Isotopic compositions of organic (δ13C-Corg) and carbonate (δ13C-Ccarb) carbon were analyzed in the particulate matter (hereafter, particulates) and sediments from the North and Middle Caspian basins. Isotopic composition of Corg was used for assessing proportions of the allochthonous and autochthonous organic matter in the particulates. Difference between the δ13C-Corg values in surface sediments and particulates is explained by the aerobic and anaerobic diagenetic transformations. Isotopic composition of Corg in sediments may be used as a tool for reconstructing the Quaternary transgressive-regressive history of the Caspian Sea.  相似文献

The primary production and fluxes of organic matter to the seabed and their variations were estimated in the Greenland, Barents, Kara, Laptev, East Siberian, and Chukchi seas in 2003–2012 on the basis of satellite and in situ data. When counting the open water area with the assumptions made for the assessment of the primary production in the sea areas hidden under clouds, an increase in primary production was recorded in all these seas, the total production (phytoplankton and ice algae) has grown from 250 × 106 to 400 × 106 t of C per year over the last ten years. The calculation of the OM flux to the seabed showed growth for certain seas from 4 to 12% per year.  相似文献

The chemical composition of organic matter (Corg, Norg, δ13C, δ15N, and n-alkanes) was studied in the top layer of bottom sediments of the East Siberian Sea. Possible ways were proposed to estimate the amount of the terrigenous component in their organic matter (OM). The fraction of terrigenous OM estimated by the combined use of genetic indicators varied from 15% in the eastern part of the sea, near the Long Strait, to 95% in the estuaries of the Indigirka and Kolyma rivers, averaging 62% over the sea area.  相似文献

The Kara Sea is an area uniquely suitable for studying processes in the river-sea system. This is a shallow sea into which two great Siberian rivers, Yenisei and Ob, flow. From 1995 to 2003, the sea was studied by six international expeditions aboard the R/V Akademik Boris Petrov. This publication summarizes the results obtained, within the framework of this project, at the Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences. Various hydrogeochemical parameters, concentrations and isotopic composition of organic and carbonate carbon of the sediments, plankton, particulate organic matter, hydrocarbons, and dissolved CO2 were examined throughout the whole sea area at more than 200 sites. The δ13C varies from −22 and −24‰ where Atlantic waters enter the Kara Sea and in the North-eastern part of the water area to −27‰ in the Yenisei and Ob estuaries. The value of δ13C of the plankton is only weakly correlated with the δ13C of the organic matter from the sediments and is lower by as much as 3–4‰. The paper presents the results obtained from a number of meridional river-sea profiles. It was determined from the relations between the isotopic compositions of plankton and particulate matter that the riverwaters carry material consisting of 70% detrital-humus matter and 30% planktonogenic material in the river part, and the material contained in the off-shore waters consists of 30% terrigenous components, with the contribution of bioproducers amounting to 70%. The carbon isotopic composition of the plankton ranges from −29 to −35‰ in the riverine part, from −28 to −27‰ in the estuaries, and from −27.0 to −25% in the marine part. The relative lightness of the carbon isotopic composition of plankton in Arctic waters is explained by the temperature effect, elevated CO2 concentrations, and long-distance CO2 supply to the sea with riverwaters. The data obtained on the isotopic composition of CO2 in the surface waters of the Kara Sea were used to map the distribution of δ13CCO 2. The complex of hydrocarbon gases extracted from the waters included methane, C2–C5, and unsaturated C2=–C4= hydrocarbons, for which variations in the concentrations in the waters were studied along river-estuary-sea profiles. The geochemistry of hydrocarbon gases in surface fresh waters is characterized by comparable concentrations of methane (0.3–5 μl/l) and heavier hydrocarbons, including unsaturated ones. Microbiological methane with δ13C from −105 to −90‰ first occurs in the sediments at depths of 40–200 cm. The sediments practically everywhere display traces of methane oxidation in the form of a shift of the δ13C of methane toward higher values and the occurrence of autogenic carbonate material, including ikaite, enriched in the light isotope. Ikaite (δ13C from −25 to −60‰) was found and examined in several profiles. The redox conditions in the sediments varied from normal in the southern part of the sea to highly oxidized along the Novaya Zemlya Trough. Vertical sections through the sediments of the latter exemplify the complete suppression of the biochemical activity of microorganisms. Our data provide insight into the biogeochemistry of the Kara Sea and make it possible to specify the background values needed for ecological control during the future exploration operations and extraction of hydrocarbons in the Kara Sea. Organic carbon, sulphur, 13Corg, iron, manganese and calcium have been measured across a subsurface-weathering front in Pliocene sediments in southern Sicily. The results show an almost quantitative removal of Corg and sulphur and an increase in iron and manganese oxides over the weathering front, accompanied with a significant shift of the 13Corg to lower values. These data are among the first to support the rapid, extensive weathering of sedimentary organic matter and sulphur, a basic assumption made in global biogeochemical models on a Phanerozoic timescale.  相似文献

We use the evolution of river sediment characteristics and sedimentary Corg from the Himalayan range to the delta to study the transport of Corg in the Ganga-Brahmaputra system and especially its fate during floodplain transit.A detailed characterisation of both mineral and organic particles for a sampling set of river sediments allows taking into account the sediment heterogeneity characteristic of such large rivers. We study the relationships between sediment characteristics (mineralogy, grain size, specific area) and Corg content in order to evaluate the controls on Corg loading. Contributions of C3 and C4 plants are estimated from Corg stable isotopic composition (δ13Corg). We use the evolution of δ13Corg values from the Himalayan range to the delta in order to study the fate of Corg during floodplain transit.Ganga and Brahmaputra sediments define two distinct linear relations with specific area. In spite of 4-5 times higher specific area, Ganga sediments have similar Corg content, grain size and mineralogy as Brahmaputra sediments, indicating that specific area does not exert a primary control on Corg loading. The general correlation between the total Corg content and Al/Si ratio indicates that Corg loading is mainly related to: (1) segregation of organic particles under hydrodynamic forces in the river, and (2) the ability of mineral particles to form organo-mineral aggregates.Bed and suspended sediments have distinct δ13Corg values. In bed sediments, δ13Corg values are compatible with a dominant proportion of fossil Corg derived from Himalayan rocks erosion. Suspended sediments from Himalayan tributaries at the outflow of the range have low δ13Corg values (−24.8‰ average) indicating a dominant proportion of C3 plant inputs. In the Brahmaputra basin, δ13Corg values of suspended sediments are constant along the river course in the plain. On the contrary, suspended sediments of the Ganga in Bangladesh have higher δ13Corg values (−22.4‰ to −20.0‰), consistent with a significant contribution of C4 plant derived from the floodplain. Our data indicate that, during the plain transit, more than 50% of the recent biogenic Corg coming from the Himalaya is oxidised and replaced by floodplain Corg. This renewal process likely occurs during successive deposition-erosion cycles and river course avulsions in the plain.  相似文献

Small rivers draining mountain islands are important in the transfer of terrestrial particulate organic carbon (POC) to the oceans. This input has implications for the geochemical stratigraphic record. We have investigated the stable isotopic composition of POC (δ13Corg) in rivers draining the mountains of Taiwan. In 15 rivers, the suspended load has a mean δ13Corg that ranges from −28.1±0.8 to −22.0±0.2 (on average 37 samples per river) over the interval of our study. To investigate this variability we have supplemented suspended load data with measurements of POC in bedrock and river bed materials, and constraints on the composition of the terrestrial biomass. Fossil POC in bedrock has a range in δ13Corg from −25.4±1.5 to −19.7±2.3 between the major geological formations. Using coupled δ13Corg and N/C we have found evidence in the suspended load for mixing of fossil POC with non-fossil POC from the biosphere. In two rivers outside the Taiwan Central Range anthropogenic land use appears to influence δ13Corg, resulting in more variable and lower values than elsewhere. In all other catchments, we have found that 5 variability in δ13Corg is not controlled by the variable composition of the biomass, but instead by heterogeneous fossil POC.In order to quantify the fraction of suspended load POC derived from non-fossil sources (Fnf) as well as the isotopic composition of fossil POC (δ13Cfossil) carried by rivers, we adapt an end-member mixing model. River suspended sediments and bed sediments indicate that mixing of fossil POC results in a negative trend between N/C and δ13Corg that is distinct from the addition of non-fossil POC, collapsing multiple fossil POC end-members onto a single mixing trend. As an independent test of the model, Fnf reproduces the fraction modern (Fmod) in our samples, determined from 14C measurements, to within 0.09 at the 95% confidence level. Over the sampling period, the mean Fnf of suspended load POC was low (0.29 ± 0.02, n = 459), in agreement with observations from other mountain rivers where physical erosion rates are high and fossil POC enters river channels. The mean δ13Cfossil in suspended POC varied between −25.2±0.5 and −20.2±0.6 from catchment to catchment. This variability is primarily controlled by the distribution of the major geological formations. It also covers entirely the range of δ13Corg found in marine sediments which is commonly thought to derive from mixing between marine and terrigenous POC. If land-sourced POC is preserved in marine sediments, then changes in the bulk δ13Corg observed offshore Taiwan could instead be explained by changes in the onshore provenance of sediment. The range in δ13Corg of fossil organic matter in sedimentary rocks exposed at the surface is large and given the importance of these rocks as a source of clastic sediment to the oceans, care should be taken in accounting for fossil POC in marine deposits supplied by active mountain belts.  相似文献

The isotopic composition of carbon from the organic matter of late Jurassic oil shales from the Volgian-Pechora shale province is studied. The existence of a dependence between Corg content in the rock and the isotopic composition of kerogen carbon is ascertained. The content of the heavy carbon isotope increases with increasing Corg. This dependence is accounted for by the progressive accumulation of isotopically heavy hydrocarbons of the initial organic matter due to sulfurization. The data on the isotopic composition of individual n-alkanes of bitumen in the rocks and the data on the absence of isotopic fractionation between thermobitumen and the residual kerogen from oil shales from the Volgian-Pechora shale province obtained by treating shale in an autoclave in the presence of water are presented first in this paper.  相似文献

Stable carbon isotopic composition of organic matter (δ13Corg) and compound-specific δ13C values of biomarkers from 15 lacustrine source rocks were analyzed to identify the original paleoenvironment and source organisms. The δ13C values of hopanes (δ13Chop) ranged from −68.7‰ to −32‰ and exhibit strongly 13C-depleted values in the lower part of Member 1 of the Nenjiang Formation (K2n1, up to −68.7‰), suggesting an origin from predominantly methanotrophic bacteria. 13C-enriched δ13CGa values and significantly 13C-depleted δ13Chop in K2n1, which coincide with water stratification and an intermittent anoxic photic zone, represents a shallow chemocline. The presence of an intermittent anoxic photic zone, which means that the anoxia expanded into the euphotic zone, is beneficial for OM preservation and results in high values of TOC and HI in this section. However, the absence of gammacerane and 13C-enrichment of δ13Chop in Member 2 of Nenjiang Formation (K2n2) reflect a deeper chemocline, corresponding to relatively oxidizing conditions and low values of TOC and HI. Moreover, the negative correlation of TOC vs δ13Corg and HI vs δ13Corg reflects the control of OM formation by sedimentary environments rather than productivity in the water column. Thus, the depth of the chemocline not only controls the abundance of OM but also affects the development of the microbial community, such as chemoautotrophic bacteria in the deep chemocline and chemoautotrophic and methanotrophic bacteria in the shallow chemocline. Moreover, δ13CGa and δ13C values for 4-methyl steranes are related to water salinity, with a higher salinity accompanied by 13C-enrichment in gammacerane and 4-methyl steranes.  相似文献

As an indicator for terrestrial paleovegetation, the stable isotopic composition of total organic matter (δ13Corg) in loess sediments has been widely used for paleoclimatic reconstruction in western Europe, the Great Plains of North America and the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP). However, little is known about the variation and paleoclimatic significance of the loess δ13Corg in arid Central Asia (ACA). We report δ13Corg data from an Axike (AXK) loess/paleosol profile from the eastern Ili Basin, eastern Central Asia. Along the profile, the δ13Corg values were more negative in the paleosol layers observed in the field and were confirmed by environmental magnetic proxies and a higher concentration of total organic carbon (TOC), consistent with results for western Europe and the northwestern CLP. Our results demonstrate that the loess δ13Corg in this region documents mainly the response of δ13C of locally predominant C3 plants to paleoclimatic variation, especially paleoprecipitation. Our results also suggest that the loess δ13Corg values in the area have the potential for quantitative paleoprecipitation reconstruction on the basis of detailed δ13Corg results from modern plants and surface soils in the future.  相似文献

The contribution of soil organic matter (SOM) to continental margins is largely ignored in studies on the carbon budget of marine sediments. Detailed geochemical investigations of late Quaternary sediments (245-0 ka) from the Niger and Congo deep-sea fans, however, reveal that Corg/Ntot ratios and isotopic signatures of bulk organic matter (δ13Corg) in both fans are essentially determined by the supply of various types of SOM from the river catchments thus providing a fundamentally different interpretation of established proxies in marine sciences. On the Niger fan, increased Corg/Ntot and δ13Corg (up to −17‰) were driven by generally nitrogen-poor but 13C-enriched terrigenous plant debris and SOM from C4/C3 vegetation/Entisol domains (grass- and tree-savannah on young, sandy soils) supplied during arid climate conditions. Opposite, humid climates supported drainage of C3/C4 vegetation/Alfisol/Ultisol domains (forest and tree-savannah on older/developed, clay-bearing soils) that resulted in lower Corg/Ntot and δ13Corg (< −20‰) in the Niger fan record. Sediments from the Congo fan contain a thermally stable organic fraction that is absent on the Niger fan. This distinct organic fraction relates to strongly degraded SOM of old and highly developed, kaolinite-rich ferallitic soils (Oxisols) that cover large areas of the Congo River basin. Reduced supply of this nitrogen-rich and 12C-depleted SOM during arid climates is compensated by an elevated input of marine OM from the high-productive Congo up-welling area. This climate-driven interplay of marine productivity and fluvial SOM supply explains the significantly smaller variability and generally lower values of Corg/Ntot and δ13Corg for the Congo fan records. This study emphasizes that ignoring the presence of SOM results in a severe underestimation of the terrigenous organic fraction leading to erroneous paleoenvironmental interpretations at least for continental margin records. Furthermore, burial of SOM in marine sediments needs more systematic investigation combining marine and continental sciences to assess its global relevance for long-term sequestration of atmospheric CO2.  相似文献

The stable carbon isotope composition in surface soil organic matter (δ13Csoil) contains integrative information on the carbon isotope composition of the standing terrestrial plants (δ13Cleaf). In order to obtain valuable vegetation information from the δ13C of terrestrial sediment, it is necessary to understand the relationship between the δ13C value in modern surface soil and the standing vegetation. In this paper, we studied the δ13C value in modern surface soil organic matter and standing vegetation in arid areas in China, Australia and the United States. The isotopic discrepancy between δ13Csoil and δ13Cleaf of the standing dominant vegetation was examined in those different arid regions. The results show that the δ13Csoil values were consistently enriched compared to the δ13Cleaf. The δ13Cleaf values were positively correlated with δ13Csoil, which suggests that the interference of microorganisms and hydrophytes on the isotopic composition of surface soil organic matter during soil organic matter formation could be ignored in arid regions. The averaged discrepancy between δ13Csoil and δ13Cleaf is about 1.71%in Tamarix L. in the Tarim Basin in China, 1.50% in Eucalytus near Orange in Australia and 1.22% in Artemisia in Saratoga in the United States, which are different from the results of other studies. The results indicate that the discrepancies in the δ13C value between surface soil organic matter and standing vegetation were highly influenced by the differences in geophysical location and the dominant species of the studied ecosystems. We suggest that caution should be taken when organic matter δ13C in terrestrial sediment is used to extract paleovegetation information (C3/C4 vegetation composition), as the δ13C in soil organic matter is not only determined by the ratio of C3/C4 species, but also profoundly affected by climate change induced variation in the δ13C in dominant species.  相似文献

The group composition of organic matter (OM) was studied in the channel sediments of the Pakhra River under natural condition and in the zone affected by the town of Podol’sk, Moscow oblast. It was found that the natural alluvium is poor in OM (Corg = 0.65%), the composition of which is dominated by humus acids (81.8% of Corg) at minor fractions of residual OM (16.7%) and lipids (1.5%). Anthropogenic muds formed in the river channel in the zone affected by urban pollution are conspicuous in high OM content (Corg = 1.26–2.60%), the composition of which is enriched in lipids (up to 10–20%) and residual OM (up to 27.3–48.6%), whereas the fraction of humus acids decreases to 29.6–57.1%. The muds are most significantly enriched in lipids (their specific concentration increases by factors of 6–59 compared with the natural alluvium) and residual OM (by factors of 3–11). The amount and character of the group composition of OM from anthropogenic muds are controlled by the specific features of the sources of sedimentary material in the river and the character of the environment of alluvium sedimentation in the zone affected by an industrial town.  相似文献

292 chemical composition data and 82 isotopic composition data of gas samples collected from the Taibei Depression of the Turpan-Hami Basin, West China, were used in the study of their origin. Non-hydrocarbon gas is poor in most samples whereas abundant nitrogen in some samples is positively correlated with δ13C1. Although methane is the main constituent, higher molecular gaseous hydrocarbons, from ethane to pentane, are detected in most samples, in accordance with the distribution of oil reservoirs. The stable carbon isotope ratios of methane, eth-ane and propane are defined as d13C1: -45.5‰ to -33.5‰, d13C2: -30.2‰ to -10.5‰, and d13C3: 27.6‰ to -11.2‰, respectively. According to the distribution of carbon isotope ratios, 2 families of gas can be grouped, most showing normal distribution of carbon isotopes, and others having obvious heavier carbon isotopes and being of abnormal distribution. Based on the isotopic composition, the disagreement between the relationship of Δ(d13C1-d13C2) and d13C2 and that of Δ(d13C1-d13C2) and d13C2, and the calculated Ro, there are oil-associated gas, coal-derived gas and mixture of them. Other samples with obviously heavier isotopic compositions from the Yanmuxi oilfield of the Taibei Depression have been degraded by organisms.  相似文献

Recent data were summarized on the concentration and mass of inorganic and organic carbon in reservoirs of the Earth’s hydrosphere. We compared carbon masses and accumulation conditions in the surface hydrosphere and waters of the sedimentary shell and proportions between carbonate, dissolved, and suspended particulate organic carbon. It was shown that the total masses of carbon in the surface hydrosphere and in the waters of the sedimentary shell are approximately equal to 80 × 1018 g C at an organic to carbonate carbon ratio of 1 : 36 and 1 : 43, respectively. Three main forms of organic compounds in the ocean (living organisms, suspended particles, and dissolved species) occur in the proportion 1 : 13 : 250 and form the pyramid of masses 4 × 1015 g, 50 × 1015 g, and 1000 × 1015 g Corg. The descending sequence of the organic to carbonate carbon ratio in water, ocean (1 : 36) > glaciers (1 : 8) > lakes (1 : 2) > rivers (1 : 0.6) > wetlands (1 : 0.3), is in general consistent with an increase in the same direction in the mean concentrations of organic matter: 0.77 mg Corg/L in the ocean, 0.7 mg Corg/L in glaciers, 6–30 mg Corg/L in lakes, 15 mg Corg/L in rivers, and 75 mg Corg/L in wetlands. Both the mean concentrations and masses of dissolved organic matter in the pore waters of oceanic sediments and in the waters of the sedimentary shell are similar: 36–37 mg/L and 5 × 1018 and 5.6 × 1018 g, respectively. The mass of carbonate carbon in the pore waters of the ocean, (19–33) × 1018 g, is comparable with its mass in the water column, 38.1 × 1018 g.  相似文献

A combination of δ 13C values with C/N ratios in suspended matter has been used to examine the seasonal relationship between C4 and C3 vegetation along the Loess Plateau, NW China. The C isotopic composition of suspended organic matter in rivers, together with C/N ratios can differentiate between soil and plant material, and can be used to estimate the relative contributions of soil organic C and plant litter to the suspended matter. The relationship between C isotopic composition and C/N ratios indicates that the samples are a mixture of two end members: (1) modern soils with relatively constant δ 13C values, low C content and low C/N ratios; (2) plant litter with varying δ 13C values, high C content and high C/N ratios. The results reflect the seasonal distribution of C4/C3 vegetation within the area studied, as part of the Loess Plateau. The abundance of C4 grasses is about 20% for the current summer vegetation ecosystem in the eastern part of the Loess Plateau. Hence, the use of δ 13C values and C/N ratios of suspended matter in rivers and modern soil may be useful for reflecting seasonal distribution of C4/C3 vegetation in catchments. This could be a useful tool for distinguishing between catchments for GIS studies, and long term planning for ecological management of catchment areas.  相似文献

The presence of rocks capable of generating hydrocarbons (HC) in the section of sedimentaryrock basins is an essential criterion for their qualification as structures with oil and gas pools. Although organic matter (OM) is always present as dissemination in genetically different sediments, it is believed that rocks enriched with OM of the sapropel series (2 to 3% Corg) can generate a significant amount of liquid HC. However, rock sequences with the Corg ranging from 3–5 to 15–20% are considered oil source formations. The rock section of large petroliferous basins usually includes one or two source sequences, which generated liquid and gaseous HCs after submergence to high temperature and pressures zones. In the basin confined to the Arctic slope of Alaska, one of the main producers of liquid HC is represented by the Upper Triassic clays and limestones of the Shublik Formation. In the Barents Sea and North Sea basins, such rocks are represented by the Spekk Formation and the Kimmeridge Clay, respectively; in the West Siberian basin, by the Bazhenovo Formation; in the Persian Gulf, by the Fahlian, Sargelu, and Garau formations; in basins of the Caribbean region, by marls and clayey limestones of the La Luna Formation. In perioceanic basins of the South Atlantic, the major source sequences are represented by the Neocomian and Barremian clays and marls. The source rocks are identified as the Lagoa Feia Formation in the Campos and Santos basins. They are cognized as the Black Marlstone or Bukomazi Formation in the Lower Congo, Kwanzaa-Cameroon, and Angola basins.  相似文献

During the Ordovician, huge biological revolutions and environmental changes happened in Earth’s history, including the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event, global cooling and so on, but the cause of these events remains controversial. Herein, we conducted a paired carbon isotopic analysis of carbonate (δ13Ccarb) and organic matter (δ13Corg) through the Ordovician in the Qiliao section on the Yangtze platform of South China. Our results showed that the δ13Ccarb trend of the Qiliao section can be correlated with local and global curves. The δ13Corg trend seems is less clear than the δ13Ccarb trend for stratigraphic correlations, but some δ13Corg positive excursions in the Middle and Upper Ordovician may be used for correlation studies. These carbon isotopic records may have global significance rather than local significance, revealing several fluctuations to the global carbon cycle during the Ordovician. Several known δ13Ccarb and δ13Corg negative and positive excursions have been recognised in this study, including the early Floian Negative Inorganic Carbon (δ13Ccarb) Excursion (EFNICE), as well as the early Floian Positive Organic Carbon (δ13Ccarb) Excursion, the mid-Darriwilian Inorganic Carbon (δ13Ccarb and δ13Corg) Excursion (MDICE), and the early Katian Guttenberg Inorganic Carbon (δ13Ccarb and δ13Corg) Excursion (GICE). These positive excursions and a smooth decline trend of δ13Corg values during the early to mid-Floian may imply multiple episodes of enhanced organic carbon burial that began at the early Floian stage, probably resulting in further decline in atmospheric pCO2 and then global cooling.  相似文献

Oxygen and hydrogen isotope analysis was performed to study the processes of distribution of water masses and modification of their salinity in the Russian Arctic seas. A wealth of new isotopic data was obtained for freshwater (river runoff, Novaya Zemlya glaciers) and seawater samples collected along a set of extended 2D profiles in the Barents, Kara, and Laptev Seas. The study presents the first δD values measured for the Northeast Atlantic Deep Water NEADW dominated the water column of the Barents Sea (S = 34.90 ± 0.05, δD = +1.55 ± 0.4‰, δ18O = +0.26 ± 0.1‰, n = 44). This water mass is present in the Kara Sea and western Laptev Sea. The relationship between δD, δ18О, and salinity data was used to calculate the fractions of waters of different origin, including the fractions of continental runoff in waters of the Barents, Kara, and Laptev Seas. It was shown that the relationships between the isotopic parameters (δD, δ18О) and salinity in waters of the Kara and Laptev Seas is controlled by the intensity of continental runoff and sea ice processes. Sea ice formation is the main factor controlling the formation of the water column on the Laptev Sea shelf, whereas the surface waters of the middle Kara Sea are dominated by the contribution of river runoff. A very strong stratification in the Kara Sea is caused by the presence of a relatively fresh surface layer mostly contributed by estuarine water inputs from the Ob and Yenisei Rivers. The contribution of river waters reaches 40–60% in the surface layer in the central part of the sea and decreases to a few percent down 100 m water depth. Stratification in the western part of the Laptev Sea is controlled by the contribution of freshwater input from the Lena River and modification of salinity by sea ice formation.  相似文献
