The restricted three-body problem is generalized with the inclusion of solar radiation pressure. For small particles (typically 1 m to 1 mm) the familiar equilibrium triangular points L4 and L5 no longer exist. However libration orbits are not completely destroyed, although an effect of resonance causes their amplitude to be very large, for a particle initially at rest at either of the triangular point. Finally the results of a study of the linearized equations of motion, supplemented by a numerical integration, rule out the possibility of an accumulation of dust at the Earth-Moon lagrangian triangular points.  相似文献

The orbits of real asteroids around the Lagrangian points L4 and L 5of Jupiter with large inclinations (i > 20°) were integrated for 50 Myrs. We investigated the stability with the aid of the Lyapunov characteristic exponents (LCE) but tested also two other methods: on one hand we integrated four neighbouring orbits for each asteroid and computed the maximum distance in every group, on the other hand we checked the variation of the Delaunay element H of the asteroid. In a second simulation – for a grid of initial eccentricity versus initial inclination – we examined the stability of the orbits around both Lagrangian points for 20° < i < 55° and 0.0 < e < 0.20. For the initial semimajor axes we have chosen the one ofJupiter(a = 5.202 AU). We determined the stability with the aid of the LCEs and also the maximum eccentricity of the orbits during the whole integration time. The region around L4 turned out to be unstable for large inclinations and eccentricities (i > 55° and e > 0.12). The stable region shrinks for orbits around L5: we found that they become unstable already for i > 45° and e > 0.10. We interpret it as a first hint why we observe more Trojans around the leading Lagrangian point. The results confirm the stability behaviour of the real Trojans which we computed in the first part of the paper.  相似文献

The Park Forest (L5) meteorite fell in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois (USA) on March 26, 2003. It is one of the currently 25 meteorites for which photographic documentation of the fireball enabled the reconstruction of the meteoroid orbit. The combination of orbits with pre‐atmospheric sizes, cosmic‐ray exposure (CRE), and radiogenic gas retention ages (“cosmic histories”) is significant because they can be used to constrain the meteoroid's “birth region,” and test models of meteoroid delivery. Using He, Ne, Ar, 10Be, and 26Al, as well as a dynamical model, we show that the Park Forest meteoroid had a pre‐atmospheric size close to 180 g cm?2, 0–40% porosity, and a pre‐atmospheric mass range of ~2–6 tons. It has a CRE age of 14 ± 2 Ma, and (U, Th)‐He and K‐Ar ages of 430 ± 90 and 490 ± 70 Ma, respectively. Of the meteorites with photographic orbits, Park Forest is the second (after Novato) that was shocked during the L chondrite parent body (LCPB) break‐up event approximately 470 Ma ago. The suggested association of this event with the formation of the Gefion family of asteroids has recently been challenged and we suggest the Ino family as a potential alternative source for the shocked L chondrites. The location of the LCPB break‐up event close to the 5:2 resonance also allows us to put some constraints on the possible orbital migration paths of the Park Forest meteoroid.  相似文献

Lynds 1199 is an extended dark cloud of moderate opacity in the upper Cepheus region. The B3V type star HD206135 illuminating the reflection nebula DG 175 is associated with this cloud. In this paper the nature of the cloud and its associated young stellar objects is studied on the basis of13CO data obtained with the 4 m millimeter wave telescope of Nagoya University, photographic observations taken with the 60/90 cm Schmidt telescope of Konkoly Observatory, as well as IRAS data.  相似文献

We present the results of a proper motion survey of the Hyades to search for brown dwarfs, based on UKIRT Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS) and Two-Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) data. This survey covers  ∼275 deg2  to a depth of   K ∼ 15  mag, equivalent to a mass of  ∼0.05 M  assuming a cluster age of 625 Myr. The discovery of 12 L dwarf Hyades members is reported. These members are also brown dwarfs, with masses between  0.05 < M < 0.075 M  . A high proportion of these L dwarfs appear to be photometric binaries.  相似文献

A method is given, based on the pseudoinverse of the equations of condition, to obtain error estimates for the solution in the normL 1 of an over-determined linear system. The computational labor to obtain the errors, while not trivial, is less than that for various competing methods, particularly if there are many more equations of condition than unknowns. The error estimates for anL 1 solution are substantially larger than those for a least squares solution of the some data. It is suggested that a complete discussion of a linear system include at least bothL 1 and least squares solutions with their respective errors and the condition number of the linear system.  相似文献

Establishing connections between meteorites and their parent asteroids is an important goal of planetary science. Several links have been proposed in the past, including a spectroscopic match between basaltic meteorites and (4) Vesta, that are helping scientists understand the formation and evolution of the Solar System bodies. Here we show that the shocked L chondrite meteorites, which represent about two thirds of all L chondrite falls, may be fragments of a disrupted asteroid with orbital semimajor axis a=2.8 AU. This breakup left behind thousands of identified 1–15 km asteroid fragments known as the Gefion family. Fossil L chondrite meteorites and iridium enrichment found in an ≈467 Ma old marine limestone quarry in southern Sweden, and perhaps also ∼5 large terrestrial craters with corresponding radiometric ages, may be tracing the immediate aftermath of the family-forming collision when numerous Gefion fragments evolved into the Earth-crossing orbits by the 5:2 resonance with Jupiter. This work has major implications for our understanding of the source regions of ordinary chondrite meteorites because it implies that they can sample more distant asteroid material than was previously thought possible.  相似文献

We have mapped linearly polarized dust emission from the pre-stellar cores L1498 and L1517B with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) using the Submillimetre Common User Bolometer Array (SCUBA) and its polarimeter (SCUBAPOL) at a wavelength of 850 μm. We use these measurements to determine the plane-of-sky magnetic field orientation in the cores. In L1498, we see a magnetic field across the peak of the core that lies at an offset of ∼19°± 12° to the short axis of the core. This is similar to the offsets seen in previous observations of pre-stellar cores. To the south-east of the peak, in the filamentary tail of the core, we see that the magnetic field has rotated to lie almost parallel to the long axis of the filament. We hypothesize that the field in the core may have decoupled from the field in the filament that connects the core to the rest of the cloud. We use the Chandrasekhar–Fermi (CF) method to measure the plane-of-sky field strength in the core of L1498 to be ∼10 ± 7 μG.
In L1517B, we see a more gradual turn in the field direction from the northern part of the core to the south. This appears to follow a twist in the filament in which the core is buried, with the field staying at a roughly constant ∼25°± 6° offset to the short axis of the filament, consistent with previous observations of pre-stellar cores. Hence these two clouds in an apparently similar evolutionary state, that exhibit similar masses, morphologies and densities, have very different magnetic field configurations. We again use the CF method and calculate the magnetic field strength in L1517B to be ∼30 ± 10 μG. Both cores appear to be roughly virialized. Comparison with our previous work on somewhat denser cores shows that, for the denser cores, thermal and non-thermal (including magnetic) support are approximately equal, while for the lower density cores studied here, thermal support dominates.  相似文献

L1551NE is a very young (class 0 or I) low-mass protostar located close to the well-studied L1551 IRS 5. Here we present evidence, from 1.3 mm continuum interferometric observations at approximately 1&arcsec; resolution, for a binary companion to L1551NE. The companion, whose 1.3 mm flux density is approximately 13 that of the primary component, is located 1&farcs;43 ( approximately 230 AU at 160 pc) to the southeast. The millimeter-wave emission from the primary component may have been just barely resolved, with a deconvolved size of approximately 0&farcm;82x0&farcm;70 ( approximately 131x112 AU). The companion emission was unresolved (<100 AU). The pair is embedded within a flattened circumbinary envelope of size approximately 5&farcm;4x2&farcm;3 ( approximately 860x370 AU). The masses of the three components (i.e., from the circumstellar material of the primary star and its companion and the envelope) are approximately 0.044, 0.014, and 0.023 M middle dot in circle, respectively.  相似文献

We study the effect of eccentricity and inclination on small amplitude librations around the equilibrium points L 4 and L 5 in the circular restricted three-body problem. We show that the effective libration centres can be displaced appreciably from the equilateral configuration. The secular extrema of the eccentricity as a function of the argument of pericentre are shifted by ∼25 ° This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Abstract— The Julesburg chondrite, a single stone weighing 57.9 kg, was found in 1983 in Sedgewick County, Colorado, USA. It contains abundant chondrules and chondrule fragments but little fine-grained matrix. The olivine composition ranges from Fa1 to Fa25 but a frequency plot of olivine compositions is strongly peaked at Fa23. The low-Ca pyroxenes range from Fs3 to Fs28 and show no dominant composition. The abundance of clearly defined chondrules, the heterogeneity of the silicates and the presence of glass within chondrules indicate a type 3 chondrite, refined by thermoluminescence data to 3.6. The total iron content of 20.46% is indicative of an L-group stone. The low noble gas retention ages indicate that this meteorite was outgassed late in its history. This is supported by petrographic evidence of brecciation and shock. Aluminum-rich spinels within chondrules and inclusions contain up to 2.6% ZnO which suggests that they formed in a volatile-rich environment.  相似文献

Abstract— The Salem, Oregon meteorite fall of 1:05 a.m. (07:05 GMT) May 13, 1981 (lat. 44°58′45″N., long. 123°58′10″W) was heard by two observers. A 22.2 g fragment was recovered immediately from a total recovery of 61.4 g from a single individual. No other fall related phenomena were observed. It is a heavily fusion-crusted, shock-veined, L6 chondrite.  相似文献

We present the new model for interstellar scintillations, which assumes that the electron density fluctuations causing the scintillations obey Lévy statistics rather than Gaussian statistics, as was thought previously. Our model explains the observed anomalous scaling of the signal time-width with respect to the pulsar distance, which remained a puzzle for more than 30 years.  相似文献
