利用新发表的高精度、高密度天体测量星表UCAC2,对天王星的五颗主要卫星的CCD观测图像重新进行量测,采用不同方法作定标归算,并使用两种理论模型(GUST86和GUST06模型)计算卫星的理论位置。对不同方法所得到的卫星位置的O-C结果的分析和比较表明,本文获得的卫星位置精度,除天卫五(Miranda)有显著提高,其他4颗卫星的位置精度基本相同。本文中天卫一和天卫三的结果与"亮卫星定标法"的结果在精度上相当,天卫二的位置精度与其他天王星卫星的位置精度具有较好的一致性,这从另一方面证明了我们的"亮卫星定标法"的可靠性。此外我们还获得了天卫四的位置与精度。  相似文献

Abstract— Terrestrial impact craters are important geological and geomorphological objects that are significant not only for scientific research but for industrial and commercial purposes. The structures may contain commercial minerals produced directly by thermodynamic transformation of target rocks (including primary forming ores) controlled by some morphological, structural or lithological factors and exposed in the crater. Iron and uranium ores, nonferrous metals, diamonds, coals, oil shales, hydrocarbons, mineral waters and other raw materials occur in impact craters. Impact morphostructures may be used for underground storage of gases or liquid waste material. Surface craters may serve as reservoirs for hydropower. These ring structures may be of value to society in other ways. Scientific investigation of them is especially important in comparative planetology, terrestrial geology and in other divisions of the natural sciences.  相似文献

The experimental data obtained in transit observations of the extrasolar planet HD 209458b and their comparison with theoretical inferences have led to the conclusions that HD 209458b (and other similar hot jupiters) is of a (mainly) hydrogen nature and that these objects probably possess strong magnetic fields. The results of the studies of HD 209458b and prospects for searches for the transits of other extrasolar planets are considered in detail.  相似文献

A survey of recent popular literature on planet detection was undertaken to develop a broad view of public reactions to a program to search for planets around other stars. In this article, I discuss the interest in extra-solar planet searches, compared to other space ventures in the current political and economic climate. I also describe the role of the press and the need for public support to develop a nationally-funded space science program.  相似文献

Using Howard et al.'s method, we investigate, before and after the projection correction, the speed and acceleration distributions for 1747 coronal mass ejections (CMEs) associated solely with flares (FL CMEs) and 631 CMEs associated solely with filament eruptions (FE CMEs) observed by the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph on board the Solar and Heliographic Observatory ( SOHO /LASCO) from 1996 September to 2007 September, corresponding to almost an entire solar cycle. The results show the following. (1) Before the correction, the speed distributions for FL and FE CMEs are statistically different from each other; after the correction, the speed distributions for FL and FE CMEs should also be statistically different from each other. (2) Before the correction, the acceleration distributions for FL and FE CMEs are statistically different from each other. However, after the correction, FL and FE CMEs should have quite similar acceleration distributions.  相似文献

This paper discusses the content of Compact Symmetric Objects in flux density limited VLBI surveys. We present new multi-wavelength VLBA observations confirming the CSO classification of some objects and two epoch 4 cm global VLBI observations from which we measure the hotspot expansion velocity in a CSO and confirm the expansion velocities previously measured at other wavelengths for 3 other CSOs.  相似文献

The method for processing perturbed Keplerian systems known today as the linearization was already known in the XVIIIth century; Laplace seems to be the first to have codified it. We reorganize the classical material around the Theorem of the Moving Frame. Concerning Stiefel's own contribution to the question, on the one hand, we abandon the formalism of Matrix Theory to proceed exclusively in the context of quaternion algebra; on the other hand, we explain how, in the hierarchy of hypercomplex systems, both the KS-transformation and the classical projective decomposition emanate by doubling from the Levi-Civita transformation. We propose three ways of stretching out the projective factoring into four-dimensional coordinate transformations, and offer for each of them a canonical extension into the moment space. One of them is due to Ferrándiz; we prove it to be none other than the extension of Burdet's focal transformation by Liouville's technique. In the course of constructing the other two, we examine the complementarity between two classical methods for transforming Hamiltonian systems, on the one hand, Stiefel's method for raising the dimensions of a system by means of weakly canonical extensions, on the other, Liouville's technique of lowering dimensions through a Reduction induced by ignoration of variables.  相似文献

This paper modifies the first-order perturbation theory of Chandrasekhar, for rotational distortion of polytropes. Comparison with numerical integrations by other authors demonstrates that the present analytic theory is as accurate as other published first-order theories. The present theory is in a form permitting rapid calculation of boundary shapes as a function of the rotation parameter,v, and the polytrope index,n. Many space scientists think that the chemical conditions today on planets and moons of the outer solar system are similar to conditions on Earth soon after it formed. If so, we can learn much about the chemistry that led to life on this planet. We can also speculate about exotic habitats that might have given rise to other types of life. And if we are able to discern the chemical reactions now occurring in the outer solar system, we may be able to extrapolate these rules to other solar systems, and so define the habitable zones around other stars where the potential for life is high.  相似文献

Measurements made by the NASA-JSC ozone instrument during the ozone intercomparison campaign from Gap, France during June 1981 are reported. Two flights were made on board the large balloon platform with other instruments using different techniques. The NASA-JSC instrument employs u.v. absorption photometry to obtain in situ results. Concentration (molecules cm?3) and mixing ratio (pp mV) profiles are given for altitudes from 16 km to float altitudes of 32 and 39 km, respectively for the two flights. A measure of the total column content of ozone was obtained by integrating the NASA-JSC results from 16 km to float altitude and combining them with results from other techniques below 16 km and above float altitudes. Comparisons with results from other instruments are reported elsewhere in this publication.  相似文献

The conditions for stability in the Liapunov-Hill sense of outer planetary systems are given in terms of radii of planetary orbits. The outer planets of the solar system are found stable and the possible existence of other than the presently known planets between Jupiter and Pluto are indicated. An observational program to study variations of the vertical distribution of CO in the Venus atmosphere is presented. Measurements of the J = 0 → 1 absorption line at 2.6 mm wavelength are reported for two phase angles in 1977, one near eastern elongation (Feb.) and the other near inferior conjunction (Apr.). The two spectra are significantly different, with the April absorption line being narrower and deeper. The results of numerical inversion calculations show that the CO mixing ratio increases a factor of ~ 100 between 78 and 100 km and that the CO abundance above ~ 100 km is greatest on the night-side hemisphere. These conclusions are in qualitative agreement with theoretical models. In addition to the CO observations, a search for other molecules was made to provide further information on the composition of the Venus middle atmosphere. The J = 0 → 1 transition of 13CO was detected and upper limits were derived for nine other molecules.  相似文献

Currently there are four operating near-UV imaging space telescopes, one of which is the Swift Ultra-Violet/Optical Telescope (UVOT). Although the UVOT was primarily built for observations of γ-ray bursts, it has become a powerful instrument for studying other types of UV and optical astronomical phenomena. Here we discuss the properties of the UVOT, summarize some of the science undertaken with the UVOT, and present other possible science goals for the UVOT that have not yet been pursued. We also discuss some lessons learned that apply to future UV telescopes.  相似文献

We present a method to construct a mapping for perturbed systems, in which the perturbations do not need to be conservative. We use a variation of Wisdom and Holman's method, where the dissipative term is placed together with the other perturbative terms. The method is applied for two dissipative systems: one including gas drag and the other including Poynting-Robertson drag. We compare the results with those obtained by Malhotra's mapping. Because the dissipative part in our method is treated as a regular perturbative term, there is no need for analytical developments of the nonconservative terms. This is a great advantage in itself and this also allows for a fast performance of the integrator.  相似文献

A novel method, called the crossover technique, has been devised for the remote determination of the surface temperature of planets, satellites, and asteroids having a negligible atmosphere. The method is discussed using new spectra of Mars as an example, and it is shown how it might be extended to other solar system objects. We have calculated the equation of state of the neutron star matter and some of its properties for a wide range of nucleon-nucleon potentials using the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method. It turns out that for the UV 14+TNI potential, the proton fraction exhibits a peak and falls off at high densities. The equation of state with the UV 14+TNI potential is seen to be much harder than those with other potentials. The polytropic behaviour of the neutron star matter with various potentials are discussed. Compared with the other methods, the LOCV results show good agreement for densities below 0.7 fm -3. Above this density, however, the differences with other methods are appreciable.  相似文献

We develop a new numerical code with automated feature extraction, customized for tracing of coronal loops, a method we call Oriented Coronal CUrved Loop Tracing (OCCULT), which for the first time breaks even with the results of visual tracing. The method used is based on oriented-directivity tracing of curvi-linear features, but in contrast to other general feature-extraction algorithms, it is customized for solar EUV and SXR images by taking advantage of the specific property that coronal loops have large curvature radii compared with their widths. We evaluate the performance of this new code by comparing the cumulative distribution of loop lengths, the median and maximum loop lengths, the completeness of detection, and the congruency of the detected features with other numerical codes and visual tracings. We find that the new code closely approaches the results of visual perception and outperforms the other existing numerical codes. This algorithm is useful for the 3D reconstruction of the geometry, motion, and oscillations of coronal loops, with single or stereoscopic spacecraft, as well as for modeling of the loop hydrodynamics and the coronal magnetic field.  相似文献
