In this paper we discuss the properties of the quasi-steady state cosmological model (QSSC) developed in 1993 in its role as a cyclic model of the universe driven by a negative energy scalar field. We discuss the origin of such a scalar field in the primary creation process first described by F. Hoyle & J. V. Narlikar forty years ago. It is shown that the creation processes which take place in the nuclei of galaxies are closely linked to the high energy and explosive phenomena, which are commonly observed in galaxies at all redshifts. The cyclic nature of the universe provides a natural link between the places of origin of the microwave background radiation (arising in hydrogen burning in stars), and the origin of the lightest nuclei (H, D, He3 and He4). It also allows us to relate the large scale cyclic properties of the universe to events taking place in the nuclei of galaxies. Observational evidence shows that ejection of matter and energy from these centers in the form of compact objects, gas and relativistic particles is responsible for the population of quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) and gamma-ray burst sources in the universe. In the later parts of the paper we briefly discuss the major unsolved problems of this integrated cosmological and cosmogonical scheme — the understanding of the origin of the intrinsic redshifts, and the periodicities in the redshift distribution of the QSOs.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a cosmological application of the new agegraphic dark energy density in the f(R) gravity framework. We employ the new agegraphic model of dark energy to obtain the equation of state for the new agegraphic energy density in a spatially flat universe. Our calculations show, taking n<0, that it is possible to have w Λ crossing −1. This implies that one can generate a phantom-like equation of state from a new agegraphic dark energy model in a flat universe in the modified gravity cosmology framework. Also, we develop a reconstruction scheme for the modified gravity with f(R) action.  相似文献

We investigate plane symmetric spacetime filled with perfect fluid in the C-field cosmology of Hoyle and Narlikar. A new class of exact solutions has been obtained by considering the creation field C as a function of time only. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the rate of creation of matter-energy density is proportional to the strength of the existing C-field energy density. Several physical aspects and geometrical properties of the models are discussed in detail, especially showing that some of our solutions of C-field cosmology are free from singularity in contrast to the Big Bang cosmology. A comparative study has been carried out between two models, one singular and the other nonsingular, by contrasting the behaviour of the physical parameters. We note that the model in a unique way represents both the features of the accelerating as well as decelerating universe depending on the parameters and thus seems to provide glimpses of the oscillating or cyclic model of the universe without invoking any other agent or theory in allowing cyclicity.  相似文献

Due to the Hubble redshift, photon energy, chiefly in the form of CMBR photons, is currently disappearing from the universe at the rate of nearly 1055 erg s−1. An ongoing problem in cosmology concerns the fate of this energy. In one interpretation it is irretrievably lost, i.e., energy is not conserved on the cosmic scale. Here we consider a different possibility which retains universal energy conservation. Treating gravitational potential energy conventionally as ‘negative’, it has earlier been proposed that the Hubble shift flips positive energy (photons) to negative energy (gravitons) and vice versa. The lost photon energy would thus be directed towards gravitation, making gravitational energy wells more negative. Conversely, within astrophysical bodies, the flipping of gravitons to photons would give rise to a ‘Hubble luminosity’ of magnitude −UH 0, where U is the internal gravitational potential energy of the object. Preliminary evidence of such an energy release is presented in bodies ranging from planets, white dwarfs and neutron stars to supermassive black holes and the visible universe.  相似文献

Almost all astronomers now believe that the Hubble recession law was directly inferred from astronomical observations. It turns out that this common belief is completely false. Those models advocating the idea of an expanding universe are ill-founded on observational grounds. This means that the Hubble recession law is really a working hypothesis. One alternative to the Hubble recession law is the tired-light hypothesis originally proposed by Zwicky (Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. 15:773, 1929). This hypothesis leads to a universe that is an eternal cosmos continually evolving without beginning or end. Such a universe exists in a dynamical state of virial equilibrium. Observational studies of the redshift-magnitude relation for Type Ia supernovae in distant galaxies might provide the best observational test for a tired-light cosmology. The present study shows that the model Hubble diagram for a tired-light cosmology gives good agreement with the supernovae data for redshifts in the range 0<z<2. This observational test of a static cosmology shows that the real universe is not necessarily undergoing expansion nor acceleration. An erratum to this article can be found at  相似文献

A theory is described which produces continuous creation by adapting that of Brans-Dicke. The universe is seen to be created out of the zero point energy field by self-contained gravitational, scalar, and matter fields. The theory is conformally equivalent to General Relativity in vacuo. Both the Jordan and the Einstein frames are physical and they conserve energy and four-momentum respectively. The conformal equivalence has the consequence that predictions of the theory in solar system experiments are identical with General Relativity, but definitive experiments exist which distinguish between the two theories. The cosmological solution yields a linear expansion with a dynamical density parameter Omega of anda cold matter density parameter of , but the universe is closed. The theory is free of the horizon, smoothness and density problems of GR and therefore does not need Inflation. It does however require an exotic equation of state with negative pressure and it is suggested that this is provided by a false vacuum or zero point energy determined, and there forelimited by, its field equations thereby overcoming the ‘lambda problem’. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In this paper, the generalized second law (GSL) of thermodynamics and entropy is revisited in the context of cosmological models with bouncing behavior such as chameleon cosmology where the boundary of the universe is assumed to be enclosed by the dynamical apparent horizon. From a thermodynamic point of view, to link between thermodynamic and geometric parameters in cosmological models, we introduce “entropy rate of change multiplied by the temperature” as a model independent thermodynamic state parameter together with the well known {r,s} statefinder to differentiate the dark energy models.  相似文献

In this communication, we studied the aspects of bulk viscous fluid cosmological model with quadratic equation of state in the presence of strings loaded with particles in a higher dimensional (5- dimensional) Bianchi type-III geometry in Lyra’s Manifold (Lyra, 1951). Using physically plausible circumstances, an exact model of the universe is presented by obtaining the solutions of the Einstein’s field equations. Important geometrical and dynamical parameters of the model universes are premeditated and physical significance regarding their prospect in modern cosmology are discussed in details. Interestingly it is seen that both bulk viscosity and quadratic equation of state are acting crucial jobs throughout the evolution of the model which is expanding with acceleration so it represents dark energy model universe. Hence our model can be thought as a realistic universe.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider conservation equation in cosmology and propose four possible forms of space-times for universe resulting from dual symmetry between scale factor and energy density in the universe with constant equation of state. We start to describe these four possible types of space-times for universe and it’s possible consequences. Due to the uniformity of the metric signature in Euclidean space-time, for the first  time, we introduce a new symmetry for Euclidean space-time and consider it as a transition unstable state between the visible 4D universe and the invisible world with an extra dimension. Finally, we schematically represent these four possible space-times in a unique scenario for the universe.  相似文献

Both dark energy and the thermodynamics on apparent horizon in cosmology have been broadly investigated in recent several years. In order to maintain the continuity equation of the total matter in the universe, a new interacting dark energy in the framework of Brans-Dicke theory is proposed. Considering this new interacting dark energy, an equilibrium thermodynamics in Brans-Dicke theory is constructed successfully. Moreover, this new interacting dark energy can be regarded as arising from the “Holographic Dark Energy” models.  相似文献

We study a gravitational model in which scale transformations play the key role in obtaining dynamical G and Λ. We take a non-scale invariant gravitational action with a cosmological constant and a gravitational coupling constant. Then, by a scale transformation, through a dilaton field, we obtain a new action containing cosmological and gravitational coupling terms which are dynamically dependent on the dilaton field with Higgs type potential. The vacuum expectation value of this dilaton field, through spontaneous symmetry breaking on the basis of anthropic principle, determines the time variations of G and Λ. The relevance of these time variations to the current acceleration of the universe, coincidence problem, Mach’s cosmological coincidence and those problems of standard cosmology addressed by inflationary models, are discussed. The current acceleration of the universe is shown to be a result of phase transition from radiation toward matter dominated eras. No real coincidence problem between matter and vacuum energy densities exists in this model and this apparent coincidence together with Mach’s cosmological coincidence are shown to be simple consequences of a new kind of scale factor dependence of the energy momentum density as ρa −4. This model also provides the possibility for a super fast expansion of the scale factor at very early universe by introducing exotic type matter like cosmic strings.  相似文献

The most recently celebrated cosmological implications of the cosmic microwave background studies with WMAP (2006), though fascinating by themselves, do, however, create some extremely hard conceptual challenges for the present‐day cosmology. These recent extremely refined WMAP observations seem to reflect a universe which was extremely homogeneous at the recombination age and thus is obviously causally closed at the time of the cosmic recombination era. From the very tiny fluctuations apparent at this early epoch the presently observable nonlinear cosmic density structures can, however, only have grown up, if in addition to a mysteriously high percentage of dark matter an even higher percentage of dark energy is admitted as drivers of the cosmic evolution. The required dark energy density, on the other hand, is nevertheless 120 orders of magnitude smaller then the theoretically calculated value. These are outstanding problems of present day cosmology onto which we are looking here under new auspices. We shall investigate in the following, up to what degree a universe simply abolishes all these outstanding problems in case it reveals itself as an universe of constant total energy. As we shall show basic questions like: How could the gigantic mass of the universe of about 1080 proton masses at all become created? – Why is the presently recognized and obviously indispensable cosmic vacuum energy density so terribly much smaller than is expected from quantum theoretical considerations, but nevertheless terribly important for the cosmic evolution? – Why is the universe within its world horizon a causally closed system? –, can perhaps simply be answered, when the assumption is made that the universe has a constant total energy with the consequence that the total mass density of the universe (matter and vacuum) scales with . Such a scaling of matter and vacuum energy abolishes the horizon problem, and the cosmic vacuum energy density can easily be reconciled with its theoretical expectation values. In this model the mass of the universe increases linearly with the world extension Ru and can grow up from a Planck mass as a vacuum fluctuation. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The mysterious ‘dark energy’ needed to explain the current observations, poses a serious confrontation between fundamental physics and cosmology. The present crisis may be an outcome of the (so far untested) prediction of the general theory of relativity that the pressure of the matter source also gravitates. In this view, a theoretical analysis reveals some surprising inconsistencies and paradoxes faced by the energy-stress tensor (in the presence of pressure) which is used to model the matter content of the universe, including dark energy.   相似文献

Specific dark energy models with linear inhomogeneous time-dependent equation of state, within the framework of 4d Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology, are investigated. It is demonstrated that the choice of such 4d inhomogeneous fluid models may lead to a brane FRW cosmology without any explicit account of higher dimensions at all. Effectively, we thus obtain a brane dark energy universe without introducing the brane concept explicitly. Several examples of brane Rip cosmology arising from 4d inhomogeneous dark fluid models are given.  相似文献

We investigate specific models for a dark energy universe leading to Quasi-Rip and Pseudo-Rip cosmologies. In the Quasi-Rip model the equation of state parameter w is less than ?1 in the first stage, but becomes larger than ?1 in the second stage. In the Pseudo-Rip model the Hubble parameter tends to a constant value in the remote future, although w is always less than ?1. Conditions for the appearance of the Quasi-Rip and the Pseudo-Rip in terms of the parameters in the equation of state are determined. Analogies with the theory of viscous cosmology are discussed.  相似文献
