The paper presents a theoretical and an experimental investigation into the buckling of seven oblate hemi-ellipsoidal dome shells under external hydrostatic pressure. Four of the shells were made in glass reinforced plastic and three were made from a thermosetting plastic called solid urethane plastic. All the vessels were tested to destruction. The theoretical study was made with the aid of a non-linear finite element solution, where both geometrical and material non-linearity were allowed for. Good agreement was found between experiment and theory for all the vessels. The very oblate domes failed axisymmetrically. Theoretical convergence was good for the more oblate domes but it was not as good as for the less oblate domes. This may have been because the less oblate domes did not fail in a classical axisymmetric manner as was expected. This work is of much importance in ocean engineering.  相似文献

An experimental investigation was carried out in which four dome cup ends were tested to failure under external hydrostatic pressure. The collapse pressures of the dome cup ends were compared with that of a conventional dome cap end. The investigation revealed that the dome cup ends were structurally more efficient than the conventional dome cap ends. All the vessels were made from the same batch of glass fibre matting and associated material.  相似文献

The paper presents a theoretical and an experimental investigation into the free vibration of a large ring-stiffened prolate dome in air and under external water pressure.The theoretical investigation was via the finite element method where a solid fluid mesh with an isoparametric cross-section was used to model the water surrounding the dome, and a truncated conical shell and ring stiffener were used to model the structure. Good agreement was found between theory and experiment. Both the theory and the experiment found that as the external water pressure was increased the resonant frequencies decreased.  相似文献

The paper reports on a theoretical and an experimental investigation carried out on a thin-walled hemi-ellipsoidal prolate dome in air and also under external water pressure. The investigation found that there was good correlation between experiment and theory. The theoretical investigation was carried out using the finite element analysis to model both the structure and the fluid. The theoretical investigation used two different programs, one of which was the giant computer program ANSYS and the other was an in-house program developed by Ross. For the shell structure, the ANSYS program used 2 different doubly curved thin-walled shell elements, while the in-house program used a simpler axisymmetric thin-walled shell element. This axisymmetric element allowed a sinusoidal variation of the displacements in the circumferential direction, thus, decreasing preparation and computational time. Agreement between the 3 different finite elements was found to be good. This was found particularly encouraging for the in-house software, as it only took a few hours to set up the computer model, and a few seconds to analyse the vessel, whereas the ANSYS software took several weeks to set up the computer model, and several minutes to analyse the shell dome. The ANSYS software, however, did have the advantage in producing excellent graphical displays in both the pre-processing and post-processing modes.  相似文献

The paper reports on a theoretical and an experimental investigation into the buckling and vibration of prolate hemi-ellipsoidal tube-stiffened domes under external water pressure. The theoretical analyses were via the finite element method, where both the fluid and the structure were modelled with finite elements. The dome was modelled with a varying meridional curvature element and with eight displacement degrees of freedom and the water was modelled by solid annular elements where each element had eight pressure degrees of freedom in its cross-section. The paper reports on a theoretical and an experimental study into the collapse of three thick-walled circular conical shells, which were tested to failure under external hydrostatic pressure. All three vessels failed by plastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling. Two theoretical analyses were carried out, both based on the finite element method. One of the theoretical analyses was based on inelastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling and the other analysis was based on plastic axisymmetric buckling. Both of these theoretical analysis and the experimental observations appeared to indicate that there is a link between plastic non-symmetric bifurcation buckling and plastic axisymmetric buckling.  相似文献

夏季,黑潮在台湾东北向东海陆架的入侵表现为黑潮次表层水的强烈涌升,并在陆架上形成明显的冷穹。本研究利用ROMS(Regional Ocean Modeling System)模式,模拟了夏季黑潮入侵所形成的冷穹及上升流的三维结构,并讨论了上升流形成的动力机制。结果表明,冷穹中心在50 m以上的深度位于25.5°N,122.5°E附近,最大降温5 ℃以上;在50 m以下的深度,冷穹的中心位于台湾岛北缘。表层黑潮在台湾北缘不存在明显入侵,在陆坡东向转向附近则以气旋式环流入侵至陆架以上。此外,上升流主要位于陆坡坡度最大的区域,且黑潮次表层水的涌升存在两个较为明显的路径,分别位于台湾岛以北的100 m与200 m等深线之间以及东向转向的陆坡区域。在上层,平流作用是上升流产生的主要机制;而在近底层,平流作用与底摩擦都对上升流有贡献。  相似文献

Forward seismic models of two ‘seismic scale’ outcrops of different style channel systems have been made to investigate their seismic signature. These two outcrops illustrate the geometric end members of channel stacking architecture in response to low- and high-accommodation space. The Eocene Nohut Tepe channel system of the Elaziğ Basin in eastern Turkey was deposited in an area of high accommodation resulting in an aggradational geometrical offset stacking of channels up against a slope. The Eocene Ainsa II Channel system of the Tremp-Pamplona Basin in the Spanish Pyrenees was deposited in an area of low accommodation resulting in a tabular, compound sheet geometry, with amalgamated channel bodies separated by clay drapes.Depth models were drawn from outcrop photos and converted to impedance models by assigning acoustic impedance properties to the sand filled channels and surrounding and interbedded mud and clay layers. These were the input for the forward seismic models, which constructed various frequency synthetic seismic sections of the two outcrops. Analysis of the outcrop synthetic seismic identified three distinct reflection configurations. Type I is characterised by a strong black peak and white trough reflection, which is due to a discrete channel body. Type II is characterised by multiple offset, time ‘stepped’ black peak reflections that are underlain by one continuous, strong white trough reflection, which is due to offset stacked channel bodies. Type III is characterised by strong black peaks which onlap an underlying, continuous white trough reflection, caused by the lateral amalgamation of channel bodies.These three types of reflection configurations observed on the outcrop synthetic seismic can also be found on actual seismic from channelised turbidite systems, which aids in interpreting channel stacking architecture, accommodation space prediction and depositional styles from the actual seismic data. Channel stacking architecture is clearly an important aspect which needs to be considered when making channel system interpretations based on seismic data.  相似文献

The coupling between a coaxial array of six ferroelectric shells and its fluid environment is computed by an application of N-port theory. Properties of the lowest ("breathing") mode of the shells are determined by using three-dimensional finite elements, and this knowledge is utilized in defining an N-port representation of the array. An N-port representation of the external fluid is obtained by solving the Helmholtz integral equation that relates fluid velocities and pressure on the exterior of the array. The two N-ports are coupled together in a standard circuit-theoretic manner to produce an equation for the electrical driving-point impedance of the loaded projector. Several frequency responses, which illustrate the effects of varying certain parameters are presented.  相似文献

A theoretical and an experimental investigation was carried out, where a carbon fibre corrugated circular cylinder was tested to destuction under external hydrostatic pressure. The theoretical investigation was via the finite element method, where the structure was modelled with several orthotropic axisymmetric thin-walled shell elements. The experimental observations were aided with strategically placed strain gauges. Comparison between theory and experiment showed that the experimentally observed buckling pressure was a little lower than the theoretical prediction. This may have been due to the fact that the model had slight initial geometrical imperfections in the circumferenential direction.  相似文献

Abstract. Hermit crab shells are often encrusted with diverse communities of epibionts. To explore the effects of hermit crabs on the interactions of these encrusting species, two species of hydractiniid hydroids, Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus and Podocoryna carnea , were examined in the presence and absence of Pagurus longicarpus hermit crabs. Colonies growing on Littorina littorea snail shells with hermit crab hosts were compared to those growing on shells without crabs. These experiments suggest that hermit crabs variably affect colony polyp number, colony morphology and the outcome of interspecific competition, according to the size and number of crabs; other factors include water temperature, food availability and hydroid clonal genotype. In order to allow image analysis of perturbations of colony morphology, hydroids were grown on glass surfaces both exposed and unexposed to hermit crabs. Relative to colonies growing on unexposed surfaces, colonies growing on exposed surfaces exhibited larger within-colony patches, thus decreasing the total encrusted surface area and polyp number of colonies. Further, on glass surfaces, hermit crabs accelerated the time to the resolution of interspecific competition ( i.e. , the overgrowth of one colony by the other). While a number of factors may contribute to the relative abundance of these encrusting species, under most circumstances P. longicarpus have large effects on hydractiniid hydroids. Mechanisms underlying these effects likely include hydrodynamics and mechanical disturbance.  相似文献

While the elemental chemistry of marine mollusk shells contains valuable environmental information, extending these interpretations to freshwater bivalve shells may be problematic, given the wide range of aqueous chemistries that exist in freshwater environments. To better understand the significance of these records, 20 bivalves were collected from four freshwater streams to determine the geochemical relationships that exist between the bivalve shell and their sources streams. The concentrations of manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), and calcium (Ca) were analyzed by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry across the inner (INL) and outer nacreous layer (ONL) of each shell for comparison to stream data collected over the period of shell growth. Within an individual shell, the content of Mn, Sr, and Ba were significantly higher in the INL than the ONL, while Cu concentrations were similar. Strontium and Ba concentrations co-varied between the two layers in 1:1 relationships, while Mn displayed a preferential enrichment in the INL that increased from 2:1 to 5:1 as the Mn content of the shell decreased. Each elemental profile can be correlated between shell layers, except for the trace element Cu, which appeared to be more closely related to the organic content of the shell. These results suggest that the major element geochemistry of the shell layers differentially reflect the aqueous chemistry of the water in which a bivalve lived, but that these records are most likely overprinted by physiological processes specific to the mantle tissue from which a particular shell layer is secreted. Distribution coefficients (shell M /Ca:water M /Ca, where M?=?trace element of interest) were calculated using the median molar elemental concentration for each shell (by layer), and the appropriate water concentration. Bivalves from a contaminated site were excluded from this analysis because their shells were anomalous in size and color. For the remaining 15 shells, distribution coefficients (INL and ONL) were: Mn (0.50 and 0.21), Sr (0.26 and 0.17), and Ba (0.05: INL only). Inner nacreous layer values were comparable to the upper end of published estimates for freshwater bivalves and fish otoliths, while the ONL values were comparable to the lower range of values. Inclusion of shells from the contaminated site resulted in the calculation of distribution coefficients that fell outside the range of published estimates. These results suggest that exposure to pollutants may have a bearing on the biological factors that control the elemental concentration of bivalve shells in freshwater environments. While researchers generally avoid sampling shell material from the INL because of the potential for shell dissolution, the similarity in elemental profile trends observed here suggests that both the INL and ONL record accurate geochemical information, but in distinct forms. An obvious advantage of INL analysis is the relative increase in elemental concentration, but this is afforded at the expense of spatial resolution. Considered collectively, these results suggest that valuable information can be gleaned from the elemental concentration of freshwater bivalve shells when care is taken in the choice of material from which these records are extracted.  相似文献

碳酸盐生物壳体的周期性生长纹层是记录气候环境变化的天然材料。随着原位微区测试技术的快速发展,高分辨率的同位素和化学元素组成的快速分析显著推动了古气候环境变化及生物地球化学研究。应用激光剥蚀等离子体质谱仪(LAICP-MS)对南黄海现代牡蛎Crassostrea gigas壳体韧带部的元素组成进行原位微区测试,利用内标元素43Ca进行元素比值的校正,探讨了牡蛎壳中化学元素特征及其环境意义。研究的长牡蛎壳体中Mg/Ca、Sr/Ca、Na/Ca比值具有显著的季节性周期变化。环境水体物理化学性质的变化对壳体生长速率影响较大,壳中白垩质方解石和叶片方解石生长层分别对应较高和较低的环境温度,白垩方解石层具有较高的Mg/Ca、Sr/Ca和较低的Na/Ca比值。Mg/Ca比值可指示牡蛎壳体生长环境水体温度,利用前人Mg/Ca比值公式计算可以恢复与器测资料相符的近岸海水温度结果。本研究对应用LA-ICP-MS分析技术开展高分辨率的生物壳体元素组成和环境示踪研究具有借鉴意义。  相似文献

A rectangular mist lift tube of 20 m effective height was constructed to investigate the mist generation and up flow processes with various temperatures, pressures and mass flow rates of the incoming hot water through two different mist generation plates. Parameters such as temperature, pressure and dryness of the two phase mixture at six different heights of the lift tube as well as the lift mass flow ratio were measured and analysed. A theoretical analysis was made based on simplified one dimensional model of two-velocity-two-phase flow. The calculated results were discussed regarding temperature, pressure and dryness variations along the lift tube height and compared with the experimental results.  相似文献

红壳色文蛤选育子代各壳色的形态分化及养殖效果的比较   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
以红壳色为目标性状,于2009年进行了文蛤(Meretrix meretrix)的群体选育研究,建立了红壳色选系子一代(Fl),对子一代壳色种类、分布频率及其数量性状进行了统计、测量和分析,并对各壳色的形态、生长速度做了研究.结果表明,文蛤壳色具有多态性,红色、黄色、白双、黄双、波纹的分布频率分别为75.58%、8.55%、0.53%、14.83%、0.50%.红壳色亲本的子代中出现红色∶花色=3∶1,符合孟德尔遗传模式.聚类分析与欧氏距离矩阵结果表明,文蛤波纹与黄色遗传距离最近,白双与黄双遗传距离相近,与红壳色的遗传距离最远.主成分分析显示白双文蛤与黄双文蛤在空间分布上相对重叠,波纹文蛤与黄色文蛤具有较高的重叠率,而红壳色文蛤相对分散,从而进一步说明5种壳色文蛤的遗传距离关系.经过1a同池养殖,子代壳长多数已达到10~30 mm,红壳色文蛤的日生长率为0.20%,花壳色文蛤的日生长率为0.18%,且红壳色文蛤的相对比较生长速度比花壳色文蛤快10.41%.红壳色文蛤选育子代的壳长与壳宽、壳高、粒重存在一定的回归关系.红壳色文蛤壳长对壳宽、壳高、粒重的回归方程分别为:y1=0.502 4x1-0.556 0(R2=0.992 0)、y3=0.8103x3+0.620 0(R2=0.995 6)、y5=0.000 3x25.9029(R2=0.991 9),花壳色文蛤壳长对壳宽、壳高、粒重的回归方程分别为:y2=0.495 3x2-0.419 2(R2=0.990 9)、y4=0.798 5x4+0.793 5(R2=0.995 6)、y6=0.000 4x26.845 8(R2=0.993 4).研究结果为文蛤的红壳色定向选育奠定了理论基础.  相似文献

The shell chemistry of Isognomon ephippium from three Kenyan sites (Tudor, Gazi and Mida) has been investigated to determine whether these bivalves record environmental parameters. The Mg, Sr, Ba and Mn distributions in the calcite shell layer were determined by using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). In addition, whole-shell analyses were made to evaluate inter-site differences. While some variability is observed for mean Mg concentrations, the mean Sr concentrations were similar for the three sites. The decreasing mean Ba and Mn concentrations, following the order Tudor > Gazi > Mida, are related to distinct regimes of freshwater and nutrient supply. The Mg profiles, determined by LA-ICP-MS, displayed a close to regular sinusoidal pattern, depending on specimen and sample site. For the Tudor shells, an arbitrary fitting of the Mg profiles to sea-surface temperature (SST) variations emphasised the good relationship between these two parameters and allowed for the calculation of mean annual growth rates. In most of the shells, Sr partly co-varied with Mg and Ba, highlighting the complexity of Sr incorporation. The Ba and Mn profiles of the Tudor shells displayed several sharp maxima. With a time scale deduced from the Mg–SST relationship, the Ba and Mn maxima of the Tudor shells closely followed periods of maximal rainfall associated with the southeast monsoon. These Ba and Mn maxima were tentatively associated with algal bloom events known to succeed these periods of high rainfall. The less clearly marked seasonality of the Ba and Mn maxima for the Gazi and Mida specimens is thought to result from weaker seasonal variations in nutrient supply and reduced nutrients inputs. This study highlights the potential of I. ephippium as a recorder of spatio-temporal environmental variations in tropical coastal ecosystems.  相似文献

Multidisciplinary investigations carried out in the Cape Zhelaniya area and on the Severny ice dome of Severny Island in the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago during cruise 63 of the R/V Akademik Mstislav Keldysh in September 2015 included a study of the environmental radiation level. The landscape?geochemical and radiation?glaciological data show that the Severny ice dome serves as a secondary source of radionuclides on the surface of the ice sheet; this source originated from past nuclear weapons testing in the atmosphere over the Severnaya Zemlya test site. Some samples taken from the periglacial zone near the edge of the Severny ice dome yielded specific activity levels of radioactive cesium of 450–650 Bq/kg. The study of ice cores obtained by shallow (up to 5.4 m) drilling of three boreholes revealed no significant activity values. At the same time, glaciological investigations made it possible to obtain the first data on the previously unexamined glacier, which indicate that the radioactively contaminated layer is located at a depth of 15?20 m at the boundary of the glacier alimentation zone. No similar investigations had been conducted earlier either by Russian or international scientific teams.  相似文献

探讨影响双壳类元素组成的可能因素,从胶州湾沿岸不同取样点采集黄海近海常见的菲律宾蛤仔(Ruditapesphilippinarum)、褶牡蛎(Oystrea denselamellosa)和紫贻贝(Mytilus galloprovincialis),分别测量了3种壳体的矿物物相类型和壳体中的Ca,Mg,Mn,Sr元素组成。研究表明:3种壳体分别属于文石质、方解石质和混合质壳;Ca,Mn元素含量在菲律宾蛤仔、褶牡蛎和紫贻贝壳体中没有差别,而Mg元素含量在菲律宾蛤仔壳体中含量较低,在褶牡蛎壳体和紫贻贝壳体中含量较高,Sr元素恰好与Mg元素相反。双壳类壳体中元素组成主要受壳体矿物物相类型的制约,而与水体环境要素之间的关系弱。  相似文献
