We study the classical problem of two-dimensional motion of a particle in the field of a central force proportional to a real power of the distancer. for negative energy and (0, 2), each energy levelI h is foliated by the invariant toriI hc of constant angular momentumc and, by Liouville-Arnold's theorem, the flow on eachI hc is conjugated to a linear flow of rotation number h (c).A well-known result asserts that if we require h (c) to be rational for every value ofh andc, the, must be equal to one (Kepler's problem). In this paper we prove that for almost every (0, 2) h (c) is a non-constant continuous function ofc, for everyh<0. In particular, we deduce that motion under central potentials is generically non-periodic.Partially supported by CIRIT under grant No. EE88/2.  相似文献

In this paper, a technique of recursive analysis is developed for the integral transform A of the exponential integral functionsE n which is denoted as n (). The main result of this analysis enables us to establish a two-term recurrence formula for n (0) and a three-term recurrence formula for n (); 0. A computational algorithm based on these formulae is also constructed and its numerical results forn=2(1)25 are presented to 15-digit accuracy.  相似文献

In the previously published Parts I and II of the paper, the author has constructed a formal long-periodic solution for the case of 11 resonance in the restricted problem of three bodies to 0(m 3/2), wherem is the small mass parameter of the system. The time-dependencet(, ,m), where is the mean synodic longitude and is related to the Jacobi constant, has been expressed by ahyperelliptic integral. It is shown here that with the approximationm=0 in the integrand, the functiont(, , 0) can be expanded in a series involving standardelliptic functions. Then the problem of inversion can be formally solved, yielding the function (t, , 0).Similarly, the normalized period (,m) of the motion can be approximated by theHagihara hyperelliptic integral (, 0), corresponding tom=0. This integral is also expanded into elliptic functions. Asymptotic forms for (, 0) are derived for 0 and for 1, corresponding to the extreme members of thetadpole branch of the family of orbits.  相似文献

Equations for the chemical evolution of the Galaxy are derived, accounting for (i) the dynamical evolution of the Galaxy (i.e. the collapse of the proto-galaxy), and (ii) either a variable mass-spectrum in the birth-rate stellar function of the type (m, t)=(t)(m, t), or a constant mass-spectrum with variable lower mass limit for star birth:m mf=mmf(Z). Simple equations are adopted for the collapse of the proto-galaxy, accounting for the experimental data (i.e. axial ratio and major semi-axis) relative to the halo and to the disk, and best fitted for a rapid collapse; gas density is assumed to be always uniform. Numerical computations of several cases show that there is qualitative agreement with the experimental data relative to theZ(t) function when: (i) the mass-spectrum is nearly constant in time: (m, t)(m)=m –2.35; (ii) the efficiency (t) is sufficiently high; moreover, the super metallic effect (SME) takes place for greater than a given value (1.5); (iii) the shorter the collapse timeT c, the more rapid is the initial increase of metallicity, the asymptotic value being left nearly unaltered. The theoretical present-day values of gas density and metallicity so obtained differ from the experimental values by a factor of 2 or 3. Leaving aside other possible explanations, such a discrepancy is within the range of the uncertainties concerning the amount of gas returned back into space by the decay of the stars. Our theoretical results are not in complete agreement with the observed data bearing on theN n(Z) function (N n is the number of stars whose Main-Sequence lifetime is not less than the age of the Galaxy), while a hypothesis of star formation with different efficiencies in different zones of the Galaxy, and successive stellar mixing from zone to zone, is not inconsistent with such data.  相似文献

The Ideal Resonance Problem, defined by the HamiltonianF=B(y)+2A (y) sin2 x, 1, has been solved in Garfinkelet al. (1971). There the solution has beenregularized by means of a special function j , introduced into the new HamiltonianF, under the tacit assumption thatA anB¨' are of order unity. This assumption, violated in some applications of the theory, is replaced here by the weaker assumption ofnormality, which admits zeros ofA andB inshallow resonance. It is shown here that these zeros generate singularities, which can be suppressed if j is suitably redefined. With the modified j , and with the assumption of normality, the solution is regularized for all values ofB, B¨', andA. As in the previous paper, the solution isglobal, including asymptotically the classical limit withB as a divisor of O(1).A regularized first-order aloorithm is constructed here as an illustration and a check.Presented at the XXII International Congress of I.A.F., Brussels, Belgium, Sept. 20, 1971.  相似文献

The average rate of growth during the ascending portion of the sunspot cycle, defined here as the difference in smoothed sunspot number values between elapsed time (in months) t and sunspot minimum divided by t, is shown to correlate (r 0.78) with the size of the sunspot cycle, especially for t 18 months. Also, the maximum value of the average rate of growth is shown to highly correlate (r = 0.98) with the size of the cycle. Based on the first 18 months of the cycle, cycle 22 is projected to have an R(M) = 186.0 ± 27.2 (at the ± 1 level), and based on the first 24 months of the cycle, it is projected to have an R(M) = 201.0 ± 20.1 (at the ± 1 level). Presently, the average rate of growth is continuing to rise, having a value of about 4.5 at 24 months into the cycle, a value second only to that of cycle 19 (4.8 at t = 24 and a maximum value of 5.26 at t = 27). Using 4.5 as the maximum value of the average rate of growth for cycle 22, a lower limit can be estimated for R(M); namely R(M) for cycle 22 is estimated to be 164.0 (at the 97.5% level of confidence). Thus, these findings are consistent with the previous single variate predictions that project R(M) for cycle 22 to be one of the greatest on record, probably larger than cycle 21 (164.5) and near that of cycle 19 (201.3).  相似文献

On the basis of more abundant data a relation logPV/logR for cepheid variables (Fernie, 1965) is constructed. A linear relation between logP V and logR for classical cepheids is found, which perhaps has a break at R=10R . On the logR/logP diagram thes-cepheids (Efremov, 1968) show a distinct sequence. Alls-cepheids present a relative variation of the radii R/R0.075. The existence of non-s-cepheids with R/R0.075 raises a point about the evolutionary place of these stars (see Efremov, 1968). One could suppose that cepheids with logP>1.1 pulsate in the first overtone.  相似文献

In the first part a new index of solar activity in the photosphere is introduced i.e. the areas index I a defined with the help of the relation, where A and f are the total areas of the sunspots and faculae respectively corrected for foreshortening. In the second part a relation of the form: is proposed, where S represents the intensity of solar radio-emission in the frequency range 1000 f < 10000 MHz, i f is the index of solar flares, S 0o is the corresponding value of s for I a = 0 and K is a constant. In the third part a relation of the form: is proposed, where I 5303 is the mean intensity of the coronal line 5303 Å for each quarter of the years 1954–1964, n pf is the corresponding number of proton flares, I 0 is the value of I 5303 corresponding to I = 0 and K is a constant.  相似文献

As a consequence of the Taylor–Proudman balance, a balance between the pressure, Coriolis and buoyancy forces in the radial and latitudinal momentum equations (that is expected to be amply satisfied in the lower solar convection zone), the superadiabatic gradient is determined by the rotation law and by an unspecified function of r, say, S(r), where r is the radial coordinate. If the rotation law and S(r) are known, then the solution of the energy equation, performed in this paper in the framework of the ML formalism, leads to a knowledge of the Reynolds stresses, convective fluxes, and meridional motions. The ML-formalism is an extension of the mixing length theory to rotating convection zones, and the calculations also involve the azimuthal momentum equation, from which an expression for the meridional motions in terms of the Reynolds stresses can be derived. The meridional motions are expanded as U r(r,)=P 2(cos)2(r)/r 2+P 4(cos)4(r)/r 2 +..., and a corresponding equation for U (r,). Here is the polar angle, is the density, and P 2(cos), P 4(cos) are Legendre polynomials. A good approximation to the meridional motion is obtained by setting 4(r)=–H2(r) with H–1.6, a constant. The value of 2(r) is negative, i.e., the P 2 flow rises at the equator and sinks at the poles. For the value of H obtained in the numerical calculations, the meridional motions have a narrow countercell at the poles, and the convective flux has a relative maximum at the poles, a minimum at mid latitudes and a larger maximum at the equator. Both results are in agreement with the observations.  相似文献

A static relativistic theory of the stability of the equilibrium of an isentropic spherically-symmetric star is deduced from the properties of a functionu which is solution of a second-order differential equation, and which is related to the model by means of the formulau = m(v, c)/c, wherem is the mass-energy inside the coordinate volumev and c is the central mass-energy density.Work done in the Laboratorio Astrofisico di Frascati, Roma.  相似文献

The line and continuum intensities deduced from the multislit spectra of the (Fe X) coronal emission line taken at the 1980 eclipse are used to discuss the relative roles of radiative and collisional excitation mechanisms. It is shown that for R/R < 1.2, collisional excitation is the predominant mode. Collisional as well as radiative excitation is equally important for 1.2 < R/R < 1.4, whereas beyond 1.4 R radiative excitation becomes dominant. The line width measurements indicate that a large number of locations have half-widths around 1.3 Å. The maximum half-width is reached at 1.4 R with an average value of 1.6 Å.  相似文献

A new method for the detection of the circumstellar clouds around the hot stars of O-B classes is developed. The method is based on the fact, connected with the large dispersion in the observed equivalent widths,W *(2800 MgII) of non-stellar origin, for a selected group of stars withE(B-V)=0. The separation of observed magnitudes ofW(2800) in two components interstellarW i, and circumstellarW c is realised. It is shown that the circumstellar clouds really existed around 90% of hot stars analysed in the present paper (total number of stars 46, Table II). In 30% cases of hot stars circumstellar clouds are very powerful (the radii are less than 1pc, the masses less than 1 solar mass). The usual model for interstellar medium seems to be unacceptable for the system hot star+circumstellar cloud.  相似文献

The abundance of holmium (Z=67) in the Sun remains uncertain. The photospheric abundance, based on lines of Hoii, has been reported as + 0.26±0.16 (on the usual scale where log(H) = 12.00), while the meteoritic value is + 0.51±0.02. Cowan-code calculations have been undertaken to improve the partition function for this ion by including important contributions from unobserved levels arising from the (4f 116p+4f 10(5d+6s)2) group. Based on 6994 computed energy levels, the partition function for Hoii is 67.41 for a temperature of 6000 K. This is 1.5 times larger than the value derived from the 49 published levels. The new partition function alone leads to an increase in the solar abundance of Ho to log (Ho) =+ 0.43. This is within 0.08 dex of the meteoritic abundance. Support for this result has been obtained through LTE spectrum synthesis calculations of a previously unidentified weak line at 3416.38. Attributing the feature to Hoii, the observations may be fitted with log (Ho) =+ 0.53. This calculation assumes log (gf)=0.25 and is uncertain by at least 0.1 dex.  相似文献

The variation of radio luminosity with redshift and its effect on the analysis of the angular size-redshift (z) relation for a bright radio source sample (s 178 10Jy) has been investigated. By assuming a power law dependence of luminosity on redshift of the formP (1 +z), it was found that 4.4 (with correlation coefficientr 0.99) for at leastz 0.3. Correction for such a strongP – (1 +z) correlation when considering thez data for the sample led to a steeperz slope. This could be explained by assuming linear size evolution of the formD (1 +z)n withn = 2.8 – 3.3 consistent with both theoretical results and those obtained for more homogeneous source samples.  相似文献

This work contains a transformation of Hill-Brown differential equations for the coordinates of the satellite to a type which can be integrated in a literal form using an analytical programming language. The differential equation for the parallax of the satellite is also established. Its use facilitates the computation of Hill's periodic intermediary orbit of the satellite and provides a good check for the expansion of the coordinates and frequencies. The knowledge of the expansion of the parallax facilitates the formation of differential equations for terms with a given characteristic. These differential equations are put into a form which favors the solution by means of iteration on the computer. As in the classical theory we obtain the expansions of the coordinates and of the parallax in the form of trigonometric series in four arguments and in powers of the constants of integration. We expand the differential operators into series in squares of the constants of integration. Only the terms of order zero in these expansions are employed in the integration of the differential equations. The remaining terms are responsible for producing the cross-effects between the perturbations of different order. By applying the averaging operator to the right sides of the differential equations we deduce the expansion of the frequencies in powers of squares of the constants of integration.Basic Notations f the gravitational constant - E the mass of the planet - M the mass of the satellite - t dynamical time - x, y, z planetocentric coordinates of the satellite - u x+y–1 - s x–y–1 - the planetocentric distance of the satellite - w 1/ - 0 the variational part of - w 0 the variational part ofw, - n the mean daily sidereal motion of the satellite - a the mean semi-major axis of the satellite defined by means of the Kepler relation:a 3 n 2=f(E+M) - a the mean semi-major axis defined as the constant factor attached to the variational solution - e the constant of the eccentricity of the satellite - the sine of one half the orbital inclination of the satellite relative to the orbit of the sun - c(n–n) the anomalistic frequency of the satellite - c 0 the part ofc independent frome,e, and - g(n–n) the draconitic frequency of the satellite, - g 0 the part ofg independent frome,e, and - exp (n–n)t–1 - D d/d - e the eccentricity of the solar planetocentric orbit - a the semi-major axis of the solar orbit - n the mean daily motion of the sun in its orbit around the planet - m n/(n–n) - a/a-the parallactic factor - the disturbing function  相似文献

Cyclotron waves in the solar wind near 1 AU with frequencies well below the electron cyclotron frequency and wavelengths much larger than the electron cyclotron radius but less than the proton cyclotron radius are considered. The cyclotron radii are defined from parallel thermal velocity of electron component and proton component with respect to the interplanetary magnetic field. No LH cyclotron waves are found to propagate for p < 0, where p 1 –T p/T p is the temperature anisotropy of the proton component with respect to the interplanetary magnetic field. The damping or growth of RH cyclotron waves is found to depend on the frequency range and the temperature anisotropy of the proton component. The RH cyclotron waves are damped in the frequency range r | p | p for p < 0, where p is the proton cyclotron frequency. RH cyclotron instabilities occur in the frequency range | p | p > r > | p | p /(1– r ) for p < 0. The marginal state is at r =| p | p .Abstract presented at theInternational Symposium on Solar-Terrestrial, São Paulo, Brazil, 17–22 June, 1974  相似文献

The study of uniformly polytropes with axial symmetry is extended to include all rotational terms of order 4, where is the angular velocity, consistently within the first post-Newtonian approximation to general relativity. The equilibrium structure is determined by treating the effects of rotation and post-Newtonian gravitation as independent perturbations on the classical polytropic structure. The perturbation effects are characterized by a rotation parameter = 2/2G c and a relativity parameter, =p c / c C 2 , wherep c and c are the central pressure and density respectively. The solution to the structural problem is obtained by following Chandrasekhar's series expansion technique and is complete to the post-Newtonian rotation terms of order 2. The critical rotation parameterv c , which characterizes the configuration with maximum uniform rotation, is accurately evaluated as a function of . Numerical values for all the structural parameters needed to determine the equilibrium configurations are presented for polytropes with indicesn=1, 1.5, 2, 2 5, 3, and 3.5.  相似文献

For the case of closed Friedmann models with the cosmological constant, an N - dependence is plotted, whereN is the conformal time of existence of the Universe, and is the ratio of the cosmological constant to its Einstein's value. The observational properties of the asymptotic model of the first kind (the so-called Al model) corresponding to the maximum of this dependence are analyzed. For the matter-dominated models, the maximum is achieved at the point = 1. Formulae for the calculation of the age of the Universe and for that of the photometric distance in the Al model are deduced. The observational properties of the A1 model are compared to the corresponding properties of the standard cosmological model ( = 0) which does not occupy any special distinguished position on the N - diagram. It is shown that from the standpoint of the modern observational cosmology these two models cannot be told one from another. However, the A1 model has better standing from the viewpoint of the strong wordings of the anthropic cosmological principle.  相似文献

With a view to furthering the theory of the light changes of eclipsing variables, developed before systematically by Z. Kopal, this paper presents a number of new (and computable) expressions for the associated alpha-function n 0 ,(r1,r2,) (and also for its partial derivatives), where n 0 ,(r1,r2,) represents the fractional loss of light suffered by an eclipse of a circular disc of fractional radiusr 1 (and darkened at the limb to thenth degree) by an opaque disc of radiusr 2, with their centres separated by a fractional (projected) distance , provided that the transparency of the occulting disc increases with the angle of foreshortening in the same manner as the limb-darkening of the eclipsed star (that is, when the transparency functiong(, ) of the second aperture is given by Equation (4) below). Many of the explicit expressions derived here are valid for any type of eclipse, occultation or transit, regardless of whetherr 1>r 2 orr 1<r 2. and for any degreen of the adopted law of limb-darkening. It is also pointed out how some of the results obtained in this paper are related to the various representations given earlier in the literature for the case =0.  相似文献
