The last of a cycle of three papers aimed at searching for the influence of the gravitational tide on regional Greece seismicity using different techniques is presented. Twenty-five nonintersecting samplings of earthquakes in Greece compiled from events with different energy and time intervals were studied in the two previous papers (Desherevskii and Sidorin, 2012d, 2014). Stable diurnal and semidiurnal periodicities (24:00 and 12:00 h) were revealed in the seismicity spectra. Periodicities with a small amplitude with periods close to M2 and O1 tidal waves were also found in some samples. The correlation coefficients of all time series of earthquakes were calculated with the following theoretical tide parameters: volume deformation, strain rate, of strain rate modulus, and smoothed diurnal tidal amplitude. As the main result, stable significant correlation of seismicity was revealed with some tidal parameters. However, this could be the result of coincidence in periods of sub-harmonics of the diurnal seismicity rhythm with solar tidal waves. This means that the discovered correlation could simply be caused by the coincidence of two regular components in variations of the compared processes, but not with the gravitational tide. Correlations of seismic activity with solar and lunar tides are studied separately in this paper. This makes possible to separate the influence of gravitational and nongravitational factors. Strong correlation of seismicity was observed only with the solar tide. No stable correlation of seismicity with the lunar tide was revealed. The results can be considered evidence for the nongravitational origin of seismic activity variations that correlate with the tidal parameters. This means that tidal seismicity variations, if they are real, should have a much smaller amplitude in comparison with diurnal solar variations of nongravitational origin. Similar effects could cause wrong conclusions on the tidal influence on seismicity in some studies.  相似文献

Analysis of earthquake catalogues on 14 world regions has revealed a distinct diurnal periodicity of seismic events in all of them. The amplitude of the diurnal variations usually decreases with an increase in earthquake energy, although in some regions, the time series of strong earthquakes also demonstrate diurnal periodicity. Earthquakes are more frequent at night. The acrophase of the course of diurnal seismicity correlates with geographic longitude. The Rayleigh — Schuster hodographs of diurnal periodicity demonstrate sharp changes (kinks) in the vicinity of the equinox and solstice moments. The annual hodograph of the diurnal periodicity of earthquakes is distinctly divided by the equinox moments into segments with different slopes. The defined segments differ in the amplitude and acrophase of the course of diurnal seismicity. The data imply influence of the mutual positions of the Sun and Earth on seismicity in different world regions. Possible mechanisms responsible for such influence are discussed.  相似文献

A fine grid tidal modeling experiment is carried out in order to investigate the tidal regimes for major five tidal constituents, the nonlinear tidal phenomena in terms of M4 and MS4 generation, and the independent tide by the tide generating force in the Yellow and East China Seas (YECS). In this study a two-dimensional numerical model based upon a subgrid-scale (SGS) stress modeling technique is used with the tide generating force included. The model was validated with recently observed tide and current data. The calculated tidal charts for tidal elevation show a generally good agreement with existing ones, with more accurate feature of the M2 cotidal chart in comparison with both the observed data and the existing tidal charts. A careful comparison of the computed diurnal amplitude with observations suggests that the diurnal constituents seem to be overdamped especially in the Kyunggi Bay region, for the case when quadratic bottom friction law is used.Propagation features of the M4(MS4) tides are discussed in the YECS, based upon the analyses of the observed and calculated results. The amphidromic system of the M4 is quite complicated and one noticeable characteristic is that the propagation direction of the M4 tidal wave along the west coast of Korean peninsula is opposite to that of the M2 tidal wave. This result coincides with observations. The propagation feature of the MS4 is almost similar to that of the M4, but with lesser amplitude. The responses of the M4 tidal features to momentum diffusion term and depth-dependent form of the friction coefficient are also discussed.It is also shown that when the independent tide (Defant, 1960) arising from tide generating force (TGF) coexists with tidal waves (co-oscillating tide) arising from external boundary forcing, the TGF tidal waves are dissipated and their amphidromes tend to move westward. This may be interpreted as a process whereby the incident and reflected TGF tidal waves are damped by co-oscillating tide arising from external force at open boundaries. The TGF amplitude is found to be up to 10 cm and 4 cm in the Kyunggi Bay for the M2 and S2 constituents while those for all diurnal constituents are less than 1 cm over the entire model domain.  相似文献

— The Load Unload Response Ratio theory (LURR) puts forward the idea that the ratio of seismicity during times of increased tidal loading to times of decreased tidal loading takes on anomalously large values as the preparatory region of the earthquake approaches a critical state. We repeated the calculations of LURR for several earthquakes in California, for which results had been published, using estimates of the parameters which could be determined from the published work. We were unable to confirm any LURR ratio predictive significance. We test an alternative method of evaluating the influence of tidal stresses on earthquakes based on damage mechanics. As in rock mechanics experiments, it may be that anomalous activation of seismicity prior to large earthquakes occurs only during those time intervals when the applied stress exceeds values previously attained. We applied this approach to analyze the same data set used to test the LURR hypothesis, and it also failed to reveal any significant precursory indications. It may be that time-dependent failure processes such as self-driven nucleation occur on a time scale longer than the diurnal tide, thus destroying the expected synchronization.  相似文献

In this paper, the long time series data of the well water-level data of 12 wells in the Sichuan and Yunnan area is analyzed by the Baytap-G tidal analysis software, and well water level tidal response characteristic parameters (amplitude ratio and phase change) are extracted. We analyzed the features of the shape and stage change, and characteristic parameters of the tidal response of well water level before and after the earthquakes, which can provide a new method and approach to analyzing the response relationships between well water level and earth tide and barometric pressure. The results show that Luguhu Well and 9 other wells are affected by earth tides, and their well water level amplitude ratios and phases are relatively stable; the Nanxi Well and Dayao Well water level changes are affected by the barometric pressure combined with tide force, and their well water level amplitude ratios and phases are more discrete. The water level amplitude ratios and phases of Jiangyou Well, Luguhu Well and Dongchuan Well are significant to large earthquakes, and the relationship between seismic energy density and water level amplitude ratios and phases of M2 wave of the three wells are presented.  相似文献

以井-含水层系统潮汐理论为基础, 结合云南曲靖井水位观测资料实际情况, 利用Baytap-G提供的潮汐分析方法, 分别计算了曲靖井水位M2、 S2、 O1、 S1K1和M3共5个潮汐分波的振幅比、 相位和计算误差, 分析了井水位观测资料不同潮汐波振幅比和相位的动态变化特征, 认为能反映含水层参数的井水位潮汐振幅比和相位变化与附近的抽水和远距离大震引起的同震响应有关, 具体表现为, 2001年11月和2003年8月的振幅比和相位下降变化可能与抽水有关, 而几次大震后的井水位潮汐振幅比和相位小幅度上升和缓慢恢复过程, 则可能与中远场大震的地震波动力引起的含水层渗透系数增加有关.   相似文献

Studies by many scientists show that Hebei, China is an area with strong correlation between the tidal force and the occurrences of major earthquakes, the Xingtai earthquake of 1966, the Hejian earthquake of 1967 and the Tangshan earthquake of 1976 were triggered by the tidal force, in this paper the study on the common characteristics of their occurrence times confirms these facts. The computed times of maximum horizontal of the semi diurnal solid tide tidal force show that the occurrence times of the above mentioned earthquakes were close to the times of maximum horizontal tidal force of the semi diurnal solid tide at new moon or full moon. The Longyao earthquake of M=6.8, the Ningjin earthquake of M=7.2 and the Hejian earthquake of M=6.3 occurred tens of minutes after the maximum horizontal tidal force of the semi diurnal solid tides, and the Tangshan earthquake of M=7.8 occurred 16 minutes before the maximum horizontal tidal force. The tidal forces were directed to the west. This is their temporal characteristic. It is generally accepted that the 1969 Bohai earthquake of M=7.4 and the 1975 Haicheng earthquake were not triggered by the tidal force. These events did not show such characteristics. The temporal characteristics of the earthquakes indicate that the occurrences of these events were not random, but were controlled by the tidal force from the sun and the moon, and triggered by the tidal force. These facts agree with the triggering mechanism of the tidal force, are evidences of earthquakes triggered by tidal force.  相似文献

This work addresses the experimental study of an important aspect in the general problem of lithosphere-magnetosphere coupling, namely the correlation between the Pc1 electromagnetic waves (0.2–5 Hz) and the earthquakes. Using long time series of measurements from the catalogues of Pc1 and earthquakes, we revealed a new effect: the diurnal Pc1 activity in the middle latitudes is statistically higher the lower the diurnal global seismic activity. We assume that the influence of earthquake-related acoustic waves on the upper atmosphere suppresses the activity of the Pc1 waves.  相似文献

本文详细介绍了地球内部应变和应力固体潮的计算理论,基于PREM地球模型计算了地球内部的Love数,并计算了地球内部的应力和应变的6个独立分量在不同深度和纬度处的时间变化序列.结果表明:应力潮汐的振幅达到103Pa,应变潮汐振幅达到10-8;不管应力或是应变潮汐,其振幅随深度的不同都有较大的变化;6个应力和应变分量对纬度依赖较大,但没有表现出南北纬度上的严格的对称性,与纬度的对应关系由引潮位展开的大地系数确定.本文结果可有效应用于地球内部应变或应力潮汐观测的固体潮改正;另外,将本文结果应用于研究潮汐触发地震问题,给出了中国中部地区的一个算例,结果表明地震断层正应力潮汐和应力张量第一不变量潮汐与发震时刻具有明显的相关性,而这种相关性并未在其他如剪切应力以及库伦破坏应力潮汐中表现出来.  相似文献

To investigate the tidal effects on intra-continental earthquake initiation in the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas, we selected over 1,500 focal mechanism solutions of inland earthquakes (epicenter locates at least 100 km to the coastlines) from Global Centroid Moment Tensor (GCMT) project and analyzed the p-values of tidal normal and shear stress as well as tidal Coulomb failure stress. For Coulomb failure stress calculation, we used Coulomb 3.40 software. We find that: (1) p-values of tidal stress change suggests a high tidal correlation of earthquake imitations with tidal normal stress change; (2) when tidal normal stress reached the local maximum values of compression and when tidal shear stress were closed to the positive peaks, earthquakes generated more frequently; (3) particular seismogenic environments such as strong continental plate interactions and the existence of fluids or rheologic substance possibly raise the tidal correlations and (4) higher sensitivity of earthquake initiation to earth tide presents along with higher seismicity, suggesting the rate of rain energy accumulation somehow has a dominating effect on the tidal correlation of earthquake initiation.  相似文献

利用Baytap-G潮汐分析软件对川滇地区12口观测井数字化水位的长时序数据进行计算, 提取井水位潮汐响应特征参数(振幅比和相位差), 分析其形态、 阶段变化等特征, 探讨地震前后井水位潮汐响应特征参数的变化情况, 为深入分析井水位与固体潮、 气压之间响应关系的研究提供新的方法和途径。 结果表明, 泸沽湖井等10口受固体潮影响的井水位振幅比和相位差变化相对稳定; 而南溪井和大姚井受到气压-固体潮综合作用影响的井水位振幅比和相位差变化则比较离散。 其中江油川10井、 泸沽湖井、 东川井等3口井水位振幅比和相位差对大震的响应显著, 并给出了地震能量密度与这三口井水位M2波相位差和振幅比的变化关系。  相似文献

对云龙台的水管倾斜仪观测数据进行了倾斜固体潮的潮汐分析,发现EW和NS两个分量的振幅因子异常变化与地震有较好的对应关系。由于潮汐分析方法本身的科学性和严密性,故振幅因子误差小、精度高;又因为对潮汐谐波波群的选择,避免了以太阳日为基础的周期性干扰,M2、O1波振幅因子的地震异常识别则简易可行,并且可信度高。云龙台的固体潮观测具有较强的地震监测能力。  相似文献

分析了5次远强震前河北省昌黎台、兴济台记录到的电场异常,发现该异常主要集中在震前2个月左右的时段内, 具有很好的短临预报意义. 震前电场呈现不同的异常特征,但与固体地球潮汐波变化关系密切,如半日、半月等潮汐波周期信号增强,引起电场变化幅度增大;或本该正常记录到的潮汐变化幅度突然减小或消失;以及高频信号增多并伴有跃变现象. 分析异常产生机理认为,强震前的这种异常现象是震源区临震孕育过程中岩石弱化产生的电场异常,经自由空间或地壳传播到达地电台站后,与台站记录的电场潮汐波相叠加产生潮汐波增强或减弱现象. 高频异常可能与台站下方岩石孔隙度、渗透率等介质性质的改变有关,反映了强震的远场动态效应.   相似文献

In this paper we investigate the tidal triggering evidence on the earthquakes of the seismic area of the Hellenic Arc using the Hist(ogram)Cum(mulation) method. We analyze the series of the earthquakes occurred in the area which is confined by the longitudes 22° and 28°E and latitudes 34° and 36°N in the time period from 1964 to 2012. In this time period 16,137 shallow and of intermediate depth earthquakes with ML up to 6.0 and 1,482 deep earthquakes with ML up to 6.2 occurred. The result of the this analysis indicate that the monthly variation of the frequencies of earthquake occurrence is in accordance with the period of the tidal lunar monthly variations, and the same happens with the corresponding daily variations of the frequencies of earthquake occurrence with the diurnal luni-solar (K1) and semidiurnal solar (S2) tidal variations. These results are in favor of a tidal triggering process on earthquakes when the stress in the focal area is near the critical level.  相似文献

Results of observations of tidal strains of the crust in the tectonically active Elbrus area of the Northern Caucasus carried out with the use of the Baksan SSAI laser interferometer strainmeter over the period from 2003 through 2006 are presented. Harmonic analysis is performed with the help of the ETERNA software package. Statistically significant time variations in the amplitudes of the main tidal waves M 2 and O 1 are revealed. The influence of the topography on tidal strains in the Baksan gorge is estimated at 22% (an increase in the measured strain values). The reduced amplitude factors of the main diurnal (O 1) and semidiurnal (M 2) waves are underestimated. Numerical modeling of tidal anomalies produced by regional heterogeneous inclusions is performed in a 2-D approximation. The observed anomaly of the M 2 wave (12%) is shown to be due to the influence of the main magma-controlling fault associated with the deep magma source of the Elbrus dormant volcano.  相似文献

The features of the diurnal periodicity of earthquakes with different energies in Japan are studied. The spatiotemporal parameters of different earthquake sets are investigated in detail using various techniques including analyses of amplitudes, dispersion, spectra and correlation. The phases of seismic flows are studied using the modified Rayleigh-Schuster method. Lomb-Scargle periodograms are used to study the frequency of variations in seismicity. The parameters of the sets of earthquakes having different energies obtained in this study indicate changes in phase of the diurnal periodicity of earthquakes to the opposite near the magnitude of completeness. The very clear midday effect is noted.  相似文献

During the MLTCS (Mesosphere-Lower Thermosphere Coupling Study) campaign the EISCAT UHF radar was continuously operated over 7 days (30 July-5 August 1992) in the CP-1 mode. The long time series obtained of the fundamental ionospheric parameters field-aligned ion velocity (Vi), ion and electron temperature (T and Te), and electron density (Ne) are useful in investigating tidal variations in the E- and F-region since the geomagnetic activity was particularly low during the time of measurement. Maximum entropy spectra of the parameters were calculated for the relatively quiet interval from 1 August to 4 August 1992 and indicated dominant variations with harmonics of 24 hours. In the electron density spectrum especially, harmonics up to the sixth order (4-h period) are clearly visible. The phase and amplitude height profiles (100-450 km) of the diurnal, semidiurnal, and terdiurnal variations were determined by Fourier transform for a 24-h data set beginning at 12:00 UT on 3 August 1992 when the contaminating influences of electric fields were negligible. The tidal variations of the ion temperatures are compared with the corresponding variations of the neutral temperature predicted by the MSISE-90 model. A remarkable result is the dominance of terdiurnal temperature oscillations at E-region heights on 3–4 August 1992, while the measured diurnal and semidiurnal variations were negligible. The finding was confirmed by the analysis of further EISCAT data (2-3 August 1989, 2–3 July 1990, 31 March- 1 April 1992) which also showed a dominant terdiurnal temperature tide in the E-region. This is different from numerous observations of tides in the E-region at mid-latitudes where the diurnal and especially the semidiurnal temperature oscillations were dominant.  相似文献

朔望潮触发和调制地震的发生已是一个基本事实,朔望潮即是半月潮幅度最大时段再迭加半日潮和全日潮。由于朔望潮量值大,所以它作用到震源系统上影响震源过程的7种效应也大,因而朔望潮与地震的相关性较好。由此作者认为用朔望潮比单纯用半日潮来判断震源过程的不稳定性更好,它可以回避震源地方的很多复杂问题而不影响预报地震的效能。  相似文献

Over the past 30 years, reclamation projects and related changes have impacted the hydrodynamics and sediment transport in the Bohai Sea. Three-dimensional tidal current models of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea were constructed using the MIKE 3 model. We used a refined grid to simulate and analyze the effects of changes in coastline, depth, topography, reclamation, the Yellow River estuary, and coastal erosion on tidal systems, tide levels, tidal currents, residual currents, and tidal fluxes. The simulation results show that the relative change in the amplitude of the half-day tide is greater than that of the full-day tide. The changes in the tidal amplitudes of M2, S2, K1, and O1 caused by coastline changes accounted for 27.76–99.07% of the overall change in amplitude from 1987 to 2016, and water depth changes accounted for 0.93–72.24% of the overall change. The dominant factor driving coastline changes is reclamation, accounting for 99.55–99.91% of the amplitude changes in tidal waves, followed by coastal erosion, accounting for 0.05–0.40% of the tidal wave amplitude changes. The contribution of changes in the Yellow River estuary to tidal wave amplitude changes is small, accounting for 0.01–0.12% of the amplitude change factor. The change in the highest tide level (HTL) is mainly related to the amplitude change, and the correlation with the phase change is small. The dominant factor responsible for the change in the HTL is the tide amplitude change in M2, followed by S2, whereas the influence of the K1 and O1 tides on the change in the HTL is small. Reclamation resulted in a decrease in the vertical average maximum flow velocity (VVAM) in the Bohai Sea. Shallower water depths have led to an increase in the VVAM; deeper water depths have led to a decrease in the maximum flow velocity. The absolute value of the maximum flow velocity gradually decreases from the surface to the bottom, but the relative change value is basically constant. The changes in the tidal dynamics of the Bohai Sea are proportional to the degree of change in the coastline. The maximum and minimum changes in the tidal flux appear in Laizhou Bay (P-LZB) and Liaodong Bay (P-LDB), respectively. The changes in the tidal flux are related to the change in the area of the bay. Due to the reduced tidal flux, the water exchange capacity of the Bohai Sea has decreased, impacting the ecological environment of the Bohai Sea. Strictly controlling the scale of reclamation are important measures for reducing the decline in the water exchange capacity of the Bohai Sea and the deterioration of its ecological environment.  相似文献
