We investigate the possibility of detecting the circumstellar Na I D1,2 and Ca II H, K absorption lines in the spectra of type IIP supernovae at the photospheric phase. Our modeling shows that the Na I doublet lines will not be seen in the spectra of type IIP supernovae at moderate stellar wind densities, for example, characteristic of SN 1999em, while the rather intense Ca II lines with P Cyg profiles should be detectable. The same model is used to describe the circumstellar Na I and Ca II lines in the spectrum of SN 1998S, a type IIL supernova with a dense wind. We show that the circumstellar line intensities in this supernova are reproduced only if there is an ultraviolet excess that is mainly attributable to the Comptonization of supernova radiation in the shock wave.  相似文献

The behavior of profiles of the Na I D line and of the infrared Ca II triplet for the star R Coronae Borealis (R CrB) during shallow light minima of 1998-1999 is traced using high-resolution spectra. During a light maximum, the sodium lines had an absorption profile with a shift of —(2-4) km/sec. During a light minimum, a narrow emission feature, which has an almost constant absolute intensity and a shift of —(8-10) km/sec, and an intense circumstellar absorption feature, which has a variable profile and a variable relative shift corresponding to an increase to 220 km/sec in the velocity of mass ejection, appeared in the cores of absorption lines. For several days before the onset of a light minimum, all three calcium lines exhibited a narrow emission feature in the line core with a shift of —(1-5) km/sec. All the subsequent changes in a line involved mainly the shape of the absorption line profile. The narrow emission feature's absolute intensity and relative position were maintained during all our observations. The behavior of the Na I D line profiles can be described qualitatively within the framework of the model of a spherical dust shell.  相似文献

We have mapped surface inhomogeneities on the classical T Tauri star DF Tau, using the Li  i doublet at 670.8 nm, the Ca  i lines at 612.2 nm and 643.9 nm and a calcium and iron blend at 646.3 nm. We find compelling evidence that there are hotspots with temperatures of more than 5000 K. Two of the hotspots produce line-profile deformations that can be traced as they move through the cross-correlated profiles. When one of the hotspots crosses the stellar disc, redshifted absorption components appear in the Na D lines. As these redshifted absorption features are usually tracers for mass-infall we interpret this hotspot as an accretion shock close to the stellar surface.   Parts of the surface of DF Tau are covered with a hot chromosphere that is visible in the Ca  ii infrared triplet lines and the narrow component of He  i . We find no correlation between the veiling and the lines that originate from the hot chromosphere, suggesting that the veiling and the chromospheric emission are produced in physically distinct regions.  相似文献

The ultraviolet spectra of the stars RY Tau and HD 115043 from the Hubble Space Telescope are analyzed. RY Tau belongs to the classical T Tauri stars, while HD 115043 is a young (t~3×108 years), chromospherically active star. The most intense emission lines were identified, and their fluxes were measured. Low-resolution spectra of RY Tau and HD 115043 in the wavelength range 1160–1760 Å exhibit almost the same set of emission lines. However, first, the luminosity of RY Tau in these lines is approximately a factor of 300 higher than that of HD 115043, and, second, the relative line intensities differ greatly. The intensity ratio of the C IV λ1550, Si IV λ1400, and NV λ1240 doublet components is close to 1: 2 in the spectra of both stars. Judging by the continuum energy distribution, the spectral type of RY Tau is later than that of HD 115043. Synchronous flux variability in the C IV λ1550 and He II λ1640 lines in a time of ~20 min was detected in RY Tau. The flux rise in these lines was accompanied by a redshift of the intensity peak in the profiles by~50 km s?1. Intermediate-resolution spectra are used to study line profiles in the spectrum of RY Tau. In particular, the profiles of (optically thin) Si III]λ1892 and C III]λ1909 lines were found to be asymmetric and about 300 km s?1 in width. The (optically thick) C IV λ1550 doublet lines have similar profiles. The Mg II λ2800 doublet lines are also asymmetric, but their shape is different: they consist of a broad (?750 km s?1 at the base) emission component on which an interstellar absorption line shifted from the line symmetry center by about 20 km s?1 is superimposed. The intensity ratio of the Mg II λ2800 doublet components is?1.4. Whether there are molecular hydrogen lines in the spectrum of RY Tau is still an open question. It is shown that the emission lines in the ultraviolet spectrum of RY Tau cannot originate in a hydrostatically equilibrium chromosphere. It is argued that quasi-steady accretion of circumstellar matter is responsible for the emission.  相似文献

A model of the R CrB star chromosphere is calculated on the basis of the observed profiles of the Ca II H and K lines and IR triplet and D lines of Na I and H-alpha. The calculated profiles of Ca II H and K lines and IR triplet and H-alpha are in good agreement with the observed ones both for an undisturbed state and for the light minimum. The line profiles for the light minimum are calculated under the assumption that the minimum is attributed to obscuring of the star disc with a dust cloud. In this case, the chromosphere is not hydrostatic since the column density at the chromosphere base is two orders of magnitude higher as compared to that in a hydrostatic model. The model proposed is more extended, less dense at the chromosphere base, and denser in the upper chromosphere. The extension of the calculated chromosphere is about 3 star radii. The density in the chromosphere is 108–1010 atoms per 1 cm3 and the temperature is 5000–7000 K. Agreement of the calculated and observed profiles of Na I D absorption lines is possible if we assume that, around the star, there is a cold envelope containing Na I atoms which expands with a velocity of about 30 km/s. This envelope is beyond the chromosphere, but near enough for the star and the envelope to be observed as a single whole. The optical thickness of the envelope in the Na I D2 line is 1.8. At the brightness minimum, this envelope illuminated with the star light yields additional emission attributed to resonant scattering in the Na I D lines.  相似文献

The results of the high-resolution long-term spectral monitoring of the Herbig Ae star HD 31648 in the regions of emission Hα line, Na I D resonance lines and OI 7774 lines are presented. We confirmed the conclusion, made in previous papers, that the spectral variability of the star in the region of Hα line have a cyclic character. It is manifested itself as the changing of the equivalent width and intensity of Hα line of the time scale of about 1200d. It is shown, that the stellar wind is non-homogeneous and consists of several components, which are differed each other by their velocities. They are observed as in the H line as in Na I D resonance lines. The component’s parameters are changed during the cycle of stellar activity (in the maximum of activity the velocity and density of the wind are taken the largest values and then they are gradually decreased). The investigation of rapid variability of the He I 5876 line on the time scale of a few hours allows find the correlation between the variability of the blue and the red wings of the line. It points at the connection between the accretion and the outflows. Such connection, in particularly, is predicted by the modeling of the wind from young stars made in the frame of the magneto-centrifugal model, the accordance of which for the HD 31648 was shown in the previous papers. In the present work we confirmed this conclusion on the basis of the new data. We found the weak variability of the stellar brightness (about 0.2m), which is agree with the spectral variability (the brightness of the star becomes lower in the maximum of the activity). These changes are well explained by the process of the dust transfer from CS disk by the stellar wind. This process is likely to be more effective in the maximum of activity. An analysis of the variability of other spectral lines shows the agreement between the changing of the Hα line, the Na I D resonance doublet lines and KI 7698 line. The weak connection between the He I 5876 and the Na I D lines is also found. Since the formation regions of He I 5876 and Na I D lines are essentially different, we can conclude that the phenomena, responsible for the observed cyclic variability, take place in a spacious region of the CS envelope. The ultraviolet spectra of the star RU Lup obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope are analyzed. Emission lines are identified. The presence of absorption components with a nearly zero residual intensity in the Mg II resonance doublet lines is indicative of mass outflow with a velocity V ?300 km s?1. These lines also exhibit a broad (?1400 km s?1 at the base) component originating in the star itself. The profiles of the (optically thin) Si II] and Si III]1892 Å lines for the first time unequivocally prove that these lines originate in an accretion shock wave rather than in the chromosphere, with the gas infall velocity being V 0?400 km s?1. The intensity ratio of the C IV 1550 Å and Si IV 1400 Å resonance doublet components was found to be close to unity, suggesting a high accreted-gas density, logN 0>12.5. Molecular H2 Lyman lines formed in the stellar wind were detected. The H I Lα luminosity of RU Lup was found from their intensities to exceed 10% of L bol. Radiation pressure in the Lα line on atomic hydrogen may play a significant role in the initial acceleration of stellar-wind matter, but the effect of Lα emission on the dynamics of molecular gas is negligible.  相似文献

We carried out spectroscopic observations of the candidate black hole binary GX 339−4 during its low–hard and high–soft X-ray states. We have found that the spectrum is dominated by emission lines of neutral elements with asymmetric, round-topped profiles in the low–hard state. In the high–soft state, however, the emission lines from both neutral and ionized elements have unambiguously resolved double-peaked profiles. The detection of double-peaked emission lines in the high–soft state, with a larger peak separation for higher ionization lines, indicates the presence of an irradiatively heated accretion disc. The round-topped lines in the low–hard state are probably caused by a dense matter outflow from an inflated non-Keplerian accretion disc. Our data do not show velocity modulations of the line centres caused by the orbital motion of the compact object, neither do the line basewidths show substantial variations in each observational epoch. There are no detectable absorption lines from the companion star. All these features are consistent with those of a system with a low-mass companion star and low orbital inclination.  相似文献

Based on 21 spectra with resolutions from 12 000 to 42 000 taken in 1997–2016 for the yellow supergiant α Aqr (which is believed to be nonvariable in the Cepheid instability strip), we have determined its effective temperature Teff and radial velocities from metal and hydrogen absorption lines. Blue and red components that account for 20–25% of the total number of lines used have been detected in the profiles of these lines. The effective temperature and radial velocities estimated from metal lines and their components do not show any noticeable variations, while the radial velocities determined from hydrogen lines show variations that are largest for the Hα line, with an amplitude of more than 10 km s?1. These variations resemble periodic (~100 days) and sporadic ones. The presence of variable red components in the hydrogen line cores confirms that there is a circumstellar envelope around the supergiant. The radial velocities of these components exhibit a behavior similar to that of the hydrogen lines but with larger amplitudes (it is twice that for the R component of the Hα line). Such an unusual variability as well as the presence of blue components in metal lines and the star’s position at the red edge of the Cepheid instability strip can be explained by a possible residual pulsational activity in the upper atmospheric layers of the star, which “swings” the envelope with a larger amplitude when passing into a less dense medium. The multicomponent structure of the Na I D doublet lines and their variations over long time intervals may be indicative of a chromospheric activity and a change in the stellar wind intensity. These processes can affect the sporadic variations of the radial velocities in the upper atmospheric layers of the star and its envelope. We raise the question about a revision of the classification of α Aqr as a yellow nonvariable supergiant.  相似文献

We present our synchronous spectroscopy and photometry of DI Cep, a classical T Tauri star. The equivalent widths and radial velocities of the individual components and Hα, Hβ, D1 and D2 Na I, and HeI λ5876 Å emission line profiles exhibit variability. We have found a clear positive correlation between the brightness and equivalent width for the Hα and Hβ emission lines. The photometric and spectroscopic data are satisfactorily described in phases of a 9-day period. The expected magnetic field of the star has been estimated using existing magnetospheric models to be 655–1000 G. The star is suspected to be a binary.  相似文献

We consider resonant absorption in a spectral line in the outflowing plasma within several tens of Schwarzschild radii from a compact object. We take into account both Doppler and gravitational shifting effects and reformulate the theory of P Cygni profiles in these new circumstances. It is found that a spectral line may have multiple absorption and emission components depending on how far the region of interaction is from the compact object and what the distribution of velocity and opacity is. Profiles of spectral lines produced near a neutron star or a black hole can be strongly distorted by Doppler blue- or redshifting and gravitational redshifting. These profiles may have both red- and blueshifted absorption troughs. The result should be contrasted with classical P Cygni profiles, which consist of redshifted emission and blueshifted absorption features.
We suggest that this property of line profiles to have complicated narrow absorption and emission components in the presence of strong gravity may help researchers to study spectroscopically the innermost parts of an outflow.  相似文献

The results of six years of spectroscopic studies of the Herbig Be star IL Cep (HD216629) are reported. Various spectral parameters of the Hα and Hβ emission lines and those of the He I λ 5876 Å absorption feature are found for the first time to have exhibited slow variations in 2006–2011 and to have reached their extrema in 2009–2010. The Na I D1 and D2 lines reproduce, in a weaker form, the Hα radialvelocity variations. It is suggested that the variations found in the spectrum of the star may be due to the presence of additional bodies in the system.  相似文献

Optical spectra taken in 1997–2008 are used to analyze the spectral peculiarities and velocity field in the atmosphere of the peculiar supergiant 3 Pup. The profiles of strong Fe II lines and of the lines of other iron-group ions have a specific shape: the wings are raised by emissions, whereas the core is sharpened by a depression. The latter feature becomes more pronounced with the increasing line strength, and the increasing wavelength. Line profiles are variable: the magnitude and sign of the absorption asymmetry, and the blue-to-red emission intensity ratios vary from one spectrum to another. The temporal Vr variations are minimal for the forbidden emissions and sharp shell cores of the absorption features of FeII(42), and other strong lines of iron-group ions. The average velocity for the above lines can be adopted as the systemic velocity: Vsys = 28.5 ± 0.5 km/s. The weakest photospheric absorptions and photospheric MgII, Si II absorptions exhibit well-defined day-to-day velocity variations of up to 7 km/s. Quantitative spectral classification yields the spectral type of A2.7±0.3 Ib. The equivalent widths and profiles of Hδ and Hγ, and the equivalent width of the OI 7774 Å triplet yield an absolute magnitude estimate of Mv=?5.5m ± 0.3m, implying the heliocentric distance of 0.7 kpc.  相似文献

We determine abundances from the absorption spectrum of the magnetic Herbig Ae star HD 190073 (V1295 Aql). The observations are primarily from HARPS spectra obtained at a single epoch. We accept arguments that the presence of numerous emission lines does not vitiate a classical abundance analysis, though it likely reduces the achievable accuracy. Most abundances are closely solar, but several elements show departures of a factor of two to three, as an earlier study has also shown. We present quantitative measurements of more than 60 emission lines, peak intensities, equivalent widths, and FWHM's. The latter range from over 200 km s–1(Hα, He D3) down to 10–20 km s–1(forbidden lines). Metallic emission lines have intermediate widths. We eschew modeling, and content ourselves with a presentation of the observations a successful model must explain. Low‐excitation features such as the Na I D‐lines and [O I] appear with He I D3, suggesting proximate regions with widely differing Te and Ne as found in the solar chromosphere. Axial rotation of a star plays an important role in its evolution, physical conditions in its atmosphere and the appearance of its spectrum. We analyzed CCD spectra of nine stars for which the projected rotational velocity derived from the Ca II line at λ 3933 Å was remarkably lower than the one derived from the MgII line at λ 4481 Å. We derived effective temperatures and surface gravities using published uvbyβ photometries, and computed synthetic spectra. Comparing the observed line profiles of the two lines with the computed ones, we estimated the values of v sin i. One of the stars, HD44783, is a Be-star which, besides the narrow absorptions in the spectrum originating in its circumstellar envelope, also has lines of interstellar origin. We also found indications of circumstellar matter in the spectrum of HD25152. In the spectra of the remaining seven stars the narrow components in the Ca II λ 3933 Å line as well as narrow absorptions in the Na I λ 5889.951 Å (D1) and λ 5895.924 Å (D2) lines are of interstellar origin. In HD114376 there are two systems of interstellar components, thus disclosing two different interstellar clouds in the direction of the star. In the spectrum of HD138527 signs of a possible companion were detected, the emission of which contributes 15% to the total light of the system.  相似文献

High-resolution CCD spectra have been obtained for the first time for the W Virginis star V1 (K 307) in the globular cluster M12 and its closest neighbor K 307b (m pg=14m; the angular distance from the W Vir star is δ<1 arcsec). We determined the fundamental parameters (T eff=5600 K, logg=1.3, and T eff=4200 K, logg=1.0 for the W Vir star and the neighboring star, respectively) and their detailed chemical composition. The derived metallicities of the two stars ([Fe/H]=?1.27 and ?1.22 relative to the solar value) are in good agreement with the metallicities of other cluster members. Changed CNO abundances were found in the atmosphere of the W Vir star: a small carbon overabundance, [C/Fe]=+0.30 dex, and a large nitrogen overabundance, [N/Fe]=+1.15 dex, with oxygen being underabundant, [O/Fe]≈?0.2 dex. The C/O ratio is ≥1. Na and the α-process elements Mg, Al, Si, Ca, and Ti are variously enhanced with respect to iron. We found an enhanced abundance of s-process metals relative to iron: [X/Fe]=+0.34 for Y, Zr, and Ba. The overabundance of the heavier metals La, Ce, and Nd with respect to iron is larger: [X/Fe]=+0.49. The largest overabundance was found for the r-process element europium, [Eu/Fe]=+0.82. The spectrum of the W Vir star exhibits the Hα and Hβ absorption-emission profiles and the He I λ5876 Å emission line, which are traditionally interpreted as a result of shock passage in the atmosphere. However, the radial velocities determined from absorption and emission features are in conflict with the formation pattern of a strong shock. The high luminosity log L/L = 2.98, the chemica peculiarities, and the spectral peculiarity are consistent with the post-AGB evolution in the instability strip. The pattern of relative elemental abundances [X/Fe]in the atmosphere of the neighboring star K 307b is solar. Statistically significant differences were found only for sodium and α-process elements: the mean overabundance of light metals is [X/Fe]=+0.35.  相似文献

A spectrum of a sunspot in the range of the Li I ?? 670.8 nm line and some lines of Ca I, Ti I, Al I, and Na I was measured. Observations were carried out with the TST-2 telescope of the Crimean astrophysical observatory on August 21, 1981. A model of the spot was calculated from the observed profiles of the Ca I, Ti I, Al I, and Na I lines. From the calculated model and the observed profile of the Li I ?? 670.8 nm line, the lithium abundance was estimated as log(N Li) = 0.78 (in the scale of logA(H)= 12.0).  相似文献

We consider the possibility of the excitation of sodium resonance emission in cometary matter under solar radiation at a heliocentric distance of 5 AU, as was observed when a fragment of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 plunged into Jupiter. When the sodium emission is calculated, the multiple scattering in the cometary cloud is taken into account. We use a non-LTE radiative transfer code for a two-level model sodium atom. A comparison of the computed and observed Na I D emission line profiles allows the column density of the sodium atoms for specific times of observations of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 to be determined. The observed Na I(D1+D2) line profile was found to agree well with the computed profile for an optically thick sodium cloud. We calculated the column density of the sodium atoms for three comets from the observed intensity of the D2 line emission. We also calculated the D2/D1 intensity ratio for various optical depths of the sodium cloud and various phase angles.  相似文献

We present photoelectric and spectroscopic observations of the protoplanetary object V 1853 Cyg, a B supergiant with an IR excess. Over two years of its observations, the star exhibited rapid irregular light variations with amplitudes $\Delta V = 0\mathop .\limits^m 3$ , $\Delta B = 0\mathop .\limits^m 3$ , $\Delta U = 0\mathop .\limits^m 4$ and no correlation between color and magnitude. Its mean magnitude has not changed since the first UBV observations in 1973 (Drilling 1975). Low-resolution spectroscopic observations show that the spectrum of V 1853 Cyg in 2000 corresponded to that of a B1–B2 star with T eff ~ 20000 K. High-resolution spectroscopic observations confirm the conclusion that the profiles of absorption and emission lines are variable. We identified the star’s spectral lines and measured the equivalent widths of more than 40 lines. The star’s radial velocity is 〈V r 〉= ?49 × 5 km s?1, as measured from absorption lines, and ranges from–50 to–85 km s–1 for different lines, as measured from shell emission lines. The velocity of the dust clouds on the line of sight determined from diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) and from interstellar Na I lines is 〈V r 〉= ?16 × 5 km s?1. The P Cyg profiles of the He I λ5876 Å and λ6678 Å lines suggest an ongoing mass loss by the star. An analysis of the observational data confirms the conclusion that the star belongs to the class of intermediatemass protoplanetary objects.  相似文献

The formation of circumstellar Na I and Ca II resonance absorption lines in a type Ia supernova is studied in the case where the supernova explodes in a binary system with a red giant. The model suggests a spherically symmetric wind and takes into account the nonstationary ionization and heating of the wind by X rays from the shock wave and by gamma rays from radioactive 56Ni decay. For wind densities typical of a red giant, the expected optical depth of the wind in Na I lines is shown to be too small (τ < 10?3) for their detection. Under the same conditions, the optical depth of the predicted Ca II 3934 Å absorption line is sufficient for its detection (τ > 0.1). It is concluded that the Na I and Ca II absorption lines detected in SN 2006X could not be formed in the red giant wind and are most likely related to clouds at distances exceeding the dust evaporation radius (r > 1017 cm). An upper limit for the rate of mass loss through a stationary wind with velocity u has been obtained from the absence of Ca II absorption lines in SN 2006X unrelated to the similar Na I components: ? < 10?8 (u/10 km s?1) M yr?1.  相似文献
