebistes reticulatus was studied for 96 h by a static bioassay technique. The addition of complexing agents viz. disodium salt of EDTA, citric acid, sodium thiosulphate and glycine in Cu2+ solutions caused a great decrease in the per-cent mortality as compared to that of Cu2+ test solutions alone. 10 mg/l of complexing agent was added in each copper concentration in all the test series. A start‐up study for biohydrogen production from palm oil mill effluent (POME) is carried out in a pilot‐scale up‐flow anaerobic sludge blanket fixed‐film reactor (UASFF). A substrate with a chemical oxygen demand (COD) of 30 g L?1 is used, starting with molasses solution for 30 days and followed by a 10% v/v increment of POME/molasses ratio. At 100% POME, a hydrogen content of 80%, hydrogen production rate of 36 L H2 per day, and maximum COD removal of 48.7% are achieved. Bio‐kinetic coefficients of Monod, first‐order, Grau second‐order, and Stover‐Kincannon kinetic models are calculated to describe the performance of the system. The steady‐state data with 100% POME shows that Monod and Stover‐Kincannon models with bio‐kinetic coefficients of half‐velocity constant (Ks) of 6000 mg COD L?1, microbial decay rate (Kd) of 0.0015 per day, growth yield constant (Y) of 0.786 mg volatile suspended solids (VSS)/mg COD, specific biomass growth rate (μmax) of 0.568 per day, and substrate consumption rate of (Umax) 3.98 g/L day could be considered as superior models with correlation coefficients (R2) of 0.918 and 0.989, respectively, compared to first‐order and Grau's second‐order models with coefficients of K1 1.08 per day, R2 0.739, and K2s 1.69 per day, a = 7.0 per day, b = 0.847.  相似文献

In the batch test with daily exchange of medium the effect of copper ions at 2.4 mmol/l (Ca2+ + Mg2+) over 10 d of exposure is investigated. The LT50 values and 95% confidence limits at 3.7, 2.1 and 1.0 ppm of Cu were 26.7 (23.6… 29.9), 47.5 (39.6… 57.0) and 101.5 (78.5… 130.7) h, respectively. Intertidal zones by definition are exposed to air at low tide, and the exposure duration can be weeks (e.g. during neap tides) depending on water level and bed elevation. Here we investigated the effect of varying exposure duration (6 h to 10 days) on intertidal mudflat erosion (measured using the EROMES device), where the effects of water content and biofilm biomass (using chlorophyll-a content as a proxy, Chl-a μg g−1) were taken into account. Sediments were collected between spring and summer (in October 2018, January 2019 and February 2019) from an intertidal site in the Firth of Thames, New Zealand. Longer exposure duration resulted in more stable sediments [higher erosion threshold (Ƭcr, N m−2) and lower erosion rate (ER, g m−2 s−1)]. After 10 days, exposure increased Ƭcr by 1.7 to 4.4 times and decreased ER by 11.6 to 21.5 times compared with 6 h of exposure. Chl-a and water content changed with exposure duration and were significantly correlated with changes in Ƭcr and ER. The stability of sediments after two re-submersion periods following exposure was also examined and showed that the stabilizing effect of exposure persisted even though water content had increased to non-exposure levels. Re-submersion was associated with an increase in Chl-a content, which likely counteracted the destabilizing influence of increased water content. A site-specific model, which included the interplay between evaporation and biofilm biomass, was developed to predict water content as a function of exposure duration. The modelled water content (WMod.) explained 98% of the observed variation in water content (WObs.). These results highlight how the exposure period can cause subtle changes to erosion regimes of sediments. An understanding of these effects (e.g. in sediment transport modelling) is critical to predicting the resilience of intertidal zones into the future, when sea-level rise is believed to exacerbate erosion in low-lying areas. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Monocrotophos (0,0-dimethyl-0-(1-methyl-2-N-methyl-carbamoyl)-cis-vinylphosphate) as an active component of some insecticides is highly soluble in water at a low hydrolysis rate: half-time at 2 mg/l, pH = 7.0 and 38 °C 23 d. Individuals of the following fish species (individual weight in g) were kept during the static bioassay for 6… 72 h at 40 mg/l monocrotophos in the medium: Cyprinus carpio (70), Carassius carassius (45) and Leucaspius delineatus (1.5), and then the concentration of monocrotophos was gas-chromatographically determined in different tissues. Initially, till the 24th hour a high accumulation in the gills took place (in mg/kg fresh weight: Cyprinus 0.49, Carassius 3.88), then the concentration remained uniform or slightly falling here, whereas in the other organs (digestive organs, muscle, gonads) a further accumulation up to 1 mg/kg occurred. Leucaspius was investigated only as whole individuals, and after 72 h their fresh weight had increased to 6.96 mg/kg. The rates of accumulation decrease in the following order: Cyprinus: digestive organs, gills, muscle; Carassius: gills, digestive organs, gonads, muscle.  相似文献

Macrobrachium lamarrei is exposed to 0.008, 0.017 and 0.021 mg/1 aldrin (0.4, 0.8 and 1.0 of the LC50,96h) for 24… 96 h and after exposure the activities of the acid, alkaline and glucose-6-phosphatases are determined. With concentration and time of exposure the acid phosphatase shows an increasing activity up to 170 % compared with the control, which is interpreted as a part of prenecrotic changes in the cells. With concentration and time of exposure the alkaline phosphatase shows a decreasing activity down to 20 % of the control, which is indicative of considerable disturbances of the total metabolism. The glucose-6-phosphatase shows an increasing activity with the aldrin concentration up to 150 % during 72 h; then the activity drops to 60… 80 %. In the daily exchange of the medium with only 7.1 mg/l Ca2+ and 0.7 mg/l Mg2+ during the batch experiment the LC50,96h for Cyprinus carpio is 0.063 mg/l Cu2+ and 3.12 mg/l Zn2+ at water temperatures of 11 to 14°C. Significant differences in mortality as referred to the LC50,12h occur for copper only after 72 h of exposure and for zinc after 48 h of exposure. In twelve flowing water (Q 1.04… 30.4 m3/s, 0.5… 1.2 m/s) the self-purification efficiency in 110 river sections (L 1.3… 26.4 km) is determined as the load difference in kg · d?1 COD-Mn as well as in g · m?3 referred to the daily passage. In the economical comparison, the self-purification efficiency is valued as substitution for wastewater treatment plants of the same capacity. At a mean specific capacity of 8.6 g · m?3, the self-purification efficiency of the investigated waters is equivalent to economical values of 124 · 103… 534 · 103 M km?1 investment costs, 11 · 103… 80 · 103 M · a?1km?1 operating costs and 5… 81 MWh · a?1 km?1 expenditure of energy. The specific capacity in g · m?3 COD-Mn shows an exponential regression to the degree of saprobity (L = 0.015 · exp (1.7358 · S)). From this empirical model the limits of the self-purification capacity of aerobic waters by oxygen input can be detected: in respective examples more than 50% of the required oxygen input are due to weirs.  相似文献

In batch experiments for 6 to 48 h, individuals of Cyprinus carpio (2 g individual weight) were exposed to mixed solutions of copper and zinc sulphate: pH = 6.3, temperature 15 °C, 6.8 mg/l O2, 7.1 mg/l Ca2+, 0.7 mg/l Mg2+. The LC50 for the individual substances on exposures of 24 and 48 h amount to 9.04 and 7.28 mg/l, resp., of Zn and 0.11 and 0.095 mg/l, resp., of Cu. The sum of the biological activity of the two kinds of metal ions is assessed according to MARKING'S index: at low concentrations of the mixed solutions the two metals show an additive effect, at higher concentrations a synergistic effect occurs.  相似文献

In the dimict lake Arend (5.1 km2, 146 hm3, 49.5 m zmax), nitrogen is production-limiting with concentrations below the detection limit during the production period. Phytoplankton achieves biomasses of up to 18 mg/l fresh matter, essential contributions being made by Aphanizomenon with 2 mg/l and Anabaena with up to 10 mg/l. Nitrogen fixation was measured by the ethine reduction technique (acetylene reduction) during periods of the occurrence of heterocystforming Cyanophyceae and achieved peak values up to 6.59 μg N2 · h?1 · l?1 or 14.87 m?2 · h?1 g N2 · m?2 · h?1. The rates of fixation show a safe correlation with the biomass of heterocyst-containing Cyanophyceae (r = 0.88), their development beginning at values below the N : P-ratio of 2.66.  相似文献

The haematological, biochemical, and enzymological alterations produced on exposure of Channa punctatus to LC50 (11.2 mg/L) for 96 h and to a sublethal concentration (1.12 mg/L) of cadmium (Cd2+) for 15, 30, 60, and 120 days have been studied. The fish were hypoglycemic and hypolactemic. The pyruvate content of blood and liver decreased in acute and all stages of chronic exposure except for 30 days where significant increase was recorded. Depletion was noted in the total protein and glycogen content of liver and muscle, and the level of lactate in liver in the two types of exposure. The levels of muscle lactate and pyruvate increased in both exposures. The activities of hexokinase, glucose-6-phosphatase, and lactate dehydrogenase decreased in liver after 96 h and all stages of chronic exposure except 30 days. The activities of hexokinase and lactate dehydrogenase in muscle and glutamate-oxalacetate transaminase and glutamate-pyruvate transaminase in serum, liver, and muscles increased in all exposures. The activities of succinate and malate dehydrogenases in liver and muscles decreased after acute and all stages of chronic exposure. The above results suggest that glycolysis and gluconeogenesis were impaired in liver but glycolysis prevailed in muscle. Aerobic oxidation is adversely affected in metal exposed fish, while proteolysis was increased.  相似文献

In the course of exposure for 24 to 288 h against 0.26 to 2.08 mg/1 diazinon the activity of acetylcholinesterase as well as acid and alkaline phosphatases decreases to 20.… 30% as a minimum.
