Summary This study deals with the conditions of radio wave propagation in the link between the islands Chios and Lemnos and especially with the influence of weather situations upon this propagation. The field fading forms have been classified into three typesA, B andC which have an annual course of large amplitude. TypesA andB show their maximum frequency during the cold months of the year and their minimum during the warm months, while the typeC shows an annual course inverse to the courses of the typesA andB. This can be explained if it is taken into consideration that in the eastern Mediterranean the weather situations during the warm season are absolutely different from those of the cold season. Finally for the months January, April, July and October a correlation between the prevailing weather situations and the occurence of theA, B, C fading forms has been attempted, the main results of which were that the typeC occurs with weak winds, or with clear and calm weather as well as under the blowing of the Etesian winds, while the typeA is almost certainly due to the anticyclonic extensions during the cold season of the year and generally to the strong winds of the north sector.  相似文献

本文以拉格朗日观点分析北极涛动(Arctic Oscillation,AO),也被称为北半球环状模(Northern Hemisphere Annular Mode,NAM)的指数异常事件中北极近地面冷气团的活动路径,直接地表现出了异常事件中冷气团运动的优势路径,从而反映出AO/NAM对地面气温的直接调控作用.在正AO/NAM指数异常事件中,极区近地面冷气团活动轨迹以纬向环流为主,表现为环绕北半球中高纬地区的冷气团活动轨迹特征明显.而在负AO/NAM指数异常事件中,极区冷气团以反气旋式轨迹流出极区后,流入中纬度海洋上的低气压区,这种由极区向中纬度地区流动的经向运动轨迹特点显著.并且在指数下降的中后期出现两种强烈影响欧亚大陆的运动轨迹.正负事件中冷气团运动轨迹很好地解释了传统公认的AO/NAM对北半球不同地区冬季气温的影响.特别是对中国冬季气温的影响上,正AO/NAM指数异常事件中的中低层冷气团活动有利于南支槽加深,进而为南方地区冰冻雨雪天气提供了有利条件;而负事件中的极地近地面冷气团可直接影响东北地区,形成寒潮降温天气.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Man beobachtet Antizyklonen, die als Folge einer Konzentration von Kaltluftmasssen auf ein kleineres Gebiet gedeutet werden können. Die Konzentration der Kaltluft ist durch die Umwandlung der kinetischen Energie der Kaltluft in potentielle Energie oder durch die Wärmezufuhr der kalten Luft bedingt. Solche Antizyklonen bilden sich oft in Berggebieten, da dort wegen der grossen äusseren Reibung die erwähnte Umwandlung der Energie beschleunigt wird. Wie gross solche antizyklogenetischen Effekte sein können, ist berechnet.
Summary The origin of some anticyclones can be explained as a consequence of the concentration of the cold air on a smaler area. The concentration of the cold air is caused by a transformation of the kinetic energy of the cold air into the potential energy or by the heating of the cold air. Such anticyclones often appear in mountain regions where the transformation of the mentioned energy is more intense. The intensity of such anticyclogenetical effects is evaluated.

We examined how the projected increase in atmospheric CO2 and concomitant shifts in air temperature and precipitation affect water and carbon fluxes in an Asian tropical rainforest, using a combination of field measurements, simplified hydrological and carbon models, and Global Climate Model (GCM) projections. The model links the canopy photosynthetic flux with transpiration via a bulk canopy conductance and semi-empirical models of intercellular CO2 concentration, with the transpiration rate determined from a hydrologic balance model. The primary forcing to the hydrologic model are current and projected rainfall statistics. A main novelty in this analysis is that the effect of increased air temperature on vapor pressure deficit (D) and the effects of shifts in precipitation statistics on net radiation are explicitly considered. The model is validated against field measurements conducted in a tropical rainforest in Sarawak, Malaysia under current climate conditions. On the basis of this model and projected shifts in climatic statistics by GCM, we compute the probability distribution of soil moisture and other hydrologic fluxes. Regardless of projected and computed shifts in soil moisture, radiation and mean air temperature, transpiration was not appreciably altered. Despite increases in atmospheric CO2 concentration (Ca) and unchanged transpiration, canopy photosynthesis does not significantly increase if Ci/Ca is assumed constant independent of D (where Ci is the bulk canopy intercellular CO2 concentration). However, photosynthesis increased by a factor of 1.5 if Ci/Ca decreased linearly with D as derived from Leuning stomatal conductance formulation [R. Leuning. Plant Cell Environ 1995;18:339–55]. How elevated atmospheric CO2 alters the relationship between Ci/Ca and D needs to be further investigated under elevated atmospheric CO2 given its consequence on photosynthesis (and concomitant carbon sink) projections.  相似文献

The variations of the upper atmosphere air density during geomagnetic disturbances have been investigated by many authors. According to the analysis of satellite orbits, in most cases an increase in the air density may be observed when the indexA phas a maximum. Having ionospheric data from stations in Europe, Asia and Australia we might be able to study the global behaviour of the electron density in theF 2 region during such geomagnetic disturbances when an increase of the air density had been observed. In these cases we found, that at the peak of the ionospheric layer, the electron density decreased 0–3 days later than theA pmaximum.  相似文献

Summary In this study the different forms of the electromagnetic field strength recordings at the Thera-Crete microwave line of link are examined, in comparison with the corresponding weather situations prevailing over that area. According to the amplitude of fluctuations, the different forms of recordings have been classified in three basic typesA, B, C and the annual frequency of the appearance of these types has been observed. Finally, the influence of weather situations on radio wave propagation was examined and it has been found that in most cases a close relationship exists between weather situations and the different fading forms of the electromagnetic field so that a prediction of the fading form be possible by means of the weather forecast.This study was sponsored by a research grant from NATO's Scientific Committee.  相似文献

Summary In contrast to the well known fact that the ionospheric absorption minimum falls behind the maximum phase of the solar eclipse, in the present work the reverse effect is discovered and analysed, namely that the ionospheric absorption minimum falls before the maximum phase of the eclipse, while the maximum absorption comes behind it. Such anomalies can be observed only on paths of long waves at oblique incidence of the layer (length of the path over 1300 km). The theoretical analysis shows that the established effects are due to the considerable increase of the factor of negative ions, respectively of the effective recombination coefficient in the first phase of the eclipse for heights between 65 and 70 km, i. e. in the lower boundary of theD-Region (CR-Layer). In the second phase of the eclipse falls rapidly because of which at a constant electron production inCR-layer a strong increase of the absorption is observed similar to the known sunrise effects in theD-Region. The electron drift is intensified about the maximum phase of the eclipse.  相似文献

The local wind bora is a well-known phenomenon on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, where steep mountains, the Dinaric Alps, closely follow the coast. In a relatively undisturbed atmosphere the coastal thermal effect and the dynamic effect of orography give rise to a cool downslope land breeze, theborino, which develops at night-time, and particularly in the winter season, when the land-sea temperature contrast is large. The causes ofcold bora, with strong and gusty winds, are then attributed to the synoptic scale effects upon the local flow intensification and inland cold air supply. Since the interaction processes on various scale motions are involved in a sequence of bora spells, it is shown how the large scale anomalies may subsequently change the mesoscale characteristics of the bora environment and eventually make the bora appear as a relatively warm wind.  相似文献

Investigation of four sections of Tithonian to Valanginian pelagic limestone have led to refinement of the correlation of calpionellid zones to the magnetic polarity time scale. The correlations are self-consistent but differ slightly from those previously published. The discrepancy with the published correlation from the Bosso section [1] has been resolved by re-evaluation of the biostratigraphy of this sequence.The revised correlation places the base of theChitinoidella Zone in the lower part of polarity chron CM21n, the base of Zone A near the top of CM20n, the A/B boundary at the base of CM18, theB/C boundary in the upper part of CM17, theC/D boundary at the top of CM16 and theD/E boundary at the top of CM14.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Die magnetischen Bais werden in zwei Klassen (I und II) eingeteilt, je nachdem sie positive oder negative Ausschlagsrichtung inH zeigen. Wie die Analysen der charakteristischen Hauptstromvektoren ergeben, kann man aus dem Verhalten derH-Variationen allein nichts über den tatsächlichen Verlauf des ionosphärischen Strombandes aussagen. Da dieD-Variationen größenordnungsmäßig denH-Variationen entsprechen, gewinnt man erst nach Berücksichtigung beider Elemente ein sicheres Bild der Stromverhältnisse. So können bei ähnlichenD-Schwankungen aber entgegengesetzten Ausschlägen inH fast gleiche Stromverhältnisse in der Ionosphäre existieren. — Bemerkenswert ist bei sehr vielen Bais das Einsetzen desD-Maximums vor dem desH-Maximums. Das entspricht einer anfänglich meridionalen Strömung, die allmählich in eine zonale einbiegt.
Summary The magnetic bays are divided into two classes according to their positive or negative directions ofH. As results from the analysis the characteristic main-current-vectors nothing definitive can be concluded from the behavior of theH-variations alone concerning the actual course of the ionospheric ribbon-current. Since theD-variations in their sizes correspond with theH-variations a correct picture of the positions can be only won after considerations of eather element. Thus almost similar current situations may exist in the ionosphere provided similarD-fluctuations showing different directions inH are effective. — Particularly to be mentioned is the fact that in many bays the maximum appears before that of theH-maximum and this is corresponding to the initial meridional-current which slowly turns into a zonalcurrent.

Effects of Arctic Sea Ice Decline on Weather and Climate: A Review   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
The areal extent, concentration and thickness of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean and adjacent seas have strongly decreased during the recent decades, but cold, snow-rich winters have been common over mid-latitude land areas since 2005. A review is presented on studies addressing the local and remote effects of the sea ice decline on weather and climate. It is evident that the reduction in sea ice cover has increased the heat flux from the ocean to atmosphere in autumn and early winter. This has locally increased air temperature, moisture, and cloud cover and reduced the static stability in the lower troposphere. Several studies based on observations, atmospheric reanalyses, and model experiments suggest that the sea ice decline, together with increased snow cover in Eurasia, favours circulation patterns resembling the negative phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation and Arctic Oscillation. The suggested large-scale pressure patterns include a high over Eurasia, which favours cold winters in Europe and northeastern Eurasia. A high over the western and a low over the eastern North America have also been suggested, favouring advection of Arctic air masses to North America. Mid-latitude winter weather is, however, affected by several other factors, which generate a large inter-annual variability and often mask the effects of sea ice decline. In addition, the small sample of years with a large sea ice loss makes it difficult to distinguish the effects directly attributable to sea ice conditions. Several studies suggest that, with advancing global warming, cold winters in mid-latitude continents will no longer be common during the second half of the twenty-first century. Recent studies have also suggested causal links between the sea ice decline and summer precipitation in Europe, the Mediterranean, and East Asia.  相似文献

We have developed a thermodynamic model for the determination of the closure temperature (TC) at which the minerals defining an internal isochron in RbSr, or similar, geochronological system were set with a geochronological clock. It is shown that the equilibrium fractionation of87Rb and87Sr between a pair of minerals at TC [KD(87Rb87Sr)C] is given by the ratio of the quantity (87Rb/86Sr) in the two minerals as measured at the present time. KD(87Rb-87Sr), which equals the element distribution coefficient KD(RbSr) under equilibrium condition, can be calibrated as a function of temperature, and compared with the retrieved value of KD(87Rb87Sr)C in a natural pair to obtain TC. The various mineral pairs defining an internal isochron will yield concordant or discordant values of TC depending on whether or not they closed simultaneously with respect to the diffusion of Rb and Sr. Both types of results are expected, and are important in the analyses of the evolutionary history of the host rocks. Preliminary analyses of the published data in the RbSr system suggest a fairly wide range of TC even for the same mineral pair, reflecting differences in the cooling rates and physico-chemical environments of the host rocks.  相似文献

Summary The article describes lunar daily magnetic variation inH, D andZ components of the earth's magnetic field at Istanbul. Maximum occurs at 10.03 l.hr. (lunar hour) in theH component, 3.38 l.hr. in theD and 2.15 l.hr. in theZ component, during the period 1949 to 1968. Also, the seasonal variation of the lunar magnetic variation has been determined and it is seen that the variation of the phase inD andZ are opposite from the phase of the lunar variation inH, and the amplitudes of the lunar variation inH, D andZ are greatest during the northern solstice.  相似文献

Estimating reference evapotranspiration using numerical weather modelling   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Evapotranspiration is an important hydrological process and its estimation usually needs measurements of many weather variables such as atmospheric pressure, wind speed, air temperature, net radiation and relative humidity. Those weather variables are not easily obtainable from in situ measurements in practical water resources projects. This study explored a potential application of downscaled global reanalysis weather data using mesoscale modelling system 5 (MM5). The MM5 is able to downscale the global data down to much finer resolutions in space and time for use in hydrological investigations. In this study, the ERA‐40 reanalysis data are downscaled to the Brue catchment in southwest England. The results are compared with the observation data. Among the studied weather variables, atmospheric pressure could be derived very accurately with less than 0·2% error. On the other hand, the error in wind speed is about 200–400%. The errors in other weather variables are air temperature (<10%), relative humidity (5–21%) and net radiation (4–23%). The downscaling process generally improves the data quality (except wind speed) and provides higher data resolution in comparison with the original reanalysis data. The evapotranspiration values estimated from the downscaled data are significantly overestimated across all the seasons (27–46%) based on the FAO Penman–Monteith equation. The dominant weather variables are net radiation (during the warm period) and relative humidity (during the cold period). There are clear patterns among some weather variables and they could be used to correct the biases in the downscaled data from either short‐term in situ measurements or through regionalization from surrounding weather stations. Artificial intelligence tools could be used to map the downscaled data directly into evapotranspiration or even river runoff if rainfall data are available. This study provides hydrologists with valuable information on downscaled weather variables and further exploration of this potentially valuable data source by the hydrological community should be encouraged. Zusammenfassung In dem Ablauf des Jahresganges im Witterungsklima und der allgemeinen Zirkulation wirken sich monsunale Einflüsse aus. Das im Winter zeitweise auftretende ozeanwärts gerichtete Abströmen kontinental-arktischer Luft erfolgt in Zusammenhang mit Kaltlufthöhentrögen. Im Sommer bedingen die Nordwärtsverlagerung der nordatlantischen und nordpazifischen Hochdruckgebiete und der Aufbau von warmen Höhenhochdruckgebieten über Hochasien und Arizona dazwischenliegende Höhentröge, mit denen die monsunale Advektion maritimer Luftmassen in das Festland hinein verbunden ist. Auch das indische Monsuntief befindet sich in einem Höhentrog zwischen dem hochasiatischen Höhenhoch und dem nordwärts vorgerückten Hoch aus dem Südindischen Ozean. Die festländischen sommerlichen Höhenhochs üben eine blockierende Wirkung auf die Zirkulation aus. Der ebenfalls in die Großzirkulation eingreifende interhemisphärische Austausch von Masse und Moment tritt witterungsklimatisch am meisten dadurch in Erscheinung, daß die Entstehungsgebiete der tropischen Wirbelstürme den Trögen der jeweils anderen, winterlichen Halbkugel zugeordnet sind.
Witterungsklima (weather-climate) and general circulation considered in the light of monsoons and tropical storms
Summary The course of the annual variations of theWitterungs-klima and of the general circulation is subjected to monsoonal influences. The outflow of arctic air masses from the continent to the ocean occurring temporarily during the winter is related to upper air troughs of cold air. In summer, the northward displacement of the North Atlantic and the North Pacific anticyclones and the formation of warm upper air highs above Central Asia and Arizona cause intermediate air troughs to develop which, on their part, are related to the monsoonal advection of maritime air masses to the continent. The Indian monsoonal low is likewise located in an upper air trough between the upper air high above Central Asia and the high pressure area that advanced from the South Indian Ocean. In summer, the continental upper air highs exert a blocking action on the circulation. The interhemispheric exchange of mass and momentum which, too, reflects on the large scale circulation is mainly called into existence in its weather-climatic respect owing to the fact that the areas of origin of tropical storms (hurricanes, typhoons) are co-ordinated to the througs of the opposite winterly hemisphere.

Witterungsklima (climat du temps) et circulation générale considérés sous l'aspect des moussons et des cyclones tropicaux
Résumé Le cours des variations annuelles duWitterungsklima et de la circulation générale est sujet à des influences des moussons. Les écoulements à partir du continent vers l'océan des masses d'air arctiques, se produisant de temps en temps pendant l'hiver, sont reliés à des talwegs d'air froid en altitude. En été, le déplacement vers le nord des anticyclones de l'Atlantique Nord et du Pacifique Nord ainsi que la formation d'anticyclones en grande altitude au-dessus de l'Asie Centrale et d'Arizone causent la formation des hauts talwegs intercalés entre les anticyclones mentionnés ci-dessus. Ces talwegs ont rapport à l'advection de mousson des masses d'air maritime vers le continent. La dépression de mousson indien se trouve dans un talweg en altitude entre le haut anticyclone de l'Asie Centrale et l'anticyclone de l'océan Indien du Sud qui s'est déplacé vers le Nord. En été, les anticyclones continentaux en altitude ont un effet bloquant sur la circulation. L'échange interhémisphérique de masses et de moment qui réflète également sur la circulation générale se montre d'une manière la plus prononcée dans le «climat du temps» par suite du fait que les régions d'origine des cyclones tropicaux sont coordonnées à des trains de talwegs de l'hémisphère hivernal opposé.

本文从梯度风方程出发,证明温度梯度增强对涡度起到增强作用.因此当冷空气侵入热带气旋外围时,只要没有破坏热带气旋的暖心结构,就会引起温度梯度的增长,从而促进热带气旋的发生发展.本文采用NCAR/PSU研制的非静力中尺度模式MM5,研究北半球冷暖空气入侵在热带气旋形成和加强过程中的作用.通过研究冷暖空气对热带气旋发展影响的试验发现,冷暖空气在入侵热带气旋外围时,最主要改变的是外围的环流场.北半球冷空气的入侵将会增强热带气旋北面的北风,形成指向热带气旋中心的推力,即辐合增强,暖空气入侵减弱北面的北风,形成背向热带气旋中心的拉力,即辐合减弱.由于拉力作用,一方面把边界上由于冷空气入侵而生成的能量往热带气旋中心输送,另一方面导致温度梯度的增加.因此从天气学形势来看,在热带气旋发生发展的过程中,北方的冷高压将会增强热带气旋北面的风速,从而导致热带气旋的增强;南半球澳高的增强,将使越赤道气流增强,热带气旋南面的风速也因此增强,从而引起热带气旋的增强.  相似文献

An application of the EC8-3 procedure for safety assessment is presented herein. Besides testing the applicability of the code procedure, this application aims to assess the consistency of the safety assessment results that are obtained. Based on the application of the EC8-3 procedure, the study assesses if the different methods of analysis that are permitted lead to similar safety results and identifies the factors that may affect these results. Furthermore, the results obtained by the EC8-3 procedure are complemented by a probabilistic approach yielding their corresponding fragility values. By comparing the D/C ratios and the probabilistic results, the application aims to determine if similar D/C ratios lead to similar probabilistic results. Furthermore, the application tries to determine if a correlation can be established between the D/C ratios and the expected fragility values.  相似文献

采用ERA-Interim气象分析资料、云顶亮温TBB资料、Cloudsat云雷达资料、降雨量资料等,对2009年6月10日至12日我国东北地区的一次冷涡天气过程进行研究,重现了该冷涡的精细三维结构和演变过程.分析表明冷涡发生前,东北亚地区处于南北双槽结构之间,随后北槽向赤道发展切断后形成东北冷涡.南槽背景的冷涡热力结构特殊,强冷空气集中在涡内西北象限,暖湿空气在东北象限,南部为相对中性空气,该配置导致北部暖锋强盛,西部冷锋仅在发展初期较强,冷涡过程没有经典挪威学派的气旋锢囚锋出现.冷涡发展初期,狭长冷舌快速入侵南下,冷舌前冷锋对流降水较强,冷舌后部左侧还有暖锋降水;冷涡发展后期,冷锋减弱,冷锋上的高层云停止降水,系统内主要为冷涡北部的暖锋雨层云降水;冷涡成熟后,中心辐合加强,有较强的对流性降水.  相似文献

The triggering factors of rock falls remain unknown due to a lack of exhaustive, regular and accurate surveys. Based on an inventory of 331 rock falls collected weekly between 2002 and 2009 from Veules‐les‐Roses to Le Treport (Upper Normandy), the relationships between coastal chalk cliff rock falls (dates and geomorphological features) and external factors commonly agreed as triggering (rainfall, temperature variations, tide and wind) are studied. The combination of multivariate statistical and empirical analyses indicates that (1) ‘cold and dry weather’ and ‘high rainfall and high wind’ are the conditions most likely to trigger rock falls, (2) the main triggering factors of rock falls are effective rainfall (for rock falls mostly between 200 and 1400 m3 or larger than 10 000 m3 and coming from the whole cliff face), freeze/thaw cycles (especially for rock falls smaller than 200 m3 and coming from the foot and top of the cliff face) and marine roughness (rock falls mainly smaller than 200 m3 and coming from the cliff foot). However, the contribution of each factor to triggering is difficult to determine because of combinations of factors (85% of 331 cases), relays of processes and hysteresis phenomena. In view of these first results, it is still presumptuous to predict the location and time of triggering of rock falls. However, the statistical and naturalistic approaches adopted and the observations made in this study are from an original database, and constitute a real starting point for the prediction and prevention of the hazard of coastal chalk cliff rock falls in Upper Normandy. It is well acknowledged that there are large uncertainties associated with radar-based estimates of rainfall. Numerous sources of these errors are due to parameter estimation, the observational system and measurement principles, and not fully understood physical processes. Propagation of these uncertainties through all models for which radar-rainfall are used as input (e.g., hydrologic models) or as initial conditions (e.g., weather forecasting models) is necessary to enhance the understanding and interpretation of the obtained results. The aim of this paper is to provide an extensive literature review of the principal sources of error affecting single polarization radar-based rainfall estimates. These include radar miscalibration, attenuation, ground clutter and anomalous propagation, beam blockage, variability of the ZR relation, range degradation, vertical variability of the precipitation system, vertical air motion and precipitation drift, and temporal sampling errors. Finally, the authors report some recent results from empirically-based modeling of the total radar-rainfall uncertainties. The bibliography comprises over 200 peer reviewed journal articles.  相似文献
