The combination of magmatic, structural and fission track (FT) data is used to unravel Oligocene/Miocene near-surface tectonics in the internal Western Alps. This includes reburial of parts of the already exhumed Sesia-Lanzo Zone and their subsequent re-exhumation. We define blocks mainly on the base of their Oligocene–Miocene cooling history (FT data) and on published paleomagnetic data. The preservation of a paleosurface allows a detailed reconstruction of the exhumation, burial and re-exhumation of different tectonic blocks. Near-surface, rigid block rotation is responsible for the reburial of the Lower Oligocene paleosurface in part of the Sesia-Lanzo Zone (the Cervo Block) and for the conjugate uplift of deeper portions of the Ivrea-Verbano Zone (the Sessera-Ossola Block). This block rotation around the same horizontal axes produces in the currently exposed portions of the two blocks, quite different temperature/time paths. While the surface of the Cervo Block is buried, the lower part of the Sessera-Ossola Block is uplifted. The rotation is constrained between the age of emplacement of the Biella Volcanic Suite on top of the Sesia-Lanzo Zone (32.5?Ma) and the intrusion of the Valle del Cervo Pluton (30.5?Ma). After this relative fast movements, the concerned blocks remained in (or underneath) the partial annealing zone of zircon until in Aquitanian times they were rapidly uplifted into the partial annealing zone of apatite. The further stage of exhumation out of the partial annealing zone of apatite extends over the entire Miocene. At that time, units of the external Western Alps underwent fast exhumation (external Brian?onnais, Valais). In addition to the well-known post-collisional deformation in the axial- and external Western Alps, the internal units (i.e., the upper plate) hold an apparent stable position in terms of exhumation.  相似文献

In order to evaluate the quality of the land gravity data in the latest global gravity database V23, the authors chose the gravity data of eight blocks with a total area of 1 330 000 km2 to compare and analyze, and these blocks involved seven countries, including the United States, Peru, Ireland, South Africa, Kenya, Australia, and China. Based on the free-air gravity anomaly data of the latest global gravity database V23, the authors obtained the calculated Bouguer gravity anomaly using the gravity correction methods within the pure spherical coordinate system in these eight blocks. Then, the correlation coefficients between the measured Bouguer gravity anomaly and the calculated Bouguer gravity anomaly were calculated by the correlation analysis method in these eight blocks. Finally, through comprehensive analysis of the features of these correlation coefficients and differences between the measured Bouguer gravity anomaly and the calculated Bouguer gravity anomaly in these eight blocks, the quality of the gravity data of these eight blocks was evaluated in the latest global gravity database V23. The results showed that the latest global gravity database V23, released by Scripps Institution of Oceanography, integrated a large number of the ground or airborne gravity data measuring in an earlier era, and the newly surveyed ground or airborne gravity data may not be integrated into the database. The quality of land gravity data is relatively high in the areas with a large number of older ground or airborne gravity data, otherwise it is low in the zones with a lower gravity working degrees.  相似文献

Recoverable mineralisation at a given mining selectivity is traditionally modelled from sparse data grids by non-linear geostatistical techniques such as Uniform Conditioning. This method estimates the tonnage and grade of mineralisation which can be extracted as small selective minable blocks from large blocks (panels), whose grade is modelled by Ordinary Kriging. Uniform Conditioning technique estimates the proportions of recoverable mineralisation in each panel without specifying the actual locations of the economically extractable blocks. This inability to predict a spatial location of the recoverable mineralisation is a major disadvantage of the conventional Uniform Conditioning method. A new approach, called Localised Uniform Conditioning, has been developed to overcome this limitation. This method applies the grade–tonnage relationships modelled by the Uniform Conditioning technique to the spatial grade distribution patterns approximated by direct kriging of the small blocks from the sparse data grid. This approach estimates localised selective mining units grades conforming to the proper grade–tonnage curves obtained by the Uniform Conditioning method as well as maintaining the relative spatial grade distribution pattern indicated by the directly kriged small block grades. The advantage of this approach is essentially dependent upon the data available for ranking the small blocks within a panel in increasing order of their grade. Ordinary Kriging of the small blocks can be used for their ranking providing the kriged estimates produce a meaningful indication of the relative grade pattern. Where the data is sparse and not close to a panel, or their distribution is characterised by a strong short-range variability, the advantages of using the Localised Uniform Conditioning approach are more limited.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Blocks of metamorphic rock designated as ‘high-grade’ blocks, commonly less than 100 m in diameter, consisting of garnet-glaucophane- and hornblende-schists and gneisses and rare eclogite, are widely distributed within mélanges of the Franciscan (accretionary) Complex of California. Eclogite-glaucophane schist blocks present at Jenner, California, have been studied for petrographic, geochemical, structural, and age characteristics, but their relationship to associated Franciscan rocks is poorly understood. The studied blocks are not in situ, but rather occur in landslide deposits and beach sands. The landslide deposits overlie the low to middle slope exposures of sandstone-rich broken formations of the Franciscan Complex that are not known to contain high-grade blocks. Geochemical studies suggest a serpentinite host for the blocks. Upslope, a serpentinite-matrix mélange contains numerous high-grade blocks, including rare retrograded eclogite, and is the likely block source. The Jenner terrain as a whole was uplifted relative to rocks to the north and south near Annapolis and Freestone, respectively, by uplift along the post-Pliocene Russian River (anticlinal) Arch, as indicated by the regional distribution of arching, wave-cut, post-Franciscan surfaces with overlying Miocene/Pliocene marine sedimentary rocks. Local uplift increased landsliding and colluvial downslope movement of the blocks. In addition, local, wave-influenced transportation of smaller blocks, together with the downslope mass movements, brought the high-grade blocks to their present positions. The high-grade blocks are thus displaced from upslope exposures of the original serpentinite-matrix mélange host, in which the blocks likely experienced the metasomatism that converted eclogite to glaucophane schist. In general, the relationship of blocks to the original serpentinite host is a critical element of subduction zone architecture related to subduction zone processes and history, and should be analysed, in any studies that seek to explain the architecture and history of any accretionary complex with similar high-grade blocks.  相似文献

A salient characteristic of the geography of crime in the US is the presence of extremely sharp geographic variations. These variations may be significant indicators of local environmental inequalities and may have implications for fear of crime and crime contagion, and may also be indicators of potential or actual neighborhood instability. Such micro-level variations are not generally apparent on small scale maps of urban crime. Previously, micro-level analysis of this gradient phenomenon has been inhibited by the confluence of large volumes of data over large areas, a plethora of possible boundaries that might be used for the purpose of data aggregation, and practical difficulties in the identification of gradients in the context of small units of analysis. The present study attempts to identify steep crime gradients and to characterize the physical and social circumstances under which they occur. Analysis was based on 97,880 geocodable incidents reported in 2000 in Baltimore County, Maryland. Crime densities were calculated for 5324 census blocks that experienced at least one crime incident. A steep gradient for the purpose of this research was the juxtaposition of blocks in the highest and lowest quintiles in terms of crime density. Using residential and commercial land uses as a filter, some 259 blocks satisfied the gradient criterion. Further analysis linked these blocks to their parent block groups for the purpose of identifying their social attributes. In addition, six clusters of blocks were investigated in the field. The Cryogenian is a critical period in the history of the Earth. It is marked by multiple extreme climate changes that caused alternating global glacial and interglacial intervals. These dramatically changed the sedimentary system, and metal ores and source rocks distributed widely during this period. Therefore, studying the Cryogenian stratigraphic framework and sedimentary basins is important to improve the stratigraphic resolution for metal mineral and hydrocarbon prospecting and exploration in China. This review paper firstly divides three tectonic-stratigraphic regions in China in the Cryogenian, including the tectonic-stratigraphic regions of Great South China, Xingmeng-Tarim, and North China. Secondly, geochronologic data and geological records are combined to clearly depict the Cryogenian sedimentary sequence of continental blocks and micro-continental blocks in different tectonic-stratigraphic regions. The results were used to propose a new comparison scheme of stratigraphy for the Cryogenian in China. Finally, according to differences of sedimentary evolution and tectonic evolvement, sedimentary basins and their lithofacies paleogeography are identified and summarized, respectively.  相似文献

迄今为止,位于扬子地块的西北缘,夹持于扬子、华北、塔里木和羌塘—昌都地块之间呈倒三角形构造区块的巴颜喀拉褶皱带尚未有构造古地磁研究成果报导。为配合该区油气勘查与油气资源评价,并对构造区块定位提供定量数据,开展了松潘—阿坝地块的古地磁研究。采样区集中在西秦岭构造区南亚带(摩天岭和若尔盖)、中亚带(洮河)和巴颜喀拉构造区的马尔康复向斜带(巴颜喀拉褶皱区)4个微地块。采样地层单元主要为三叠系。共采集57个采点,376块岩心标本。通过对岩石样品测试数据的分析和计算,获得洮河、巴颜喀拉、摩天岭和若尔盖(后两者夹于前两者之间)4个微地块古地磁极极点位置:经度为191.4°E~202.9°E,纬度为49.5°N~58.5°N。洮河和巴颜喀拉两微地块在晚三叠世的古纬度同为26.2°N,表明晚三叠世这4个被断裂相隔的微地块已构成一个统一的较大的地块。洮河和巴颜喀拉地块在三叠纪时的古纬度变化分别从早三叠世的13.4°N和11.3°N向北移动到晚三叠世的26.2°N,同时在北向移动过程中从早三叠世至晚三叠世分别发生了约40°和16°的逆时针旋转。  相似文献

通过对比分析华南地块和基墨里大陆(包括保山、缅泰和羌塘地块)间、华北和西伯利亚地块间的古纬度和纬度运移量,分别确定了古特提斯洋和古亚洲洋的闭合时代。结果表明:(1)基墨里大陆东部的保山地块与华南地块于晚二叠世碰撞,然后继续和华南地块、缅泰地块、羌塘地块一起向北漂移,直到晚三叠世,即在云南三江地区,古特提斯洋的闭合时代为晚二叠世晚期; (2)早二叠世西伯利亚地块开始快速向南漂移,并于二叠纪末期(~250 Ma)和华北地块发生碰撞,即位于两地块间古亚洲洋最终闭合时代为二叠纪末;(3)峨眉山和西伯利亚两个大火成岩省的形成时代和大洋的闭合时代吻合,而大火成岩省在时间上又与全球生物灭绝事件吻合,进而推断二叠纪末的生物灭绝事件可能与古亚洲洋和古特提斯洋的闭合密切相关。  相似文献

The Song Ma region, which is located in the northwestern Vietnam represents the zone of amalgamation between Indochina and South China blocks. Numerous scattered ultramafic rocks occur in this region in association with Early to Middle Palaeozoic greenschists and paragneisses, and all these rocks were subjected to hydrous metamorphism and deformation. Here, we present new field data, mineral chemistry and geochemistry from a suite of hydrated peridotites within the Song Ma region and discuss the tectonic significances of the region. We also combine the available data within the Song Ma region and Indochina–South China blocks to discuss the tectonic evolution of the subduction zone. Based on the results, we suggest that the peridotites from the Song Ma are mantle residues that suffered a high degree of partial melting in a forearc tectonic setting. The present data together with the available data within the Song Ma region and the Indochina and South China blocks clearly represent a southward directed Middle Palaeozoic subduction system. The Middle Palaeozoic subduction and accretion events mark the evolutionary history along an active convergent margin between the Indochina and South China blocks, possibly related to the amalgamation of the Pangaea supercontinent. New evidence shows that the picrite blocks in the margins of the Skaergaard intrusion, East Greenland are gabbro-contaminated xenoliths of ultramafic rock. Earlier studies suggested that the picrite blocks were cumulates formed in the Marginal Border Group or in the Hidden Zone. However, there are no known occurrences of undisturbed picrite or ultramafic rocks in the Skaergaard intrusion, and an extensive Hidden Zone is not supported by geophysical data. The picrite blocks are most abundant near a body of wehrlite in Precambrian rocks near Watkins Fjord. The wehrlite, which has a composition and mineralogy similar to the most mafic of the picrite blocks, lies structurally below the northern margin of the intrusion. It is possible that the refractory precursors of picrite in the Skaergaard intrusion may have been ultramafic xenoliths and are not representative of the earliest differentiated pan of the intrusion.  相似文献

A large network of paving blocks has been initiated in some districts of the region of Dakar (Senegal) within the framework of the Urban Program of High Intensity Manpower (PUHIMO). The purpose of this study is to explore the process of production of paving blocks to be used for roads and sidewalks. The study also seeks to investigate the materials used for the formulation of hydraulic concrete for the manufacturing of paving blocks that are H-shaped. The blocks made are 20?×?10?×?6?cm3 of size. The originality of this paper is the complete substitution of crushed basaltic sand by the fines of alumina phosphate that are stored for a long time over large areas. These fines particles of phosphate are generated by the physical processing (crushing, transportation and screening) of the raw alumina phosphate material. This paper deals with how to make good paving blocks out of crushed basaltic sand on the one hand and on the other hand with how to substitute basaltic sand for fines of alumina phosphate as waste for their recycling. The finished products are tested, for their resistance to splitting rupture, for their abrasion and for their water content, to see their compliance with the European standard EN 1338, which defines, according to the results obtained, their use or not in road pavement and in sidewalks. The standard values must be below 23?mm for abrasion, 3.6?MPa for the tensile rupture strength and 6?% for the percentage of total water content. Average abrasion values of 20.71 and 22.67?mm, 5 and 3.46?MPa of splitting rupture strength, 5.26 and 7.73?% of average water content are obtained in paving blocks made respectively out of crushed basaltic sand and out of fines of alumina phosphate. These results obtained testify good physical and mechanical characteristics of the paving locks made out of fines of alumina phosphate compared to the standard, if tolerance values are taken into account.  相似文献

Multi-element near-surface geochemistry from the National Geochemical Survey of Australia has been evaluated in the context of mapping the exposed to deeply buried major crustal blocks of the Australian continent. The major crustal blocks, interpreted from geophysical and geological data, reflect distinct tectonic domains comprised of early Archean to recent Cenozoic igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rock assemblages. The geochemical data have been treated as compositional data to uniquely describe and characterize the geochemistry of the regolith overlying the major crustal blocks across Australia according to the following workflow: imputation of missing/censored data, log-ratio transformation, multivariate statistical analysis, multivariate geospatial (minimum/maximum autocorrelation factor) analysis, and classification. Using cross validation techniques, the uniqueness of each major crustal block has been quantified. The ability to predict the membership of a surface regolith sample to one or more of the major crustal blocks is demonstrated. The predicted crustal block assignments define spatially coherent regions that coincide with the known crustal blocks. In some areas, inaccurate predictions are due to uncertainty in the initial crustal boundary definition or from surficial processes that mask the crustal block geochemical signature. In conclusion, the geochemical composition of the Australian surface regolith generally can be used to map the underlying crustal architecture, despite secondary modifications due to physical transport and chemical weathering effects. This methodology is however less effective where extensive and thick sedimentary basins such as the Eromanga and Eucla basins overlie crustal blocks.  相似文献

Classifying and assessing geotechnical aspects of rock masses involves combining parameters in various ways, guided by empirical considerations, to derive quantitative geotechnical parameters. Geological structures and the deformation history of rocks underpin the nature of rock masses. The kinematics of a deforming rock mass may occur as sliding along throughgoing discontinuities or as distributed sliding on block faces. Distributed sliding will tend to disrupt the continuity of planar structures such that data on the size and shape of blocks is needed, rather than relying on discontinuity orientation data alone. Orientation and spacing data can be combined to provide a geometric analysis of block systems from linear samples, such as drill core. Dihedral angles and spacing of sequential pairs of discontinuities provides a sample of the size and shape of blocks that can be interpreted stereologically. Further detail can be derived by combining neighbouring intersections that enclose or partially enclose individual blocks. The shape and size of a block can be represented on a stereograph with the enclosing faces shown as poles and their perpendicular distance from an arbitrary point inside the block shown as a number. Identifying the size and shape of specific blocks rather than relying on statistical methods is beneficial to critical aspects of design such as analysing keyblocks that would be exposed during excavations. The detailed characterization of block size and shape is also a step toward interpreting the kinematics of rock mass deformation and the analysis of rock masses as ultra-close packed dilatant granular systems.  相似文献

随机块体的几何特征和稳定性是水利水电工程中地下厂房支护设计的重要依据。对乌东德水电站右岸地下厂房随机块体的特征进行了深入研究。对研究区域内实测的裂隙参数进行了分组统计,确定了各组裂隙产状、迹长等参数的分布形式和大小。利用逆建模方法建立了三维裂隙网络模型,获取了各组裂隙的直径和三维密度。采用一般块体方法对地下厂房进行随机块体的识别和稳定性分析,利用GeneralBlock软件进行了10次随机实现,对10次计算结果进行了统计分析和讨论。研究结果表明,结构面与开挖面形成的随机块体集中在地下厂房的顶拱部位,10次随机实现中,地下厂房全长范围内平均每次形成的随机块体为414个;随机块体的平均体积为2.9 m3,最大块体的体积达152.0 m3;可移动块体中,大部分为稳定块体,不稳定块体均以坠落形式破坏;构成可移动块体的结构面多为3~4条,最多可达12条,其中倾W向的中等倾角裂隙是构成块体并可能造成块体失稳的最危险结构面;随机块体的平均深度为1.2 m,最大深度为8.8 m。建议支护锚杆应尽量穿透倾W向中等倾角的长大裂隙,且锚杆支护长度大于8.8 m。  相似文献

The Archaean Karnataka craton of southern India contains Eastern and Western crustal blocks (separated by a major thurst) in which Sargur Schists occur as lenses within tonalitic Peninsular Gneisses. The Schist complex comprises pelites, quartzitic psammites, carbonates and calc-silicates, iron formations, and basic rocks, and thus provides many mineral assemblages ideal for the calculation of PT conditions. With their gneisses the Sargur rocks are unconformably overlain by the Dharwar greenstone belts, and are generally thought to be older than 3,000 my.In the Western block maximum metamorphic conditions are given by meta-basic rocks as 790±50° C and 13±2 kb, but adjacent meta-sediments give a pressure of 9 kb, suggesting that the differences in P and T recorded in this block mark a polychronic metamorphic geotherm related to the exhumation of the terrain by uplift and erosion. In the eastern block maximum temperatures were in the range 750°-850° C and maximum pressures were 7 kb. The rocks of the two blocks were sampled 100 km apart, and thus there was probably a regional pressure difference between the two blocks caused by differentiated crustal thickening prior to or during metamorphism.The shape of the geotherm from the Western block shows near-isothermal decompression over 20 km. Our data suggest that during Sargur metamorphism maximum crustal thicknesses were in excess of 45 km and that there was a minimum difference of 20 km in crustal thickness between the Eastern and Western blocks.  相似文献
