This work continues earlier statistical analyses of catalogued proton events in cosmic rays. The spectra of proton enhancements identified from the logarithm of the ratio of the proton fluxes with energies exceeding 100 and 10 MeV, δ = log(F 100/F 10), are studied focusing on 172 powerful events with favorable conditions for escaping from the corona and subsequent propagation in the interplanetary space. The δ distribution for the flares is Gaussian, with a comparatively weak spread in δ. The distribution maximum corresponds to an excess of the 10 MeV flux over the 100 MeV flux by a factor of 30. The fact such a frequent spectrum does exist supports the idea that both soft and hard protons are efficiently accelerated, probably by a single mechanism that operates during the explosive phases of the flares. The sizes of the loops of M2-X4 flares observed by the Yohkoh Hard X-Ray Telescope at energies exceeding 50 keV indicate low heights for the main acceleration regions. There is some excess over the Gaussian distribution for “softer” events. Some post-eruptive phenomena can be clearly distinguished in these events, and they display a correlation between δ and the total flare duration. Thus, there are two sources of the particle acceleration operating at low and high altitudes during the explosive and post-eruptive phases of the solar flares, respectively. The second source, which is manifested through some prolonged flares and filament-ejection phenomena, accelerates protons only to energies of 10–30 MeV.  相似文献

Studies of the extreme solar proton event of January 20, 2005 intensified the contest over of a long-standing problem: are solar cosmic rays arriving at the Earth accelerated by solar flares or by shocks preceding rapidly moving coronal mass ejections? Among the most important questions is the relationship between the energy spectra of the solar cosmic rays and the frequency spectra of flare microwave bursts. Some studies of previous solar-activity cycles have shown that such a relationship does exist, in particular, for protons with energies of tens of MeV. The present work analyzes this relation using data for 1987–2008. For flare events observed in the western half of the disk, there is a significant correlation between the index δ, which is equivalent to the power-law index of the integrated energy spectrum of 10–100 MeV protons detected near the Earth’s orbit, and radio burst parameters such as a ratio of peak fluxes S at two frequencies (for example, at 9 and 15 GHz) and a microwave peak frequency f m . Proton fluxes with hard (flat) energy spectra (δ ≤ 1.5) correspond to hard microwave frequency spectra (S 9/S 15 ≤ 1 and f m ≥ 15 GHz), while flares with soft radio spectra (S 9/S 15 ≥ 1.5 and f m ≤ 5 GHz) result in proton fluxes with soft (steep) energy spectra (δ ≥ 1.5–2). It is also shown that powerful high-frequency bursts with the hardest radio spectra (f m ≈ 30 GHz) can point at acceleration of significant proton fluxes in flares occurring in strong magnetic fields. These results argue that solar cosmic rays (or at least their initial impulses) are mainly accelerated in flares associated with impulsive and post-eruptive energy release, rather than in shocks driven by coronal mass ejections.  相似文献

Observations of the total magnetic field in the active region NOAA 6757 have been used to study the turbulence regime from 2.5 h before the onset of a 2B/X1.5 flare until two minutes after its maximum. The curvature of the exponent ζ(q) for the structure functions of the B z field increases monotonically before the flare (i.e., the multifractal character of the B z field becomes more complex) but straightens at the flare maximum and coincides with a linear Kolmogorov dependence (implying a monofractal structure for the B z field). The observed deviations of ζ(q) from a Kolmogorov line can be used for short-term forecasting of strong flares. Analysis of the power spectra of the B z field and the dissipation of magnetic-energy fluctuations shows that the beginning of the flare is associated with the onset of a new turbulence regime, which is closer to a classical Kolmogorov regime. The scaling parameter (cancellation index) of the current helicity of the magnetic field, k h , remains at a high level right up until the last recording of the field just before the flare but decreases considerably at the flare maximum. The variations detected in the statistical characteristics of the turbulence can be explained by the formation and amplification of small-scale flux tubes with strong fields before the flare. The dissipation of magnetic energy before the flare is primarily due to reconnection at tangential discontinuities of the field, while the dissipation after the flare maximum is due to the anomalous plasma resistance. Thus, the flare represents an avalanche dissipation of tangential discontinuities.  相似文献

A charge-consistent numerical model for the joint (regular and stochastic) acceleration of iron by a spherical shock wave propagating in the solar corona is proposed. Large-scale irregularities of the plasma density and the nonisothermal injection of ions are taken into account. For the case of iron, the energy dependence of the mean charge qFe(E) is determined by the relationships between the characteristic acceleration time, the charge-variation time for the accelerated ions, and the time for their trapping in regions of high plasma density. Due to the global inhomogeneity of the medium, these relationships depend on the shock speed. Our calculations indicate that photoionization by soft X-rays from flare regions can substantially change the charge states of heavy ions only in the most powerful solar events (both impulsive and gradual).  相似文献

As part of our study of the components of the hierarchic quadruple system ADS 11061, we acquired spectroscopic observations of the binary 40 Dra. Echelle spectra showing the separation of the components’ lines were obtained in the spectral range 3700–9200 Å. Effective temperatures and surface gravities were derived for the components from BV photometry and the hydrogen-line profiles. The components of the 40 Dra system have parameters close to T eff a = 6420 K, log g a = 4.17, T eff b = 6300 K, and log g b = 4.20. We find the microturbulence velocity in the component atmospheres to be V t = 2.6 km/s. The abundances of iron, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen in the atmospheres of both components are estimated to be log N(Fe)a = 7.50, log N(Fe)b = 7.46, log N(C)a = 8.39, log N(C)b = 8.45, log N(N)a = 8.12, log(N)b = 8.15, log N(O)a = 8.77, log N(O)b = 8.74.  相似文献

We obtained speckle interferometric and spectroscopic observations of the system 41 Dra during its periastron passage in 2001. The components’ lines are resolved in the spectral interval 3700–9200 Å. The observed wavelength dependence of the brightness difference between the components is used to estimate the B-V indices separately for each of the components: B-V = 0.511 for component a and B-V = 0.502 for component b. We derived improved effective temperatures of the components from their B-V values and hydrogen-line profiles. The observations can be described with the parameters for the components T eff a = 6370 K, log ga = 4.05 and T eff b = 6410 K, log gb = 4.20. The iron, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen abundances in the atmospheres of the components are log N(Fe)a = 7.55, log N(Fe)b = 7.60, log N(C)a = 8.52, log N(C)b = 8.58, log N(N)a = 8.05, log N(N)b = 7.99, log N(O)a = 8.73, log N(O)b = 8.76.  相似文献

An analysis of high-resolution CCD spectra of the giant 25 Mon, which shows signs of metallicity, and the normal giant HR 7389 is presented. The derived effective temperatures, gravitational accelerations, and microturbulence velocities are Teff = 6700 K, log g = 3.24, and ξ t = 3.1 km/s for 25 Mon and Teff = 6630 K, log g = 3.71, and ξ t = 2.6 km/s for HR 7389. The abundances (log ε) of nine elements are determined: carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sodium, silicon, calcium, iron, nickel, and barium. The derived excess carbon abundances are 0.23 dex for 25 Mon and 0.16 dex for HR 7389. 25 Mon displays a modest (0.08 dex) oxygen excess, with the oxygen excess for HR 7389 being somewhat higher (0.15 dex). The nitrogen abundance is probably no lower than the solar value for both stars. The abundances of iron, sodium, calcium (for HR 7389), barium, and nickel exceed the solar values by 0.22–0.40 dex for both stars. The highest excess (0.62 dex) is exhibited by the calcium abundance for 25 Mon. Silicon displays a nearly solar abundance in both stars—small deficits of ?0.03 dex and ?0.07 dex for 25 Mon and HR 7389, respectively. No fundamental differences in the elemental abundances were found in the atmospheres of 25 Mon and HR 7389. Based on their Teff and log g values, as well as theoretical calculations, A. Claret estimated the masses, radii, luminosities, and ages of 25 Mon (M/M = 2.45, log(R/R) = 0.79, log(L/L) = 1.85, t = 5.3 × 108 yr) and HR 7389 (M/M = 2.36, log(R/R) = 0.50, log(L/L) = 1.24, t = 4.6 × 108 yr), and also of the stars 20 Peg (M/M = 2.36, log(R/R) = 0.73, log(L/L) = 1.79, t = 4.9 × 108 yr) and 30 LMi (M/M = 2.47, log(R/R) = 0.73, log(L/L) = 1.88, t = 4.8 × 108 yr) studied by the author earlier.  相似文献

Low-frequency pulsations of 22 and 37 GHz microwave radiation detected during solar flares are analyzed. Several microwave bursts observed at the Metsähovi Radio Observatory are studied with time resolutions of 100 and 50 ms. A fast Fourier transformation with a sliding window and the Wigner-Ville method are used to obtain frequency-time diagrams for the low-frequency pulsations, which are interpreted as natural oscillations of coronal magnetic loops; the dynamical spectra of the pulsations are synthesized for the first time. Three types of low-frequency fluctuations modulating the flare microwave radiation can be distinguished in the observations. First, there are fast and slow magneto-acoustic oscillations with periods of 0.5–0.8 s and 200–280 s, respectively. The fast magneto-acoustic oscillations appear as trains of narrow-band signals with durations of 100–200 s, a positive frequency drift dν/dt=0.25 MHz/min, and frequency splitting δν=0.01–0.05 Hz. Second, there are natural oscillations of the coronal magnetic loops as equivalent electrical circuits. These oscillations have periods of 0.5–10 s and positive or negative frequency drift rates dν/dt=8×10?3 Hz/min or dν/dt=?1.3×10?2 Hz/min, depending on the phase of the radio outburst. Third, there are modulations of the microwave radiation by short periodic pulses with a period of 20 s. The dynamical spectra of the low-frequency pulsations supply important information about the parameters of the magnetic loops: the ratio of the loop radius to its length r/L≈0.1, the plasma parameter β≈10?3, the ratio of the plasma densities outside and inside the loop ρei≈10?2, and the electrical current flowing along the loop I≈1012 A.  相似文献

The influence of oxygen fugacity (fO2) and temperature on the valence and structural state of iron was experimentally studied in glasses quenched from natural aluminosilicate melts of granite and pantellerite compositions exposed to various T-fO2 conditions (1100–1420°C and 10?12–10?0.68 bar) at a total pressure of 1 atm. The quenched glasses were investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy. It was shown that the effect of oxygen fugacity on the redox state of iron at 1320–1420°C can be described by the equation log(Fe3+/Fe2+) = k log(fO2) + q, where k and q are constants depending on melt composition and temperature. The Fe3+/Fe2+ ratio decreases with decreasing fO2 (T = const) and increasing temperature (fO2 = const). The structural state of Fe3+ depends on the degree of iron oxidation. With increasing Fe3+/Fe2+ ≥ 1, the dominant coordination of Fe3+ changes from octahedral to tetrahedral. Ferrous iron ions occur in octahedral (and/or five-coordinated) sites independent of Fe3+/Fe2+.  相似文献

The solar event SOL2012–10–23T03:13, which was associated with a X1.8 flare without an accompanying coronal mass ejection (CME) and with a Type II radio burst, is analyzed. A method for constructing the spatial and temporal profiles of the difference brightness detected in the AIA/SDOUVand EUV channels is used together with the analysis of the Type II radio burst. The formation and propagation of a region of compression preceded by a collisional shock detected at distances R < 1.3R from the center of the Sun is observed in this event (R is the solar radius). Comparison with a similar event studied earlier, SOL2011–02–28T07:34 [1], suggests that the region of compression and shock could be due to a transient (impulsive) action exerted on the surrounding plasma by an eruptive, high-temperature magnetic rope. The initial instability and eruption of this rope could be initiated by emerging magnetic flux, and its heating from magnetic reconnection. The cessation of the eruption of the rope could result from its interaction with surrounding magnetic structures (coronal loops).  相似文献

ROSAT spectra of 11 supersoft X-ray sources are approximated with theoretical spectra obtained in LTE models for the atmospheres of hot white dwarfs with line blanketing. The confidence intervals of parameters derived from these approximations—Teff, log, g, NH, and R2/d2—are determined. The results are compared with predictions for a model with stable/recurrent thermonuclear burning on the white-dwarf surface.  相似文献

We have used high-resolution spectra to study the giants 15 Ori and 22 ? Sex. The effective temperature T eff = 7060 K, gravity log g = 3.16, and microturbulence velocity ξ t = 3.5 km/s were determined for 15 Ori, with T eff = 7350 K and log g = 3.90 for 22 ? Sex (the microturbulence velocity for 22 ? Sex was assumed to be ξ t = 2.7 km/s). We estimated the abundances of C, N, O, Na, Si, Ca, Fe, and Ba (N and Ba, for 15 Ori only). The abundances of carbon, iron, and oxygen in 22 ? Sex are higher than the solar values by +0.31 dex, +0.33 dex, and +0.18 dex, respectively, while the calcium abundance is ?0.19 dex below the solar level. For 15 Ori, we find a slight carbon excess (+0.19 dex), a slight nitrogen deficiency (?0.13 dex), and a considerable deficiency of silicon (?0.42 dex). The abundances of the remaining elements in both stars are near-solar. We find no substantial differences between the abundances derived for 15 Ori and 22 ? Sex and the results of earlier studies of giants by both ourselves and Erspamer and North. A comparison of the atmospheric elemental abundances of giants and δ Scuti stars indicates that the abundances of some lighter elements (oxygen, sodium, silicon, and possibly nitrogen) are somewhat lower for δ Scuti stars than for A-F giants. We determined the masses, radii, luminosities, and ages for 15 Ori and 22 ? Sex.  相似文献

Absorption of the synchrotron emission of the quasar 3C 345 in the continuum and H(93–95)α and H(78–79)α radio recombination lines is studied. The upper limit for absorption in the H(93–95)α lines is Tal/Tac < 0.7%; absorption in the H(78–79)α lines with antenna temperature Tal = 25 mK, linewidth Δf = 5.3 ± 0.08 MHz, and Tal/Tac ≥ 0.3% has been detected. A correction to the redshift Δz = 0.00135 ± 0.00008 (z = 0.59365) has been determined.  相似文献

The atmospheric abundances of 30 chemical elements in the halo star HD 221170 are analyzed by fitting synthetic spectra to observed spectra (i) with a resolution of 60 000 and signal-to-noise ratios of about 200 taken with the 1.93-m telescope of the Observatoire de Haute Provence and (ii) with a resolution of 35 000 and signal-to-noise ratios of more than 100 taken with the 2-m telescope of the Terskol Peak Observatory. The derived parameters of the stellar atmosphere are Teff=4475 K, log g=1.0, [Fe/H]=?2.03, Vmicro=1.7 km/s, and Vmacro=4 km/s. The parameters Teff, log g, [Fe/H], and Vmicro can be determined by analyzing the variations of the rms error of the mean iron abundance derived using different model atmospheres. The chemical composition of the star’s atmosphere is analyzed. The abundances of a total of 35 elements in HD 221170 have been derived in this paper and in previous studies. Overall, the abundances of elements lighter than praseodymium are consistent with the elemental abundances in the atmospheres of stars with similar metal deficits. Copper and manganese are underabundant by ?2.9 and ?2.6 dex, respectively, relative to the Sun (when the analysis includes the effects of hyperfine structure). Heavy r-process elements (starting from praseodymium) are overabundant compared to iron-group elements. This can be explained by an enrichment in r-process elements of the material from which the star was formed.  相似文献

In this study, the seismicity rate changes that can represent an earthquake precursor were investigated along the Sagaing Fault Zone (SFZ), Central Myanmar, using the Z value technique. After statistical improvement of the existing seismicity data (the instrumental earthquake records) by removal of the foreshocks and aftershocks and man-made seismicity changes and standardization of the reported magnitude scales, 3574 earthquake events with a M w ≥ 4.2 reported during 1977–2015 were found to directly represent the seismotectonic activities of the SFZ. To find the characteristic parameters specifically suitable for the SFZ, seven known events of M w ≥ 6.0 earthquakes were recognized and used for retrospective tests. As a result, utilizing the conditions of 25 fixed earthquake events considered (N) and a 2-year time window (T w), a significantly high Z value was found to precede most of the M w ≥ 6.0 earthquakes. Therefore, to evaluate the prospective areas of upcoming earthquakes, these conditions (N = 25 and T w = 2) were applied with the most up-to-date seismicity data of 2010–2015. The results illustrate that the vicinity of Myitkyina and Naypyidaw (Z = 4.2–5.1) cities might be subject to strong or major earthquakes in the future.  相似文献

Shear heating by reverse faulting on a sharp straight fault plane is modelled. Increase in temperature (T i ) of faulted hangingwall and footwall blocks by frictional/shear heating for planar rough reverse faults is proportional to the coefficient of friction (μ), density and thickness of the hangingwall block (ρ). T i increases as movement progresses with time. Thermal conductivity (K i ) and thermal diffusivity (\(k_{\mathrm {i}}^{\prime }\)) of faulted blocks govern T i but they do not bear simple relation. T i is significant only near the fault plane. If the lithology is dry and faulting brings adjacent hangingwall and footwall blocks of the same lithology in contact, those blocks undergo the same rate of increase in shear heating per unit area per unit time.  相似文献

The results of hydrodynamical calculations of radially pulsating helium stars with masses 0.5MM≤0.9M, bolometric luminosities 600L≤5×103L, and effective temperatures 1.5×104 K≤Teff≤3.5×104 K are presented. The pulsation instability of these stars is due to the effects of ionization of iron-group elements in layers with temperatures T~2×105 K. The calculations were carried out using opacities for the relative mass abundances of hydrogen and heavy elements X=0 and Z=0.01, 0.015, and 0.02. Approximate formulas for the pulsation constant Q over the entire range of pulsation instability of the hot helium stars in terms of the mass M, radius R, effective temperature Teff, and heavy-element abundance Z are derived. The instability of BX Cir to radial pulsations with the observed period Π=0.1066 d occurs only for a mass M≥0.55M, effective temperature Teff≥23000 K, and heavy-element abundance Z≥0.015. The allowed mass of BX Cir is in the range 0.55MM≤0.8M, which corresponds to luminosities 800LM≤1400L and mean radii 1.7R?R?2.1R.  相似文献

We have used spectrograms taken with a dispersion of 8–12 Å per mm and Kurucz model atmospheres to study the supergiant 89 Her (F2Ibe).We find the effective temperature and gravity T eff = 6300 ± 150 K and log g = 0.5 ± 0.2. We have analyzed the microturbulence in the star’s atmosphere based on FeI, FeII, and TiII lines, deriving ξ t = 7.0 ± 0.5 km/s for the FeI and TiII lines and ξ t = 8.0 ± 0.5 km/s for the FeII lines. Abundances were determined for 23 elements. The elemental abundances in the atmosphere of 89 Her show deficiencies compared to the solar chemical composition, except for sodium, which is overabundant relative to the Sun.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity of aqueous fluids containing 0.01, 0.1, and 1 M NaCl was measured in an externally heated diamond cell to 600 °C and 1 GPa. These measurements therefore more than double the pressure range of previous data and extend it to higher NaCl concentrations relevant for crustal and mantle fluids. Electrical conductivity was generally found to increase with pressure and fluid salinity. The conductivity increase observed upon variation of NaCl concentration from 0.1 to 1 M was smaller than from 0.01 to 0.1 M, which reflects the reduced degree of dissociation at high NaCl concentration. Measured conductivities can be reproduced (R 2 = 0.96) by a numerical model with log \(\sigma\) = ?1.7060– 93.78/T + 0.8075 log c + 3.0781 log \(\rho\) + log \(\varLambda\) 0(T, \(\rho\)), where \(\sigma\) is the conductivity in S m?1, T is temperature in K, c is NaCl concentration in wt%, \(\rho\) is the density of pure water (in g/cm3) at given pressure and temperature, and \(\varLambda\) 0 (T, \(\rho\)) is the molar conductivity of NaCl in water at infinite dilution (in S cm2 mol?1), \(\varLambda\) 0 = 1573–1212 \(\rho\) + 537 062/T–208 122 721/T 2. This model allows accurate predictions of the conductivity of saline fluids throughout most of the crust and upper mantle; it should not be used at temperatures below 100 °C. In general, the data show that already a very small fraction of NaCl-bearing aqueous fluid in the deep crust is sufficient to enhance bulk conductivities to values that would be expected for a high degree of partial melting. Accordingly, aqueous fluids may be distinguished from hydrous melts by comparing magnetotelluric and seismic data. H2O–NaCl fluids may enhance electrical conductivities in the deep crust with little disturbance of v p or v p/v s ratios. However, at the high temperatures in the mantle wedge above subduction zones, the conductivity of hydrous basaltic melts and saline aqueous fluids is rather similar, so that distinguishing these two phases from conductivity data alone is difficult. Observed conductivities in forearc regions, where temperatures are too low to allow melting, may be accounted for by not more than 1 wt% of an aqueous fluid with 5 wt% NaCl, if this fluid forms a continuous film or fills interconnected tubes.  相似文献

The results of an analysis of the activity of the young stars with planetary systems EPIC 211901114 and K2–33 based on observational data obtained over 70 days with the Kepler Space Telescope are presented. The rotation periods of EPIC 211901114 (8.56±0.60d) and K2–33 (6.29±0.50d) have been found. Maps of temperature inhomogeneities on the surfaces of EPIC 211901114 and K2–33 have been constructed. No relative displacements of the active regions on the stellar surface have been foundfor EPIC 211901114. The differential-rotation parameter has been estimated for K2–33, ΔΩ = 0.0039±(0.0020–0.0012) rad/day. The fractional spotted area S on the surface of EPIC 211901114 reaches about 5% of its total visible surface. For K2–33, S is 3.8% of its total visible surface, on average. On the whole, the positions of EPIC 211901114 and K2–33 on S–age, S–rotation period, and S–Rossby number diagrams match the general character of the dependence found earlier for M dwarfs. The flare activity of EPIC 211901114 and K2–33 has been studied, based on 32 flares of EPIC 211901114 and 7 flares of K2–33. The flare frequencies and amplitudes for EPIC 211901114 and K2–33 have been estimated, together with the time scales for their rise and decay. The flare energies have also been estimated, 1032.1?33.4 and 1032.2?33.3 erg for EPIC 211901114 and K2–33, respectively.  相似文献
