It is shown that knowing the energy flux density of the radio emission, the rate of increase in the period, and the distance of a pulsar enables one to calculate all the rest of its most important characteristics (the solid angle of the radio emission beam, the radio luminosity, the solid angle of the beam of γ rays, the energy flux density of the g-ray emission, and the magnetic moment, moment of inertia, and mass of the neutron star). Equations from which these pulsar characteristics can be calculated are given at the end of the paper. 球状星团是银河系中最年老的天体之一,是储存着银河系早期演化珍贵信息的“化石”.球状星团的天体测量,主要包括球状星因天区内恒星相对自行的测定,并由这些相对自行数据采用适当方法定出星团的绝对自行,或者直接测定绝对自行.利用这些自行数据,或者进一步与测光和视向速度数据结合,可以开展与球状星团的距离、运动、动力学状况、质量、年龄、演化等等以及银河系的结构和演化等有关的一系列重要的研究.在本文中对本世纪70年代中期以来在球状星团相对自行测定和成员概率估计、内部运动检测、绝对自行测定和空间运动研究这三方面取得的成果和进展以及存在的问题作了评述.  相似文献

分析了物理量测量中时间频率量的特点,主要有:时间的流逝性;其基准是自然基准;时间和频率既密切相关又有区别;时间频率具有最高的测量精细度(分辨率)与准确度;其计量标准可通过电磁波发播;其测量精确度与测量时间有关。另外,从基准、守时、授时、时间频率设备的研制、生产和队伍建设等方面阐发了这些特点对时间频率系统建设的影响。  相似文献

The existence of ten first integrals for the classical problem of the motion of a system of material points, mutually attracting according to Newtonian law, is well known.The existence of the analogous ten first integrals for the more complicated problem of the motion of a system of absolutely rigid bodies, whose elementary particles mutually attract according to the Newtonian law, was established by the author (Duboshin, 1958, 1963, 1968).In his later papers (Duboshin, 1969, 1970), the problem of the motion of a system of material points, attracting each other according to a more general law, was considered and, in particular, it was shown under what conditions the ten first integrals, analogous to the classical integrals, may exist for this problem.In the present paper, the generalized problem of translatory-rotatory motion of rigid bodies, whose elementary particles acting upon each other according to arbitrary laws of forces along the straight line joining them, is discussed.The author has shown that the first integrals for this general problem, analogous to the integrals of the problem of the translatory-rotatory motion of rigid bodies, whose elementary particles acting according to the Newtonian law, exist under certain well known conditions.That is, it has been established that if the third axiom of dynamics (action = reaction) is satisfied, then the integrals of the motion of centre of inertia and the integrals of the moment of momentum exist for this generalized problem.If the third axiom is not satisfied, then the above mentioned integrals do not exist.The third axiom is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for the existence of the tenth integral-the energy integral. The tenth integral always exists if the elementary particles of the bodies acting with a force, depend only on the mutual distances between them. In this case the force function exists for the problem and the energy integral can be expressed in a well known form.The tenth integral may exist for some more general case, without expressing the principle of conservation of energy, but permitting calculation of the kinetic energy, if the configuration of a system is given.The problem, in which the elementary particles acting according to the generalized Veber's law (Tisserand, 1896) has been cited as an example of this more general case.  相似文献

We analyze velocity fields of the Great Red Spot (GRS) and Oval BA that were previously extracted from Cassini, Galileo, and Hubble Space Telescope images (Asay-Davis, X.S., Marcus, P.S., Wong, M., de Pater, I. [2009]. Icarus 203, 164-188). Our analyses use reduced-parameter models in which the GRS, Oval BA, and surrounding zonal (east-west) flows are assumed to have piece-wise-constant potential vorticity (PV), but with finite-sized transition regions between the pieces of constant PV rather than sharp steps. The shapes of the regions of constant PV are computed such that the flow is a steady, equilibrium solution of the 2D quasigeostrophic equations when viewed in a frame translating uniformly in the east-west direction. All parameter values of the models, including the magnitudes of the PV, areas of the regions with constant PV, locations of the transition regions, widths of the transition regions, and the value of the Rossby deformation radius, are found with a genetic algorithm such that the velocity produced by the equilibrium solution is a “best-fit” to the observed velocity fields. A Monte Carlo method is used to estimate the uncertainties in the best-fit parameter values.The best-fit results show that there were significant changes (greater than the uncertainties) in the PV of the GRS between Galileo in 1996 and Hubble in 2006. In particular, the shape of the PV anomaly of the GRS became rounder, and the area of the PV anomaly of the GRS decreased by 18%, although the magnitudes of PV in the anomaly remained constant. In contrast, neither the area nor the magnitude of the PV anomaly of the Oval BA changed from 2000, when its cloud cover was white, to 2006, when its cloud cover was red. The best-fit results also show that the areas of the PV anomalies of the GRS and of the Oval BA are smaller than the areas of their corresponding cloud covers at all times. Using the best-fit values of the Rossby deformation radius, we show that the Brunt-Väisälä frequency is 15% larger at 33°S than at 23°S. As expected (Marcus, 1993), the best-fit results show that the PV of the zonal flow has “jumps” at the latitudes of the maxima of the eastward-going jet streams. However, a surprising result is that a large “jump” in the PV of the zonal flow occurs at the location of a maximum of the westward going jet stream neighboring the GRS. Another surprise is that the jumps in the PV of the zonal flow do not all have the same sign, which implies that there is not a monotonic “staircase” of zonal PV from north to south as was anticipated ( [Marcus, 1993] and [McIntyre, 2008]).  相似文献

Abstract— Historically, there have been a range of diameter estimates for the large, deeply eroded Vredefort impact structure within the Witwatersrand Basin, South Africa. Here, we estimate the diameter of the transient cavity at the present level of erosion as ~124–140 km, based on the spatial distribution of shock metamorphic features in the floor of the structure and downfaulted Transvaal outliers. Taking erosion into account (<6 km) and scaling to original final rim diameter, an estimate of close to 300 km for the rim diameter is obtained. Independent estimates of the final rim diameter, based on an empirical relation of central uplift diameter to rim diameter, spatial distribution of pseudotachylites, and concentric large scale structural patterns, give a similar estimate of close to 300 km for the original final rim diameter. An impact structure of this size is expected to have had an original multi-ring form. At this size, the Vredefort impact structure encompasses the bulk of the Witwatersrand Basin, which appears to owe its preservation to the Vredefort impact. In addition, the Vredefort impact event may have been the thermal driver for some of the widespread hydrothermal activity in the area, which, in recent interpretations, is believed to be a component in the creation of the world-class gold deposits of the Witwatersrand Basin.  相似文献

The results of spectroscopic observations of the nucleus of the S component of the galaxy Kaz 163, carried out on the 6-m telescope of the Special Astronomical Observatory in 1982, are presented. The equivalent widths, relative intensities, and half-widths of emission lines were determined. The electron temperature, electron density, and mass of the gaseous component of the nucleus were also determined. The half-widths and equivalent widths varied almost twofold over the time of observations from October 31, 1981, to May 28, 1982. In the present paper, the piston model of the coronal transient (see Hu. 1983a, b is discssed in detail, and the quantitative results of unsteady gasdynamics are applied to the coronal transient processes. The piston model explains the major features of the transient observations, such as the density profile, the geometric configuration, the kinetic process and the classifications of the coronal transient. Based on the idea of piston model, the bright feature and the dark feature of the transient are the gasdynamical response of the dense plasma ejecting into the corona, and associate with the compressed and rarefied flows, respectively. The quantitative results show that the density increment in the compressed region and the density decrement in the rarefied region are one order of magnitude larger and smaller, respectively, to the density in the quiet corona, it agrees quantitatively with the observations, and both the bright feature and dark feature are explained at the same time.  相似文献

The space weathering, i.e. the evolution of surface properties over time, due to the exposure to external factors, has been shown to affect the optical properties of the asteroids, usually causing reddening (an effect which is measured in terms of the spectral slope in the visible and near infrared range) and darkening over time. However, some problems remain open. In particular, the timescale for reddening, which we estimate from laboratory experiments, is shorter—maybe, by two or even more orders of magnitude—than the typical asteroidal ages. Thus we should expect a complete saturation of the reddening effects for most of the objects, which does not happen, instead of a general significant dependence of the slope on the age, as indeed we find.In this paper we discuss, with the aid of a simplified model, how the collisions may affect the timing of the reddening process. We show that the collisions might halt the reddening, unless a significant reaccumulation of the fragments created in the cratering collisions takes place. In this case the timing for the complete reddening is driven by the collisional events, thus providing a rationale for the observed slope-age and slope-exposure relations.  相似文献

The detection of clumps(cores) in molecular clouds is an important issue in sub-millimetre astronomy. However, the completeness of the identification and the accuracy of the returned parameters of the automated clump identification algorithms are still not clear. In this work, we test the performance and bias of the GaussClumps, ClumpFind, FellWalker, Reinhold, and Dendrograms algorithms in identifying simulated clumps. By designing the simulated clumps with various sizes, peak brightness, and crowdedness, we investigate the characteristics of the algorithms and their performance. In the aspect of detection completeness, FellWalker, Dendrograms, and GaussClumps are the first, second, and third best algorithms, respectively. The numbers of correct identifications of the six algorithms gradually increase as the size and signal-to-noise ratio(SNRs) of the simulated clumps increase and they decrease as the crowdedness increases. In the aspect of the accuracy of retrieved parameters, FellWalker and Dendrograms exhibit better performance than the other algorithms. The average deviations in clump parameters for all algorithms gradually increase as the size and SNR of clumps increase. Most of the algorithms except FellWalker exhibit significant deviation in extracting the total flux of clumps. Taken together, FellWalker, GaussClumps,and Dendrograms exhibit the best performance in detection completeness and extracting parameters. The deviation in virial parameter for the six algorithms is relatively low. When applying the six algorithms to the clump identification for the Rosette molecular cloud, ClumpFind1994, ClumpFind2006, GaussClumps,FellWalker, and Reinhold exhibit performance that is consistent with the results from the simulated test.  相似文献

We studied the predictability of the 10.7 cm solar radio flux by using stationary and non-stationary time-series analysis techniques of fractal theory to find the correlation exponent, the spectral exponent, the Hurst exponent, and the fluctuation exponent of the time series. The Hurst exponent was determined, from which the fractal dimension and consequently the predictability was evaluated. The results suggest that stationary methods of analysis yield inconsistent result, that is, amongst the four techniques used, the values of the exponents show great disparity. While two of the techniques, namely the auto-correlation function analysis and the spectral analysis, indicate long-term positive correlation, the other two methods, specifically the Hurst rescaled range-analysis and the fluctuation analysis, clearly exhibit the anti-correlated nature of the time series. The two non-stationary methods, that is, the discrete wavelet transform and the centered moving-average analysis, yielded values of the Hurst exponent that are indicative of positive correlation, of persistent behavior, and also showed that the time series is predictable to a certain extent.  相似文献

Continuing the study of the rotation of a deformable Earth begun by Getino and Ferrandiz (1990, 1991a, 1991b, 1993, 1994) for an Earth model with an elastic spherical mantle, in this paper on one hand we deal with the effect of the ellipticity, and on the other hand, we include the toroidal solution of the displacement vector. Taking an axis symmetrical, slightly ellipsoidal Earth, the modification due to the ellipticity is introduced into the solution of the displacement vector for both spheroidal and toroidal modes, and, after defining the adequate variables, we give the canonical formulation of the corresponding increase in the kinetic energy.  相似文献

The main properties of the current cycle match almost completely those of average-magnitude solar cycles, and some of the features of the current cycle may indicate a change in the generation mode of magnetic fields in the solar convection zone. In this case, the Sun enters a period of intermediate and weak cycles of solar activity (SA) in terms of the Wolf numbers, which may last for 50 to 100 years. This change may result in further pollution of the Earth's environment (near-Earth space) due to the unfavorable regime of removing cosmic garbage from low-Earth orbit, the substantial increase of the radiation background in near space (the weakening of interplanetary magnetic fields will result in an increased concentration of galactic cosmic rays in the heliosphere), and other, possibly unfavorable, consequences. The main development stages of the 23rd solar-activity cycle are the following: the minimum of the 22nd solar cycle, May 1996 (W*=8.0); the beginning of the growth phase, September 1997; the maximum of the smoothed relative sunspot number, April, 2000; the global polarity reversal of the general solar magnetic field, July to December 2000; the secondary maximum of the relative sunspot number, November 2001; the maximum of the 10.7-cm radio flux, February 2002; the phase of the cycle maximum, October 1999 to June 2002; the beginning of the decrease phase, July 2002; the most powerful flare events of the current cycle, October to November 2003; and the likely point of minimum of the current SA cycle, November to December 2006.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the results of ground-based and space-born photometric observations of the major satellites of Uranus—Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon. All sets of photometric observations of the satellites available in the literature were examined for uniformity and systematic differences and summarized to a unified set by wavelength ranging from 0.25 to 2.4 μm. This set covers the interval of phase angles from 0.034° to 35°. The compound phase curves of brightness of the satellites in the spectral bands at 0.25, 0.41, 0.48, 0.56, 0.75, 0.91, 1.4, and 1.8 μm, which include a pronounced opposition surge and linear part, were constructed. For each satellite, the geometric albedo was found in different spectral bands taking into account the brightness opposition effect, and its spectral dependence was studied. It has been shown that the reflectance of the satellites linearly depends on the wavelength at different phase angles, but has different spectral gradients. The parameters of the phase functions of brightness, including the amplitude and the angular width of the brightness opposition surge, the phase coefficient, and the phase angle at which the nonlinear increase in brightness starts, were determined and their dependences on wavelength and geometric albedo were analyzed. Our investigations show that, in their optical properties, the satellites Miranda and Ariel, Titania and Oberon, and Umbriel present three types of surfaces. The observed parameters of the brightness opposition effect for the Uranian satellites, some ice satellites of Jupiter and Saturn, and the E-and S-type asteroids are analyzed and compared within the framework of the coherent backscattering and mutual shadowing mechanisms.  相似文献

We analyze the conditions for the formation and time evolution of peripheral comet structures of solar-type planetary systems. In the Solar system, these include the Kuiper belt, the Oort cloud, the comet spear, and the Galactic comet ring that marks the Galactic orbit of the Sun. We consider the role of the viscosity of a protoplanetary gas–dust disk, major planets, field stars, globular clusters, giant molecular clouds, and the Galactic gravitational field in the formation of these peripheral structures marked by comets and asteroids. We give a list of the closest past and future passages of neighboring stars through the solar Oort cloud that perturb the motion of its comets and, thus, contribute to the enhancement of its cometary activity, on the one hand, and to the replenishment of the solar comet spear with new members, on the other hand.  相似文献
