Observations of the solar eclipse on March 29, 2006, at the Laboratory of Radio Astronomy of the CrAO showed that the radio radius of the Sun at a wavelength of 1 m in the direction of the first contact was R d = 1.12 R during solar activity minimum between cycles 23 and 24. The brightness temperature of the undisturbed Sun was T d = (0.6 ± 0.06) × 106 K. There was a noise storm source above the sunspot group NOAA 0865 whose bright nucleus had a size of 1′.3 and a brightness temperature T b = 16 × 106 K. The noise storm bursts were emitted from the region of the bright nucleus above the group NOAA 0865 and were absent during its covering by the disk of the Moon. Thermal radiation from a coronal condensation with a brightness temperature of (1?2) × 106 K extending out from the visible solar disk to 2′.7 was observed during the eclipse above the eastern limb sunspot group NOAA 0866. The bright nucleus in this limb source appeared 42 min after eclipse termination and persisted in the ensuing days. This may be indicative of the time of its emergence from behind the radio horizon formed by regular refraction of radio waves in the corona. The refractive displacement was measured by comparison with the eclipse observations at a shorter wavelength of 12 cm. Its value of 0′.96 is close to the calculated value of 0′.8.  相似文献

We describe the technique and results of modelling the solar radio emission during the maximum phase of the solar eclipse of March 29, 2006 on the RATAN-600. The aim of modelling is to refine the brightness temperature of the solar corona at the distances up to two solar radii from the center of the optical disk of the Sun. We obtained the distribution of brightness temperature in the vicinity of the coronal hole above the solar North Pole at the wavelength of 13 cm. The results of modelling showed that brightness temperatures of the coronal hole at the distances greater than 1.02 RC (here RC is the radius of the optical disk of the Sun) is substantially lower than the expected average brightness temperature of a typical coronal hole, and that of the quiescent Sun (below 30000 K) at the wavelength of 13 cm. The classical Baumbach-Allen formula for electron density in a spherically symmetric corona agrees with the results of observations starting at distances of (1.4–1.5) RC.  相似文献

We measured the brightness of the white light corona at the total solar eclipses on 1 August 2008 and 22 July 2009, when solar activity was at its lowest in one hundred years. After careful calibration, the brightness of the corona in both eclipses was evaluated to be approximately 0.4×10?6 of the total brightness of the Sun, which is the lowest level ever observed. Furthermore, the total brightness of the K+F-corona beyond 3R in both eclipses is lower than some of the previous measurements of the brightness of the F-corona only. Our accurate measurements of the coronal brightness provide not only the K-corona brightness during a period of very low solar activity but also a reliable upper limit of the brightness of the F-corona.  相似文献

We observed Saturn at far-infrared and submillimeter wavelengths during the Earth's March 1980 passage through the plane of Saturn's rings. Comparison with earlier spectroscopic observations by D. B. Ward [Icarus32, 437–442 (1977)], obtained at a time when the tilt angle of the rings was 21.8°, permits separation of the disk and ring contributions to the flux observed in this wavelength range. We present two main results: (1) The observed emission of the disk between 60 and 180 μm corresponds to a brightness temperature of 104 ± 2°K; (2) the brightness temperature of the rings drops approximately 20°K between 60 and 80 μm. Our data, in conjunction with the data obtained by other observers between 1 μm and 1 mm, permit us to derive an improved estimate for the total Saturnian surface brightness of (4.84 ± 0.32) × 10?4W cm?2 corresponding to an effective temperature of 96.1 ± 1.6°K. The ratio of radiated to incident power, PR/PI, is (1.46 ± 0.08)/(1 - A), where A is the Bond albedo. For A = 0.337 ± 0.029, PR/PI = 2.20 ± 0.15 and Saturn's intrinsic luminosity is LS = (2.9 ± 0.5) × 10?10L.  相似文献

We give the treated results of our CCD polarimetric data of the solar corona obtained during the 1997-03-09 total eclipse, including the profiles of absolute brightness and degree of polarization along 12 directions (including the two equatorial and two polar directions) in the middle corona (1.6−3.2 R)  相似文献

Coronal density, temperature, and heat-flux distributions for the equatorial and polar corona have been deduced from Saito’s model of averaged coronal white-light (WL) brightness and polarization observations. These distributions are compared with those determined from a kinetic collisionless/exospheric model of the solar corona. This comparison indicates similar distributions at large radial distances (>?7 R) in the collisionless region. However, rather important differences are found close to the Sun in the acceleration region of the solar wind. The exospheric heat flux is directed away from the Sun, while that inferred from all WL coronal observations is in the opposite direction, i.e. conducting heat from the inner corona toward the chromosphere. This could indicate that the source of coronal heating extends up into the inner corona, where it maximizes at r>1.5 R, well above the transition region.  相似文献

Observations of some type III radio bursts in the hectometer and kilometer wave range are compared with theoretical predictions. It is shown that the burst emission must be near the plasma frequency in the region between 10 R and 50 R in order to be consistent with the observed steep rise in brightness temperature for these bursts. The results of Fainberg, Malitson et al., and Haddock and Alvarez are discussed and compared with the interpretation of emission near the plasma frequency.  相似文献

We analyze the spectra of DR Tau in the wavelength range 1200 to 3100 Å obtained with the GHRS and STIS spectrographs from the Hubble Space Telescope. The profiles for the C IV 1550 and He II 1640 emission lines and for the absorption features of some lines indicate that matter falls to the star at a velocity ~300 km s?1. At the same time, absorption features were detected in the blue wings of the N I, Mg I, Fe II, Mg II, C II, and Si II lines, suggesting mass outflow at a velocity up to 400 km s?1. The C II, Si II, and Al II intercombination lines exhibit symmetric profiles whose peaks have the same radial velocity as the star. This is also true for the emission features of the Fe II and H2 lines. We believe that stellar activity is attributable to disk accretion of circumstellar matter, with matter reaching the star mainly through the disk and the boundary layer. At the time of observations, the accretion luminosity was Lac ? 2L at an accretion rate ?10?7M yr?1. Concurrently, a small (<10%) fraction of matter falls to the star along magnetospheric magnetic field lines from a height ~R*. Within a region of size ?3.5R*, the disk atmosphere has a thickness ~0.1R* and a temperature ?1.5 × 104 K. We assume that disk rotation in this region significantly differs from Keplerian rotation. The molecular hydrogen lines are formed in the disk at a distance <1.4 AU from the star. Accretion is accompanied by mass outflow from the accretion-disk surface. In a region of size <10R*, the wind gas has a temperature ~7000 K, but at the same time, almost all iron is singly ionized by H I L α photons from inner disk regions. Where the warm-wind velocity reaches ?400 km s?1, the gas moves at an angle of no less than 30° to the disk plane. We found no evidence of regions with a temperature above 104 K in the wind and leave open the question of whether there is outflow in the H2 line formation region. According to our estimate, the star has the following set of parameters: M* ? 0.9M, R* ? 1.8R, L* ? 0.9L, and \(A_V \simeq 0\mathop .\limits^m 9\). The inclination i of the disk axis to the line of sight cannot be very small; however, i≤60°.  相似文献

We present the first long‐term Johnson UBVR observations and comprehensive photometric analysis of the W UMa‐type eclipsing binary V2612 Oph. Observations in the time interval between 2003 and 2009 enabled us to reveal the seasonal and long‐term variations of the light curve. Hence, we found that the mean brightness level of the light curve shows a variation with a period of 6.7 years. Maximum and minimum brightness levels of the light curve exhibit a variation from year to year which we attribute to a solar‐like activity. The OC variation of eclipse timings of the system shows a decreasing parabolic trend and reveals a period decrease at a rate of P = 6.27×10‐7 day yr‐1 with an additional low‐amplitude sinusoidal variation that has a similar period as the long‐term brightness variations. Our light curve analysis shows that the system is a W‐subtype W UMa eclipsing binary. We calculated masses and radii of the primary and secondary components as M1 = 1.28 M, M2 = 0.37 M and R1 = 1.31 R, R2 = 0.75 R, respectively. The derived absolute photometric parameters allow us to calculate a distance of 140 pc, which confirms that the system is a foreground star in the sky field of the Galactic open cluster NGC 6633. Images taken in the band centered at 30.4 nm are routinely used to map the radiance of the He?ii Ly?α line on the solar disk. That line is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, line in the EUV observed in the solar spectrum, and one of the few lines in that wavelength range providing information on the upper chromosphere or lower transition region. However, when observing the off-limb corona, the contribution from the nearby Si?xi 30.3 nm line can become significant. In this work we aim at estimating the relative contribution of those two lines in the solar corona around the minimum of solar activity. We combine measurements from CDS taken in August 2008 with temperature and density profiles from semiempirical models of the corona to compute the radiances of the two lines, and of other representative coronal lines (e.g. Mg?x 62.5 nm, Si?xii 52.1 nm). Considering both diagnosed quantities from line ratios (temperatures and densities) and line radiances in absolute units, we obtain a good overall match between observations and models. We find that the Si?xi line dominates the He?ii line from just above the limb up to ≈?2?R in streamers, while its contribution to narrowband imaging in the 30.4 nm band is expected to become smaller, even negligible in the corona beyond ≈?2?–?3?R , the precise value being strongly dependent on the coronal temperature profile.  相似文献

In a disk with a low optical depth, dust particles drift radially inward by the Poynting-Robertson (P-R) drag rather than are blown out by stellar radiation pressure following destructive collisions. We investigate the radial distribution of icy dust composed of pure ice and refractory materials in dust-debris disks taking into account the P-R drag and ice sublimation. We find that icy dust particles form a dust ring by their pile-ups at the edge of their sublimation zone, where they sublime substantially at the temperature 100-110 K. The distance of the dust ring is 20-35 AU from the central star with its luminosity L??30L and 65(L?/100L)1/2 AU for L??30L, where L is the solar luminosity. The effective optical depth is enhanced by a factor of 2 for L??100L and more than 10 for L??100L. The optical depth of the outer icy dust disk exceeds that of the inner disk filled with refractory particles, namely, the residue of ice sublimation, which are further subjected to the P-R effect. As a result, an inner hole is formed inside the sublimation zone together with a dust ring along the outer edge of the hole.  相似文献

Calculations of the magnetic field in the potential approximation (using Bd technology (Rudenko, 2001)) were used to study the time variations of several parameters of the large-scale magnetic field in the solar atmosphere during the last four cycles. Synoptic maps (SMs) for the radial component Br of the calculated magnetic field were plotted at 10 heights between the solar surface (R = R ) and the source (R = 2.5R ). On these SMs, we marked the 10-degree latitudinal areas. The following (averaged within the zone) characteristics of the magnetic field were determined corresponding to these zones: Sp, Sm; S +fields , where Sp is the positive value of Br, Sm is the averaged modulus of the negative Br; S +fields is the percentage of latitudinal zones with positive Br. The analysis of temporal variations in the magnitude of S points to different origins of the large-scale magnetic field in the near-equatorial and polar regions of the solar atmosphere. The analysis of temporal variations of S +fields showed that there were almost no periods with a mixed polarity at R = 2.5R during the 21st and 22nd solar cycles and in an ascending phase of the 23rd cycle. However, beginning from the maximum of the 23rd cycle, a mixed polarity in the equatorial region was observed until the end of the long minimum of activity. We hypothesized that this could be a precursor for a long minimum between the 23rd and 24th solar cycles. It was shown that during the maximum phase of the 24th solar cycle the magnetic field at R = R is much less than that during the maximum phase of the 23rd cycle, and in the region from 55° to 75°, this difference reaches an order of magnitude.  相似文献

We present high-resolution interferometry of Uranus at 6 cm wavelength and single-dish observations of the disk-averaged brightness temperature, TB, at 2.8 and 4.8 cm wavelength. The 1978 measurements of TB of 228 ± 2,243 ± 9, and 259 ± 4 K at 2.8, 4.8, and 6 cm, respectively, support the finding of M. J. Klein and J. A. Turegano (1978, Astrophy. J.224, L31–L34) that the brightness temperature of Uranus has been rising. There is no evidence for radio emission from outside the visible disk at 6 cm. Radiation from a synchrotron radiation belt or from the Uranian rings is certainly less than 10% of the total radio flux. The interferometry shows a possible 55 ± 20 K difference in brightness temperature between the equator and the currently exposed pole. The pole appears to be ~275 K while the equator is ~220 K. However, a permanent gradient of this magnitude is insufficient to account for the rise in disk-averaged brightness by simple reorientation of Uranus' globe relative to our line of sight. The changing insolation probably triggers a redistribution of the trace constituent NH3 which is responsible for the radio opacity. The NH3 may be interacting strongly with H2S on Uranus.  相似文献

A method for investigating the differential rotation of the solar corona using the coronal magnetic field as a tracer is proposed. The magnetic field is calculated in the potential approximation from observational data at the photospheric level. The time interval from June 24, 1976, to December 31, 2004, is considered. The magnetic field has been calculated for all latitudes from the equator to ±75? with a 5? step at distances from the base of the corona 1.0 R to 2.45 R near the source surface. The coronal rotation periods at 14 distances from the solar center have been determined by the method of periodogram analysis. The coronal rotation is shown to become progressively less differential with increasing heliocentric distance; it does not become rigid even near the source surface. The change in the coronal rotation periods with time is considered. At the cycleminimumthe rotation has been found to bemost differential, especially at small distances from the solar center. The change in coronal rotation with time is consistent with the tilt of the solar magnetic equator. The results from the magnetic field are compared with those obtained from the brightness of the green coronal Fe XIV 530.3 nm line. The consistency between these results confirms the reliability of the proposed method for studying the coronal rotation. Studying the rotation of the coronal magnetic field gives hope for the possibility of using this method to diagnose the differential rotation in subphotospheric layers.  相似文献

Gravitational stability of gaseous protostellar disks is relevant to theories of planetary formation. Stable gas disks favor formation of planetesimals by the accumulation of solid material; unstable disks allow the possibility of direct condensation of gaseous protoplanets. We present the results of numerical experiments designed to test the stability of thin disks against large-scale, self-gravitational disruption. The disks are represented by a distribution of about 6 × 104 point masses on a two-dimensional (r, φ) grid. The motions of the particles in the self-consistent gravity field are calculated, and the evolving density distributions are examined for instabilities. Two parameters that have major influences on stability are varied: the initial temperature of the disk (represented by an imposed velocity dispersion), and the mass of the protostar relative to that of the disk. It is found that a disk as massive as 1M, surrounding a 1M protostar, can be stable against long-wavelength gravitational disruption if its temperature is about 300°K or greater. Stability of a cooler disk requires that it be less massive, but even at 100°K a stable disk can have an appreciable fraction (13) of a solar mass.  相似文献

We solve the uvbyRI light curves obtained by Wolf (1994) with a CCD photometer. Wolf did not solve the light curves, while particular interest in them stems from the fact that a secondary minimum, which other observers failed to detect, is clearly seen in the byRI light curves. This enables us to consider a new eclipse model in which we hypothesize that the secondary component at primary minimum completely obscures the primary, smaller B star, but, at the same time, the light from a third star is observed. Based on this hypothesis, we computed the brightness of each of the three stars for the six bands by analyzing the depths of the primary and secondary minima. Satisfactory agreement between theoretical and observed light curves was achieved by assuming the following parameters for the stars: effective temperature T 1=17000 K, radius R 1 = 2.5 R , spectral type Sp1 = B3—B4 for the primary; T 2=5700 K, R 2 = 8.4 R , Sp2 = G0—G2 for the secondary; and T 3=29000 K, R 3 = 1.0 R , Sp3=B0 for the third star. In the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, the first star lies on the zero-age main sequence, the second is on the way from the birthline to the main sequence in the region of giants, and the third falls within the region of hot subdwarfs.  相似文献

Data on HII regions, molecular clouds, and methanol masers have been used to estimate the Sun’s distance from the symmetry plane z and the vertical disk scale height h. Kinematic distance estimates are available for all objects in these samples. The Local-arm (Orion-arm) objects are shown to affect noticeably the pattern of the z distribution. The deviations from the distribution symmetry are particularly pronounced for the sample of masers with measured trigonometric parallaxes, where the fraction of Local-arm masers is large. The situation with the sample of HII regions in the solar neighborhood is similar. We have concluded that it is better to exclude the Local arm from consideration. Based on the model of a self-gravitating isothermal disk, we have obtained the following estimates from objects located in the inner region of the Galaxy (RR 0): z = ?5.7 ± 0.5 pc and h 2 = 24.1 ± 0.9 pc from the sample of 639 methanol masers, z = ?7.6±0.4 pc and h 2 = 28.6±0.5 pc from 878HII regions, z = ?10.1 ± 0.5 pc and h 2 = 28.2 ± 0.6 pc from 538 giant molecular clouds.  相似文献

We analyze the complex pattern of anticorrelation between the degree of polarization p in the green λ530.3-nm line and its intensity I λ, which was revealed by coronal observations during the total solar eclipse of July 11, 1991. For coronal points located at approximately the same distance from the disk center, the anticorrelation diagram breaks up into two branches with a zone of avoidance between them. High-latitude streamers form the upper branch, while the lower branch belongs to active equatorial regions. The arrangement of large-scale coronal structures in the p-logI λ diagram is considered for a distance of 1.2R . The change in anticorrelation diagram with distance is analyzed in detail for the giant high-latitude coronal streamers observed on July 11, 1991. Our results contain important information about the scattering of photospheric radiation at line frequencies in the presence of a coronal magnetic field.  相似文献

In experiments that were regularly carried out in 1999–2002 with Pushchino radio telescopes (Russian Academy of Sciences), the study of the radial dependence of the scattering of radio emission from compact natural sources was extended to regions of circumsolar plasma farther from the Sun. Based on a large body of data, we show that, apart from the standard transonic acceleration region located at distances of 10–40 R from the Sun, there is a region of repeated acceleration at distances of 34–60 R attributable to the equality between the solar wind velocity and the Alfvénic velocity. The repetition in the trans-Alfvénic region of the characteristic features of the radial stream structure observed in the transonic region (the existence of a precursor, a narrow region of reduced scattering that precedes a wide region of enhanced scattering) suggests that the main characteristic features of the resonant acceleration of solar wind streams are preserved up to distances of the order of 60 R.  相似文献
