Models of strange quark stars with a crust consisting of atomic nuclei and degenerate electrons, maintained by an electrostatic barrier at the surface of the strange quark matter, are investigated for a realistic range of parameters of the MIT bag model. The density at which neutrons escape from nuclei, ρ = ρdrip, is taken as the maximum possible boundary density of the crust. Series of strange stars are calculated as a function of central density. Configurations with masses of 1.44 and 1.77 M{ie330-1} and a gravitational redshift Zs = 0.23, corresponding to the best-known observational data, are investigated. The presence of a crust results in the existence of a minimum mass for strange stars, and also helps to explain the glitch phenomenon of pulsars within the framework of the existence of strange quark matter. This is a study of the stability of strange dwarfs, superdense stars with a small quark core (M 0core /M < 0.017) and an extended crust consisting of atomic nuclei and a degenerate electron gas where the density may be two orders of magnitude greater than the maximum density for white dwarfs. For a given equation of state, the mass, total number of baryons, and radius of strange dwarfs are uniquely determined by the central energy density ρ c and the energy density ρ tr of the crust at the surface of the quark core. Thus, the entire range of variation of ρ c and ρ tr must be taken into account in studying the stability of these configurations. This can be done by examining a series of configurations with a fixed rest mass M 0 (total baryon number) of the quark core and different masses of the crust. In each series, ρ tr ranges from the value for white dwarfs to ρ drip = 4.3∙1011 g/cm3, at which free neutrons are created in the crust. According to the static criterion for stability, stability is lost in an individual series when the mass of the strange dwarf reaches a maximum as a function of ρ tr . A possible scenario for the evolution of the universe following the big bang at t > 10-5 sec is considered. The necessary conditions that must be present for the formation of stars and stellar systems to be possible are formulated. As a condition for the formation of stars we take kTs≤ GMsmp(3R), and for stellar systems HR ? (GM/R)1/2, where Ts is the temperature of the cosmic plasma, mp is the mass of a proton, Ms is the mass of a star, M is the mass of a stellar cluster, R is the radius of these celestial bodies, and H is the bubble parameter for the corresponding time. In accordance with these criteria, we assume that in the course of cosmological expansion, neutron stars should have been formed first (times 2.10-4 ? t ? 1 sec, densities 0.07 ? ρB? 2.104 g/cm3) and then, in chronological order, appeared white dwarfs (t ≈ 102 sec, ρB ? 5.10-3 g/cm3), ordinary stars (t ≈ 4.106 sec, ?B ≈ 10-11 g/cm3), galactic nuclei (t ≈ 3.1011 sec, ?B ≈ 5.10-19 g/cm3, globular clusters (t ≈ 1013 sec, ?B ≈ 4.10-21 g/cm3), and galaxies (t ≈ 1015 sec, ?B ≈ 10-24 g/cm3), where ?B is the average density of ordinary (baryon) matter in the universe. It is shown that a galactic nucleus is a stellar system in statistical equilibrium and consists mainly of neutron stars and white dwarfs. The formation of some pulsars (neutron stars with angular rotation rates 1 < Ω < 200 sec-1) may occur in a galactic nucleus. Observed pulsars should therefore contain some fraction of neutron stars from the nucleus of the Galaxy that were able to escape it over the relaxation time (the tail of the Maxwell distribution, with star velocities v > v0, where v0 is the velocity corresponding to the work function 2GMMs/R, M being the mass and R the radius of the Galaxy’s nucleus.  相似文献

This is a study of the stability of strange dwarfs, superdense stars with a small self-confining core (M core  < 0.02 M) containing strange quark matter and an extended crust consisting of atomic nuclei and degenerate electron gas. The mass and radius of these stars are of the same orders as those of ordinary white dwarfs. It is shown that any study of their stability must examine the dependence of the mass on two variables, which can, for convenience, be taken to be the rest mass (total baryon mass) of the quark core and the energy density ρ tr of the crust at the surface of the quark core. The range of variation of these quantities over which strange dwarfs are stable is determined. This region is referred to as the stability valley for strange dwarfs. The mass and radius from theoretical models of strange dworfs are compared with observational data obtained through the HIPPARCOS program and the most probable candidate strange dwarfs are identified.  相似文献

Questions of the equilibrium, stability, and observational manifestations of strange stars are considered, in which electrical neutralization of the quark matter is provided by positrons, as occurs for some sets of bag parameters resulting in a stiffer equation of state. Such models consist entirely of self-contained, strange quark matter and their maximum mass reaches 2.4–2.5 M with a radius of 13–14 km. The cooling of such strange quark stars both in the absence and in the presence of mass accretion is investigated. It is shown that in the absence of mass accretion onto the strange star, the dependence of temperature (T, K) on age (t, yr) depends very little on the mass of the configuration and has the form T ≈ 2.3·108r−1/5. If the star’s initial temperature is sufficiently high (T0≥2·1010K), then the total number of electron-positron pairs emitted does not depend on it and is determined only by the total mass of the configuration. In the case of accretion, the annihilation of electrons of the infalling fatter with positrons of the strange quark matter results in the emission of γ-rays with an energy of∼0.5 MeV, by observing which one can distinguish candidates for strange stars. The maximum temperature of strange stars with mass accretion is calculated. Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 42, No. 4, pp. 617–630, October–December, 1999.  相似文献

Strange quark stars with a crust and strange dwarfs consisting of a compact strange quark core and an extended crust are investigated in terms of a bag model. The crust, which consists of atomic nuclei and degenerate electrons, has a limiting density of cr=drip=4.3·1011 g/cm3. A series of configurations are calculated for two sets of bag model parameters and three different values of cr (109 g/cm3 cr drip) to find the dependence of a star's mass M and radius R on the central density. Sequences of stars ranging from compact strange stars to extended strange dwarfs are constructed out of strange quark matter with a crust. The effect of the bag model parameters and limiting crust density cr on the parameters of the strange stars and strange dwarfs is examined. The strange dwarfs are compared with ordinary white dwarfs and observational differences between the two are pointed out.  相似文献

The stability of strange dwarfs for quark cores with M 0core /M = 10−4, has been studied by calculating, in each individual case, a series of strange dwarfs with configurations in which 5 ⋅ 10−4, 10−3, 5 ⋅ 10−3, 10−2, 1.31 ⋅ 10−2, 1.6 ⋅ 10−2, 1.7 ⋅ 10−2, 2 ⋅ 10−2, ranges from the values in white dwarfs to ρ drip = 4.3 ⋅ 1011 g/cm3, at which free neutrons are produced in the crust. For the series with M 0core /M < 0.0131, stability is lost when ρ tr < ρ drip . For the series with M 0core /M > 0.0131, the equality ρ tr = ρ drip is reached before the strange dwarf attains its maximum mass. Although the frequency of the radial pulsations in the fundamental mode obeys ω02 > 0 for these configurations, they are unstable with respect to transitions into a strange star state with the same total number of baryons and a radius on the order of that of neutron stars. An energy on the order of the energy in a supernova explosion is released during these transitions. It is shown that the gravitational red shift of white and strange dwarfs are substantially different for low and limiting (high) masses.  相似文献

In the present article, a family of static spherical symmetric well behaved interior solutions is derived by considering the metric potential g 44=B(1−Cr 2)n for the various values of n, such that (1+n)/(1−n) is positive integer. The solutions so obtained are utilised to construct the heavenly bodies’ like quasi-black holes such as white dwarfs, neutron stars, quarks etc., by taking the surface density 2×1014 gm/cm3. The red shifts at the centre and on the surface are also computed for the different star models. Moreover the adiabatic index is calculated in each case. In this process the authors come across the quarks star only. Least and maximum mass are fond to be 3.4348M Θ and 4.410454M Θ along with the radii 21.0932 km and 23.7245 km respectively.  相似文献

We investigate the combined effect of neutron and proton superfluidities on the cooling of neutron stars whose cores consist of nucleons and electrons. We consider the singlet state paring of protons and the triplet pairing of neutrons in the cores of neutron stars. The critical superfluid temperatures T c are assumed to depend on the matter density. We study two types of neutron pairing with different components of the total angular momentum of a Cooper pair along the quantization axis (|m J |=0 or 2). Our calculations are compared with the observations of thermal emission from isolated neutron stars. We show that the observations can be interpreted by using two classes of superfluidity models: (1) strong proton superfluidity with a maximum critical temperature in the stellar core T c max ?4×109 K and weak neutron superfluidity of any type (T c max ?2×108 K); (2) strong neutron superfluidity (pairing with m J =0) and weak proton superfluidity. The two types of models reflect an approximate symmetry with respect to an interchange of the critical neutron and proton pairing temperatures.  相似文献

Analysis of the available observational data for the α-Persei cluster members shows that rotation effects on the intermediate-band indices c1 and (u-b) are considerable. In c1, rotation produces a reddening of 0.040 magnitudes per 100 km s-1 In (u-b) the effect for B stars is found to be 0.06 magnitudes per 100 km s-1 ofV sin i. The binaries and peculiar stars are found to behave differently in the colour excess (due to rotation) versusV sin i diagrams. These empirical effects can be utilised to recalibrate these colour indices and also to separate members that are either chemically peculiar or in binary systems.  相似文献

The present work studies the hydrodynamic process of thermonuclear explosion of hydrostatic equilibrium, degenerate carbon-oxygen cores withM C=1.40M with different values of central densityϱ c within the interval 2 × 109 <ϱ c < 3 × 1010 g cm−3. The initial temperature distribution has been determined by the preceding thermal stage of explosion. The calculations successively include the kinetics of thermonuclear burning, the kinetics of β-processes, and neutrino energy losses. By considering the neutrino mechanism of heating and carbon ignition we obtained in our numerical hydrodynamic calculations two characteristic versions of the development of an explosion: (a) at 2 × 109 <ϱ c < 9 × 109 g cm−3 there is disruption of the whole star with either complete or partial burning of the carbon and a 1050–1051 erg kinetic energy; and (b) at 9 × 109 <ϱ c < 3 × 1010 g cm−3 the stellar core collapses into a neutron star with partial outburst of the outer envelope with a smaller kinetic energy of 1049–1050 erg. The paper proposes and details a hypothesis (the scenario of supernovae and the formation of neutron stars) on the first version of explosion, corresponding to SNII, and on the second, supplemented by some mechanism of slow energy release into the envelope expelled from the newly formed neutron star, corresponding to SNI. On the basis of the proposed hypothesis a satisfactory agreement with the observed masses and energies of the supernovae envelope, their light curves and spectra, as well as with the data on their chemical composition has been obtained. For this agreement we must assume that type I pre-supernovae are almost bare compact carbon-oxygen stellar cores, and that type II presupernovae are red supergiants. It is most probable that the evolution of type I pre-supernovae occurs in close binaries while the evolution of type II pre-supernovae seems to be very similar to the evolution of a single star.  相似文献

We model thermal evolution of magnetars with a phenomenological heat source in a spherical internal layer and compare the results with observations of persistent thermal radiation from magnetars. We show that the heat source should be located in the outer magnetar’s crust, at densities ρ≲5×1011 g cm−3, and the heating rate should be ∼1020 erg cm−3 s−1. Heating deeper layers is extremely inefficient because the thermal energy is mainly radiated away by neutrinos and does not warm up the surface to the magnetar’s level. This deep heating requires too much energy; it is inconsistent with the energy budget of neutron stars.   相似文献

Optical CCD imaging with Hα and [SII] filters and spectroscopic observations of the galactic supernova remnant G85.9-0.6 have been performed for the first time. The CCD image data are taken with the 1.5 m Russian-Turkish Telescope (RTT150) at TüBİTAK National Observatory (TUG) and spectral data are taken with the Bok 2.3 m telescope on Kitt Peak, AZ. The images are taken with narrow-band interference filters Hα, [SII] and their continuum. [SII]/Hα ratio image is performed. The ratio obtained from [SII]/Hα is found to be ∼0.42, indicating that the remnant interacts with HII regions. G85.9-0.6 shows diffuse-shell morphology. [SII]λ λ6716/6731 average flux ratio is calculated from the spectra, and the electron density N e is obtained to be 395 cm−3. From [OIII]/Hβ ratio, shock velocity has been estimated, pre-shock density of n c =14 cm−3, explosion energy of E=9.2×1050 ergs, interstellar extinction of E(BV)=0.28, and neutral hydrogen column density of N(HI)=1.53×1021 cm−2 are reported.  相似文献

Hydrodynamic calculations of nonlinear radial oscillations of LBV stars with effective temperatures 1.5 × 104 K ⩽ T eff ⩽ 3 × 104 K and luminosities 1.2 × 106 L L ⩽ 1.9 × 106 L have been performed. Models for the evolutionary sequences of Population I stars (X = 0.7, Z = 0.02) with initial masses 70M M ZAMS ⩽ 90M at the initial helium burning stage have been used as the initial conditions. The radial oscillations develop on a dynamical time scale and are nonlinear traveling waves propagating from the core boundary to the stellar surface. The amplitude of the velocity variations for the outer layers is several hundred km s−1, while the bolometric magnitude variations are within ΔM bol ⩽ 0· m 2. The onset of oscillations is not related to the κ-mechanism and is attributable to the instability of a self-gravitating envelope gas whose adiabatic index is close to its critical value of Γ1 = 4/3 due to the dominant contribution of radiation in the internal energy and pressure. The interval of magnitude variation periods (6 days ≤ II ≤ 31 days) encompasses all currently available estimates of the microvariability periods for LBV stars, suggesting that this type of nonstationarity is pulsational in origin.  相似文献

We present a variety of well behaved classes of Charge Analogues of Tolman’s iv (1939). These solutions describe charged fluid balls with positively finite central pressure, positively finite central density; their ratio is less than one and causality condition is obeyed at the centre. The outmarch of pressure, density, pressure-density ratio and the adiabatic speed of sound is monotonically decreasing, however, the electric intensity is monotonically increasing in nature. These solutions give us wide range of parameter for every positive value of n for which the solution is well behaved hence, suitable for modeling of super dense stars. keeping in view of well behaved nature of these solutions, one new class of solutions is being studied extensively. Moreover, this class of solutions gives us wide range of constant K (0.3≤K≤0.91) for which the solution is well behaved hence, suitable for modeling of super dense stars like Strange Quark stars, Neutron stars and Pulsars. For this class of solutions the mass of a star is maximized with all degree of suitability, compatible with Quark stars, Neutron stars and Pulsars. By assuming the surface density ρ b =2×1014 g/cm3 (like, Brecher and Caporaso in Nature 259:377, 1976), corresponding to K=0.30 with X=0.39, the resulting well behaved model has the mass M=2.12M Θ, radius r b ≈15.27 km and moment of inertia I=4.482×1045 g cm2; for K=0.4 with X=0.31, the resulting well behaved model has the mass M=1.80M Θ, radius r b ≈14.65 km and moment of inertia I=3.454×1045 g cm2; and corresponding to K=0.91 with X=0.135, the resulting well behaved model has the mass M=0.83M Θ, radius r b ≈11.84 km and moment of inertia I=0.991×1045 g cm2. For n=0 we rediscovered Pant et al. (in Astrophys. Space Sci. 333:161, 2011b) well behaved solution. These values of masses and moment of inertia are found to be consistent with other models of Neutron stars and Pulsars available in the literature and are applicable for the Crab and the Vela Pulsars.  相似文献

We present here rigorous analytical solutions for the Boltzmann-Poisson equation concerning the distribution of stars above the galactic plane. The number density of stars is considered to follow a behaviour n(m,0) ∼H(m - m0)m−x, wherem is the mass of a star andx an arbitrary exponent greater than 2 and also the velocity dispersion of the stars is assumed to behave as < v2(m)> ∼ m−θ the exponent θ being arbitrary and positive. It is shown that an analytic expression can be found for the gravitational field Kz, in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions, the limiting trends being Kz∼z for z →0, while Kz constant for z → infinity. We also study the behaviour of < |z(m)|2>,i.e. the dispersion of the distance from the galactic disc for the stars of massm. It is seen that the quantity < |z(m)|2> mt-θ, for m→ t, while it departs significantly from this harmonic oscillator behaviour for stars of lighter masses. It is suggested that observation of < |z(m)|2> can be used as a probe to findx and hence obtain information about the mass spectrum.  相似文献

We investigate the decay of bound electron-positron pairs (positronium) in strong magnetic fields (of order 1012 Gauss, which are assumed for neutron stars) on the basis of a correct treatment of the two-body problem, thus improving previous work by Carr and Sutherland (1978). We find that, even in the presence of a strong magnetic field, the decay of the ground state of positronium must be momentum conserving, whereby the possibility of the one-photon decay is ruled out. We calculate the transition rate for the two-photon annihilation process which turns out to be larger than the field free transition rate by a factor (1/)2 B/B cr (where is the electromagnetic coupling constant, andB cr=m e 2 c 2/(e)=4.41×1013 Gauss).  相似文献

We present two new luminous blue variable (LBV) candidate stars discovered in the M33 galaxy. We identified these stars as massive star candidates at the final stages of evolution, presumably with a notable interstellar extinction. The candidates were selected from the Massey et al. catalog based on the following criteria: emission in H α , V<18./m 5 and 0.m 35 < (B - V) < 1.m 2. The spectra of both stars reveal a broad and strong H α emission with extended wings (770 and 1000 kms−1). Based on the spectra we estimated the main parameters of the stars. Object N45901 has a bolometric luminosity log(L/L) = 6.0–6.2 with the value of interstellar extinction A V = 2.3 ± 0.1. The temperature of the star’s photosphere is estimated as T⋆ ∼ 13000–15000 K, its probable mass on the Zero Age Main Sequence is M∼ 60–80 M. The infrared excess in N 45901 corresponds to the emission of warm dust with the temperature Twarm ∼ 1000 K, and amounts to 0.1%of the bolometric luminosity. A comparison of stellar magnitude estimates from different catalogs points to the probable variability of the object N45901. Bolometric luminosity of the second object, N125093, is log(L/L) = 6.3 − 6.6, the value of interstellar extinction is A V = 2.75 ± 0.15. We estimate its photosphere’s temperature as T⋆∼ 13000–16000K, the initial mass as M ∼ 90–120 M. The infrared excess in N125093 amounts to 5–6% of the bolometric luminosity. Its spectral energy distribution reveals two thermal components with the temperatures Twarm ∼ 1000K and Tcold ∼ 480 K. The [Ca II] λλ7291, 7323 lines, observed in LBV-like stars Var A and N93351 in M33 are also present in the spectrum of N 125093. These lines indicate relatively recent gas eruptions and dust activity linked with them. High bolometric luminosity of these stars and broad H α emissions allow classifying the studied objects as LBV candidates.  相似文献

Taking into account the peculiar properties of hybrid stars, stars containing both a core of strange quark matter and the solid crust of a neutron star, and employing a fully self-consistent second-order correction technique, we study the time scale of bulk viscosity dissipation at the low temperature limit (T < 109 K) and with this time scale we calculate the critical spin frequency of the hybrid star. It is found that its minimal value is 704.42 Hz (corresponding to a pulse period of 1.42 ms). When this is compared with the periods of neutron and strange stars, a better interpretation of the observational data is obtained.  相似文献

We present the results of our comprehensive study of the Galactic open star cluster NGC 6866. The positions of stars in the investigated region have been obtained with the “Fantasy” automatic measuring machine from 10 plates of the normal astrograph at the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory. The size of the investigated field is 40′ × 40′, the limiting magnitude is B ∼ 16· m 6, and the maximum epoch difference is 79 yr. For 1202 field stars, we have determined the relative proper motions with an rms error of 2.5 mas yr−1. Out of them, 423 stars may be considered cluster members with a probability P > 70% according to the astrometric criterion. Photometric diagrams have been used as an additional criterion. We have performed two-color BV CCD photometry of stars with the Pulkovo ZA-320M mirror astrograph. The U magnitudes from the literature have also been used to construct the two-color diagrams. A total of 267 stars have turned out to be members of NGC 6866 according to the two criteria. We present refined physical parameters of the cluster and its age estimate (5.6 × 108 yr). The cluster membership of red and blue giants, variable, double, and multiple stars is considered. We have found an almost complete coincidence of the positions of one of the stars in the region (a cluster nonmember) and a soft X-ray source in the ROSAT catalog. The “Fantasy” automatic measuring machine is described in the Appendix.  相似文献
