Impacts of cosmic bodies into oceans and seas lead to the formation of very high waves. Numerical simulations of 3-km and 1-km comets impacting into a 4 km depth ocean with a velocity of 20 km/sec have been conducted. For a 1-km body, depth of the interim crater in the sea bed is about 8 km below ocean level, and the height of the water wave is 10 m at a distance of 2000 km from the impact point. As the water wave runs into shallows, a huge tsunami hits the coast. The height of the wave strongly depends on the coastal and sea bed topography. If the impact occurred near the shore, the huge mass of water strikes the cliffs and the near shore mountain ridges and can cause displacement of the rocks, initiate landslides, and change the relief. Thus, impact into oceans and seas is an important geological factor.Cosmic bodies of small sizes are disrupted by aerodynamic forces. Fragments of a 100-m radius comet striking the water surface create an unstable cavity in the water of about 1 km radius. Its collapse also creates tsunami.A simple estimate has been made using the light curves from recent atmosphere explosions detected by satellites. The results of our assessment of the characteristics of meteoroids which caused these intense light flashes suggests that fragments of a 25-m stony body with initial impact velocity 15 to 20 km/sec will hit the surface. For a 75-m iron body striking the sea with a depth of 600 m, the height of the wave is 10 m at 200–300 km distance from the impact.  相似文献

Abstract— In the late Jurassic period, about 142 million years ago, an asteroid hit the shallow paleo‐Barents Sea, north of present‐day Norway. The geological structure resulting from the impact is today known as the Mjølnir crater. The present work attempts to model the generation and the propagation of the tsunami from the Mjølnir impact. A multi‐material hydrocode SOVA is used to model the impact and the early stages of tsunami generation, while models based on shallow‐water theories are used to study the subsequent wave propagation in the paleo‐Barents Sea. We apply several wave models of varying computational complexity. This includes both three‐dimensional and radially symmetric weakly dispersive and nonlinear Boussinesq equations, as well as equations based on nonlinear ray theory. These tsunami models require a reconstruction of the bathymetry of the paleo‐Barents Sea. The Mjølnir tsunami is characteristic of large bolides impacting in shallow sea; in this case the asteroid was about 1.6 km in diameter and the water depth was around 400 m. Contrary to earthquake‐ and slide‐generated tsunamis, this tsunami featured crucial dispersive and nonlinear effects: a few minutes after the impact, the ocean surface was formed into an undular bore, which developed further into a train of solitary waves. Our simulations indicate wave amplitudes above 200 m, and during shoaling the waves break far from the coastlines in rather deep water. The tsunami induced strong bottom currents, in the range of 30–90 km/h, which presumably caused a strong reworking of bottom sediments with dramatic consequences for the marine environment.  相似文献

Abstract— The potential hazard of a meteorite impact in the ocean is controversial with respect to the destructive power of generated large ocean waves (tsunamis). We used numerical modeling of hypervelocity impact to investigate the generation mechanism and the characteristics of the resulting waves up to a distance of 100–150 projectile radii. The wave signal is primarily controlled by the ratio between projectile diameter and water depth, and can be roughly classified into deep‐water and shallow‐water impacts. In the latter, the collapse of the crater rim results in a wave signal similar to solitary waves, which propagate and decay in agreement with shallow‐water wave theory. The much more likely scenario for an asteroid impact on Earth is a relatively small body (much smaller than the water depth) striking the deep sea. In this case, the collapse of the transient crater results in a significantly different and much more complex wave signal that is characterized by strong nonlinear behavior. We found that such waves decay much more rapidly than previously assumed and cannot be treated as long waves. For this reason, the shallow‐water theory is not applicable for the computation of wave propagation, and more complex models (full solution of the Boussinesq equations) are required.  相似文献

Abstract— On Earth, oceanic impacts are twice as likely to occur as continental impacts, yet the effect of the oceans has not been previously considered when estimating the terrestrial crater size‐frequency distribution. Despite recent progress in understanding the qualitative and quantitative effect of a water layer on the impact process through novel laboratory experiments, detailed numerical modeling, and interpretation of geological and geophysical data, no definitive relationship between impactor properties, water depth, and final crater diameter exists. In this paper, we determine the relationship between final (and transient) crater diameter and the ratio of water depth to impactor diameter using the results of numerical impact models. This relationship applies for normal incidence impacts of stoney asteroids into water‐covered, crystalline oceanic crust at a velocity of 15 km s?1. We use these relationships to construct the first estimates of terrestrial crater size‐frequency distributions (over the last 100 million years) that take into account the depth‐area distribution of oceans on Earth. We find that the oceans reduce the number of craters smaller than 1 km in diameter by about two‐thirds, the number of craters ?30 km in diameter by about one‐third, and that for craters larger than ?100 km in diameter, the oceans have little effect. Above a diameter of ?12 km, more craters occur on the ocean floor than on land; below this diameter more craters form on land than in the oceans. We also estimate that there have been in the region of 150 impact events in the last 100 million years that formed an impact‐related resurge feature, or disturbance on the seafloor, instead of a crater.  相似文献

The newly discovered Ritland impact structure (2.7?km in diameter) has been modeled by numerical simulation, based on detailed field information input. The numerical model applies the SOVA multi-material hydrocode, which uses the ANEOS equation of state for granite, describing thermodynamical properties of target and projectile material. The model displays crater formation and possible ejecta distribution that strongly supports a 100?m or less water depth at the time of impact. According to the simulations resurge processes and basinal syn- and postimpact sedimentation are highly dependent on water depth; in more than 100?m of water depth, much more powerful resurge processes are generated than at water depths shallower than 100?m (the Ritland case). In Ritland the 100?m high (modeled) crater rim formed a barrier and severely reduced the resurge processes. In the case of deeper water, powerful resurge processes, tsunami wave generations and related currents could have triggered even more violent crater fill sedimentation. The presented model demonstrates the importance of understanding the interactions between water layer and both syn-impact crater fill and ejecta distribution. According to the presented simulations ejecta blocks up to 10?m in diameter could be transported up to about 5?km outside the crater rim.  相似文献

Equilibrium models of heat transfer by heat conduction and thermal convection show that the three satellites of Jupiter—Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto—may have internal oceans underneath ice shells tens of kilometers to more than a hundred kilometers thick. A wide range of rheology and heat transfer parameter values and present-day heat production rates have been considered. The rheology was cast in terms of a reference viscosity ν0 calculated at the melting temperature and the rate of change A of viscosity with inverse homologous temperature. The temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity k of ice I has been taken into account by calculating the average conductivity along the temperature profile. Heating rates are based on a chondritic radiogenic heating rate of 4.5 pW kg−1 but have been varied around this value over a wide range. The phase diagrams of H2O (ice I) and H2O + 5 wt% NH3 ice have been considered. The ice I models are worst-case scenarios for the existence of a subsurface liquid water ocean because ice I has the highest possible melting temperature and the highest thermal conductivity of candidate ices and the assumption of equilibrium ignores the contribution to ice shell heating from deep interior cooling. In the context of ice I models, we find that Europa is the satellite most likely to have a subsurface liquid ocean. Even with radiogenic heating alone the ocean is tens of kilometers thick in the nominal model. If tidal heating is invoked, the ocean will be much thicker and the ice shell will be a few tens of kilometers thick. Ganymede and Callisto have frozen their oceans in the nominal ice I models, but since these models represent the worst-case scenario, it is conceivable that these satellites also have oceans at the present time. The most important factor working against the existence of subsurface oceans is contamination of the outer ice shell by rock. Rock increases the density and the pressure gradient and shifts the triple point of ice I to shallower depths where the temperature is likely to be lower then the triple point temperature. According to present knowledge of ice phase diagrams, ammonia produces one of the largest reductions of the melting temperature. If we assume a bulk concentration of 5 wt% ammonia we find that all the satellites have substantial oceans. For a model of Europa heated only by radiogenic decay, the ice shell will be a few tens of kilometers thinner than in the ice I case. The underlying rock mantle will limit the depth of the ocean to 80-100 km. For Ganymede and Callisto, the ice I shell on top of the H2O-NH3 ocean will be around 60- to 80-km thick and the oceans may be 200- to 350-km deep. Previous models have suggested that efficient convection in the ice will freeze any existing ocean. The present conclusions are different mainly because they are based on a parameterization of convective heat transport in fluids with strongly temperature dependent viscosity rather than a parameterization derived from constant-viscosity convection models. The present parameterization introduces a conductive stagnant lid at the expense of the thickness of the convecting sublayer, if the latter exists at all. The stagnant lid causes the temperature in the sublayer to be warmer than in a comparable constant-viscosity convecting layer. We have further modified the parameterization to account for the strong increase in homologous temperature, and therefore decrease in viscosity, with depth along an adiabat. This modification causes even thicker stagnant lids and further elevated temperatures in the well-mixed sublayer. It is the stagnant lid and the comparatively large temperature in the sublayer that frustrates ocean freezing.  相似文献

Throughout the recorded history of Mars, liquid water has distinctly shaped its landscape, including the prominent circum-Chryse and the northwestern slope valleys outflow channel systems, and the extremely flat northern plains topography at the distal reaches of these outflow channel systems. Paleotopographic reconstructions of the Tharsis magmatic complex reveal the existence of an Europe-sized Noachian drainage basin and subsequent aquifer system in eastern Tharsis. This basin is proposed to have sourced outburst floodwaters that sculpted the outflow channels, and ponded to form various hypothesized oceans, seas, and lakes episodically through time. These floodwaters decreased in volume with time due to inadequate groundwater recharge of the Tharsis aquifer system. Martian topography, as observed from the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter, corresponds well to these ancient flood inundations, including the approximated shorelines that have been proposed for the northern plains. Stratigraphy, geomorphology, and topography record at least one great Noachian-Early Hesperian northern plains ocean, a Late Hesperian sea inset within the margin of the high water marks of the previous ocean, and a number of widely distributed minor lakes that may represent a reduced Late Hesperian sea, or ponded waters in the deepest reaches of the northern plains related to minor Tharsis- and Elysium-induced Amazonian flooding.  相似文献

Jupiter's moon Europa may harbor an ocean beneath its ice cover, but the composition of that ocean and the overlying ice is nearly entirely unknown. Regardless of uncertainties in models for Europa's formation, we estimate lower limits for Europa's inventory of biogenic elements (such as C, N, O, and P) by investigating the contribution to the inventory of impact events over Europa's geologic history. A series of high-resolution hydrocode simulations were carried out over a range of comet densities (1.1, 0.8, and 0.6 g/cm3, corresponding to porosities between 0 and 45%) and impact velocities (16, 21.5, 26.5, and 30.5 km/s). We found that at typical impact velocities on Europa most impactor material reaches escape velocity, and it is assumed to be lost from Europa. For a nonporous comet, some fraction (20% or higher) of the projectile is retained by Europa even at the highest impact velocity modeled, 30.5 km/s. For porous comets, however, a significant fraction of the projectile (above 25%) is retained only for the lowest impact velocity modeled, 16 km/s. Integrated over solar system history, this suggests that 1 to 10 Gt of carbon could have been successfully delivered to Europa's surface by impacts of large comets (around 1 km in diameter). This is a few times more carbon than is contained in the procaryotic biomass of the upper 200 meters of the Earth's oceans, but about 2 orders of magnitude less if the whole depth of the oceans is considered. Therefore, regardless of its initial formation conditions, Europa should have a substantial inventory of “biogenic” elements, with implications for the chemistry of its oceans, ice cover, and the possibility of life.  相似文献

Abstract— Dynamic tensile strengths and fracture strengths of 3 terrestrial rocks, San Marcos gabbro, Coconino sandstone, and Sesia eclogite were determined by carrying out flat‐plate (PMMA and aluminum) impact experiments on disc‐shaped samples in the 5 to 60 m/sec range. Tensile stresses of 125 to 300 MPa and 245 to 580 MPa were induced for gabbro and eclogite, respectively (with duration time of ?1 μs). For sandstone (porosity 25%), tensile stresses normal to bedding of ?13 to 55 MPa were induced (with duration times of 2.4 and ?1.4 μs). Tensile crack failure was detected by the onset of shock‐induced (damage) P and S wave velocity reduction. The dynamic tensile strength of gabbro determined from P and S wave velocity deficits agrees closely with the value of previously determined values by post‐impact microscopic examination (?150 MPa). Tensile strength of Coconino sandstone is 20 MPa for a 14 μs duration time and 17 MPa for a 2.4 μs duration time. For Sesia eclogite, the dynamic tensile strength is ?240 MPa. The fracture strength for gabbro is ?250 MPa, ?500 MPa for eclogite, and ?40 MPa for sandstone. Relative crack‐induced reduction of S wave velocities is less than that of post‐impact P wave velocity reductions for both gabbro and eclogite, indicating that the cracks were predominantly spall cracks. Impacts upon planetary surfaces induce tensile failure within shock‐processed rocks beneath the resulting craters. The depth of cracking beneath impact craters can be determined both by seismic refraction methods for rocks of varying water saturation and, for dry conditions (e.g., the Moon), from gravity anomalies. In principle, depth of cracking is related to the equations‐of‐state of projectile and target, projectile dimension, and impact velocity. We constructed a crack‐depth model applicable to Meteor Crater. For the observed 850 m depth of cracking, our preferred strength scaling model yields an impact velocity of 33 km/s and impactor radius of 9 m for an iron projectile.  相似文献

The results of numerical simulations of the Eltanin impact are combined with the available geological data in order to reconstruct the impact dynamics and to get some constraints on the impact parameters. Numerical simulations show that the Eltanin projectile size should be less than 2 km for a 45° oblique impact and less than 1.5 km for a vertical impact. On the other hand, we demonstrate that the projectile diameter cannot be considerably smaller than 1 km; otherwise, the impact‐induced water flow cannot transport eroded sediments across large distances. The maximum displacement approximately equals the water crater radius and rapidly decreases with increasing distances. Numerical simulations also show that ejecta deposits strongly depend on impact angle and projectile size and, therefore, cannot be used for reliable estimates of the initial projectile mass. The initial amplitudes of tsunami‐like waves are estimated. The presence of clay‐rich sediments, typical for the abyssal basins in cores PS2709 and PS2708 on the Freeden Seamounts (Bellingshausen Sea, Southern Ocean) combined with numerical data allow us to suggest a probable point of impact to the east of the seamounts. The results do not exclude the possibility that a crater in the ocean bottom may exist, but such a structure has not been found yet.  相似文献

Abstract— Observations of impact craters on Earth show that a water column at the target strongly influences lithology and morphology of the resultant crater. The degree of influence varies with the target water depth and impactor diameter. Morphological features detectable in satellite imagery include a concentric shape with an inner crater inset within a shallower outer crater, which is cut by gullies excavated by the resurge of water. In this study, we show that if oceans, large seas, and lakes existed on Mars for periods of time, marine‐target craters must have formed. We make an assessment of the minimum and maximum amounts of such craters based on published data on water depths, extent, and duration of putative oceans within “contacts 1 and 2,” cratering rate during the different oceanic phases, and computer modeling of minimum impactor diameters required to form long‐lasting craters in the seafloor of the oceans. We also discuss the influence of erosion and sedimentation on the preservation and exposure of the craters. For an ocean within the smaller “contact 2” with a duration of 100,000 yr and the low present crater formation rate, only ?1–2 detectable marine‐target craters would have formed. In a maximum estimate with a duration of 0.8 Gyr, as many as 1400 craters may have formed. An ocean within the larger “contact 1‐Meridiani,” with a duration of 100,000 yr, would not have received any seafloor craters despite the higher crater formation rate estimated before 3.5 Gyr. On the other hand, with a maximum duration of 0.8 Gyr, about 160 seafloor craters may have formed. However, terrestrial examples show that most marine‐target craters may be covered by thick sediments. Ground penetrating radar surveys planned for the ESA Mars Express and NASA 2005 missions may reveal buried craters, though it is uncertain if the resolution will allow the detection of diagnostic features of marine‐target craters. The implications regarding the discovery of marine‐target craters on Mars is not without significance, as such discoveries would help address the ongoing debate of whether large water bodies occupied the northern plains of Mars and would help constrain future paleoclimatic reconstructions.

1995年前后,使用TOPEX/POSEIDON测高卫星资料。

Morphodynamics of deltas under the influence of humans   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8
A consistent database was established to characterize key environmental factors known to control delta morphology. The database includes the location, basin morphology, fluvial and sediment discharge to the deltas, delta morphology, ocean energy, and shelf depth reached by the sub-aqueous delta. Fifty-one deltas were selected to cover the global parameter range of rivers entering all major oceans and coastal seas. Seasonal satellite images of the deltas were processed (IKONOS, SPOT, LANDSAT, and MODIS). Predictive statistical relationships were obtained, suitable for hypothesis testing or to constrain/verify numerical models used to simulate the evolution of coastal systems. The area of a delta is best predicted from average discharge, the total sediment load feeding the delta, and the offshore accommodation space. The gradient of a delta plain, measured from the apex of the delta to the coast along the main channel, is best predicted with a ratio of sediment supply to sediment retention, sediment concentration used as a proxy of delta plain sedimentation, and mean water discharge. Widths of distributary channels form a lognormal distribution, with the cumulative width of the river mouths directly related to the maximum discharge, tidal and wave energy. The grain size of topset deposits scales with the river length. Hundreds of millions of people occupy deltas and human engineering is now a major influence on the growth and evolution of many deltas, through control of the flow path of distributary channels, and mitigation of the seasonal flood wave with concomitant change in the delivery of sediment load. More and more deltas are moving away from their pre-Anthropocene morphology, as influenced by pristine sediment supply and sediment dispersal.  相似文献

Abstract— The central uplift of the 40-km wide Araguainha impact structure, Brazil, consists of a ring, about 8 km in diameter, of up to 150-m high blocks of Devonian Furnas sandstone, which surround a central depression of elliptical shape (4.5 × 3.0 km). The depression is occupied by a pre-Devonian alkali-feldspar granite, shocked by pressures of 20–25 GPa and permeated by cataclastic shear zones and dikes of shocked granitic material. The granite is flanked and partly covered by several impact breccias: (1) Impact breccia with melt matrix overlies the granite in places and forms hills, bordering the granitic center in the S and SW. It is chemically identical with the granite and consists of thermally altered granitic clasts in a matrix of sanidine, quartz, biotite, muscovite, chlorite and riebeckite. (2) Polymict breccias form hills which border the central depression in the N and NW. Components are unshocked and shocked sediments, shock-melted sandstone, shocked granite and shock melt rocks in irregular masses and individual bodies, embedded in a fine-grained matrix. 40Ar/39Ar analyses show that the melt rocks solidified 246 Ma ago, indicating that the impact occurred at near the Permian-Triassic boundary, possibly when the area was covered by a shallow sea. The present chemistry and petrography of the melt rocks suggest that by reacting with seawater granitic impact melt was depleted of K and Rb and enriched in Na, and that later diagenetic processes produced replacement of feldspar by quartz and deposition of hematite. (3) Monomict breccias, consisting of unshocked, shocked and shock-fused quartz sandstones, form hills which surround the central depression in the SE and S. The Araguainha structure is an eroded complex crater, produced by an impact, 246 Ma ago. The depth of excavation was about 2.4 km, comprising Permian, Permo-Carboniferous and Devonian sediments and the granitic basement. The diameter of the transient crater was about 24 km. Erosion and weathering have removed most of the original crater fill and ejecta deposits, with the exception of remnants, preserved in the central uplift.  相似文献

Terrestrial planets, with silicate mantles and metallic cores, are likely to obtain water and carbon compounds during accretion. Here I examine the conditions that allow early formation of a surface water ocean (simultaneous with cooling to clement surface conditions), and the timeline of degassing the planetary interior into the atmosphere. The greatest fraction of a planet’s initial volatile budget is degassed into the atmosphere during the end of magma ocean solidification, leaving only a small fraction of the original volatiles to be released into the atmosphere through later volcanism. Rocky planets that accrete with water in their bulk mantle have two mechanisms for producing an early water ocean: First, if they accrete with at least 1 to 3 mass% of water in their bulk composition, liquid water may be extruded onto the planetary surface at the end of magma ocean solidification. Second, at initial water contents as low as 0.01 mass% or lower, during solidification a massive supercritical fluid and steam atmosphere is produced that collapses into a water ocean upon cooling. The low water contents required for this process indicate that rocky super-Earth exoplanets may be expected to commonly produce water oceans within tens to hundreds of millions of years of their last major accretionary impact, through collapse of their atmosphere.  相似文献

Disturbances in the Earths’s ionosphere and magnetosphere caused by impacts of small comets and asteroids (with diameters from 50–60 m to 1–2 km) are analyzed. Two-dimensional hydrodynamical computations of the passage of a cosmic body through the atmosphere with allowance for deceleration and destruction due to aerodynamic loading and formation of the wake behind the body are performed. The tenuous wake facilitates an upward ejection of the plume (heated air and ablation products of the cosmic body). Numerical simulations of the motion of the plume and of its interaction with the geomagnetic field are performed. It is shown that part of the plume moves at higher than escape velocity. The rising plume operates as an MHD generator. Field-aligned currents heat the ionosphere and change its conductivity. The estimated magnetic variations are on the order of those of typical magnetic storms (for bodies with sizes comparable to the Tunguska meteorite) and are even higher for cosmic bodies with diameters of 200–400 m. Excitation of MHD waves is demonstrated. These disturbances are capable of triggering precipitation of particles from radiation belts and exciting intense electromagnetic noise. Strong oscillations of conducting ionospheric layers propagate radially from the place of impact of the low-velocity part of the plume to large distances from the impact point. For a 1-km body the energy of the high-velocity plume is comparable to that of the Earths’s magnetic field. This causes extremely intense magnetospheric disturbances. However, even 200-to 400-m bodies whose high-velocity part of the plume has energies exceeding 0.4–3 Mt TNT—i.e., much lower than the initial kinetic energy of the intruding body—produce global ionospheric and magnetospheric disturbances.  相似文献

Radarclinometry is a powerful technique for estimating heights of landforms in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images of planetary surfaces. In particular, it has been used to estimate heights of dunes in the sand seas of Saturn’s moon Titan (Lorenz, R.D., and 39 colleagues [2006]. Science 312, 724-727). In this work, we verify the technique by comparing dune heights derived from radarclinometry to known topography of dune fields in the Namib sand sea of western Africa. We compared results from three different image grid spacings, and found that 350 m/pixel (the same spacing at which the Cassini RADAR data was processed) is sufficient to determine dune height for dunes of similar morphometry to those of the Namib sand sea. At this grid spacing, height estimates derived from radarclinometry are largely representative of, though may underestimate by as much as 30%, or overestimate by as much as 40%, true dune height. Applying the technique to three regions on Titan, we estimate dune heights of 45-180 m, and dune spacings of 2.3-3.3 km. Obtaining accurate heights of Titan’s dunes will help to constrain the total organic inventory on Titan.  相似文献

Abstract— The Lockne crater in Sweden is a marine‐target crater, formed in a shelf sea, approximately 460 Ma ago. The crater structure consists of an inner crater surrounded by an outer, inclined surface that extends to almost 12 km from the center. Marine craters differ in several respects from craters formed on land. One special feature is the formation of resurge gullies excavated by the erosional force of the resurging sea water after the impact. The formation of these gullies strongly depends on the ratio crater‐rim height to water depth, as well as on the size of the impact structure. Such gullies are known from very few marine‐target craters. At the Lockne impact site, four gullies are identified, each of which cuts radially through the rim of the outer crater. The rapid collapse of that part of the crater cavity, which formed in the seawater, resulted in forceful flooding of the crater. The resurging seawater not only contained fallback‐ejecta; on its way towards the cavity on the sea‐bottom it incorporated fractured lithologies from the sea‐bottom as well. This entrained material disintegrated during transport and constitutes today the dominantly monomict lower part of the resurge sequence. The resurge flood was highly turbulent, highly erosive, and developed to a probable hyperconcentrated flow or a possible water flood. The erosion in the gullies proceeded as headward erosion down to the transition zone between the brecciated and the less disintegrated crystalline basement.  相似文献

Abstract— In Leon County, Texas, USA, the Marquez Dome, an approximately circular 1.2 km diameter zone of disturbed Cretaceous rocks surrounded by shallow dipping Tertiary sediments, has been interpreted by Gibson and Sharpton (1989) and Sharpton and Gibson (1990) as the surface expression of a buried complex impact crater. New gravity and magnetic anomaly data collected over the Marquez Dome have been combined with well‐log and seismic reflection information to develop a better estimate of the overall geometry of the structure. A three‐dimensional model constructed to a depth of 2000 m from all available information indicates a complex crater 13 km in diameter with an uplift in the center of at least 1120 m. The zone of deformation associated with the cratering event is limited to a depth of <1720 m. No impact breccias were recovered in drilling at two locations, 1.1 and 2 km from the center of the structure, and the central uplift may be the only prominent remnant of this impact into unconsolidated, water‐rich sediments. The magnetic anomaly field shows no correlation with the location and extent of the structure.  相似文献
