We consider the plane restricted elliptic 3 body problem with small mass ratio and small eccentricity and prove the existence of many periodic orbits shadowing chains of collision orbits of the Kepler problem. Such periodic orbits were first studied by Poincaré for the non-restricted 3 body problem. Poincaré called them second species solutions.  相似文献

In this work we consider four families of plane periodic orbits direct around the Sun which approach Jupiter but they are sufficiently far from it so as to be considered as predominantly two body orbits of the Sun-asteroid system. We study their horizontal and vertical stabilities and we give the exact orbits of bifurcations of these families with three-dimensional families of the same multiplicity or twice the multiplicity of the above families of plane symmetric periodic orbits. Moreover, we give the first segments of the three dimensional families of symmetric periodic orbits which emanate from these plane bifurcations and we study their stability relating it with the stability of the plane bifurcations.  相似文献

We present special generating plane orbits, the vertical-critical orbits, of the coplanar general three-body problem. These are determined numerically for various values of m3, for the entire range of the mass ratio of the two primaries. The vertical-critical orbits are necessary in order to specify the vertically stable segments of the families of plane periodic orbits, and they are also the starting points of the families of the simplest possible three-dimensional periodic orbits, namely the simple and double periodic. The initial conditions of the vertical-critical periodic orbits of the basic families l, m, i, h, b and c and their stability parameters are determined. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A global picture of the families of simple periodic orbits in terms of their characteristics is given in the part of the plane (γ, ξ1) of representation near the singularity corresponding to the small primary, for the case of the restricted problem with a small value of the mass parameter μ. The value used for μ is smaller than the critical value of Routh. The picture is found to be qualitatively different from the one corresponding to μ larger than the critical value. By means of the stability parameters four new families, consisting of asymmetric periodic orbits, are shown to exist as bifurcations of families of symmetric periodic orbits.  相似文献

We apply a numerical searching method to investigate three-dimensional periodic orbits of charged dust particles in planetary magnetospheres. A classic generalized Stormer model of magnetic planets along with the parameters of Saturn is employed. More periodic orbits are found, besides the already known circular periodic orbits in or parallel to the equatorial plane. We divide all these orbits into six categories based on their appearances. By calculating the characteristic multipliers of the orbits, we investigate the stabilities of these periodic orbits.  相似文献

The three-dimensional general three-body problem is formulated suitably for the numerical determination of periodic orbits either directly or by continuation from the three-dimensional periodic orbits of the restricted problem. The symmetry properties of the equations of motion are established and the algorithms for the numerical determination of families of periodic orbits are outlined. A normalization scheme based on the concept of the invariable plane is introduced to simplify the process. All three types of symmetric orbit, as well as the general type of asymmetric orrbit, are considered. Many threedimmensional p periodic orbits are given.  相似文献

A number of partly known families of symmetric three-dimensional periodic orbits of the restricted three-body (=0.4) problem are numerically continued in both ends until they terminate with orbits in the plane of motion of the primaries. The families of plane symmetric periodic orbits from which they bifurcate are identified and many orbit illustrations are given.  相似文献

We consider the bifurcation of 3D periodic orbits from the plane of motion of the primaries in the restricted three-body problem with oblateness. The simplest 3D periodic orbits branch-off at the plane periodic orbits of indifferent vertical stability. We describe briefly suitable numerical techniques and apply them to produce the first few such vertical-critical orbits of the basic families of periodic orbits of the problem, for varying mass parameter and fixed oblateness coefficent A1 = 0.005, as well as for varying A1 and fixed = 1/2. The horizontal stability of these orbits is also determined leading to predictions about the stability of the branching 3D orbits.  相似文献

We study the generation of three-dimensional periodic orbits of the general three-body problem from special generating plane orbits, the vertical-critical orbits. The bifurcation process is examined analytically and geometrically. A method of obtaining numerically continuous sets of vertical-critical orbits is outlined, and applied for the determination of 16 monoparametric sets including all possible types of such orbits corresponding to all possible types of symmetry of the bifurcating three-dimensional orbits. The stability of all bifurcation orbits is assessed. Examples of three-dimensional periodic orbits generated from the bifurcation orbits are given.  相似文献

We present families of symmetric and asymmetric periodic orbits at the 1/1 resonance, for a planetary system consisting of a star and two small bodies, in comparison to the star, moving in the same plane under their mutual gravitational attraction. The stable 1/1 resonant periodic orbits belong to a family which has a planetary branch, with the two planets moving in nearly Keplerian orbits with non zero eccentricities and a satellite branch, where the gravitational interaction between the two planets dominates the attraction from the star and the two planets form a close binary which revolves around the star. The stability regions around periodic orbits along the family are studied. Next, we study the dynamical evolution in time of a planetary system with two planets which is initially trapped in a stable 1/1 resonant periodic motion, when a drag force is included in the system. We prove that if we start with a 1/1 resonant planetary system with large eccentricities, the system migrates, due to the drag force, along the family of periodic orbits and is finally trapped in a satellite orbit. This, in principle, provides a mechanism for the generation of a satellite system: we start with a planetary system and the final stage is a system where the two small bodies form a close binary whose center of mass revolves around the star.  相似文献

The general properties of certain differential systems are used to prove the existence of periodic orbits for a particle around an oblate spheroid. In a fixed frame, there are periodic orbits only fori=0 andi near /2. Furthermore, the generating orbits are circles. In a rotating frame, there are three families of orbits: first a family of periodic orbits in the vicinity of the critical inclination; secondly a family of periodic orbits in the equatorial plane with 0<e<1; thirdly a family of periodic orbits for any value of the inclination ife=0.  相似文献

Several families of planar planetary-type periodic orbits in the general three-body problem, in a rotating frame of reference, for the Sun-Jupiter-Saturn mass-ratio are found and their stability is studied. It is found that the configuration in which the orbit of the smaller planet is inside the orbit of the larger planet is, in general, more stable. We also develop a method to study the stability of a planar periodic motion with respect to vertical perturbations. Planetary periodic orbits with the orbits of the two planets not close to each other are found to be vertically stable. There are several periodic orbits that are stable in the plane but vertically unstable and vice versa. It is also shown that a vertical critical orbit in the plane can generate a monoparametric family of three-dimensional periodic orbits.  相似文献

Accurate numerical continuation of families of plane symmetric direct periodic orbits around the large primary in the Sun-Jupiter case of the restricted problem of three bodies allows the determination of the vertical branching points where families of three-dimensional symmetric periodic orbits bifurcate from the planar ones. Three families of plane periodic orbits, and the initial segments of ten bifurcating families of three-dimensional ones are determined. The stability of these families is examined and examples of their orbits are illustrated.  相似文献

We consider the main problem in satellite theory restricted to the polar plane. For suitable values of the energy the system has two unstable periodic orbits. We classify the trajectories in terms of their ultimate behavior with respect these periodic orbits in: oscillating, asymptotic and capture orbits. We study the energy level set and the existence and properties of the mentioned types of motion.  相似文献

We consider bifurcation of 3D periodic orbits from the plane ofmotion of the primaries in the photogravitational restricted three-bodyproblem. The simplest periodic 3D orbits branch from the plane periodicorbits of indifferent vertical stability. We compute the first few suchorbits of the basic families l, m, i, h, a, b, c forvarying mass parameter and for varying radiation coefficient of thelarger primary. The horizontal stability of the orbits is also computedleading to predictions about possible stability of the 3D orbits.  相似文献

We study the orbit of a particle in the plane of symmetry of two equal mass primaries in rectilinear keplerian motion. Using the surfaces of section we look for periodic orbits, examine their stability and search for quasi-periodic orbits and regions of escape. For large values of the angular momentumC, we verify the validity of the approximation of two fixed centers. However, we also find irregular families of orbits and resonance zones. For small values ofC, the approximation is no longer valid, but we find invariant curves whose interpretation might be interesting.  相似文献

We consider asymmetric periodic solutions of the double-averaged Hill problem by taking into account oblateness of the central planet. They are generated by steady-state solutions, which are stable in the linear approximation and correspond to satellite orbits orthogonal to the line of intersection of the planet’s equatorial plane with the orbital plane of a disturbing point. For two model systems [(Sun+Moon)-Earth-satellite] and [Sun-Uranus-satellite], these periodic solutions are numerically continued from a small vicinity of the equilibrium position. The results are illustrated by projecting the solutions onto the (pericenter argument-eccentricity) and (longitude-inclination) planes.  相似文献

We study the properties of the families of three-dimensional periodic orbits which bifurcate from the vertical critical orbits of the retrograde family of quasi-circular plane periodic orbits which extend from the galactic center up to infinity. We consider the case of a barred galaxy with a strong central bulge. The values of the parameters are chosen in such a way as to cover the cases of a strong or weak bar with a fast or slow rotation.  相似文献

The Sitnikov configuration is a special case of the restricted three-body problem where the two primaries are of equal masses and the third body of a negligible mass moves along a straight line perpendicular to the orbital plane of the primaries and passes through their center of mass. It may serve as a toy model in dynamical astronomy, and can be used to study the three-dimensional orbits in more applicable cases of the classical three-body problem. The present paper concerns the straight-line oscillations of the Sitnikov family of the photogravitational circular restricted three-body problem as well as the associated families of three-dimensional periodic orbits. From the stability analysis of the Sitnikov family and by using appropriate correctors we have computed accurately 49 critical orbits at which families of 3D periodic orbits of the same period bifurcate. All these families have been computed in both cases of equal and non-equal primaries, and consist entirely of unstable orbits. They all terminate with coplanar periodic orbits. We have also found 35 critical orbits at which period doubling bifurcations occur. Several families of 3D periodic orbits bifurcating at these critical Sitnikov orbits have also been given. These families contain stable parts and close upon themselves containing no coplanar orbits.  相似文献

In this paper three results on the linearized mapping associated with the plane three body problem near a periodic orbit are established. It is first shown that linear stability of such an orbit is independent of initial position on the orbit and of coordinate system. Second, the relation of Hénon connecting the rates of change of rotation angle and period on an isoenergetic family of periodic orbits is proved, together with a similar relation for families of orbits closing exactly in a rotating coordinate system. Finally, a condition for a critical orbit is given which is applicable to any family of periodic orbits.  相似文献
