Sequential non-destructive neutron activation analysis was used to determine the bulk abundance of Fe, Al, Na, Mn, Or, Sc, Co and Ir in approximately 300 individual chondrules from 16 chondrites representing the H (3–5), L4 and LL(3–6) compositional and petrologic classes. For some of the chondrules, Si, Ni, Ca and V were also determined. The histograms indicate that the most probable abundances for lithophilic elements, except Cr, are enriched in the chondrules, while the siderophilic elements are depleted in the chondrules compared to the whole chondrite. Some of the abundance populations, such as Al and Fe, appear to be multimodal. Systematic variations in the composition of the chondrules with increasing petrologic type were observed; most consistent are an increasing Na-Al and Cr-Al correlation, a decreasing Na-Mn correlation, increasing Na abundance and decreasing Na and Mn dispersions among chondrules. The systematic compositional variations with increasing petrologic type are consistent with an increasing approach to equilibrium between chondrules and matrix.Observed elemental correlations are generally consistent with mineralogical controls expected on the basis of geochemical affinities suggested by the mineral assemblages present in the chondrules. However, a prevalent Al-Ir correlation was observed, and is most pronounced for a group of chondrules belonging to a population high in Al. A Sc-Ir correlation was observed. Also, an anti-correlation between chondrule masses and Al (and Ir for some chondrules) content of the chondrules was observed. These correlations are attributed to a fractionation during condensation or chondrule formation and cannot be attributed to classical geochemical similarities i.e. these correlations result from a cosmochemical fractionation. From the compositional evidence, it is suggested that there may be two mechanisms for chondrule production. Some high Al chondrules which exhibit the Al-Ir correlation are believed to be remelted primitive high-temperature aggregates. The elemental composition of the chondrules from the lower Al abundance population is consistent with a preferential remelting of pre-existing silicates.  相似文献

U-Th-Pb systematics study of Allende inclusions showed that U, Th and Sr concentrations in Ca, Al (pyroxene)-rich chondrules and white and pinkish-white aggregate separates of Allende are five to ten times higher than those of the matrix, whereas Mg (olivine)-rich chondrules have U and Th concentrations about twice as high as the matrix. Th concentrations are extremely high in white aggregates and in pinkish-white (spinel-rich) aggregates while U and Sr concentrations in white aggregates are more than twice as high as those in pinkish-white aggregates. Large enrichment of these refractory elements in the white aggregates indicates that they contain high-temperature condensates from the solar nebula. The Pb concentrations in the inclusions are less than half of those in the whole rock and matrix, indicating that the matrix is a lower-temperature condensate. The isotopic composition of lead in the matrix is less radiogenic than that of the whole meteorite, whereas lead in Ca- and Al-rich chondrules and aggregates is extremely radiogenic. The 206Pb/204Pb ratio reaches as high as 55.9 in a white aggregate separate. The lead of Mg-rich chondrules is moderately radiogenic and the 206Pb/204Pb ratio ranges from 18 to 26. A striking linear relationship exists among leads in the chondrules, aggregates and matrix on the 207Pb/204Pb vs 204Pb/204Pb plot. The slope of the best fit line is 0.6188 ± 0.0016, yielding an isochron age of 4553 ± 4 m.y. The regression line passes through primordial lead values obtained from Canyon Diablo troilite. The data, when corrected for Canyon Diablo troilite Pb and plotted on a U-Pb concordia diagram, show that the pink and white aggregates and the Ca-Al-rich and Mg-rich inclusions have excess Pb and define a chord which intersects the concordia curve at 4548 ± 25 m.y. and 107 ± 70 m.y. The intercepts might correspond to the agglomeration age of the meteorite and a time of probably later disturbance, respectively. The matrix and some chondrules which contain less radiogenic lead did, however, not fit on the chord. The Rb-Sr data of Allende did not define an isochron suggesting that the Rb-Sr system was also disturbed by a later event, as suggested by the U-Pb concordia data. The lowest observed 87Sr/86Sr ratio in Allende inclusions is similar to the initial ratio of the Angra dos Reis achondrite (Papanastassiou, Thesis, 1970).The initial Pb isotopic composition of Orgueil calculated by a single-stage evolution model is more radiogenic than that of Canyon Diablo troilite. To reconcile the U-Pb data of Orgueil and Allende, we propose that the initial lead isotopic composition of the carbonaceous chondrites was slightly different from that of Canyon Diablo troilite Pb.  相似文献

All objects >100 μm in apparent diameter in five polished thin sections of the Mokoia CV3 chondrite were studied and classified. Number and volume percentages and mean apparent size of each type of chondrule and inclusion were determined. Three major types of olivine chondrules were observed: igneous chondrules, recrystallized chondrules, and chondrules that appear to be accretional aggregates. Coarse-grained CAI's have igneous textures and mineral parageneses, while fine-grained CAI's are aggregates containing varying proportions of Al-rich concentric objects, Ca-rich chaotic material, and inclusion matrix. Chondrules and refractory inclusions in Mokoia and Allende are broadly similar in texture and mineral chemistry, but Mokoia refractory inclusions contain phyllosilicates rather than feldspathoids, and melilite-rich CAI's are more abundant in Allende. We think that most CAI's formed during the metamorphism, partial melting, and incomplete distillation of primitive dust aggregates when they were heated in the solar nebula. In the process, Ca-rich melt appears to have been physically separated from Al-rich residues, producing the observed fractionation of Ca from Al into distinct constituents of CAI's. Some CAI's may be aggregates of devitrified, amorphous metastable condensates. Inclusion matrix may have condensed from silicate-rich vapors produced during distillation. Mokoia inclusion matrix contains phyllosilicates that are probably primitive nebular material.  相似文献

INAA data for Ca, Sc, Hf, La, Ce, Sm, Eu, Tb, Yb, Lu, Os, Ir, Ru, Na, Cl, Br, Fe, Mn, Cr, Co, Au, As, and Sb are presented for ten amoeboid aggregates from the Allende meteorite. Only one lacks olivine. Seven of the remainder, as a group, have cosmic proportions of refractory lithophile and siderophile elements and appear to have formed when coarse-grained Allende inclusion material underwent partial reaction with a low-temperature nebular gas and mixture with FeO-rich olivine. The other two have highly fractionated abundances of refractory elements relative to one another compared to Cl chondrites, including Group II REE patterns, and probably formed by the mixing of fine-grained Allende inclusion material with FeO-rich olivine. Non-refractory siderophile components are also different in composition in each type of amoeboid olivine aggregate.  相似文献

Precise determination of REE and Ba abundances in three carbonaceous (Orgueil Cl, Murchison C2 and Allende C3) and seven olivine-bronzite chondrites were carried out by mass spectrometric isotope dilution technique. Replicate analyses of standard rock and the three carbonaceous chondrites demonstrated the high quality of the analyses (accuracies for REE are ±1–2 per cent). Certain carbonaceous chondrite specimens showed small positive irregularities in Yb abundance. The Yb ‘anomaly’ (approximately + 5 per cent relative to the average of 10 ordinary chondrites) in Orgueil may relate to high temperature components. The REE pattern of Guareña (H6) exhibits comparatively extensive fractionation (about factor 2) with a negative anomaly for Eu (17 ± 1 percent) compared to the average H chondrite. This could be interpreted in terms of extensive thermal metamorphism leading to melting.Apart from absolute abundance differences, there appears to be small but recognizable fractionation among the average relative REE abundances of Cl, E, H and L chondrites. However, individual chondrites within these groups showed more or less fractionated REE patterns relative to each other. The distinction between H and L chondrites was well demonstrated in Eu-Sm correlation curves and absolute abundance differences of REE and major elements.Si-normalized atomic ratios of the REE abundances in different kinds of chondrites to those in Orgueil (Cl) chondrite were 0.58 (E), 0.75 (H), 0.81 (L), 1.07 (C2) and 1.32 (C3).  相似文献

Fine structures of mutually normalized rare-earth patterns of chondrites   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
REE abundances in ten chondrites (nine falls and one find) were determined very accurately by mass-spectrometric stable isotope dilution techniques. All of the chondrites have different relative and absolute REE patterns. Except for Eu and, rarely, for Ce, the REE abundances in chondrites are smoothly fractionated from sample to sample. Notwithstanding differences in the abundances of common REE, four of five L6 chondrites have very similar absolute Eu abundances; their mutually-normalized REE patterns are not curved, but are composed of two rectilinear segments. The Leedey-normalized REE pattern for St. Séverin (LL6) is composed of two concave curves. Yonozu's (H4,5) pattern shows negligibly concave curvature on both sides of Eu. Kesen's (H4) pattern is unusual in its overall pattern but also in irregularities for particular elements. The irregularity may be connected with the unusually high vapor pressure of metallic Yb. The REE pattern for the Allende bulk sample shows a discontinuity, presumably reflecting its considerable heterogeneity of composition and structure. It is evident that any pattern of ordinary chondrites cannot be produced from the Allende bulk pattern. A comparison is also made with the results on the chondrite composites previously investigated.  相似文献

Tl and Pb isotopic abundances have been measured in various phases from Allende and the distribution and siting of these elements in the matrix phase investigated. Matrix fractions, prepared by sieving, sedimentation, magnetic separation and acid etching, were further characterised by X-ray diffraction and SEM. Tl concentrations range from 1 ppb in coarse grained inclusions to 1560 ppb in the acid-etched carbon residues and from 32 ppb to 194 ppb in the 16 matrix fractions. Pb concentrations which range from 0.1 ppm to 3.1 ppm, are enhanced in magnetic phases and depleted in Allende pentlandite relative to the whole meteorite. The Tl-204Pb abundance diagram is described near the origin by the inclusions and chondrules and extends through sulphide to the non-magnetic and magnetic matrix fractions. Abundances in the finest grained matrix fractions form a linear trend which passes through the origin and the Orgueil and Murchison whole meteorite data. The deviation of magnetic matrix fractions from the above linear trend is probably related to the presence of an intimate association of an awaruite-sulphide-carbon species. 92% of the Tl in the carbon residues, which is released on hydrolysis with HCl, probably resides in an organic host molecule(s) on the macromolecular carbonaceous material, whereas the surface film of organics on the matrix grains shows no apparent enrichment of Tl.Tl and 204Pb abundances revealed an inverse correlation with grain size and a distribution within the grains rather than as a surface layer, is indicated. Constraints placed by the data on the formational environment of the matrix grains are considered. Interstellar shock heating and rapid radiative cooling is a possible mechanism for the establishment of the observed inverse correlation of volatile abundance with grain size. Matrix data do not lend support for a recent redistribution of lead as an explanation for the apparent excess Pb in Allende. The apparent initial Pb isotopic compositions of the matrix fractions are heterogeneous and not attributable to terrestrial contamination. The very magnetic fractions have high abundances of Pb and the least radiogenic apparent initial Pb compositions, whereas the non-magnetic fractions have lower Pb abundances but more radiogenic apparent initial Pb compositions. The data also indicate that use of the predicted Tl-204Pb cosmothermometer, to infer accretion temperatures, is apparently not valid for individual phases of Allende.  相似文献

Concentrations of rare-earth elements (REE), Sc, Fe, Co, Cr, Na and Ir in the bulk sample and mineral separates of the isotopically unique Allende inclusion, EK 1-4-1, were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis. REE concentrations were also determined by mass-spectrometric isotope dilution for two density separates. The inclusion showed enrichment of light REE over heavy REE with a positive Yb anomaly, thus showing a tendency to resemble group II fine-grained inclusions in REE abundances, although EK 1-4-1 is a coarse-grained inclusion. High Cr concentrations also indicate group II affinity. However, high Ir (6 ppm) and Sc (105 ppm), and low FeO (1.80%), and Co (13.8 ppm) concentrations in the bulk sample and low Na concentrations in mineral separates show group I affinity.Between melilite and pyroxene fractions, the same samples in which mass-fractionated O isotope ratios were observed (Clayton and Mayeda, 1977), REE, Sc, Co and Fe showed distributions which are substantially different from those observed for “ordinary” Allende type B inclusions. These two minerals do not appear to be in equilibrium with respect to trace element distributions. The results indicate that the isotopically unique EK 1-4-1 is also unusual in its elemental abundances and distributions.  相似文献

The Bovedy meteorite fell on 25 April 1969 in Northern Ireland; the main mass of 4·94 kg was found at Bovedy (54°57′N, 06°37′W). It is an L3 chondrite with abundant chondrules clearly visible in hand specimen. Bulk chemical analyses are presented, the total Fe content being 22·5%. The olivines are homogeneous (Fa24) but the pyroxenes are not equilibrated (Fs8–28). Brown glass is common within chondrules but a clear glass of composition An85 is present interstitially in a few orthopyroxene-rich (Fs17–28) chondrules. A bleb, 2 mm across, of clear glass, again of composition An85 was found in one stone of the meteorite and in the glass five REE (rare earth elements), (La, Sm, Eu, Yb, Lu) were determined. The low REE abundances coupled with a large positive Eu anomaly are characteristic of plagioclase, but the finer details of the pattern suggest that this glass has a closer affinity to the lunar anorthosites than to plagioclases from lunar mare basalts or eucritic meteorites. There is also evidence that the magnitude of the Eu anomaly for plagioclases and anorthosites from extra-terrestrial sources is inversely related to trivalent REE content. The existence of anorthositic material and, as a consequence, a differentiated planetary body prior to the formation of the Bovedy meteorite is suggested.  相似文献

Iodine-xenon studies have been performed on nine Allende chondrules and a sample of oxidized Allende matrix material. The chondrules are all very rich in radiogenic xenon relative to trapped xenon, making it possible to determine a relatively precise model initial iodine composition for each temperature extraction. These model compositions show a total range in variation of about 20 percent, spanning the compositions seen in Bjurbole chondrules. One of the chondrules (chondrule 6) gives a well-defined isochron, with an apparent age .53 ±. 15 m.y. later than Bjurbole whole rock. The rest of the chondrules show a pattern of increasing apparent antiquity with increasing extraction temperature, which could be interpreted as relatively slow cooling (100–200°C/m.y.). Alternatively, poorly-defined plateaus in composition can be seen, perhaps indicative of a few phases with distinct initial iodine compositions (but also temperature-ordered), as has been previously suggested for Allende inclusions. Possible consequences of these interpretations are discussed. Elemental abundances were determined for some elements several months after the irradiation by INAA, and suggest that all the chondrules except chondrule 6 might be pyroxene- or mesostasis-rich. The oxidized matrix sample gives a well-defined isochron with an initial 129I127I ratio higher than any plateaus seen in the chondrules, suggesting that, if this sample is representative of matrix, the matrix pre-dates the chondrules. The initial 244Pu238U ratios of the Allende chondrules and 10 Bjurbole chondrules irradiated earlier appear to be consistent with. 004–.007 values quoted for unfractionated material in the early solar nebula.  相似文献

Precisional analyses of the abundances of La, Ce, and major elements in thermal waters and rocks of the Uzon-Geyzernaya volcanotectonic depression, supplemented by published data on a number of modern high-temperature hydrothermal systems of Kamchatka and two other areas of the world, allowed defining genetically important patterns of rare-earth elements (REE) distribution. The La and Ce abundances positively correlate with silica contents both in fresh igneous rocks of the study areas and in the products formed by hydrothermal processes. All studied hydrothermal clays are enriched in La and Ce. The general enrichment trend is similar to the pattern of positive correlation between the La and Ce abundances. Geothermal waters display a strong relationship between REE enrichment and pH. Enhanced REE enrichment trend is observed in thermal waters with abundant SO42 ? and K. The REE versus Cl and B diagrams show two individual fields reflecting the level of acidity-alkalinity of thermal waters. These data demonstrate that La and Ce concentrations in the products of modern hydrothermal systems (in fluids and secondary mineral phases) are governed by wallrock composition, anionic water composition, and pH/Eh-dependent adsorption processes.  相似文献

Rare-earth abundances in chondritic meteorites   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Fifteen chondrites, including eight carbonaceous chondrites, have been analyzed for rare earth element (REE) abundances by isotope dilution. These analyses complement and extend earlier isotope dilution REE determinations in chondrites, performed in other laboratories, so that coverage of major chondrite classes is now complete. An examination of this body of precise and comparable REE data from individual chondrites reveals that only a small proportion of the analyses have flat, unfractionated REE patterns within experimental error. A statistical procedure is used to derive revised chondritic abundances of REE by selection of unfractionated patterns. A number of the remaining analyses show Eu anomalies and fractionated patterns consistent with magmatic fractionation as encountered in the products of planetary differentiation. However, many patterns exhibit features not readily explicable by known magmatic processes; in particular, positive Ce anomalies are often encountered. Abundance anomalies can be quantitatively determined by the use of a least-squares curve fitting procedure. The wide variety of anomalous patterns and the uncertainties in model parameters preclude detailed modeling of the origin of anomalies, but it is probable that at least some arise from fractional condensation in the solar nebula, as has been demonstrated for Allende inclusions. Elemental abundance anomalies are found in all major chondrite classes. If these anomalies are ignored, the range and nature of variation within chondrite classes are consistent with a parent body model, in which solid-liquid or solid-solid equilibria induce variations from an unfractionated bulk composition. Absolute abundances in the H, L and LL parent bodies are almost twice those of the E parent body. The persistence of anomalies in chondritic materials relatively removed from direct condensational processes implies that anomalous components are resistant to equilibration or were introduced at a late stage of chondrite formation. Large scale segregation of gas and condensate is also implied, and raises the possibility of bulk variations in REE abundances between planetary bodies.  相似文献

New bulk compositional data for 34 Allende chondrules are presented. Whole chondrules were analyzed by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). The new data set is evaluated together with older INAA data on Allende chondrules and recent INAA data on Mokoia chondrules. The Ni/Co ratios of 200 chondrules are close to the CI- or solar ratio. The chondritic Ni/Co ratios require an unfractionated chondritic metal source and set a limit to the fraction of metal lost from molten chondrules. The bulk chondrule Fe/Ni and Fe/Co ratios are more variable but on average chondritic. Iridium and other refractory metals have extremely variable concentrations in chondrules. High Ir chondrules have chondritic Ir/Sc ratios. They are dominated by CAI (Ca,Al-rich inclusion) components. Low Ir chondrules have approximately chondritic Ir/Ni ratios reflecting mixing with chondritic metal. In low Ir chondrules Ir correlates and in high Ir chondrules Ir does not correlate with Ni or Co. A large fraction of Ir may have entered chondrules in variable amounts as tiny grains of refractory metal alloys. Most Allende chondrules have Ir/Sc ratios below bulk meteorite ratios. Matrix must have a complementary high Ir/Sc ratio, as bulk Allende has approximately chondritic Ir/Sc ratio. Similarly, the high average Ir/Ni ratios of Allende chondrules must be balanced by low Ir/Ni ratios in matrix to obtain the bulk Allende Ir/Ni ratio, which is close to the average solar system ratio.More recent data on single chondrules from Allende by ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) and ICP-OES (Inductively Coupled Optical Emission Spectrometry) show the same trends as the INAA data discussed here.  相似文献

We report the results of rare earth elements (REEs) and U-Th inventory of individual minerals (oldhamite, enstatite and niningerite) in two of the most unequilibrated and primitive EH3 known so far, ALHA77295 and Sahara 97072. Under the highly reducing condition that prevailed during the formation of enstatite chondrites, REEs are mainly chalcophile and concentrated in oldhamite. The study is guided by detailed petrographic investigations of the individual minerals in chondrules, complex sulfide-metal clasts and enstatite-dominated matrices. We developed two textural parameters in order to resolve the evolution of oldhamite condensates and their residence in the solar gas prior to their accretion in the individual objects or in matrices and relate these textural features to the measured REE patterns of the individual oldhamite crystals. These textural parameters are the crystal habit of oldhamite grains (idiomorphic or anhedral) and their host assemblages. REE concentrations were measured by SIMS and LA-ICPMS.Oldhamite grains display REE enrichments (10-100 × CI). Four types of REE patterns are encountered in oldhamite in ALHA77295. In general the REE distributions cannot be assigned to a specific oldhamite-bearing assemblage. The most represented REE pattern is characterized by both slight to large positive Eu and Yb anomalies and is enriched in light REEs relative to heavy REEs. This pattern is present in 97% of oldhamite in Sahara 97072, suggesting a different source region in the reduced part of the nebula or different parental EH asteroids for the two EH3 chondrites. Different parental asteroids are also supported by MgS-FeS zoning profiles in niningerite grains adjacent to troilite revealing both normal and reverse zoning trends and different MnS contents. The observed homogeneity of REE distribution in oldhamite grains in Sahara 97072 is not related to the mild metamorphic event identified in this meteorite that caused breakdown of the major K- and Rb-bearing sulfide (djerfisherite).REE concentrations in enstatite range between 0.2 and 8 × CI. Hence, enstatite is an important REE host next to oldhamite. Most patterns are characterized by negative Eu and Yb anomalies. Niningerites are negligible contributors to bulk EH3 REE inventory. Average positive Eu and Yb anomalies observed in most oldhamite are complimentary to the negative ones in enstatite thus explaining the flat patterns of the bulk meteorites. The condensation calculations based on cosmic abundances predict that the first oldhamite condensates should have flat REE patterns with Eu and Yb depletions since Eu and Yb condense at lower temperature than other REE. However, this pattern is seen in enstatite. Our findings are at odds with the predicted negative Eu and Yb anomalies in oldhamite earliest condensates from a closed system in a reduced solar source. Our petrographic, mineral chemistry and REE abundances of oldhamite, enstatite and niningerite discards an origin of oldhamite by impact melting (Rubin et al., 2009).Our results do not support in first order the scenario of the incorporation of REE in the Earth’s core to explain 142Nd excess in terrestrial samples relative to chondrites because oldhamite is the major REE carrier phase and has super-chondritic Sm/Nd ratios.  相似文献

We found thirty compound chondrules in two CV3 carbonaceous chondrites. The abundance in each meteorite relative to single chondrules is 29/1846 (1.6%) in Allende and 1/230 (0.4%) in Axtell. We examined petrologic features, major element concentrations and oxygen isotopic compositions. Textural, compositional and isotopic evidence suggests that multiple, different mechanisms are responsible for the formation of compound chondrules.Seven compound chondrules are composed of two conjoined porphyritic chondrules with a blurred boundary. At the boundary region of this type of compounds, a poikilitic texture is commonly observed. This suggests that the two chondrules were melted when they came to be in contact. On the other hand, seventeen compound chondrules consist of two conjoined chondrules with a discrete boundary. The preservation of spherical boundary planes of an earlier-formed chondrule of this type implies that it already solidified before fusing with a later-formed chondrule that was still melted. Six samples out of 17 compound chondrules of this type are composed of two BO chondrules. The BO-BO compound chondrules have a unique textural feature in common: the directions of the barred olivines are mostly parallel between two chondrules. This cannot be explained by a simple collision process and forces another mechanism to be taken into consideration. The remaining six compound chondrules differ from the others; they consist of an earlier-formed chondrule enclosed by a later-formed chondrule. A large FeO enrichment was observed in the later-formed chondrules and the enrichment was much greater than that in the later-formed chondrules of other types of compounds. This is consistent with the relict chondrule model, which envisages that the later-formed chondrule was made by a flash melting of a porous FeO-rich dust clump on an earlier-formed chondrule. The textural evidence of this type of compound shows that the earlier-formed chondrule has melted again to varying degrees at the second heating event. This implies that FeO concentrations in bulk chondrules increases during the second heating event if an earlier-formed chondrule was totally melted together with the FeO-rich dust aggregates.Silicate minerals such as olivine and low-Ca pyroxene in compound chondrules have oxygen isotope compositions similar to those in single chondrules from CV3 chondrites. The oxygen isotope composition of each part of the compound chondrule is basically similar to their chondrule pair, but silicates in some chondrules show varying degrees of 16O-enrichment down to −15‰ in δ18O, while those in their partners have 16O-poor invariable compositions near 0 ‰ in δ18O. This implies that the two chondrules in individual compounds formed in the same environments before they became conjoined and the heterogeneous oxygen isotope compositions in some chondrules resulted from incomplete exchange of oxygen atoms between 16O-rich chondrule melts and 16O-poor nebular gas.  相似文献

The condensation of Y and the rare earth elements (REE) from the solar nebula may be controlled by thermodynamic equilibrium between gas and condensed solids. Highly fractionated REE patterns may result if condensates are removed from the gas before condensation is complete. It is found that the fractionation is not a smooth function of REE ionic radius but varies in an extremely irregular pattern. Both Yb and Eu are predicted to be extremely depleted in the early condensate without the requirement of condensation in the divalent state. The model is discussed with respect to a highly fractionated pattern observed by Tanaka and Masuda (Icarus19, 523–530 1973), in a pink Ca-Al-rich inclusion from the Allende meteorite and can account for the abundances of each REE determined. According to the model this inclusion represents a condensate from a previously fractionated gas rather than from a gas of solar composition. Before the condensation of this inclusion, an earlier condensate was formed and was removed from equilibrium with the gas.  相似文献

Lanthanide tetrad effect in bulk chondrules from two moderately altered CM chondrites, Murchison and Yamato-793321 (Y-793321), are reported for the first time. Twenty-three chondrules were petrographically characterized and analyzed for 10 rare earth elements (REE) and other trace and major elements (Ba, Sr, Rb, K, Ca, Mg and Fe) using the precise isotope dilution technique. The results indicate systematic depletion (several times) of alkali and alkaline earths compared to CV and CO chondrules. Most of the porphyritic olivine (8 PO) and olivine-pyroxene (4 POP), porphyritic and radial pyroxene (2 PP, 1 RP), and granular olivine (1 GO) chondrules show a light-REE (L-REE) depleted, heavy-REE (H-REE) smoothly fractionated pattern composed of four (upward convex) segments possessing a relatively large negative Eu anomaly (CI-normalized La/Sm, Lu/Er and Eu/Eu* ratios = 0.3-1: Eu*, normal value). On the other hand, all barred-olivine (5 BO) chondrules, a few PO and POP indicate almost a flat L-REE pattern. In addition, regardless of their textural types, nearly half of the chondrules have a variable degree of Ce and Yb anomalies, and/or L/H-REE discontinuity, which is similar to CV and CO chondrules. The observed L- and H-convex REE patterns accompanied with the negative Eu anomaly is the first known case for chondrules as well as meteoritic materials, but have been previously reported for geological samples such as sedimentary rocks, late stage igneous and metamorphic rocks, and are explained as the lanthanide tetrad effect, which plausibly results from fluid-rock interaction. We suggest that the marked REE fractionations occurred by the selective incorporation of L-, H-REEs and Eu into alteration products in the matrix during alteration processes on the CM parent body, but that the gas/solid REE fractionation characteristics established in the nebula have basically remained unchanged. We suggest that the tetrad effects observed here represent a new index of physico-chemical conditions of fluid-rock interactions prevalent on the CM parent body.  相似文献

The Ningqiang meteorite is a fall carbonaceous chondrite, containing various Ca-, Al-rich inclusions that usually escaped from secondary events such as high-temperature heating and low- temperature alteration. However, it has not yet been classified into any known chemical group. In order to address this issue, 41 elements of the bulk Ningqiang meteorite were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma atom emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) in this study. The Allende (CV3) carbonaceous chondrite and the Jilin (H5) ordinary chondrite were also measured as references, and our analyses are consistent with the previous results. Rare earth and other refractory lithophile elements are depleted in Ningqiang relative to both Allende and mean CK chondrites. In addition, the REE pattern of Ningqiang is nearly flat, while that of Allende shows slight enrichment of LREE relative to HREE. Siderophile elements of Ningqiang are close to those of mean CK chondrites, but lower than those of Allende. Our new analyses indicate that Ningqiang cannot be classified into any known group of carbonaceous chondrites, consistent with previous reports.  相似文献

We report a study of the oxygen isotope ratios of chondrules and their constituent mineral grains from the Mokoia, oxidized CV3 chondrite. Bulk oxygen isotope ratios of 23 individual chondrules were determined by laser ablation fluorination, and oxygen isotope ratios of individual grains, mostly olivine, were obtained in situ on polished mounts using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). Our results can be compared with data obtained previously for the oxidized CV3 chondrite, Allende. Bulk oxygen isotope ratios of Mokoia chondrules form an array on an oxygen three-isotope plot that is subparallel to, and slightly displaced from, the CCAM (carbonaceous chondrite anhydrous minerals) line. The best-fit line for all CV3 chondrite chondrules has a slope of 0.99, and is displaced significantly (by δ17O ∼ −2.5‰) from the Young and Russell slope-one line for unaltered calcium-aluminum-rich inclusion (CAI) minerals. Oxygen isotope ratios of many bulk CAIs also lie on the CV-chondrule line, which is the most relevant oxygen isotope array for most CV chondrite components. Bulk oxygen isotope ratios of most chondrules in Mokoia have δ18O values around 0‰, and olivine grains in these chondrules have similar oxygen isotope ratios to their bulk values. In general, it appears that chondrule mesostases have higher δ18O values than olivines in the same chondrules. Our bulk chondrule data spread to lower δ18O values than any ferromagnesian chondrules that have been measured previously. Two chondrules with the lowest bulk δ18O values (−7.5‰ and −11.7‰) contain olivine grains that display an extremely wide range of oxygen isotope ratios, down to δ17O, δ18O around -50‰ in one chondrule. In these chondrules, there are no apparent relict grains, and essentially no relationships between olivine compositions, which are homogeneous, and oxygen isotopic compositions of individual grains. Heterogeneity of oxygen isotope ratios within these chondrules may be the result of incorporation of relict grains from objects such as amoeboid olivine aggregates, followed by solid-state chemical diffusion without concomitant oxygen equilibration. Alternatively, oxygen isotope exchange between an 16O-rich precursor and an 16O-poor gas may have taken place during chondrule formation, and these chondrules may represent partially equilibrated systems in which isotopic heterogeneities became frozen into the crystallizing olivine grains. If this is the case, we can infer that the earliest nebular solids from which chondrules formed had δ17O and δ18O values around -50‰, similar to those observed in refractory inclusions.  相似文献
