Questionnaires sent to 500 geographers randomly selected from U.S. graduate departments solicited opinions on the quality of scholarship of articles in 34 U.S. geography journals. The five highest ranked were Quaternary Research, Annals, AAG, Arctic and Alpine Research, Geographical Review, and American Cartographer. When familiarity and quality together were ranked, the top five were Annals, AAG, Geographical Review, Professional Geographer, Economic Geography and Journal of Geography. Age and specialty of respondent were most significant in explaining ranking variations. 相似文献

从各国城市发展历程可看出,开发区是城市发展的重要增长极,也是实现对外改革开放的窗口。与开发区的实际发展相对应,国内外学者们对开发区的研究也呈现出多元化倾向,特别是近十年来,围绕开发区转型升级做了较为丰富的研究,论题主要集中在以下六个方面:开发区转型升级战略;开发区转型升级评价;开发区转型升级的影响因素;开发区转型升级模式;开发区与城市空间组织关系和开发区功能转型。综合上述研究成果发现,开发区相关研究成果逐渐丰富而且呈现出高质量化,但就学科发展而言在转型升级模式、转型升级路径、转型升级潜力等方面尚需进一步的拓展和完善。 相似文献

In its landmark report entitled Rates and Taxes: A Fair Share for Responsible Local Government, the Commonwealth House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics, Finance and Public Administration (2003) considered the plight of Australian local government given its very wide terms of reference involving local government's roles and responsibilities, current funding arrangements, municipal capacity, council expenditure, scope for rationalisation, and the findings of the Commonwealth Grants Commission Review (2001) of the Local Government (Financial Assistance) Act 1995. The authors of the ‘Hawker Report’ brought down 18 recommendations, two of which dealt directly with the thorny question of structural reform. This paper seeks to provide a critical assessment of those aspects of the Report that concern structural reform in Australian local government. 相似文献

The federal government's Office of Management and Budget, with staff support from the Census Bureau's Population Division, is responsible for maintaining the statistical standard that provides criteria used to define metropolitan settlement and that delineates individual metropolitan areas for use in federal statistics. Review of the current standard, which dates from 1990, is now under way in conjunction with the 2000 census. Reviews of the emergence of the metropolitan form of settlement in the United States and of previous geospatial units representing metropolitan settlement are provided. A framework of geospatial units to represent the various elements of settlement at the close of the 20th century, including metropolitan and nonmetropolitan forms, is offered. Three papers that provide new approaches to delineating metropolitan and nonmetropolitan settlement in the United States are introduced. ABSTRACT. Under what cultural and political conditions do certain species become successful invaders? What impact does species invasion have on human culture and politics? The work assembled in this special issue of the Geographical Review suggests complex interspecies interactions that complicate any answer to these questions. It demonstrates the need to advance a more integrative human/environment approach to species invasion than has hitherto been seen. Reviewing the concepts demonstrated in these articles and applying them to case histories of Mimosaceae (a family that includes genera such as Acacia, Prosopis, and Mimosa) invasion, two general principles become clear. The status and identification of any species as an invader, weed, or exotic are conditioned by cultural and political circumstances. Furthermore, because the human “preparation of landscape” is a prerequisite for most cases of invasion, and because species invasions impact local culture and politics in ways that often feed back into the environmental system, specific power‐laden networks of human and non‐human actors tend to create the momentum for invasion. It is therefore possible to argue a more general cultural and political account of contemporary species expansion: It is not species but sociobiological networks that are invasive. 相似文献

植物稳定同位素是近年来在地理学、生态学研究中逐步广泛应用的研究手段, 具有综合长 期生物地球化学过程和联系不同系统成分的特点, 国际上已经展开了较为广泛的应用, 国内也有 相关研究。本文对国内外植物C、H、O 稳定同位素研究的回顾, 显示植物稳定同位素与环境因子, 如气温、湿度、降水、环境稳定同位素组成等密切相关。目前植物稳定同位素技术主要应用于历史 时期环境气候的重建, 恢复大气CO2 同位素组成以及CO2 浓度的变化趋势。本文根据植物稳定同 位素的特点和研究基础, 认为植物稳定同位素方法不仅可以用来重建历史时期气候, 而且在区域 环境差异及其生态效应研究上有着重要应用前景。 相似文献

以2000年以来的《地理学报》中英文版论文为例,分析了中国地理学者的论文写作年龄特征,包括平均写作年龄、论文写作主体年龄段、高峰期年龄等等,并以日本《地理学评论》为参照,分析了体制环境因素对地理学者论文写作年龄和周期的影响。结果表明,中国地理学母语论文的写作主体是40岁左右年龄段的学者,而英文论文的写作主体是35岁左右年龄段的学者。中国地理学者的母语平均写作年龄要高于日本,但英文论文作者的平均年龄则低于日本,这种差异反映了中日两国在科研管理制度及理念上的不同。在概括分析了两者差异后提出了对中国地理学的学科发展建议。 相似文献

Wilbur Zelinsky's 1971 paper in Geographical Review entitled the “Hypothesis of the Mobility Transition” was both forward‐looking and offered innovative ideas regarding human geographic mobility. One of the most interesting aspects of the paper was a set of predictions for mobility in a “future superadvanced society”. Many of these predictions have now come to pass, including a general decline in international and internal migration and residential change, the increasing regulation of migration ‐ especially internally, and the possibility that the widespread adoption of information and communication technologies has impacted human geographic mobility. Hence, this essay looks at the mobility transition not as an obsolete frame of reference but as a prescient, pliable, and adaptable framework which not only informs the study of human geographic mobility today but also, perhaps, even into the future. 相似文献
