A comparative study was done on the bright fine structure in the upper photosphere and in the lower chromosphere of an active region. The results are shown in the following: (a) The bright points in the H wing are cospatial to the facular points, which confirms the result of Wilson (1981). (b) Some points bright in the H wing are associated with the facular granules which have larger sizes than the facular points, (c) The brightness enhancement in the Ha wing is positively correlated to the enhancement in the blue continuum. However, the correlation is not so strong. (d) The moustache points are also cospatial to the facular features. (e) The geometrical shape of a moustache point is like a funnel and diverging upward in the upper photospheric and the lower chromospheric levels. Some discussions are given on the nature of the heating mechanism of the fine structure based upon these results. On leave from Kyoto University and Hida Observatory, Japan.  相似文献

Recent Skylab observations about the bright points in the solar X-ray images seem to confirm an essential prediction of a model proposed by this author for the appearance and the disappearance of the photospheric fields during a solar cycle. The segments of the individually rising strands of the fundamental flux-loops proposed in the model may lead to the X-ray bright points with the observed properties. The emergence of such strands may substantially contribute to the coronal heating at different heights.  相似文献

From a 35-min time series of photographic spectra in the Caii H-line obtained at the Vacuum Tower Telescope (VTT) of the Sacramento Peak Observatory under high spatial, spectral, and temporal resolution, we have derived a large number of H-line profiles at the sites of the bright points in the interior of the supergranulation cells, and at the network elements, on a quiet region at the centre of the solar disc. It is shown that the bright points are associated with 3-min periodicity in their intensity oscillations whereas the network elements exhibit 7-min periodicity. It is surmised that the large difference in periods of the intensity oscillations, the strength of the magnetic fields, and the intensity enhancements at the sites of the bright points and the network elements themselves may probably be taken as evidence to argue that the mechanisms of heating in the two cases are dissimilar, irrespective of the sizes of these structures.  相似文献

The energy release by Joule magnetic-field dissipation in the solar atmosphere is discussed. It is shown that the heating is unimportant in the case of granulation and intergranular space. In the case of spot features the additional temperatures Tr with the accounting of the radiation losses are no more than 30° for small new spots, 1° for the large umbrae and 300° for bright points in large umbrae. This effect gives the possibility to suggest a hypothesis on the source of temperature inhomogeneity in the spot umbra and the nature of bright points. In the chromosphere the dissipation is negligible. On leave from the Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation (IZMIRAN), U.S.S.R., Moscow region, p/o Academgorodok.  相似文献

A time-lapse sequence of spectroheliograms in the bandhead of CN at λ3883 reveals the following behavior of the photospheric network with time:
  1. There is a steady flow of bright ‘points’ (? 1000 km in diameter) laterally outward from sunspots at speeds on the order of 1 km·sec?1. After traveling about 10 000 km from a sunspot they either conglomerate to form fragments of the photospheric network or disappear.
  2. Spatial changes in the network pattern seem to take place by means of the shifting of network fragments laterally on the solar surface. Although most small-scale details are recognizable after 5–10 minutes, within 30 minutes nearly all the details have changed completely. In contrast to this, the large-scale network pattern seems relatively unchanged after 2 1/2 hours.
  3. Occasionally ‘new’ network, not resulting from the lateral motion of bright features from either previously existing network or sunspots, appears on the solar surface. This process consists of the formation in approximately 10 minutes of bright points and a darker-than-average feature between them. The dark feature disappears in another 5–10 minutes and the bright points separate at a relative speed of a few km·sec?1. If the event is of a sufficiently large magnitude, a sunspot will appear.
These observed changes of the photospheric network with time are interpreted as formation and motions of photospheric magnetic fields. It is suggested that these motions reflect the presence of both short-lived small-scale and long-lived large-scale photospheric currents such as one might expect from the granulation and the supergranulation.  相似文献

We have analyzed a large number of Caii H line profiles at the sites of the bright points in the interior of the network using a 35-min-long time sequence of spectra obtained at the Vacuum Tower Telescope (VTT) of the Sacramento Peak Observatory on a quiet regon of the solar disc and studied the dynamical processes associated with these structures. Our analysis shows that the profiles can be grouped into three classes in terms of their evolutionary behaviour. It is surmized that the differences in their behaviour are directly linked with the inner network photospheric magnetic points to which they have been observed to bear a spatial correspondence. The light curves of these bright points give the impression that the main pulse, which is the upward propagating disturbance carrying energy, throws the medium within the bright point into a resonant mode of oscillation that is seen as the follower pulses. The main pulse as well as the follower pulses have identical periods of intensity oscillations, with a mean value around 190 ± 20 s. We show that the energy transported by these main pulses at the sites of the bright points over the entire visible solar surface can account for a substantial fraction of the radiative loss from the quiet chromosphere, according to current models.  相似文献

We have applied several nonlinear techniques to the intensity oscillations of the chromospheric bright points observed at the Vacuum Tower Telescope (VTT) of the Sacramento Peak Observatory. A 35-min time sequence obtained in the Caii H line over a quiet region at the center of the solar disk under high spatial, spectral, and temporal resolution has been used. A relatively new approach is used to detect the hidden periodicity and to extract the associated periodic component(s) from an apparently irregular time series. The unique feature of this approach is that the constituent component(s) can be non-sinusoidal in nature. The periodicity analysis shows that time series of intensity oscillations of most of the bright points can be composed of two non-sinusoidal periodic components with periodicity varying between 2.4 min and 5.8 min. With the help of a multivariate embedding technique, globally significant spatial nonlinear correlation is found. The identification of the nonlinear interaction between bright points is performed by using the methods of dynamical phase synchronization and the similarity index. The analysis indicates that bright points are interconnected in the sense that some bright points are more active and can influence the other relatively passive bright points.  相似文献

We used the flux-calibrated images from the Broad-band Filter Imager and Stokes Polarimeter data obtained with the Solar Optical Telescope onboard the Hinode spacecraft to study the properties of bright points in and around sunspots. The selected bright points are smaller in diameter than 150 km with contrasts exceeding about 3 % in the ratio of sunspot images obtained with the G-band (430.5 nm) and Ca ii H (396.85 nm) filters. The bright points are classified as umbral dot, peripheral umbral dot, penumbral grains, and G-band bright point depending on their location. The bright points are preferentially located around the penumbral boundary and in the fast decaying parts of the umbra. The color temperature of the bright points is in the range of 4600 K to 6600 K with cooler ones located in the central part of the umbra. The temperature increases as a function of distance from the center outward. The G-band, CN-band (388.35 nm), and Ca ii H fluxes of the bright points as a function of their blue-band (450.55 nm) brightness increase continuously in a nonlinear fashion unlike their red (668.4 nm) and green (555.05 nm) counterparts. This is consistent with a model in which the localized heating of the flux tube depletes the molecular concentration, resulting in the reduced opacity that leads to the exposition of deeper and hotter layers. The light curve of the bright points shows that the enhanced brightness at these locations lasts for about 15 to 60 min with the least contrast for the points outside the sunspot. The umbral dots near the penumbral boundary are associated with elongated filamentary structures. The spectropolarimeter observations show that the filling factor decreases as the G-band brightness increases. We discuss the results using the model in which the G-band bright points are produced in the cluster of flux tubes that a sunspot consists of.  相似文献

Comparison between observations of macrospicules and numerical jet models obtained in our previous one-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations suggests that H macrospicules and EUV macrospicules unseen in H have different physical origins. H macrospicules are produced by pressure gradient force at the bright point in the middle or in the upper chromosphere. On the other hand, EUV macrospicules unseen in H are produced by shock waves which originate from network bright-points in the photosphere or in the low chromosphere and have propagated through the chromosphere. An essential difference between the two types of macrospicules is the density ratio between macrospicules and the corona. The critical parameter causing this difference is the height of bright points. The general relation between the density in jets (including also regular spicules) and the height of bright points is discussed.  相似文献

The temporal and spatial variations of EUV emission from a small growing active region were investigated. Frequent localized short term ( few minutes) fluctuations in EUV emission were observed throughout the 7.2 hr interval when the most continuous observations were acquired. Approximately 20% of the 5 x 5 pixels had intensity variations exceeding a factor of 1.3 for the chromospheric L line, a factor of 1.5 for lines formed in the chromospheric-coronal transition region and a factor of 1.4 for the coronal Mg x line. A subflare in the region produced the largest intensity enhancements, ranging from a factor of 2.3 for the chromospheric L line to 8 for the transition region and coronal lines. The EUV fluctuations in this small active region are similar to those observed in coronal bright points, suggesting that impulsive heating is an important, perhaps dominant form of heating the upper chromospheric and lower coronal plasmas in small magnetic bipolar regions. The responsible mechanism most likely involves the rapid release of magnetic energy, possibly associated with the emergence of magnetic flux from lower levels into the chromosphere and corona.  相似文献

Using near-simultaneous full disk solar X-ray images and Hei 10830 spectroheliograms from three rocket flights, we compare dark points identified on the Hei maps with X-ray bright points identified on the X-ray images. We find that for the largest and most obvious features there is a strong correlation: most Hei dark points correspond to X-ray bright points. However, about two-thirds of the X-ray bright points were not identified on the basis of the helium data alone. Once an X-ray feature is identified it is almost always possible to find an underlying dark patch of enhanced Hei absorption which, however, would not a priori have been selected as a dark point. Therefore, the Hei dark points, using current selection criteria, cannot be used as a one-to-one proxy for the X-ray data. Hei dark points do, however, identify the locations of the stronger X-ray bright points.Visitor, National Solar Observatory. Simultaneous observations of fine structure photospheric features at several wavelengths are described. The observations, which include regions near disk center and at the limb, were obtained using a narrow band calcium filter and selected wavelengths in Mg b1, the red wing of H and the H continuum using the Universal Birefringent Filter of the Sacramento Peak Observatory. From the disk-center series it is concluded that bright point structures seen in calcium are cospatial with the H filigree and are related in origin. The limb photographs confirm that the calcium network is cospatial with the white light faculae. However, in regions of good seeing it is clear that even at the limb the calcium network patterns consist of individual bright points which are essentially the same as those seen near disk center. Thus it is concluded that the white light faculae, the H filigree and the calcium bright points are different manifestations of the same photospheric features. On leave from Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Sydney, Australia. The Sacramento Peak Observatory is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. under contract AST 78-17292 with the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

Analysis of bright features in 3840 Å and H shows that forevery Ellerman bomb (H-0.9 Å) there is a cospatial brightening in the 3840 Å network. We give properties of these bright points in both wavelengths as well as describe: (1) the appearance, and subsequent separation, of new elements in the 3840 Å network and (2) the direct transition from a 3840 Å bright point to a new sunspot.  相似文献

We studied the evolutional characteristics of fine structures in H flare emitting regions and their relation to X-ray and microwave emissions for selected events observed with the 60 cm Domeless Solar Telescope at Hida Observatory, University of Kyoto. The principal conclusions of this investigation are: (1) H kernel consists of some finer bright points or Hflare points whose individual size is less than 1 arc sec. (2) Impulsive brightnenings of H flare points occurred simultaneously with the spikes of the hard X-ray and microwave bursts within the time resolution of our H observations which varied from 1 to 10 s. (3) It is concluded that fast electron beams must be the principal mechanism of heating H flares during the impulsive phase of a flare.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984. The electrodynamic model of generation of electric currents in the solar atmosphere, by means of twisting of emerging magnetic flux loops, is investigated with emphasis on the small-scaled EUV/X-ray bright points. It is found that the corresponding power input from such conversion of kinetic energy of the turbulent photospheric plasma into magnetic energy could amount to about 25% of the total energy flux of the solar wind and solar radiation. However, if similar filamentary structures containing colder material are formed in abundance, the total energy budget would be correspondingly larger and the resulting mass injection phenomena may be related to the so-called coronal bullets observed in UV. These energetic features suggest that the coronal dynamics and heating could be dictated by plasma structures with angular sizes <0.1–1. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) mission will be essential in addressing these issues basic to solar corona and solar wind acceleration.Paper dedicated to Professor Hannes Alfvén on the occasion of his 80th birthday, 30 May 1988.  相似文献

Recent dedicated Hinode polar region campaigns revealed the presence of concentrated kilogauss patches of the magnetic field in the polar regions of the Sun, which are also shown to be correlated with facular bright points at the photospheric level. In this work, we demonstrate that this spatial intermittency of the magnetic field persists even up to the chromospheric heights. The small-scale bright elements visible in the bright network lanes of the solar network structure as seen in the Ca ii H images are termed network bright points. We use special Hinode campaigns devoted to the observation of polar regions of the Sun to study the polar network bright points during the phase of the last extended solar minimum. We use Ca ii H images of chromosphere observed by the Solar Optical Telescope. For magnetic field information, level-2 data of the spectro-polarimeter is used. We observe a considerable association between the polar network bright points and magnetic field concentrations. The intensity of such bright points is found to be correlated well with the photospheric magnetic field strength underneath with a linear relation existing between them.

A microflare or a group of Ellerman bombs was found to be associated with several points of white-light enhancements. These points had similar sizes as facular points (d 0.3 arc sec). Temporal evolution of these activities is described. Origins of these activities are discussed to be deeply seated excess heating in chromospheric and photospheric levels.  相似文献

Chondrule formation due to the shock wave heating of dust particles with a wide variety of shock properties are examined. We numerically simulate the steady postshock region in a framework of one-dimensional hydrodynamics, taking into account many of the physical and chemical processes that determine the properties of the region, especially nonequilibrium chemical reactions of gas species. We mainly focus on the dust particle shrinkage due to the evaporation in the postshock hot gas and the precursor size conditions for chondrule formation. We find that the small precursors whose radii are smaller than a critical value, , cannot form chondrules because they evaporate away completely in the postshock region. The minimum value of is about 10 μm, though it depends on the shock speed and the preshock gas density. Furthermore, we demonstrate the chondrule size distributions which are formed through the shock-wave heating. These results indicate that the shock-wave heating model can be regarded as a strong candidate for the mechanism of chondrule formation.  相似文献

We define superthermal plasma nodules as bright points (diameter 20), visible on high resolution X-ray heliograms. Flares appear to show a strong tendency to occur at the places of these nodules. There are indications that (part of) the hot plasma produced by consecutive flares is accumulated and confined in the superthermal plasma nodules, and that with increasing energy content of a nodule the probability for a drastic change of its magnetic structure increases, thus reducing the possibility for more flares to occur.  相似文献

Distributions of vertical electric current density (J z) calculated from vector measurements of the photospheric magnetic field are compared with ultraviolet spectroheliograms to investigate whether resistive heating is an important source of enhanced emission in the transition region. The photospheric magnetic fields in Active Region 2372 were measured on 6 and 7 April, 1980 with the MSFC vector magnetograph; ultraviolet wavelength spectroheliograms (L and Nv 1239 Å) were obtained with the UVSP experiment aboard the Solar Maximum Mission satellite. Spatial registration of the J z (5 arc sec resolution) and UV (3 arc sec resolution) maps indicates that the maximum current density is cospatial with a minor but persistent UV enhancement, but there is little detected current associated with other nearby bright areas. We conclude that although resistive heating may be important in the transition region, the currents responsible for the heating are largely unresolved in our measurements and have no simple correlation with the residual current measured on 5 arc sec scales.National Research Council Resident Research Associate.National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Space Environment Laboratory; currently at MSFC/SSL.  相似文献
