We report lightcurves for five asteroids from the inner main belt—(1703) Barry, (2590) Mourão, (4022) Nonna, (5171) Augustesen, (23031) 1999 XX7—and for two near-Earth asteroids—(100004) 1983 VA, (144922) 2005 CK38—obtained at Modra Observatory as a part of binary asteroid photometric campaign. Estimated synodic rotational periods and amplitudes of their composite lightcurves were as follows: 107.1 ± 0.5 h, 0.5 mag for (1703) Barry; 15.59 ± 0.01 h, 0.49 mag for (2590) Mourão; 2.5877 ± 0.0005 h, 0.08 mag for (4022) Nonna; 474 ± 10 h, 0.8 mag for (5171) Augustesen; 3.075 ± 0.001 h, 0.43 mag for (23031) 1999 XX7; 3.1643 ± 0.0009 h, 0.11 mag for (100004) 1983 VA; 4.7894 ± 0.0005 h, 0.27 mag for (144922) 2005 CK38. The slow rotator (5171) Augustesen and possibly also (1703) Barry appear to be tumblers, though their precession periods can not be estimated from the available data.  相似文献

The following physical parameters have been computed for the atmosphere of Venus between 65 and 90 km, by intervals of 1 km. (1) Pressure, (2) Density, (3) Speed of sound, (4) Number density, (5) Density scale, (6) Pressure scale, (7) Collisional frequency, (8) Mean particle velocity (9) Mean free path, (10) Columnar mass, (11) Viscosity. For these calculations we have used the temperature altitude measurements of Venera 15 and 16 at 52 °N and 72 °N latitudes, the night and 70 °N and 72 °N latitudes the day.  相似文献

Using 8-10-m class telescopes and their Adaptive Optics (AO) systems, we conducted a long-term adaptive optics campaign initiated in 2003 focusing on four binary asteroid systems: (130) Elektra, (283) Emma, (379) Huenna, and (3749) Balam. The analysis of these data confirms the presence of their asteroidal satellite. We did not detect any additional satellite around these systems even though we have the capability of detecting a loosely-bound fragment (located at 1/4×RHill) ∼40 times smaller in diameter than the primary. The orbits derived for their satellites display significant eccentricity, ranging from 0.1 to 0.9, suggesting a different origin. Based on AO size estimate, we show that (130) Elektra and (283) Emma, G-type and P-type asteroids, respectively, have a significant porosity (30-60% considering CI-CO meteorites as analogs) and their satellite's eccentricities (e∼0.1) are possibly due to excitation by tidal effects. (379) Huenna and (3749) Balam, two loosely bound binary systems, are most likely formed by mutual capture. (3749) Balam's possible high bulk density is similar to (433) Eros, another S-type asteroid, and should be poorly fractured as well. (379) Huenna seems to display both characteristics: the moonlet orbits far away from the primary in term of stability (20%×RHill), but the primary's porosity is significant (30-60%).  相似文献

A mineralogical assessment of 3:1 Kirkwood Gap Asteroids (3760) Poutanen and (974) Lioba, has been carried out from spectral data obtained May 21, 2008 (974) and May 25, 2009 (3760) UT using the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility. Results indicate (3760) Poutanen as a spinel-bearing asteroid. The spinel contained within this asteroid appears to be embedded in calcium aluminum inclusions (CAIs) much like that of the CV3 chondrite Allende. The preservation of the CAIs implies a lack of igneous processing and places further constraints on the heating that occurred within the early Solar System. This analysis suggests (3760) Poutanen originated in the general formation zone of the CV3 meteorites, but in a sub-region depleted in iron-rich matrix material and enriched in pyroxene-bearing clasts. Analysis of (974) Lioba indicates it is an S(IV) asteroid with a surface silicate assemblage consisting of olivine and orthopyroxene, (Fs21(±5)Wo8(±3)), consistent with measured band centers, (0.96 ± 0.01 μm; 1.95 ± 0.02 μm), and the band area ratio (0.59 ± 0.15). The location, delivery efficiency ((24.5%) Farinella, P., Gunczi, R., Froeschlé, Ch., Froeschlé, C. [1993]. Icarus 101, 174-187), calculated mineralogy, and BAR strongly suggest (974) Lioba is a plausible parent body for the LL- or L-ordinary chondrites.  相似文献

We have used the Krall flux-rope model (Krall and St. Cyr, Astrophys. J. 2006, 657, 1740) (KFR) to fit 23 magnetic cloud (MC)-CMEs and 30 non-cloud ejecta (EJ)-CMEs in the Living With a Star (LWS) Coordinated Data Analysis Workshop (CDAW) 2011 list. The KFR-fit results shows that the CMEs associated with MCs (EJs) have been deflected closer to (away from) the solar disk center (DC), likely by both the intrinsic magnetic structures inside an active region (AR) and ambient magnetic structures (e.g. nearby ARs, coronal holes, and streamers, etc.). The mean absolute propagation latitudes and longitudes of the EJ-CMEs (18°, 11°) were larger than those of the MC-CMEs (11°, 6°) by 7° and 5°, respectively. Furthermore, the KFR-fit widths showed that the MC-CMEs are wider than the EJ-CMEs. The mean fitting face-on width and edge-on width of the MC-CMEs (EJ-CMEs) were 87 (85)° and 70 (63)°, respectively. The deflection away from DC and narrower angular widths of the EJ-CMEs have caused the observing spacecraft to pass over only their flanks and miss the central flux-rope structures. The results of this work support the idea that all CMEs have a flux-rope structure.  相似文献

Abstract— 40Ar/39Ar ages of four tektites (moldavites) from southern Bohemia (near ?eské Budějovice, Czech Republic) and a tektite from Lusatia (near Dresden, Germany) have been determined by 11 step‐degassing experiments. The purpose of the study was to enlarge the 40Ar/39Ar data base of moldavites and to check the age relations of the Bohemian and Lusatian samples. The mean plateau‐age of the Bohemian samples, which range from 14.42 to 14.70 Ma, is 14.50 ± 0.16 (0.42) (2σ) Ma (errors in parentheses include age error and uncertainty of standard monitor age). The plateau age of the Lusatian sample of 14.38 ± 0.26 (0.44) (2σ) Ma confirms the previously published 40Ar/39Ar age of 14.52 ± 0.08 (0.40) (2σ) Ma, and demonstrates that the fall of Lusatian and Bohemian tektites were contemporaneous. Because of their geochemistry and their ages there is no doubt that the Lusatian tektites are moldavites. Accepting that moldavites are ejecta from the Nördlinger Ries impact, the new ages also date the impact event. This age is slightly younger (about 0.2–0.3 Ma) than the age suggested by earlier K‐Ar determinations.  相似文献

In cycle 23 for geomagnetic storms of ?Dst(min) >50 nT, the plot of ?Dst(min) versus ?Bz(min) for the low ?Bz(min) range 0–10 nT showed erratic variation in Dst(min), (correlation 0.19). Even for ?Bz(min) range 10–20 nT, ?Dst(min) values had considerable scatter (correlation 0.57). For ?Bz(min).>20 nT, the relationship was good (correlation 0.82). For the whole range ?Bz(min) 0–50 nT, the correlation was high (0.88). Thus, if ?Bz(min) is very large (~20 nT), large ?Dst(min) occurs but in a wide range of 100–500 nT.  相似文献

In order to characterize the relation between apparent chondrule sizes (2D) and true chondrule sizes (3D), three ordinary chondrites of the H, L, and LL group have been analyzed. The diameters of a large number of chondrule cut faces in thin sections (2D; n = 2037) and of separated chondrules from the same meteorites (3D: n = 2061) have been measured. The obtained 2D/3D mean chondrule sizes (μm) for the H, L, and LL chondrite are 450/490, 500/610, and 690/830; the corresponding median values (μm) are 370/420, 450/530, and 580/730. The data show that there is a cutoff for small chondrule sizes in each sample. Possibly characteristic minimum sizes exist for the various groups, increasing in the (3D) sequence H (~90 μm) <L (~180 μm) <LL (~240 μm). No systematics were found for the maximum chondrule sizes. The investigated samples show very similar chondrule volume (mass) distributions relative to the mode (peak) of their size-frequency distributions. About 2.6–2.9% and 97.1–97.4% of the total chondrule volume (mass) is present in chondrule sizes smaller and larger than the mode, respectively. It was found that 2D sectioning consistently results in a shift of the true 3D size-frequency distributions toward smaller sizes. This effect leads to the underestimation of the values for (1) the true mean chondrule size by 8–18%, (2) the true chondrule median value by 12–21%, and (3) the true mode value of the size-frequency distributions by 12–17% (50 μm binning). This is the opposite of what popular 2D/3D correction models predict (e.g., Eisenhour 1996 ).  相似文献

A fragment of Mundrabilla IAB-ung iron meteorite was analyzed using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), magnetization measurements, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The polished section of meteorite fragment characterization by optical microscopy and SEM shows the presence of the γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase lamellae, plessite structures and schreibersite inclusions in the α-Fe(Ni, Co) phase. EDS indicates variations in the Ni concentrations in the following ranges: (i) ∼6.3–6.5 atom% in the α-Fe(Ni, Co) phase and (ii) ∼22 to ∼45 atom% in the γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase lamellae including the range of ∼29–33 atom% of Ni leading to the paramagnetic state of the γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase. Schreibersite inclusions contain ∼23 atom% of P, ∼33 atom% of Fe, ∼43 atom% of Ni, and ∼0.7 atom% of Co. Plessite structure contains the average Ni concentration of ∼17 atom% while detailed EDS analysis shows: (i) the lowest Ni concentrations of ∼5 to ∼8 atom%, (ii) the intermediate Ni concentrations of ∼9 to ∼19 atom%, and (iii) the highest Ni concentration up ∼38 atom% (some individual micro-grains demonstrate up to ∼47 and ∼59 atom% of Ni) that may indicate the presence of the (i) α-Fe(Ni, Co), (ii) α2-Fe(Ni, Co), and (iii) γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phases. These may be a result of the γ-phase decomposition with mechanism γ → α + α2 + γ that indicates a slow cooling rate for Mundrabilla IAB-ung iron meteorite. The presence of ∼98.6 wt% of the α-Fe(Ni, Co) phase and ∼1.4 wt% of the γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase is found by XRD while schreibersite is not detected. Magnetization measurements show the saturation magnetization moment of Mundrabilla IAB-ung of 188(2) emu g−1 indicating a low average Ni concentration in Fe-Ni-Co alloy. Mössbauer spectrum of the bulk Mundrabilla powder demonstrates five magnetic sextets related to the ferromagnetic α2-Fe(Ni, Co), α-Fe(Ni, Co), and γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phases and one singlet associated with the paramagnetic γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase, however, there are no spectral components corresponding to schreibersite. Basing on relatively larger and smaller values of the magnetic hyperfine field, two magnetic sextets associated with γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase can be related to the disordered and more ordered γ-phases. The iron fractions in the detected phases can be roughly estimated as follows: (i) ∼17.6% in the α2-Fe(Ni, Co) phase, (ii) ∼68.5% in the α-Fe(Ni, Co) phase, (iii) ∼11.5% in the disordered γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase, (iv) ∼2.0% in the more ordered γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase, and (v) ∼0.4% in the paramagnetic γ-Fe(Ni, Co) phase.  相似文献

Related investigations concerning the source and occurrence of Pi 2 micropulsations indicate that (1) Pi 2 peak occurrence is near 2230 LMT, before (after) which the initial disturbance vector orientation is primarily northeast (northwest) in the northern hemisphere; (2) peak occurrence is near 2330 (2030) LMT during intervals of low (high) magnetic activity; (3) also, solar wind pressure is directed at a streaming angle of 188° (165°) during low (high) magnetic activity; (4) Pi 2 rate of occurrence peaks when 1 + ? Kp ? 2?. The diurnal variation of occurrence and of the initial disturbance vector orientation may be caused by a magnetospheric Pi 2 source located near the 2230 LMT meridian. Comparison of Pi 2 peak occurrence time and solar wind variations with magnetic activity indicates possible relationships of the two. The fact that processes generating Pi 2 appear optimum, when 1 + ? Kp ? 2?, is consistent with the inverse relation of the yearly Pi 2 occurrence frequency to solar activity.  相似文献

The decrease in the rms contrast of time-averaged images with the averaging time is compared between four data sets: (1) a series of solar granulation images recorded at La Palma in 1993, (2) a series of artificial granulation images obtained in numerical simulations by Rieutord et al. (Nuovo Cimento 25, 523, 2002), (3) a similar series computed by Steffen and his colleagues (see Wedemeyer et al. in Astron. Astrophys. 44, 1121, 2004), (4) a random field with some parameters typical of the granulation, constructed by Rast (Astron. Astrophys. 392, L13, 2002). In addition, (5) a sequence of images was obtained from real granulation images by using a temporal and spatial shuffling procedure, and the contrast of the average of n images from this sequence as a function of n is analysed. The series (1) of real granulation images exhibits a considerably slower contrast decrease than do both the series (3) of simulated granulation images and the series (4) of random fields. Starting from some relatively short averaging times t, the behaviour of the contrast in series (3) and (4) resembles the t −1/2 statistical law, whereas the shuffled series (5) obeys the n −1/2 law from n=2 on. Series (2) demonstrates a peculiarly slow decline of contrast, which could be attributed to particular properties of the boundary conditions used in the simulations. Comparisons between the analysed contrast-variation laws indicate quite definitely that the brightness field of solar granulation contains a long-lived component, which could be associated with locally persistent dark intergranular holes and/or with the presence of quasi-regular structures. The suggestion that the random field (4) successfully reproduces the contrast-variation law for the real granulation (Rast in Astron. Astrophys. 392, L13, 2002) can be dismissed.  相似文献

A major legacy of the EGRET experiment aboard the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) is the detection of a large number of unidentified Gamma-ray sources. Out of the 271 EGRET sources are 170 not identified yet [Hartman et al. ApJS (123) (1999) 79]. To provide additional information on these unidentified EGRET sources, we derived simultaneous MeV fluxes or flux limits for each source by analyzing the contemporaneous COMPTEL data. Then we compare these MeV fluxes to the extrapolations of the published EGRET spectra. Our results can be grouped into 4 categories [Zhang et al. A&A (421) (2004) 983]: (1) non-constraining upper limits (∼120 sources), (2) hints (> 2 sigma) or detections with consistent MeV fluxes (∼16 sources), (3) enhanced MeV emission (2 sources), and (4) constraining MeV flux limits, requiring a spectral break (∼22 sources). In summary, for about 40 of the unidentified EGRET sources we can provide supplementary spectral information in the neighboring gamma-ray band, which – together with other source parameters – might provide clues to the underlying source nature.  相似文献

The long time photometric observations were carried out for eight asteroids: (122) Gerda, (153) Hilda, (190) Ismene, (221) Eos, (411) Xanthe, (679) Pax, (700) Auravictrix, (787) Moskva. New rotation periods have been determined for the asteroids (153) Hilda (5.959 h) and (411) Xanthe (11.408 h), and known rotation periods for some of the others have been confirmed. Using our data and others data we have estimated new pole coordinates for the observed asteroids.  相似文献

The combination of dispersion measures of pulsars, distances from the model of Cordes & Lazio (2002) and emission measures from the WHAM survey enabled a statistical study of electron densities and filling factors of the diffuse ionized gas (DIG) in the Milky Way. The emission measures were corrected for absorption and contributions from beyond the pulsar distance. For a sample of 157 pulsars at |b | > 5. and 60° < ℓ < 360°, located in mainly interarm regions within about 3 kpc from the Sun, we find that: (1) The average volume filling factor along the line of sight and the mean density in ionized clouds are inversely correlated: ( ) = (0.0184 ± 0.0011) –1.07 ± 0.03 for the ranges 0.03 < < 2 cm–3 and 0.8 > > 0.01. This relationship is very tight. The inverse correlation of and causes the well‐known constancy of the average electron density along the line of sight. As (z ) increases with distance from the Galactic plane |z |, the average size of the ionized clouds increases with |z |. (2) For |z| < 0.9 kpc the local density in clouds n c(z ) and local filling factor f (z ) are inversely correlated because the local electron density n e(z ) = f (z )n c(z ) is constant. We suggest that f (z ) reaches a maximum value of >0.3 near |z | = 0.9 kpc, whereas n c(z ) continues to decrease to higher |z |, thus causing the observed flattening in the distribution of dispersion measures perpendicular to the Galactic plane above this height. (3) For |z | < 0.9 kpc the local distributions n c(z ), f (z ) and (z ) have the same scale height which is in the range 250 < h ≲ 500 pc. (4) The average degree of ionization of the warm atomic gas (z ) increases towards higher |z | similarly to (z ). Towards |z | = 1 kpc, (z ) = 0.24 ± 0.05 and (z ) = 0.24 ± 0.02. Near |z | = 1 kpc most of the warm, atomic hydrogen is ionized. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Abstract Merrihueite (K,Na)2(Fe, Mg)5Si12O30 (na < 0.5, fe > 0.5, where na = Na/(Na + K), fe = Fe/(Fe + Mg) in atomic ratio) is a rare mineral described only in several chondrules and irregularly-shaped fragments in the Mezö-Madaras L3 chondrite (Dodd et al., 1965; Wood and Holmberg, 1994). Roedderite (Na,K)2(Mg, Fe)5Si12O30 (na > 0.5, fe < 0.5) has been found only in enstatite chondrites and in the reduced, subchondritic silicate inclusions in IAB irons (Fuchs, 1966; Rambaldi et al., 1984; Olsen, 1967). We describe silica-roedderite-bearing clasts in L/LL3.5 ALHA77011 and LL3.7 ALHA77278, a silica-roedderite-bearing chondrule in L3 Mezö-Madaras, and a silica-merrihueite-bearing chondrule in L/LL3.5 ALHA77115. The findings of merrihueite and roedderite in ALHA77011, ALHA77115, ALHA77278 and Mezö-Madaras fill the compositional gap between previously described roedderite in enstatite chondrites and silicate inclusions in IAB irons and merrihueite in Mezö-Madaras, suggesting that there is a complete solid solution of roedderite and merrihueite in meteorites. We infer that the silica- and merrihueite/roedderite-bearing chondrules and clasts experienced a complex formational history including: (a) fractional condensation in the solar nebula that produced Si-rich and Al-poor precursors, (b) melting of fractionated nebular solids resulting in the formation of silica-pyroxene chondrules, (c) in some cases, fragmentation in the nebula or on a parent body, (d) reaction of silica with alkali-rich gas that formed merrihueite/roedderite on a parent body, (e) formation of fayalitic olivine and ferrosilite-rich pyroxene due to reaction of silica with oxidized Fe on a parent body, and (f) minor thermal metamorphism, possibly generated by impacts.  相似文献

Abstract— In this paper, we review the mineralogy and chemistry of calcium‐aluminum‐rich inclusions (CAIs), chondrules, FeNi‐metal, and fine‐grained materials of the CR chondrite clan, including CR, CH, and the metal‐rich CB chondrites Queen Alexandra Range 94411, Hammadah al Hamra 237, Bencubbin, Gujba, and Weatherford. The members of the CR chondrite clan are among the most pristine early solar system materials, which largely escaped thermal processing in an asteroidal setting (Bencubbin, Weatherford, and Gujba may be exceptions) and provide important constraints on the solar nebula models. These constraints include (1) multiplicity of CAI formation; (2) formation of CAIs and chondrules in spatially separated nebular regions; (3) formation of CAIs in gaseous reservoir(s) having 16O‐rich isotopic compositions; chondrules appear to have formed in the presence of 16O‐poor nebular gas; (4) isolation of CAIs and chondrules from nebular gas at various ambient temperatures; (5) heterogeneous distribution of 26Al in the solar nebula; and (6) absence of matrix material in the regions of CAI and chondrule formation.  相似文献

Classical trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) are believed to represent the most dynamically pristine population in the trans-Neptunian belt (TNB) offering unprecedented clues about the formation of our Solar System. The long term dynamical evolution of classical TNOs was investigated using extensive simulations. We followed the evolution of more than 17000 particles with a wide range of initial conditions taking into account the perturbations from the four giant planets for 4 Gyr. The evolution of objects in the classical region is dependent on both their inclination and semimajor axes, with the inner (a<45 AU) and outer regions (a>45 AU) evolving differently. The reason is the influence of overlapping secular resonances with Uranus and Neptune (40–42 AU) and the 5:3 (a∼ ∼42.3 AU), 7:4 (a∼ ∼43.7 AU), 9:5 (a∼ ∼44.5 AU) and 11:6 (a∼ ∼ 45.0 AU) mean motion resonances strongly sculpting the inner region, while in the outer region only the 2:1 mean motion resonance (a∼ ∼47.7 AU) causes important perturbations. In particular, we found: (a) A substantial erosion of low-i bodies (i<10°) in the inner region caused by the secular resonances, except those objects that remained protected inside mean motion resonances which survived for billion of years; (b) An optimal stable region located at 45 AU<a<47 AU, q>40 AU and i>5° free of major perturbations; (c) Better defined boundaries for the classical region: 42–47.5 AU (q>38 AU) for cold classical TNOs and 40–47.5 AU (q>35 AU) for hot ones, with i=4.5° as the best threshold to distinguish between both populations; (d) The high inclination TNOs seen in the 40–42 AU region reflect their initial conditions. Therefore they should be classified as hot classical TNOs. Lastly, we report a good match between our results and observations, indicating that the former can provide explanations and predictions for the orbital structure in the classical region.  相似文献

The periodic motion of a test particle (dust, grain, or a larger body) around a pulsating star with a luminosity oscillation of small amplitude (featured by a small parameterB) is being studied. The perturbations of all orbital elements are determined to first order inB, by using Delaunay-type canonical variables and a method whose bases were put forth by von Zeipel. According to the value of the ratio oscillation frequency/dynamic frequency, three possible situations are pointed out: nonresonant (NR), quasi-resonant (QR), and resonant (R). The solution of motion equations shows that only in the (QR) and (R) cases there are orbital parameters (argument of periastron and mean anomaly) affected by secular perturbations. These solutions (which indicate a secularly stable motion in a first approximation) are valid over prediction times of orderB –1 in the (NR) case andB –1/2 in the (QR) and (R) cases. The theory may be applied to various astronomical situations.  相似文献

A model of the universe based on Brans-Dicke theory with non-vanishing cosmological constant and non-zero curvature is studied. Equations (13) and (16) have been obtained by the assumption f(t) = φ(t)a 3 (t),which give the values of the scale factor, a(t) and scalar field, φ(t) in terms of the observable parameters. Also, for a particular case of matter dominated universe, Equation (20) is obtained which gives the relation between various parameters. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Unsteady flow of an incompressible, viscous, electrically conducting fluid past an infinite porous plate has been analysed under the following assumptions: (i) suction velocity oscillates in time about a constant mean, (ii) the free-stream velocity oscillates in time about a constant mean, (iii) the plate temperature is constant, (iv) the difference between the temperature of the plate and the free-stream is moderately large causing the free-convection currents, (v) a uniform transverse magnetic field is applied, (vi) the magnetic Reynolds number is very small and hence the induced magnetic field is neglected. Approximate solutions to the coupled non-linear equations governing the flow are derived for the transient velocity, the transient temperature, the amplitude and the phase of the skin-friction and the rate of heat transfer. During the course of analysis the effects of ±G (Grashof number),P (Prandtl number),M (magnetic field parameter),A (suction parameter) and ω (frequency) are discussed.  相似文献
