Adynamical systemin the case of quadrupolar symmetry of the toroidal field is constructed. The system obtained reproduces the regimes of oscillations, vacillations, dynamo bursts, and a configuration with monotonically growing magnetic fields reaching stationary regimes. The ranges of dynamo numbers corresponding to these regimes are found. Butterfly diagrams for the steady-oscillation regime are constructed for both the poloidal and toroidal components of the magnetic field.  相似文献

A dynamic system for the Parker dynamo including meridional circulation that is applicable to astrophysical objects is constructed. The meridional circulation is able to control the regimes for the generation of magnetic fields. If the meridional flows are weak, regimes with steady oscillations, dynamo bursts, fluctuations, and chaotic components are possible. When the meridional circulation is strengthened, the range of dynamo numbers required for fluctuations and dynamo bursts is reduced, and gradually vanishes; at the same time, the range required for oscillations is increased and raised to higher dynamo numbers. The latitude-time distributions of the toroidal and poloidal magnetic fields for steady oscillations are presented.  相似文献

A model for the generation of large-scale magnetic fields is constructed for the galaxy NGC 5775, in which the magnetic field has the form of a dipolar dynamo wave propagating along the galactic disk. The excitation of such a mode, which is unusual for galactic dynamos, can be explained by the strong variation of the galactic rotation with height above the plane of symmetry of the galactic disk.  相似文献

Differential-rotation and dynamo models are computed for a young, solar-mass star at the initial stage of the formation of its radiative core. It is argued that the global magnetic fields in the radiative zones of the contemporary Sun and similar stars are due to the action of a hydromagnetic dynamo at early evolutionary stages. Our computations suggest that this field should be nonaxisymmetric. Physical reasons for departures from axial symmetry are discussed in detail. It is suggested that nonaxisymmetric relic fields are responsible for the phenomenon of active longitudes.  相似文献

The influence of close passages of galaxies on the shapes of disk galaxies and the distribution of stars in them is studied for several types of interactions in the framework of the restricted N-body problem. Depending on the conditions adopted, either two spiral density waves or ring structures are formed in the stellar disk of the galaxy. These structures can generate star formation fronts with the corresponding shape, as are observed in disk galaxies. Our calculations can also be applied to study the influence of the passage of a nearby star on a protoplanetary disk. The formation of ring structures there could specify the type of planet formation in the outer regions of the planetary system and the distribution of semimajor axes for the planetary orbits. We use the same model to study the generation and evolution of spiral density waves in the stellar disks of galaxies as a result of the recently found asymmetry of the gravitational potential in the massive dark haloes in disk galaxies. The dipole component of the gravitational field of the halo can continuously permanently generate the spiral structure in disk galaxies.  相似文献

Surface photometry data are presented for 12 southern lenticular galaxies located in regions of low density. Digital images in the gri bands were obtained on the LCOGT network of meter-class telescopes. Structural parameters of the global stellar disks of the galaxies are calculated—the exponential scale and relative thickness. The presence of substructure in the disks is noted; in particular, more than half the studied galaxies possess ring structures, sometimes more than one. The color maps presented indicate complex evolution of the substructure of the disks of lenticular galaxies: they can be classified as blue (ongoing star formation) or red (concentration of dust). The rings do not always lie in the main plane of the disk; there are cases of clearly inclined, or even polar, compact rings.  相似文献

The results of three-dimensional MHD numerical simulations are used to investigate the characteristic properties of the magnetic-field structures in the accretion disks of semi-detached binary systems. It is assumed that the intrinsic magnetic field of the accretor star is dipolar. Turbulent diffusion of the magnetic field in the disk is taken into account. The SS Cyg system is considered as an example. The results of the numerical simulations show the intense generation of a predominantly toroidal magnetic field in the accretion disk. Magnetic zones with well defined structures for the toroidal magnetic field form in the disk, which are separated by current sheets in which there ismagnetic reconnection and current dissipation. Possible observational manifestations of such structures are discussed. It is shown that the interaction of a spiral precessional wave with the accretor’s magnetosphere could lead to quasi-periodic oscillations of the accretion rate.  相似文献

Dynamo waves approaching the solar poles are analyzed in the Parker approximation taking into account meridional circulation. Asymptotic solutions of the equations describing the generation of the magnetic field are constructed. It is shown in which cases the effect of meridional circulation results in traveling dynamo waves both incident on and reflected from the pole, or in a superposition of standing dynamo waves.  相似文献

The formation of ring structures in galactic disks is investigated. It is shown that, in addition to the known mechanism of forming rings in “head-on” collisions between galaxies, ring structures can be formed during close passages of galaxies if the perturbing galaxy moves in a plane close to the equatorial plane of the perturbed disk galaxy, opposite to the direction of rotation of the disk. Numerical simulations of the formation of structures in the disk of a massive galaxy undergoing a passage with another galaxy are considered. The results of these cmputations show the formation of pronounced ring structures in the galactic disk when the initial inclination of the trajectory of the perturbing galaxy to the equatorial plane of the perturbed galaxy is no more than ~25°. However, the probability of close passages of galaxies with these parameters is small, as is the probability of head-on collisions. The characteristic time scale for the existence of pronounced rings is of order the dynamical time scale at the edge of the galaxy, 200–300 million years, close to the corresponding time for head-on collisions. The evolution of the rings has the same character in both cases: they gradually expand and move toward the periphery of the galaxy. The results of these simulations can also be applied to a close passage of one star by another star with a protoplanetary disk. According to the computation results, the characteristic time scale for the existence of pronounced rings in such a protoplanetary disk depends mainly on the size of the disk; this time scale can reach several tens of thousands of years for a disk radius of about 1000 AU. The formation of ring structures in such a disk could influence the formation and evolution of planetesimals, and possibly the character of the formation of planets and the distribution of their orbital semi-major axes.  相似文献

We consider a solar dynamo mechanism that generates large-scale magnetic fields due to the combined action of cyclonic flows (the α effect), differential rotation (the Θ effect), and the non-uniformity of large-scale magnetic fields (the Θ × J effect). Our results are based on numerical model which takes into account currently available data on the differential rotation of the convection zone and the intensity of convective flows in the solar interior. A reasonable choice of parameters characterizing the intensity of magnetic-field generation by the α and Θ × J mechanisms can account for an oscillatory dynamo regime with properties similar to the 22-year magnetic-activity cycle of the Sun. We analyze the nonlinear saturation of the generation effects in the large-scale magnetic field, due to either magnetic stresses or the conservation of magnetic helicity. Allowance for the helicity of the small-scale magnetic fields is of crucial importance in limiting the energy of the generated large-scale magnetic field.  相似文献

At the present time, the induction of several microgauss in large-scale fields of the Galaxy has been repeatedly confirmed. There are numerous arguments in favor of the fact that the magnetic field exhibits so-called reversals associated with a direction change from one region to another. Such configurations are allowed in the nonlinear equations context of the dynamo theory, which describes the large-scale magnetic-field evolution. In the present study, reversals are modeled using the so-called no-z approximation based on the fact that the galactic disk is sufficiently thin. The magnetic field generation that exhibit both single and double sign changes with distance from the center is observed. From an observational point of view, one of the main methods for studying magnetic fields is to gauge the Faraday rotation measure of radio waves coming from pulsars. Its value can characterize the integral magnitude of the magnetic field, and the sign indicates its direction. A study of the pulsar distribution with large Faraday rotation measures ($$\left| {RM} \right| > 200$$ rad/m2) is presented. The results indicate that there is a region of $$4.8\;{\text{kpc}} < r < 7.3\;{\text{kpc}}$$ in the Galaxy in which the magnetic field is oriented counterclockwise. At the ring edges, the magnetic field reverses its direction. These results are in close agreement both with theoretical concepts and other studies dedicated to the structure observations of the magnetic field in the Galaxy.  相似文献

A mixing-length approximation is used to calculate Kλ for a Parker dynamo wave excited by the dynamo mechanism near the base of the solar convection zone (K is the wave number of the dynamo wave and λ the extent of the dynamo region). In a turbulent-dynamo model, this number characterizes the modes of the global magnetic field generated by a mechanism based on the joint action of the mean helical turbulence and solar differential rotation. Estimates are obtained for the helicity and radial angular-velocity gradient using the most recent helioseismological measurements at the growth phase of solar cycle 23. These estimates indicate that the dynamo mechanism most efficiently excites the fundamental antisymmetric (odd), dipole, mode of the poloidal field (Kλ≈?7) at low latitudes, while the conditions at latitudes above 50° are more favorable for the excitation of the lowest symmetric (even), quadrupole, mode (Kλ≈+8). The resulting north-south asymmetry of the poloidal field can explain the magnetic anomaly (“monopole” structure) of the polar fields observed near solar-cycle maxima. The effect of α quenching increases the calculated period of the dynamo-wave propagation from middle latitudes to the equator to about seven years, in rough agreement with the observed duration of the solar cycle.  相似文献

It is shown that, when all components of the large-scale solar magnetic field are longitudinally averaged, the N polarity and the eastward transverse component of the B φ field associated with both local and large-scale fields over the Northern hemisphere are somewhat stronger and occupy a smaller area during odd cycles than does the field of opposite polarity. This behavior is reversed for even cycles or the Southern hemisphere. The regular Hale law is a particular form of the above rule. The nature of this asymmetry seems to be rooted in the dynamo mechanism itself, and should be important for fields on any scale.  相似文献

We investigate the nature of bright radio sources with known radio spectra in the direction of the nearby cluster of galaxies A569 (z=0.0193). The optical identifications of the sources show that 45% of these radio sources are associated with compact galaxies. A substantial fraction of these galaxies have active nuclei, with the radio emission concentrated toward the galactic center. Some of the cluster galaxies have radio halos, with appreciably weaker radio powers and spectral indices α=0.95±0.2. We compute the magnetic fields in the nuclei and halos of the galaxies for the adopted distance to A569. As expected, the magnetic fields in the galactic halos make a smooth transition to the intergalactic field, while the magnetic fields in the central regions of the galaxies rise sharply toward the nucleus.  相似文献

The planet Mars lacks, today, a planetary, dynamic magnetic field, but strong, intense, localized magnetic fields of lithospheric origin, one to two orders of magnitude larger than the terrestrial lithospheric field, are present. This lithospheric magnetic field is the result of magnetization processes in the presence of a magnetic dynamo and of demagnetization processes after the dynamo shutdown, such as impact or volcanoes. This crude scenario can be more accurately specified by interpreting global and local models of the current magnetic field of Mars. Some specific areas are studied, including the intensely magnetized Terra Sirenum, as well as the magnetic anomaly associated with Apollinaris Patera. Magnetic minerals could be of primary and/or secondary origin; this latter would imply an early hydration of a basaltic crust. A scenario, in which Mars experienced a major polar wander due to the Tharsis bulge, prior to the cessation of its dynamo, is proposed and discussed.  相似文献

The magnetic-field structure in regions of stationary, planar accretion disks around active galactic nuclei where general-relativistic effects can be neglected (from 10 to 200 gravitational radii) is considered. It is assumed that the magnetic field in the outer edges of the disk, which forms in the magnetosphere of the central black hole during the creation of the relativisitic jets, corresponds to the field of a magnetic dipole perpendicular to the plane of the disk. In this case, the azimuthal field component Bφ in the disk arises due to the presence of the radial field Bρ and the azimuthal velocity component Uφ. The value of the magnetic field at the inner radius of the disk is taken to correspond to the solution of the induction equation in a diffusion approximation. Numerical solutions of the induction equation are given for a number of cases.  相似文献

The results of numerical simulations of supersonic, gas-dynamical processes occurring in the disks of spiral galaxies are presented. Qualitative and quantitative pictures of morphological features in the structure formed by a two-armed gravitational potential are given. A gas-dynamical interpretation of a quasi-stationary configuration containing two shock fronts separated by a contact discontinuity is discussed. This type of supersonic configuration with three jumps can form and produce a spiral pattern with six arms displaying global two-fold symmetry. An economical method has been used to calculate the complex, non-stationary, supersonic gas flows using a fully conservative difference scheme to solve the appreciably divergent gas-dynamical equations in the Euler variables in an axially symmetric approximation.  相似文献

Recent data from the Kepler mission has revealed the occurrence of superflares in Sun-like stars which exceed by far any observed solar flares in released energy. Radionuclide data do not provide evidence for occurrence of superflares on the Sun over the past eleven millennia. Stellar data for a subgroup of superflaring Kepler stars are analysed in an attempt to find possible progenitors of their abnormal magnetic activity. A natural idea is that the dynamo mechanism in superflaring stars differs in some respect from that in the Sun. We search for a difference in the dynamo-related parameters between superflaring stars and the Sun to suggest a dynamo mechanism as close as possible to the conventional solar/stellar dynamo but capable of providing much higher magnetic energy. Dynamo based on joint action of differential rotation and mirror asymmetric motions can in principle result in excitation of two types of magnetic fields. First of all, it is well-known in solar physics dynamo waves. The point is that another magnetic configuration with initial growth and further stabilisation can also be excited. For comparable conditions, magnetic field of second configuration is much stronger than that of the first one just because dynamo does not spend its energy for periodic magnetic field inversions but uses it for magnetic field growth. We analysed available data from the Kepler mission concerning the superflaring stars in order to find tracers of anomalous magnetic activity. As suggested in a recent paper [1], we find that anti-solar differential rotation or anti-solar sign of the mirror-asymmetry of stellar convection can provide the desired strong magnetic field in dynamo models. We confirm this concept by numerical models of stellar dynamos with corresponding governing parameters. We conclude that the proposed mechanism can plausibly explain the superflaring events at least for some cool stars, including binaries, subgiants and, possibly, low-mass stars and young rapid rotators.  相似文献
