Ergasilidae are a globally distributed group of copepods parasitising fish. Despite their common occurrence in European freshwaters, there is relatively little molecular data available. In this study, we recorded three ergasilid copepod species parasitising six fish species (families Cyprinidae, Percidae, Centrarchidae) in lentic water bodies along the River Morava in the Czech Republic: Ergasilus sieboldi infecting fish gills, Paraergasilus longidigitus infecting nasal cavities and Neoergasilus japonicus infecting fins. This represents a further occurrence of N. japonicus as a non-native European species, and the first report of P. longidigitusis from Central Europe waters. While strong niche selection potentially offers a free niche for each of these ergasilids in all hosts, parasite co-infections were relatively rare, with species distribution among hosts reflecting host preference. This study provides the first molecular data for E. sieboldi and P. longidigitus as native European ergasilid copepods. Phylogenetic analysis based on combined 18S and 28S rDNA showed a close relationship between P. longidigitus with other Paraergasilus species, supporting a monophyletic origin of this genus. The phylogenetic position of E. sieboldi was not clearly resolved, highlighting the need for more data and further intensive genetic investigations of other ergasilid species.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to present quantitative data on the population dynamics of Chlorella-bearing ciliates (Stentor, Ophrydium) compared to the total zooplankton community in a deep, oligotrophic North Patagonian lake. Mixotrophic and heterotrophic ciliates, rotifers and microcrustaceans, and important ecological parameters were sampled during a 1-year study. The results showed a low biodiversity with only a few dominant species in every zooplankton group. Three mixotrophic ciliates - Stentor araucanus, S. amethystinus and Ophrydium naumanni - were found. They peaked in summer and autumn with maximum values of 152-313 Ind L−1 (Stentor) and 1880 Ind L−1 (Ophrydium). Their contribution to the total ciliate abundance was 16±17% (annual average). Both Stentor species displayed a distinct vertical zonation during the stratification period with peak depth between 10 and 15 m (metalimnion). The contribution to total zooplankton biomass was 59.4% on an annual average (Stentor: 41%, O. naumanni: 18.4%) and 83% during the stratification period. Both abundance and biomass of mixotrophic ciliates correlated strongly with temperature and to a lesser degree with copepods, rotifers and small cladocerans. According to this study mixotrophic ciliates were by far the dominant zooplankton group in Lake Caburgua. We report for the first time the importance of O. naumanni in a deep Chilean North Patagonian lake.  相似文献

Eight species of charophytes have been found in the vast area of the ubiquitous permafrost in Far North-East Asia (i.e. the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Magadan Region, and the Chukotka Autonomous Area, Russia): Chara contraria, C. globularis, C. strigosa, C. virgata, Nitella flexilis, N. opaca, N. wahlbergiana and Tolypella canadensis.Charophytes are found in a variety of water bodies and watercourses in areas with various thicknesses of permafrost, within the boreal and subarctic climate zones. Charophyte habitats are mostly associated with the distribution of carbonate rocks. The number of species and their records decrease towards north and east mainly due to shortening of the vegetation period. The highest density of records of charophytes and their most northern records are in river valleys, where the topography and heating effect of the river mitigate the influence of climate and permafrost. This association can be used to model and predict charophyte distribution in periglacial areas during glaciation.Widespread eurytopic species with a flexible life cycle, Chara contraria and C. globularis, are found in valley water bodies due to their ability to withstand environmental variation associated with marked changes in water temperature and flood disturbance. Rare perennial species such as C. strigosa and Tolypella canadensis are represented in deep lakes with less variation in environmental conditions. This paper discusses the distribution, habitat and life history strategies of charophytes that exist in the severe conditions of the permafrost area in Far North-East Asia based on previously published and new data.  相似文献

Unequivocal Eocene suckers from China are for the first time reported here. This discovery demonstrates that catostomids of the Eocene Epoch (some 55-35 Ma ago) are scattered widely on mainland Asia as well as western North America. The present day disjunct distribution pattern of catostomids, with 68 extant species widespread in North America and the northern part of Middle America and only two in the restricted areas of Asia, is the result of their post-Eocene decline in Asia due to the competitive pressure from cyprinids, their Late Cenozoic radiation in North America, and the vicariant and dispersal events triggered by the changed biogeographic landscape. All of these prove to be a historical product of the geological, biological, and climatic changes throughout the Cenozoic.  相似文献

Biological invasions represent a relevant ecological and economic problem of our globalized world. While a few species have been classified as invasive due to their ecological and economic impacts on the invaded ecosystems (e.g., zebra mussel), others show contrasting invasive potential, depending on the invaded ecosystem and/or the traits of the exotic species. This paper reviews the worldwide distribution, ecological impacts and the reasons that explain the invasive success of the aquatic mud snail Potamopyrgus antipodarum Gray (Hydrobiidae, Mollusca), which is native to New Zealand. This review shows that most studies on P. antipodarum distribution have been conducted in Europe, North America and Australia, and few studies in Asia. The distribution of this snail is still unknown in other parts of the world (e.g., Africa, South and Central America). The range of invaded aquatic ecosystems varies from fresh to salt water and from lentic to lotic ecosystems. The ecological impact of this species is due to the fast population growth rate and to the extremely high densities that it can reach, leading to altered C and N cycles in invaded ecosystems. However, at low densities mud snails have been shown to enhance secondary production. Additionally, P. antipodarum has been found to overcome the negative effects of predators and parasites (e.g., it survives the pass through the digestive tracts of fish). This review contributes to assess the magnitude and ecological risk of P. antipodarum invasion throughout the world.  相似文献

The genus Paliurus is characterized by its distinctive orbicular-winged fruits and a trilocular (or bilocular) ovary. Macrofossil records suggested this genus was distributed widely in North America, Europe, and Asia during the Paleogene and Neogene, before its present limitation to Eurasia. In this study, we describe some Paliurus fossil winged fruits from the lower part of Youganwo Formation (middle Eocene) and Huangniuling Formation (late Eocene) of the Maoming Basin, South China. These fruits are recognized as Paliurus favonii Unger based on a detailed study on the fossil morphology and cuticle characteristics. This represents the earliest occurrence of Paliurus fossil fruits in eastern Asia, and to date is the world’s lowest latitude appearance for this genus. The most ancient records of Paliurus throughout the world are from the middle Eocene of North America and the late Eocene of Japan, leading some researchers to conclude the Paliurus may have originated in North America. Molecular data, however, do not support this hypothesis. The present Paliurus fossil fruits provide new evidence for the origin and phytogeographic history of this genus.  相似文献

In the course of re-oligotrophication in Lower Lake Constance, Germany, the tall-growing angiosperm Myriophyllum spicatum has been almost replaced by dense and lower-growing charophytes. We hypothesise that Chara globularis negatively affects the performance of M. spicatum due to density competition and nutrient interference. Intra- and interspecific competition was assessed using a response surface experimental design with different densities of both species in mono and mixed stands in an outdoor mesocosm experiment. After 8 weeks, we measured the growth and various functional traits of both species, including stoichiometry, ash-free dry mass and dry-matter content, and for M. spicatum, additionally chlorophyll content, leaf-mass fraction, formation of autofragments, and root/shoot ratio. With increasing density, C. globularis reduced the growth of M. spicatum much more strongly than that of conspecifics. Increasing density of C. globularis led to a lower chlorophyll a to b ratio and lower nitrogen content based on ash-free dry mass in M. spicatum as well as reduced autofragmentation. Established C. globularis meadows can negatively affect tall-growing angiosperms such as M. spicatum when the environmental conditions, such as low phosphorus availability and high water-clarity, are appropriate. These findings have implications for the management of lakes, specifically those where a nuisance growth of tall macrophytes occurs, e.g. in systems where M. spicatum is invasive.  相似文献

The signal crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus (Dana, 1852) is a native species to North America. It was introduced to Europe and Japan where it rapidly spread as an invasive species. In Croatia, it is recorded in the rivers Mura and Drava, where it spread downstream from Slovenia, and in the Korana River, where it has been recently illegally introduced. In the invaded areas, signal crayfish outcompetes native crayfish species. Since the knowledge on the genetic diversity of this invasive species is limited, microsatellite markers and sequences of mitochondrial gene for 16S rRNA were analysed to explore the genetic relations between the two Croatian populations (Mura and Korana rivers) as well as their relation to other already studied European populations. Moreover, 16S rRNA sequence fragments of Croatian samples were compared with those from the native range in the west North America. Morphometric characteristics were also studied to determine if there are significant differences between studied populations and if these are concordant with the genetic analyses results. Also, morphometric data were used to assign Croatian signal crayfish into subspecies classification according to Miller’s discriminant function formula, and to compare claw surface area among Croatian, Japanese and North American populations. Based on the results of morphometric characteristics Croatian samples showed Pacifastacus leniusculus leniusculus-like morphology. Phylogenetic reconstruction based on 16S rRNA, positioned Croatian samples into P. leniusculus sensu Larson et al. (2012). Results on microsatellite markers showed that the genetic diversity of P. leniusculus in the Mura River population is slightly higher compared to the Korana River population, but these two populations do not form separated genetic clusters. This study contributes to the knowledge on genetic variability and morphometric characteristics of signal crayfish in Europe and further understanding of its success as an invasive species.  相似文献

As part of the multinational Lake Owens Dust Experiment (LODE), we have studied the generation of dust storms on the south sand sheet of Owens (dry) Lake, California, an anthropogenically desiccated playa reported to be the single greatest source of particulate matter in North America. During March 1993, we performed an intensive field study including eight significant dust storms, building on our prior work (1978–1984) and preliminary studies (1991–1992). We studied sources and magnitude of coarse saltating particles, the meteorological conditions that allow them to become mobile across the flat playa of Owens (dry) Lake, and how the motion of saltating particles across different types of playa surfaces results in the generation of PM10 dusts (aerosol particles smaller than 10 μm aerodynamic diameter). Saltating grains of lacustrine sand and broken crust abrade and disaggregate the playa surface into fine aerosols, and the resulting PM10 concentrations recorded during major dust storms are among the highest ever recorded in North America. On 23 March 1993, we measured a 2 h concentration on the playa of 40 620 μg m−3, as far as we can determine the highest ambient PM10 value ever recorded in the U.S.A. Abrasion of salt-silt-clay crusts by saltation is shown to be responsible for all but a small part of one dust storm. The quantity ‘sand run’, saltating particle transport multiplied by wind run, is shown to be very closely correlated with dust aerosol concentration. Finally, we have established that on-lake bed studies are essential for quantitative prediction of dust events on the Owens (dry) Lake bed, despite the difficult conditions encountered.  相似文献

Paleomagnetic samples were collected from 190 m of the Late Carboniferous/Early Permian Casper Formation in southeastern Wyoming. A total of 549 samples was drilled near the vicinity of Horse Creek Station at an average stratigraphic interval of 33 cm. All samples were reversely magnetized. Rock magnetic analyses indicate that the primary carrier of remanence in the formation is hematite. A selection criterion applied to the partial demagnetized data restricted the sample population to 233, resulting in a paleomagnetic North Pole located at 47.4°N, 127.4°E (δp=0.7;δm=1.4). The Casper pole agrees well with other Late Carboniferous/Early Permian poles for cratonic North America. The tight clustering of these paleomagnetic poles suggests that little apparent polar motion with respect to North America occurred during this time. Comparing the stable North American poles with paleomagnetic poles from Late Carboniferous/Early Permian strata of the New England-Canadian Maritime region (Acadia) indicates that this region did not reach its present position relative to North America until at least the Early Permian.  相似文献

Permo-Triassic and Precambrian dolerites have been collected for palaeomagnetic research in Suriname (South America) at 24 sites (280 oriented cores). After A.F. or thermal demagnetization, consistent directions were obtained for the following groups: Permo-Triassic (227 × 106 y), 10 sites, 90 samples, D = 358°, I = −7°, pole 82° S, 40° W; Precambrian (around 1.550−1.650 × × 109 y), 2 sites, 17 samples, D = 277°, I = +35°, pole position 8° S, 53° E; Precambrian (about 1.750 × 109 y), 2 sites, 30 samples, D = 314°, I = +3°, pole 44° S, 30° E. Precambrian pole positions for South America, Africa, North America and Europe are discussed.  相似文献

We report a fossil specimen referable to Sinomastodontinae gen. et sp. indet. from the Neogene strata at Yanghecun locality, Xihe County, Gansu Province, China. The specimen is characterized by a brevirostrine mandible, complete pretrite trefoils, and relatively simple posttrite half lophids, showing typical features of Sinomastodon. It differs from the other known species of Sinomastodon by the following features: relatively short and wide m3 due to fewer lophid numbers, less inflated pretrite accessory central conules, poorly developed secondary trefoils and cementum, and relatively strong cingulid. All of these features indicate a bias towards pleisiomorphies of Sinomastodon, implying that this specimen is more ancestral than any known species of Sinomastodon. The symphysis of the new specimen is relatively long, which differs from the typical brevirostrine Sinomastodon, and thus we consider it a gen. et sp. indet. in the Subfamily Sinomastodontinae. In addition, the horizon in which the present specimen was found probably represents the Upper Miocene because it is lower than Pliocene strata yielding Hipparion (Proboscidipparon) pater. Generally, Sinomastodon is considered to have migrated from North America at about the time of the Miocene/Pliocene boundary, and to have been derived from a certain clade of American gomphotheres. However, the discovery of the Yanghecun specimen verifies that Sinomastodon lived in East Asia during the Late Miocene, and probably derived from Old World gomphotheres (e.g., G. wimani). The similarity between the members of the Subfamilies Sinomastodontinae and those of Cuvieroniinae is suggested to have been the result of parallel evolution.  相似文献

Early Carboniferous (Viséan to possibly earliest Namurian) sedimentary rocks of the Deer Lake Group of western Newfoundland rest unconformably on Grenvillian basement rocks of the Canadian Shield which form the western border of the Early Palaeozoic Appalachian orogen. In addition to magnetically soft magnetizations directed along the present field, three families of magnetization directions are found. Two of them (referred to as N (north) and S (south)) are antiparallel and prefolding, and were probably acquired during the depositional process. N and S are roughly of equal frequency. They have a mean direction irrespective of sign of 0.7°, ?35.2°, k = 40, α95 = 8.9°, and a palaeopole 21.5°N, 121.8°E (10.3°, 6.0°) corresponding to a palaeolatitude of 20 ± 6°S. This agrees with the palaeolatitude (17 ± 5°S) determined from the somewhat older Early Carboniferous (Tournaisian) Terenceville Formation of the Avalon Platform on the eastern side of the Appalachian orogen in Newfoundland. The third magnetization, referred to as H (roughly horizontal), has a mean direction 156.8°, ?13.3°, k = 37, α95 = 10.1°, and a palaeopole 45.4°N, 140.3°E (10.3°, 5.3°) corresponding to a palaeolatitude of 7 ± 4°N; we interpret this to be an early Kiaman (latest Carboniferous to early Permian) overprint probably acquired chemically. The palaeolatitude determined from the H overprint agrees with that determined from Early Carboniferous rocks of cratonic North America west of the Appalachians. Therefore, we argue, Early Carboniferous palaeofield determinations for cratonic North America have been strongly biased by unremoved Kiaman overprints. Because of this, and because of the good agreement between Early Carboniferous palaeolatitudes obtained from opposite margins of the Appalachian orogen, we suggest that there is, at present, no palaeomagnetic evidence for the previously proposed 1500 km displacement from the south of an eastern portion of the Appalachians (“Acadia”) relative to cratonic North America during the Carboniferous.  相似文献

Larvae of the lotic caddisfly genus Hydropsyche may occur in densities of thousands to several tens of thousands of individuals/m2 across continents and running water types. Therefore, stream ecologists frequently face the task of identifying larvae of this genus. Early keys to larval Hydropsyche of Asia, Europe and North America often used the relatively complicated frontoclypeal colour pattern for species discrimination, whereas equivocal views about the variation of this pattern limited its use in recent keys. Has each species of a given species group a different (although intraspecifically variable) basic pattern of lighter spots on the darker frontoclypeus, or have all species of a group the same basic colour pattern that varies more or less intraspecifically? An answer to this question has obvious implications for the identification of the species as well as for the phylogeny of the genus, so we examined the variation of this colour pattern across ∼11,000 specimens of 10 Hydropsyche species from the Loire River (France). All 10 species had the same basic colour pattern on the frontoclypeus (six contrasting light patches on a dark background) that varied intraspecifically across a certain range of colour contrasts. Comparing other sources illustrating the frontoclypeus of Hydropsyche larvae provided more support for the idea that six contrasting light patches on the frontoclypeus is the typical basic colour pattern that varies within almost all European species; males of these species have a simple phallus form. Two European and many North American species of the genus (from the Ceratopsyche group) have a different basic colour pattern of seven light patches on the frontoclypeus that varies also intraspecifically; males of these species have a complicated phallus form.If the variation of such colour patterns in co-existing populations of several species is known, the relative contrast differences among the individual patches on the frontoclypeus and the form of the individual patches can provide valuable information for rapid species identification. Analysis of this variation may also contribute to phylogenetic studies of the genus Hydropsyche and other hydropsychids.  相似文献

The characteristic magnetization of redbed samples from the upper part of the Série d'Abadla (probably Early Permian 31°N, 2.7°W) has a mean direction derived from 13 sites of D=129°, I=11°, k=59, α95=6° and a corresponding south paleopole at 29°S, 60°E, A95=5°. All directions have reversed polarity. The paleolatitude of the northern fringe of the Saharan craton was 6°±3°S, which is in excellent agreement with that for the Moroccan Meseta. Therefore, in all probability, there has been no paleolatitudinal displacement greater than about 500 km of the Moroccan Meseta relative to Africa since Permian time. Comparison of results from sedimentary rocks shows no evidence for relative rotation of the Moroccan Meseta since Permian time. Small apparent rotations are indicated by evidence from massive trachyandesite lavas from Morocco, but we argue that these could have arisen from the incomplete averaging of secular variation and uncertainties in estimates of paleohorizontal, rather than from true tectonic rotations. The combined latest Carboniferous/Early Permian paleopole for the Saharan craton and the Meseta differs form the path of apparent polar wandering for North America when the continents are assembled in Wegener's Pangea (Pangea A, in which northwest Africa is opposite North America). It is in reasonable agreement when the continents are assembled in the Pangea B configuration (northwest Africa opposite Europe).  相似文献

South America is the center of diversity of the genus Isoetes and several new species have been described in the last decade, especially in Brazil. Isoetes cangae J.B.S. Pereira, Salino & Stützel was first recognized in 2016 as an endemic species of a single lake in Serra dos Carajás, Brazil, in the southeastern Amazon region. The climate of Amazon is warm with a seasonal precipitation regime, which affects aquatic ecosystem properties and regulates plant phenology. Understanding how climatic and hydrological drivers affect I. cangae is fundamental for its conservation because the species is quite vulnerable due to its restricted distribution. In this study, we evaluated the effects of seasonal climatic variations and water level on the phenology of I. cangae over two years. The maximum leaf length, the number of sporophylls (fertile leaves), and the total number of leaves were assessed. Sporophylls were classified into mature and immature, megasporophylls and microsporophylls. The number of leaves, leaf length, and the number of sporophylls changed drastically among the hydrological seasons, but not the ratio between sporophylls and leaves, suggesting that reproductive effort is distributed accordingly over the years. All these factors also varied between years, indicating that inter-annual climatic variations affect the morphology and reproduction of I. cangae. Sporophylls are produced throughout the year, but their maturation and release increase in the rainy and early dry seasons, respectively. Megasporophylls predominate over microsporophylls throughout the year, and the peak of sporophyll maturation occurs during the rainy season, but lasts longer (till early dry season) for megasporophylls. The reproductive traits were associated with lake water level, suggesting that development is stimulated during the driest and hottest periods. Therefore, our results show that environmental factors play an important role in I. cangae phenology and must be considered in the management and conservation efforts to preserve this ancient Amazonian plant.  相似文献

The round goby Neogobius melanostomus is one of the most successful Ponto-Caspian fish invaders, established in a variety of aquatic ecosystems throughout Europe and North America. Diet and feeding strategies of N. melanostomus from three recently invaded tributaries of the Lower Danube River (Bulgaria) were investigated. Research design is based on monthly examination of the round goby diet and macroinvertebrate density. The results show that the round goby consume a wide range of different organisms – 76 taxa in total (identified to family, genus or species level). The most common prey taxa in all three rivers were Chironomidae (Orthocladius/Cricotopus spp., Tanytarsini g. sp.), Trichoptera larvae (Psychomyiidae g. sp., Hydropsyche spp.) and Ephemeroptera nymphs (Baetis spp.). Only in one of the rivers, a predominant feeding on crustaceans (Gammarus spp.) was observed. The taxonomical composition of consumed invertebrates suggests that the round goby prefers the ecological group of “sprawling/walking” insect larvae associated to coarse substratum. Feeding activity was observed throughout the whole year, even during low-temperature months. Three seasonal and four size-depended shifts in the species’ diet were determined. Generalization feeding tactics predominated in all three rivers. Specialization was rare and specific for each tributary, where a few individuals consumed invertebrates from fine substratum and/or submerged vegetation. Possible relationships between the spread of N. melanostomus and the recent invasion of the Asian clam (Corbicula fluminea) in the Bulgarian Danube tributaries were discussed. Generalisation and feeding plasticity contribute to the round goby’s establishment success in the Danube tributaries and might facilitate its further upstream spread.  相似文献

We have obtained additional evidence for the Early Carboniferous paleomagnetic field for cratonic North America from study of the Barnett Formation of central Texas. A characteristic magnetization of this unit was isolated after thermal demagnetization at four sites (36 samples) out of eight sites (65 samples) collected. The mean direction of declination = 156.3°, inclination = 5.8° (N = 4 ,k = 905 , α95 = 3.0°), corresponds to a paleomagnetic pole position at lat. = 49.1°N,long. = 119.3°E (dp = 1.5° , dm = 3.0°). Field evidence suggests that characteristic magnetization was acquired very early in the history of the rock unit whereas the rejected sites are comprised of weakly magnetized limestones dominated by secondary components near the present-day field direction. Comparison of the Barnett pole with other Early Carboniferous (Mississippian) paleopoles from North America shows that it lies close to the apparent polar wander path for stable North America and that the divergence of paleopoles from the Northern Appalachians noted previously for the Devonian persisted into the Early Carboniferous. We interpret this difference in paleopoles as further evidence for the Northern Appalachian displaced terrain which we refer to here as Acadia, and the apparent coherence of Late Carboniferous paleopoles as indicating a large (~1500 km) motion of Acadia with respect to stable North America over a rather short time interval in the Carboniferous.  相似文献

Paleomagnetic studies have been made of certain constituents of the Bay St. George sub-basin. Specifically, results are reported from the Spout Falls Formation (Tournaisian), the Jeffreys Village Member of the Robinsons River Formation (Visean), and the Searston Formation (Namurian-Westphalian). The following magnetizations have been isolated: Spout Falls A (Tournaisian) with D = 343.5°, I = ?22.7°, k = 61.2, α95 = 7.1° and the corresponding pole at 28.6°N, 139.5°E (4.5°, 8.5°); Spout Falls B (Kiaman) with D = 166.7°, I = 12.2°, k = 51.7, α95 = 10.7° and the corresponding pole at 34.5°S, 42.7°W (5.5°, 10.9°); Jeffreys Village A (Visean) with D = 351.2°, I = ?27.3°, k = 54.0, α95 = 7.6° and the corresponding pole at 26.5°N, 130.7°E (4.5°, 8.3°); Searston A (Namurian) with D = 161.7°, I = 11.7°, k = 107, α95 = 7.4° and the corresponding pole at 33.9°S, 37.2°W (3.8°, 7.5°); and Searston C with D = 111.6°, I = ?13.8°, k = 28.8, α95 = 14.5° and the corresponding pole at 19.6°S, 19.0°E (7.6°, 14.8°). After comparison with paleopoles of similar ages derived from eastern and western Newfoundland rocks, from constituents of the east coast basin and for interior North America, it is concluded that: (1) it is unlikely that any large scale relative motion took place since the Early Carboniferous between eastern and western Newfoundland; (2) it is unlikely that any north-south relative motion took place between the east coast basin and the Bay St. George sub-basin; and (3) the Bay St. George sub-basin results do not support the earlier proposed displaced terrane hypothesis of the northern Appalachians in as much as the motions during the Carboniferous are not supported. There is evidence of the northward motion of the Appalachians and North America as a whole during the Carboniferous. The magnetostratigraphic horizon marker in the Carboniferous separating a dominant normal and reversed magnetization on the older side and an entirely reversed (Kiaman) magnetization on the younger side may be placed in the Bay St. George sub-basin at the base of the Searston Formation.  相似文献

Fishing activities strongly contribute to biological invasions in freshwaters. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential risks of live bait capture using dip nets and of crayfish trapping as vectors for invasive freshwater macrofauna dispersal. In the Tagus river basin (Portugal), where both activities are common, we evaluated the probability of capture and the electivity of the local aquatic macrofauna according to the method used. During the compulsory removal of the invasive species captured we also quantified fish desiccation survival capacities. We found, for both vectors, that the species exhibiting the highest probability of capture and the highest electivity were invasive, respectively, Gambusia holbrooki and Crangonyx pseudogracilis with the dip net, Procambarus clarkii and several invasive species with special relevance for Ameiurus melas with the crayfish trapping. Moreover, the desiccation survival capacities, of all invasive fishes analyzed, are compatible with long distance dispersal out of water, with special relevance to G. holbrooki. This study demonstrates that fishing activities contribute to long-distance dispersal of invasive fauna. Therefore, according to our findings, it is important to update the fishing regulation and simultaneously to raise fishermen awareness of this problem.  相似文献
