Summary An analysis of the existing second derivative systems has been attempted and the superiority ofPeters' method overElkins' is brought out. Some properties of vertical derivatives have been discussed and it is clearly proved that the derivative values are independent of the regional. Finally, the weak and strong points of grid and least square methods have been assessed. Some interesting applications of the least square methods are also described.  相似文献

Summary The significant correlation coefficient between the terrestial heat flow and thermal conductivity computed from the continental heat flow data byHorai andNur [1]2) may be explained as a natural consequence of terrestrial heat flow through a random medium. The theory predicts a value of 0.40 for the correlation coefficient. A simple statistical test shows that the majority of the computed coefficients belong to the statistical population whose mean is equal to the theoretical correlation coefficient. There are, however, a few observations of unsually high correlation coefficient which cannot be explained by the above hypothesis.  相似文献

Summary Thirty years ago, when no easy and efficient process of sounding could reveal them the true depth of a glacier,C. Somigliana tried to help the glaciologist with a formula giving them the maximal thickness of any transverse section. Requisites were: breadth, maximal velocity, slope and coefficient of internal friction to be known. Commanding condition: no gliding of the ice on the glacier-bed. Numerous recent soundings of Swiss ice-streams did afford the opportunity of verifying the pertinency of the formula. Therefore the writer selected sixteen of the most reliable soundings and reckoned the values of the coefficient of viscosity . The results have been deceptive: if however the mean value of differs not much from 1014 CGS usually accepted (afterLagally), the divergencies are very great, extending from less than the half to almost the double (The same is been shown for the recent formulae ofHaefeli andKoechlin). Therefore no secure number can be derived for the required depth. The condition of no gliding is mostly not realized and the are therefore lessened. If however the real value of for the ice can ever be ascertained it will be possible to reckon the velocity of the up to now unmeasured gliding of the ice on the bed.  相似文献

Summary FollowingEason, we have discussed here the propagation of elastic waves in non-homogeneous spheres and cylinders when the curved surface is given a uniform normal loading. The material is assumed to be transversely isotropic with respect to a direction of symmetry, the stress and displacement components within the body may be assumed to depend on one space co-ordinate and time alone. Vegetation is a key aspect of water resources and ecology in natural rivers, floodplains and irrigation channels. The hydraulic resistance of the water flow is greatly changed when submerged vegetation is present. Three kinds of drag coefficients, i.e., the drag coefficient for an isolated cylinder, the bulk drag coefficient of an array of cylinders and the vertically distributed or local drag coefficient, have been commonly used as parameters to represent the vegetation drag force. In this paper, a comprehensive experimental study of submerged stems in an open channel flow is presented. Empirical formulae for the three drag coefficients were obtained based on our experimental results and on data from previous studies. A two-layer model was developed to solve the mean momentum equation, which was used to evaluate the vertical mean velocity profile with each of the drag coefficients. By comparing the velocity distribution model predictions and the measurement results, we found that the model with the drag coefficient for an isolated cylinder and the local drag coefficient was good fit. In addition, the model with the bulk drag coefficient gave much larger velocity values than measurements, but it could be improved by adding the bed friction effect and making choice of the depth-averaged velocity within the canopy layer.  相似文献

Summary The vertical gradient of gravitational field is derived by a corollary ofGreen's theorem from the gravitational potential. For the solving of the integral defined the vertical gradient is given a simple approximation. For practical computation are presented the numerical values of coefficients.
Zusammenfassung Der vertikale Gradient des Gravitationsfeldes ist vom Gravitationspotentials als Folgensatz desGreen-Theorems abgeleitet. Zur Lösung des den vertikalen Gradienten definierenden Integrals wurde ein einfaches Annäherungsverfahren angewandt. Für praktische Berechnungen sind die numerischen Werte der Koeffizienten gegeben.

—Approximate PP plane wave displacement coefficients of reflection and transmission for weak contrast interfaces separating weakly but arbitrarily anisotropic elastic media are presented. The PP reflection coefficient for such an interface has been derived recently by Vavry?uk and P?en?ík (1997). The PP transmission coefficient presented in this paper was derived by the same approach. The coefficients are given as a sum of the coefficient for the weak contrast interface separating two nearby isotropic media and a term depending linearly on contrasts of the so-called weak anisotropy (WA) parameters (parameters specifying deviation of properties of the medium from isotropy), across the interface. While the reflection coefficient depends only on 8 of the complete set of the WA parameters describing P-wave phase velocity in weakly anisotropic media, the transmission coefficient depends on their complete set. The PP reflection coefficient depends on "shear-wave splitting parameter" γ. Tests of accuracy of the approximate formulae are presented on several models.  相似文献

根据自1976年以来全国水面蒸发与散热研究协作组在我国各典型地区的原体与室内实验资料和大量水文站历史资料,通过理论分析和统计检验,确定了影响水面蒸发的诸因子及其非线性相互作用,引入了新的无量纲参数和公式结构,用实测资料统计确定了公式中的常系数,得到了用开敞湖面一般水文气象资料计算逐日蒸发和散热系数的公式。经全国务典型气候带内务季节湖泊(水库)和受热污染水体上原体观测和室内专题实验共1860组日平均检验,公式的精度高于现有其他公式。全文分两部分,本文刊出第二部分,内容包括:公式的检验;水文气象要素对α的影响;水面散热系数的计算和结语。  相似文献

Summary The method of relaxation has been applied to the upward continuation of gravity and magnetic data. The method yields results that are more accurate than those given byPeters' scheme, and has certain added advantages. In an alternative approach, the finite Fourier sine transform has been used to reduce an area relaxation to a series of line relaxations. The results, again, are very satisfactory. Only the two-dimensional problem is considered, but, with the help of a digital computor, the method is directly extensible to three-dimensional problems.Presented at the symposium on Geophysical Prospecting held by the Central Board of Geophysics at Baroda (India) between Aug. 15–17, 1959. Summary General formulas derived for the recombination and combination coefficients of charged and uncharged aerosol particles can be adapted for calculation of the recombination coefficient of small air ions by using an appropriate correction term in the exponential function and by introducingThomson's factor of enhancement of the capturing cross-section due to the central electrical forces acting between the oppositely charged ions.By using this corrected formula for the recombination coefficient, some characteristics of the ions to be recombined can be calculated when values of the recombination coefficients measured in dependence on the pressure are applied.  相似文献

An eigenfunction solution is presented for the dynamic response of vertical circular cylinders to earthquake excitation in a compressible fluid of finite depth. This single eigenseries expansion eliminates the need for a double summation over both the eigenfunctions and the trial functions as required by Rayleigh-Ritz methods. Revised definitions for the added mass and hydrodynamic radiation damping coefficients per unit length are derived from the hydrodynamic fluid pressures. Based on comparisons between these newly defined coefficients, the compressibility of the fluid is found to be relatively more important at dimensionless frequencies greater than unity (ω > 1.0) when analysing both rigid and flexible cylinders having relatively large diameter to water depth ratios,r0/h > 0.25 (squatty type). This conclusion regarding the relative importance of the fluid compressibility is derived from a comparison between the relative magnitudes and the vertical distributions over depth of both the added mass and radiation damping coefficients per unit length for both rigid and flexible squatty cylinders. From additional comparisons with Rayleigh-Ritz solutions that require trial functions, the results for totally immersed flexible slender cylinders (r0/h< 0.10) are shown to be equivalent; but the results for totally immersed flexible squatty cylinders (r0/h > 0.25) are not. The reason for this difference appears to be in the truncation of the trial function series in the Rayleigh-Ritz methods, which excludes the higher mode shapes, and in the definitions of the added mass coefficients. Comparisons with laboratory data for both rigid and flexible cylinders confirm the accuracy of the solutions obtained by the eigenseries in the limited frequency interval above the highest frequency for surface gravity waves (f > 1.0 Hz) and below the first dimensionless cut-off frequency for acoustic waves (ω< 1.0).  相似文献

Summary The electrostatic force between a charged conducting sphere and a charged dielectric sphere in a uniform, arbitrarily oriented external electric field is obtained and presented in terms of force coefficients which depend only on the relative geometry of the two spheres and the dielectric constants of the dielectric sphere and the medium. When the dielectric constant of the dielectric sphere is allowed to approach infinity, the resulting computed force agrees with that ofDavis (1964) for two conducting spheres, and when the external field and the charge on the dielectric sphere are set to zero, the resulting force agrees with that ofHall andBeard (1975) for a charged conducting sphere near an uncharged dielectric sphere.  相似文献

Summary A method called the zero-line method for interpreting the total field magnetic anomalies of spherical bodies is described. The contour of zero-anomaly is controlled by a linear equation of the typeAx 2 +By 2 +Cxy +Dx +Ey +F = 0, where the coefficientsA toF are related to the depth of the sphere and the parameters relating to its position and magnetisation. From the coordinates (x, y) of the various points lying on the zero-contour, five normal equations for the above equation are set and solved for the various coefficients. The various parameters relating to the position and magnetisation of the sphere are then determined from these coefficients. It is expected that similar methods can be developed for interpreting magnetic anomalies of other three dimensional bodies also.  相似文献

Suspended solids contamination caused by runoff below a working colliery in the Upper Clydach catchment in South Wales, U.K., was investigated in relation to hydrological controls. Field studies over a 16 month period found that concentrations below the colliery ranged from 4 to 8028 mg 1?1. Simple correlation and linear regression analysis of spot and storm event samples taken below the colliery gave a correlation coefficient of 0·39 between flow and suspended solids concentration. Because of the lack of explained variance, a multiple linear regression model of within-storm concentrations was derived using four selected independent variables. X1 the time relation of the sample to the storm peak; log X2 the stormflow at the time of sampling; log X3 the baseflow at the time of sampling; and log X4 an index of the storm intensity. Analysis of the entire dataset gave an R2 of 0·34. When the results from three atypical events were excluded however, the R2 value improved to 0·65. Beta coefficients indicated that rising limb conditions (X1) and intense storms (log X4) along with dry antecedent conditions (log X3) represent the worst combination of hydrological factors for producing suspended solids contamination.  相似文献

以艾比湖主要入湖河流——精河与博尔塔拉河为研究对象,分别分析了精河与博尔塔拉河的水体溶解性有机质(DOM)的组成结构及水质参数与荧光指数的关系.利用平行因子分析法对三维荧光光谱(EEM)分析发现,精河与博尔塔拉河均含有C1(260/420 nm)腐殖酸等有机质、C2(240,240/490 nm)UVC类腐殖质、C3(220/280,300/450 nm)蛋白质类有机质和C4(260,270/530 nm)类腐殖质,且不同荧光组分结构具有一定差异性.为了进一步了解DOM组分特征,采用三维荧光区域积分法分析各区域标准体积百分比,结果表明精河与博尔塔拉河EEM的区域Ⅰ与区域Ⅱ蛋白质有机质含量最高,区域Ⅲ富里酸含量最低.相关性分析表明,主要入湖河流的水质参数与荧光指数中,自生源指数(BIX)与总氮(TN)浓度以及腐殖化指数(HIX)与铵态氮(NH_4~+-N)浓度的相关性较强,相关系数分别为0.831和0.684,且具有显著性;HIX与TN浓度的相关系数为0.604,达到显著性水平.进而对相关性较强的水质参数与荧光指数进行3次拟合,其中HIX与NH_4~+-N浓度的拟合效果最好,相关性系数为0.908,其次是BIX与TN浓度,相关性系数为0.844.总之,通过分析精河与博尔塔拉河三维荧光特征,以及探讨荧光指数与水质参数的关系,可为治理干旱区水环境问题提供理论依据和参考.  相似文献

During the last 15 years, more attention has been paid to derive analytic formulae for the gravitational potential and field of polyhedral mass bodies with complicated polynomial density contrasts, because such formulae can be more suitable to approximate the true mass density variations of the earth (e.g., sedimentary basins and bedrock topography) than methods that use finer volume discretization and constant density contrasts. In this study, we derive analytic formulae for gravity anomalies of arbitrary polyhedral bodies with complicated polynomial density contrasts in 3D space. The anomalous mass density is allowed to vary in both horizontal and vertical directions in a polynomial form of \(\lambda =ax^m+by^n+cz^t\), where mnt are nonnegative integers and abc are coefficients of mass density. First, the singular volume integrals of the gravity anomalies are transformed to regular or weakly singular surface integrals over each polygon of the polyhedral body. Then, in terms of the derived singularity-free analytic formulae of these surface integrals, singularity-free analytic formulae for gravity anomalies of arbitrary polyhedral bodies with horizontal and vertical polynomial density contrasts are obtained. For an arbitrary polyhedron, we successfully derived analytic formulae of the gravity potential and the gravity field in the case of \(m\le 1\), \(n\le 1\), \(t\le 1\), and an analytic formula of the gravity potential in the case of \(m=n=t=2\). For a rectangular prism, we derive an analytic formula of the gravity potential for \(m\le 3\), \(n\le 3\) and \(t\le 3\) and closed forms of the gravity field are presented for \(m\le 1\), \(n\le 1\) and \(t\le 4\). Besides generalizing previously published closed-form solutions for cases of constant and linear mass density contrasts to higher polynomial order, to our best knowledge, this is the first time that closed-form solutions are presented for the gravitational potential of a general polyhedral body with quadratic density contrast in all spatial directions and for the vertical gravitational field of a prismatic body with quartic density contrast along the vertical direction. To verify our new analytic formulae, a prismatic model with depth-dependent polynomial density contrast and a polyhedral body in the form of a triangular prism with constant contrast are tested. Excellent agreements between results of published analytic formulae and our results are achieved. Our new analytic formulae are useful tools to compute gravity anomalies of complicated mass density contrasts in the earth, when the observation sites are close to the surface or within mass bodies.  相似文献

Summary The problem of the particle distribution restoration by the dependence of the extinction coefficient computed from exactMie formulae (when the absorption is absent) on wave length is considered. The transparency method is used. As an example the inversion of the polydisperse extinction coefficient for two models with the normal logarithmic distribution has been made. Summary After having recalled the extension to a spatial potential field ofLegender's formulae solving the first fundamental problem in Geodesy, the author applies such formulae toSomigliana's field, which admits the ellipsoid as one of the equipotential surfaces of the family. Such application represents the most natural extension to a three-dimensional field of the classical ellipsoidal surface formulae, and agrees with the international adoption ofSomigliana's field in dynamic Geodesy.
