In this paper it is shown that any recorded motion has an imaginary counterpart. Starting from the harmonic input motion where the sine function is the imaginary counterpart of the cosine function, it is shown that all time histories exist in pairs. The imaginary counterpart of records is not needed when the response of a system is described by a real-parameter constitutive model. However, it is shown that when complex-parameter models are used, the imaginary counterpart of records has equal importance as the real-valued record and in this case the input motion should be strictly complex valued. The procedure to construct the imaginary counterpart of any piecewise continuous record is developed. A constructed complex-valued earthquake time history is used as input motion to a system described by a Kelvin model with complex damping constant. The validity of the procedure is demonstrated by comparing the response of the complex-damping Kelvin model against the results obtained from a mathematically equivalent real-valued formulation.  相似文献

In this article two new approaches are presented for time domain identification of base isolated buildings from recorded response during earthquakes: (1) a least squares technique with time segments is developed to identify the piece-wise linear system properties; and (2) an observer is used to estimate the unmeasured states and initial conditions of different time segments. In base isolated buildings changes in dynamic properties occur during earthquake response due to nonlinear behavior. Hence, a multi-input and multi-output technique using time segments is developed for piece-wise linear system identification. The primary advantage of the developed time segmented technique is that it can be applied to windows of time history instead of the entire duration of earthquake response. The developed technique (1) starts with identification using the entire duration of the earthquake response; (2) evaluation of time segments during which the identified response differs significantly from the recorded response to establish windows of time history during which refined identification is necessary; and (3) identification of the change in dynamic properties in the established windows using the observer based time segmented least squares approach. Only partial state measurements are usually available for identification. Hence, an observer is used to estimate the unmeasured states and initial conditions needed for different time segments. By comparing identified response with recorded response, of an actual base isolated building which experienced Northridge earthquake, it is shown that the change in dynamic system parameters, such as periods and damping ratios, due to nonlinear response, are reliably estimated using the presented technique.  相似文献

In spite of a geometrical rotation into radial and transverse parts, two- or three-component in-seam seismic data used for underground fault detection often suffer from the problem of overmoding ‘noise’. Special recompression filters are required to remove this multimode dispersion so that conventional reflection seismic data processing methods, e.g. CMP stacking techniques, can be applied afterwards. A normal-mode superposition approach is used to design such multimode recompression filters. Based on the determination of the Green's function in the far-field, the normal-mode superposition approach is usually used for the computation of synthetic single- and multi-mode (transmission) seismograms for vertically layered media. From the filter theory's point of view these Green's functions can be considered as dispersion filters which are convolved with a source wavelet to produce the synthetic seismograms. Thus, the design of multimode recompression filters can be reduced to a determination of the inverse of the Green's function. Two methods are introduced to derive these inverse filters. The first operates in the frequency domain and is based on the amplitude and phase spectrum of the Green's function. The second starts with the Green's function in the time domain and calculates two-sided recursive filters. To test the performance of the normal-mode superposition approach for in-seam seismic problems, it is first compared and applied to synthetic finite-difference seismograms of the Love-type which include a complete solution of the wave equation. It becomes obvious that in the case of one and two superposing normal modes, the synthetic Love seam-wave seismograms based on the normal-mode superposition approach agree exactly with the finite-difference data if the travel distance exceeds two dominant wavelengths. Similarly, the application of the one- and two-mode recompression filters to the finite-difference data results in an almost perfect reconstruction of the source wavelet already two dominant wavelengths away from the source. Subsequently, based on the dispersion analysis of an in-seam seismic transmission survey, the normal-mode superposition approach is used both to compute one- and multi-mode synthetic seismograms and to apply one- and multimode recompression filters to the field data. The comparison of the one- and two-mode synthetic seismograms with the in-seam seismic transmission data reveals that arrival times, duration and shape of the wavegroups and their relative excitation strengths could well be modelled by the normal-mode superposition approach. The one-mode recompressions of the transmission seismograms result in non-dispersive wavelets whose temporal resolution and signal-to-noise ratio could clearly be improved. The simultaneous two-mode recompressions of the underground transmission data show that, probably due to band-limitation, the dispersion characteristics of the single modes could not be evaluated sufficiently accurately from the field data in the high-frequency range. Additional techniques which overcome the problem of band-limitation by modelling all of the enclosed single-mode dispersion characteristics up to the Nyquist frequency will be mandatory for future multimode applications.  相似文献

Pyroclastic-laden explosive eruptions from Santiaguito Volcano (Guatemala) are vented from the 200-m diameter Caliente Dome summit and result in a superposition of spatially extensive and temporally sustained (tens of seconds to minutes) acoustic sources. A network of infrasonic microphones distributed on various sides of the volcano record distinct waveforms, which are poorly correlated across the network and suggestive of acoustic interference from multiple sources. Presuming the infrasound wavefield is a linear superposition of spatially and temporally distinct sub-events, we introduce a semblance mapping technique to recover the time history of the spatially evolving sources during successive time windows. Coincident high-resolution video footage corroborates that both rapid dome uplift and individual explosive pulses are likely sources of high semblance infrasound that are identifiable during short (2 s) time windows. This study suggests that complex and network-variable infrasound waveforms are produced whenever a volcanic vent source dimension is large compared to the wavelength of the sound being produced. Non-compact infrasound radiators are probably commonplace at silicic volcanic systems, where venting often occurs across a dome surface.  相似文献

位场分离是位场数据处理和解释中的重点和难点之一.本文给出了单步长非原位和原位两种最小曲率位场分离差分迭代格式,并利用Fourier频谱分析理论研究了这两种迭代格式的收敛性.通过研究表明,单步长非原位迭代格式不收敛,只有单步长原位迭代格式收敛,但单步长原位迭代格式受迭代方向选择的影响,随着迭代次数的增大其影响逐渐消失.根据单步长非原位迭代格式的频谱特点,提出了叠加步长非原位和原位迭代格式,同样利用Fourier频谱分析理论研究了叠加步长非原位和原位迭代格式的收敛性.通过研究认为,一维叠加步长非原位迭代格式收敛,但二维叠加步长非原位迭代格式不收敛;不论是一维或二维,其原位迭代格式均收敛.进一步的理论研究表明,非原位迭代格式的频率响应是一个实偶函数,而原位迭代格式的频率响应是一个复函数;单步长迭代格式的频率响应具有一定的周期性,而叠加步长迭代格式的频率响应无周期性特征;叠加步长迭代格式比单步长迭代格式的收敛性好.  相似文献

While superposition is commonly used to address linear ground water problems, it can also be used to address certain nonlinear problems. In particular, it can be used to address problems with nonlinear head-dependent fluxes, where the problem can be separated conveniently into steady-state and transient-state components. Superposition can be used to simulate the transient-state head changes independently from the steady-state heads. The problems addressable by superposition include phreatophyte discharges, stream-aquifer interactions, spring discharges, and drain discharges. Each of these represents a nonlinear head-dependent flux, where the flux depends on the elevation of the land surface or some other feature. Superposition is applied by referencing elevations to the local steady-state water table and by imposing the negative of the steady-state flux on the transient-state problem.  相似文献

An investigation on the validity of the conventional design approach known as constant displacement ductility is carried out. The hysteretic behaviour described by the Modified Takeda model is taken to represent the characteristics of reinforced concrete structural systems. The results presented in the form of seismic damage spectra indicate that the conventional design approach may not be valid because cumulative damage is excessively high. The inelastic design spectra based on the constant‐damage concept are proposed in terms of simplified expressions. The expressions are derived from constant‐damage design spectra computed by non‐linear response analysis for SDOF systems subjected to ground motions recorded on rock sites, alluvium deposits, and soft‐soil sites. The proposed expressions, which are dependent on the local soil conditions, are functions of target seismic damage, displacement ductility ratio and period of vibration. The seismic damage of structures that have been designed based on this new design approach is also checked by a design‐and‐evaluation approach. The results are found to be satisfactory. 本文用时程分析、振型迭加和小波变换3种方法,对一个10层建筑结构的地震动力响应进行了计算和比较,三者的结果完全一致,从而说明了线性时不变系统结构动力响应的唯一性定律是正确的。由于时程分析法可以用于非线性系统,而振型分解法只能用于线性系统,小波变换不但可以用于非线性,更可以用来进行多尺度分析的能谱计算,它能使抗震分析从传统的滞回耗能模型,提高到以结构损伤和延性评价的体系上来。  相似文献

现代地震数据采集器中广泛使用的最小相位滤波器和线性相位滤波器各有不足之处,最小相位滤波引起的“振铃”尾波,线性相位滤波引起的“前缀”波,无法用后续处理的方法消除。本文提出一种专用于地震波形采集的瞬态滤波器设想,该瞬态滤波器既能满足最小相位特性,又能保持较好的线性相位特性。本文用Matlab设计出了可以满足上述条件的瞬态滤波器,并通过仿真比较了正弦接入波通过3种滤波器的输出波形。从仿真结果可以看出,与最小相位和线性相位滤波相比较,该瞬态滤波器的波形失真最小。  相似文献

混合结构的阻尼矩阵不满足经典阻尼条件,导致传统的模态叠加法无法适用。复阻尼理论无法适用于时域计算,其自由振动响应中存在发散现象。针对混合结构的阻尼矩阵非比例性和复阻尼理论的时域发散性,基于频域等效原则构建了求解Rayleigh阻尼系数的数学优化模型,进而得到与复阻尼理论等效的Rayleigh阻尼运动方程。算例分析表明:依据位移时程响应和结构等效阻尼比可证明Rayleigh阻尼运动方程的正确性。基于本文研究成果,等效复阻尼理论的混合结构Rayleigh阻尼运动方程可直接采用模态叠加法,结合其确定的结构等效阻尼比,为混合结构的振型分解反应谱法提供理论依据。  相似文献

利用标准偏差法和固定质量法,研究了新疆天山地区跨越多个不同构造地貌单元的两条地形剖线的自仿射分形和多重分形特征。结果表明:在所研究的标度范围内,两条剖线均表现出了不同特征的多度域分形性质,多重分形谱Dq的形态和值域范围也呈现出不同特征研究认为,地貌形态并不是完全随机的,而是一种确定性随机,不同标度区间的分维值表征了内外营力作用的方式,强度和空间尺度,同时提出地貌宏观与微观作用尺度的分界点在5km左右。这些结果对地貌动力学定量研究具有重要意义。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In an age of billion dollar particle accelerators and Mars rovers, it is surprising that solitary waves were first discovered by a man on horseback with no tools but his own eyes. A century and a half later, more complicated patterns of ridges, so-called hyperelliptic two-polycnoidal waves, were discovered in the ocean during a beach vacation. The inverse scattering method, which solves nonlinear partial differential equations through a sequence of solving purely linear equations, is a blend of quantum theory and hydrodynamics that arose from informal, unstructured conversations (i.e. goofing off) among a group of postdocs from different disciplines who were randomly assigned to the same office. The cnoidal wave in the lemniscate case is well-approximated by a nonlinear solitary wave and equally well approximated by a linear sine wave. It is always and exactly the superposition of solitary waves even in the limit in which it is an infinitesimal sine wave. The history and science of solitary waves has the disorienting quality of an M. C. Escher drawing. Here, we cannot give an understanding of these deep subjects in so brief an article; rather we strive to unveil the beauty and unexpectedness of these topics to give the reader a reason to pursue these in the much more comprehensive reviews and books we cite. Further, we stress the “scotomas” (blind spots), misconceptions and surprises, the sociology and epistemology of science. It is true that failed theories, scotomas, serendipity and cognitive saltation (progress in jumps) is characteristic of science. It is also true that the invention of the train was the invention of the train wreck. Engineering learns from each disaster and science should do the same. The highly nonlinear history of nonlinear waves is reported not to disrespect the past but to replace scientific fatalism with a constructive wariness. We are not smarter or more enlightened than Scott Russell or Stokes or Landau, but we can learn from their scotomas and misconceptions as much as from their triumphs.  相似文献

A mathematical model for the response spectra is determined using statistical analysis. The form of the model is first established using fifty computer simulated accelerograms. The final form is then used on twenty-five accelerograms from fifteen past United States earthquakes. This model smooths out peaks and valleys which are characteristic of the response spectrum of any single earthquake. Thus it serves as a ‘smooth design spectrum’ and can be used to approximate structural response to a future seismic event.  相似文献

The statistical concept of the power spectrum has proven to be of great value in the analysis of time series and linear systems for which the inputs and outputs are functions of time. This paper shows how the concept can be extended to two-dimensional spatial power spectra and illustrates, by example, how the concept can be applied to the determination of optimal data processing methods for satellite-derived magnetic anomaly data and to the planning of missions to obtain such data.The analysis techniques indicated are applied to a data set and data processing procedure described by Mayhew et al. (1980). These authors describe magnetic anomaly data for Australia and surrounding ocean obtained by the polar orbit POGO series satellites. This paper shows that the data processing method used by these authors is approximately equivalent to an invariant two-dimensional linear filter and that it is reasonably close to optimal with respect to accuracy, though some possible improvements are suggested. Nevertheless, as is usual when filtering data, some real “signal” is unavoidably removed along with the “noise”, resulting in errors that can be quite large.A method for reducing these errors by using additional data from a medium inclination orbit satellite (for example, 60° inclination) is suggested.  相似文献

A numerical procedure for evaluation of the fracture process of gravity dams during strong earthquakes is presented. The BEM is used to discretize the dam reservoir system including the crack surfaces, and stress intensity factors at the crack tip are employed in a stage by stage procedure which simulates the crack extension. For each stage of constant crack length the mode superposition technique is applied; this is made possible by simulating the impact process of crack closing by a load pulse applied at the contact points which permits the structural stiffness to be assumed unchanged. To verify the proposed procedure, a cantilever beam model structure made of gypsum was tested on a shaking table. Good correlation with the numerical results was obtained, from which it is concluded that the procedure can be employed for evaluation of the crack propagation process in concrete structures subjected to dynamic loadings.  相似文献

由于气枪震源信号较弱, 容易受外界噪声或者地震等因素干扰, 而使得其真实的振幅被掩盖。 这些干扰记录若直接参与叠加容易导致振幅信息不可靠, 也会影响叠加效果。 为消除干扰影响, 提出概率筛选和噪声模型筛选振幅叠加方法, 以2018年6月在福建龙门滩水库和沙溪口水库的气枪实验数据为例, 从剔除干扰的能力、 波形形态、 振幅值等方面说明两种方法的实际效果, 并对比两者的优缺点。 研究结果表明: ① 两种筛选方法均能有效去除异常干扰, 经处理后的气枪信号的波形形态和最大振幅值与直接线性叠加基本一致; ② 对于固定台网台站, 噪声频谱方法可方便确认台站的运行状态, 及时筛除异常台站; ③ 对于灵敏度等信息不详的流动台站, 噪声模型筛选方法使用受限, 而概率筛选方法简洁, 适用性强。  相似文献
