Historical optical BVRI band data are combined on the BL Lac object AO 0235 + 164. In order to examine the possible existence of lags and correlations between variations in different optical bands from this source, a statistical analysis is performed through the Discrete Correlation Function (DCF) method. Monte Carlo simulations called Flux Redistribution/Random Subset Selection (FR/RSS) are performed to obtain statistically meaningful values for the cross-correlation time lags and their related uncertainties. The analysis confirms that the variations in different optical light curves are strongly correlated, with no or very weak lag within the errors. Long term variability of color indices are also analysed. No color variabilities are found.  相似文献

The near-infrared data of the quasar 3C273 are collected from available literature and are used to analyze its variability properties. The largest amplitudes of variations are ΔJ = 1.0, ΔH = 0.9, and ΔK = 0.86. The color indices are JH = 0.82, JK = 1.96, and HK = 1.13. Analysis with the discrete correlation function (DCF) method indicates that the variability between any two infrared bands is correlated without any time lag. The relation between the color index and brightness is also investigated and the result indicates that the spectrum steepens when the source first dims, while it flattens after the source has dimmed to a some extent, suggesting that the emission of 3C 273 at near-IR consists of at least two components. We investigate the photometric and polarimetric behavior of the blazar S5 0716+714 based on the observations carried out in 1991–2004 at the 125-cm Crimean Astrophysical Observatory telescope (AZT11) with a photopolarimeter that allows simultaneous polarization and brightness measurements to be made in the U BV RI bands. We also provide the U BV photometry for the blazar obtained in 2000–2009 with a 60-cm telescope at the Crimean Station of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute. The pattern of flux variability and the correlation between the brightness, color, and polarization variations have been investigated. In this time interval the blazar showed a significant brightness and polarization variability similar to noise processes.  相似文献

PKS 2155-304 is a well studied BL Lac object in the southern sky. The historical optical data during different periods have been collected and compiled. Light curves spanning 35 yr have been constructed. The R-band light curve has been analyzed by means of three methods: the epoch folding method,the Jurkevich method and the discrete correlation function method. It is derived that there is an evident periodic component of 317 d(i.e. 0.87 yr) superposed on a long-term trend with largeamplitude variation in the light curve. The variability of this source is accompanied by a slight color variation,and the brightness and color index are correlated with each other. On a long-term time scale,PKS 2155-304 exhibits a tendency of bluer-whenbrighter,which means the spectrum becomes flatter when the source brightens.  相似文献

The long-term variabilities of PKS 0735+178 in UBV bands have been shown and discussed by means of the methods of period analysis and correlation analysis. The results show that there is a strong variation period of 14.42years in B band, the variations in optical UBV bands are closely correlated with no delay, and the spectral shape is associated with the brightness of the source. Time delay determinations in astrophysics are used most often to find time delays between flux density variations of different spectral bands and/or spectral lines in AGNs and different images of gravitationally lensed QSOs. Here we consider a new algorithm for a complex case, when the time delay is itself a linear function of time and the intensity of echo response is power function of the delay. We apply this method to investigate optical-to-radio delay in the double quasar 0957+561, which is a generally accepted case of gravitational lensing.Radio-optical correlation in QSO 0957+561 was first reported by Oknyanskij and Beskin (1993, hereafter OB) on the basis of radio observations made in the years 1979 to 1990. OB used an idea to take into account the known gravitational lensing time delay to get combined radio and optical light curves and then to use them for determination of the possible radio-from-optical time delay. It was found this way that radio variations (5 MHz) followed optical ones by about 6.4 years with high level of correlation (0.87). Using new radio data (Haarsmaet al., 1996), for the interval 1979–1994 we find nearly the same value for the optical-to-radio delay as has been found before. Additionally we suspect that the time delay value is linearly increasing at about 110 days per year while the portion of reradiated flux in the radioresponse is decreasing.Obtained results indicate that the optical and radio emitting regions are physically related, but have distinct size scales, locations and possibly radiation mechanisms. We conclude that the results can be explained by simple model were the variable radio source is ejected from the central part of the QSO compact component and that the changing time delay between the optical and radio light curves is consequence of light travel effect.  相似文献

利用多波段同时性观测数据,研究了Blazar天体的近红外波段偏振与光学波段偏振的关系,发现两个波段的偏振度和偏振角之间都存在着很强的线性相关性.另外,两个波段的辐射流量也强烈相关.结果表明Blazr天体的近红外辐射主要来自于相对论电子的同步辐射,且与光学波段辐射来自于同一辐射区域.另外,利用2MASS数据还研究了近红外波段3个色指数J-H、H-K和J-K之间的相关性,发现J-H和H-K都与J-K强相关,但J-H与H-K之间没有相关性.最后研究了色指数-星等关系,表明在近红外波段Blazar天体变亮时谱形变平.  相似文献

In this paper, the long-term ( about 20 years) near-infrared data have been compiled from the published literature for BL Lac object PKS 0735+178; The light curve in the infrared (JHK) bands have been presented; The maximum variations of Δ J=2m .47, Δ H=2m .30, and Δ K = 2m.40, and color indices of J- H=0.86 ± 0.11, J- K=1.71 ± 0.16, and H-K = 0.86 ± 0.12 have been obtained from the data. It is found that the spectrum changes with the brightness of the source in the infrared bands; The variations in the optical and infrared bands are found to be correlated suggesting that the emission mechanisms in the two bands are associated. We present our UBVRI photometry and spectroscopy of AS 338 performed in 1999–2000. Another eclipse of the hot component in this symbiotic binary system, the deepest one ever observed, occurred in September 1999. The U brightness declined by ~2m, the Hβflux decreased by a factor of ~2.3, and the [O III]γ5007 flux did not change. The hot component is eclipsed at orbital phases ?≈0.045–0.057. The U-B color index begins to appreciably fluctuate during an eclipse of the hot component and its circumstellar envelope. About 100 days after a strong outburst of 1995, the mean UBV brightness of AS 338 declined linearly in the ensuing five years at the same rate in all bands (ΔUt≈10?3 mag/day). The brightness of the outer, uneclipsed parts of the circumstellar envelope also decreased, which is attributable to a reduction in the luminosity of the hot component against the rise in its temperature. The appearance of He II lines has not yet been recorded, though the optical brightness of AS 338 has already dropped by ~2m after the outburst.  相似文献

We present the results of our multicolor UBV RI observations of NGC 7469, a type 1 Seyfert galaxy (SyG 1), in 2008–2014 at the Maidanak Observatory. Analysis of the long-term variability of NGC 7469 for two observing periods, 1990–2007 and 2008–2014, has shown the existence of yet another activity cycle of the slow component in 2009–2014 with an activity maximum in 2011–2012. We have studied the slow variability component in 2009–2014 and constructed the color–color (U ? B), (B ? V) diagrams for the variability maxima and minima of NGC 7469 in various apertures and for the blackbody gas radiation modeling the accretion disk radiation. It can be seen from the color–color diagram that the color of the nuclear part of NGC 7469 becomes bluer at maximum brightness, suggesting a higher temperature of the accretion disk. We have analyzed the X-ray variability of NGC 7469 in 2008 and 2009 in comparison with the activity minimum in 2003. The optical–X ray correlation coefficient in 2008 is close to 0.5. The weak correlation is explained by the influence of an SN 1a explosion in the circumnuclear part of NGC 7469, which manifests itself in the optical band but does not change the pattern of X-ray variability. Comparison of the variability data for 2009 shows an optical–X ray (U band–7–10 keV) correlation with a correlation coefficient of about 0.93. The correlation coefficient and the lag depend on the wavelength in the optical and X-ray bands. The lag between the X-ray and optical fluxes in 2009 is observed to a lesser extent in 2003.  相似文献

We have used optical V and R band observations from the Massive Compact Halo Object(MACHO) project on a sample of 59 quasars behind the Magellanic clouds to study their long term optical flux and colour variations. These quasars, lying in the redshift range of 0.2 z 2.8 and having apparent V band magnitudes between 16.6 and 20.1 mag, have observations ranging from 49 to 1353 epochs spanning over 7.5 yr with frequency of sampling between 2 to 10 days. All the quasars show variability during the observing period. The normalised excess variance(Fvar) in V and R bands are in the range 0.2% FV var 1.6% and 0.1% FR var 1.5% respectively. In a large fraction of the sources, Fvaris larger in the V band compared to the R band. From the z-transformed discrete cross-correlation function analysis, we find that there is no lag between the V and R band variations. Adopting the Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC) approach, and properly taking into account the correlation between the errors in colours and magnitudes, it is found that the majority of sources show a bluer when brighter trend, while a minor fraction of quasars show the opposite behaviour. This is similar to the results obtained from another two independent algorithms, namely the weighted linear least squares fit(FITEXY) and the bivariate correlated errors and intrinsic scatter regression(BCES). However, the ordinary least squares(OLS) fit, normally used in the colour variability studies of quasars, indicates that all the quasars studied here show a bluer when brighter trend. It is therefore very clear that the OLS algorithm cannot be used for the study of colour variability in quasars.  相似文献

$$UBVJHKLM$$ photometry for the carbon Mira star V CrB are presented. The infrared observations were carried out in the time interval 1989–2018, while the $$U$$, $$B$$, and $$V$$ data were obtained in 2001–2014. The light and color curves are analyzed. The pulsation period of V CrB has been found to be $$355\overset{\textrm{d}}{.}2$$ in the infrared $$JHKLM$$ bands and $$352^{\textrm{d}}$$ for the optical $$BV$$ band. In the $$JHK$$ bands, apart from periodic pulsations, there are distinct sinusoidal variations in the average brightness level with a characteristic period of $${\sim}8300$$ days. Color–magnitude relationships have been revealed for the infrared and optical bands. The phase curves exhibit the wavelength dependence of the brightness variability amplitude. The light curves for various bands and colors are discussed. We have constructed the model of a spherically symmetric circumstellar dust envelope that allows the observed spectral energy distribution at both maximum and minimum light to be reproduced equally well (within the model assumptions) and is consistent with the observations of V CrB by differential speckle polarimetry. The model is characterized by the following parameters: the optical depth is $$\tau_{K}=0.33$$, the inner and outer radii of the envelope are 8 and 40 000 AU, respectively. The envelope contains spherical carbon dust grains ($$3/4$$ by mass) and silicon carbide dust grains. Dust grains with a radius of 0.5 $$\mu$$m account for $$90\%$$ of the envelope mass. The remaining $$10\%$$ of the mass is accounted for by finer dust with a grain radius of 0.1 $$\mu$$m. Based on the observational data, we have estimated the bolometric flux from V CrB: $$2.6\times 10^{-7}$$ and $$5.1\times 10^{-7}$$ erg cm$${}^{-2}$$ s$${}^{-1}$$ at minimum and maximum light, respectively. The effective temperature of the star is $$T_{\textrm{max}}=3000$$ K at maximum light and $$T_{\textrm{min}}=2400$$ K at minimum light.  相似文献

Results from optical photometric observations of the pre-main sequence star GM Cep are reported in the paper. The star is located in the field of the young open cluster Trumpler 37—a region of active star formation. GM Cep shows a large amplitude rapid variability interpreted as a possible outburst from EXor type in previous studies. Our data from BVRI CCD photometric observations of the star are collected from June 2008 to February 2011 in Rozhen observatory (Bulgaria) and Skinakas observatory (Crete, Greece). A sequence of sixteen comparison stars in the field of GM Cep was calibrated in the BVRI bands. Our photometric data for a 2.5 years period show a high amplitude variations ($\Delta V \sim2\mbox{$\Delta V \sim2\mbox{) and two deep minimums in brightness are observed. The analysis of collected multicolor photometric data shows the typical of UX Ori variables a color reversal during the minimums in brightness. On the other hand, high amplitude rapid variations in brightness typical for the Classical T Tauri stars also present on the light curve of GM Cep. Comparing our results with results published in the literature, we conclude that changes in brightness are caused by superposition of both: (1) magnetically channeled accretion from the circumstellar disk, and (2) occultation from circumstellar clouds of dust or from features of a circumstellar disk.  相似文献

We have investigated long-term variations of solar brightness as a function of both time and solar latitude using eight years of ground-based photometric data in conjunction with space-based irradiance data. In particular, we have examined whether the combination of sunspot brightness deficits and facular brightness excesses is sufficient to explain the solar cycle irradiance variations. After correcting for the contribution from sunspots, we find that the irradiance data can be adequately explained by a model in which the remaining brightness variations are due entirely to facular contributions confined to the magnetically active latitudes. Thus we find no support for the hypothesis that there are convectively driven hot bands in the active latitudes, and our data show brightness variations that are well described by a facular contrast function.  相似文献

We present a detailed analysis of the soft X-ray (0.1–2.4 keV) emission of the Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 926 in order to investigate its long-term variation. The X-ray data were obtained from the ROSAT-PSPC archives. The light curves show a gradual decrease of brightness for a time scales of 36months with the exception of a single flare event superimposed on the gradual variation of brightness. The light variations for three different energy bands and the hardness ratios were investigated to search for correlations; no correlation was confirmed. In order to compare spectral variations during the flare event with other periods, the spectral parameters were determined. A model of the transition layer of an active region of the Sun is presented based on radio observations. The model is deduced by using the Laplace transform of the brightness temperature and the hydrostatic equilibrium equation. A rational function, well-behaved in the coronal region, has been used to represent the observed brightness temperature. The model indicates the existence of a very steep temperature gradient and suggests the presence of a constant conductive flux from the corona into the chromosphere. Both these conclusions are quantitatively in a very good agreement with those deduced from the UV emission lines observations, thus removing a previous discrepancy between radio and optical based models. It is also shown that the presence of a weak magnetic field does not alter the above conclusions.  相似文献

UBVRI observations of the eclipsing symbiotic star CI Cyg made during 1991–1995 are analyzed, the results of which indicate that the system is in the same quiescent state as during 1985–1990. Variations in the "extra-eclipse" color index U-B with an amplitude of about 0m.3–0m.4 and a characteristic time of about 9–10 yr have been detected for the first time. Based on the light curves at 4.8, 8.0 and 14.5 GHz of Quasar 1156+295 from the University of Michigan Radio Astronomy Observatory, we analyze the variability property of total flux at the three radio bands during the time range from 1980 to 2012. With the structure function (SF) analysis we find a similar evolution trend with the characteristic variability timescale of 1.15±0.05 year for all the three radio bands, and a possible quasi-periodic variability period of ~2.3±0.1 year. The Lomb-Scargle periodogram (LSP) analysis implies the existence of multiple periods in the radio light curves, one of them with a period similar to the one found using the SF at around 2.3 year. The structure function analysis of pre- and post-1997 suggests that the characteristic timescales become longer since 1997, confirmed by the result of Lomb-Scargle periodogram and auto-correlation function. In addition, the cross correlation analysis confirms that there is a strong correlation of flux variations at the three radio frequencies with the 14.5 GHz variation leading the other two bands by about 60–120 days.  相似文献

We present and discuss the results of our long-term JHKLM photometry for two RV Tau stars (R Sge and RV Tau) and the yellow supergiant V1027 Cyg, a candidate for protoplanetary nebulae. The amplitude of the infrared brightness variations in R Sge and RV Tau over fourteen years of observations was 0 . m 9?1 m ; the infrared brightness variations in V1027 Cyg over eighteen years did not exceed 0 . m 25. The infrared brightness and color of R Sge fluctuated about their gradually changing mean values; the infrared brightness variations agree with a period of 70.77 days. The periodic J brightness and J-H color variations in R Sge can be explained by temperature pulsations with ΔT ≤ 200 K and radial pulsations with [ΔR/R] ≤ 0.2. From 1995 to 2008, the mean J brightness of RV Tau increased, while its mean J-H color index decreased; the variations in the mean J brightness can be associated mainly with stellar temperature variations; a periodic component with P = 78.73 days is observed in the infrared brightness and color fluctuations. The variations in the mean J brightness and J-H color index of the supergiant V1027 Cyg over eighteen years of observations did not exceed a few hundredths of a magnitude; both temperature and radial pulsations may be present in the observed J brightness variations. The most probable period of the infrared brightness fluctuations in V1027 Cyg is 237 ± 2 days. The dust shell of R Sge may consist of two layers with grain temperatures of ~1000 and ~700 K; the optical depth at 1.25 µm is ~0.02 and ~0.24, respectively. The grain temperatures in the circumstellar dust shells of the supergiants RV Tau and V1027 Cyg are ~600 K (RV Tau) and ~700 K (V1027 Cyg). Their optical depths at 1.25 µm are ~0.24 (RV Tau) and ~0.008 (V1027 Cyg).  相似文献

从Fermi 3期源表(3FGL)中选择了一个含935个耀变体(blazar)的样本, 包括415个平谱射电源(Flat Spectrum Radio Quasar, FSRQ), 520个蝎虎天体(BL Lac object, BL Lac), 其中高同步峰BL Lac (HBL) 233个, 中同步峰BL Lac (IBL) 144个, 低同步峰BL Lac (LBL) 143个. 研究了总样本、FSRQ、BL Lac及其子类HBL、LBL的射电1.4GHz 与gamma射线在0.1、0.3、1、3、10GeV处辐射流量密度的关系. 结果显示: 所有样本的射电1.4GHz与5个波段gamma射线的辐射流量都有强相关, 相关系数在0.48--0.81之间, 机会概率均小于$10^{-4; 对于不同的样本相关系数随着gamma射线辐射频率的变化有不同的变化趋势, 所有样本在5个波段的相关系数平均值随gamma射线频率的增加而减小. 该结果暗示, 随着频率的升高, blazar的gamma射线辐射主导机制在发生变化, 在相同频率处, 不同类型天体的辐射主导机制存在差异; HBL的gamma射线辐射主要由同步自康普顿主导, 而LBL的其他成份比HBL的更复杂; FSRQ的gamma射线起源较BL Lac的复杂.  相似文献
