以大量烃源岩样品地球化学分析为基础,综合应用钻井以及地震等地质资料,从有机质丰度、类型、成熟度、母质来源、沉积环境以及生物标志物等方面对乌石凹陷流沙港组烃源岩地球化学特征进行了研究。研究结果表明,流三段发育于还原湖泊环境,有机质丰度较高,类型主要为Ⅱ1-Ⅱ2型;流二段沉积于弱还原至还原环境,有机质丰度最高,尤其是流二段油页岩基本为优质烃源岩,有机质类型以Ⅱ1-Ⅱ2型为主;流一段沉积于偏氧化性湖泊环境,有机质丰度最低,类型以Ⅱ2-Ⅲ型为主。依据烃源岩综合演化剖面,将其热演化过程划分为未成熟、低成熟、成熟和高成熟4个阶段,确定了烃源岩生烃门限深度为2900m,生烃高峰位于3600m。低伽马蜡烷指数显示流沙港组沉积时期水体为淡水环境,丰富的4-甲基甾烷表明水生低等植物对烃源岩母质来源有较大贡献。  相似文献

Lake George, located in the St. Marys River, has been heavily impacted by human-induced environmental changes over the past century. The effects of human impacts starting in the late nineteenth century and of natural, gradual diagenesis can be distinguished in the bulk organic matter and molecular contents of the sedimentary record. Organic carbon concentrations increase from 0.5% in sediments deposited 200 years ago to ∼4% in recent sediments. A fourfold increase in organic carbon mass accumulation rates accompanies the change in concentrations. Elevated C/N ratios in near-modern sediments indicate that increased delivery of land-derived organic matter has been responsible for much of the recent increases in sedimentary organic carbon. Organic δ13C and δ15N values change significantly and coincidentally with the environmental changes, reflecting depressed algal productivity since the introduction of industrial effluents to the aquatic system, increased delivery of land-derived organic matter and some impacts of acid rain. Increases in microbial and petroleum hydrocarbon contributions occur in sediments deposited since 1900. Fatty acid distributions provide evidence of substantial microbial reworking of organic matter throughout the sedimentary record.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) is evaluated as a method to study the thermal degradation of sedimentary organic matter which consists mainly of kerogen. Whole rock and separated kerogen samples were pyrolysed stepwise (ambient to 700°C at 50°C increments), extracted and analysed for elemental composition and ESR spectra at each step. Whole rock samples give rise to complex spectra which include those of paramagnetic metals and are therefore unsuitable in most cases for this purpose.The ESR parameters g value, ΔH and Ng differ for different types of immature organic matter. An increase in Ng,shift of g value to 2.0026–2.0028 and reduction in h are the main trends during pyrolysis and in natural heating of sedimentary organic matter.The peak generations of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons coincide with maxima of free radical density. ESR spectroscopy in combination with complementary geochemical characterization of the sedimentary organic matter can serve to indicate maturity with respect to peak oil-gas generation.  相似文献

The concentration and biomarker compositions of sedimentary organic matter (OM) as well as fine and coarse suspended particles were analysed to identify the impact of deforestation on the transport of terrigenous organic matter (OM) in the Rio Tapajós, a major tributary to the Amazon. Substantial shifts in the concentration and composition of recently deposited sedimentary OM suggest that intensive deforestation over the last few decades has considerably modified the natural inputs of sedimentary materials to the aquatic ecosystems by disrupting the terrigenous fluxes of humus and soil materials from the drainage basin. The observed compositional changes of bulk OM and land derived biomarkers (e.g. lignin) in recent sediments illustrate a sedimentary enrichment in OM from soil horizons that, under normal forest cover, tend to be retained in the drainage basin. On average, the recently accumulated OM is nitrogen-rich ((C/N)a=12–15) and more highly degraded ((Ac/Al)v=0.4–0.6 and DHBA/V=0.15–0.20) than deep materials ((C/N)a=20–30, (Ac/Al)v=0.25–0.4, and DHBA/V=0.05–0.10), showing that this recently accumulated material is more humified than original inputs to the aquatic system, and consistent with increased exportation of fine eroded mineral and organic particles from surface soils along river banks. The present study illustrates the relevance of using OM oxidation products in sediment profiles to evaluate deforestation impacts on aquatic ecosystems and to characterize the nature of eroded soil materials, complementing studies on mineral/metal cycling.  相似文献

Soluble organic matter had been separated from several palygorskite and bentonite samples in the Ji-angsu-Anhui border area(across Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province) and Linze County in Gansu Province of China and was analyzed with the techniques and methods of organic geochemistry.The composition and distribution of hydrocarbons were analyzed by gas chromatography(GC).Organic stable carbon isotopic ratios(δ13C) in typical samples were determined.The abundance of soluble organic matter in all clay samples analyzed was low.In Ji-angsu-Anhui samples,the preservation states of organic matter are different;hydrocarbons in organic matter have some features of aquatic plankton but are short of the input of terrigenous higher plants;organic δ13C in a palygor-skite of Yongxiaoshan in Xuyi County,Jiangsu Province,is-6.72‰.These features may be typical of a sedimentary environment of closed or semi-closed and relatively isolated different waters near coast or seashore.On the contrary,in samples from Gansu,the preservation states of organic matter are good;the GC graphs of hydrocarbons show that the precursors of the organic matter are from a mixed source of aquatic organisms and land-sourced higher plants;organic δ13C of a palygorskite from Yangtai of Gansu is-15.62‰.It indicated that the sedimentary environment may be an inland salty lake.Preliminary results suggest that palygorskite minerals in the Jiangsu-Anhui area may be evolved from rapidly accumulated fine material or volcanic ash,but clays in Gansu Province may be transformed from terrigenous inorganic clastic components carried to the lake through river and then deposited.The generation process of the samples studied in the paper seems to be related to salty water.  相似文献

Levels of organic maturity of Mesozoic and Tertiary sequences outcropping in the Central Apennines have been established, using vitrinite reflectance techniques, the Thermal Alteration Index and fluorescence colours of organic matter dispersed in sediments. These results provide new constraints throughout the Meso-Cenozoic evolution of this crustal sector. In exploration geology, vitrinite reflectance provides data on hydrocarbon maturation by constraining organic matter maturity. In sedimentary basin modelling, it is adopted to define the palaeothermal regime. Vitrinite reflectance (Ro) also provides information on the burial history of sedimentary basins and may be employed to estimate tectonic uplift and erosion rates. Thermal Alteration Index (TAI) and fluorescence colour values can be correlated with Ro and may be used to estimate the degree of maturation when vitrinite is absent. Samples derived from the Sabini and Tiburtini Mts, in slope facies between the Latium–Abruzzi carbonate Platform and the Umbria–Marche pelagic Basin; from the Simbruini and Ernici Mts, in carbonate Platform facies, and from upper Miocene turbiditic deposits outcropping between the Olevano–Antrodoco Une, towards the West, and the Marsica slope facies, towards the East. Both the pre-terrigenous Meso-Cenozoic sequences show a low grade of organic maturity: the Sabini and Tiburtini Mts show Ro values that are less than 0.4%, and the Simbruini–Ernici Range show Ro values that range between 0.5% and 0.65%. Field analysis indicates that the cause of these low maturity levels is that thick sequences of turbidites were never deposited during the Neogene evolution of the Apennine thrust belt. Moreover, Upper Miocene turbiditic deposits also show low maturity levels, with Ro values that are less than 0.5%, indicating that these deposits were never overthrusted by huge volumes of rocks, during the chain building. The slight increase in the maturity level recorded in the Marsica area may be related to local heating along shear zones in areas of strike-slip tectonics.  相似文献

In the modern hypersaline carbonate lagoon and sabkha sedimentary environments of Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), three types of organic matter originate respectively from microbial mat, Avicennia mangrove, and Halodule lagoonal seagrass. The study of recent sedimentary processes and cross sections through the sabkha sediments lead to the definition of organo-sedimentary facies based on geochemical and sedimentological criteria. This permits the construction of an organo-sedimentary sequence which expresses the Holocene sedimentary record involving a transgressive and a regressive sequence. The various organic facies occur in both sequences.Heterogeneity within the individual organic facies reflects several factors, including sedimentation dynamics, mineral matrix, oxidation and reduction, and selective organic and mineral diagenesis. These parameters are discussed in terms of depositional environment and location within the organo-sedimentary sequence. Changes in distribution, quantity, and preservation potential of the buried organic matter are discussed in terms of sea level changes and sedimentary accretion rates.  相似文献

二叠系烃源岩是中国西部吐鲁番坳陷重要的潜在生烃层系。以地表剖面暗色泥岩的分析资料为主,结合部分井下烃源岩样品分析数据,详细探讨了泥岩的微量元素地球化学特征,利用不同岩类烃源岩有机碳含量、有机质类型及饱和烃气相色谱等特征对烃源岩的沉积环境进行了分析。研究认为,吐鲁番坳陷二叠系烃源岩层系沉积时水体的环境为弱还原相—还原相沉积环境。烃源岩有机质中陆源生物占优势,低等水生生物也有大量的分布。油气为还原环境沉积有机质的转化产物,坳陷具有良好的成烃潜力。还原程度强、具一定深度水体的的沉积相带是原始有机质沉积的良好场所,沉积有机质能及时沉积、保存下来,因此,烃源岩大多有机质丰度高;反之,则明显变差。  相似文献

The concentrations of CH4, SO42−, σCO2 and the carbon isotope compositions of ΣCO2 and CH4 in the pore-water of the GS sedimentary core collected from Guishan Island (Pearl River Estuary), South China Sea, were determined. The methane concentration in the pore-water shows dramatic changes and sulfate concentration gradients are linear at the base of the sulfate reduction zone for the station. The carbon isotope of methane becomes heavier at the sulfate-methane transition (SMT) likely because of the Raleigh distillation effect; 12CH4 was oxidized faster than 13CH4, and this caused the enrichment of residual methane δ 13C and δ 13C-ΣCO2 minimum. The geochemical profiles of the pore-water support the existence of anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM), which is mainly controlled by the quality and quantity of the sedimentary organic matter. As inferred from the index of δ 13C-TOC value and TOC/TN ratio, the organic matter is a mix of mainly refractory terrestrial component plus some labile alga marine-derived in the study area. A large amount of labile organic matter (mainly labile alga marine-derived) is consumed via the process of sedimentary organic matter diagenesis, and this reduces the amount of labile organic matter incorporated into the base of the sulfate reduction zone. Due to the scarcity of labile organic matter, the sulfate will in turn be consumed by its reaction with methane and therefore AOM takes place. Based on a diffussion model, the portion of pore-water sulfate reduction via AOM is 58.6%, and the percentage of ΣCO2 in the pore-water derived from AOM is 41.4%. Thus, AOM plays an important role in the carbon and sulfur cycling in the marine sediments of Pearl River Estuary.  相似文献

Deep-seated gas is defined in this paper as natural gas generated under the combined action of high temperature, high pressure, and environment media. As to organic matter vertical evolution, deep-seated gas is natural gas, which is generated and deposited under the position of an oil generation window. Deep-seated gas exploration is an important potential field for oil-gas exploration. Also, it is an inexorable trend to the further development of oil and gas provinces. In this paper, the authors will examine and distinguish the concept of deep-seated gas, and discuss the distribution and gas source of deep-seated gas. It is pointed out that kerogen, assemble dissoluble organic matter and disperse dissoluble organic matter all have contributed to deep-seated gas generation, especially disperse dissoluble organic matter in composite and superimposed sedimentary basin. In the end, according to the structural evolution and hydrocarbon source rock depositional distribution, the distribution of deep-seated gas in China is predicted. The current geochemical study of n-alkanes, steranes, and triterpanes in bitumen from the Late Maastrichtian–Paleocene El Haria organic-rich facies in West of Gafsa, southern Tunisia, was performed in order to characterize with accuracy their geochemical pattern. The type of organic matter as deduced from n-alkanes, steranes, and triterpanes distributions is type II/III mixed oil/gas prone organic matter. Isoprenoids and biomarkers maturity parameters (i.e., T s/T m, 22S/(22S?+?22R) of the C31 αβ-hopanes ratios, 20S/(20R?+?20S) and ββ/(ββ?+?αα) of C29 steranes), revel that the organic-rich facies were deposited during enhanced anoxic conditions in southern Tunisa. The organic matter is placed prior to the peak stage of the conventional oil window (end of diagenesis–beginning of catagenesis). All these result are suggested by total organic carbon analysis, bitumen extraction and liquid chromatography data. Thus, the n-alkanes, triterpane, and steranes study remains valuable and practical for geochemical characterization of sedimentary organic matter.  相似文献

Based on the tested data of pressure and vitrinite reflectance of some wells in sedimentary basins, abnormal high pressure is regarded as not the only factor to retard the increase of vitrinite reflectance (R o). Apart from the types of the organic matter, the physical environment (temperature and pressure) and chemical environment (fluid composition and inorganic elements) will result in the abnormal vitrinite reflectance values in the sedimentary basins. This paper tested trace elements and vitrinite reflectance data from the the abnormal high pressure and normal pressure strata profiles, respectively, and found that the acidic and lower salinity starta are favorable for the increase of R o. By discussing the corresponding relationship between the contents of some trace elements in the mudstone and the vitrinite reflectance values, the typical trace elements were found to suppress and/or catalyze the vitrinite reflectance of organic matter, while the elements of Ca, Mn, Sr, B, Ba and P may result in the retardation of R o. However, elements of Fe, Co, Zn, Ni and Rb may catalyze the organic matter maturation. This study is conductive to the organic maturation correction, oil and gas assessment and thermal history reconstruction by the paleothermometry. Abstract

The sedimentary facies of the Huagang Formation, the major petroleum exploration horizon in the Xihu Depression in the East China Sea Basin, have not been well constrained, owing to limited drilling and core recovery. Interpretations are vague and vary from beach bar, braided river and braided-river delta front sediments. In this paper, the paleosedimentary environments of the Huagang Formation are discussed based on detailed organic and inorganic geochemical analysis and proxies used to interpret the sedimentary facies. Kerogen, dominated by sapropelinite, is mainly of Type I and Type II, and n-Paraffins are dominated by short-chain and medium-chain, with no obvious odd-over-even advantages. The distribution of isoprenoid alkanes and steroids indicates that the organic matter in mudstones is mainly of lacustrine and mixed origins. Elemental ratios of Th/U (4–6), V/Cr (1–4), Ni/Co (3–11) and V/(V?+?Ni) (0.5–0.75) indicate that in the area studied, the Huagang Formation was deposited under anoxic to reduced conditions with some oxygen-enriched horizons. Both inorganic and organic geochemical signatures show that the Huagang Formation was mainly deposited in an aquatic environment but with some minor periods of subaerial exposure. The sequence of the Huagang Formation is characterised by interbedded grey-white thick sandstones and grey-black thin mudstones. Normally graded cycles are widely developed, with rare mudstone in the upper part and scoured surfaces at the base. The cumulative grainsize distribution curve is mainly a two-stage type. The sedimentary facies indicative markers are dominated by braided-river channel deposits and combined with the paleosedimentary environments it is inferred that the sedimentary system in the study area was typical of a braided-river delta front. The cores available were intensively analysed using a hand-held X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to probe the variations in the paleoclimate and show that the braided-river channels were controlled by paleoclimate. During arid climatic settings, the sediments within individual channels were thin, and grainsizes varied significantly; at the base of each channel, basal conglomerates were common. In contrast, under humid climatic settings, thin multi-stage channels were superimposed, and the bottom often developed erosion surface.

Minerals might act as important sorbents of sedimentary organic matter and reduce biodegradation, which favors the formation of hydrocarbon source rocks in the earth's history. Since most organic matter is degraded during the sinking process, at ambient temperature, it is important to investigate the adsorption capacity of different minerals during this process, to assess the organic loss from primary productivity to sedimentary organic matter. In this study, montmorillonite and calcite have been selected to study the impact of different minerals on the release, adsorption, and deposition of cyanobacterial (Synechococcus elonpata) fatty acids (FAs) at ambient temperature. Gas chromatography (GC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) have been utilized to detect the variation in fatty acids. Primary results suggest that minerals have a different impact on dissolved organic matter. Montmorillonite can specifically enhance the release of fatty acids from cyanobacterial cells by lowering the pH values of the solution. The adsorption of the dissolved organic matter by montmorillonite will also be enhanced under a lower pH value. Conjunction of fatty acids with montmorillonite to form a complex will favor the sinking and preservation of these organics. Selective adsorption is observed among fatty acids with different carbon numbers. In contrast, calcite does not show any impact on the release and adsorption of organic matter even though it is reportedly capable of acting as a catalyst during the transformation of organic matter at high temperature. The primary data bridge a link between primary productivity and sedimentary organic matter, suggesting the relative importance of claystones in the formation of hydrocarbon source rocks in the earth's history.  相似文献

Investigation of sediment samples from Sites 1039 and 1040 (ODP Leg 170) drilled off the Nicoya peninsula (Costa Rica) by organic geochemical and organic petrological methods has revealed that subduction has only little influence on the composition of the sedimentary organic matter. Organic carbon contents reached 1.5% in the Pleistocene samples but Miocene and Pliocene sediments had an average organic carbon content of less than 0.5%. Organic carbon/sulfur ratios are generally below 2.8, reflecting an intense sulfate reduction in the uppermost sediments which was enhanced by sulfate supply both from sea water and deeper strata. Microscopical examinations indicate that the organic matter is mainly derived from marine sources. A small amount of terrigenous organic matter is, however, present as well according to n-alkane and fatty acid distributions. The alkenone unsaturation index U37k′ shows only a slight decrease during the Miocene and Pliocene, and stronger variations in the Pleistocene, probably indicating more stable sea surface temperatures during the Miocene and Pliocene. Variations in the Pleistocene can possibly be related to glacial/interglacial changes.  相似文献

The sedimentary records of Nulhegan Pond and Beecher Pond in the Nulhegan Basin of north‐eastern Vermont were analyzed to yield a history of environmental change since the latest Pleistocene. Shoreline landforms indicate that part of the Nulhegan Basin was inundated by Glacial Lake Nulhegan (GLN), which was impounded behind a dam of glacial sediment. Outwash derived from stagnant ice forms the bottom 176 cm of the Nulhegan Pond core. Fine‐grained inorganic sediment deposited between 13.4 and 12.2k cal a BP is interpreted as a deep‐water facies representing GLN, while coarser sediment from 12.2 to 11.8k cal a BP records draining of the glacial lake. Rapid, simultaneous increases in organic matter and biogenic silica signal the onset of productivity following the Younger Dryas. Beecher Pond formed c. 11.3k cal a BP through surface collapse over a buried ice block; buried stagnant ice may have persisted in the vicinity of the pond into the early Holocene. From 8.9 to 5.5k cal a BP, sediment in both lakes became coarser and richer in aquatic organic matter, suggesting a low‐water phase in which previously deposited lacustrine sediments were reworked and the littoral zone shifted basinward. Low water levels at this time are consistent with other records from Maine and southern Quebec, but contrary to records from ~325 km to the south. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Based on gas chromatography and gas chromatography mass spectrometry techniques, the authors examined biomarker characteristics of the Ganquan Formation source rocks in the area of Dahulishan, Ejina, and analyzed the information and petroleum geological significance that were indicated by the source of organic matter, sedimentary environment and maturity and so on. Gas chromatography peak of saturated hydrocarbons from the Ganquan Formation source rocks showed "the former peak" of the single peak distribution, the main peak of carbon being C18 , indicating the main sources of organic matter with marine organic matter. Pr/Ph ranges from 0.3 to 0.6, indicating a strongly reducing sedimentary environment. Biomarker assemblages of the Ganquan Formation source rocks are abundant in tricyclic terpane with long side chains, with a high level of gammacerane, showing dominant distribution of C27 sterane. High contents of gammacerane in organic matter show organic facies of source rocks in the saltwater sedimentary environment. That average hopane/sterane ratio is 0.59, showing that algae have made more contributions to organic matter than bacteria. And the high level of C27 steranes shows that algae are the main source of hydrocarbon precursors. The Ganquan Formation’s methylphenanthrene index, which is an effective molecular parameter index to measure thermal evolution of organic matter, ranges from 0.35 to 0.50, and the conversion of vitrinite reflectance Rc from it is within the range of 2.00-2.09, indicating that the Ganquan Formation source rocks are in the over-mature stage of thermal evolution.  相似文献

Benzene extractable aliphatic hydrocarbons from the New Albany Shale in the Illinois Basin were characterized by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, and the total organic matter of the shale was characterized by solid state carbon-13 cross polarization magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance. Core samples from a northwest-trending cross-section of the Illinois Basin were studied. Gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometric analysis (GC/MS) data indicate a regional variation of the aliphatic composition of the shale extracts. A positive, linear relationship between the two ratios, pristane/n-C17 and phytane/n-C18, is indicated. The NMR results indicated that organic matter deposited in northwestern Illinois shale is relatively high in aliphatic hydrocarbon content while, in contrast, organic matter found in southeastern Illinois shale is relatively low in aliphatic hydrocarbon content. Our findings suggest that the organic variation of the shale is mainly due to the differences in thermal maturity of the shale organic matter and the use of pristane/n-C17 ratio as a thermal parameter in the study of oil may be extended to the study of the ancient sediments.  相似文献

松辽盆地上白垩统青山口组一段富有机质泥页岩岩发育,层系内部滞留烃富集,具有可观的页岩油资源潜力。沉积古环境控制了泥页岩的分布、有机质发育特征及滞留烃富集程度。因此,恢复青一段泥页岩沉积古环境,明确沉积特征,对揭示青一段泥页岩中页岩油富集规律具有重要意义。本文基于长岭凹陷乾安地区青一段取心井——吉页油1井的岩心观察及测井曲线组合特征,划分了青一段泥页岩沉积微相,应用自然伽马能谱测井、岩性扫描测井数据,选取环境评价参数,对青一段沉积古环境及其演化过程进行了恢复,分析了古环境参数与泥页岩中滞留烃含量的相关性。结果表明:松辽盆地长岭凹陷乾安地区青一段泥页岩是在三角洲外前缘-浅湖-半深湖-深湖沉积体系中形成的,主要发育半深湖-深湖泥、浅湖泥沉积微相。青一段泥页岩沉积古环境经历了水深由浅变深,气候由半潮湿到潮湿,水体由淡水-微咸水,还原性由弱到强,水动力条件由中等到弱的演化,在青一段地层中存在明显的沉积环境变化界面,上下层段沉积环境不同。青一段泥页岩中滞留烃含量主要受沉积古气候、古氧化还原条件控制,潮湿气候还原条件下形成的泥页岩有机质类型好,以腐泥质为主,生油能力强,滞留烃含量高。  相似文献

Three sediment cores were taken from the Pearl River estuary and adjacent northern South China Sea (SCS). These sediment cores span the time interval 1900–2000 AD. The stratigraphy of the concentration, the ratio of total organic carbon (TOC) to total nitrogen (TN) and stable isotope (δ13Corg) of organic carbon (OC) from three high-resolution sediment cores were analyzed. The stratigraphic profiles of OC concentration, TOC/TN ratios and δ13Corg for the near past 100 yrs indicate that terrestrial organic matter decreases from 68.3% to 27.4% of the TOC in the Pearl River estuary, while Dapeng Bay (offshore east of Hong Kong) apparently had throughout little terrestrial organic matter input. The highest deposited OC occurs at the Humen River mouth and the OC concentrations are higher in the outer estuary than in the inner shelf of the northern SCS. The deposited OC at the River mouth increased with time, which could be caused by the high precipitation of land-derived organic matter and the high input of terrestrial organic matter, which is likely related to the rapid urbanization and industrial development in the Pearl River Delta since the 1970s. The OC concentrations did not exhibit an obvious increase with time in most areas of the Pear River estuary and adjacent inner shelf of the SCS, but the algal-derived OC concentration inferred from the δ13Corg values increased with time especially from 1980 to 2000 in the outer Pearl River estuary and Dapeng Bay. This increase is presumably caused by enhanced primary marine productivity supported by higher anthropogenic nutrient inputs.  相似文献
