An advanced context-sensitive classification technique that exploits a temporal series of remote sensing images for a regular updating of land-cover maps is proposed. This technique extends the use of spatio-contextual information to the framework of partially supervised approaches (that are capable of addressing the updating problem under the realistic, though critical, constraint that no ground-truth information is available for some of the images to be classified). The proposed classifier is based on an iterative partially supervised algorithm that jointly estimates the class-conditional densities and the prior model for the class labels on the image to be classified by taking into account spatio-contextual information. Experimental results point out that the proposed technique is effective and that it significantly outperforms the context-insensitive partially supervised approaches presented in the literature.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new fuzzy cascade multitemporal classification method based on Fuzzy Markov Chains. This method differs from prior fuzzy multitemporal approaches proposed thus far, as the method does not require the knowledge of the true class at an earlier date; instead it uses the attributes of the image object being classified at the earlier date. This method combines the fuzzy, non-temporal, classification of a geographical region at two points in time to provide a single unified result. A transformation law based on class transition possibilities projects the earlier classification onto the later date before combining both results. Performance analysis was conducted upon a sequence of three LANDSAT images from the central region of Brazil using a Genetic Algorithm to estimate transition possibilities. The analysis showed that the increase in performance is highly dependent on whether or not a significant correlation exists between the temporal data sets, as well as on the accuracy of the monotemporal classifier at the earlier date. While the monotemporal approach used in the experiments attained an average class accuracy of approximately 55%, the multitemporal scheme achieved between 65% and 95%. Similar results in terms of overall accuracy were also observed. Furthermore, compared to two alternative cascade multitemporal classification approaches, the proposed method consistently showed better results.  相似文献

This letter presents a novel parcel-based context-sensitive technique for unsupervised change detection in very high geometrical resolution images. In order to improve pixel-based change-detection performance, we propose to exploit the spatial-context information in the framework of a multilevel approach. The proposed technique models the scene (and hence changes) at different resolution levels defining multitemporal and multilevel ldquoparcelsrdquo (i.e., small homogeneous regions shared by both original images). Change detection is achieved by applying a multilevel change vector analysis to each pixel of the considered images. This technique properly analyzes the multilevel and multitemporal parcel-based context information of the considered spatial position. The adaptive nature of multitemporal parcels and their multilevel representation allow one a proper modeling of complex objects in the investigated scene as well as borders and details of the changed areas. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach.  相似文献

GIS中地图数据库的变化检测和更新一直为人们所关注,它的重要性来源于空间信息系统的多时相分析、动态监测以及保证地学空间数据的现势性要求。在本文中首先讨论了彩色扫描地图数据接颜色信息进行自动分层,在此基础上用RLS(Run-lengthSmearing)变换对黑色要素层进行了进一步的识别与提取,然后运用图像理解和已提取出的GIS中数字地图的先验知识,提出了一种利用现势性较好的航空像片自动发现数字地图中居民地变化的方法,进而更新GIS。实验结果证明了该方法的有效性。  相似文献

In this paper, a novel change detection approach is proposed for multitemporal synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The approach is based on two difference images, which are constructed through intensity and texture information, respectively. In the extraction of the texture differences, robust principal component analysis technique is used to separate irrelevant and noisy elements from Gabor responses. Then graph cuts are improved by a novel energy function based on multivariate generalized Gaussian model for more accurately fitting. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proved by the experiment results obtained on several real SAR images data sets.  相似文献

Spatial contextual feature plays an important role in high resolution remote sensing image. A new approach based on local variance analysis is introduced to spatial contextual feature extraction for change detection in this paper. In the proposed approach, the change magnitude between the paired central pixels of a local area (e.g., a 3 × 3 sliding window) in multitemporal images depends on surrounding pixels in the difference image, and this change magnitude is quantitatively measured based on the standard deviation of the difference image within the local area. This difference image contextual property may be useful particularly when high-resolution images are used. Finally, the change magnitude image is classified as a binary CD map by using SVM. This proposed approach is applied to SPOT-5 multitemporal datasets and two QuickBird multitemporal images from two case studies, which are quantitatively compared and validated. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is feasible.  相似文献

A general method has been proposed recently for the contextual reconstruction of cloud-contaminated areas in multitemporal multispectral images. It is based on the idea of making the prediction process learn from information available in the cloud-free neighborhood of contaminated areas. Though promising, this method does not fully exploit all available information, thus leaving room for further methodological enhancements. This letter presents a postreconstruction methodology for improving the contextual reconstruction process by opportunely capturing spatial and spectral correlations characterizing the considered image. In addition, we propose a solution to a problem that has not yet been addressed in the remote sensing literature, i.e., the generation of an error map beside the reconstructed images to provide end-users with helpful indications about reconstruction reliability. Thorough experiments conducted on a multitemporal sequence of Landsat-7 ETM+ images are reported and discussed.  相似文献

This paper describes the fusion of information extracted from multispectral digital aerial images for highly automatic 3D map generation. The proposed approach integrates spectral classification and 3D reconstruction techniques. The multispectral digital aerial images consist of a high resolution panchromatic channel as well as lower resolution RGB and near infrared (NIR) channels and form the basis for information extraction.Our land use classification is a 2-step approach that uses RGB and NIR images for an initial classification and the panchromatic images as well as a digital surface model (DSM) for a refined classification. The DSM is generated from the high resolution panchromatic images of a specific photo mission. Based on the aerial triangulation using area and feature-based points of interest the algorithms are able to generate a dense DSM by a dense image matching procedure. Afterwards a true ortho image for classification, panchromatic or color input images can be computed.In a last step specific layers for buildings and vegetation are generated and the classification is updated.  相似文献

本文提出了一种新的结合多光谱和变化检测技术的多时相卫星数据集分类方法。该方法以数理统计中的最近邻法为基础,其目标函数是使得正确分类的平均概率得到最优化,即把每个分类类别看成同等重要。该新算法被应用于一个农业作物分类的研究区域,并利用覆盖该区的不同季节的SPOT和LANDSAT TM多时像影像。结果表明,与单时像影像相比,使用五个不同季节的多时像影像可以充分地提高分类精度。为了说明该方法在大尺度范围内的效果,本文选取瑞典道拉河流域作为研究区。由于不同地物的分布高度重叠,不可能得到像元水平上满意的分类精度。这就需要引进一种新的概念:像元概率分类法。基于像元的概率向量可用于判别传统分类法的可靠性并测量单个像元的不确定性(熵)。概率分类法同时提供了不同地物的面积的无偏估计,无论所感兴趣的区域的大小。这已经在不同特性的耕地试验点进行了检验。  相似文献

The characterization of fuel types is very important for computing spatial fire hazard and risk and simulating fire growth and intensity across a landscape. However, due to the complex nature of fuel characteristic a fuel map is considered one of the most difficult thematic layers to build up. The advent of sensors with increased spatial resolution may improve the accuracy and reduce the cost of fuels mapping. The objective of this research is to evaluate the accuracy and utility of imagery from the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) satellite imagery. In order to ascertain how well ASTER data can provide an exhaustive classification of fuel properties a sample area characterized by mixed vegetation covers was analysed. The selected sample areas has an extension at around 60 km2 and is located inside the Sila plateau in the Calabria Region (South of Italy). Fieldwork fuel type recognitions, performed before, after and during the acquisition of remote sensing ASTER data, were used as ground-truth dataset to assess the results obtained for the considered test area. The method comprised the following three steps: (I) adaptation of Prometheus fuel types for obtaining a standardization system useful for remotely sensed classification of fuel types and properties in the considered Mediterranean ecosystems; (II) model construction for the spectral characterization and mapping of fuel types based on a maximum likelihood (ML) classification algorithm; (III) accuracy assessment for the performance evaluation based on the comparison of ASTER-based results with ground-truth. Results from our analysis showed that the use ASTER data provided a valuable characterization and mapping of fuel types being that the achieved classification accuracy was higher than 90%.  相似文献

变化发现是地理信息更新的重要环节之一,以纸质地图、汇总表为依托的地理空间信息标报是目前空间变化发现的一种重要手段,但其采用手工标绘,存在效率低、上报汇总周期长、互动性差、无法调度各级专业人员以及广大公众参与等问题,难以满足信息化条件下地理信息动态更新对变化发现的高时效性要求。将网络化手段用于变化标报能有效克服传统标报方式的缺点,是信息化条件下地理信息变化快速发现的一条可行途径。为此本文研究了面向标报的变化轮廓线分类与重构方法、顾及标报信息有序传递的发布订/阅模型、用户参与的多级互动标报技术等。论文的主要研究内容和创新性成果如下: (1)提出了一种变化轮廓线分类与目标重构方法。首先在目标快照差分类的基础上,将面目标差降维与线目标快照差一同进行细化,分析归纳出地形要素变化轮廓线类型;继而以目标标识动态性、拓扑关系、维数、形状、位置、方位等参数为基础,建立了六元组空间变化描述模型;最后,发展了基于变化轮廓线的目标重构算法,包括目标正负差计算、更新操作算子设计和更新融合规则归纳等。 (2)提出了一种顾及标报信息有序传递的时空发布/订阅模型。将空间变化和标报层级纳入发布内容中,提出了基于变化轮廓线及参数、标报层级的标报事件形式化描述及其构建方法;通过对订阅表达式中的属性变量、取值、操作符进行时空扩展,表达了空间变化的订阅条件;构建了顾及层级的事件代理网络,基于多维索引计数思想完成了发布信息与订阅条件的匹配,从而提出了一种顾及层级和时空特征的发布订阅模型。 (3)提出了一种基于空间型博客的多级互动标报模型。空间型博客模型的基本实体包括对象、用户、角色、用户组、空间型博客、检测器等,实体间的关系包括概括关系、组成关系、协作关系和拥有关系等;针对传统RBAC模型不能满足博客用户互动标报中多级访问控制需求问题,提出一种基于用户组和角色的混合多级访问控制方法。 (4)开发了原型系统,对论文所提出的方法进行实验验证。以Visual Studio 2008为开发工具,集成Google Maps API开发,采用Mashup技术实现了博客与地图服务的交互与聚合;并用实际与模拟数据验证文中提出的关键技术方法,包括:更新标报中的变化轮廓线分类与目标重构,发布/订阅模式下的标报信息有序传递,以及基于空间型博客的互动标报。验证了本文所提出的模型与方法的可行性。理论分析与实验结果表明,本文提出的变化轮廓线分类和目标重构方法,顾及标报信息有序传递的发布/订阅模型,用户参与的多级互动标报技术等有效地解决了网络化空间标报面临的“标什么”、“怎么标”和“怎么传” 等难题,为网络化空间标报系统的设计与开发提供了一条新的思路。  相似文献

Abstract

The goal of this research was to explore the utility of very high spatial resolution, digital remotely sensed imagery for monitoring land‐cover changes in habitat preserves within southern California coastal shrublands. Changes were assessed for Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, a large open space in San Diego County, over the 1996 to 1999 period for which imagery was available.

Multispectral, digital camera imagery from two summer dates, three years apart, was acquired using the Airborne Data Acquisition and Registration (ADAR) digital‐camera system. These very high resolution (VHR) image data (1m), composed of three visible and one near‐infrared wavebands (V/NIR), were the primary image input for assessing land cover change. Image‐derived datasets generated from georeferenced and registered ADAR imagery included multitemporal overlays and multitemporal band differencing with threshold selection. Two different multitemporal image classifications were generated from these datasets and compared. Single‐date imagery was analyzed interactively with image‐derived datasets and with information from field observations in an effort to discern change types. A ground sampling survey conducted soon after the 1999 image acquisition provided concurrent ground reference data.

Most changes occurring within the three‐year interval were associated with transitional phenological states and differential precipitation effects on herbaceous cover. Variations in air temperatures and timing of rainfall contributed to differences that the seven‐week image acquisition offset may have caused. Disturbance factors of mechanical clearing, erosion, potentially invasive plants, and fire were evident and their influence on the presence, absence, and type of vegetation cover were likely sources of change signals.

The multitemporal VHR, V/NIR image data enabled relatively fine‐scale land cover changes to be detected and identified. Band differencing followed by multitemporal classification provided an effective means for detecting vegetation increase or decrease. Detailed information on short‐term disturbance effects and long‐term vegetation type conversions can be extracted if image acquisitions are carefully planned and geometric and radiometric processing steps are implemented.  相似文献

Mapping and monitoring impervious surface dynamic change in a complex urban-rural frontier with medium or coarse spatial resolution images is a challenge due to the mixed pixel problem and the spectral confusion between impervious surfaces and other non-vegetation land covers. This research selected Lucas do Rio Verde County in Mato Grosso State, Brazil as a case study to improve impervious surface estimation performance by the integrated use of Landsat and QuickBird images and to monitor impervious surface change by analyzing the normalized multitemporal Landsat-derived fractional impervious surfaces. This research demonstrates the importance of two-step calibrations. The first step is to calibrate the Landsat-derived fraction impervious surface values through the established regression model based on the QuickBird-derived impervious surface image in 2008. The second step is to conduct the normalization between the calibrated 2008 impervious surface image with other dates of impervious surface images. This research indicates that the per-pixel based method overestimates the impervious surface area in the urban-rural frontier by 50%-60%. In order to accurately estimate impervious surface area, it is necessary to map the fractional impervious surface image and further calibrate the estimates with high spatial resolution images. Also normalization of the multitemporal fractional impervious surface images is needed to reduce the impacts from different environmental conditions, in order to effectively detect the impervious surface dynamic change in a complex urban-rural frontier. The procedure developed in this paper for mapping and monitoring impervious surface area is especially valuable in urban-rural frontiers where multitemporal Landsat images are difficult to be used for accurately extracting impervious surface features based on traditional per-pixel based classification methods as they cannot effectively handle the mixed pixel problem.  相似文献

Remote sensing is the main approach to map aquatic vegetation, and classification tree (CT) is superior to various classification methods. Based on previous studies, modified CT can be developed from traditional CT by adjusting the thresholds based on the statistical relationship between spectral features to classify different images without ground-truth data. However, no studies have yet employed this method to resolve marine vegetation. In this study, three Gao-Fen 1 satellite images obtained on 30 January 2014, 5 November 2014 and 21 January 2015 were selected, and two features were then employed to extract macroalgae farms. Results show that the overall accuracies of traditional CTs for three images are 92.0, 94.2 and 93.9%, respectively, whereas those of the two corresponding modified CTs for images obtained on 21 January 2015 and 5 November 2014 are 93.1 and 89.5%, respectively. This indicates modified CTs can map macroalgae with multi-date imagery and monitor their spatiotemporal distribution in coastal environments.  相似文献

Spatial land use information is one of the key input parameters for regional agro-ecosystem modeling. Furthermore, to assess the crop-specific management in a spatio-temporal context accurately, parcel-related crop rotation information is additionally needed. Such data is scarcely available for a regional scale, so that only modeled crop rotations can be incorporated instead. However, the spectrum of the occurring multiannual land use patterns on arable land remains unknown. Thus, this contribution focuses on the mapping of the actually practiced crop rotations in the Rur catchment, located in the western part of Germany. We addressed this by combining multitemporal multispectral remote sensing data, ancillary information and expert-knowledge on crop phenology in a GIS-based Multi-Data Approach (MDA). At first, a methodology for the enhanced differentiation of the major crop types on an annual basis was developed. Key aspects are (i) the usage of physical block data to separate arable land from other land use types, (ii) the classification of remote sensing scenes of specific time periods, which are most favorable for the differentiation of certain crop types, and (iii) the combination of the multitemporal classification results in a sequential analysis strategy. Annual crop maps of eight consecutive years (2008–2015) were combined to a crop sequence dataset to have a profound data basis for the mapping of crop rotations. In most years, the remote sensing data basis was highly fragmented. Nevertheless, our method enabled satisfying crop mapping results. As an example for the annual crop mapping workflow, the procedure and the result of 2015 are illustrated. For the generation of the crop sequence dataset, the eight annual crop maps were geometrically smoothened and integrated into a single vector data layer. The resulting dataset informs about the occurring crop sequence for individual areas on arable land, so that crop rotation schemes can be derived. The resulting dataset reveals that the spectrum of the practiced crop rotations is extremely heterogeneous and contains a large amount of crop sequences, which strongly diverge from model crop rotations. Consequently, the integration of remote sensing-based crop rotation data can considerably reduce uncertainties regarding the management in regional agro-ecosystem modeling. Cloud cover is generally present in remotely sensed images, which limits the potential of the images for ground information extraction. Therefore, removing the clouds and recovering the ground information for the cloud-contaminated images is often necessary in many applications. In this paper, an effective method based on similar pixel replacement is developed to solve this task. A missing pixel is filled using an appropriate similar pixel within the remaining region of the target image. A multitemporal image is used as the guidance to locate the similar pixels. A pixel-offset based spatio-temporal Markov random fields (MRF) global function is built to find the most suitable similar pixel. The proposed method was tested on MODIS and Landsat images and their land surface temperature products, and the experiments verify that the proposed method can achieve highly accurate results and is effective at dealing with the obvious atmospheric and seasonal differences between multitemporal images.  相似文献
