We present two new luminous blue variable (LBV) candidate stars discovered in the M33 galaxy. We identified these stars as massive star candidates at the final stages of evolution, presumably with a notable interstellar extinction. The candidates were selected from the Massey et al. catalog based on the following criteria: emission in H α , V<18./m 5 and 0.m 35 < (B - V) < 1.m 2. The spectra of both stars reveal a broad and strong H α emission with extended wings (770 and 1000 kms−1). Based on the spectra we estimated the main parameters of the stars. Object N45901 has a bolometric luminosity log(L/L) = 6.0–6.2 with the value of interstellar extinction A V = 2.3 ± 0.1. The temperature of the star’s photosphere is estimated as T⋆ ∼ 13000–15000 K, its probable mass on the Zero Age Main Sequence is M∼ 60–80 M. The infrared excess in N 45901 corresponds to the emission of warm dust with the temperature Twarm ∼ 1000 K, and amounts to 0.1%of the bolometric luminosity. A comparison of stellar magnitude estimates from different catalogs points to the probable variability of the object N45901. Bolometric luminosity of the second object, N125093, is log(L/L) = 6.3 − 6.6, the value of interstellar extinction is A V = 2.75 ± 0.15. We estimate its photosphere’s temperature as T⋆∼ 13000–16000K, the initial mass as M ∼ 90–120 M. The infrared excess in N125093 amounts to 5–6% of the bolometric luminosity. Its spectral energy distribution reveals two thermal components with the temperatures Twarm ∼ 1000K and Tcold ∼ 480 K. The [Ca II] λλ7291, 7323 lines, observed in LBV-like stars Var A and N93351 in M33 are also present in the spectrum of N 125093. These lines indicate relatively recent gas eruptions and dust activity linked with them. High bolometric luminosity of these stars and broad H α emissions allow classifying the studied objects as LBV candidates.  相似文献

We analyze the properties of galaxy clusters in the region of the Leo supercluster using observational data from the SDSS and 2MASS catalogs. We have selected 14 galaxy clusters with a total dynamical mass of 1.77 × 1015 M in the supercluster region 130 by 60 Mpc in the plane of the sky (z ≃ 0.037). The composite luminosity function of the supercluster is described by a Schechter function with parameters that, within the error limits, correspond to field galaxies and does not differ from the luminosity function of the richer Ursa Major (UMa) supercluster for the same luminosity range (the bright end). The luminosity functions of early-type and late-type galaxies in Leo at the faint end are characterized by a sharp decrease (α = −0.60±0.08) and a steep increase (α = −1.44± 0.10) in the number of galaxies, respectively. In the virialized cluster regions, the fraction of early-type galaxies selected by the u-r color, bulge contribution, and concentration index among the galaxies brighter than M K * + 1 is, on average, 62%. This fraction is smaller than that in the UMa supercluster at a 2–3σ level. The near-infrared luminosities of galaxy clusters down to a fixed absolute magnitude correlate with their masses almost in the same way as for other samples of galaxy clusters (L 200,K M 2000.63±0.11)).  相似文献

A photometry in the V, R, I (Cousins) system has been performed for stars in the galaxy Cassiopeia 1. The resulting colour-agnitude (CM) diagram of Cas 1 reveals the existence of blue stars and the absence of red ones. From an analysis of the CM diagram of the galaxy it is concluded that Av = 4.0 mag, and the distance modulus (m – M)o = 24.5 mag, corresponding to a distance of 790 kpc. The visual magnitude of the galaxy is V = 14m.62 (Mv = −13m.8) and the colour index (V – R) = 0.89 mag. From the distance determination the galaxy Cassiopeia 1 is a member of the Local group.  相似文献

A quiescent filament was observed near the center of the disk (N5, W5) with the MSDP spectrograph of the 50 cm refractor of the Pic-du-Midi Observatory on June 17, 1986. We focus our study on the statistical moments of the Dopplershift,V 1, and the intensity,I 1, at the center of a chord of the Hα profile (±0.256 Å), versus the minimum intensityI 0. We use a statistical model simulating a numbern max of threads (of optical thicknessτ 0 and source functionS 0), seen over the chromosphere. The threadsj along the same line-of-sighti are identical except for the velocityv j (gaussian distributionv 0,σ v). We search for the best fit between the observed and simulated quantities:V 1,σ (V 1),I 1,σ(I 1), and the histogram of theI 0 values over the field of view. A good fit is obtained with: (a) threads characterized byτ 0 = 0.2,S 0 = 0.06 (unit of the continuum at disk center), mean upward velocityv 0 = 1.7 km s−1 and gaussian-type velocity distributionσ v = 3.5 km s−1. Other possible values ofτ 0 andσ v are discussed; (b) underlying chromosphere deduced from observed quiet Sun (outside the filament) by modifying the chromospheric velocities: additional mean upward velocity 0.7 km s−1, standard deviation reduced by a factorF c ∼ 0.7. The results are discussed in connection with the values deduced from prominence observations.  相似文献

The results of photometry and polarimetry of the R Coronae Borealis type stars and other interesting objects are given. The observation of the former objects are obtained at the light maximum or at a brightness lower by 2-3 mag. The polarization of R CrB stars at light maximum has interstellar origin. The absolute magnitude of V 854 Cen is estimated to Msvw = −3m, and for Y Mus it is Mv > −3m.7. ρ Cas has a variable polarization and is probably a giant (Mv ≅ 0m) rather than a supergiant. Many early stars in its surroundings are photometrically and polarimetrically variable. The protoplanetary star BD −0°3679 has a polarization with the Rayleigh component.  相似文献

Available data on the distances and radial velocities of galaxies are systematized in order to study the distribution of peculiar velocities in neighborhoods of the Local cosmic void lying in the direction of the Aquila and Hercules constellations. A sample of 1056 galaxies is used, with distances measured in terms of the luminosity of the tip of the red giant branch (TRGB), the luminosity of the cepheids, the luminosity of type 1a supernovae, surface brightness fluctuations (SBF), and the Tully-Fisher relation. The amplitude of the outflow velocity of the galaxies is found to be ∼300 km/s. The average number density of galaxies inside the void is roughly a factor of five lower than the average outside it. The Local void population is characterized by lower luminosities and later morphological types, with medians of M B = − 15m.7 and T=8 (Sdm), respectively.  相似文献

The peculiar galaxy NGC 4650 A (α=12h 42m. 1; = δ—40° 26′; 1950·0) has been studied by means of direct and spectral observations with the ESO 3·6-m telescope. It is interpreted as a prolate, elliptical galaxy surrounded by a warped ring of H II regions, dust and stars. The distance is 47 Mpc (H 0=55 km s−1 Mpc−1). The ring is seen nearly edge-on (inclination 85°) and it rotates. It has a diameter of about 21 kpc and is bluer than the elliptical galaxy for which the (M/L v) ratio is ∼12 in solar units. The observed configuration may be the result of interaction with the nearby galaxy, NGC 4650.  相似文献

TheUBV light curves obtained by Duerbeck (1975) andHa (wide) and Ha (narrow) light curves obtained by Chambliss & Davan (1987) of the detached eclipsing binary VV Orionis (VV Ori) were analysed using the Wilson-Devinney method fixing the two parametersT h (25,000 K) and q(0.4172), resulting in the following absolute elements:A = 13.605 ± 0.03 LR,R h = 5.03 ±0.03R , Rc = 2.43 ±0.02R ,M bol,h = -5.18 ± 0.11,M bol,c = -1.54 ± 0.06,m h =10.81 + 0.42m andm c = 4.51 ± 0.41m . The de-reddened colours obtained from applying the reddening corrections ofE(B-V) = 0m.05 andE(U-B) = O m .04, and the derived temperatures of the components, gave spectral types ofB 1.5V for the primary and 54-5V with anUV excess of 0 m ·3 for the secondary component. A comparison of the logL and logT e of the components with the observed ZAMS shows the primary component to be a little above and the secondary component to be a little below/or on the ZAMS. A comparison of the properties of the components of VV Ori and a few other detached systems with the normal stars in the logL, logR and logT e versus logm planes, indicated a need for either a readjustment of the scales of the above parameters or modifications in the theoretical models. From the position of the components on the evolutionary tracks of Pop I composition computed by Schaller et al. (1992) it is noticed that while the primary component of W Ori had slightly evolved along the main-sequence, its secondary is still unevolved. The age of VV Ori is found to be 10 ± 1 million years and it is at a distance of 368 ± 10 pc.  相似文献

The computational algorithm to determine the the proper motions of Zirconium stars on the basis of catalogues “Carte du Ciel” and on the recent photographic observations carried out with the 70cm Abastumani meniscus telescope is presented. It allowed to determine the proper motions of 288 stars in the region around α Per with a rms error of ± 0,004 arcsec/yr. Applying the method proper motions of 74 Zirconium stars and 146 control stars have been obtained. The error of proper motions obtained for the North Zone (δ > −2°) 109 AGK3 control stars is ± 0.006 arcsec/yr. On the basis of proper motins absolute magnitudes were separately calculated for the MCLPZS and LASZS. For the MCLPZS the average absolute visual magnitude at maximum, corresponding to the mean period of P = 350 days, equals −3ϕm.9. For the LASZS the mean absolute visual magnitude, corresponding to the apparent median ones equals −1ϕm.9. Low luminosity (Mv = −1ϕmϕ9) Zirconium stars escape rather far (at a distance of up to 2 kpc) to the South from the Galactic plane into the region l ∼ 240 – 260°, where its assumed to be a connection with the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) begins to appear. Low luminosity Zirconium stars are weakly correlated with position of the Galaxy spiral arms. The MCLPZS show a somewhat other distribution.  相似文献

We investigate the relative motion of three stars, ADS 7446, 9346, and 9701, based on long-term observations with the Pulkovo 26-inch refractor. The relative motion of all three stars shows a perturbation that could be produced by the gravitational influence of an invisible companion. For ADS 7446, we have determined the orbit of the photocenter with a period of 7.9 yr; the mass of the companion is more than 0.4M . For ADS 9346, we have determined the radial velocities of the components: −14.60 km s−1 for A and −13.94 km s−1 for B. For ADS 9346 and 9701, we have determined the dynamical parallaxes, 24 and 20 mas, respectively, which are larger than those in the Hipparcos catalog by 5 mas, and calculated the orbits by the apparent motion parameter (AMP) method. The new orbit of ADS 9346 is: a = 5″.2, P = 2035 yr, and e = 0.46 at the system’s mass M = 2.5M . The new orbits of ADS 9701 are: (a = 2″.9, P = 829 yr, e = 0.54, M = 4.3M ) and (a = 3″.8, P = 1157 yr, e = 0.53, M = 5.0M ).  相似文献

We review selected measurements of the galaxy luminosity function including the field, the local group, the local sphere, nearby clusters (Virgo, Coma and Fornax) and clusters in general. We conclude that, excluding the super-luminous cD and D galaxies, the overall cluster luminosity function is fully consistent with the field luminosity function over the magnitude range in common (–22 ≤ M B –5log h 0.68 ≤ –17). We find that only in the core regions of clusters (r ≤ 300 kpc) does the overall form of the luminosity function show significant variation. However when the luminosity function is subdivided by spectral type some further variations are seen. We argue that these results imply: substantial late infall, efficient star-formation suppression, and the confinement of mass-changing evolutionary processes to the core regions only. We report the results of study of the A1569 cluster (12 h 36m.3, +16°35′) and the neighboring A1589 cluster (12 h 41m.3, +18°34′), making up a pair (a supercluster) with a projected size of about 10Mpc. This study is done within the framework of our program for investigating the galaxy clusters with bimodal velocity distributions (i.e., clusters where the velocities of subsystems differ by more than Δcz ∼ 3000 km/s). In the A1569 cluster we have identified two subsystems: A1569A (cz = 20613 km/s) and A1569B (cz = 23783 km/s). These subsystems have the line-of-sight velocity dispersions of 484 km/s and 493 km/s, and dynamic masses within the R 200 radius equal to 1.8 × 1014 and 2.0 × 1014 M , respectively. We directly estimate the distances to these subsystems using three methods applied to earlytype galaxies: the Kormendy relation, photometric plane, and fundamental plane. To this end, we use the results of our observations made with the 1-m telescope of the SAO RAS and the data adopted from the SDSS DR7 catalog. We found that A1569 consists of two independent clusters. The A1569B cluster is located at the Hubble distance corresponding to its radial velocity. The A1569A cluster has a peculiar velocity of −1290 ± 630 km/s, which can be explained by the effect of the more massive A1589 cluster (with a mass of 7.9 × 1014 M ) and of the supercluster where it resides. In all the four bimodal clusters that we studied within the framework of our program, A1035, A1775, A1831, and A1569, the subsystems are independent clusters lying close to the Hubble relation between redshift and distance.  相似文献

We present the results of our infrared observations of WR 140 (=V1687 Cyg) in 2001–2010. Analysis of the observations has shown that the J brightness at maximum increased near the periastron by about 0 m .3; the M brightness increased by ∼2 m in less than 50 days. The minimum J brightness and the minimum L and M brightnesses were observed 550–600 and 1300–1400 days after the maximum, respectively. The JHKLM brightness minimum was observed in the range of orbital phases 0.7–0.9. The parameters of the primary O5 component of the binary have been estimated to be the following: R(O5) ≈ 24.7R , L(O5) ≈ 8 × 105 L , and M bol(O5) ≈ −10 m . At the infrared brightness minimum, T g ∼ 820–880 K, R g ≈ 2.6 × 105 R , the optical depth of the shell at 3.5 μm is ∼5.3 × 10−6, and its mass is ≈1.4 × 10−8 M . At the maximum, the corresponding parameters are ∼1300 K, 8.6 × 104 R , ∼2 × 10−4, and ∼6 × 10−8 M ; the mean rate of dust inflow (condensation) into the dust structure is ∼3.3 × 10−8 M yr−1. The mean escape velocity of the shell from the heating source is ∼103 km s−1 and the mean dispersal rate of the shell is ∼1.1 × 10−8 M yr−1.  相似文献

We investigate the formation by accretion of massive primordial protostars in the range 10 to 300 M . The high accretion rate used in the models (M = 4.4 x 10-3 M yr-1) causes the structure and evolution to differ significantly from those of both present-day protostars and primordial zero-age main sequence stars. The stellar surface is not visible throughout most of the main accretion phase, since a photosphere is formed in the in falling envelope. Significant nuclear burning does not take place until a protostellar mass of about 80 M . As the interior luminosity approaches the Eddington luminosity, the protostellar radius rapidly expands owing to the radiation pressure. Eventually, a final swelling occurs when the stellar mass reaches about 300 M . This expansion is likely to signal the end of the main accretion phase, thus setting an upper limit to the protostellar mass formed in these conditions. The relationship between the rotation curves for the galaxies and the distribution of mass and angular momentum within the galaxies is examined. The theory of angular momentum transfer is applied to the observed properties of the galaxies. The coupling between the dynamical mass of a spiral galaxy and its luminosity is studied. Most of the spiral galaxies in subclusters surrounding NGC 4889, NGC 4874, and NGC 4839 in the Coma cluster are galaxies that have lower luminosities, with MB fainter than −21m.5. These galaxies are characterized by a higher mass-to-luminosity ratio than that of the galaxies with higher luminosities MB brighter than −21m.5, which suggests the presence of a large fraction of dark matter in the spiral galaxies of the subclusters. The value of Hubble parameter (H0) is determined using the morphologically type dependent Ks-band Tully-Fisher Relation (K-TFR). The slope and zero point are determined using 36 calibrator galaxies with ScI morphology. Calibration distances are adopted from direct Cepheid distances, and group or companion distances derived with the Surface Brightness Fluctuation Method or Type Ia Supernova. It is found that a small morphological type effect is present in the K-TFR such that ScI galaxies are more luminous at a given rotational velocity than Sa/Sb galaxies and Sbc/Sc galaxies of later luminosity classes. Distances are determined to 16 galaxy clusters and 218 ScI galaxies with minimum distances of 40.0 Mpc. From the 16 galaxy clusters a weighted mean Hubble parameter of H0 = 84.2 ± 6 km s−1 Mpc−1 is found. From the 218 ScI galaxies a Hubble parameter of H0 = 83.4 ± 8 km s−1 Mpc−1 is found. When the zero point of K-TFR is corrected to account for recent results that find a Large Magellanic Cloud distance modulus of 18.39±0.05, a Hubble parameter of 88.0 ± 6 km s−1 Mpc−1 is found. Effects from Malmquist bias are shown to be negligible in this sample as galaxies are restricted to a minimum rotational velocity of 150 km s−1. It is also shown that the results of this study are negligibly affected by the adopted slope for the K-TFR, inclination binning, and distance binning. A comparison with the results of the Hubble Key Project (Freedman et al. 2001) is made. Discrepancies between the K-TFR distances and the HKP I-TFR distances are discussed. Implications for Λ-CDM cosmology are considered with H0 = 84 km s−1 Mpc−1. It is concluded that it is very difficult to reconcile the value of H0 found in this study with ages of the oldest globular clusters and matter density of the universe derived from galaxy clusters in the context of Λ-CDM cosmology.  相似文献

We analyze the three-dimensional kinematics of about 82 000 Tycho-2 stars belonging to the red giant clump (RGC). First, based on all of the currently available data, we have determined new, most probable components of the residual rotation vector of the optical realization of the ICRS/HIPPARCOS system relative to an inertial frame of reference, (ω x , ω y , ω z ) = (−0.11, 0.24, −0.52) ± (0.14, 0.10, 0.16) mas yr−1. The stellar proper motions in the form μα cos δ have then be corrected by applying the correction ω z = −0.52 mas yr−1. We show that, apart from their involvement in the general Galactic rotation described by the Oort constants A = 15.82 ± 0.21 km s−1 kpc−1 and B = −10.87 ± 0.15 km s−1 kpc−1, the RGC stars have kinematic peculiarities in the Galactic yz plane related to the kinematics of the warped stellar-gaseous Galactic disk. We show that the parameters of the linear Ogorodnikov-Milne model that describe the kinematics of RGC stars in the zx plane do not differ significantly from zero. The situation in the yz plane is different. For example, the component of the solid-body rotation vector of the local solar neighborhood around the Galactic x axis is M 32 = −2.6 ± 0.2 km s−1 kpc−1. Two parameters of the deformation tensor in this plane, namely M 23+ = 1.0 ± 0.2 km s−1 kpc−1 and M 33M 22 = −1.3 ± 0.4 km s−1 kpc−1, also differ significantly from zero. On the whole, the kinematics of the warped stellar-gaseous Galactic disk in the local solar neighborhood can be described as a rotation around the Galactic x axis (close to the line of nodes of this structure) with an angular velocity −3.1 ± 0.5 km s−1 kpc−1 ≤ ΩW ≤ −4.4 ± 0.5 km s−1 kpc−1.  相似文献

The mass distribution for the galaxy cluster Abell 2744 (z = 0.308) is investigated on the base of the archival X-ray data of the Chandra observatory. The temperature of the hot gas in the cluster (kT = 9.82−0.41+0.43 keV) and the cluster total mass (M 200 = 2.22−0.12+0.13 × 1015 M ) for the radius R 200 = 2.38−0.31+0.36 Mpc are estimated. The density and mass profiles for the intergalactic gas and dark matter are obtained. The fractions of the intergalactic gas and dark matter in the total mass of the cluster are 15.4−1.3+1.3% and 84.6−1.3+1.4%, respectively.  相似文献

The stability of strange dwarfs for quark cores with M 0core /M = 10−4, has been studied by calculating, in each individual case, a series of strange dwarfs with configurations in which 5 ⋅ 10−4, 10−3, 5 ⋅ 10−3, 10−2, 1.31 ⋅ 10−2, 1.6 ⋅ 10−2, 1.7 ⋅ 10−2, 2 ⋅ 10−2, ranges from the values in white dwarfs to ρ drip = 4.3 ⋅ 1011 g/cm3, at which free neutrons are produced in the crust. For the series with M 0core /M < 0.0131, stability is lost when ρ tr < ρ drip . For the series with M 0core /M > 0.0131, the equality ρ tr = ρ drip is reached before the strange dwarf attains its maximum mass. Although the frequency of the radial pulsations in the fundamental mode obeys ω02 > 0 for these configurations, they are unstable with respect to transitions into a strange star state with the same total number of baryons and a radius on the order of that of neutron stars. An energy on the order of the energy in a supernova explosion is released during these transitions. It is shown that the gravitational red shift of white and strange dwarfs are substantially different for low and limiting (high) masses.  相似文献

The Eridanus galaxies follow the well-known radio—FIR correlation. The majority (70%) of these galaxies have their star formation rates below that of the Milky Way. The galaxies that have a significant excess of radio emission are identified as low luminosity AGNs based on their radio morphologies obtained from the GMRT observations. There are no powerful AGNs (L 20cm > 1023 W Hz−1) in the group. The two most far-infrared and radio luminous galaxies in the group have optical and HI morphologies suggestive of recent tidal interactions. The Eridanus group also has two far-infrared luminous but radio-deficient galaxies. It is believed that these galaxies are observed within a few Myr of the onset of an intense star formation episode after being quiescent for at least a 100 Myr. The upper end of the radio luminosity distribution of the Eridanus galaxies (L 20cm ∼ 1022 W Hz−1) is consistent with that of the field galaxies, other groups, and late-type galaxies in nearby clusters.  相似文献
