Abstract

In this paper we analyse the stationary mean energy density tensor Tij = BiBj for the x 2-sphere. This model is one of the simplest possible turbulent dynamos, originally due to Krause and Steenbeck (1967): a conducting sphere of radius R with homogeneous, isotropic and stationary turbulent convection, no differential rotation and negligible resistivity. The stationary solution of the (linear) equation for Tij is found analytically. Only Trr , T θθ and T φφ are unequal to zero, and we present their dependence on the radial distance r.

The stationary solution depends on two coefficients describing the turbulent state: the diffusion coefficient β≈?u2c/3 and the vorticity coefficient γ ≈ ?|?×u|2c/3 where u(r, t) is the turbulent velocity and c its correlation time. But the solution is independent of the dynamo coefficient α≈??u·?×u?τc/3 although α does occur in the equation for Tij . This result confirms earlier conclusions that helicity is not required for magnetic field generation. In the stationary state, magnetic energy is generated by the vorticity and transported to the boundary, where it escapes at the same rate. The solution presented contains one free parameter that is connected with the distribution of B over spatial scales at the boundary, about which Tij gives no information. We regard this investigation as a first step towards the analysis of more complicated, solar-type dynamos.  相似文献

基于2019年夏季(8月)对岱海水样的实测数据分析,通过运用克里金插值、相关性分析、多元线性逐步回归、主成分分析方法,探究了叶绿素a(Chl.a)的空间分布特征及其与水环境因子的相关关系,并讨论了相应的防治措施。研究显示:Chl.a空间分布呈现由岸边向湖心递减的趋势,总氮(TN)、总磷(TP)、氨氮(NH3-N)、硝态氮(NO-3-N)、正磷酸盐(PO3-4-P)空间分布特征与Chl.a空间分布特征相近,采样期内岱海湖局部区域水质状况已达到富营养状态;Chl.a与浊度(Turbidity)、TP、TN、悬浮物(SS)、pH、NO-3-N、NH3-N、PO3-4-P、蓝绿藻丰度(CYANO)呈极显著正相关,与溶解氧(DO)呈显著负相关,与电导率(Cond.)呈正相关、与氮磷比(TN/TP)呈负相关;各湖区Chl.a与环境因子相关关系不同,全湖逐步线性回归方程为YChl.a=-21.42+8.658XpH-0.865XDO+0.779XNH3-N+0.699XTurbidity+0.502XCYANO;岱海不同湖区因子对Chl.a浓度的影响存在差异,各湖区Chl.a与环境因子相关关系不同,通过岱海与我国其他湖泊Chl.a与环境因子的相关性关系对比分析,湖泊地理属性差异及营养物质输入浓度是影响Chl.a变化的重要因素;本研究岱海的TN/TP平均值为12.23,说明夏季岱海湖Chl.a变化为氮磷共同限制。  相似文献

为了研究抚仙湖紫外辐射(UVR)和光合有效辐射(PAR)衰减的时空特征及其与有色可溶性有机物(CDOM)、悬浮物(SS)、浮游植物(叶绿素a表征)等因子的关系,于2014年10月(秋季)、2015年1月(冬季)开展现场调查,结果显示:秋季不同波长(段)的漫射衰减系数Kd(305)、Kd(340)和Kd(PAR)分别为1.27±0.12、0.68±0.11和0.32±0.13 m-1,冬季分别为1.13±0.10、0.63±0.07和0.36±0.07 m-1;秋季CDOM的不同波长吸收系数ag(254)、ag(305)和ag(340)分别为4.09±0.26、1.18±0.09和0.57±0.05 m-1,冬季分别为2.95±0.24、0.61±0.11和0.11±0.07 m-1,秋季ag(254)、ag(305)和ag(340)显著高于冬季;秋季Kd(305)显著大于冬季,这与秋季(雨季)较高的CDOM丰度、浮游植物生物量(及SS浓度)有关.秋季ag(305)/Kd(305)、ag(340)/Kd(340)均显著高于冬季;秋季及秋冬季整体而言,ag(254)与Kd(305)、Kd(340)呈显著正相关,各多元逐步回归方程中均包含ag(254),说明CDOM吸收对UVR的衰减有重要贡献.空间差异方面,秋季北部的ag(254)、Kd(305)和Kd(340)显著高于南部,冬季南北部无明显差异,或与雨旱季北岸河流输入的CDOM和SS的情况有关.此外,浮游植物对UV-B衰减的影响和SS(与CDOM的交互作用)对UV-A衰减的影响更在于季节变化方面,而影响UVR、PAR衰减的各因子的相对贡献有待进一步量化.  相似文献

Velekin and Bulgakov (1967) in an interesting model experiment while studying the transient electromagnetic response of a conductive sphere placed below a thin conductive sheet found that at the earlier stages of the transience, the composite system response corresponded to the response due to the overlying sheet alone and at the later stages, it corresponded to that of the sphere alone. To examine whether such a separation of responses due to individual components can be analytically studied and applied to other source configurations, we have analyzed an idealized model consisting of two spherical shells. We find that in corroboration with the above results, the general nature of the curve consists of two humps representing the responses dominated by the outer shell and the inner shell respectively. In addition, however, we find that the two humps gradually disappear to yield a smooth decay curve for increasing values of the ratio σd1b2d2a (where σ1, σ2 are the conductivities, d1, d2 are the thicknesses of the outer and inner shells respectively, and b and a are their respective distances from the centre) and the effect of inner shell on the composite system response is considerably reduced.  相似文献

An outdoor experiment testing the effect of water flea (Daphnia longispina) and zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) on physical and chemical water parameters and chlorophyll concentration changes was carried out in 12 containers filled with 150 l of unfiltered water from a lowland reservoir. During the 11 weeks of the experiment, the following physical, chemical and biological measurements were recorded: temperature (°C), oxygen concentration (mg dm−3), pH, conductivity (S cm−1), concentration of phosphate phosphorus (PO4-P) and ammonia nitrogen (NH4-N) (g dm−3), total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) (g dm−3), phytoplankton community structure and chlorophyll a concentration (g dm−3). The amount of ammonia ions was the highest in the treatment with zooplankton, while phosphate ions reached the highest values in treatments with zebra mussels. The results confirmed the ability of Daphnia to increase the NH4:PO4 ratio, whereas excretion from zebra mussels resulted in a decrease in both the N:P ratio (ranging from 9 to 13) and the NH4:PO4 ratio in water. In both treatments containing zebra mussels, P-rich water enabled sudden growth of Chlorophyta, resulting in blooms of Hydrodictyon reticulatum after 3–4 weeks of the experiment. Such phenomena were not observed in the control and Daphnia treatments. Our results indicate that zebra mussels, in contrast to Daphnia, may increase the symptoms of water eutrophication and contribute to blooms of expansive phytoplankton species.  相似文献

Abstract

We report results of three field campaigns conducted at 39 stations. At each station, we measured reflectance spectra in situ and collected water samples for measuring chlorophyll a (CHL) and suspended solids (SS) concentrations in the laboratory. To identify the indicative bands and develop suitable estimation models for CHL (C CHL) and SS (C SS) concentrations in Taihu Lake, a spectral-feature method and a derivative method were applied. The following conclusions were drawn: (a) the critical C CHL and C SS probably causing their spectral variation are, respectively: 0, 10, 50 and 75 μg L?1, and 0, 10, 50 and 100 mg L?1; (b) the derivative method is better than the spectral-feature method for estimating C CHL and C SS; (c) the optimal variable for CHL is a reflectance second-order derivative at 501 nm or a reflectance first-order derivative at 698 nm; the optimal variable for SS can change when its concentration is low and the range is narrow; otherwise, the optimal variable is a reflectance first-order derivative at 878 nm; and (d) the CHL and SS have an effect on one another's retrieval. The C CHL estimation accuracy would benefit from narrowing the C SS range. With C CHL increasing and its range broadening, the corresponding C SS estimation accuracy decreases gradually.  相似文献

The Food and Agriculture Organizations' (FAO) Penman–Monteith reference evapotranspiration (ET0) is a crucial index in the research of water and energy balance. Temporal and spatial variations in ET0 from 1981–2017 were investigated in the Hengduan Mountains, China. The results showed a change point around the year 2000 in ET0 series. ET0 decreased and increased significantly by +3.200 mm/year (p < 0.01) from 1981–2000 and by +4.109 mm/year (p < 0.01) from 2001–2017, respectively. The contribution analysis shows that the positive significant contribution of air temperature (TA) was offset by negative effects of decreases in downward shortwave radiation (Rs) and wind speed (WS) and an increase in actual vapour pressure (ea), causing the decrease in ET0 from 1981 to 2000. WS was the largest contributing factor for the decrease in ET0 from 1981 to 2000 during spring, winter and annually, while Rs and ea were the largest negative contributors in summer and autumn, respectively. An increase in TA was responsible for the increase in ET0 in all seasons except winter and the annual scale in 2001–2017. The sensitivity analysis shows that ET0 was most sensitive to TA, and WS was the least sensitive variable. The trends of ET0 increased with elevation; we denote this as the elevation-dependence of ET0 changes. The elevation-dependence was also noted for the trends of WS and ea, with higher elevations showing larger changes in WS and lower changes in ea. Besides, the sensitivities of TA, Rs and ea decreased with elevation, while that of WS increased slightly with elevation. A comprehensive investigation into the trends of climatic drivers and their sensitivities revealed complex trends of the contributions of climatic variables on ET0 with elevation, with no uniform trend existed in seasons. The results will contribute to our understanding of the response of ET0 to climate change in a mountainous area, and provide a guideline for the water resources management under climate change.  相似文献

Sustainable water management in semi-arid agriculture practices requires quantitative knowledge of water fluxes within the soil-vegetation-atmosphere system. Therefore, we used stable-isotope approaches to evaluate evaporation (Ea), transpiration (Ta), and groundwater recharge (R) at sites in Senegal's Groundnut basin and Ferlo Valley pasture region during the pre-monsoon, monsoon, and post-monsoon seasons of 2021. The approaches were based upon (i) the isothermal evaporation model (for quantifying Ea); (ii) water and isotope mass balances (to partition Ea and Ta for groundnut and pasture); and (iii) the piston displacement method (for estimating R). Ea losses derived from the isothermal evaporation model corresponded primarily to Stage II evaporation, and ranged from 0.02 to 0.09 mm d−1 in the Groundnut basin, versus 0.02–0.11 mm d−1 in Ferlo. At the groundnut site, Ea rates ranged from 0.01 to 0.69 mm d−1; Ta was in the range 0.55–2.29 mm d−1; and the Ta/ETa ratio was 74%–90%. At the pasture site, the ranges were 0.02–0.39 mm d−1 for Ea; 0.9–1.69 mm d−1 for Ta; and 62–90% for Ta/ETa. The ETa value derived for the groundnut site via the isotope approach was similar to those from eddy covariance measurements, and also to the results from the previous validated HYDRUS-1D model. However, the HYDRUS-1D model gave a lower Ta/ETa ratio (23.2%). The computed groundwater recharge for the groundnut site amounted to less than 2% of the local annual precipitation. Recommendations are made regarding protocols for preventing changes to isotopic compositions of water in samples that are collected in remote arid regions, but must be analysed days later. The article ends with suggestions for studies to follow up on evidence that local aquifers are being recharged via preferential pathways.  相似文献

A seismic trace recorded with suitable gain control can be treated as a stationary time series. Each trace, χj(t), from a set of traces, can be broken down into two stationary components: a signal sequence, αj(t) *s(t—τj), which correlates from trace to trace, and an incoherent noise sequence, nj(t), which does not correlate from trace to trace. The model for a seismic trace used in this paper is thus χj(t) =αj(t) * s(t—τj) +nj(t) where the signal wavelet αj(t), the lag (moveout) of the signal τj, and the noise sequence nj(t) can vary in any manner from trace to trace. Given this model, a method for estimating the power spectra of the signal and incoherent noise components on each trace is presented. The method requires the calculation of the multiple coherence function γj(f) of each trace. γj(f) is the fraction of the power on traced at frequency f that can be predicted in a least-square error sense from all other traces. It is related to the signal-to-noise power ratio ρj(f) by where Kj(f) can be computed and is in general close to 1.0. The theory leading to this relation is given in an Appendix. Particular attention is paid to the statistical distributions of all estimated quantities. The statistical behaviour of cross-spectral and coherence estimates is complicated by the presence of bias as well as random deviations. Straightforward methods for removing this bias and setting up confidence limits, based on the principle of maximum likelihood and the Goodman distribution for the sample multiple coherence, are described. Actual field records differ from the assumed model mainly in having more than one correctable component, components other than the required sequence of reflections being lumped together as correlated noise. When more than one correlatable component is present, the estimate for the signal power spectrum obtained by the multiple coherence method is approximately the sum of the power spectra of the correlatable components. A further practical drawback to estimating spectra from seismic data is the limited number of degrees of freedom available. Usually at least one second of stationary data on each trace is needed to estimate the signal spectrum with an accuracy of about 10%. Examples using synthetic data are presented to illustrate the method.  相似文献

— The first empirical duration magnitude (MD) formula is developed and tested for the Northern Morocco Seismic Network (NMSNET). This relationship is obtained by relating the IGN (Instituto Geografico National, Madrid) body-waves mbLgIGN to the duration (), and the epicentral distance (), at 25 analogue stations of the NMSNET for 479 earthquakes with 2.5 mb 5.4, from March 1992 to February 2001. MD estimates are significantly more precise while introducing a correction term for each of these stations, cStaj. The magnitude for the ith event (MD)i is the mean value of individual MDij=–0.14+1.63log10(ij)+0.031(ij)+cStaj. The cStaj corrections reduce considerably the local site effects which influence the recorded durations and cause stations to either overestimate, or underestimate MD up to 0.5 magnitude units. Average station MD residuals (–cStaj) are found to be independent of the distance from the epicenter to at least 10 degrees. It seems evident that regional geological features in the immediate behavior of stations have a systematic effect on the corresponding obtained residuals: older well-consolidated Precambrian crystalline rocks produce high negative residuals (shorter durations), younger unconsolidated sediments produce high positive residuals (longer durations), whereas, intermediate MD site residuals appear to be the result of the effect of various factors, principally age and state of consolidation of the bedrock, combined with the local tectonic.  相似文献

In the Tarim Basin, black shale series at the bottom of Cambrian is one of the important marine facies hydrocarbon source rocks. This research focuses on the analysis of the isotope of noble gas of 11 cherts. The R/R a ratio of chert in the Keping area is 0.032–0.319, and 40Ar/36Ar is 338–430. In Quruqtagh the R/R a ratio is 0.44–10.21, and 40Ar/36Ar is 360–765. The R/R a ratio of chert increases with 40Ar/36Ar from the west to the east accordingly. They have evolved from the crust source area to the mantle source area in a direct proportion. Surplus argon 40ArE in chert is in direct proportion to the R/R a ratio, indicating that it has the same origin of excess argon as in fluid and mantle source helium. Comparison of the R/R a ratios between the west and the east shows that the chert in the eastern part formed from the activity system of the bottom hydrothermal venting driven by the mantle source, where the material and energy of crust and mantle had a strong interaction in exchange; whereas in the western part, chert deposited from the floating of hydrothermal plume undersea bottom, which is far away from the centre of activities of the hydrothermal fluid of ocean bottom. In addition, from noble gas isotope composition of chert, it is suggested that the ocean anoxia incident happened at the black shale of the Cambrian bottom probably because of the large-scaled ocean volcanoes and the following hydrothermal activities.

以编制《中国地震动参数区划图》时所构建的地震潜在震源区模型和地震活动性模型为基本输入,在四川省丹棱县及其周缘地区开展基于阿里亚斯烈度的概率地震危险性分析,计算50年超越概率10%的阿里亚斯烈度(Arias Intensity,Ia)。结果表明:丹棱县及其周缘绝大部分地区的Ia值都在0.11m/s以上,部分地区在0.32m/s甚至0.54m/s以上,具有较高的地震诱发滑坡风险,应当加强人员密集区的地震诱发滑坡危险性评估。根据不同Ia预测方程计算得到的Ia分布有较大差异,因此在计算Ia时应考虑多个Ia预测方程,对最终结果进行加权平均,以减小Ia结果的不确定性。同时还发现Ia值与1.0s的谱加速度具有很好的相关性,这也印证了Ia和1.0s谱加速度与砂土液化的相关性。  相似文献

The effective relative dielectric constant ?e, r and the effective conductivity σe have each been determined as a function of frequency in the range 1–3000 MHz at volumetric water contents of up to approximately 0.74 for clays, 0.83 for a peat and 0.56 for a silt. At frequencies above about 25 MHz (depending on soil type), ?e, rincreases with water content for all samples. However, at lower frequencies, ?e, ronly increases with water content as long as the wet density also increases, which is the case for water contents up to a critical value lying between 0.35 and 0.48. At higher water contents, ?e, rand the wet density decrease with increasing water content. Consequently, curves of ?e, rversus frequency for two wet samples with different water contents, at least one of them higher than the critical value, are seen to cross at about 25 MHz. Below the critical value the curve of the sample with the lower water content is below the other curve at all freqencies applied. At a given frequency, σe has a maximum as a function of water content. This is tentatively explained by assuming that σe is the sum of pore water conductivity (increasing with water content until all salts in the soil are dissolved into the water and then decreasing) and surface water conductivity (increasing with wet density and therefore increasing with water content up to the critical value and then decreasing). At frequencies higher than 1000 MHz, ?e, rdepends only weakly on salinity (which is represented by the measured conductivity). It shows an increasing dependence if the frequency is decreased towards 1 MHz. The highest values of ?e, rand σe, measured in this work, occur for a sample of wet, nearly saturated silt originating from a location below sea-level near to the Dead Sea, Israel: ?e, rdecreases continuously from a value of about 104 at 3 MHz to about 102 at 200 MHz, while σe rises from about 4 S/m to 5 S/m at these respective frequencies. The dependence of the wavelength on the loss-tangent is strong and the wavelength is considerably smaller than it would be in a dielectric. This is the only sample for which σe increases with water content, even if the latter is above its critical value. Therefore it is assumed that the pore water conductivity is greater than the surface water conductivity if the volumetric water content is lower than 0.564, the maximum value applied. The measurements give evidence for the presence of a relaxation at about 3 MHz for all samples examined.  相似文献

The temperature gradient along the altitude transect of Mt.Jianfengling provides a good opportunity to establish and evaluate the microbial lipid-based environmental proxies.The soils collected from 14 different altitudes of Mt.Jianfengling contain abundant microbial fatty acids and fatty alcohols,including iso/anteiso fatty acids(i/aC12:0–i/aC19:0),10-Me-C16:0 fatty acid,iso/anteiso fatty alcohols(i/aC13–iC26),10-Me-C16:0 fatty alcohol and unsaturated fatty alcohols,which can indicate a strong microbial activity in the Jianfengling soils.The branched and unsaturated fatty alcohols can be only detected when saponification is performed,implying that these lipids are present as the constituents of bacterial wax esters in the soils.The ratio of aC15/iC15 fatty acids is positively correlated with altitude,suggesting that the decrease in temperature can induce the increase in the relative abundance of anteiso C15 fatty acid.In contrast,the ratio of aC15/iC15 fatty alcohols and of aC15/nC15 fatty alcohols both decrease with increased altitude or decreased temperature.Similarly,the ratio of nC18:1/nC18:0 fatty alcohols also decreases with decreased temperature,which is opposite to the previous observation that unsaturation of fatty acids in microorganism increases in response to decreased temperature.Besides,the average chain length(ACL)of long chain fatty alcohols(C22–C30)from leaf waxes and carbon preference index(CPI)of all n-fatty alcohols are also significantly correlated with altitude or mean annual temperature,demonstrating their potential for paleoclimate reconstruction.The correlation of microbial fatty acids and alcohols as well as ACL and CPI of plant wax-derived fatty alcohols with altitude may provide novel ways to reconstruct paleotemperature and paleoaltimetry.  相似文献

Lake Atitlan, one of the most important lakes not only in Central America but in the whole world, is facing serious problems with increasing water pollution. Over the last several decades, the uncontrolled nutrient input into the lake has lead to high P levels and low N:P ratios, initiating cyanobacterial blooms. The first bloom occurred in December of 2008, followed by more extensive bloom in October 2009. The blooms are formed by cyanobacteria from the rare planktic Lyngbya hieronymusii/birgei/robusta complex. Based on the species morphology, the Atitlan population corresponds to L. robusta and this is the first case of reported bloom of this species worldwide. Remote sensing images documented that at the maximum bloom development, 40% of the 137 km2 of the lake area were covered by dense patches of Lyngbya, with the chlorophyll a concentration reaching over 100 μg L−1. The only toxins detected in the 2009 bloom were trace levels of cylindrospermopsin and saxitoxin with 12 and 58 ng g−1, respectively. The nitrogen fixation followed a pattern expected in non-heterocytous cyanobacteria, i.e., the nitrogenase activity was minimal during the day, while during the night the activity reached 2.2 nmol C2H4 μg Ch a−1 h−1. Delta 15N of −0.86‰ was well in the range given for nitrogen fixing organisms. The cell C, N and P content was 36.7%, 5.9% and 0.9%, respectively, resulting in the molar ratio of 105:14.4:1. A well designed and executed lake monitoring program, strict control of nutrient input into the lake, and public education are the necessary prerequisites for potential prevention of even more severe blooms than the one from 2009.  相似文献

The eddy covariance technique and the cuvette method were used to investigate water use efficiency in an irrigated winter wheat (Triticum asetivum L.)/summer maize (Zea mays L.) rotation system in the North China Plain. The results show that ecosystem water use efficiency (WUEe) changed diurnally and seasonally. Daily maximal WUEe appeared in the morning. WUEe generally peaked in late April in wheat field and in late July/early August in maize field. From 2003 to 2006, seasonal mean WUEe was 6.7–7.4 mg CO2 g−1 H2O for wheat and 8.4–12.1 mg CO2 g−1 H2O for maize. WUEe was much lower than canopy water use efficiency (WUEc) under small leaf area index (LAI) but very close to WUEc under large LAI. With the increase in LAI, WUEe enlarged rapidly under low LAI but slowly when LAI was higher than one. WUEe was greater on the cloudy days than on the sunny days. Under the same solar radiation, WUEe was higher in the morning than in the afternoon. The ratio of internal to ambient CO2 partial pressure (Ci/Ca) decreased significantly with the increase in photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) when PAR was lower than the critical values (around 500 and 1000 μmol m−2 s−1 for wheat and maize, respectively). Beyond critical PAR, Ci/Ca was approximately constant at 0.69 for wheat and 0.42 for maize. Therefore, when LAI and solar radiation was large enough, WUEe has negative correlation with vapor pressure deficit in both of irrigated wheat and maize fields.  相似文献

The parameters commonly considered to define climate are the mean annual precipitation and mean annual potential evapotranspiration. In this study an attempt has been made to develop a relationship between average drought frequency and the evapotranspiration/precipitation ratio for the arid, semi‐arid and subhumid climatic regions of India. The climatic regions are delineated using two climatic indices: namely (i) the ratio of mean annual precipitation (Pa) to global terrestrial mean annual precipitation (Pg), and (ii) the ratio of mean annual potential evapotranspiration (Ep) to mean annual precipitation (Pa). It was noted that the average drought frequency (i e., year?1.) decreases gradually from dry to wet regions. The return period varies from 2 to 3 years in the arid regions (12>Ep&sol;Pa≥5), 3 to 5 years in semi‐arid regions (5>Ep&sol;Pa≥2), and 5 to 8 years in sub‐humid regions (2>Ep&sol;Pa≥3&sol;4). Another relationship was developed between the average frequency of drought occurrence and the ratio of mean annual deficit to mean annual precipitation, (Ep?Pa)&sol;Pa. Magnetotelluric response is studied for an inhomogeneous medium having conductivity varying linearly with depth as σ(z) =σ1z. For a medium having conductivity increasing linearly with depth, the phase of the impedance approaches 60° at long periods and the apparent resistivity becomes log (ρa) = 2 log (1.36/α1/3) — 1/3 log (T'). The asymptote of log (ρa, T'→∞) when plotted against log (T') has a constant gradient —1/3 and has an intercept on the log (T') axis, which equals 6 log (1.36/α1/3). When a homogeneous layer with a moderate thickness overlies an inhomogeneous half-space, this layer does not affect the asymptote, but it affects the cut-off period and pushes this toward the long period direction. For a medium having conductivity decreasing linearly with depth, the impedance is equivalent to that of a Cagniard two-layer model; the intercept period related to the thickness is T'01(h2/2)2. Homogeneous multilayer approximations to an inhomogeneous layer are also investigated, and it is shown that the fit to the model variation depends on the number of layers and the layer parameters chosen.  相似文献

We have derived, evaluated, and compared two empirical methods for computing duration magnitude M D from 25 short-period vertical component stations of the Northern Morocco Seismic Network (NMSN). M D has been scaled to IGN (Insituto Geograpfico National, Spain) body-wave magnitude (mb IGN ), using a set of 479 shallow (less than 30 km) earthquakes recorded from March 1992 to February 2001, with 2.5 ≤ mb IGN ≤ 5.4. In the first approach: Individual Network Calibration, we determined an individual M D formula for each station. In the second approach: Global Network Calibration, we used a single relationship to compute M Dij (from the jth observation for the i-th earthquake) magnitudes at 25 selected stations as: M Dij = − 0.14 +1.63 log10 ij )+0.031(Δij)+cSta j . Residuals (M Dij − mb IGN ) for both techniques were thereafter deduced. Comparison between the two approaches provided the principal results: (1) The mean correlation between estimated magnitude; M Dij and reference magnitude; mb IGN is about 89.9% for the individual calibration method, and near 95% for global calibration method in which station corrections cSta j were introduced, (2) Residuals (M Dij − mb IGN ) are relatively large, and are ranging between − 0.60 and 0.60 magnitude units, for the individual calibration method, whereas they vary in the range − 0.38 to 0.40, for the global calibration method with corrections; cSta j . (3) A random distribution of residuals (M Dij − mb IGN ) is observed for each station in the case of the individual approach. Thus, the resulting average of these residuals is almost equal to zero. Using a global calibration without corrections results in negative residuals for a group stations and positive residuals for another an group indicating respectively that sites corresponding to these groups have a tendency to underestimate, or overestimate observed magnitude values.  相似文献
