This paper presents the spectrophotometric observations of five Be stars belonging to spectral type from B2.5 to B5 and luminosity class from III to V. The continuum energy distribution data of these stars are extracted from the spectrophotometric measurements over the wavelength range of λλ 3200–8000 Å. The observed data of continuum energy distribution are compared with the theoretical energy distribution curves to derive the value of effective temperatures of these stars. We have also examined the effect of circumstellar envelopes of Be stars on their continuum energy distribution. It has been found that the extended circumstellar envelope of Be stars affect the underlying continua in the near-ultraviolet and near-infrared regions. Three Be stars are found to exhibit near-ultraviolet and near-infrared flux deficiency in their continua. For one of the Be, namely star HR 1289, we report the first continuum energy distribution measurements. Another normal B star HR 1363, which was observed as comparison star, was found to exhibit near-ultraviolet and excess emission, which are signatures of a Be star, thus putting this star in the category of Be stars.  相似文献

The continuum energy distribution of the emission line star X Per (O9.5III-V) has been obtained in the wavelength range 340–710 nm and has been compared with the energy distribution of Cam in the same wavelength range. The continuum of the star is found to be modified by the circumstellar envelope. A number density of the order of 1011 in the envelope has been obtained from the observations of H in emission.  相似文献

We present the multicolor BV RI photometry and BTA/SCORPIO spectroscopy for the red nova V4332 Sgr, performed in 2005–2012. We have analyzed the behavior of the nova remnant, considering our observations along with all the published observations and archival photographic photometry. The atomic and molecular emission spectra show an exponential weakening. Since 2003, the line fluxes have on the average decreased 30-fold. The continuum of the M-type giant in the spectrum has weakened abruptly between 2006 and 2008, twice in the red and by 4 times in the blue range. The variations in the spectral energy distribution of the stellar continuum after the outburst correspond to a decrease in the surface temperature of the M-type giant by 1000 K. The presence of a faint star of about 20m is possible. The star can be either a member of the system or a field star. It is found that the phenomenon of the red nova in this system is not related with the M-type star. The progenitor of the explosion could be a blue straggler, which has disappeared from the spectral energy distribution after the explosion of 1994. It is most likely that this object was a contact binary system. To explain the “cold explosion” of V4332 Sgr, we have accepted the hypothesis of merging components of a contact binary star in a hierarchical triple or multiple system. There are evidences of dynamical destruction of the outburst remnant and accretion of its matter to the M-type giant. The cause of the red nova phenomenon is thought to be a sudden explosive energy release in the center of a star having a massive envelope, and a subsequent expansion of the envelope in the conditions close to adiabatic. As a result of the explosion, thermal energy reaches the surface of the envelope a year or a few years after the outburst, whereas the envelope already has a large surface area. The cause of the explosion in the center of the star can be both a merger event of the nuclei of two stars in the contact system with a formed common massive envelope and instability in the core of a single massive star. Thus, the red novae can be heterogeneous objects at different evolutionary stages.  相似文献

BVR photometric and quasi-simultaneous optical spectroscopic observations of the star HD 81032 have been carried out during the years 2000-2004. A photometric period of 18.802 ± 0.07d has been detected for this star. A large group of spots with a migration period of 7.43 ± 0.07 years is inferred from the first three years of the data. Hα and CaII H and K emissions from the star indicate high chromospheric activity. The available photometry in the BVRIJHK bands is consistent with the spectral type of K0IV previously found for this star. We have also examined the spectral energy distribution of HD 81032 for the presence of an infrared colour excess using the 2MASS JHK and IRAS photometry, but found no significant excess in any band above the normal values expected for a star with this spectral type. We have also analyzed the X-ray emission properties of this star using data obtained by the ROSAT X-ray observatory during its All-Sky Survey phase. An X-ray flare of about 12 hours duration was detected during the two days of X-ray coverage obtained for this star. Its X-ray spectrum, while only containing 345 counts, is inconsistent with a single-temperature component solar-abundance coronal plasma model, but implies either the presence of two or more plasma components, nonsolar abundances, or a combination of both of these properties. All of the above properties of HD 81032 suggest that it is a newly identified, evolved RS CVn binary.  相似文献

Recent observations have shown that some compact stellar binaries radiate the highest energy light in the universe. The challenge has been to determine the nature of the compact object and whether the very high energy gamma-rays are ultimately powered by pulsar winds or relativistic jets. Multiwavelength observations have shown that one of the three gamma-ray binaries known so far, PSR B1259−63, is a neutron star binary and that the very energetic gamma-rays from this source and from another gamma-ray binary, LS I +61 303, may be produced by the interaction of pulsar winds with the wind from the companion star. At this time it is an open question whether the third gamma-ray binary, LS 5039, is also powered by a pulsar wind or a microquasar jet, where relativistic particles in collimated jets would boost the energy of the wind from the stellar companion to TeV energies. In this work a new family of relativistic models of electrically charged compact star has been obtained by solving Einstein–Maxwell field equations with preferred form of one of the metric potentials and a suitable form of electric charge distribution function. The resulting equation of state (EOS) has been calculated. The relativistic stellar structure for matter distribution obtained in this work may reasonably models an electrically charged compact star whose energy density associated with the electric fields is on the same order of magnitude as the energy density of fluid matter itself (e.g. electrically charged bare strange stars). Based on the analytic model developed in the present work, the values of the relevant physical quantities have been calculated by assuming the estimated masses and radii of some well known strange star candidates like X-ray pulsar Her X-1, millisecond X-ray pulsar SAX J 1808.4-3658, and 4U 1820-30.  相似文献

It has been found that in general relativity slow down due to the energy losses through charged particles outflow in plasma magnetosphere strongly depends on star’s compactness parameter and is more faster for the neutron star with comparison to that for the strange star of the same mass. Comparison with astrophysical observations on pulsars spin down precise data may provide important information about star’s compactness parameter and consequently an evidence for the strange star existence and, thus, serve as a test for distinguishing it from the neutron star.  相似文献

A series of numerical models has been constructed for the three-dimensional explosion dynamics of a low-mass neutron star in a binary system that results from the collapse of the rotating iron core of a massive supernova. The numerical solution has been obtained by the particle method with an adaptive time step that allows the computational accuracy to be controlled automatically. The constructed numerical models include the proper motion of the massive component in the binary system of neutron stars, their finite sizes, the graduality of energy release during the explosive disruption of a critical-mass neutron star, and the nonuniform expansion velocity distribution of iron ejecta. The extent to which each of the listed parameters affects the explosion characteristics has been determined. The total explosion energy and the pulsar escape velocity have been estimated. A sizable fraction of the material of the exploded neutron star has been found to remain gravitationally bound to the massive component of the binary system. A further study of its dynamics is of interest in its own right, because the captured material can be considered as an additional source of muon neutrinos.  相似文献

We continue to study the fast X-ray transient XTE J1901+014 discovered in 2002 by the RXTE observatory, whose nature has not yet been established. Based on the XMM-Newton observations of the source in 2006, we have obtained its energy spectrum, light curves, and power spectrum in the energy range 0.5–10 keV, which are in good agreement with our results obtained previously from the data of other observatories. In turn, this suggests that the source’s emission is stable in the quiescent state. The XMM-Newton observations also allowed the source’s localization accuracy to be improved to ≤2″, which subsequently enabled us to search for its optical companion with the RTT-150 and 6-m BTA (Special Astrophysical Observatory) telescopes. Combining optical, X-ray, and infrared observations, we have concluded that the optical companion in the system under study can be either a later-type star at a distance of several kpc or a very distant red giant or an A or F star. Thus, XTE J1901+014 may be the first low-mass fast X-ray transient.  相似文献

HD 147010, which is in the reflection nebula vd B 102, has been found to be a hot Ap silicon star rather than a normal A supergiant. From theUBV and JHK photometry of the star, colour excessE(B - V) of 0.29 and the ratio of total-to-selective absorptionR of 4.3 have been obtained. The high value ofR implies bigger grain size and also confirms the association of the star with the nebula. The dereddened colours of the star can be fitted to a theoretical energy distribution with Teff = 13000 ± 500 K and logg = 3.6 ± 0.2. HD 147010 has also been found to be a spectrum variable; in particular, lines of Cr II show large intensity variations.  相似文献

Mid-and far-infrared maps of many Galactic star forming regions show multiple peaks in close proximity, implying more than one embedded energy source. With the aim of understanding such interstellar clouds better, the present study models the case of two embedded sources. A radiative transfer scheme has been developed to deal with a uniform density dust cloud in a cylindrical geometry, which includes isotropic scattering in addition to the emission and absorption processes. This scheme has been applied to the Galactic star forming region associated with IRAS 19181 + 1349, which shows observational evidence for two embedded energy sources. Two independent modelling approaches have been adopted, viz., to fit the observed spectral energy distribution (SED) best; or to fit the various radial profiles best, as a function of wavelength. Both the models imply remarkably similar physical parameters.  相似文献

In the last couple of decades hundreds of studies have explored the nature of star‐forming galaxies at different redshifts. This contribution focuses on X‐shooter observations of star‐burst galaxies at 0 < z < 6 from commissioning runs, science verification, and regular observations, and demonstrates the capability of the new instrument in this competitive field. Observations of gravitationally lensed galaxies show that X‐shooter has no limitation in the redshift desert (1.4 < z < 2) where the strong optical emission lines are shifted to the near‐IR region. Physical properties of galaxies, such as masses, metallicities, abundance ratios, and star formation rates can be derived from observations with relatively short integration times for faint galaxies. The simultaneous UV to near‐IR spectral coverage makes derivation of physical quantities more reliable because there are no differential slit losses as may occur when observations from different optical and near‐IR instruments are used. Over the entire redshift range, spectra of faint galaxies will allow us to better measure stellar ages and dominating ionisation sources compared to broad band spectral energy distribution measurements (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Changes of the orbit of a star passing through a homogeneous spherical cluster have been estimated. Before entering the cluster the star is supposed to move in a Keplerian parabolic orbit. When passing through the cluster the star is subject both to the attraction of the smoothed-out distribution of matter in the cluster and to dynamical friction. Due to dynamical friction the energy of the star becomes negative which leads to the elliptic-type motion of the star after leaving the cluster and to capturing the star by the cluster. The formulae for the changes of the star orbit in the cluster are given. Numerical estimation shows that open clusters transform star orbits more noticeably than do globular clusters.  相似文献

IUE observations of the hydrogen-deficient irregular variable star MV Sgr obtained in 1980 June-October and also in 1979 November are discussed. These observations show a prominent λ 2200 absorption feature. A value ofE(B — V) = 0.55 is deduced from the strength of λ 2200 band assuming that this absorption is caused by interstellar medium. The dereddened continuum obtained at different times can be fitted to a theoretical energy distribution of a helium star model with Teff = 18000 K and log g = 2.5, similar to that of BD + 10 2179. This theoretical energy distribution, after applying interstellar extinction, givesV = 12.7 mag, agreeing with the observed visual magnitude of ≃ 13 in 1979 November and 1980 June-October. Even though there was no change in the continuum flux, the ultraviolet line-spectrum shows variations. The IUE spectra of 1980 October show enhanced (circumstellar) absorption lines of Fe II, Si II, O I, C I and others along with the absorption lines of a B star. In view of the similarity of the spectroscopic phenomena of MV Sgr with that of α Sco system, a model is proposed in which a cool companion star, surrounded by dust, occasionally blows gas towards the hotter hydrogen-poor B star. This model explains the irregular light variations and the spectroscopic phenomena. Tidal tails of star clusters are not homogeneous but show well-defined clumps in observations as well as in numerical simulations. Recently, an epicyclic theory for the formation of these clumps was presented. A quantitative analysis was still missing. We present a quantitative derivation of the angular momentum and energy distribution of escaping stars from a star cluster in the tidal field of the Milky Way and derive the connection to the position and width of the clumps. For the numerical realization we use star-by-star N -body simulations. We find a very good agreement of theory and models. We show that the radial offset of the tidal arms scales with the tidal radius, which is a function of cluster mass and the rotation curve at the cluster orbit. The mean radial offset is 2.77 times the tidal radius in the outer disc. Near the Galactic Centre the circumstances are more complicated, but to lowest order the theory still applies. We have also measured the Jacobi energy distribution of bound stars and showed that there is a large fraction of stars (about 35 per cent) above the critical Jacobi energy at all times, which can potentially leave the cluster. This is a hint that the mass loss is dominated by a self-regulating process of increasing Jacobi energy due to the weakening of the potential well of the star cluster, which is induced by the mass loss itself.  相似文献

High-resolution far-infrared observations of a large area of the star-forming complex RCW 106 obtained using the TIFR 1-m balloon-borne telescope are presented. Intensity maps have been obtained simultaneously in two bands centred around 150 and 210 μm. Intensity maps have also been obtained in the four IRAS bands using HIRES-processed IRAS data. From the 150- and 210-μm maps, reliable maps of dust temperature and optical depth have been generated. The star formation in this complex has occurred in five linear sub-clumps. Using the map at 210 μm, which has a spatial resolution superior to that of IRAS at 100 μm, 23 sources have been identified. The spectral energy distribution (SED) and luminosity of these sources have been determined using the associations with the IRAS maps. The luminosity distribution of these sources has been obtained. Assuming these embedded sources to be zero-age main-sequence stars and using the mass–luminosity relation for these, the power-law slope of the initial mass function is found to be −1.73±0.5 . This index for this very young complex is about the same as that for more evolved complexes and clusters. Radiation transfer calculations in spherically symmetric geometry have been undertaken to fit the SEDs of 13 sources with fluxes in both the TIFR and the IRAS bands. From this, the r −2 density distribution in the envelopes is ruled out. Finally, a correlation is seen between the luminosity of embedded sources and the computed dust masses of the envelopes.  相似文献

The variational principle for stars with a phase transition has been investigated. The term outside the integral in the expression for the second variation of the total energy of a star is shown to be obtained by passage to the limit from the integration over the region of mixed states in the star. The form of the trial functions ensuring this passage has been found. All of the results have been generalized to the case where general relativity is applicable. The known criteria for the dynamical stability of a star when a new phase appears at its center are shown to follow automatically from the variational principle. Numerical calculations of hydrostatically equilibrium models for hybrid stars with a phase transition have been performed. The form of the trial functions for the second variation of the total energy of a star that describes almost exactly the stability boundaries of such stellar models is proposed.  相似文献

We present the first radio observations of a sample of 13 optically and IR-bright Southern hemisphere classical Be stars made from the Australian Telescope Compact Array at 3.5 and 6.3 cm simultaneously. One star, δ Cen, was detected at 3.5 cm, and a second, μ Cen, was also thought to have been detected; further observations of this source are required to confirm this detection. No sources were detected at 6.3 cm, although δ Cen was previously detected at this wavelength by other observers at a higher flux than our detection limit. The radio observations show that the spectral energy distribution undergoes a turnover between the far-IR and radio wavelengths, as was seen in previous studies. Likewise we find no simple correlation between far-IR and radio flux. Lower limits to the outer disc radius were found to be of the order of a few hundred solar radii i.e. of the order of those found previously by Taylor et al.  相似文献

Long-term photometric and spectroscopic observations of the yellow symbiotic star LT Del are analyzed. UBV light curves are presented. Based on the observations of 20 cycles, we have refined the orbital period of the star, P = 476 · d 0 ± 1 · d 0. The brightness has been found to be unstable at some orbital phases with an amplitude up to 0 · m 3. We have measured the fluxes in hydrogen and helium emission lines and in continuum and investigated their relationship to the orbital period. The fluxes in hydrogen and HeI lines follow the UBV light curves in phase; the He II 4686 Å flux does not depend on the phase and is constant within the accuracy of our measurements. The intensity ratio of the 4686 Å andHβ lines changes from 0.2 to 0.9 over the period. We interpret the spectroscopic observations based on the hypothesis of heating and ionization of the stellar wind from a cool component by high-frequency radiation from a hot star with a temperature of 105 K. We have estimated the spectral type of the cool star from our photometry and its continuum energy distribution as a bright K2–4 red giant branch halo star. The bolometric luminosity and mass loss rate have been estimated for the K component to be L bol ~ 700L and \(\dot{M}\) ~ 10?8 M yr?1, respectively.  相似文献
