Water inflow into deep excavations is a key parameter in the evaluation of environmental impact, and a simplified method is needed to calculate the inflow with adequate accuracy, especially for a deep excavation with a cutoff wall around it. This paper presents a model for calculating inflow based on the method of fragments, assuming two-dimensional sectional flow. The effects of cutoff wall thickness (w), wall penetration, and excavation width on the inflow are well considered in this model. Explicit formulas for the form factor are given. The accuracy and scope of this method are discussed. The method can be applied in both flooding and no flooding cases. Extensive verification shows that, for the flooding case and when one of four conditions is satisfied, the error of the proposed method will be within 10%. These conditions are b/d?≥?0.8 or w/d?≥?0.03 or s/d?≥?0.2 or s1/d?≥?0.2, for which b is the half width of the excavation, d is the thickness of the soil layer underlying the wall, and s and s1 are the wall penetration depths on the non-excavation side and excavation side, respectively. For the case of no flooding and when the ratio of the distance from the recharge boundary to the aquifer thickness (a/T) is?≥2, the error does not exceed 15%.  相似文献

Analytical formulae are proposed to describe the first-order temporal evolution of the head in large groundwater systems (such as those found in North Africa or eastern Australia) that are subjected to drastic modifications of their recharge conditions (such as those in Pleistocene and Holocene times). The mathematical model is based on the hydrodynamics of a mixed-aquifer system composed of a confined aquifer connected to an unconfined one with a large storage capacity. The transient behaviour of the head following a sudden change of recharge conditions is computed with Laplace transforms for linear one-dimensional and cylindrical geometries. This transient evolution closely follows an exponential trend exp(?t/τ). The time constant τ is expressed analytically as a function of the various parameters characterizing the system. In many commonly occurring situations, τ depends on only four parameters: the width a c of the main confined aquifer, its transmissivity T c, the integrated storage situated upstream in the unconfined aquifer M?=?S u a u, and a curvature parameter accounting for convergence/divergence effects. This model is applied to the natural decay of large aquifer basins of the Sahara and Australia following the end of the mid-Holocene humid period. The observed persistence of the resource is discussed on the basis of the time constant estimated with the system parameters. This comparison confirms the role of the upstream water reserve, which is modelled as an unconfined aquifer, and highlights the significant increase of the time constant in case of converging flow.  相似文献

Because of economic and technical limitations, measuring solar energy received at ground level (R s ) isn’t possible in all parts of the country, and in only 12% of synoptic stations is this parameter measured and recorded. Thus, it should be estimated and modeled spatially based on other climatic variables using mathematical methods. In this research, many attempts have been made to introduce an air temperature-based model for Rs estimation, and then, based on the output of the mentioned models, several geostatistical methods have been tested, and finally an elegant spatial model is proposed for (Rs) zoning in Iran. In this regard, the relationships between the measured amounts of monthly solar radiation and other climatic parameters, such as a monthly average, maximum and minimum temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, and the number of sunny hours during the period 1970–2010, are examined and modeled. It was revealed that based on the linear relationship between the monthly average air temperatures and solar radiation values recorded in each of the stations, that the best-fit linear model, with R 2  = 0.822, MAE = 1.81, RMSE = 2.51%, and MAPE = 10.08, can be introduced for Rs estimation. Then, using the outputs of the proposed model, the amounts of (R s ) are estimated in another 171 meteorological stations (a total of 192 stations), and eight geostatistical methods (IDW, GPI, RBF, LPI, OK, SK, UK, and EBK) were investigated for zoning. Comparing the resulting variograms showed that in addition to proof of spatial correlation between solar radiation data, they can be applied for modeling changes in various directions. Analyzing the ratio of the nugget effect on the roof of the variograms showed that the Gaussian model with the lowest ratio (Co/Co + C = 0.883) and (R 2  = 0.972), could model the highest correlation between the data and, therefore, it was used for data interpolation. To select the best geostatistical model, R2, MAE, and RMSE were used. On this basis, it was found that the RBF method with R 2  = 0.904, MAE = 3.02, RMSE = 0.39% is the most effective. Also, the IDW method with R 2  = 0.90, MAE = 3.08, RMSE = 0.391%, compared to other methods is the most effective. In addition, for data validation, correlations between observed and estimated values of solar radiation were studied and found R 2  = 0.86.  相似文献

This paper examines the influence of porous media deformation on water-table wave dispersion in an unconfined aquifer using a numerical model which couples Richards’ equation to the poro-elastic model. The study was motivated by the findings of Shoushtari et al. (J Hydrol 533:412–440, 2016) who were unable to reproduce the observed wave dispersion in their sand flume data with either numerical Richards’ equation models (assuming rigid porous media) or existing analytic solutions. The water-table wave dispersion is quantified via the complex wave number extracted from the predicted amplitude and phase profiles. A sensitivity analysis was performed to establish the influence of the main parameters in the poro-elastic model, namely Young’s modulus (E) and Poisson’s ratio (ν). For a short oscillation period (T?=?16.4 s), the phase lag increase rate (k i) is sensitive to the chosen values of E and ν, demonstrating an inverse relationship with both parameters. Changes in the amplitude decay rate (k r), however, were negligible. For a longer oscillation period (T?=?908.6 s), variations in the values of E and ν resulted in only small changes in both k r and k i. In both the short and long period cases, the poro-elastic model is unable to reproduce the observed wave dispersion in the existing laboratory data. Hence porous media deformation cannot explain the additional energy dissipation in the laboratory data. The aquifuge stability is the key to study the impacts of coal mining on the aquifer. Based on the geological conditions of a mine in Yili of Xinjiang, China, this paper has studied the stability evolution laws of clay aquifuge during extremely thick coal seam mining by similar material simulation experiment in the laboratory. For the water-swelling and expansion property of clay aquifuge, the reasonable proportion of the similar material is firstly determined by taking the uniaxial compressive strength and the permeability coefficient as core indexes. Then, the overlying strata movement coupled solid–liquid physical model is established. In addition, the aquifuge deformation, the water level changes of the aquifer, and the height of fracture zone in overburden are analyzed during the slice mining. The research results indicate that the clay aquifuge will gradually occur instability failure during the mining of the working face, and the aquifuge stability has the threshold effects. When the ratio of the vertical displacement of the aquifuge to the thickness is Dv/T?≤?58.0%, the ratio of the horizontal displacement to the thickness is Dh/T?≤?17.0%, and the height of fractured zone in overburden is below the aquifuge, the mining-induced fractures may be closed and the aquifuge stability could be maintained. If Dv/T?≥?75.0%, Dh/T?≥?23.9%, and the height of fractured zone in overburden is within the aquifuge, the fractures will develop and connect the aquifuge and the stability failure of the aquifuge will occur, which has a direct correlation with the mining height.  相似文献

Absorption of the synchrotron emission of the quasar 3C 345 in the continuum and H(93–95)α and H(78–79)α radio recombination lines is studied. The upper limit for absorption in the H(93–95)α lines is Tal/Tac < 0.7%; absorption in the H(78–79)α lines with antenna temperature Tal = 25 mK, linewidth Δf = 5.3 ± 0.08 MHz, and Tal/Tac ≥ 0.3% has been detected. A correction to the redshift Δz = 0.00135 ± 0.00008 (z = 0.59365) has been determined.  相似文献

We have determined the main parameters of the old precataclysmic variable stars MS Peg and LM Com. The radial velocities of the components, reflection effects in the spectra, and light curves of the systems are studied based on model stellar atmospheres subject to external irradiation. Forty-seven moderate-resolution spectra for MS Peg and 57 for LM Com obtained with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory are used to derive the refined orbital periods of 0.1736660 days and 0.2586873 days, respectively; the orbital eccentricities do not exceed e=0.04. The mass (M w =0.49e) and radius (e w =0.015R) of the MS Peg primary calculated using the gravitational redshift correspond to those for a cooling carbon white dwarf with a thin hydrogen envelope. The parameters of the red dwarf (M r =0.19M, Teff=3560 K, R r =0.18R) are close to those derived from evolutionary tracks for main-sequence M stars with solar chemical composition. The radius (R r =0.22R) and temperature (Teff=3650 K) of the LM Com secondary exceed theoretical estimates for main-sequence stars with masses of M r =0.17M. The luminosity excess of the red dwarf in LM Com can be explained by a prolonged (T>5×106 yrs) relaxation of the M star to its normal state after the binary leaves the common-envelope stage. For both systems, theoretical U, B, V, and R light curves and spectra calculated using the adopted sets of parameters are generally consistent with the observations. This confirms the radiative origin of the hot spots, the unimportance of horizontal radiative transport, and the absence of large-scale velocity fields with high values (Vtrans>50 km/s) at the surfaces of the secondaries. Most of the emission lines in the spectra of these objects are formed under conditions close to thermalization, enabling modeling of their pro files in an LTE approximation. A strong λ3905 Å emission line has been identified as the 3s23p4s 1P0-3s23p2 1S SiI λ3905.52 Å line formed in the atmosphere of the hot spot. The observed intensity can be explained by non-LTE “superionization” of SiI atoms by soft UV radiation from the white dwarf. We suggest a technique for identifying binaries whose cool components are subject to UV irradiation based on observations of λ3905 Å emission in their spectra.  相似文献

For feasibility studies and preliminary design estimates, field measurements of shear wave velocity, V s, may not be economically adequate and empirical correlations between V s and more available penetration measurements such as cone penetration test, CPT, data turn out to be potentially valuable at least for initial evaluation of the small-strain stiffness of soils. These types of correlations between geophysical (Vs) and geotechnical (N-SPT, q c-CPT) measurements are also of utmost importance where a great precision in the calculation of the deposit response is required such as in liquefaction evaluation or earthquake ground response analyses. In this study, the stress-normalized shear wave velocity V s1 (in m/s) is defined as statistical functions of the normalized dimensionless resistance, Q tn-CPT, and the mean effective diameter, D 50 (in mm), using a data set of different uncemented soils of Holocene age accumulated at various sites in North America, Europe, and Asia. The V s1Q tn data exhibit different trends with respect to grain sizes. For soils with mean grain size (D 50) < 0.2 mm, the V s1/Q tn 0.25 ratio undergoes a significant reduction with the increase in D 50 of the soil. This trend is completely reversed with further increase in D 50 (D 50 > 0.2 mm). These results corroborate earlier results that stressed the use of different CPT-based correlations with different soil types, and those emphasized the need to impose particle-size limits on the validity of the majority of available correlations.  相似文献

Analyses are presented of long-term hydrographs perturbed by variable pumping/injection events in a confined aquifer at a municipal water-supply well field in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario (Canada). Such records are typically not considered for aquifer test analysis. Here, the water-level variations are fingerprinted to pumping/injection rate changes using the Theis model implemented in the WELLS code coupled with PEST. Analyses of these records yield a set of transmissivity (T) and storativity (S) estimates between each monitoring and production borehole. These individual estimates are found to poorly predict water-level variations at nearby monitoring boreholes not used in the calibration effort. On the other hand, the geometric means of the individual T and S estimates are similar to those obtained from previous pumping tests conducted at the same site and adequately predict water-level variations in other boreholes. The analyses reveal that long-term municipal water-level records are amenable to analyses using a simple analytical solution to estimate aquifer parameters. However, uniform parameters estimated with analytical solutions should be considered as first rough estimates. More accurate hydraulic parameters should be obtained by calibrating a three-dimensional numerical model that rigorously captures the complexities of the site with these data.  相似文献

Spectroscopic and photometric data for the two rapidly rotating members of the α Persei cluster He 373 and AP 225 are analyzed. Improved estimates have been obtained for the projected equatorial rotation velocities: v sin i = 164 km/s for He 323 and v sin i = 129 km/s for AP 225. Multi-band photometric mapping is used to map the spot distributions on the surfaces of the two stars. The fractional spotted areas S and mean temperature difference ΔT between the unspotted photosphere and the spots are estimated (S = 7% and ΔT = 1000 K for He 373; S = 9% and ΔT = 800 K for AP 225). The H α line profiles of both stars have variable emission components whose widths are used to deduce the presence of extended regions of emission reaching the corotation radius.  相似文献

The results of hydrodynamical calculations of radially pulsating helium stars with masses 0.5MM≤0.9M, bolometric luminosities 600L≤5×103L, and effective temperatures 1.5×104 K≤Teff≤3.5×104 K are presented. The pulsation instability of these stars is due to the effects of ionization of iron-group elements in layers with temperatures T~2×105 K. The calculations were carried out using opacities for the relative mass abundances of hydrogen and heavy elements X=0 and Z=0.01, 0.015, and 0.02. Approximate formulas for the pulsation constant Q over the entire range of pulsation instability of the hot helium stars in terms of the mass M, radius R, effective temperature Teff, and heavy-element abundance Z are derived. The instability of BX Cir to radial pulsations with the observed period Π=0.1066 d occurs only for a mass M≥0.55M, effective temperature Teff≥23000 K, and heavy-element abundance Z≥0.015. The allowed mass of BX Cir is in the range 0.55MM≤0.8M, which corresponds to luminosities 800LM≤1400L and mean radii 1.7R?R?2.1R.  相似文献

Textural variational pattern of economic and accessible Quaternary aquifer repositories and its conductivity in the south-eastern Nigeria have been assessed through the integration of vertical electrical sounding and laboratory measurements. The results have shown the lithological attributes, pore-water and amount of residual clay minerals in the assumed clean sand; mechanism of charge fixation at the fluid - surface interface; intricate geometry of pores and pore channels; formation’s ability to transmit pore-water and cation exchange capacity. The connections of electrical and hydraulic properties and their distributions have been established. The average interface conductivity contributed by residual clay minerals in assumed clean sands of the aquifer repositories in the study area have been estimated as 30µS/m. Intrinsic average porosity and formation factor have been respectively deduced as 12% and 14.75. Comparing the simulated aquifer formation factor obtained from the observed porosity data with the observed aquifer formation factor, indicates the that study area has 0.5 ≤ a ≤ 0.8 pore geometry factor and 1.5 ≤ m ≤ 2.0 cementation factor as the best fitting values. The interrelations between aquifer parameters have been established through different plots and the aquifer have been empirically proved to be associated with residual clay minerals as the interface conductivity Cq is not equal to zero. The wide ranges of parameters estimated are an indication of variations in grain size. The estimated intrinsic average porosity, formation factor and the average BQv are viable in characterizing the aquifer flow dynamics and contaminant modelling in the associated aquifer sands For low pore geometry factors a (0.2) and low cementation factor m (0.5) the formation factor remains fairly constant. However, marked variability is noticed at higher a (1.0) and m (2.5). Despite the observed variability in formation factors at the indicated porosities, the spatial or geometrical spread of the formation factor remains unchanged in the aquifer units. The Tables for geoelectric and petrophysical parameters and the associated mathematical models generated in this study can be used for groundwater contaminant modelling and simulation of pore space parameters with reasonable accuracy.  相似文献

Shear heating by reverse faulting on a sharp straight fault plane is modelled. Increase in temperature (T i ) of faulted hangingwall and footwall blocks by frictional/shear heating for planar rough reverse faults is proportional to the coefficient of friction (μ), density and thickness of the hangingwall block (ρ). T i increases as movement progresses with time. Thermal conductivity (K i ) and thermal diffusivity (\(k_{\mathrm {i}}^{\prime }\)) of faulted blocks govern T i but they do not bear simple relation. T i is significant only near the fault plane. If the lithology is dry and faulting brings adjacent hangingwall and footwall blocks of the same lithology in contact, those blocks undergo the same rate of increase in shear heating per unit area per unit time.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to quantify the magnitudes of surface conduction and pore water conduction from the measured electrical conductivity of kaolinite, with the ultimate goal of estimating the electrical conductivity of kaolinite with a wide range of pore water conductivities (σ w = 0.013–3.356 S/m) and porosities (n = 0.368–1.0). Therefore, the theoretical background of the electrical conductivity in soils was reviewed, and electrical conductivity measurements on kaolinite were performed using both slurry and consolidation tests in this study. The results of this study demonstrate that the variations of measured electrical conductivity (σ mix) with n are debatable according to the values of σ w, because a decrease in n results in both an increase in surface conduction (K s) and a decrease in pore water conduction (K w); this causes the relative magnitude of K s compared to that of K w to vary with σ w and n. Consequently, this study develops the relation between the porosity-normalized K s/K w and 1/σ w. Additionally, the surface conductivity of the tested kaolinite is back-calculated and compared with the previous relationship between K s and zeta potential of kaolinite. The measured and estimated σ mix values are compared with the varying pore water conductivity and porosity values.  相似文献

Pyroxenes of general stoichiometry Mg(Ge x Si1?x )O3 were encountered in attempts to synthesise Ge-substituted talcs at 0.2 GPa, 650–700 °C. Orthopyroxenes (Pbca) of compositions x = 0.21, 0.30, and 0.34 were identified, and also a P21/c clinopyroxene of composition x = 0.63, and C2/c clinopyroxenes of compositions x = 0.91 and 1. End-member clinoenstatite MgSiO3-P21/c synthesised at 16 GPa, 1300 °C and transformed from C2/c was also included in the study. Crystal structure refinements using single-crystal XRD data showed that unit-cell parameters vary linearly with Si–Ge for the Pbca and P21/c pyroxenes, both of which have two symmetrically non-equivalent tetrahedral chains. Refinement of Si–Ge occupancies at tetrahedral sites showed that the two chains of all primitive pyroxenes have very different compositions, with XGe(TB) ? XGe(TA). This difference arises from the greater flexibility of the B-chain to rotate in response to tetrahedral expansion due to increasing Ge content. The TA-M2 shared polyhedral edge imposes significant constraints on the flexibility of the A-chain, which can accommodate much less Ge than the B-chain. Linear trends of cell parameters, site occupancies, and structural parameters for the primitive pyroxenes, when extrapolated to published data for MgGeO3Pbca, extend across the entire Si–Ge join.  相似文献

The undrained shear strength (s u) of cohesive soils is a crucial parameter for many geotechnical engineering applications. Due to the complexities and uncertainties associated with laboratory and in situ tests, it is a challenging task to obtain the undrained shear strength in a reliable and economical manner. In this study, a probabilistic model for the s u of moderately overconsolidated clays is developed using the Bayesian model class selection approach. The model is based on a comprehensive geotechnical database compiled for this study with field measurements of field vane strength (s u), plastic limit (PL), natural water content (W n), liquid limit (LL), vertical effective overburden stress (\(\sigma_{\nu }^{\prime }\)), preconsolidation pressure (\(\sigma_{\text{p}}^{\prime }\)) and overconsolidated ratio (OCR). Comparison study shows that the proposed model is superior to some well-known empirical relationships for OC clays. The proposed probabilistic model not only provides reliable and economical estimation of s u but also facilitates reliability-based analysis and design for performance-based engineering applications.  相似文献

This study analyzed 267 landslide landforms (LLs) in the Kumamoto area of Japan from the database of about 0.4 million LLs for the whole of Japan identified from aerial photos by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience of Japan (NIED). Each LL in the inventory is composed of a scarp and a moving mass. Since landslides are prone to reactivation, it is important to evaluate the sliding-recurrence susceptibility of LLs. One possible approach to evaluate the susceptibility of LLs is slope stability analysis. A previous study found a good correlation (R 2 = 0.99) between the safety factor (F s ) and slope angle (α) of F s  = 17.3α ?0.843. We applied the equation to the analysis of F s for 267 LLs in the area affected by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake (M j  = 7.3). The F s was calculated for the following three cases of failure: scarps only, moving mass only, and scarps and moving mass together. Verification with the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake event shows that the most appropriate method for the evaluation of LLs is to consider the failure of scarps and moving mass together. In addition, by analyzing the relationship between the factors of slope of entire landslide and slope of scarp for LLs and comparing the results with the Aso-ohashi landslide, the largest landslide caused by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, we also found that morphometric analysis of LLs is useful for forecasting the travel distance of future landslides.  相似文献

The thermal evolution of 10-Å phase Mg3Si4O10(OH)2·H2O, a phyllosilicate which may have an important role in the storage/release of water in subducting slabs, was studied by X-ray single-crystal diffraction in the temperature range 116–293 K. The lattice parameters were measured at several intervals both on cooling and heating. The structural model was refined with intensity data collected at 116 K and compared to the model refined at room temperature. As expected for a layer silicate on cooling in this temperature range, the a and b lattice parameters undergo a small linear decrease, α a  = 1.7(4) 10?6 K?1 and α b  = 1.9(4) 10?6 K?1, where α is the linear thermal expansion coefficient. The greater variation is along the c axis and can be modeled with the second order polynomial c T  = c 293(1 + 6.7(4)10?5 K?1ΔT + 9.5(2.5)10?8 K?2T)2) where ΔT = T ? 293 K; the monoclinic angle β slightly increased. The cell volume thermal expansion can be modeled with the polynomial V T  V 293 (1 + 8.0 10?5 K?1 ΔT + 1.4 10?7 K?2T)2) where ΔT = T ? 293 is in K and V in Å3. These variations were similar to those expected for a pressure increase, indicating that T and P effects are approximately inverse. The least-squares refinement with intensity data measured at 116 K shows that the volume of the SiO4 tetrahedra does not change significantly, whereas the volume of the Mg octahedra slightly decreases. To adjust for the increased misfit between the tetrahedral and octahedral sheets, the tetrahedral rotation angle α changes from 0.58° to 1.38°, increasing the ditrigonalization of the silicate sheet. This deformation has implications on the H-bonds between the water molecule and the basal oxygen atoms. Furthermore, the highly anisotropic thermal ellipsoid of the H2O oxygen indicates positional disorder, similar to the disorder observed at room temperature. The low-temperature results support the hypothesis that the disorder is static. It can be modeled with a splitting of the interlayer oxygen site with a statistical distribution of the H2O molecules into two positions, 0.6 Å apart. The resulting shortest Obas–OW distances are 2.97 Å, with a significant shortening with respect to the value at room temperature. The low-temperature behavior of the H-bond system is consistent with that hypothesized at high pressure on the basis of the Raman spectra evolution with P.  相似文献

Inversion methods that rely on measurements of the hydraulic head h cannot capture the fine-scale variability of the hydraulic properties of an aquifer. This is particularly true for direct inversion methods, which have the further limitation of providing only deterministic results. On the other hand, stochastic simulation methods can reproduce the fine-scale heterogeneity but cannot directly incorporate information about the hydraulic gradient. In this work, a hybrid approach is proposed to join a direct inversion method (the comparison model method, CMM) and multiple-point statistics (MPS), for determination of a hydraulic transmissivity field T from a map of a reference hydraulic head \(h^\mathrm {(ref)}\) and a prior model of the heterogeneity (a training image). The hybrid approach was tested and compared with pure MPS and pure CMM approaches in a synthetic case study. Also, sensitivity analysis was performed to test the importance of the acceptance threshold \(\delta \), a simulation parameter that allows one to tune the influence of \(h^\mathrm {(ref)}\) on the final results. The transmissivity fields T obtained using the hybrid approach take into account information coming from the hydraulic gradient while simultaneously reproducing some of the fine-scale features provided by the training image. Furthermore, many realizations of T can be obtained thanks to the stochasticity of MPS. Nevertheless, it is not straightforward to exploit the correlation between the T maps provided by the CMM and the prior model introduced by the training image, because the former depends on the boundary conditions and flow settings. Another drawback is the growing number of simulation parameters introduced when combining two diverse methods. At the same time, this growing complexity opens new possibilities that deserve further investigation.  相似文献

The combined use of pumping and tracer test data enabled the derivation of equivalent average hydraulic conductivities (Kavg) for each test in a heterogeneous channelized alluvial aquifer, whereas K values of the preferential flow paths were two orders of magnitude higher. Greater and earlier drawdown was generally observed along preferential flow lines in a pumping test, within an array of 21 wells. The study aim was to characterize hydraulic properties of a channelized aquifer system in New Zealand by combining tracer and pumping test data. Estimates were able to be made of the percentage of highly permeable channels within the profile (~1.2%), effective porosity that reflected the maximum fraction of highly permeable channels within the aquifer (?eff–pc ~0.0038), and flows through highly permeable channels (~98%) and the sandy gravel matrix material (~2%). Using ?eff–pc, a tracer test Kavg value (~93 m/day) was estimated that was equivalent to pumping test values (~100 m/day), but two orders of magnitude smaller than K calculated solely from transport through permeable channels (Kpc ~8,400 m/day). Derived K values of permeable and matrix material were similar to values derived from grain size distribution using the Kozeny-Carman equation.  相似文献
