Furrow irrigation with film-mulched agricultural beds is being promoted in the arid region of northwest China because it im-proves water utilization. Two-dimensional infiltration patterns under film-mulched furrows can provide guidelines and criteria for irrigation design and operation. Our objective was to investigate soil water dynamics during ponding irrigation infiltration of mulched furrows in a cross-sectional ridge-furrow configuration, using laboratory experiments and mathematical simulations. Six experimental treatments, with two soil types (silt loam and sandy loam), were investigated to monitor the wetting patterns and soil water distribution in a cuboid soil chamber. Irrigation of mulched furrows clearly increased water lateral infiltration on ridge shoulders and ridges, due to enhancement of capillary driving force. Increases to both initial soil water content (SWC) and irrigation water level resulted in increased wetted soil volume. Empirical regression equations accurately estimated the wetted lateral distance (Rl) and downward distance (Rd) with elapsed time in a variably wetted soil medium. Optimization of model parameters followed by the Inverse approach resulted in satisfactory agreement between observed and predicted cumulative infiltration and SWC. On the basis of model calibration, HYDRUS-2D model can accurately simulate two-dimensional soil water dynamics under irrigation of mulched furrows. There were significant differences in wetting patterns between unmulched and mulched furrow irrigation using HYDRUS-2D simulation. The Rd under the mulched furrows was 32.14% less than the unmulched furrows. Therefore, film-mulched furrows are recommended in a furrow irrigation system.  相似文献

在太行山低山区将自然植被移入蒸渗仪,观察当降水分别为常年平均降水量的80%、90%、100%、110%和120%等5种处理条件下,植被生产力和土壤的不同反映。研究发现:受验植被对降水反映敏感,降水每增加10%,植被生产力增加15%左右,预示未来全球变化导致的降水变化会对太行山低山区植被产生影响。同时在利用野外实验结果对WAVES模型进行验证的基础上,模拟了不同温度和降水变化情景下,土壤水分的可能变化趋势。结果表明:增温和减少降水对土壤水分负作用明显,尽管降水增加可改善土壤的水分供应状况,但降水增加10%对土壤水分的正面影响,大体被3 oC的增温抵消。由于模型模拟中采用的是与目前没有改变降水条件的实验相同的植被(LAI),而植被生长在太行山这一半湿润、半干旱地区又受土壤水分控制,因而估计未来气候变化情景下的植被变化与土壤水分的变化趋势相似。  相似文献

Vegetation within some parts of Western Australia has been degraded by resource extraction, and ecological restoration is necessary to prevent erosion and reinstate plant biodiversity. Two restoration approaches, seed broadcasting and planting of seedlings, were tested with plant species (Acacia tetragonophylla F. Muell., Atriplex bunburyana F. Muell. and Solanum orbiculatum Poir.) known to have been dominant prior to mining activities in the World Heritage Area at Shark Bay. For broadcast seeding, soil raking and/or ripping increased seedling emergence, but only after sufficient rainfall. Survival of A. bunburyana seedlings (≤92%) was higher than A. tetragonophylla (≤13%) almost two years after planting and soil ripping partly alleviated soil impedance and resulted in increased seedling survival. Shoot pruning, fertiliser and moisture retaining gel had a reduced or detrimental effect on survival. Seedling survival differed between the three experimental sites, with electrical conductivity being the most noted soil difference between the sites. Restoration in the arid environs of the World Heritage Area at Shark Bay in Western Australia is challenging, but this study shows that seedling establishment is technically feasible and provides methodology useful to other arid restoration projects.  相似文献

Extensive areas of low lying coastal plains on Santiago Island, Republic of Cape Verde, are virtually devoid of natural vegetation. Of many introduced trees and shrubs, onlyAtriplexspecies have been found to thrive. Several plantations have been established during the past 15 years by the Cape Verde Government, FAO and other agricultural development groups. Results from these, together with local perceptions, indicate that although growth and survival are good, the primary objective of providing forage is not being met, owing to the unpalatability ofAtriplexto local stock. In recent field trials, severalAtriplexspecies showed good growth, but none were browsed and survival was quite poor, with onlyA. undulata(65%) andA. canescens(100%) exceeding 60% survival. Forage analysis identified high salt content in all species tested, and the highest protein content was found inA. glauca(16%),A. vesicaria(17%) andA. canescens(20%), which also had the lowest salt levels.Atriptex canescenswas identified as worthy of further introduction. An establishedA. halimusplantation that was observed to be browsed was compared to unbrowsed stands in terms of forage, soil and local drinking water analyses. Possible reasons for the unpalatability ofAtriplexto local stock and its resolution are discussed, along with the potential future ofAtriplexon the Cape Verde Islands.  相似文献

Esophageally fistulated goats were released in a microphyll desert scrub habitat with 14.6% or 46.2% aerial cover of Atriplex canescens (induced by removal of all shrubs except A. canescens, with livestock grazing exclusion for 10 years) to determine the seasonal forage species selected by the goats. The shrub removal strongly influenced the goats’ feeding habits. The goats grazing the Atriplex-dominated site consumed 4.5 times more A. canescens than the goats on the untreated (control) pasture during all seasons. Shrubs were used heavily during all seasons by goats in both pastures, with higher percentages (75.5–82.8%) in the diets of goats grazing the control pasture than in the diets of goats grazing the Atriplex-dominated area (62.5–68.5%). No differences were found between seasons. The goats in the Atriplex-dominated pasture ate more grass than the goats grazing the control area and used more perennial graminoids during the summer (15.0%) and spring (18.3%) than the goats on the control area (6.0–7.0%). Forbs were an important component of diets. It was concluded that the successful revegetation of the treated pasture affected the goats’ feeding strategy, with an increase in the use of A. canescens, forbs and grasses in all seasons.  相似文献

通过对不同土地利用/覆盖下4种类型沙漠化土地的土壤与植被特征、变化规律、动因和互动关系的调查研究,结果表明土地沙漠化导致了土壤环境和植被的明显退化。其中严重沙漠化农田和非沙漠化农田相比,土壤有机质含量、速效氮、生长季土壤含水量分别下降66.2%、69.0%、74.8%,地温由21.5 ℃上升到22.4 ℃,其中干旱期严重沙漠化农田土壤含水量仅为23%,已无法满足作物生长需要。土壤环境恶化首先威胁土壤微生物和土壤动物的生存,使土壤微生物和动物数量分别下降95.0%和75.9%,酶活力下降39.5%~ 90.6%。同时植物多样性、种的饱和度和初级生产力大幅度下降,如严重沙漠化草地和非沙漠化草地相比,3项指标分别下降85.5%~883%,87.5%~ 950%和80.6%~ 967%,植被开始发生逆向演替,群落优势种不断更替,最终形成耐牧耐风沙的沙生植物群聚。旱作农田虽采取了施肥、中耕等管理措施,但光合转化效率和初级生产力还是下降了567%和574%。这一过程因其动因不同可分为植被退化(如放牧)引起的土地沙漠化和裸露地表风沙流活动直接导致的土地沙漠化(如农田风蚀和流沙迁移),前者是植被先行退化进而影响到土壤环境,其过程较为缓慢,后者是土壤环境首先恶化进而导致植。  相似文献

为了全面得到植被发育斜坡非饱和带土体中优先域结构类型,以2个试验区5个玄武岩斜坡为研究对象,采用染色示踪试验揭示优先域的存在形式及其影响因素,并采用双环入渗试验对不同深度非饱和带土体渗透特征进行测定,揭示优先域对水分入渗的贡献。研究表明:植被发育斜坡非饱和带土体中优先域结构类型除了传统的植物根系腐烂后残留的通道、动物通道、土体干缩裂隙以外,还存在有根系-土体以及砾石-土体接触带空隙以及气候冻融交替产生的裂隙,其中植被根系对大孔隙的影响占主导地位;试验区斜坡非饱和带土体的饱和渗透速度随深度增加有降低的趋势,土体饱和渗透速度最大值高达513.6 mm/h(表层);最小值13.33 mm/h,受广泛分布的优先域影响下形成的斜坡饱和带高渗透盖层对降水入渗的贡献是巨大的。  相似文献

Hydraulic redistribution is the process of passive water movement from deeper moist soil to shallower dry soil layers using plant roots as conduits. Results from this study indicate that this phenomenon exists among two shrub species (Guiera senegalensis and Piliostigma reticulatum) that co-exist with annual food crops in Sahelian agro-ecosystems. Real-time measurements were conducted for soil water content, soil water potential and microclimate variables notably; air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, precipitation and solar irradiance. Additionally, sap flow measurements were conducted in shrub roots using the thermal dissipation technique on intact and coppiced shrubs. Monthly predawn leaf water potential was measured using a portable pressure chamber. Soil water potential (Ψs) at the 20 cm depth declined significantly during the dry season with diel changes in Ψs of −0.6 to −1.1 MPa. These variations were attributed to passive water release from shrub roots resulting in overnight rewetting of drier upper soil layers. Sap flow measurements on tap and lateral shrub roots indicated daily reversals in the direction of flow. During the peak of the dry season, both positive (toward shrub) and negative (toward soil) flows were observed in lateral shrub roots with sap flow in the lateral roots frequently negative at night and rapidly becoming positive soon after sunrise. The negative sap flow at night in superficial lateral roots and the periodic positive flow in the descending tap roots were indicative of hydraulic redistribution. Hydraulic redistribution may be an important mechanism for drought stress avoidance while maintaining plant physiological functions in both shrubs and neighboring annuals in water-limited environments.  相似文献

This review examines the conservation, risk, productivity, viability and acceptability of range management technology as it relates to sustaining rangeland ecosystems specifically in arid and semi-arid climates. The efficiency, cost effectiveness and risk with which rainfall is converted into plant production, and eventually gross farming income, without deterioration of natural resources form the essence of sustainability of rangeland ecosystems in these areas. Range and soil degradation can dramatically influence soil water balance, nutrient cycling, soil loss, production and the economics of a farm unit. Management for long-term sustainability often requires sacrifice of short-term welfare. With respect to deterioration and loss of productivity of natural vegetation, a co-ordinated approach is needed towards establishing a comprehensive inventory of the condition of national vegetation resources on a geographically and scientifically sound basis.  相似文献

针对神延铁路边坡坡度大、表层土质坚实问题和尽量减少对坡面破坏性施工的要求,在植物护坡工程中,用自制缝植锹植苗,自制注水器灌溉,保证了护坡工程的顺利实施。结果表明:采用植苗锹进行缝植,一是能满足陡坡作业要求。锹板坚固锋利,用脚踏可穿透包坡的硬粘土层以减小对坡面的破坏程度;二是提高工效,缝隙植苗一次性完成;三是缝隙深度可达40cm,能完成植苗深栽20cm以下的工程设计要求。采用注水灌溉,一是克服了坡度陡坡面光滑,不利水分下渗,植苗补水不到位,灌溉操作难度大的困难;二是注水器可插入土壤深度15~ 20cm以下对苗木根系处进行补水,抑制了土壤表层水分的蒸发,提高了有限水利用率;三是延长补水周期,降低拉水投入成本,增强植苗的抗旱能力。经采用上述技术措施,栽植的灌木紫穗槐(Amorpha fruticosa)苗木平均成活率达85%以上,边坡覆盖度超过90%,根系多分部在土壤20~ 40cm深处,主根平均长度50cm。  相似文献

Many arid basins in western North America are likely to experience future changes in precipitation timing and amount. Where shallow water tables occur, plant acquisition of groundwater and soil water may be influenced by growing season precipitation. We conducted a rainfall manipulation experiment to investigate responses of four common native plant species to ambient, increased, and decreased summer monsoon rainfall. We measured plant xylem pressure potentials (Ψ) and stable oxygen isotope signatures (δ18O) to assess effects of altered precipitation on plant water relations and water acquisition patterns. Reduced rainfall decreased Ψ more in the grasses Sporobolus airoides and Distichlis spicata than the more deeply rooted shrubs Sarcobatus vermiculatus and Ericameria nauseosa. E. nauseosa had little response to natural or experimental differences in available soil water. Plant xylem water δ18O indicated that S. airoides and D. spicata are almost entirely dependent on rain-recharged soil water, while E. nauseosa is almost entirely groundwater-dependent. Sarcobatus vermiculatus used groundwater during dry periods, but utilized precipitation from soil layers after large rainfall events. Persistent changes in precipitation patterns could cause shifts in plant community composition that may alter basin-scale groundwater consumption by native plants, affecting water availability for human and ecosystem uses.  相似文献

在元谋干热河谷土壤侵蚀特征分析的基础上,对坡耕地土壤侵蚀造成的土地退化进行了模拟研究。结果表明,土壤侵蚀造成表层耕作土壤的物理性能下降、养分流失和水分入渗能力降低。表层耕作土壤的容重比下层土壤低12.7%,总孔隙度高10.9%,有机质高37.3%,120min累计入渗总量是下层土壤的1.6-2.2倍。模拟土壤侵蚀与土地生产力关系的小区试验结果显示,坡耕地每流失1cm表土,土地生产力水平平均下降4.54%。  相似文献

The Mu Us Sandland is basically characterized by water shortage and high wind. Thus, wind-induced mechanical perturbation (MP) and soil water availability are likely to interact to affect plant growth. Since high water availability and MP can induce responses that are in the opposite direction, we hypothesized that MP effects on perennial grasses might be mitigated by increased soil water availability in the Mu Us Sandland. We counducted an experiment in which seedlings of Psammochloa villosa were subjected to two levels of MP (non-MP vs. MP 1 min d−1) and two levels of water availability (200 ml d−1vs. 400 ml d−1) and measured three plant traits. MP significantly decreased plant height, total biomass, and root/shoot ratio. There were significant interactions between MP and soil water availability on plant height and root/shoot ratio. These findings imply that MP alone is a stressful factor for P. villosa and MP effects on its growth can be partially mitigated by increased soil water availability, and also suggest that P. villosa may respond to MP in a way that allows plants to survive in the windy semiarid environments.  相似文献

In grazed semiarid ecosystems, considerable spatial variability in soil infiltration exists as a result of vegetation and soil patchiness. Despite widespread recognition that important interactions and feedbacks occur between vegetation, runoff and erosion, currently there is only limited quantitative information on the control mechanisms that lead to differences in infiltration from different vegetation types. In this paper, we determine (i) the relationship between vegetation and soil surface characteristics and (ii) the soil infiltration rate by using rainfall simulations on runoff plots (0.60 × 1.67 m) in three plant communities of northeastern Patagonia: grass (GS), degraded grass with scattered shrubs (DGS), and degraded shrub steppes (DSS). Our results clearly indicate that vegetation and soil infiltration are closely coupled. Total infiltration was significantly higher in the GS (69.6 mm) compared with the DGS and DSS (42.9 and 28.5 mm, respectively). In the GS, soil infiltration rate declined more slowly than the others communities, reaching a terminal infiltration rate significantly greater (57.7 mm) than those of DGS and DSS (25.7 and 12.9 mm, respectively). The high rate of water losses via overland-flow may limit the possibilities for grass seedling emergence and establishment and favor the persistent dominance of shrubs.  相似文献

Although Jatropha curcas, an important tropical biofuel crop, is reputed for its drought resistance, its ability to perform under dry conditions has hardly been investigated. In a greenhouse experiment we investigated the plant–water relationships of Jatropha seedlings from different accessions under different levels of drought stress. There was little difference in plant–water relations between accessions. Drought significantly reduced leaf area, biomass and relative growth rate, but had no effect on specific leaf area, daily range in leaf water potential, leaf water content, transpiration efficiency or aboveground biomass water productivity, corrected for atmospheric conditions. Stem wood density was equally low (0.26 g cm?3) for all treatments. Stem water content was lowest for dry treatment seedlings. Based on these results, Jatropha could be characterized as a stem-succulent tree. In contrast to other stem-succulent deciduous trees, leaves were not shed immediately after the seedlings were confronted with drought. Instead, at the onset of drought, leaves with a higher adaxial stomatal density were formed, after which leaves were only gradually shed. The role of the succulent stem in the water economy of Jatropha was confined to balancing the small water losses of the leaves during drought.  相似文献

为探明砂田土壤水、热状况乃至西瓜生长发育随覆砂年限的变化趋势,为提高中、老砂田的生产效率提供理论依据,本试验选取了5~40年砂田为研究对象,对其砂层含土量、砂层厚度、土壤水热效应及西瓜生长发育进行了研究。结果表明:铺砂年限每增加一年,砂层含土量平均增加0.6%左右,砂层厚度减少0.12 cm左右;西瓜生育期内,10、15、20、30、40年砂田较5年砂田0~20 cm土层积温分别降低了47.68、117.28、122.49、206.56、320.06 ℃;1 m土层内土壤贮水量分别下降了11.74、33.15、39.31、51.99、57.3 mm,表现出新砂田与中砂田较老砂田的增温、保墒效果均随着土层的加深递减,且该趋势在西瓜生育前期较强,中后期逐渐减弱。西瓜生育期随着铺砂年限的延长而延长,土壤水、热状况及西瓜产量、品质、水分利用效率均随着种植年限的延长而逐渐降低,以30年砂田为对照,5、10、15、20年砂田西瓜产量分别增加了170.91%、85.06%、58.76%、46.83%;西瓜含糖量分别提高了1.7%、1.6%、1.3%和0.8%;水分利用效率分别提高了83.48%、35.18%、35.35%和31.50%。  相似文献

The study was conducted to assess the status and trends of soil erosion and relate the perceptions of farmers on cattle productivity and botanical indicators to measured ecological conditions of rangelands in three altitude regions of southwest Ethiopia. A total of 342 farmers were interviewed. In addition, the ecological condition of rangelands was assessed. Severe soil erosion, ranked as the primary restriction to free-ranging livestock, occurred predominantly in the lower altitude region (LAR) (P < 0.05). More farmers in LAR witnessed an inadequacy of palatable plant biomass, grazable pasture as well as increased gully formation and expansion, which are strong indicators of soil erosion (P < 0.001). In addition to a decrease in grass cover and productivity of cattle, botanical composition, species richness and grazing capacity of herbaceous plants, less fodder trees and shrubs were observed (P < 0.05). There was a corresponding increase in the percentage of bare ground and soil erosion status along the degradation gradients (P < 0.05). The reported shift in botanical composition, and especially encroachment of invading plant species, can be attributed to soil erosion (P < 0.001). The results suggest that erosion is associated with reduced availability of feed resources and is related to altitude variation.  相似文献

 研究了不同灌溉梯度对疏叶骆驼刺光合生理指标及渗透物质的影响。结果表明,灌溉对疏叶骆驼刺的光合有显著的影响。灌溉后土壤含水率和叶片叶绿素含量升高,同时随着叶片气孔导度值(gs)升高,蒸腾速率(Tr)和胞间CO2浓度(Ci)也增大,进一步促进了光合作用的进行。灌溉后疏叶骆驼刺的光补偿点(LCP)降低,量子效率(φ)升高,从而说明灌溉提高了疏叶骆驼刺对光能的利用程度和效率。随着灌水量的增加,疏叶骆驼刺的呼吸作用不断增强,光合作用也不断增强,说明水分条件越好疏叶骆驼刺的生理代谢越活跃,表现出高合成高消耗。另外,干旱胁迫可以导致疏叶骆驼刺叶片脯氨酸的大量积累,说明脯氨酸在疏叶骆驼刺的抗旱生理中起到重要作用。夏季灌溉可以有效改善疏叶骆驼刺样地的水分状况,提高光合生产力。  相似文献

Dryland salinity is a widespread and serious environmental problem in western Victoria. As a result river environs and farmland have been seriously degraded with loss of habitat, reduced farm production and increased erosion. Until recently, the preferred method of salinity investigation was centred around expensive drilling programs to obtain information on groundwater provinces. More recently, electromagnetic surveys have provided the means of rapidly assessing the levels of soil and water salinities present within the landscape. At a site south of Glenthompson, Victoria, the results of an electromagnetic survey together with an investigation of relevant soil properties are being used to plan salinity control options. High recharge areas do not appear to be present in the study district. The effects of agronomic control options, such as the establishment of perennial grasses, can be predicted by the use of a monthly water balance whereby climatic factors and the crop's efficiency in plant water use can be related. The likely reduction in deep infiltration can then be estimated.  相似文献
