The results of studies of the vertical distribution of SP (the sum of chlorophill a and pheopigments) and the rate of silting of the Rybinsk Reservoir since its filling in 1941 up to 2009 are studied. The range of pigment concentrations (7–232 μg/g of dry residue) in core sample layers includes the values typical of all types of trophic conditions of water bodies, but the majority of values (81%) refers to the categories of mesotrophic and eutrophic. The mean concentrations of pigments in core samples over the periods between soil surveys, which were carried out in 1955, 1978, 1992, and 2009, averaged 525.4, 248.8, 200.6, and 142.3 mg/(m2 year), respectively. The mean rates of silting at the stations under study decreased from survey to survey from 13.6–17.9 to 3.5–5.3 mm/year. A direct positive relation was found to exist between the mean annual concentrations of pigments in core samples and the rate of silting at higher values of the indices in lakelike reaches in comparison with river-type reaches.  相似文献

Seventeen whole-rock samples, generally taken at 25–50 m intervals from 5 to 560 m sub-basement in Hole 504B, drilled in 6.2 m.y. old crust, were analysed for87Sr/86Sr ratios, Sr and Rb concentrations, and18O/16O ratios. Sr isotope ratios for 8 samples from the upper 260 m of the hole range from 0.70287 to 0.70377, with a mean of 0.70320. In the 330–560 m interval, 5 samples have a restricted range of 0.70255–0.70279, with a mean of 0.70266, the average value for fresh mid-ocean ridge basalts (MORB). In the 260–330 m interval, approximately intermediate Sr isotopic ratios are found.δ18O values (‰) range from 6.4 to 7.8 in the upper 260 m, 6.2–6.4 in the 270–320 m interval, and 5.8–6.2 in the 320–560 m interval. The values in the upper 260 m are typical for basalts which have undergone low-temperature seawater alteration, whereas the values for the 320–560 m interval correspond to MORB which have experienced essentially no oxygen isotopic alteration.The higher87Sr/86Sr and18O/16O ratios in the upper part of the hole can be interpreted as the result of a greater overall water/rock ratio in the upper part of the Hole 504B crust than in the lower part. Interaction of basalt with seawater(87Sr/86Sr=0.7091) increased basalt87Sr/86Sr ratios and produced smectitic alteration products which raised whole-rock δ18O values. Seawater circulation in the lower basalts may have been partly restricted by the greater number of relatively impermeable massive lava flows below about 230 m sub-basement. These flows may have helped to seal off lower basalts from through-flowing seawater.  相似文献

In September 2011, variations of the total abundance of bacteria were studied, including, for the first time, the abundance of bacteria with intact membranes and active electron transport chains, as well as chlorophyll a concentrations and some hydrological and hydrochemical characteristics of water in Yenisei estuary and the zone of Ob–Yenisei river discharge. The study found abundant, viable, and actively functioning bacterioplankton to exist in the region. The absolute values of all microbiological characteristics were found to decrease with the distance from the freshened waters of Yenisei estuary toward the seawater of the Ob–Yenisei river discharge, while the percentage of bacteria with intact membranes and actively functioning microorganisms in bacterioplankton increased in the same direction. Positive correlations were found to exist between the values of all examined microbiological characteristics and the concentration in water of chlorophyll a, silicium, organic nitrogen, and oxygen, as well as water temperature. The same biological characteristics showed negative correlations with water salinity and phosphates. The spatial distribution of bacteria in the examined water body was supposed to be due mostly to the intensity of hydrodynamic processes, rather than the biogenic matter content of water.  相似文献

The results of biohydrogeochemical monitoring are used to study time-dependent variations in the hydrogeochemical characteristics of the Lake Karymskii water mass, the state and characteristics of underwater discharge zones in the Tokarev crater (formed in 1996), hydrogeochemical characteristics of thermal springs around the lake, and the biota succession in the lake for the period 1996–2006 (2007). We detected a stratification in the chemical composition of water over depth and the presence of persistent zones of increased concentrations of dissolved oxygen. We found an alkalization of lake water and a decrease in its total salinity. The new thermal springs and underwater discharges of thermal water and gases were found to be continuing. The first data were obtained on the concentration of microelements in the thermal springs of the Karymskii basin. The biodiversity of algae in Lake Karymskii was largely increased by the species diversity of benthic Bacillariophyta. The plankton phytocomponent of the precatastrophic period was found to have been regenerated in the lake as of April 2007.  相似文献

The coastal water bodies that separate from White Sea water area due to Kandalaksha coast rise are examined. The hydrological and hydrochemical characteristics of these water bodies are found to notably differ from these in the bays and straits connected with them. Extreme values of water temperature and salinity were recorded. High concentrations of oxygen (>20 mg/l) were recorded in the near-surface water layers and high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (>90 mg/l) in bottom waters. The species composition of phyto- and zooplankton was found to be poor. The characteristics of enzymatic destruction in subsurface waters of lakes are an order of magnitude greater than those in White Sea open areas.  相似文献

Rain and surface water samples from Southern Germany were investigated from 1991 to 1995 for terbuthylazine and one of its major metabolites, deethylterbuthylazine. The concentrations observed were compared to the concentrations found for atrazine and deethylatrazine in the same water samples. Concentrations ranged from < 0.02 μg/L to 0.7 μg/L for terbuthylazine and from < 0.02 μg/L to 0.6 μg/L for deethylterbuthylazine, compared to concentrations of < 0.02 μg/L to 3 μg/L and < 0.02 μg/L to 0.5 μg/L for atrazine and deethylatrazine, respectively. The ratios of metabolite concentrations to parent compound concentrations were calculated for deethylterbuthylazine to terbuthylazine (DTR) and deethylatrazine to atrazine (DAR). In rain water, DTR of 0.8…3.0 and DAR of 0.3… 1.9 were determined with mean values of 0.9… 1.7 for DTR and 0.6…0.9 for DAR in the different years. The ratios increased during summer periods. The highest ratios were observed in samples from forest stands, showing that degradation of the herbicide has occurred during transport between the source and the sampling site. The DTR in rain water were about 50… 100% higher than the DAR. This indicates a higher degradation rate of terbuthylazine during atmospheric transport. In surface water, DTR of 0.3… 1.2 with mean values of 0.5…0.8 and DAR of 0.2…2.2 with mean values of 0.2… 1.3 were observed. The ratios increased from June to September.  相似文献

Seasonal dynamics of the mineralization, ionic composition, and the concentrations of specific pollutants in subsoil water are studied in populated localities in the southern Rostov oblast. Four major water types are identified: hydrocarbonate–sulfate (sulfate–hydrocarbonate), sulfate, chloride–sulfate (sulfate–chloride), and mixed type of subsoil water. The quality of subsoil water was found to fail to meet the sanitarytoxicological standards in terms of many characteristics. The values of MAC are exceeded for calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride and sulfate ions, oil products, cadmium, total iron, silicon, and nitrate and ammonium nitrogen. Relationships were found to exist between the concentrations in water of cadmium, potassium, and phosphorus ions; oil products; pH values; water mineralization and total hardness; and seasonal variations of subsoil water levels. The origin and the chemical and isotopic evolution of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) in groundwater of the Okavango Delta in semi-arid Botswana were investigated using DIC and major ion concentrations and stable oxygen, hydrogen and carbon isotopes (δD, δ18O and δ13CDIC). The δD and δ18O indicated that groundwater was recharged by evaporated river water and unevaporated rain. The river water and shallow (<10 m) groundwater are Ca–Na–HCO3 type and the deep (≥10 m) groundwater is Na–K–HCO3 to HCO3–Cl–SO4 to Cl–SO4–HCO3. Compared to river water, the mean DIC concentrations were 2 times higher in shallow groundwater, 7 times higher in deep groundwater and 24 times higher in island groundwater. The δ13CDIC indicate that DIC production in groundwater is from organic matter oxidation and in island groundwater from organic matter oxidation and dissolution of sodium carbonate salts. The ionic and isotopic evolution of the groundwater relative to evaporated river water indicates two independent pools of DIC.  相似文献

The present study deals with the seasonal variation of temperature, alkalinity and dissolved oxygen in the Sagar lake. Different abiotic and biotic factors were investigated and a diurnal study was made, too. The investigation shows that the surface water values were always higher than the bottom water values. The water temperature ranged from 16.0 to 31.0 °C, carbonate alkalinity ranged from 0.0 to 46.0 mg/1, bicarbonate alkalinity ranged from 62.0 to 138.0 mg/1, dissolved oxygen ranged between 1.6 and 13.2 ppm. The water temperature was found to be positively correlated with carbonate alkalinity while an inverse correlation existed with bicarbonate alkalinity. Dissolved oxygen had a significant positive correlation with carbonate alkalinity, while a negative correlation was observed with bicarbonate alkalinity during all the seasons.  相似文献

Iron migration forms and variations of its concentrations in water and bottom sediments of the Vygozero Reservoir were studied in period from 1993 to 2014. The decrease in wastewater volume discharged from the pulp and paper mill in the early 1990s caused stabilization of water oxidation regime and accumulation of iron in bottom sediments, from which it returns into the water mass when the environmental conditions change in the seasonal oxygen cycle.  相似文献

We examined the land use impact on the water quality of small water bodies located in northern Poland. Twenty nine ponds, located in the urban area or a typical agricultural land were analyzed based on physical-chemical parameters: water temperature, conductivity, oxygen concentration, content of particulate suspended matter and chlorophyll “a”, and nutrients concentration. Additionally, to describe and compare the trophic condition of investigated small water bodies, we used the Carlson type trophic state. Performed measurements showed that nutrient concentrations significantly differentiated the agricultural ponds from urban water bodies. Mean total phosphorus and nitrogen concentration in midfield ponds were about 5 and 3 times higher, respectively, than in urban ponds. Moreover the phytoplankton chlorophyll “a” mean values were on average fivefold higher in agricultural ponds. Furthermore, urban ponds were characterized by lower values of TSI, thus lower trophy level: generally on the border of meso- and eutrophy. The agricultural ponds trophy changed from meso- to hypertrophy.  相似文献

Herein we present results from one of the first extensive bay-wide oceanographic surveys of Manila Bay, wherein 31 stations were sampled during the northeast monsoon (cold and dry season). A band of hypoxic bottom water (dissolved oxygen <2.8 mg/L) spanned the midsection of the bay from east to west. Bottom nitrate concentrations (5.7–16.8 μM; avg. 11.1 μM) and total organic carbon values in sediments (1.7–3.1%; avg. 2.4%) were high in the midsection, which coincided with the band of hypoxic bottom water. Physical processes and site-specific accumulation of organic material likely lead to hypoxic conditions in Manila Bay, even during the northeast monsoon period when the water column is relatively well mixed. The results of this study complement the previously reported widespread hypoxia that occurs during the rainy season. Thus, hypoxia may be pervasive in the bay throughout the year, although it varies in intensity and spatial extent.  相似文献

Geochemical data indicate that the Springfield Plateau aquifer, a carbonate aquifer of the Ozark Plateaus Province in central USA, has two distinct hydrochemical zones. Within each hydrochemical zone, water from springs is geochemically and isotopically different than water from wells. Geochemical data indicate that spring water generally interacts less with the surrounding rock and has a shorter residence time, probably as a result of flowing along discrete fractures and solution openings, than water from wells. Water type throughout most of the aquifer was calcium bicarbonate, indicating that carbonate‐rock dissolution is the primary geochemical process occurring in the aquifer. Concentrations of calcium, bicarbonate, dissolved oxygen and tritium indicate that most ground water in the aquifer recharged rapidly and is relatively young (less than 40 years). In general, field‐measured properties, concentrations of many chemical constituents, and calcite saturation indices were greater in samples from the northern part of the aquifer (hydrochemical zone A) than in samples from the southern part of the aquifer (hydrochemical zone B). Factors affecting differences in the geochemical composition of ground water between the two zones are difficult to identify, but could be related to differences in chert content and possibly primary porosity, solubility of the limestone, and amount and type of cementation between zone A than in zone B. In addition, specific conductance, pH, alkalinity, concentrations of many chemical constituents and calcite saturation indices were greater in samples from wells than in samples from springs in each hydrochemical zone. In contrast, concentrations of dissolved oxygen, nitrite plus nitrate, and chloride generally were greater in samples from springs than in samples from wells. Water from springs generally flows rapidly through large conduits with minimum water–rock interactions. Water from wells flow through small fractures, which restrict flow and increase water–rock interactions. As a result, springs tend to be more susceptible to surface contamination than wells. The results of this study have important implications for the geochemical and hydrogeological processes of similar carbonate aquifers in other geographical locations. A major assumption in palaeoclimatic studies using speleothems is that cave‐seepage waters are homogenized as they pass through the bedrock, so that they record the average annual isotopic signal of precipitation. A year‐long study during 2001–02 was conducted at Indian Oven Cave in eastern New York State, USA, to investigate how cave‐seepage water isotopic signals relate to those of precipitation. Samples were collected biweekly and analysed for stable isotopes of oxygen and hydrogen. Our study shows that, for this cave, homogenization did not occur, as seepage waters had the same seasonal variability as precipitation. However, mean seepage water isotopic values were very close to those of the mean values for precipitation. Rapid flow‐through times of seepage water show that the speleothems can record climate conditions above the cave contemporaneously. At one location, flow ceased during the winter; therefore, isotopes measured in cave drip waters reflected only the enriched summer isotopes. Under certain circumstances, the analysis of calcite sampled from those drip waters may then lead to a false conclusion of a warming during that period, instead of the fact that it was merely a drier winter period. The Harsit Stream flowing into the Black Sea is an important watershed in the northeastern part of Turkey. The monthly averages of dissolved oxygen, carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand, temperature, pH, total suspended solids, total phosphorus and total nitrogen were obtained for the water samples taken from the Tekke, Akcakale and Haciemin sites of the Harsit Stream. Water quality parameters were analyzed and evaluated according to the WHO standards and the Turkish Water Pollution Control Regulation. Initially, the variations in the dissolved oxygen profile were determined from dissolved oxygen, temperature and carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand measurements by using the point source Streeter‐Phelps equation. Critical dissolved oxygen deficit values were calculated for the monthly average from January–December 2005, which are below the limit value (4 mg L–1) excluding April (7.26 mg L–1) and May (5.98 mg L–1) in the Harsit Stream, resulting in it having second class water quality in terms of dissolved oxygen concentration, temperature, pH and biochemical oxygen demand. It is also seen that the minimum dissolved oxygen limit value (8 mg L–1), which is a desired quantity for drinking water, is under the limit value for all months in the case of the water mixture. In particular, during the summer months, the consumption speed of oxygen is greater than the production speed of oxygen with increasing temperature and decreasing discharge, and negative values (anoxia) of dissolved oxygen sag are seen. These situations call for significant precautions and treatment criteria.  相似文献

This paper presents results of a study on the concentration of adsorbable organic halogens (AOX) in water samples of the Oder River and its tributaries collected from 1998 to 2002. The Vistula River water for AOX was analysed in the period 2001–2002. The investigated waters of the Vistula near the mouth (Kiezmark) were more contaminated with AOX than the Oder near the mouth (Widuchowa, Krajnik Dolny). In general, AOX levels in the Polish rivers are comparable to the values found in the European rivers, e.g. the Rhine and the Ton. The research has shown that AOX were correlated with pH, total suspended solids, and the riverine flow. No relation between dissolved oxygen and redox potential and AOX was found out. During the flood period AOX, inorganic halogens (TIX), and mineral substances (sulfates) were analysed.  相似文献

湖泊水深是影响沉水植物生长、繁殖与分布的重要环境因子,水深增加改变了水下光照、风浪和底泥特性等,因而可能导致沉水植物的生理生化指标发生相应变化.本研究通过对云南洱海沉水植物苦草(Vallisneria natans)随水深分布的情况进行调查,并分析了定植于不同水深的苦草叶片碳(C)、氮(N)和磷(P)含量及其比率,以阐明水深变化对苦草叶片生态化学计量学的影响.结果表明洱海苦草定植的水深范围为0.5~5.6 m,在1.5~2.4 m处达到最大频度,在2.5~3.4 m处达到最大相对生物量,这表明苦草在洱海中的最适生长深度在1.5~3.4 m范围内;苦草叶片C、N和P含量平均值分别为356.10、26.13和3.54 mg/g,C:N、C:P和N:P的平均值分别为14.38、113.46和7.85;苦草叶片C含量、C:N和C:P均随水深增加而降低,N和P含量则随水深增加而升高,N:P在0.5~1.4 m较高,其余水深梯度之间则没有显著差异.总体上,苦草叶片C、N、P含量及其化学计量特征显著地受到了湖泊水深的影响.另外,本研究还发现水深的增加使得苦草叶片N、P含量发生聚敛,这导致其N、P之间的耦合性变弱.  相似文献

Levels of dissolved ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate and silicate, as well as chlorosity, dissolved oxygen and hydrogen sulphide in the water of Lake Mariut have been investigated over a year. This shallow brackish-water lake, situated south of Alexandria, suffers from intense pollution. Two different water bodies can be distinguished in Lake Mariut. One, occupying the eastern side of the lake, is affected by sewage and industrial waste disposal, as well as discharge of highly polluted water from Qalaa Drain. The water in this region, which had lower regional average chlorosity values, contained abnormal higher concentrations of phosphate and nitrogenous salts in the presence of H2S. The western side was always oxic and showed higher average values of chlorosity. This western region contained lower concentrations of phosphate and nitrogenous salts, due to the influence of the relatively clean water from Umum Drain. The principal source of silicon for Lake Mariut is agricultural drainage. The annual average concentrations of phosphate and nitrogenous salts in this lake were considerably higher than those in the neighbouring comparatively less polluted Nozha Hydrodrome.  相似文献

Sources and transport processes of As, Cu, Cd and Pb were studied in different environmental compartments of Deception Island, an active volcano in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Element concentrations in fresh water samples are consistent with the lowest values reported elsewhere in Antarctica. Interestingly, higher concentration values of As were found in samples collected in or near spring water courses and its transport may be related with processes of lixiviation in underground waters. While in saline waters Cu and Pb had important punctual sources, concentration values for Cd were consistently high pointing to the existence of a natural and diffuse source possibly related with the hydrothermal activity. The high Si/Al ratio, low carbon content, and a non-significant anthropogenic heavy metal input may explain the surprisingly homogeneous heavy metal content found in sediment samples.  相似文献
