Reweighting strategies have been widely used to diminish the influence of outliers in inverse problems. In a similar fashion, they can be used to design the regularization term that must be incorporated to solve an inverse problem successfully. Zero-order quadratic regularization, or damped least squares (pre-whitening) is a common procedure used to regularize the deconvolution problem. This procedure entails the definition of a constant damping term which is used to control the roughness of the deconvolved trace. In this paper I examine two different regularization criteria that lead to an algorithm where the damping term is adapted to successfully retrieve a broad-band reflectivity.
Synthetic and field data examples are used to illustrate the ability of the algorithm to deconvolve seismic traces.  相似文献

Analysis of potential field data in the wavelet domain   总被引:15,自引:0,他引:15  
Various Green's functions occurring in Poisson potential field theory can be used to construct non-orthogonal, non-compact, continuous wavelets. Such a construction leads to relations between the horizontal derivatives of geophysical field measurements at all heights, and the wavelet transform of the zero height field. The resulting theory lends itself to a number of applications in the processing of potential field data. Some simple, synthetic examples in two dimensions illustrate one inversion approach based upon the maxima of the wavelet transform (multiscale edges). These examples are presented to illustrate, by way of explicit demonstration, the information content of the multiscale edges. We do not suggest that the methods used in these examples be taken literally as a practical algorithm or inversion technique. Rather, we feel that the real thrust of the method is towards physically based, spatially local filtering of geophysical data images using Green's function wavelets, or compact approximations thereto. To illustrate our first steps in this direction, we present some preliminary results of a 3-D analysis of an aeromagnetic survey.  相似文献

Our study interprets large-scale gravity data to delineate concealed banded iron formation (BIF) iron mineralization in India's Rajasthan province. The study area belongs to the Bharatpur, Dausa, and Karauli districts of Rajasthan. We measured 1462 gravity readings to understand the rock types, depth and geometry of the different rock formations in the proposed study area. We also collected representative lithologies from more than 100 locations in the study area and calculated their density values. The measured gravity datasets are investigated via qualitative (e.g., Bouguer anomaly, first derivative and second derivative) and quantitative (radially averaged power spectrum, 3D Euler deconvolution, and 3D inversion) approach. The qualitative methods suggest a general NE–SW orientation of the BIFs, controlled by the general trend of the study area's structural setting. The lithological contact between the Bhilwara and Vindhyan Supergroups is demarcated by a NE–SW trending steep gravity gradient zone. In this area, representative lithologies yield high densities (about 3.746 gm/cc), and the samples identified as BIF represent exploration targets for iron ore. We have also developed our own in-house 3D gravity inversion code in this study. A model space inversion algorithm is converted into a data space using the identity relationship. It makes inversion algorithm very user-friendly on conventional desktop computers. The outcomes from the 3D inversion suggest that the concealed iron ore thickens to the west. This interpretation is also in good correlation with Euler 3D deconvolution of the gravity data.

When using hyphenated methods in analytical chemistry,the data obtained for each sample are given asa matrix.When a regression equation is set up between an unknown sample (a matrix) and a calibrationset (a stack of matrices),the residual is a matrix R.The regression equation is usually solved by minimizing the sum of squares of R.If the sample containssome constituent not calibrated for,this approach is not valid.In this paper an algorithm is presentedwhich partitions R into one matrix of low rank corresponding to the unknown constituents,and onerandom noise matrix to which the least squares restrictions are applied.Properties and possibleapplications of the algorithm are also discussed.In Part 2 of this work an example from HPLC with diode array detection is presented and the resultsare compared with generalized rank annihilation factor analysis (GRAFA).  相似文献

本文简略地介绍了几种地质灾害数据处理与建模的非线性方法,主要包括GMDH自组织建模技术、神经网络方法。GMDH是一种高阶非线性回归建模方法,它是以简单的二元二次回归方程为基础,通过"代复一代"的"生产"过程,客观、自动地求得实际资料的非线性模型。而神经网络则是用工程技术手段模拟生物神经网络的结构特征和功能特征的一类人工系统。与常规统计方法相比,神经网络最突出的优点为它是通过对网络的学习和训练,来掌握变量之间的非线性关系。因此,其处理复杂问题的能力更强大。实例检验效果表明,这些非线性数据处理与建模技术考虑了地质灾害问题的非线性特性,其比基于常规统计理论的数据处理方法的精度要高得多。  相似文献

The degree of uncertainty of many geographical objects has long been known to be in intimate relation with the scale of its observation and representation. Yet, the explicit consideration of scaling operations when modeling uncertainty is rarely found. In this study, a neural network‐based data model was investigated for representing geographical objects with scale‐induced indeterminate boundaries. Two types of neural units, combined with two types of activation function, comprise the processing core of the model, where the activation function can model either hard or soft transition zones. The construction of complex fuzzy regions, as well as lines and points, is discussed and illustrated with examples. It is shown how the level of detail that is apparent in the boundary at a given scale can be controlled through the degree of smoothness of each activation function. Several issues about the practical implementation of the model are discussed and indications on how to perform complex overlay operations of fuzzy maps provided. The model was illustrated through an example of representing multi‐resolution, sub‐pixel maps that are typically derived from remote sensing techniques.  相似文献

Summary. A method of obtaining solutions to induction problems in layered media for arbitrary sources is presented. The technique makes use of the Fourier transformation and involves a construction over elementary current filaments. Air temperature is an important climatological variable and is usually measured in meteorological stations. Accurate mapping of its spatial and temporal distribution is of great interest for various scientific disciplines, but low station density and complexity of the terrain usually lead to significant errors and unrepresentative spatial patterns over large areas. Fortunately the current studies have shown that the regression models can help overcome the problem with the help of time series remote sensing data. However, noise induced by cloud contamination and other atmospheric disturbances variability impedes the application of LST data. An improved Savizky-Golay (SG) algorithm based on the LST background library is used in this paper to reconstruct MODIS LST product. Data statistical analysis included 12 meteorological stations and 120 reconstructed MODIS LST images of the period from 2001 to 2010. The coeffificient of correlations (R2) for 80% of the stations was higher than 0.5 (below 0.5 for only 2 stations) which illustrated that there is a considerably close agreement between monthly mean TA (air temperature) and the reconstructed LST in the Lancang River basin. Comparing to the regression model for every month with only LST data, the regression model with LST and NDVI had higher R2 and RMSE. Finally, the LST-NDVI regression method was applied as an estimate model to produce distributed maps of air temperature with month intervals and 1 km spatial in the Lancang River basin of 2010.  相似文献

Summary . Born inverse methods give accurate and stable results when the source wavelet is impulsive. However, in many practical applications (reflection seismology) an impulsive source cannot be realized and the inversion needs to be generalized to include an arbitrary source function. In this paper, we present a Born solution to the seismic inverse problem which can accommodate an arbitrary source function and give accurate and stable results. It is shown that the form of the generalized inversion algorithm reduces to a Wiener shaping ***filter, which is solved efficiently using a Levinson recursion algorithm. Numerical examples of synthetic and real field data illustrate the validity of our method.  相似文献

When inverting large matrices, iterative techniques are necessary because of their speed and low memory requirements, as opposed to singular value decomposition (SVD). Recently, there have been attempts to obtain information on the quality of the solutions calculated using conjugate gradient (CG) methods such as LSQR. The purpose of this note is to comment on the paper titled "Estimation of resolution and covariance for large matrix inversions' by Zhang & McMechan (1995), who extend Paige and Saunders' LSQR algorithm to obtain an orthonormal basis used to approximate resolution and covariance. We show that for larger problems, where the number of orthogonal vectors is several orders of magnitude smaller than the number of model parameters, the vectors obtained do not adequately span the range of the model space. We use a synthetic borehole experiment to illustrate the differences between the singular value spectrum obtained through the more complete method of SVD and the Ritz value spectrum that results from a simple extension of LSQR, We also present a trivial numerical example to illustrate the differences between Zhang & McMechan's approximate resolution matrix and the true resolution.  相似文献

Summary . We present a variety of examples, showing systematic fluctuations as a function of angular order of measured eigenfrequencies for given normal modes of the Earth. The data are single station measurements from the GEOSCOPE network. Such fluctuations are attributed to departures from the lowest order asymptotic expression of the geometrical optics approximation. We derive first-order asymptotic expressions for the location parameter for all three components of the Earth's motion, by a method based on the stationary phase approximation and geometric relations on the unit sphere.
We illustrate the sensitivity of the fluctuations to the different parameters involved (source parameters, epicentral distance, laterally heterogeneous earth model) with synthetic examples corresponding to GEOSCOPE observations. Finally, we show the results of first attempts at inversion, which indicate that, when the fluctuations are taken into account, more accurate estimates of the great circle average eigenfrequencies can be obtained, and additional constraints put on the structure in the neighbourhood of the great circle.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new approach to estimate high-resolution teleseismic receiver functions using a simultaneous iterative time-domain sparse deconvolution. This technique improves the deconvolution by using reweighting strategies based on a Cauchy criterion. The resulting sparse receiver functions enhance the primary converted phases and its multiples. To test its functionality and reliability, we applied this approach to synthetic experiments and to seismic data recorded at station ABU, in Japan. Our results show Ps conversions at approximately 4.0 s after the primary P onset, which are consistent with other seismological studies in this area. We demonstrate that the sparse deconvolution is a simple, efficient technique in computing receiver functions with significantly greater resolution than conventional approaches.  相似文献

Geographers continue to engage in public debate “inside the Beltway” by participation within and through federal agencies and through the National Research Council. Several examples illustrate the level and kind of this engagement, which has been concentrated on environmental and spatial data and analysis themes. Most professional geographers have the opportunity to engage in this form of public debate through participation in the activities of the National Research Council. The level of this participation has been surprisingly strong, given the small size of the community of professional geographers, and has helped to shape both U.S. and international research agendas relevant to geographic research. Participation, however, is concentrated in a few programs and individuals, raising questions about the sustainability of geography's voice in this public activity.  相似文献

Problems in the interpretation of passive optical remote sensing data obtained by telespectrometric measurements on board a research vessel (or aircraft) are discussed. Two methods are considered: (1) The correlation method, where correlative relationships between the remotely sensed spectra and concentrations of optically active substances in the water are determined and corresponding regression formulae found; (2) the similarity method, where the remotely sensed spectrum is compared with the multitude of spectra obtained by means of model calculations. The application of these methods and analysis of the results are made using our remote and in situ data. It is found that the correlation method is far from being general (the regression parameters depend on the location, season and weather conditions), but it has the advantage of being applicable without the need to describe the aquatic environment by a theoretical model. The similarity method is much more general but involves difficulties in including the optical properties of the aquatic environment in the theoretical model, especially the backscattering properties of several types of suspended matter in the water bodies.
Some aspects of detecting oil-slick pollution on the sea surface by means of passive optical remote sensing methods are discussed and corresponding examples are shown.  相似文献

Abstract

Kriging is an optimal method of spatial interpolation that produces an error for each interpolated value. Block kriging is a form of kriging that computes averaged estimates over blocks (areas or volumes) within the interpolation space. If this space is sampled sparsely, and divided into blocks of a constant size, a variable estimation error is obtained for each block, with blocks near to sample points having smaller errors than blocks farther away. An alternative strategy for sparsely sampled spaces is to vary the sizes of blocks in such away that a block's interpolated value is just sufficiently different from that of an adjacent block given the errors on both blocks. This has the advantage of increasing spatial resolution in many regions, and conversely reducing it in others where maintaining a constant size of block is unjustified (hence achieving data compression). Such a variable subdivision of space can be achieved by regular recursive decomposition using a hierarchical data structure. An implementation of this alternative strategy employing a split-and-merge algorithm operating on a hierarchical data structure is discussed. The technique is illustrated using an oceanographic example involving the interpolation of satellite sea surface temperature data. Consideration is given to the problem of error propagation when combining variable resolution interpolated fields in GIS modelling operations.  相似文献
