Five trace metals, viz. copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), mercury (Hg) and zinc (Zn), in three organs (muscle, gills and liver) of four selected fish species (Mugil cephalus, Eleutheronema tetradactylum, Etroplus suratensis and Daysciaena albida) from Chilika lagoon were studied monthly to assess the concentration level and human health risk via consumption. The average and range of metal concentrations (μg g?1) in flesh of the fish species were found to be: Cu (4.15, 3.47–5.03), Cr (0.25, 0.04–0.63), Fe (19.72, 14.51–27.30), Hg (0.07, 0.05–0.08) and Zn (8.09, 4.41–11.36). The metal concentrations measured in the edible muscles of all fish species were found lower as compared to the contents in liver and gill. Analysis of variance revealed a significant difference in trace metal accumulation among the organs (p < 0.001), but the difference among the seasons and fish species was insignificant (p > 0.05), with the exception of Zn accumulation (p < 0.05). The estimated daily intake (EDI) of the trace metals through the consumption of fish as a dietary component varied widely from 0.48 to 21.33% with respect to the corresponding permissible tolerable daily intake (PTDI). The target hazard quotients (THQs) calculated considering these EDIs for individual metals indicated that the Cr and Cu metals dominantly contributed (avg. THQ = 0.198) to represent the hazard index (HI) than other metals (avg. THQ = 0.029). The average HI determined for all the species was <1 (0.484, ranged 0.255–0.605), indicating that these fish species of Chilika are safe for human consumption.  相似文献

A new occurrence of Mn-rich rocks was discovered within the high-pressure/low-temperature metamorphic rocks on the Palos peninsula of Syros (Greece). Near the summit of Mount Príonas, a meta-conglomerate consists of calcite (~63 wt%), pink manganian phengite, blue–purple manganian aegirine–jadeite, microcline, albite and quartz. In addition, it contains abundant braunite-rich aggregates (up to ~1.5 cm in diameter) that include hollandite [(Ba0.98–1.02K<0.01Na<0.02Ca<0.03) (Mn 1.02–1.52 3+ Fe 0.38–0.88 3+ Ti0.29–0.92Mn 5.11–5.76 4+ )O16], barite and manganian hematite. Due to metamorphic recrystallization and deformation, the contacts between clasts and matrix are blurred and most clasts have lost their identity. In back-scattered electron images, many aegirine–jadeite grains appear patchy and show variable jadeite contents (Jd10–67). These pyroxenes occur in contact with either quartz or albite. Manganian phengite (3.41–3.49 Si per 11 oxygen anions) is of the 3T type and contains 1.4–2.2 wt% of Mn2O3. At the known PT conditions of high-pressure metamorphism on Syros (~1.4 GPa/ 470 °C), the mineral sub-assemblage braunite + quartz + calcite (former aragonite) suggests high oxygen fugacities relative to the HM buffer (+7 ≤ ?fO2 ≤ + 17) and relatively high CO2 fugacities. The exact origin of the conglomerate is not known, but it is assumed that the Fe–Mn-rich and the calcite-rich particles originated from different sources. Braunite has rather low contents of Cu (~0.19 wt%) and the concentrations of Co, Ni and Zn are less than 0.09 wt%. Hollandite shows even lower concentrations of these elements. Furthermore, the bulk-rock compositions of two samples are characterized by low contents of Cu, Co and Ni, suggesting a hydrothermal origin of the manganese ore. Most likely, these Fe–Mn–Si oxyhydroxide deposits consisted of ferrihydrite, todorokite, birnessite, amorphous silica (opal-A) and nontronite. Al/(Al + Fe + Mn) ratios of 0.355 and 0.600 suggest the presence of an aluminosilicate detrital component.  相似文献

Determination of the peak thermal condition is vital in order to understand tectono-thermal evolution of the Himalayan belt. The Lesser Himalayan Sequence (LHS) in the Western Arunachal Pradesh, being rich in carbonaceous material (CM), facilitates the determination of peak metamorphic temperature based on Raman spectroscopy of carbonaceous material (RSCM). In this study, we have used RSCM method of Beyssac et al. (J Metamorph Geol 20:859–871, 2002a) and Rahl et al. (Earth Planet Sci Lett 240:339–354, 2005) to estimate the thermal history of LHS and Siwalik foreland from the western Arunachal Pradesh. The study indicates that the temperature of 700–800 °C in the Greater Himalayan Sequence (GHS) decreases to 650–700 °C in the main central thrust zone (MCTZ) and decreases further to <200 °C in the Mio-Pliocene sequence of Siwaliks. The work demonstrates greater reliability of Rahl et al.’s (Earth Planet Sci Lett 240:339–354, 2005) RSCM method for temperatures >600 and <340 °C. We show that the higher and lower zones of Bomdila Gneiss (BG) experienced temperature of ~600 °C and exhumed at different stages along the Bomdila Thrust (BT) and Upper Main Boundary Thrust (U.MBT). Pyrolysis analysis of the CM together with the Fission Track ages from upper Siwaliks corroborates the RSCM thermometry estimate of ~240 °C. The results indicate that the Permian sequence north of Lower MBT was deposited at greater depths (>12 km) than the upper Siwalik sediments to its south at depths <8 km before they were exhumed. The 40Ar/39Ar ages suggest that the upper zones of Se La evolved ~13–15 Ma. The middle zone exhumed at ~11 Ma and lower zone close to ~8 Ma indicating erosional unroofing of the MCT sheet. The footwall of MCTZ cooled between 6 and 8 Ma. Analyses of PT path imply that LHS between MCT and U.MBT zone falls within the kyanite stability field with near isobaric condition. At higher structural level, the temperatures increase gradually with PT conditions in the sillimanite stability field. The near isothermal (700–800 °C) condition in the GHS, isobaric condition in the MCTZ together with Tt path evidence of GHS that experienced relatively longer duration of near peak temperatures and rapid cooling towards MCTZ, compares the evolution of GHS and inverted metamorphic gradient closely to channel flow predictions.  相似文献

Minerals of the atacamite group such as herbertsmithite and kapellasite have recently attracted enormous attention as the S = ½ Kagomé antiferromagnets for achieving the quantum spin liquid (QSL) state with diverse technological applications. Herein we report on the synthesis of the newly discovered mineral centennialite by using an unconventional “solid-state” reaction method at 463 K. Synthetic centennialite, Ca1.06Cu2.94Cl2.01(OH)5.99·0.73H2O, has been characterized by scanning electron microscopy, electron microprobe analyses, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric analyses, single-crystal X-ray diffraction structure refinements, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The crystal structure of centennialite is characterized by a perfect (threefold symmetry) Kagomé layer with <5 % substitution between Ca and Cu and therefore differs from those of herbertsmithite and kapellasite, in which 15–25 % mixing between similar Zn and Cu atoms dramatically affects the QSL state. Centennialite remains antiferromagnetic down to ~7 K with a moderate spin frustration (i.e., a Weiss temperature θ = ?56 K and a spin frustration parameter f = 8), but exhibits a canted antiferromagnetic ordering with a ferromagnetic component at lower temperatures.  相似文献

The flora of Maden Çayı valley grows in a soil medium which is heavily contaminated with Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn and other metals derived from waste discharges to the Maden Çayı (stream) from the Maden Cu Mining works. Soil, water and plant samples were collected from 47 sites (mostly along the Maden Çayı valley) and analysed for copper. In all the plant species, Cu was concentrated more in the twigs of the plants than in their leaves and flowers. Correlation coefficients (r) were calculated for the correlation between the concentrations of Cu in the twigs of plants and those of the corresponding soil. Statistics of correlation were as follows: Salix acmophylla r=0.93 (n=19, P<0.01), Tamarix smyrnensis r=0.93 (n=20, P<0.01) and Phragmites australis r=0.72 (n=18, P<0.01). Salix acmophylla, Tamarix smyrnensis and Phragmites australis are therefore good indicators of the copper concentrations in the soil and these species could be successfully used for biogeochemical prospecting. These species are typical and common species of the semi-arid Anatolian climate.  相似文献

There is a need for research that advances understanding of flow alterations in contemporary watersheds where natural and anthropogenic interactions can confound mitigation efforts. Event-based flow frequency, timing, magnitude, and rate of change were quantified at five-site nested gauging sites in a representative mixed-land-use watershed of the central USA. Statistically independent storms were paired by site (n = 111 × 5 sites) to test for significant differences in event-based rainfall and flow response variables (n = 17) between gauging sites. Increased frequency of small peak flow events (i.e., 64 more events less than 4.0 m3 s?1) was observed at the rural–urban interface of the watershed. Differences in flow response were apparent during drier periods when small rainfall events resulted in increased flow response at urban sites in the lower reaches. Relationships between rainfall and peak flow were stronger with decreased pasture/crop land use and increased urban land use by approximately 20%. Event-based total rainfall explained 40–68% of the variance in peak flow (p < 0.001). Coefficients of determination (r2) were negatively correlated with pasture/crop land use (r2 = 0.92; p = 0.007; n = 5) and positively correlated with urban land use (r2 = 0.90; p = 0.008; n = 5). Significant differences in flow metrics were observed between rural and urban sites (p < 0.05; n = 111) that were not explained by differences in rainfall variables and drainage area. An urban influence on flow timing was observed using median time lag to peak centroid and time of maximum precipitation to peak flow. Results highlight the need to establish manageable flow targets in rapidly urbanizing mixed-land-use watersheds.  相似文献

Rhizosphere has different chemical and biological properties from bulk soils. Information about copper (Cu) desorption characteristics in the rhizosphere soils is limited. The objectives of this study were to determine Cu desorption characteristics and the correlation of its parameters with Cu extracted by DTPA-TEA, AB-DTPA and Mehlich 3 in bulk and rhizosphere amended soils with sewage sludge (10 g of sewage sludge was added to 1 kg soil) under greenhouse conditions in a rhizobox. The kinetics of Cu desorption in the rhizosphere and bulk was determined by successive extraction with DTPA-TEA in a period of 1 to 504 h at 25 ± 1 °C. The results showed that Cu extracted using several chemical extractants in the rhizosphere were significantly (P < 0.05) lower than in the bulk amended soils. In addition, Cu extracted using successive extraction in the rhizosphere were significantly (P < 0.01) lower than in the bulk soils. The best model for describing extraction data for the bulk and rhizosphere soils was the parabolic diffusion equation. Desorption kinetics of Cu conformed fairly well to first order and power function models. The results indicated that Cu diffusion rate in the wheat rhizosphere soils lower than in the bulk soils. Cu desorption rate in parabolic diffusion ranged from 0.326 to 0.580 mg kg?1 h?1/2 in the bulk soils, while it ranged from 0.282 to 0.490 mg kg?1 h?1/2 in the rhizosphere soils. Significant correlation (P < 0.05) between determine R values of parabolic diffusion and Cu desorption during 504 h with extracted Cu using DTPA-TEA, AB-DTPA and Mehlich 3 were found in the bulk and the rhizosphere soils. The results of this research revealed that Cu desorption characteristics in the wheat rhizosphere soils are quite different from bulk soils amended with sewage sludge.  相似文献

Over the last few years, various researches have reached the conclusion that cosmic ray variations and geomagnetic disturbances are related to the condition of the human physiological state. In this study, medical data concerning the number of incidents of different types of cardiac arrhythmias for the time period 1983–1992, which refer to 1902 patients in Tbilisi, Georgia, were used. The smoothing method and the Pearson r-coefficients were used to examine the possible effect of different solar and geomagnetic activity parameters and cosmic ray intensity variations on the different types of arrhythmias. The time interval under examination was separated into two different time periods, which coincided with the polarity reversal of the solar magnetic field occurred in the years 1989–1990, and as a result, a different behavior of all the above-mentioned parameters as well as of the different types of arrhythmias was noticed during the two time intervals. In addition, changing of polarity sign of the solar magnetic field was found to affect the sign of correlation between the incidence of arrhythmias and the aforementioned parameters. The primary and secondary maxima observed in the solar parameters during the solar cycle 22, also appeared in several types of arrhythmias with a time lag of about 5 months.  相似文献

Drought frequency, duration, and severity and its impact on pasture productivity in the four main vegetation zones of Mongolia were analyzed using meteorological, soil moisture, and vegetation data during the growing season (April–August) of 1965–2010. Meteorological and pasture drought characteristics were explored using the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), the soil moisture anomalies percentile index (W p), and Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) on 1-month timescale. Generally, 35–37 (15–16 %) by SPI for meteorological drought while 27–29 (12–13 %) by W p, and 16–21 (7–9 %) by PDSI for pasture drought with different durations were identified over the four vegetation zones during the study period. Most of these droughts (80 % by SPI and 50–60 % by both W p and PDSI) observed during the entire events occurred on a 1-month duration with moderate intensity. Drought frequencies were not significantly (p > 0.05) different within the four zones. The frequency of the short-term meteorological droughts was observed relatively greater than pasture droughts; however, pasture droughts were more persistent and severe than meteorological droughts. The three indices show that the frequency and severity of droughts have slightly increased over the 46 years with significant (p < 0.05) dry conditions during the last decade of 2001–2010 in the four zones (except in the high mountain). The results showed the W p was more highly significantly correlated with the precipitation anomalies (r = 0.68) and pasture production (r = 0.55) than PDSI (r = 0.51, p < 0.05 and r = 0.38, p < 0.10, respectively). A statistical model, based on pasture production and the W p, suggested that the consecutive drought months contribution during the growing season was 30 % (p < 0.05) and that pasture production was more sensitive to the occurrence of droughts during June–August (R 2 = 0.32, p < 0.05) as seen in 2000–2002 and 2007. We concluded that a greater severity and frequency of growing-season droughts, during the last decade of 2001–2010, have driven a reduction in pasture production in Mongolia.  相似文献

The O+ ion density measured by the SROSS-C2 satellite during solar minima (year 1995, F10.7 = 77) and maxima (year 2000, F10.7 = 181) has been analyzed for studying diurnal, seasonal, latitudinal and geomagnetic variations. The study region covers an area encompassed between 5-3 5° N latitude and 65-95° E longitude over India at a ~500 km altitude (F2 region). The year 2000 shows significant enhancement in the annual average of O+ ion density and attainment of post sunset secondary enhancement compared to 1995. Attributed to photoionization, daytime shows a maximum ionization compared to nighttime. However, attainment of post sunset secondary maxima is attributed to the strong pre-reversal enhancement in the vertical E x B drift. The effect of geomagnetic activity Kp through the E x B drift dynamic movement on O+ ion density distribution studies indicates periodicities of seven and nine days in 1995 and 2000, respectively, and polynomial dependency of the O+ ion density on geomagnetic activity Kp. Further on, stratification of the O+ ion density according to latitude (5-35° N) indicates high density in mid-latitudes (12-24° N) compared to high and low latitudes, except in the winter of 1995, which shows a distinct trend (i.e., density decreases with increasing latitude).  相似文献

The structural evolution at high pressure of a natural 2M 1-phengite [(K0.98Na0.02)Σ=1.00(Al1.55Mg0.24Fe0.21Ti0.02)Σ=2.01(Si3.38Al0.62)O10(OH)2; a = 5.228(2), b = 9.057(3), c = 19.971(6)Å, β = 95.76(2)°; space group: C2/c] from the metamorphic complex of Cima Pal (Sesia Zone, Western Alps, Italy) was studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction with a diamond anvil cell under hydrostatic conditions up to ~11 GPa. A series of 12 structure refinements were performed at selected pressures within the P range investigated. The compressional behaviour of the same phengite sample was previously studied up to ~25 GPa by synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction, showing an irreversible transformation with a drastic decrease of the crystallinity at P > 15–17 GPa. The elastic behaviour between 0.0001 and 17 GPa was modelled by a third-order Birch–Murnaghan Equation of State (BM-EoS), yielding to K T0 = 57.3(10) GPa and K′ = ?K T0/?P = 6.97(24). The single-crystal structure refinements showed that the significant elastic anisotropy of the 2M 1-phengite (with β(a):β(b):β(c) = 1:1.17:4.60) is mainly controlled by the anisotropic compression of the K-polyhedra. The evolution of the volume of the inter-layer K-polyhedron as a function of P shows a negative slope, Fitting the PV(K-polyhedron) data with a truncated second-order BM-EoS we obtain a bulk modulus value of K T0(K-polyhedron) = 26(1) GPa. Tetrahedra and octahedra are significantly stiffer than the K-polyhedron. Tetrahedra behave as quasi-rigid units within the P range investigated. In contrast, a monotonic decrease is observed for the octahedron volume, with K T0 = 120(10) GPa derived by a BM-EoS. The anisotropic response to pressure of the K-polyhedron affects the P-induced deformation mechanism on the tetrahedral sheet, consisting in a cooperative rotation of the tetrahedra and producing a significant ditrigonalization of the six-membered rings. The volume of the K-polyhedron and the value of the ditrigonal rotation parameter (α) show a high negative correlation (about 93%), though a slight discontinuity is observed at P >8 GPa. α increases linearly with P up to 7–8 GPa (with ?α/?P ≈ 0.7°/GPa), whereas at higher Ps a “saturation plateau” is visible. A comparison between the main deformation mechanisms as a function of pressure observed in 2M 1- and 3T-phengite is discussed.  相似文献

The use of agricultural wastes as biosorbents is gaining importance in bioremediation of heavy metal-polluted water and soils, due to their effectiveness and low cost. This work assesses the Cd, Pb and Cu adsorption capacity of the raw materials used in the production of substrates for mushroom production (Agaricus bisporus and Pleurotus ostreatus) and the spent mushroom composted (SMC), based on the functional groups of their organic carbon. The raw materials studied included agricultural wastes (wheat straw, wheat and rice poultry litter, grape pomace) and inorganic substances (gypsum and calcareous sand). Organic carbon from wastes and their composting products were characterized by CP-MAS 13C NMR. Langmuir adsorption isotherms of metals were plotted for each raw material, composting step, spent A. bisporus and P. ostreatus substrates and the final SMC. The maximum adsorption capacities of SMC were 40.43, 15.16 and 36.2 mg g?1 for Cd, Pb and Cu, respectively. The composting process modified the adsorption properties of raw materials because of the enhanced adsorption of Cd and Cu and decreased adsorption capacity of Pb. CP-MAS 13C NMR and potentiometric titration were used to identify the functional groups of the organic carbon responsible for the metal adsorption. The content of cellulose was correlated with Pb adsorption (p < 0.001), alkyl and carboxyl carbon with Cd adsorption (p < 0.001), and N-alkyl (p < 0.001) and carboxyl (p < 0.010) groups with Cu adsorption. These results are valuable to develop new biosorbents based on agricultural wastes and demonstrate the high potential of SMC to adsorb heavy metals from polluted environments.  相似文献

The Daolundaba Cu–polymetallic deposit is a newly discovered Cu–W–Sn deposit on the western slopes of the southern Great Xing’an Range, and its mineralization was related to an early Permian coarse-grained biotite granite. However, there is little information on the age of formation of the deposit. In this article, we present the results of our investigation into the age of the Daolundaba Cu–polymetallic deposit, which involved the selection of chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite samples for Rb–Sr isochron dating. A Rb–Sr isochron defined by the chalcopyrite samples yielded a Rb–Sr isochron age of 290.0 ± 11 Ma (MSWD = 1.2) with an initial Sr isotopic composition (ISr) of 0.71446. The pyrrhotite samples yielded a Rb–Sr isochron age of 283.0 ± 2.6 Ma (MSWD = 1.16) with an initial Sr isotopic composition (ISr) of 0.71447. The Rb–Sr isochron age determined from the chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite is 282.7 ± 1.7 Ma (MSWD = 1.13). These results indicate that the Daolundaba Cu–polymetallic deposit formed during the early Permian (282.7–290.0 Ma). The Rb and Sr contents of the chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite range from ~0.1325 to ~3.6810 ppm and from ~0.1219 to ~9.5740 ppm, respectively, and the initial Sr isotope ratios (ISr) range from 0.71047 to 0.71869, with an average of 0.714723. These isotopic characteristics indicate the ore-forming minerals of the Daolundaba Cu–polymetallic deposit originated mainly from the crust, but with small amounts of mantle material involved. The copper was derived from the associated magma whereas the W and Sn was derived from the surrounding strata. The Permian mineralization of the Xing’an–Mongolia region occurred in an active continental margin setting during subduction of the Palaeo-Asian oceanic plate beneath the Siberian Plate.  相似文献

In order to examine the effects of solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR, 280–400 nm) on photosynthesis of differently cell-sized phytoplankton, natural phytoplankton assemblages from the coastal waters of the South China Sea were separated into three groups (>20, 5–20, and <5 μm) and exposed to four different solar UV spectral regimes, i.e., 280–700 nm (PAR?+?UVR), 400–700 nm (PAR), 280–400 nm (UV-A?+?B), and 315–400 nm (UV-A). In situ carbon fixation measurements revealed that microplankton (>20 μm) efficiently utilized UV-A for photosynthetic carbon fixation, with assimilation number of up to 1.01 μg C (μg chl a)?1?h?1 under 21.4 W?m?2 UV-A alone (about half of noontime irradiance at the surface), about 40 % higher than nanoplankton (5–20 μm). UV-B (280–315 nm) of 0.95 W?m?2 reduced the carbon fixation by approximately 20 and 57 % in microplankton and nanoplankton assemblages, respectively. In contrast, smaller picoplankton (<5 μm) was unable to utilize UV-A for the photosynthetic carbon fixation. In addition, only micro-sized assemblages demonstrated the UV enhancement on their primary productivity in the presence of PAR, by about 8 % under moderate intensities of solar radiation.  相似文献

The concentrations of metals (Pb, Cu, Zn, Co, Ni, Fe and Mn) in the <2.5 μm fraction of surface soils (0–5 cm) from highly industrialized areas in Xuzhou (China) were determined. All analyzed metals with the exception of Mn and Co in the present study showed elevated concentrations in the <2.5 μm fraction of soils compared to background concentrations, particularly for Zn. Metal enrichment was positively correlated with carbonate complexation constants (but not bulk solubility products) as well as the first stability constants of metal-citrate, likely suggesting that both metal–organic complexation and/or precipitation of carbonate surfaces that subsequently adsorb metals are likely responsible for these metal enrichment on these samples. Sequential extraction analysis shows the metals Pb, Cu, Zn, Co and Mn were largely associated with the reducible fraction, whereas Ni was largely associated with the oxidisable fraction. Manganese is the only metal showing significant association with the exchangeable fraction (up to 33 %), suggesting that it may be the most susceptible metal to mobilization. Mineral magnetic analysis indicates that ferrimagnetic SSD + SP (stable single domain + superparamagnetic) minerals dominated the <2.5 μm fraction of Xuzhou surface soils. Lead, Cu and Zn were found to show significant correlations with χlf (p < 0.01), suggesting that magnetic technique might be beneficially used as a rapid and inexpensive method to estimate these metal contaminations in the <2.5 μm fraction of surface soils.  相似文献

Ultrabasic xenoliths (pyroxenites, lherzolites, harzburgites) in recent (Neogene–Quaternary) volcanoes have been studied in three localities within Syria: Jubates (North), Mhailbeh (Center), Tel Thannoun (South). PT conditions of mineral equilibration have been estimated by pyroxene thermometry (temperature) and maximum CO2 density in primary inclusions (minimum pressure). Pyroxenites equilibrate at significantly higher conditions (T about 1200 °C, P>15 kbar) than lherzolites and harzburgites (900<T<1100 °C, P between 10 and 15 kbar). All are within the spinel lherzolite field, whereas Cretaceous xenoliths originate within the garnet lherzolite field. To cite this article: A. Bilal, F. Sheleh, C. R. Heavy-metals (Cu, Pb and Zn) in tree-ring sequences of Prosopis juliflora, a tree species native to arid environments, were analyzed by ICP-MS. The tree-ring sequences were obtained from three specimens growing in an urban area previously reported as contaminated by the activity of a Cu smelter facility. The metal found in highest concentration in the wood was Zn, with concentrations up to 120 mg/kg and an enrichment factor up to 26; followed by Cu (up to 9.6 mg/kg, enrichment factor up to 8.6) and Pb (up to 1.4 mg/kg, enrichment factor up to 3). By assessing the correlation between different metal concentration trends, it was possible to infer two main pollution sources: vehicle traffic and Cu smelter emissions. Vehicle traffic is indicated by a correlation between Pb and Zn over time within individual trees, whereas contamination from the Cu-smelting facility is indicated by a correlation of Cu over time between trees. In tree A there was a significant within-tree correlation between Pb and Zn concentration trends (r = 0.856, P < 0.001), whereas Cu showed no correlation with the other metals. For tree B, there were no within-tree correlations between these metals, but when comparing the concentration–time trends between trees A and B, there was a significant correlation for Cu (r = 0.768, P < 0.01). The tree-ring sequence from tree C showed significant within-tree correlation for Cu:Zn (r = 0.430, P < 0.01) and for Pb:Zn (r = 0.753, P < 0.001). The highest enrichment values were found in tree A, located along the path of the growing-season dominant wind direction from the smelter facility, and not in the tree growing closer to the smelter (tree C), suggesting that the smelter’s emissions are dispersed to longer distances through the tall chimneys, attenuating the impact to the area directly closest to the smelter facility. It is concluded that Prosopis juliflora appears as a good bioindicator based on its metal accumulation capacity and lack of metal mobility among tree rings, thus providing information on the chronology and sources of heavy-metal pollution in urban and industrial areas.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Large-scale Cu–Au mineralization is associated with Late Mesozoic intrusive rocks in the Tongling region of eastern China, which mainly comprise pyroxene monzodiorite, quartz monzodiorite, and granodiorite. To constrain the petrogenesis of the intrusive rocks and Cu–Au mineralization, detailed analyses of the geochronology, apatite in situ geochemistry, whole-rock geochemistry, and zircon Hf isotopic compositions were performed. Magmatic zircons from pyroxene monzodiorites, quartz monzodiorites, and granodiorites yield U–Pb ages of 136–149 Ma, 136–146 Ma, and 138–152 Ma, respectively, indicating that their formation ages are contemporaneous. Quartz monzodiorites and granodiorites (SiO2 = 57.9–69.5 wt.%) are highly potassic calc-alkaline rocks with adakitic affinity and have low MgO and Y contents, low zircon εHf(t) values (?11.7 to ?39.0), high apatite Cl contents (>0.2 wt.%), and log fO2 values (?23.2 to ?8.23), indicating that they may have formed when metasomatized mantle-derived magmas mixed with slab-derived magmas before undergoing crustal assimilation and fractional crystallization. Pyroxene monzodiorites (SiO2 = 48.4–53.0 wt.%) are shoshonitic and record high MgO, P2O5, and Y contents, high zircon εHf(t) values (1.55 to ?7.87), high oxygen fugacity, low Nb and Ta contents, and low apatite Cl contents (mainly <0.2 wt.%), suggesting that they were primarily derived from a metasomatized lithospheric mantle-derived magma that experienced the assimilation of lower crustal materials. The results indicate that the intrusive rocks and associated large-scale Cu–Au mineralization of the Tongling region resulted from the partial melting of the subducted oceanic slab in an oxidizing environment.  相似文献

The crystal structure of four birefringent andradite samples (two from Arizona, one from Madagascar, and one from Iran) was refined with the Rietveld method, space group $Ia\overline{3} d$ , and monochromatic synchrotron high-resolution powder X-ray diffraction (HRPXRD) data. Each sample contains an assemblage of three different cubic phases. From the electron-microprobe (EMPA) results, fine-scale intergrowths in the Arizona-2 and Madagascar samples appear homogeneous with nearly identical compositions of {Ca2.99Mg0.01}Σ3[ ${\text{Fe}}_{1.99}^{3 + }$ ${\text{Mn}}_{0.01}^{3 + }$ ]Σ2(Si2.95Al0.03 ${\text{Fe}}_{0.02}^{3 + }$ )Σ3O12, Adr98 (Arizona-2), and Adr97 (Madagascar). Both samples are near-end-member andradite, ideally {Ca3}[ ${\text{Fe}}_{2}^{3 + }$ ](Si3)O12, so cation ordering in the X, Y, or Z sites is not possible. Because of the large-scale intergrowths, the Arizona-1 and Iran samples contain three different compositions. Arizona-1 has compositions Adr97 (phase-1), Adr93Grs4 (phase-2), and Adr87Grs11 (phase-3). Iran sample has compositions Adr86Uv12 (phase-1), Adr69Uv30 (phase-2), and Adr76Uv22 (phase-3). The crystal structure of the three phases within each sample was modeled quite well as indicated by the Rietveld refinement statistics of reduced χ2 and overall R (F 2) values of, respectively, 1.980 and 0.0291 (Arizona-1); 1.091 and 0.0305 (Arizona-2); 1.362 and 0.0231 (Madagascar); and 1.681 and 0.0304 (Iran). The dominant phase for each sample has the following unit-cell parameters (Å) and weight fractions (%): a = 12.06314(1), 51.93(9) (Arizona-1); 12.04889(1), 52.47(1) (Arizona-2); 12.06276(1), 52.21(8) (Madagascar); and 12.05962(2), 63.3(1) (Iran). For these dominant phases, the distances and site occupancy factors (sofs) in terms of neutral atoms at the Ca(X), Fe(Y), and Si(Z) sites are as follows: <Ca–O> = 2.4348, Fe–O = 2.0121(6), Si–O = 1.6508(6) Å; Ca(sof) = 0.955(2), Fe(sof) = 0.930(2), and Si(sof) = 0.917(2) (Arizona-1); <Ca–O> = 2.4288, Fe–O = 2.0148(7), Si–O = 1.6476(7) Å; Ca(sof) = 0.953(2), Fe(sof) = 0.891(2), and Si(sof) = 0.927(2) (Arizona-2); <Ca–O> = 2.4319, Fe–O = 2.0220(6), Si–O = 1.6460(6) Å; Ca(sof) = 0.955(2), Fe(sof) = 0.941(2), and Si(sof) = 0.939(2) (Madagascar); and <Ca–O> = 2.4344, Fe–O = 2.0156(8), Si–O = 1.6468(8) Å; Ca(sof) = 0.928(2), Fe(sof) = 0.908(2), and Si(sof) = 0.932(3) (Iran). The sofs based on the EMPA results are similar to those obtained from the Rietveld refinement. Each phase in the HRPXRD results can be correlated with a specific chemical composition. For example, the Iran sample composition Adr63Uv30 corresponds to phase-3 that has the smallest unit-cell parameter; Adr76Uv22 corresponds to phase-1 that has the intermediate cell value; and Adr86Uv13 corresponds to phase-2 that has the largest unit-cell parameter. The bond distances compare well with those obtained from radii sum. The three different cubic phases in each sample cause strain that arises from the mismatch of the cubic unit-cell parameters and give rise to birefringence.  相似文献

Core sediments from three disturbed boreholes (JOR, GHAT, and RAJ) and two undisturbed boreholes (DW1 and DW2) were collected in the study area of the Chapai-Nawabganj district of northwestern Bangladesh for geochemical analyses. In the study area, groundwater samples from fourteen As-contained private wells and five nested piezometers at both the DW1 and DW2 boreholes were also collected and analyzed. The groundwater arsenic concentrations in the uppermost aquifer (10–40 m of depth) range from 3 to 315 μg/L (mean 47.73 ± 73.41 μg/L), while the arsenic content in sediments range from 2 to 14 mg/kg (mean 4.36 ± 3.34 mg/kg). An environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) with an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer was used to investigate the presence of major and trace elements in the sediments. Groundwaters in the study area are generally the Ca–HCO3 type with high concentrations of As, but low levels of Fe, Mn, NO3 ? and SO 4 ?2 . The concentrations of As, Fe, Mn decrease with depth in the groundwater, showing vertical geochemical variations in the study area. Statistical analysis clearly shows that As is closely associated with Fe and Mn in the sediments of the JOR core (r = 0.87, p < 0.05 for Fe and r = 0.78, p < 0.05 for Mn) and GHAT core (r = 0.95, p < 0.05 for Fe and r = 0.93, p < 0.05 for Mn), while As is not correlated with Fe and Mn in groundwater. The comparatively low Fe and Mn concentrations in some groundwater and the ESEM image revealed that siderite precipitated as a secondary mineral on the surface of the sediment particles. The correlations along with results of sequential extraction experiments indicated that reductive dissolution of FeOOH and MnOOH represents a mechanism for releasing arsenic into the groundwater.  相似文献
