On the basis of radial velocity and Hipparcos proper motion data, we have analyzed the galactic kinematics of classical Cepheids. Using the 3-D Ogorodnikov-Milne model we have determined the rotational velocity of the Galaxy to be V0 = 240.5 ± 10.2 km/s, on assuming a glactocentric distance of the Sun of R0 = 8.5 kpc. The results clearly indicate a contracting motion in the solar neighbourhood of (∂Vθ∂θ)/R = −2.60 ± 1.07 km s−1 kpc−1, along the direction of galactic rotation. Possible reason for this motion is discussed. The solar motion found here is S = 18.78 ± 0.86 km/s in the direction l = 54.4° ± 2.9° and b = +26.6° ± 2.6°.  相似文献

Intensified Reticon spectra have been obtained at a high dispersion for the Algol system, RT Persei. They were measured by the cross-correlation technique. The spectroscopic elements, revised for the primary component and determined for the secondary for the first time, are: T0 = HJD 2,446,038.9332, K1 = 55.0, K2 = 194.7, V0 = −8.3 km/s. A mass ratio q = m2/m1 = 0.282 is deduced. A circular orbit is adopted. The spectrum of the primary is F5V, and the secondary is a subgiant. With the elements determined here and the published photometric parameters, the absolute dimensions of the binary are: A = 4.20, R1 = 1.20, R2 = 1.08 R; M1 = 1.08, M2 = 0.30 M.  相似文献

We analyze an extended redshift sample of Abell/ACO clusters and compare the results with those coming from numerical simulations of the cluster distribution, based on the truncated Zel'dovich approximation (TZA), for a list of eleven dark matter (DM) models. For each model we run several realizations, so that we generate a set of 48 independent mock Abell/ACO cluster samples per model, on which we estimate cosmic variance effects. Other than the standard CDM model, we consider (a) Ω0 = 1 CDM models based on lowering the Hubble parameter and/or on tilting the primordial spectrum; (b) Ω0 = 1 Cold + Hot DM models with 0.1 ≤Ων ≤0.5; (c) low-density flat ΛCDM models with 0.3 ≤Ω0 ≤0.5. We compare real and simulated cluster distributions by analysing correlation statistics, the probability density function, and supercluster properties from percolation analysis. We introduce a generalized definition of the spectrum shape parameter Γ in terms of σ25/σ8, where σris the rms fluctuation amplitude within a sphere of radius r. As a general result, we find that the distribution of galaxy clusters provides a constraint only on the shape of the power spectrum, but not on its amplitude: a shape parameter 0.18 Γ 0.25 and an effective spectral index at the 20 h−1 Mpc scale −1.1 neff −0.9 are required by the Abell/ACO data. In order to obtain complementary constraints on the spectrum amplitude, we consider the cluster abundance as estimated using the Press-Schechter approach, whose reliability is explicitly tested against N-body simulations. By combining results from the analysis of the distribution and the abundance of clusters we conclude that, of the cosmological models considered here, the only viable models are either Cold + Hot DM ones with 0.2 Ων 0.3, better if shared between two massive ν species, and ΛCDM ones with 0.3 Ω00.5.  相似文献

We used the 13.7 m millimeter-wave telescope of the Qinghai Station of Purple Mountain Observatory at Delingha to carry out simultaneous mapping observations in the 12CO(J = 1 − 0), 13CO(J = 1 − 0) and CO18 (J = 1 − 0) lines towards 11 isolated star-forming molecular cores selected from the sample of Spitzer's c2d program. For all three lines, these sources were all observed to the positions of half the peak intensity of the 13CO(J = 1 − 0) line. The volume density, local thermodynamic equilibrium mass MLTE and virial mass MVIR were derived for each of the molecular cores. The obtained ratio of MVIR to MLTE is 0.85 ± 0.40 for the 13CO(J = 1 − 0) cores and 0.77 ± 0.35 for the CO18 (J = 1 − 0) cores. The density profiles of the cloud cores were also calculated.  相似文献

AC Cnc is a nova-like, eclipsing binary of period 7h13m. I chose it for observation because its eclipses are rather symmetrical. A photometric solution gives inclination i = 74.5° ± 0.8°, mass of white dwarf M1 = 0.74 ± 0.07 M, mass of the late-type companion, M2 = 0.97 ± 0.8 M. Temperature of the accretion disk varies approximately as inverse half-power of the radial distance, the temperature at the edge of the disk is 7600 K. Rate of mass transfer from the late-type star to the white dwarf is 7(−9) M/yr. The distance of AC Cnc is 500 ± 100 pc.  相似文献

From the photometric and spectroscopic data on AA UMa obtained by us in 1987 and 1986 and using the Wilson-Devinney program, we made a simultaneous solution. We found mass-ratio q = 1. 8157 ± 0.0099, M1 = 0.85 M, M2 = 1. 55 M , A = 3.39 R , R1 = 1.50 R , and degree of over-contact f = 0.15 ± 0.01. Adding six minimum times obtained by us to the literature, a new epoch formula is derived: Min.I(J.D.Hel) = 2 446 885.1119+0.468 125 83 E.  相似文献

If neutrinos have mass, we give reasons for a possible pattern of three (squaed) mass eigenvalues: m12 (2.8−5.8) (eV)2, m22 0.01 (eV)2, m32 (1.5−1) × 10−4 (eV)2. The flavor states νμ and νe are mixtures of the eigenstates with m2 and m3 with a significant mixing, corresponding to an effective mixing angle of about 0.45. The ντ is nearly the state with m1; the other two effective mixing angles are about an order of magnitude smaller than 0.45. There is a marked similarity to mixing in the quark sector.  相似文献

A numerical analysis of cyclotron instabilities is carried out by computing the dispersion relation for a three component cold plasma-beam system. Rates of growth and damping for various values of the stream density are calculated from the dispersion relation. The rates of growth and damping increase monotonically as the number density of the proton stream increases. It is found that the frequencies at the rates of maximum growth and the damping decrease slightly to lower frequencies and a sharp peak at these frequencies becomes blunt. The minimum e-folding times of an ion cyclotron wave for (a) σs = 10−4, σi = 10−2 and (b) σs = 10−1, σi = 10−2 are about 3·84 and 0·16 sec respectively in the vicinity of the equatorial plane at 6 Re, where σs and σi are the ratios of the beam density Ns and the helium ion (H6+) density Ni to the total positive ions in the plasma-beam system.  相似文献

The MSX infrared dark cloud G79.2+0.38 has been observed over a 11′×′ region simultaneously in the J=1-0 rotational transition lines of the 12CO and its isotopic molecules 13CO and 18CO. The dense molecular cores defined by the C18O line are found to be associated with the two high-extinction patches shown in the MSX A-band image. The two dense cores have the column density N (H2) (5 – 12) × 1022 cm−2 and the mean number density n (3 ± 1) × 104 cm−3. Their sizes are 1.7 and 1.2 pc in 13CO(1-0) line, 1.2 and 0.6 pc in C18O(1-0) line, respectively. The masses of these cloud cores are estimated to be in the range from 2 × 102 to 2 × 103 M. The profile of radial mean density of the cloud core can be described by the exponential function ¯n(p) p−0.34±0.02. Compared with the cases of typical optical dark clouds, the abundances of the CO isotopic molecules 13CO and C18O in this MSX infrared dark cloud appear to be depleted by a factor of 4–11, but at present there is no evidence for any obvious variation of the relative abundance ratio X13/18 between 13CO and C18O with the column density.  相似文献

Helioseismological sound-speed profiles severely constrain possible deviations from standard solar models, allowing us to derive new limits on anomalous solar energy losses by the Primakoff emission of axions. For an axion-photon coupling gay 5 × 10−10 GeV−1, the solar model is almost indistinguishable from the standard case, while gay 10 × 10−10 GeV−1 is probably excluded, corresponding to an axion luminosity of about 0.20 L. This constraint on gay is much weaker than the well-known globular-cluster limit, but about a factor of 3 more restrictive than previous solar limits. Our result is primarily of interest to the large number of current or proposed search experiments for solar axions because our limit defines the maximum gay for which it is self-consistent to use a standard solar model to calculate the axion luminosity.  相似文献

The diameter-velocity dispersion relation in B, V, and K for three early-type galaxies in the Leo I (M96) group is derived from published photometry and kinematic data. The relations in all three colors have slopes which agree well with those for the Coma cluster. The RMS scatter of the Leo I galaxies in each color is extremely small, consistent with the group's compactness. These relations yield estimates of the Coma-Leo I distance ratio of 9.01 ± 0.51, 8.77 ± 0.43, and 8.82 ± 0.31, respectively, with a weighted mean of 8.84 ± 0.23. The general agreement among the three colors indicates that the early-type galaxies in Leo I and Coma have similar stellar populations.

The Coma-Leo I distance ratio coupled with estimates of the absolute distance to the Leo I group allows the Hubble constant to be determined, free of the uncertainties which arise when working with the Virgo cluster. Several high quality distance estimates are available from a variety of techniques: Cepheids in M96 (Tanvir, N.R., et al., 1995, Natur, 377, 27) and M95 (Graham, J.A., et al., 1997, ApJ, 477, 535), surface brightness fluctuations (Tonry, J.L., et al., 1997, ApJ, 475, 399), planetary nebulae luminosity functions (Ciardullo, R., et al., 1993, ApJ, 419, 479), and the luminosity of the red giant branch tip (Sakai, S., Freedman, W.L., & Madore, B.F., 1996, in: Formation of the Galactic Halo, Inside and Out, eds. H. Morrison & A. Sarajedini, PASP Conf. Series Vol. 92). Adopting a cosmic recession velocity of the Coma cluster in the microwave background frame of 7200 ± 300 km s−1, these distance estimates lead to values of the Hubble constant ranging from 70 to 81 km s−1 Mpc−1, with an unweighted mean of 75 ± 6 km s−1 Mpc−1.  相似文献

We further discussed the Modified Mean Field Theory proposed in [1,2]. We found that this model has a new solution ml = 2; adding -meson, we calculated the symmetric energy of nuclear matter a4; with the new parameters we calculated the equations of state with and without the addition of -meson; we compared the two; we also compared with the results for ml = 4.3; we made a preliminary theoretical investigation of the form of the vector meson mean field using the two-body correlation function; lastly, using the structural equation of neutron star we calculated the maximum mass for the various equations of state. The results are:
MMFT-2 (ml = 2): Mmax = 2.22M (without -meson) Mmax = 2.27M (with -meson)
MMFT-1 (ml = 4.3): Mmax = 1.69M (without -meson) Mmax = 1.89M (with -meson)

Using the 13.7 m millimeter-wave telescope at the Qinghai Station of Purple Mountain Observatory, we have made observations of 13CO, C18O, HCO+ and N2H+ molecular lines towards IRAS 02232+6138. As the excitation density of the probe molecule increases from 13CO to HCO+, the size of the cloud core associated with IRAS 02232+6138 decreases from 2.40 pc to 0.54 pc, and the virial mass of the cloud core decreases from 2.2 × 103M to 5.1 × 102M. A bipolar molecular outflow is found towards IRAS 02232+6138. Using the power function n(r) ∝ r to fit the spatial density structure of the cloud core, we obtain the power-law index  = 2.3 − 1.2; and we find that, as the probed density increases, the power function becomes more flat. The abundance ratio of 13CO to C18O is 12.4 ± 6.9, comparable with the values 11.8 ± 5.9 for dark clouds and the values 9.0–15.6 for massive cores. The abundance of N2H+ molecules is 3.5 ± 2.5 × 10−10, consistent with the value 1.0 − 5.0 × 10−10 for dark cloud cores and the value 1.2 − 12.8 × 10−10 for massive cores. The abundance of HCO+ molecules is 0.9 ± 0.5 × 10−9, close to the value 1.6 − 2.4 × 10−9 for massive cores. An increase of HCO+ abundance in the outflow region was not found. Combining with the IRAS data, the luminosity-mass ratio of the cloud core is obtained in the range 37–163(L/M). Based on the IRAS luminosity, it is estimated that a main-sequence O7.5 star is probably embedded in the IRAS 02232+6138 cloud core.  相似文献

It is greatly expected that the relic neutrino background from past supernovae will be detected by Superkamiokande (SK) which is now under construction. We calculate the spectrum and the event rate at SK systematically by using the results of simulations of a supernova explosion and reasonable supernova rates. We also investigate the effect of a cosmological constant, Λ, on the spectrum, since some recent cosmological observations strongly suggest the existence of Λ. We find following results. (1) The spectrum has a peak at about 3 MeV, which is much lower than that of previous estimates (6–10 MeV). (2) The event rate at SK in the range from 10 MeV to 50 MeV, where the relic neutrinos from past supernovae are dominant, is about 25h502(RSN/0.1 yr−1)(nGh50−3/0.02 Mpc−3) events per year, where RSN is the supernova rate in a galaxy, nG is the number density of galaxies, and h50 = H0/(50 km/s Mpc), where H0 is the Hubble constant. (3) The event rate is almost insensitive to Λ. The flux increases in the low energy side (< 10 MeV) with increasing Λ, but decreases in the high energy side (> 10 MeV) in models in which the integrated number of supernovae in one galaxy is fixed.  相似文献

The orbit of Intercosmos 13 rocket (1975-22B) has been determined at 103 epochs between 30 April 1975 and 10 April 1980 from almost 7000 observations. One hundred and three values of inclination have been determined and corrections incoporated for the effects due to zonal harmonic, lunisolar and tesseral harmonic perturbations, precession, and solid Earth tides. The modified data have been analysed to yield values of the atmospheric rotation rate, Λ rev day−1, viz. Λ = 0.94 ± 0.10 at an average height of 322 ± 6 km and Λ = 1.27 ± 0.02 at 288 km. Analysis of the inclination near 14th-order resonance has indicated lumped harmonic values 109 1.01.4 = − 76.13 ± 12.47, 109 1,014 = − 29.89 ± 32.64, 109 −1.214 = − 63.11 ± 15.44 109 −1.214 = − 32.52 ± 26.96, for inclination 82.952°.  相似文献

The odd zonal harmonics in the Earth's gravitational potential are determined by analysing the changes in the eccentricities of six satellites having orbital inclinations spaced as uniformly as possible between 28° and 96°. The most satisfactory representation of the potential is found to be in terms of four coefficients, and their values are, in the usual notation: 106J3 = −2.56, 106J5 = −0.15, 106J7 = −0.44, 106J9 = 0.12. The resulting potential is compared with that obtained by other authors. Three and five-coefficient solutions are also presented.  相似文献

Radio noise observations at frequencies of 0·700 Mc and 2·200 Mc were made at altitudes between 3000 and 11,000 km from a Blue Scout Jr. high-altitude rocket probe on 30 July 1963. A steady background flux of (7·5−3+6) × 10−19 W m−2)(c/s)−1 at 0·700 Mc and (1·8+1.0−0.5 × 10−19 W m−2 (c/s)−1 at 2·200 Mc was observed. Assuming a galactic origin of the observed fluxes at both frequencies, the averaged sky brightnesses are b(0·700 Mc) = (6−3+5) × 10−20 W m−2 (c/s)−1 sr−1b(2·200 Mc) = (1.4+1.0−0.5 × 10−20 W m−2 (c/s)−1 sr−1 The observed brightness at 2·200 Mc is in reasonable agreement with the results of other observers. The apparent brightness at 0·700 Mc is, however, greater than was expected from previous observations. An alternative source of the 0·700 Mc flux in the terrestrial exosphere, as well as characteristics of several noise bursts observed during the flight, is briefly discussed.  相似文献

It is found that the mass loss rate derived from S25/S12 is generally greater than that from the OH flux. This suggests an increasing loss rate with time. It is found that the gas-to-dust ratio decreases during the evolution Of OH/IR stars. An empirical relation between the gas-to-dust ratio and the dust mass loss rate is derived, leading to a formula for calculating the total mass loss rate directly from the IRAS 60 μm flux. OH/IR stars with silicate emission have a larger range of mass loss ratio, from 10−7 to 10−5 M/yr; those with silicate absorption, a smaller range between 10−5 and 10−4 M/yr. So a large increase in the mass loss rate takes place during the emission phase.  相似文献

We have determined for the first time a spectroscopic orbit for WX Cnc. The orbital elements are V0 = +9.8 km/s, k1 = 110.2 km/s, K2 = 149.0 km/s, To = HJD 2446 480.0309. After combining with the published photometric results, we derive the the following absolute parameters: A = 6.32R, R1 = 1.53R, R2=1.18R, M1 = 1.29 M, M2 = 0.96M. The spectroscopic mass-ratio is q = 0.74.  相似文献

Using the proper motion and parallax data for 1011 O-B stars in the Hipparcos Catalogue we have derived the Oort constants, A = 17.60 ± 0.21 (km/s)/kpc, B = −14.62 ± 0.20 (km/s)/kpc, and a solar velocity V = 16.7 ± 0.10 km/s in the direction l = 45.3° ± 2.8°, b = 21.0° ± 2.3°. For a galactocentric distance of the sun of R0 = 8.5 kpc, we then get a galactic rotational velocity of the solar neighbourhood of Vlsr = 273.9 km/s, obviously much higher than the IAU published value of 220 km/s. We have investigated the cause for this difference.  相似文献
