Co-ordinated observations of the Sun and inner heliosphere using a large number of space- and ground-based instruments were carried out in August–September 1996, August 1998 and August–September 1999 as the first, second and third Whole Sun Months. These observations provided unprecedented cover of the Sun and inner heliosphere at solar minimum (1996) and during the rising phase of the new solar cycle (1998, 1999). In this paper we review the observations made during the three Whole Sun Months and consider the changes in the large-scale structure of the heliosphere seen over the four years.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to an analysis of brightness temperatures of the polar and low-latitude coronal holes on the Sun in the cm-wave range during periods of minimum solar activity. Data from observations of the polar coronal hole received by the RATAN-600 radio telescope during the solar eclipse of March 29, 2006, and low-latitude observations of coronal holes and quiet Sun received earlier with the RATAN-600 and BPR radio telescopes in the period of minimum solar activity have been used in the paper. The obtained good agreement between the brightness temperatures of cm-wave emission of the polar coronal hole above the North Pole of the Sun and of the low-latitude coronal holes against the background of the quiet Sun reveals the identity of the temperature properties of large coronal holes, irrespective of the mode of their arrangement and location on the Sun during the periods of minimum solar activity.  相似文献

The spectrum of velocity and magnetic fields in the solar wind is self-similar (power-law type) in the frequency range greater than >1/day indicating well-mixed turbulence. But it loses self-similarity for lower frequencies indicating the presence of large-scale patterns, which are intermittently generated inside the Sun and propagate from the Sun to the Earth.Here we discuss the spatia–temporal characteristics and origin of the 1.3-year quasi-periodic pattern found inside the Sun by helioseismic methods and detected in the solar wind. To identify and characterize this pattern on the Sun we use time series of solar magnetic Carrington maps generated at the Wilcox Solar Observatory and independent component data analysis. This analysis shows the latitudinal distribution of the pattern, its variable frequency and intermittent appearance.  相似文献

本文创建了行星会合指数(K)运动学方程,通过定义的行星会合指数可以指代行星会合与相背离的程度,进而发现太阳(S)绕太阳系质心(C)运动的轨迹、形态变化特征.对该运动学方程构建的图像分析发现,太阳绕太阳系质心转动有近半程时间,太阳系质心是处于太阳本体之内.以质量为权重求出了行星系质心运日运动的恒星周期,从而获得了太阳绕太阳系质心运转的真正周期为21.8192年(约22年),并得到了太阳绕太阳系质心运动的轨迹.  相似文献

It was discovered that the dates of the earthquakes of the summer 2012, being ordered in accordance with the corresponding Carrington rotations (CR) of the Sun nos. 2123–2127, form four discrete isolated groups, with a 30-day periodicity of the earthquakes in each group. On the Sun, the moments of the earthquakes correspond to four groups of the discrete Carrington longitudes (CL) of the four-sector structure of the large-scale open solar magnetic field (LOSMF). Close to each time of occurrence of the earthquake, the strong coronal mass ejections (CME) of Halo and Particle Halo types were identified. It was unexpectedly discovered that the occurrence times of the earthquakes and the onsets of CMEs are approximately synchronous, either keeping slightly ahead or lagging somewhat behind each other. This means that the earthquakes and CMEs are governed by a common external factor. The hypothesis that this could have been caused by the influence of Jupiter is supported by the discovered phenomenon of the eclipse of Jupiter by the Sun in May–June 2012, when the Sun occurred between Jupiter and the Earth and a significant decline in the magnitudes of the quakes was detected on the Earth.  相似文献

George Cole reviews the properties and significance of the planetary systems discovered around stars other than our Sun.
There has been speculation for centuries that planets might exist around stars other than our Sun. Might they form planetary systems like our solar system? Will life be found elsewhere one day? Planets were, in fact, discovered orbiting a pulsar in 1991 but, more interestingly, companions were found to stars like our Sun four years later. More stars with companions are continually being discovered and some 50 systems are known at the present time. Can some of these orbiting bodies be planets and what might they be made of? Is there a pattern in the systems being found? How do they compare with the solar system? Can they sustain living material? This article attempts to throw light on these questions.  相似文献

The levels of chromospheric and coronal activity of the Sun are compared with new vast observations of late-type stars. The solar chromosphere turned to be more powerful than in the main body of stars and the corona is considerably weakened. A wavelet analysis of activity indices and measurement results for the magnetic field of the Sun as a star was performed for several solar cycles. It was obtained that solar activity in the differential rotation differs from phenomena on less massive K stars with cycles and, in contrast to them, the large-scale magnetic field of the Sun is a regulating factor for active processes. These results can be naturally explained with the assumption that the activity of a star with a given mass depends on the depth of the lower base of the convective zone. This seems to require the development of knowledge about the two-level dynamo and a new approach to studying solar-type activity.  相似文献

Summary Using the highest global irradiance values (Sun plus sky) at noon derived from the records gathered during the years 1958 to 1963 at Genova, Monte Capellino and Sauze d'Oulx, it is demonstrated that the thermal energy which the Earth receives from the Sun is dependent from the Sun activity. Precisely, an increase of the thermal energy withR Z occurs up toR Z=160–170, whereas for greater values ofR Z the thermal energy received decreases with the increase ofR Z.

We recall how the Sun is introduced in the present climatic models and discuss why the solar standard model (SSM) framework is insufficient to describe the Sun–Earth medium term relationship. We then report on the different sources of variability. The SoHO mission allows a comparison between two successive solar minima and puts new constraints on the internal rotation profile. The coming space missions SDO and PICARD will add crucial information on internal circulations and on the superficial asphericity. The interplay between the solar dynamics and terrestrial atmospheric models is in its infancy, it calls for medium term uninterrupted solar observations which will take benefit of a formation flying concept.  相似文献

对于太阳活动22年周期的成因机制长期存在着争论.本文借助于行星会合指数以及开普勒第三定律,对太阳绕太阳系质心运动周期进行了分析计算.结果发现,太阳绕太阳系质心运动存在22.1826年显著周期,这与太阳磁场变化的22.20年周期相吻合.并从太阳系角动量守恒的角度解释了两者之间的成因联系:在太阳绕太阳系质心运动的准22年周期中,太阳系质心与太阳质心逐步接近而后逐步分离.当两个质心之间的距离接近零的时候,太阳轨道角动量与自转角动量叠加,会导致太阳自转角速度的加快;当两个质心之间的距离逐渐远离的时候,则导致太阳自转角速度的减慢.这可能是引发太阳活动和太阳磁场变化的原因.这一新认识为太阳活动准22年周期成因机制的解释提供了新的线索和依据.  相似文献
