The results of the photometric observations of comet C/2009 P1 (Garradd) performed at the 60-cm Zeiss-600 telescope of the Terskol observatory have been analyzed. During the observations, the comet was at the heliocentric and geocentric distances of 1.7 and 2.0 AU, respectively. The CCD images of the comet were obtained in the standard narrowband interference filters suggested by the International research program for comet Hale-Bopp and correspondingly designated the “Hale-Bopp (HB) set.” These filters were designed to isolate the BC (λ4450/67 Å), GC (λ5260/56 Å) and RC (λ7128/58 Å) continua and the emission bands of C2 (λ5141/118 Å), CN (λ3870/62 Å), and C3 (λ4062/62 Å). From the photometric data, the dust production rate of the comet and its color index and color excess were determined. The concentration of C2, CN, and C3 molecules and their production rates along the line of sight were estimated. The obtained results show that the physical parameters of the comet are close to the mean characteristics typical of the dynamically new comets.  相似文献

Height profiles of auroral emissions at 3914 Å, 4861 Å, and 5577 Å were obtained in two rocket flights through medium intensity stable aurora. The 3914 Å N2+ integral intensity data were compared with intensity variations predicted by an auroral model for a range of primary electron energy spectra. The observed profiles for the two flights were well reproduced respectively by a 5.6 keV mono-energtic flux and by a flux with an exponential spectrum cutting off around 12 to 15 keV. The data for 5577 Å (available only above 120 km) bear a constant ratio to that for 3914 Å. The emission profiles derived for 3914 Å, peak at 115 and 107 km respectively.  相似文献

Two quiescent solar prominences were observed in July 2000 from SUMER aboard SOHO and from the two German solar telescopes at Tenerife. Two‐dimensional images taken at the VTT simultaneously in the spectral lines Hβ at 4862 Å and Ca II at 8542 Å show no significant spatial variation of their pressure‐sensitive emission ratio. Slit spectra of the Ca II 8542 Å and He I 10830 Å lines obtained at the Gregory‐Coudé telescope yield 8000 K < Tkin < 9000 K and 3 km/s < Vn–th < 8 km/s. Among the various spectral ranges observed with SUMER, we first investigate the Lyman emission lines, which were fitted by Gaussians yielding reliable spectral radiances and line widths for the series members 5 < k < 18. A determination of the level population gives for the lower series members a Boltzmann temperature of 60 000 K, the higher members being over‐populated. This temperature indicates an origin of the Lyman lines from hot surroundings of the cool prominence body seen in the ground‐based data; this also holds for the ‘hotter’ SUMER lines.  相似文献

Spectroheliograms were obtained simultaneously in the He ii 304 Å emission line and the He i 10 830 Å absorption line with an angular resolution of approximately 5″. A negative print of the 304 Å image is matched with a positive print of the 10 830 Å image so that corresponding features of the chromospheric network (including active regions) appear identical in the two images. Differences between these images include the facts that:
  1. Disk filaments and limb darkening are strongly visible in the 10 830 Å positive image, but they are weakly visible (as lightenings) in the 304 Å negative image.
  2. The contrast between the chromospheric network and the network cell centers is much greater in the 10 830 Å image than in the 304 Å negative image.
These results provide constraints on models of helium line formation in various types of solar features.  相似文献

The University of Wisconsin–Madison and NASA–Goddard conducted acomprehensive multi-wavelength observing campaign of coma emissionsfrom comet Hale–Bopp, including OH 3080 Å, [O I] 6300 Å H2O+ 6158 Å, H Balmer-α 6563 Å, NH2 6330 Å, [C I] 9850 ÅCN 3879 Å, C2 5141 Å, C3 4062 Å,C I 1657 Å, and the UV and optical continua. In thiswork, we concentrate on the results of the H2O daughter studies.Our wide-field OH 3080 Å measured flux agrees with other, similarobservations and the expected value calculated from published waterproduction rates using standard H2O and OH photochemistry.However, the total [O I] 6300 Å flux determined spectroscopically overa similar field-of-view was a factor of 3-4 higher than expected.Narrow-band [O I] images show this excess came from beyond theH2O scale length, suggesting either a previously unknown source of[O I] or an error in the standard OH + ν→ O(1 D) + H branching ratio. The Hale–Bopp OH and[O I] distributions, both of which were imaged tocometocentric distances >1 × 106 km, were more spatiallyextended than those of comet Halley (after correcting for brightnessdifferences), suggesting a higher bulk outflow velocity. Evidence ofthe driving mechanism for this outflow is found in the Hα lineprofile, which was narrower than in comet Halley (though likelybecause of opacity effects, not as narrow as predicted by Monte-Carlomodels). This is consistent with greater collisional coupling betweenthe suprathermal H photodissociation products and Hale–Bopp's densecoma. Presumably because of mass loading of the solar wind by ionsand ions by the neutrals, the measured acceleration of H2O+ downthe ion tail was much smaller than in comet Halley. Tailwardextensions in the azimuthal distributions of OH 3080 Å,[O I], and [C I] , as well as a Doppler asymmetry in the[O I] line profile, suggest ion-neutral coupling. While thetailward extension in the OH can be explained by increased neutralacceleration, the [O I] 6300 Å and [C I] 9850 Å emissions show 13%and >200% excesses in this direction (respectively), suggesting anon-negligible contribution from dissociative recombination of CO+and/or electron collisional excitation. Thus, models including theeffects of photo- and collisional chemistry are necessary for the fullinterpretation of these data.  相似文献

Narrow-waveband (100 Å) photoelectric slit-scan photometry of the Neptune disk is reported. Observations were concentrated within the strong CH4 band at λ7300 Å. For comparison, measurements were also made within a continuum waveband at λ6800 Å. Point spread function data were obtained in both colors. Qualitative estimates of the true intensity distribution over the Neptune disk were made. Within the λ6800-Å continuum band, Neptune appears as an essentially uniform disk. Within the λ7300 Å CH4 band, the planet exhibits strong limb brightening. Our results appear to require the presence of an optically thin layer of brightly scattering aerosol particles high in the Neptune atmosphere.  相似文献

We present results of polarimetry and photometry of comet C/2004 Q2 (Machholz) obtained with the 0.7-m telescope of Institute of Astronomy at the Karazin Kharkiv National University on February 3 and 4, and March 4 and 14, 2005. The observations were carried out with a one-channel photoelectric photometer-polarimeter. The IHW continuum UC (λ3650/80 Å), BC (λ4845/65 Å), RC (λ6840/90 Å) and emission filters CN (λ3871/50 Å), C3 (λ4060/70 Å), and C2 (λ5140/90 Å) were used. Degree of the comet polarization at phase angles ≈ 52° and ≈44° in the red continuum was close to that for so called dusty comets. The comet had a typical spectral gradient of polarization ΔP/Δλ=0.86% per 1000 Å. In the framework of the Haser model we have found the gas production rates Q of the CN, C3 and C2 species and the dust production rates Afρ on February 4 and March 14, 2005. The ratio log[Afρ (BC)/Q(CN)] was compared with data for other comets. The normalized spectral gradient of cometary dust S’(BC,RC) was 8.7%/1000 Å for February 4 and 17.0%/1000 Å for March 14. We conclude that comet C/2004 Q2 (Machholz) in many respects is a typical dusty comet.  相似文献

Abstract— This paper describes the coordinated results of several sets of measurements of two Leonid meteor fireballs over northern New Mexico at 1:32 and 3:06 MST, respectively, on the night of 1998 November 17. The measurements included visible band photometry on both events, as well as filtered 5890 Å all-sky images of the Na airglow. Also, for the 3:06 a.m. event, we obtained an infrasound measurement of the hydrodynamic yield. For the 1:32 a.m. event, we obtained a set of visible band charge-coupled device (CCD) camera images of the meteor train for times extending to 30 min after the initial impact. The measurement results have been combined to derive an optical efficiency for the intense early-time optical flash, and the total explosion yields and masses for both of the meteors. We have also done a set of numerical radiation, hydrodynamic, and chemistry computations to investigate the nature and distribution of the long-lasting airglow. We attribute the brightest visible airglow to atomic O 5577 Å line emission, with additional contributions from atomic Na emission and NO2 chemiluminescence. The near-infrared atmospheric bands of molecular O2 should be very strong as well. All of the band emissions are expected to show a hollow limb-brightened structure.  相似文献

The main results of the SPIRIT experiment on imaging spectroscopy of the Sun in the soft X-ray and extreme vacuum UV range are presented. The results were obtained onboard the CORONAS-F satellite, which has been operating since July 2001. More than 40 thousand observation sessions were performed during the experiment. About a million solar images and spectra (more than 250 Gb of information) were obtained, including monotemperature images of the solar atmosphere in six spectral regions, corresponding to temperatures from 0.05 to 2 MK; full-Sun spectral images (spectroheliograms) in more than 150 lines (177–207 Å and 285–335 Å, T from ~0.05 to 20 MK); images of the full Sun in the monochrome Mg XII line (8.42 Å, T ~ 10 MK); images of the solar corona at a distance of up to five solar radii; continuous series (up to 20 days long) of observations with high time resolution (40–100 s); observations of the flare dynamics, including the preflare, initial, and main phases, with a resolution of 7 s, and data on the absorption of X-ray and XUV solar radiation in the upper atmosphere of the Earth. The study was performed for the maximum of the 11-year solar activity cycle and for its decrease phase.  相似文献

Spectroscopic observations of Comet Hale-Bopp were made at the 2.6 m Shajn Telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. Some spectra were obtained with high spectral resolution, FWHM = 0.18–0.4Å, in the coude focus on February 22 and 26, 1997. The observations were made in selected spectral windows (4805–4872 Å,6528–6595 Å, 7186–7253 Å, 8276–8408 Å).The spectrograph slit was centered on the nucleus and had dimensions of 25.2 × 0.6 arcsec2 on the plane of the sky. The continuum spatial profiles were extremely asymmetrical toward the Sun. However, the continuum-subtracted spatial profiles of the molecular emissions were symmetrical relative to the nucleus, except for C2. The shape of the spatial profiles of the C2 emissions is similar to that one of continuum but is more flattened. So, there are evidences that dust can be an additional source of the C2 radicals in the cometary coma. The main aim of our research was identification of the cometary emissions. Using recent laboratory spectroscopic data we identified newlines of C2 associated with the transitions from high rotational levels in the 4805–4872 Å spectral region. We detected cometary Hα emission as well. Emissions of NH2, H2O+,and C2 (Phillips system) were found in the red spectral windows. Some emission features are still unassigned.  相似文献

Using the high-resolution spectra obtained at the 6-meter telescope of the SAO RAS over 2002–2013, we studied the spectral features of the lines of interstellar medium. The radial velocities of the Na I 5890 Å, Na I 5896 Å, Ca II 3934 Å and Ca II 3968 Å absorption lines were analyzed. Seven diffuse interstellar bands 4964, 5780, 5797, 6196, 6203, 6379 Å were identified in the optical spectrum of IRAS01005+7910. Radial velocities Vr and equivalent widths Wλ of these DIBs were measured, for which the values of the interstellar reddening EB?V and column density of neutral hydrogen log [N(H)] were calculated.  相似文献

Spectrophotometry of Venus from 2170 to about 1950 Å has been obtained by OAO-2 at 10 Å resolution. The new data confirm and extend previous indications that the geometric albedo decreases continuously below 2500 Å. Secular changes in either the amount or distribution, or both, of absorbing constituents in the upper atmosphere are strongly suggested. A narrow absorption feature is found near 2145 Å, confirming an earlier report by Anderson et al. [J. Atmos. Sci.26 (1969), 874–888]. Absorption by trace amounts of nitrogen-bearing molecules, including N2O, HNO3 in aqeous solution, and possibly also NO, together with Rayleigh scattering from CO2, can account for the variation in albedo below 3200 Å, but other explanations are not excluded. For example, H2S may contribute to or be responsible for the decrease in albedo below 2500 Å.  相似文献

Stokes polarization profiles of the Mg?b2 5172.68 Å spectral line on two simple sunspots are obtained with the Multi-Channel Solar Telescope (MCST) at the Huairou Solar Observing Station (HSOS). This is done by means of scanning this line over the wavelength interval from 200 mÅ redward of the line center to 200 mÅ blueward, in steps of 10 mÅ. A generalized analytic solution to the transfer equation for polarized radiation is presented. With a nonlinear least-square fitting technique, the linear calibration coefficients for the low-chromospheric longitudinal magnetic field is obtained in the weak-field case. We also discuss the problems in calibrating the transverse field with this line. It is shown that the weak-field approximation is not applicable to the chromospheric Mg?b2 line for the transverse component of the magnetic field.  相似文献

We present the results of our tests of an acousto-optical imaging spectrophotometer with a CCD detector for astronomical observations. The tunable acousto-optical filter, based on a paratellurite single crystal with a 13 Å pass band operates in the wavelength range 6300–11000 Å. We obtained image spectra for the planetary nebula NGC 7027 in the Hα line and for Saturn in the methane absorption band, as well as Hα and continuum images for the nuclear region of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 1068.  相似文献

Moderate-resolution spectra of the C2 Swan 0-1 bandhead, the Na I D lines and the KI resonance lines near 7660 Å obtained at minimum light during the 1988–1989 decline of R CrB are discussed and interpreted in terms of a popular model for R CrB declines. From an inter-comparison among TRACE, RHESSI, and Hα images of the X4.8 flare of 2002 July 23, we found it to be a typical two-ribbon flare. The Hα and TRACE 195Å images are all shown to have the two-ribbon pattern, while the TRACE 195Å images show also a loop-arch whose footpoints deviate slightly from the ribbons. The TRACE 195Å ribbons match well the higher energy hard X-ray images. During the impulsive phase, the hard X-ray images above 38 keV present a low-lying loop connecting the two ribbons of TRACE 195Å. Above the low-lying loop, there is a coronal low energy hard X-ray source. The spatial structure and evolutionary patterns as a whole are presented. Possible theoretical explanations are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The results of a spectrophotometric study of 13 carbon stars in the wavelength range from 4000 Å to 6800 Å with 2.75 Å resolution are given. The observed energy distributions for these stars relative to the flux at λ0 = 5556 Å, represented in graphic form, were determined. Their color temperatures were determined from the [5710] ? [6680] color index. A dust shell is assumed to exist around U Cyg. The indices of the C2’ MS, and CaCl molecular bands and the D2,1 line were also determined.  相似文献

We analyze multiwavelength observations of an M2.9/1N flare that occurred in AR NOAA 11112 on 16 October 2010. AIA 211 Å EUV images reveal the presence of a faster coronal wave (decelerating from ≈?1390 to ≈?830 km?s?1) propagating ahead of a slower wave (decelerating from ≈?416 to ≈?166 km?s?1) towards the western limb. The dynamic radio spectrum from Sagamore Hill radio telescope shows the presence of a metric type II radio burst, which reveals the presence of a coronal shock wave (speed ≈?800 km?s?1). The speed of the faster coronal wave, derived from AIA 211 Å images, is found to be comparable to the coronal shock speed. AIA 171 Å high-cadence observations showed that a coronal loop, which was located at a distance of ≈?0.32R to the west of the flaring region, started to oscillate by the end of the impulsive phase of the flare. The results indicate that the faster coronal wave may be the first driver of the transversal oscillations of coronal loop. As the slower wave passed through the coronal loop, the oscillations became even stronger. There was a plasmoid eruption observed in EUV and a white-light CME was recorded, having velocity of ≈?340?–?350 km?s?1. STEREO 195 Å images show an EIT wave, propagating in the same direction as the lower-speed coronal wave observed in AIA, but decelerating from ≈?320 to ≈?254 km?s?1. These observations reveal the co-existence of both waves (i.e. coronal Moreton and EIT waves), and the type II radio burst seems to be associated with the coronal Moreton wave.  相似文献

We present the results of polarimetric and photometric observations of dynamically new comet C/2002 T7 (LINEAR) at phase angles from 6° to 26°. During the observations, the comet was at a distance of 2.7–1.3 AU from the Sun and 1.7–2.0 AU from the Earth. The aperture polarimetry was made with the 2.6-m Shain telescope and the 1.25-m AZT-11 telescope of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory and with the 0.7-m telescope of the Astronomical Institute of the Kharkiv National University during the period from November 21, 2003, to February 21, 2004. The wideband UBVRI and WRC (λ7228/1142 Å) filters and the narrowband GC (λ5260/56 Å) filter were used. The photometric observations of the comet were carried out on February 21, 2004, with narrowband filters isolated the BC (λ4845/65 Å) and RC (λ6840/90 Å) continuum and the C2 emission (λ5140/90 Å). The phase-angle dependence of linear polarization of the comet has been obtained, and its parameters, such as the minimal polarization P min = ?1.63%, the phase angle of the minimal polarization αmin = 10.6°, the inversion angle αinv = 22.7°, and the slope of the phase curve at the inversion angle h = 0.24% per degree, were found. From the photometric observations, the following quantities have been obtained: the column density of molecules C2 in the line of sight logN (C2) = ?9.15 mol/cm2 and their production rate log Q (C2) = 27.11 mol/s, the spectral gradient of reflectivity for the dust S′(BC, RC) ≈ 3%/1000 Å, and the dust production parameter Afρ equal to 371 and 273 cm for the blue and red continuum ranges, respectively. According to these results, the physical parameters of comet C/2002 T7 are close to the average characteristics of typical dusty comets.  相似文献
