Measurements of the Sun in the near-infrared He i 10830 Å absorption line were performed using the echelle spectrograph with a dispersion of 6.71 mÅ per pixel at the Vacuum Tower Telescope (German Solar Telescopes, Teide Observatory, Izaña, Tenerife, Spain) on May 26, 1993. These measurements were compared with full-disc soft X-ray images of the Sun (Japanese solar satellite Yohkoh), full-disc solar images in H (Big Bear Solar Observatory), full-disc solar images in the He i 10830 Å line (National Solar Observatory, Kitt Peak) and with full-disc microwave solar maps at 37 GHz (Metsähovi Radio Research Station). In the He 10830 Å line the Sun displays a limb darkening similar to that in the visible part of the spectrum. Active regions and H filaments show a strong absorption in the He 10830 Å line, whereas the absorption is weak in coronal holes.  相似文献

CS(J=1–0), C34S(J=1–0), and CH3OH(10–00A and E) emission lines in the core region of molecular cloud associated with NGC 7538 have been surveyed at angular resolution of 33. Distribution of CS column density shows two prominent peaks. Both blue and red wings in CS line are most prominent at 30 northwest of IRS 11.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.This work was carried out under the common use observation program at the Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO). A logN — logS relation at 10 GHz is constructed for sources with the flat spectra 0.5 (flux densitySv ) from observations at NRO, MPIfR and others. Based on the source distribution on log (Luminosity) volume plane we obtain an epoch-depending luminosity function which explains the above relation.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.Nobeyama Radio Observatory, a branch of the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory, University of Tokyo, is a facility open for general use by researchers in the field of astronomy and astrophysics.  相似文献

We describe the new Solar Radio Spectrograph which has been operated at the Nançay Radio Astronomy Station since December 1978 for the analog part (which uses photographic film data acquisition) and since July 1979 using digital magnetic recording. This instrument was designed and built by the Space Research Department of the Paris Observatory and covers the range 469–110 MHz.The multichannel receiver yields a high sensitivity, as compared to a sweep-frequency receiver and the frequency windows where external interference is present can be eliminated from the data acquisition. The digital recording leads to convenient intensity calibration procedures and allows a modern data-handling over a large dynamic range: 50 dB with a 11 bit resolution.Intermodulation effects due to non linearities have been kept to a minimum by building the multiplexer as a tree and distributing the amplification along. The time resolution allows the data to be acquired at a rate of 100 samples per second per frequency channel. The frequency resolution can take two values: 120 channels 1 MHz-wide and 100 channels 200 kHz-wide can be positioned anywhere in the range 110–469 MHz.Some observations are shown including type V and type II-like bursts and harmonically related emission in hook structures. Some future plans are briefly mentioned aiming to perform circular polarization measurements in 120 frequency channels and real time data compression. Also at Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Athens, Greece.  相似文献

Defining the solar brightness temperature accurately at millimeter wavelengths has always been challenging. One of the main reasons has been the lack of a proper calibration source. New Moon was used earlier as a calibration source. We carried out a new extensive set of observations at 8 mm using the New Moon for calibration. The solar and Moon observations were made using the 14-meter radiotelescope operated by the Aalto University Metsähovi Radio Observatory in Finland. In this article, we present our method for defining the brightness temperature of the quiet-Sun level (QSL). Based on these observations, we found \(8100~\mbox{K} \pm 300~\mbox{K}\) to be the mean value for the QSL temperature. This value is between the values that were reported in earlier studies.  相似文献

We give the results of photographic, photoelectric, and spectral observations of the flare star PP Ori. The 109 photographic observations used, which were obtained on the 40 Schmidt telescope of the Byurakan Observatory over a period of about 20 years, and four spectra obtained on the same telescope with a objective prism show no variation in brightness. Photoelectric observations in the UBVR bands using the 50cm and 60cm telescopes of the high-altitude Maidanak station of the Tashkent Astronomical Institute in 1987 and 1989 give grounds for suspecting a variation in brightness much larger than observational errors. Spectral observations of the star PP Ori made on the 2.6m telescope of the Byurakan Observatory show weak H emission. The results of all these observations show that PP Ori is an Orion variable of spectral class K7-M0 with absolute visual magnitude7 m 5–8 m 5.Translated fromAstrofizika, Vol. 38, No. 2, 1995.  相似文献

The Gauribidanur Radioheliograph   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new radio heliograph for obtaining two-dimensional images of the solar corona sequentially at many frequencies in the range 40–150 MHz has been built by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics at the Gauribidanur Radio Observatory (lat. 13°3612 N and long. 77°2707 E) about 100 km north of Bangalore, India. This paper describes various aspects of the antenna system, receiver front end, digital hardware, the data acquisition and the calibration procedure. The performance of the instrument is illustrated with maps of the continuum emission from the undisturbed corona at different frequencies.  相似文献

High resolution strip maps of CS (J=1–0) and H51 line emission across the Orion bright bar are presented. They reveal the existence of a high density molecular layer (molecular sheet) plane parallel to the ionization front. This molecular sheet is redshifted relative to the ambient molecular cloud by about 2 km s–1. The rapid decrease of the CS emission at about 50 arc sec from the bar suggests that a shock front exists here and the sheet is a post shock layer.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.This work was carried out under the common use observation program at the Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO). We measured the frequency dependence of the pulsar pulse broadening by scattering over a wide frequency range, from 40 to 2228 MHz, based on direct measurements of this parameter using giant pulses from the pulsar PSR B0531+21 in the Crab Nebula. Our measurements were carried out at the following seven frequencies: 40, 60, and 111 MHz at the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Astrospace Center, Lebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences), 406 MHz at the Medicina Observatory (Instituto di Radioastronomia, Italy), and 594, 1430, and 2228 MHz at the Kalyazin Radio Astronomy Observatory (Astrospace Center, Lebedev Physical Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences). The measured frequency dependence of the pulse broadening by scattering τSC (υ) ? υγ, where γ=?3.8±0.2, agrees with a model Gaussian distribution of interstellar inhomogeneities (γ=?4) but falls outside the error limits of correspondence to a Kolmogorov model spectrum of inhomogeneities (γ=?4.4).  相似文献

The near infrared camera (NIRC) was used for a science demonstration run on the Keck telescope during 16–24 March 1993. The camera used a 256×256 InSb array manufactured by Santa Barbara Research Corporation. Observations were obtained using narrowband and broad band filters from 1 to 2.4 microns, and grisms with a spectral resolution of 0.6 percent in the J, H and K atmospheric windows. The instrument was fully background limited over the entire wavelength range. The sky background was quite low, reaching 14.3 mag/square arc sec in the broadband K s filter. The image quality of the camera + telescope was excellent, being seeing limited in the range 0.5–0.9.The science demonstration observations of the NIRC on the Keck Telescope included observations of the most distant galaxy known, 4C41.17 at a redshift z=3.8 and the most luminous object known, the IRAS source FSC10214+4724 at a redshift z=2.29. Observations of the radio galaxy address the problem of the alignment effect in high redshift radio galaxies as well as the environments of such systems. FSC10214+4724 appears to be a merging galaxy that is at least 5×108 years old.Based on observations obtained at the W.M.Keck Observatory, which is operated jointly by the California Institute of Technology and the University of CaliforniaThe W.M. A few methods of estimating Fried's parameter (r 0) from specklegrams of solar features are described. Some of these methods were used to estimate r 0 for the speckle data obtained from Kodaikanal Observatory (KO), Uttar Pradesh State Observatory (UPSO) and Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO). The average value of r 0 was found to be 3 cm at USO and UPSO during our observations. At KO, values of r 0 ranging from 6 to 10 cm were estimated.  相似文献

We searched for a variation with heliographic latitude of the solar limb effect by comparing the relative wavelengths of weak and strong Fraunhofer lines. The blue shifts associated with the limb effect appear 9%±5% larger in the polar radius vector than in an equatorial radius vector at cos = 0.5. This should perhaps be interpreted as an increase with latitude of either solar convection or of convective overshoot. Recent observations of poleward meridional flows of 30m s–1 should be corrected for this limb effect variation. This correction increases this flow velocity to 70 m s–1. A search for a similar variation in plages and in network boundaries had negative results, the variation being +1%±5% and -1%±6% respectively. Now at the Multiple Mirror Telescope Observatory, University of Arizona, Tucson, Ariz. 85721, U.S.A. Radio images and spectra of an eruptive prominence were obtained from simultaneous multifrequency observations at 36 GHz, 89 GHz, and 110 GHz on May 28, 1991 with the 45-m radio telescope at Nobeyama Radio Observatory (NRO), the National Astronomical Observatory, Japan (NAOJ). The radio spectra indicated that the optical depth is rather thick at 36 GHz whereas it is thin at 89 and 110 GHz. The H data, taken at Norikura Solar Observatory, NAOJ, suggest that the eruption of an active region filament was triggered by an H flare. The shape and position of the radio prominence generally coincided with those of H images. The radio emission is explained with an isothermal cool thread model. A lower limit for the electron temperature of the cool threads is estimated to be 6100 K. The range of the surface filling factors of the cool threads is 0.3–1.0 after the H flare, and 0.2–0.5 in the descending phase of the eruptive prominence. The column emission measure and the electron number density are estimated to be of the order of 1028 cm–5 and 1010 cm–3, respectively. The physical parameters of a quiescent prominence are also estimated from the observations. The filling factors of the eruptive prominence are smaller than those of the quiescent prominence, whereas the emission measures and the electron densities are similar. These facts imply that each cool thread of the prominence did not expand after the eruption, while the total volume of the prominence increased.  相似文献

Polar coronal plumes are modeled using concentrations of magnetic flux at 1.01R , and assuming the field is current-free, or a potential field. Identifying the density enhancement of plumes with magnetic flux concentration produces good agreement between 1.01R and 1.10R , for model conditions of a large background magnetic field and a plume separation of 50 000 to 70 000 km at the base. Beyond 1.10R , both plumes and the potential field diverge very nearly as r 2.Also Department of Astrogeophysics, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colo. 80309, U.S.A. Absorption band spectra of BH and BO have been searched for and not found in spectra of sunspots.Electronic oscillator strengths are available only for the A 1 -X 1 + system of the BH molecule. The absence of the (0,0) band of BH at 4332 Å reflects a solar abundance of boron logA B<2.5.The band spectra of BN are several orders of magnitude weaker in sunspots than those of BH and BO.Kitt Peak National Observatory Contribution No. 488.Visiting Astronomer, Solar Division, Kitt Peak National Observatory - Operated by The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc., under contract with the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

Existing models of the solar atmosphere predict a limb brightening in the far infrared wavelengths. At shorter wavelengths this effect is confined to the extreme limb but at 25 it extends inward from the limb to cos = 0.3. Observations of I()/I(1.0) were made with the McMath Solar Telescope through atmospheric windows at 10.4, 17.9, 20.4, and 24.2 microns, respectively. The measurements, after having been smoothed, are compared with the theoretical predictions taking into account the diffraction pattern of the telescope. The expected brightening does not appear.Kitt Peak National Observatory Contribution No. 260. - Operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc., under contract with the National Science Foundation.Presently at Kitt Peak National Observatory, Tucson, Ariz., U.S.A.  相似文献

UBV light curves obtained in 1975 for both components of ADS 9537 are presented. These light curves and the light curve of BV Dra by Yamasaki have been solved for geometrical parameters using the synthesis method under two hypotheses explaining theW-subclass light curves: (1) temperature excess of the less massive components; (2) spots on the more massive components; the results are very similar. Because of the poor determinacy of the solutions, mass-ratios have been assumed:q=0.8 for BV Dra and a range inq for BW Dra; our solutions suggest preference for smallerq in the latter system. We compare both variables and conclude that they follow the Main Sequence dependences. We give also a bried discussion of the existing information on other contact binaries in multiple (visual) systems: the contact binaries seem to follow the same statistical distributions for occurrence in multiples as found for detached binaries but severe selection effects limit detectability for multiple systems with wide orbits having semi-axes below 100 a.u.On leave from the Warsaw University Observatory.Visiting Astronomer, Kitt Peak National Observatory which is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc., under contract with the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

The Solar Maximum Mission Satellite, the Sacramento Peak Vacuum Tower Telescope, the Very Large Array and the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope have been used to observe active region AR 2490 on two consecutive days at soft X-ray, ultraviolet, optical and radio wavelengths (2, 6, and 20 cm), with comparable angular resolution (2 to 15) and field of view (4 × 4). The radio emissions at = 6 cm and 20 cm show a double structure in which one component is associated with bright H plage, C iv and soft X-ray emission, and the other component is associated only with sunspots. No radiation at = 2 cm is detected in this latter component. Coronal temperature and emission measure derived from X-ray lines indicate that the dominant radiation mechanism of the plage-associated component is due to thermal bremsstrahlung while the gyroresonance absorption coefficient must be invoked to account for the high brightness temperature (T b 2×106K) observed in the sunspot associated component. The high magnetic field strength needed (600 G at a level where T2×106K) is explained assuming a thin transition zone, in order to reach a high electron temperature close to the sunspot, where the magnetic fields are stronger. A higher temperature gradient above sunspots is also consistent with the absence of detectable C iv emission.Cooperative study of the SMY-FBS Project. On leave from the University of Napoli. On leave from the University of Torino. On sabbatical leave 1980–81 at the Arcetri Observatory. On leave from Toyokawa Observatory, Japan.  相似文献

A nonpolytropic model of a polar coronal hole at 2 R R 5 R is constructed. Our main assumptions are: (1) the magnetic structure of the Sun can be described by a combination of dipole-like and radial fields; (2) in the magnetically dominated region [(v 2/2) < (B 2/8)] the influence of the outflow on the magnetic structure is negligible. The magnetic and thermodynamic structures are obtained by solving the force balance equation for plasma with the observationally derived electron density. Profiles of velocities in the acceleration regime are presented and the influence of the outflow on the thermodynamic structure of the solar corona above the polar region is discussed. This paper is the first part of a joint project of the Space Environment Laboratory, the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics, and the High Altitude Observatory, NCAR.
