Although the term ‘geochemical baseline’ appears in the international geochemical mapping programmes IGCP 259 and 360, it has never been well defined. Several considerations relevant to such a definition are discussed. A geochemical baseline for an element refers to its natural variations in concentration in the surficial environment. Geochemical baselines were studied in Finland by comparing results from regional geochemical mapping programmes based on samples of till, clay and organic stream sediment. The geochemical background changes regionally with the basic geology and locally with the type and genesis of the overburden. Baseline concentrations depend on sample material collected, grain size and extraction method. In Finland, concentrations of potentially harmful elements tend to be higher in fine-grained marine and lacustrine sediments than in glacial till. Concentrations are also systematically higher in the < 0.06 mm fraction than in the < 2 mm size fraction of till samples. Only small proportions of the total heavy metal concentrations in Finnish marine clays are bioavailable. Geochemical baselines are needed for environmental legislation and political decision-making, especially in the assessment of contaminated soil. In many areas of Finland, natural concentrations of several heavy metals exceed the guide or limit values designated for contaminated soils. Thus baselines must always be verified in any assessment of sites for contamination.  相似文献

 The formation of base cations through mineral weathering in forest soils is one of the key parameters in calculating critical loads. Weathering rates in Finland have been estimated using a variety of methods. In the first approach, three weathering rate categories were assigned to soils according to the bedrock type. The second approach was based on an empirical relationship obtained from Swedish field studies. Changes in zirconium content through the soil profile were used to estimate element losses in soil after deglaciation. These calculated losses correlated well with the total calcium and magnesium concentrations in till C-horizons and the effective temperature sum (ETS). Comprehensive geochemical data for the parent till fine fraction (<0.06 mm) was available through the reconnaissance scale till geochemical mapping program of the Geological Survey of Finland (GSF). The equations obtained from Swedish studies were based on the use of the coarse (<2.0 mm) till fraction, and the differences in element concentrations between the fine and coarse size fractions remained a potential source of uncertainty estimating overall weathering rates. In the third approach, new geochemical data from the <2.0 mm till fraction from southern Finland were used to make new weathering rate estimates. The use of soil geochemistry instead of bedrock map classification clearly led to an improvement in the estimates of soil weathering rates in glacied terrains. The use of the fine till fraction (<0.06 mm) in the zirconium approach generally resulted in overestimations of the weathering rate. The new geochemical data for the coarse till fraction (<2 mm) are now consistent with the input requirements of the zirconium method, although the results still require further evaluation. Finnish soil profiles have a shorter weathering history than most of the Swedish ones and the uppermost layer in Finnish podsols has in some cases developed in a different till layer than the C-horizon. 确定矿集区土壤地球化学基准值是矿山环境地质调查与评价的重要任务,而遴选出合适的地球化学基线值的定值方法是该问题的关键。以江西德兴铜矿集区表层土壤地球化学数据为依据,运用地球化学对比法、相对累积频率方法和标准化的方法分别计算了德兴铜矿集区表层土壤6种重金属元素的地球化学背景值,并将其与江西省土壤背景值对比。结合成土母岩重金属含量分析了各种基准值定值方法的适用性,结果证明标准化方法较适用于确定研究区表层土壤地球化学基准值。  相似文献

Identifying the provenance of aeolian sediments in the Hunshandake Sandy Land is of great importance for understanding the formation of the dune fields in the mid-latitudes and for deciphering information about desert’s responses to global change. By determining the major and trace elements concentrations of aeolian sands in three grain size fractions from the central and western parts of the Hunshandake Sandy Land, we systematically study the provenance and the depositional history of aeolian sands in this desert environment. Our results show that aeolian sands from the Hunshandake Sandy Land are enriched in SiO2 and are depleted in many other elements compared to those of the Upper Continent Crust (UCC). Variations of the immobile elements ratios like Zr/Hf, La/Yb, Th/Nb, La/Nb,LaN/YbN , GdN/YbN are relatively large in the coarse and medium fractions but minor in the fine fractions. Eu anomalies are quite different in the coarse fractions, but mostly positive in the medium fractions and all negative in the fine fractions. Decreasing tendency of Zr concentrations from the west to the east in the Hunshandake Sandy Land is evident in the coarse sands but rather weak in the fine grain size fractions. Our geochemical data indicate that the sources for the coarse and medium fractions of aeolian sands are diverse, influenced by local geology and geomorphology, while the fine sand fractions are more homogenous due to intensive mixture mainly by aeolian processes. Various ratios of immobile elements suggest that these sands should be sourced primarily from the surrounding mountains by fluvial/alluvial processes rather than from any remote territories. Aeolian sands with Ce negative anomalies are widely distributed in the Hunshandake Sandy Land, indicating that aquatic environments have occurred extensively prior to the occurrence of the dune field.  相似文献

通过储集层的孔喉结构来评价储层已广泛运用于油气开发,但目前尚未运用于钾盐储层的评价。本文利用扫描电镜和压汞法获得的大量储层孔隙、孔喉实验数据,研究了江汉盆地古新统—白垩系富钾卤水砂岩储层的孔喉类型和结构、毛细管压力曲线,以及孔喉定量特征参数。研究表明,古新统沙市组砂岩储层以Ⅱ类孔隙结构为主,排驱压力平均值为2.72 MPa,孔隙度平均值为6.32%。而白垩系红花套组砂岩储层以Ⅰ、Ⅱ类孔隙结构为主,Ⅰ类排驱压力平均值为0.28 MPa,孔隙度平均值为16.99%,渗透率为87.79×10~(-3)μm~2;Ⅱ类排驱压力平均值为1.103 MPa,孔隙度平均值为10.02%,渗透率为18.83×10~(-3)μm~2。通过综合分析孔喉定量特征参数(如最大汞饱和度、最大孔喉半径、中值半径、退汞效率等)来评价储层质量,认为古新统沙市组砂岩类型以粉砂岩为主,储层质量较差,属于特低孔低渗储层;白垩系红花套组砂岩类型以细砂岩为主,储层质量较好,属于低孔低渗储层。本研究为该区富钾卤水储层评价以及进一步勘探开发提供了可靠的地质依据。  相似文献

Diamondiferous kimberlites occur in eastern Finland, in the areas of Kaavi–Kuopio and Kuhmo. Active diamond exploration has been ongoing in the country for over two decades, but the Karelian craton still remains under explored given its size and potential. In order to develop techniques that can be applied to diamond exploration in glaciated terrains, the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) carried out a detailed heavy mineral and geochemical survey of Quaternary till in 2001–2003 around two of the known kimberlitic bodies in Finland, Pipe 7 in Kaavi and Dyke 16 in Kuhmo. The mineralogical and geochemical signatures of these two kimberlites were studied in the basal till deposited down-ice from the targets. The kimberlites were selected to represent two different types in terms of shape, size, age and petrology, as well as showing contrasting country rocks and Quaternary deposits. Till samples up to 60 kg in weight were taken by excavator and by drill rig. Kimberlitic indicator mineral grains (0.25–1.0 mm) were concentrated using a GTK modified 3″Knelson Concentrator. Fine fractions (< 0.063 mm) of selected samples were analyzed by XRF and ICP-MS. The indicator grains down-ice from Pipe 7 form a well-defined fan in the basal till that can be followed for at least 2 km with a maximum concentration at 1.2 km distance from the pipe. Another kimberlitic body discovered during the study 300 m down-ice from Pipe 7 demonstrates that there are in fact at least two superimposed indicator fans. The results do not rule out the possibility of even more undiscovered kimberlitic sources in the area. In contrast, the indicator dispersal trail from Dyke 16 is shorter (1 km) and less well-defined than that at Kaavi, mainly due to the lower indicator content in the kimberlite itself and subsequently in till, as well as a large population of background chromites in till. The latter population is likely having been derived from the Archean Näätäniemi serpentinite massif and the associated ultramafic metavolcanics of the Kuhmo greenstone belt, located ca. 30 km up-ice from the sampling area. The indicator maximum at Seitaperä dyke swarm occurs immediately down-ice from the kimberlite, after which the concentration drops rapidly. Results of this study contribute to the overall understanding of the Quaternary history of the Kaavi and Kuhmo areas, and more importantly, provide key information to diamond exploration in these particular regions and also elsewhere in glaciated terrains.  相似文献

 The geochemical and mineralogical characteristics of bulk samples and various size fractions of sulfide-bearing fine-grained sediments in the Petalax area, western Finland, were studied with ICP-AES (aqua regia digestion and "total" digestion) and X-ray diffraction. The sediments, which are dominated by particles <0.06 mm (clay and silt size), are composed of phyllosilicates (micas, kaolinite, chlorite, vermiculite), quartz, feldspars, amphiboles, organic matter, and secondary S minerals. The chemical analyses show that Na, Ca, and Sr are enriched in the silt and sand fractions, that Zr is enriched in the silt fraction, and that the concentrations of all other studied metals (Al, Ba, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, La, Mg, Mn, Nb, Ni, Sc, Th, Ti, V, Y, and Zn) increase from the sand to the clay fraction. Sodium, Ca, and Sr occur largely in poorly dissolved feldspars, which explains the distribution of these metals in the sediments. The increase in the concentrations of most metals in the clay fraction is interpreted to be the result mainly of an increase in phyllosilicates in this size fraction. A geochemical comparison between the sulfide-bearing fine-grained sediments and glacial till shows that the former are enriched in several potentially toxic metals. It is therefore argued that the hydrological and ecological problems associated with the sulfide-bearing sediments are related not only to the production of acidity in oxidized layers, but also to mobilization and dispersion of toxic metals. 通过对颗粒铂分布与取子样误差关系的讨论 ,发现在铂矿地球化学勘查中 ,铂分析的取子样误差主要出现在铂异常的查证和异常源追踪阶段 ,导致误差的主要因素是随着与矿床或矿体的不断接近 ,样品中铂含量迅速增高 ,可能出现铂的颗粒效应。为了使铂分析的误差控制在 5 0 %之内 ,建议在铂矿地球化学勘查的不同阶段 ,采取不同的子样量分析铂。在区域化探阶段 ,大多数样品仍可采用取 1 0 g子样分析铂 ;而在异常追踪和查证阶段 ,由于样品中的铂含量往往大于 1 0ng/ g ,土壤、水系沉积物样品中颗粒铂粒径通常为 5~ 2 0 μm ,故建议取 2 0 g子样分析可保证大多数样品的分析误差控制在 5 0 %之内。文献中报道的取 5g、1 g样品获得的铂分析数据 ,使用时应慎重  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of parent sediment material on soil geochemistry and to locate possible pollution sources in the area of Turku town in southwestern Finland. The study area is glaciated terrain and subsurface samples were chosen to represent five different parent sediment materials: glacial till, glaciofluvial or littoral sand, clay, peat and marine mud. Elemental concentrations of surface (100 samples) and background soil (50 samples) were analysed by ICP-AES (Al, Ba, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, S, Sr, Ti, V) and by graphite furnace AAS (As, Cd, Mo, Se). Loss-on-ignition was determined as an indicator of organic matter. Analytical results were examined using multivariate statistical methods. The results indicate that the studied soils are not heavily contaminated; there were only few sample sites with elevated heavy metal concentrations. High Pb concentrations were observed along main traffic routes, and also in places where there has been small-scale use of antifouling paints. However, concentrations of heavy metals in topsoil were in general significantly lower than those measured in large cities elsewhere. The parent material strongly affects the geochemical character of the soils. Clays naturally have a significantly higher concentration of heavy metals than sands or till material. This is also reflected in concentrations in organic topsoil. When assessing target levels for polluted soil, the primary sediment appears to be a more important factor than the amount of organic matter.  相似文献

Geomorphological (drumlins, ribbed moraine) and geochemical features associated with till in the District of Keewatin are arranged in belts or dispersal trains paralleling the main direction of ice flow. Both types of features can be related to chemical and physical characteristics of specific types of source rocks.
For dispersal studies in perennially frozen terrain, till samples were collected from mudboils at spacings of approximately 1.6 km. The texture of till samples varies significantly from sample site to sample site because of varying source-rock lithologies and periglacial processes. Thus, because fractions coarser than clay are mostly quartz and feldspar and contain very little metal after weathering in the active layer, they were removed by centrifugation so as not to mask the 'true' relative metal contents of samples. The clay-sized fraction was separated from till samples and analyzed on the assumption that it contained scavenging phases that adsorb cations in proportion to those released by weathering of mineralized particles that were originally physically dispersed by glacial action.
Dispersal patterns of copper, zinc, nickel, and uranium were derived for approximately 1000 samples evenly distributed over a 2500 km2 grid. From these maps, large dispersal trains of copper and nickel were found, and known areas of high potential for uranium and Cu-Zn mineralization were clearly indicated.  相似文献

Ophiolitic sequences in Northern Apennines are usually exploited as source of raw material for civil engineering works. Grinding procedures of basalts imply the production of dusts with relatively high concentration of PHES. This paper studied the increase of geochemical risk when washing mud produced at Sasso di Castro quarry site (Tuscany) is reused as rock keeper in a near dismissed quarry and highlighted geochemical fractionation produced on the base of different mineral hardness. Co, Cr, Ni and V concentration measured in washing mud were higher than the limits fixed by the Italian law but compatible with background values. The mobility of these four elements during future weathering processes were estimated by considering the element transfer coefficients and assuming weathered rocks and soils as two different natural analogues of the future state of washing mud. The future concentration was estimated by considering the average lifetime of mineral grains calculated through their dissolution rate, molar volume and grain diameter. The variations of geochemical concentrations were used to estimate the percentage increase of the geochemical risk at the displacement place. After 50 years the associated geochemical risk is still considerably lower than the probability to be damaged by a single landslide event.  相似文献

The physical partitioning of Hg into different grain size fractions of till is predominantly controlled by the primary bedrock mineralogy, the distance of glacial transport, and the relative stability of cinnabar (HgS) in the soil weathering environment. At sites located short distances down-ice from bedrock cinnabar mineralization, the highest Hg concentrations in unoxidized till were measured in the sand- and granule-sized fractions reflecting the abundance of cinnabar in those size ranges. Similar partitioning was measured in oxidized till as cinnabar was found to be relatively resistant to postglacial weathering. Discrete clay-sized cinnabar grains obtained from the unoxidized till were viewed under the scanning electron microscope and suggest that the terminal grade of cinnabar is in the clay-sized range. In till collected from areas barren of cinnabar mineralization, the highest Hg levels were found in the clay-sized fraction which is attributed to the high adsorption of Hg by clay minerals.  相似文献

Concentrations of several elements extractable with BaCl2 and acid ammonium acetate (pH 4.65) were measured in the organic and 4 mineral soil layers on the national forest inventory plots of the Finnish Forest Research Institute. The soil data also includes total concentrations of elements in the organic layer and site and soil physical characteristics. Data were compared with the aqua regia extractable element concentrations measured in the nationwide regional till geochemical mapping carried out by the Geological Survey of Finland.Correlations between concentrations in surface soil and underlying basal till were generally highest for K, Mg, Mn, P and Zn; in the organic layer and till they were highest for Cr and Cu. The strength of these correlations did not increase regularly from surface to deeper soil layers. All soil base cations with the exception of Ca, which is of relatively low solubility, were well correlated. The elements Zn, K, P, Al and Mn in till were the most reliable indicators of surface soil chemistry.Fuzzy clustering showed that the correlation between element concentrations in basal till and the two uppermost layers of mineral soil was better within areas of distinct till geochemistry, such as the schist belts in southwestern Finland, the Lake Ladoga–Bothnian Bay zone and the Kuusamo schist belt.Surface soil chemical variables were clearly better in discriminating fertility classes of forest sites than were element concentrations in basal till. The independent ability of till geochemistry to distinguish these productivity classes and to explain surface soil fertility was nevertheless demonstrated.  相似文献

This paper summarizes advances since 1987 in the application of glacial sediment sampling to mineral exploration (drift prospecting) in areas affected by continental or alpine glaciation. In these exploration programs, clastic glacial sediments are tested by geochemical or mineralogical methods to detect dispersal trains of mineral deposit indicators that have been glacially transported from source by mechanical processes. In glaciated terrain the key sampling medium, till, is produced by abrasion, crushing and blending of rock debris and recycled sediment followed by down-ice dispersal ranging from a few metres to many kilometres. As a consequence of the mid-1980s boom in gold exploration, the majority of case studies and regional till geochemical surveys published in the past decade deal with this commodity. Approximately 30% of Canada and virtually all of Fennoscandia have been covered by regional till geochemical surveys that aid mineral exploration and provide baseline data for environmental, agricultural, and landuse planning. The most profound event in drift prospecting in the last decade, however, has been the early-1990s explosion in diamond exploration which has dramatically increased the profile of glacial geology and glacial sediment sampling and stimulated changes in sampling and analytical methods.  相似文献

在科尔沁沙地采集沙地表土样品16组,松嫩平原杜蒙沙地样品15组,同期还收集了城市道路表土样品10组,对各组样品进行粒度分级(全样、>63 μm、63~30 μm、30~11 μm和<11 μm),分别测定碳酸盐含量和碳同位素组成。结果显示,不同区域不同性质样品各粒级组分碳酸盐含量的变化幅度不同,科尔沁沙地最小(0.8%),其次为杜蒙沙地(1.9%),道路表土最大(2.7%)。大部分杜蒙沙地样品(66.7%)和小部分科尔沁沙地样品(37.5%)以及全部道路表土样品的碳酸盐含量随粒度变细而增大,且变化模式各不相同。碳酸盐含量随粒度变细而增高是非匀速的,先是增幅较大(>63 μm→63~30 μm→30~11 μm),后增幅较小(30~11 μm→<11 μm)。沙地样品碳酸盐含量与粒度的关系并不限于随粒度变细而增大这一种,风成砂和经历过强烈成壤作用改造的沙地样品中的碳酸盐含量与粒度的关系皆表现为随粒度变细而减小,沉积物中碳酸盐含量随粒径变细而增高是否是一种普遍规律还需要更多区域的更多样品来检验。大部分沙地样品和道路表土样品不同粒级组分的碳酸盐δ13C值变化范围较小(<1.8‰),并表现出随粒度变细而趋于偏正的特征,但变化幅度很小。杜蒙沙地和科尔沁沙地碳酸盐含量的地区差异性极不明显,且各粒级组分碳酸盐含量的变化幅度大大超过了杜蒙沙地与科尔沁沙地的碳酸盐差异值,不能作为区分杜蒙沙地和科尔沁沙地风尘源区的示踪指标;而科尔沁沙地和杜蒙沙地碳酸盐δ13C组成存在明显差异(在63~30 μm粒级组分表现最为明显),且不同粒级组分碳酸盐δ13C值差别较小,说明它是一个比碳酸盐含量更好的风尘源区示踪指标,但是不同粒级组分碳酸盐δ13C组成的差异会随离中国西部沙漠沙地风尘源区距离的加大或者风尘物质成壤作用的增强而变大,增加其风尘源区示踪的复杂性。  相似文献

Gold grains were studied in 102 till and gravel samples from an area with Au anomalies in the fine fraction of till. The form and size of gold nuggets were studied under the microscope, and the composition of selected grains was determined on a microprobe. The number of visible nuggets per sample was less than 10 per 81. In size, the nuggets were between 0.07 and 1 mm. Most of them were indefinite but flat in form, although idiomorphic gains were also observed. In composition, the gold grains in bedrock differed somewhat from those in till and gravel. Some of the nuggets found in gravel and in till were probably secondary in origin. The possibility that all the grains are not primary is emphasized in the interpretation of geochemical results.  相似文献

Thirty-eight samples of stream sediments draining high-grade metamorphic rocks in the Walawe Ganga (river) Basin, Sri Lanka, were analysed for their REE contents, together with samples of metamorphic suites from the source region. The metamorphic rocks are enriched in light REE (LREE) compared to heavy REE (HREE) and are characterised by high La/Lu ratios and negative Eu anomalies. The chondrite-normalised patterns for these granulite-grade rocks are similar to that of the average post-Archaean upper crust, but they are slightly enriched with La and Ce. The REE contents of the <63-μm fraction of the stream sediments are similar to the probable source rocks, but the other grain size fractions show more enriched patterns. The <63-μm stream sediments fraction contains lower total REE, more pronouncd negative Eu anomalies, higher EuN/SmN and lower La N/LuN ratios relative to other fractions. The lower La N/LuN ratio is related to the depletion of heavy minerals in the <63-μm fraction. The 63–125-μm and 125–177-μm grain size fractions of sediments are particularly enriched in LREE (average ΣLREE=2990 μg/g and 3410 μg/g, respectively). The total HREE contents are surprisingly uniform in all size fractions. However, the REE contents in the Walawe Ganga sediments are not comparable with those of the granulite-grade rocks from the source region of the sediments. The enrichment of REE is accounted for by the presence of REE containing accessory mineral phases such as zircon, monazite, apatite and garnet. These minerals are derived from an unknown source, presumably from scattered bodies of granitic pegmatites.  相似文献

山东汤头盆地位于沂沭断裂带南段,盆地内广泛发育以粗安质岩石为主体的晚中生代火山岩,这套岩石主要可归为碱性系列,按化学组成可进一步区分为钾质和钠质二种类型。钾质火山岩的主要岩性为黑云母粗安质火山碎屑岩和潜火山岩,钠质火山岩主要为辉石粗安质潜火山岩,其中钾质火山岩是盆地内火山岩的主体。锆石LA-ICP-MS U-Pb定年获得钾质和钠质火山岩的成岩年龄分别为124.0±1.3Ma和106.4±4.0Ma,表明钠质火山岩较钾质火山岩形成晚。在化学组成上,钾质火山岩较钠质火山岩全碱含量更高,二者的K2O+Na2O含量分别为11.02%~11.37%和8.75%~8.93%。它们均富轻稀土和大离子亲石元素,但钾质火山岩较钠质火山岩稀土总量更高,且更富轻稀土,二者的∑REE值分别为360.1×10-6~417.0×10-6和232.3×10-6~291.0×10-6,(La/Yb)N比值分别为62.02~64.66和40.32~40.52。钾质火山岩的Cs、Rb、Ba、Th、U、Pb等大离子亲石元素和Zr、Hf等高场强元素均较钠质火山岩富集,但Sr、Ti的含量偏低。钾质与钠质火山岩均具有富集的Sr-Nd同位素组成特征,但钠质火山岩的ISr值偏低、而εNd(t)值偏高,二者的ISr和εNd(t)值分别为0.7107~0.7119和-15.48~-16.96,以及0.7098和-10.03。元素和Sr-Nd同位素组成的系统分析表明浅部地壳混染对火山岩地球化学特征未产生显著影响,二类火山岩地球化学特征的变异应主要受控于岩浆源区组成的不同,而不是岩浆演化过程的差异所致。二元混合模拟指示二类火山岩均最可能起源因华北克拉通下地壳拆沉而形成的富集地幔的熔融,但钠质火山岩源区含有较高比例的亏损软流圈地幔组分。根据对火山岩地质与地球化学特征的综合分析,表明郯庐断裂持续的引张促使岩石圈减薄,并诱发深部软流圈熔体上涌,这一上涌的软流圈熔体随后又与原先富集的岩石圈地幔混合,从而导致晚期的钠质火山岩源区中含有较高的亏损软流圈地幔组分。火山岩成分由钾质向钠质演化,是软流圈地幔上涌并置换原有岩石圈地幔,最终导致华北克拉通减薄的直接响应。  相似文献
