Gardner solitons (GSs) and double layers (DLs) of dust ion acoustic (DIA) waves in an electronegative plasma (composed of inertial positive and negative ions, Maxwellian cold electrons, non-thermal hot electrons, and negatively charged static dust) are studied. The reductive perturbation method is employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries (K-dV), modified K-dV, and standard Gardner equations, which admits solitary wave and DLs solutions for σ around its critical value σ c (where σ c is the value of σ corresponding to the vanishing of the nonlinear coefficient of the K-dV equation). The parametric regimes for the existence of the GSs and DLs, are obtained. The basic features of DIA GSs and DLs (associated with negative structure only) are analyzed. It has been found that the characteristics of DIA GSs and DLs, are different from that of the K-dV solitons and mK-dV (mixed K-dV) solitons. The implications of our results to different space and laboratory plasma situations are discussed.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation has been made on the Dust ion-acoustic (DIA) Gardner solitons (GSs) and double layers (DLs) in electronegative plasma consisting of inertial positive and negative ions, super-thermal (kappa distributed) electrons, and negatively charged static dust. The standard reductive perturbation method is employed to derive the Korteweg-de Vries (K-dV), modified K-dV (mK-dV), and standard Gardner equations, which admits solitary waves (SWs) and DLs solutions. It have been found that GSs and DLs exist for α around its critical value α c , where α c is the value of α corresponding to the vanishing of the nonlinear coefficient of the K-dV equation. The parametric regimes for the existence of both the positive as well as negative SWs and negative DLs are obtained. The basic features of DIA SWs and DLs are analyzed and it has been found that the polarity, speed, height, thickness of such DIA SWs and DLs structures, are significantly modified due to the presence of two types of ions and spectral index (κ) of super-thermal electrons. It has also been found that the characteristics of DIA GSs and DLs, are different from that of the K-dV solitons and mK-dV solitons. The relevance of our results to different interstellar space plasma situations are discussed.  相似文献

Dust-ion-acoustic (DIA) waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma system consisting of inertial ions, negatively charged immobile dust, and superthermal (kappa distributed) electrons with two distinct temperatures are investigated both numerically and analytically by deriving Korteweg–de Vries (K-dV), modified K-dV (mK-dV), and Gardner equations along with its double layers (DLs) solutions using the reductive perturbation technique. The basic features of the DIA Gardner solitons (GSs) as well as DLs are studied, and an analytical comparison among K-dV, mK-dV, and GSs are also observed. The parametric regimes for the existence of both the positive as well as negative SWs and negative DLs are obtained. It is observed that superthermal electrons with two distinct temperatures significantly affect on the basic properties of the DIA solitary waves and DLs; and depending on the parameter μ c (the critical value of relative electron number density μ e1), the DIA K-dV and Gardner solitons exhibit both compressive and rarefactive structures, whereas the mK-dV solitons support only compressive structures and DLs support only the rarefactive structures. The present investigation can be very effective for understanding and studying various astrophysical plasma environments (viz. Saturn magnetosphere, pulsar magnetosphere, etc.).  相似文献

The Gardner equation is derived and numerically solved. This equation shows the existence of compressive and rarefactive dust-acoustic (DA) solitons with two-temperature ions beyond the K-dV (Korteweg–de Vries) limit. These may be referred to as DA Gardner solitons (DA-GSs). Here we deal with a dusty plasma, composed of negatively charged cold mobile dust fluids, inertialess Boltzmann electrons and ions with two distinctive temperatures. The basic features of the compressive and rarefactive DA solitons are identified. These solitons are found to exist beyond the K-dV limit, i.e. they exist for μ i1μ c. Here μ i1=n i10/Z d n d0, Z d is the number of electrons residing upon the dust grain surface, and n i0 (n d0) is the lower temperature ion (dust) number density at equilibrium. These DA-GSs are completely different from the K-dV solitons, because μ c (the critical value) corresponds to vanishing of the nonlinear coefficient of the K-dV equation, and μ i1μ c corresponds to K-dV solitons, with extremely large amplitude, for which the validity of the reductive perturbation method breaks down. It has been found that, depending on whether the parameter μ i1 is less than or greater than the critical value, the DA-GSs exhibit compression for μ i1>μ c and rarefaction for μ i1<μ c. The basic features of double layers with arbitrary amplitude are also briefly discussed, employing the pseudo-potential approach. The present investigation might be relevant to the electrostatic solitary structures observed in various cosmic dust-laden plasmas, such as supernova shells, Saturn’s F-ring, the ionopause of Halley’s comet, etc.  相似文献

The propagation of Gardner solitons (GSs) in a nonplanar (cylindrical and spherical) geometry associated with a dusty plasma whose constituents are non-inertial negative static dust, inertial ions, and two population of Boltzmann electrons with two distinctive temperatures, are investigated by deriving the modified Gardner (mG) equation using the reductive perturbation method. The basic features of nonplanar dust-ion-acoustic GSs are analyzed by numerical solutions of mG equation. It has been found that the basic characteristics of GSs, which are shown to exist for the values of μ c =n e10/n i0 around 0.319 for n e20/n i0=0.04 and T e1/T e2=0.2 [where n e10 (n e20) is the cold (hot) electron number density at equilibrium, T e1 (T e2) is the temperature of the cold (hot) electron species] are different from those of K-dV (Korteweg-de Vries) solitons, which do not exist around μ c ?0.319. The implications of our results in understanding the nonlinear electrostatic perturbations observed in many laboratory and astrophysical situations (viz. double-plasma machines, rf discharge plasma, noctilucent cloud region in Earth’s atmosphere, source regions of Auroral Kilometric Radiation, Saturn’s E-ring, etc.) where electrons with different temperatures can significantly modify the wave dynamics, are also briefly discussed.  相似文献

Nonlinear propagation of dust-acoustic waves in an unmagnetized dusty plasma consisting of negatively charged mobile dust, nonextensive ions following nonextensive q-distribution and two distinct temperature superthermal electrons following superthermal kappa distribution each, is investigated by employing lower and higher order nonlinear equations, namely the Korteweg-de-Vries (K-dV), the modified Korteweg-de-Vries (mK-dV) and the Gardner equations. The characteristic features of the hump (positive potential) and dip (negative potential) shaped dust-acoustic (DA) Gardner solitons are found to exist beyond the K-dV limit. The effects of two superthermal temperature electrons and ions nonextensivity on the basic characteristics of DA K-dV, mK-dV and Gardner solitons have also been investigated. It has been found that the DA Gardner solitons exhibit either negative or positive potential solitons only for q<q c where, q c is the critical value of the nonextensive parameter q. The possible applications of our results in understanding the localized nonlinear electrostatic structures existing in solar atmosphere, Saturn’s magnetosphere etc. (where the tails of the high energetic particles at different temperatures follow power-law like distribution) are also briefly discussed.  相似文献

The problem of solitary electron acoustic (EA) wave propagation in a plasma with nonthermal hot electrons featuring the Tsallis distribution is addressed. A physically meaningful nonextensive nonthermal velocity distribution is outlined. It is shown that the effect of the nonthermal electron nonextensivity on EA waves can be quite important. Interestingly, we found that the phase speed of the linear EA mode increases as the entropic index q decreases. This enhancement is weak for q>1, and significant for q<1. For a given nonthermal state, the minimum value of the allowable Mach numbers is lowered as the nonextensive nature of the electrons becomes important. This critical limit is shifted towards higher values as the nonthermal character of the plasma is increased. Moreover, our plasma model supports rarefactive EA solitary waves the main quantities of which depend sensitively on q. This dependency (for q>1) becomes less noticeable as the nonthermal parameter decreases. Nevertheless, decreasing α yields for q<0 a different result, a trend which may be attributed to the functional form of the nonthermal nonextensive distribution. Our study (which is not aimed at putting the ad hoc Cairns distribution onto a more rigorous foundation) suggests that a background electron nonextensivity may influence the EA solitons.  相似文献

A model for a solar flare, involving magnetic reconnection transferring flux and current between current-carrying magnetic loops connecting two pairs of footpoints, is generalized to include conservation of magnetic helicity during reconnection, as well as conservation of current at all four footpoints. For a set of force-free loops, with the ith loop having flux F i and current I i, the self and mutual helicities are proportional to the self and mutual inductances with the constant of proportionality determined by αi=F i0 I i. In a constant-α model, the change in magnetic energy is proportional to the change in helicity, and conservation of helicity implies conservation of magnetic energy, so that a flare cannot occur. In a quadrupolar model, with α12 initially, α1 increases and α2 decreases when flux and current are transferred from loops 1 and 2 to loops 3 and 4. A model that conserves both current and helicity is constructed; it depends on the initial αs, and otherwise is somewhat simpler than when helicity is neglected.  相似文献

The Crosa and Boynton (1980) empirical model for discrete mass transfer in Her X-1 is further developed. The photometric features of the light curve (peaks of an hour duration and 0.3–0.7 m amplitude, steps near orbital phase =0); and the linear polarization bursts are assumed to be due to the formation and eclipses of the plasma blobs produced by discrete transfer of matter from optical star surface and its interaction with the accretion disc rim. The long lifetime (20h) of the cold (3×104 K) blob extending up to 1011 cm above the disc plane, as well as the deep X-ray flickerings (300 s) during the X-ray absorption dips are assumed to arise from a dispersal of accreting matter by the Rayleigh-Taylor instability in a blob moving through a hot corona of the disk atT c =3×106 K andn c =3×1011 cm–3. Thermal equilibrium in the corona and in the blobs are supported by X-ray flux. Within the first few hours after its formation a blob disintegrates into drops withr=5×109 cm,T=3×104 K, andn=3×1013 cm–3 which move then along Keplerian orbits. Frictional interactions of the drops with the corona destroy them on a 20h time-scale. The proposed model makes it possible to interpret the diverse observational facts and to predict numerous observational displays in the optical, UV, and X-ray bands. The first results of our optical-spectrum observations of blobs are briefly described.  相似文献

A technique for determining the effective temperature T eff and the acceleration of gravity log g of F and G supergiants is discussed using four bright stars as examples, specifically two F supergiants, α Lep(F0 Ib) and π Sgr (F2 II), and two G supergiants, β Aqr (G0 Ib) and α Aqr (G2 Ib). In all four cases the parameter log g was derived from the high precision parallaxes recently obtained by van Leeuwen in a new reduction of data from Hipparcos. Because of this, the accuracy of the determinations of log g is much greater than before. Estimates of the parameter T eff were checked using accurate values of T eff obtained previously by the infrared flux method (IRFM). In the case of the early F supergiants, this method confirms the good accuracy of the T eff values derived from the Balmer lines and the β-index. Measurements of the Balmer lines for the G supergiants are difficult because of strong blending, so the indices [c 1] and β serve as indicators of T eff . It is shown that the indices [c 1] and β yield a systematic difference in the values of T eff ; the IRFM confirms that deriving T eff from the index [c 1] is more accurate. Based on the values of T eff and log g that have been found here, with the aid of the evolutionary tracks, we estimate the mass M and age t of each star. The Fe II lines, which are insensitive to departures from LTE, have been used to determine the microturbulence parameter V t and the iron abundance. The latter is close to the solar iron abundance. Some problems concerning the chemical composition of these stars are discussed using the supergiant α Lep as an example. Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 52, No. 2, pp. 237–257 (May 2009).  相似文献

Propagation of small but finite amplitude ion acoustic solitons and double layers are investigated in electron–positron–ion plasmas in presence of highly negatively charged impurities or dust. The presence of negatively charged dust particulates can result in existence of two critical concentrations of ion–electron density ratio α. One of them α D decides the existence of double layers, whereas the other one α R decides the nature of the solitons and double layers. The system supports both compressive and rarefactive solitons as well as double layers. The parameter regimes of transitions from compressive to rarefactive solitons and double layers are also specified.  相似文献

The energy density of Vaidya-Tikekar isentropic superdense star is found to be decreasing away from the center, only if the parameter K is negative. The most general exact solution for the star is derived for all negative values of K in terms of circular and inverse circular functions. Which can further be expressed in terms of algebraic functions for K = 2-(n/δ)2 < 0 (n being integer andδ = 1,2,3 4). The energy conditions 0 ≤ p ≤ αρc 2, (α = 1 or 1/3) and adiabatic sound speed conditiondp dρ ≤ c 2, when applied at the center and at the boundary, restricted the parameters K and α such that .18 < −K −2287 and.004 ≤ α ≤ .86. The maximum mass of the star satisfying the strong energy condition (SEC), (α = 1/3) is found to be3.82 Mq· at K=−2/3, while the same for the weak energy condition (WEC), (α =1) is 4.57 M_ atK=−>5/2. In each case the surface density is assumed to be 2 × 1014 gm cm-3. The solutions corresponding to K>0 (in fact K>1) are also made meaningful by considering the hypersurfaces t= constant as 3-hyperboloid by replacing the parameter R 2 by −R2 in Vaidya-Tikekar formalism. The solutions for the later case are also expressible in terms of algebraic functions for K=2-(n/δ2 > 1 (n being integer or zero and δ =1,2,3 4). The cases for which 0 < K < 1 do not possess negative energy density gradient and therefore are incapable of representing any physically plausible star model. In totality the article provides all the physically plausible exact solutions for the Buchdahl static perfect fluid spheres. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Properties of ion acoustic solitons head-on collision in an ultracold neutral plasma composed of ion fluid and non-Maxwellian electron distributions are investigated. For this purpose, the extended Poincare-Lighthill-Kuo (PLK) method is employed to derive coupled Kortweg-de Vries (KdV) equations describing the system. The nonlinear evolution equations for the colliding solitons and corresponding phase shifts are investigated both analytically and numerically. It is found that the polarity of the colliding solitons strongly depends on the type of the non-Maxwellian distribution (via nonthermal or superthermal electron distributions). Especially the phase shift due to solitons collision is strongly influenced by the non-Maxwellian distribution. A new critical nonthermal parameter β c , characterizing the nonthermal electron distribution, and which is not present for superthermal particle distributions, allows the existence of double polarity of the solitons. The phase shift increases below β c for compressive solitons, but it decreases above β c for rarefactive soliton. For superthermal distribution the phase shift increases rapidly for low spectral index κ, whereas for higher values of κ, the phase shift decreases smoothly and becomes nearly stable for κ>10. Around β c and small values of κ, the deviation from the Maxwellian state is strongest, and therefore the phase shift has unexpected behavior due to the presence of more energetic electrons that are represented by the non-Maxwellian distributions. The nonlinear structure, as reported here, could be useful for controlling the solitons that may be created in future ultracold neutral plasma experiments.  相似文献

Photometry of HD 155638=V792 Her has been analyzed to determine the elements of this totally eclipsing RS CVn binary. The light variation outside eclipse was found to have a period of 27d.07±0d.07, which is slightly different from the 27d.5384±0d.0045 orbital period. Analysis of the eclipses was achieved by a modification of the Russell-Merrill technique. With the aid of radial velocity measures, absolute elements were obtained for the hot and cool stars, respectively;R h=2.58R ,R c=12.28R ,M h=1.40M ,M c=1.46M ,i=80o.61 and velocity semi-amplitudesK c=48.36 km s–1±0.79 km s–1, andK h=50.50 km s–1±0.33 km s–1. The apparent magnitudes areV h=9 m .73 andV c=8 m .48. The distance to HD 155638 was estimated to be 310 parsecs.  相似文献

In this work, which is a supplemental to previous one, we undertake to establish some cosmological thermodynamic equations in the context of the cyclical universe as the scenario in which the universe itself is considered like an adiabatic thermodynamical system enclosed in physical volume characterized by periodic reversible transitions. Our model is based on the combination of local and global cosmological time-dependent temperatures {T 0(τ 0),T(τ)} and volumes {V 0(τ 0),V(τ)} instead of the critical temperature T c and volume V c; and the infinitesimal relative variations {dT/T,dV/V}, which are mainly due to the cosmological chaotic fluctuations that are generally ignored in certain oscillating models. By taking into account all these factors, certain equations in the form of d /η d τ/τ H have been established and from them we derive some others to provide a mechanism that is responsible for the thermodynamic evolution of the cyclical universe.  相似文献

This paper investigates the triangular libration points in the photogravitational restricted three-body problem of variable mass, in which both the attracting bodies are radiating as well and the infinitesimal body vary its mass with time according to Jeans’ law. Firstly, applying the space-time transformation of Meshcherskii in the special case when q=1/2, k=0, n=1, the differential equations of motion of the problem are given. Secondly, in analogy to corresponding problem with constant mass, the positions of analogous triangular libration points are obtained, and the fact that these triangular libration points cease to be classical ones when α≠0, but turn to classical L 4 and L 5 naturally when α=0 is pointed out. Lastly, introducing the space-time inverse transformation of Meshcherskii, the linear stability of triangular libration points is tested when α>0. It is seen that the motion around the triangular libration points become unstable in general when the problem with constant mass evolves into the problem with decreasing mass.  相似文献

This paper presents the model equations governing the nonlinear interaction between dispersive Alfvén wave (DAW) and magnetosonic wave in the low-β plasmas (β≪m e/m i; known as inertial Alfvén waves (IAWs); here \upbeta = 8pn0T /B02\upbeta = 8\pi n_{0}T /B_{0}^{2} is thermal to magnetic pressure, n 0 is unperturbed plasma number density, T(=T eT i) represents the plasma temperature, and m e(m i) is the mass of electron (ion)). This nonlinear dynamical system may be considered as the modified Zakharov system of equations (MZSE). These model equations are solved numerically by using a pseudo-spectral method to study the nonlinear evolution of density cavities driven by IAW. We observed the nonlinear evolution of IAW magnetic field structures having chaotic behavior accompanied by density cavities associated with the magnetosonic wave. The relevance of these investigations to low-β plasmas in solar corona and auroral ionospheric plasmas has been pointed out. For the auroral ionosphere, we observed the density fluctuations of ∼ 0.07n 0, consistent with the FAST observation reported by Chaston et al. (Phys. Scr. T84, 64, 2000). The heating of the solar corona observed by Yohkoh and SOHO may be produced by the coupling of IAW and magnetosonic wave via filamentation process as discussed here.  相似文献

We present our results of high temporal resolution spectroscopic observation and study in Hα, Ca II, and He I lines for the 2B/M1.9 confined disk flare on September 9, 2001, combining with GOES soft X-ray (SXR) and Yohkoh hard X-ray (HXR) observations. Apparent redshifted and red-asymmetric profiles were observed in the initial phase. The redshift lasted until the late phase. The derived velocity depends on both the spectral line and the used method. The redshift velocities computed from the line centers of the observed emission profiles (υ0) are of the order of 10 km s−1 both inside and outside the streak area. However, the velocities determined from the excess profiles by the bisector method (υ) are larger in the streak (18–50 km s−1). Both υ and the red full widths (RFWs) derived from the excess profiles show temporal variations similar to the HXR light-curve in the streak area. Moreover, the Hα line wings of nonthermal characteristics, the redshift velocities, and the lifetime of impulsive broadening suggest that the streak is related to nonthermal electron bombardment. Spectral simulations reveal that we cannot reproduce the observed profiles in the three lines simultaneously with a set of parameters, indicating that the flare atmosphere was not homogeneous along the line-of-sight. Most of the observed Hα profiles showed a ‘flat-top’ structure, implying the flare plasma was optically thick for this line. The electron temperatures (Te) deduced from the line-center intensity of the three lines are similar and estimated to be higher than 7200 K. The obvious central reversal of the Hα profiles due to absorption of materials in the impulsive phase lasted more than 2 min. However, the far blue wings of the Ca II profiles in the impulsive phase showed low-intensity emission, which is suggestive of the existence of large turbulence or macroscopic motion (> 50 km s−1), which is inconsistent with the current flare model.  相似文献

TheUBV light curves obtained by Duerbeck (1975) andHa (wide) and Ha (narrow) light curves obtained by Chambliss & Davan (1987) of the detached eclipsing binary VV Orionis (VV Ori) were analysed using the Wilson-Devinney method fixing the two parametersT h (25,000 K) and q(0.4172), resulting in the following absolute elements:A = 13.605 ± 0.03 LR,R h = 5.03 ±0.03R , Rc = 2.43 ±0.02R ,M bol,h = -5.18 ± 0.11,M bol,c = -1.54 ± 0.06,m h =10.81 + 0.42m andm c = 4.51 ± 0.41m . The de-reddened colours obtained from applying the reddening corrections ofE(B-V) = 0m.05 andE(U-B) = O m .04, and the derived temperatures of the components, gave spectral types ofB 1.5V for the primary and 54-5V with anUV excess of 0 m ·3 for the secondary component. A comparison of the logL and logT e of the components with the observed ZAMS shows the primary component to be a little above and the secondary component to be a little below/or on the ZAMS. A comparison of the properties of the components of VV Ori and a few other detached systems with the normal stars in the logL, logR and logT e versus logm planes, indicated a need for either a readjustment of the scales of the above parameters or modifications in the theoretical models. From the position of the components on the evolutionary tracks of Pop I composition computed by Schaller et al. (1992) it is noticed that while the primary component of W Ori had slightly evolved along the main-sequence, its secondary is still unevolved. The age of VV Ori is found to be 10 ± 1 million years and it is at a distance of 368 ± 10 pc.  相似文献

In this paper we have investigated the beat wave excitation of an ion-acoustic wave at the difference frequency of two kinetic (or shear) Alfvén waves propagating in a magnetized plasma with β<1 (β=8π n e0 T e/B 0 2 , where n e0 is the unperturbed electron number density, T e is the electron temperature, and B 0 is the external magnetic field). On account of the interaction between two kinetic Alfvén waves of frequencies ω 1 and ω 2, the ponderomotive force at the difference frequency ω 1ω 2 leads to the generation of an ion-acoustic wave. Also because of the filamentation of the Alfvén waves, magnetic-field-aligned density dips are observed. In this paper we propose that the ion-acoustic wave generated by this mechanism may be one of the possible mechanisms for the heating and acceleration of solar wind particles.  相似文献
