The variations of kinematic parameters with age are considered for a sample of 15 402 thin-disk O-F stars with accurate ??, ??, ??, and ?? > 3 mas from the Hipparcos catalogue and radial velocities from the PCRV catalogue. The ages have been calculated from the positions of the stars on the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram relative to the isochrones from the Padova database by taking into account the extinction from the previously constructed 3D analytical model and extinction coefficient R V from the 3D map of its variations. Smooth, mutually reconciled variations of the velocity dispersions ??(U), ??(V), ??(W), solar motion components U ??, V ??, W ??, Ogorodnikov-Milne model parameters, Oort constants, and vertex deviation l xy consistent with all of the extraneous results for which the stellar ages were determined have been found. The velocity dispersion variations are well fitted by power laws the deviations from which are explained by the influence of predominantly radial stellar streams: Sirius, Hyades, ?? Cet/Wolf 630, and Hercules. The accuracy of determining the solar motion relative to the local standard of rest is shown to be fundamentally limited due to these variations of stellar kinematics. The deviations of our results from those of Dehnen and Binney (1998), the Geneva-Copenhagen survey of dwarfs, and the Besan con model of the Galaxy are explained by the use of PCRV radial velocities with corrected systematic errors.  相似文献

We performed for the first time stereoscopic triangulation of coronal loops in active regions over the entire range of spacecraft separation angles (?? sep??6°,43°,89°,127°,and 170°). The accuracy of stereoscopic correlation depends mostly on the viewing angle with respect to the solar surface for each spacecraft, which affects the stereoscopic correspondence identification of loops in image pairs. From a simple theoretical model we predict an optimum range of ?? sep??22°??C?125°, which is also experimentally confirmed. The best accuracy is generally obtained when an active region passes the central meridian (viewed from Earth), which yields a symmetric view for both STEREO spacecraft and causes minimum horizontal foreshortening. For the extended angular range of ?? sep??6°??C?127° we find a mean 3D misalignment angle of ?? PF??21°??C?39° of stereoscopically triangulated loops with magnetic potential-field models, and ?? FFF??15°??C?21° for a force-free field model, which is partly caused by stereoscopic uncertainties ?? SE??9°. We predict optimum conditions for solar stereoscopy during the time intervals of 2012??C?2014, 2016??C?2017, and 2021??C?2023.  相似文献

Mirror mode waves in the solar wind are typically observed not as quasi-periodic sinusoidal signatures, but as trains of nonperiodic structures of two types: magnetic ??peaks?? and magnetic ??dips.?? Some trains of long durations have been called mirror mode storms. In this work we report mirror mode waves downstream of a stream interaction region (SIR) forward shock observed near 1?AU on 7?May 2007 with Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) and Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) data. The high-resolution magnetic-field data (0.125-second resolution) from STEREO are scanned to search for magnetic dips and peaks (or upgoing magnetic ??mesas??) in the solar wind. STEREO-A observes a mirror mode storm: the appearance of mirror mode waves (mainly magnetic peaks and upgoing mesas) is simultaneous with the entry into a high-density, high-temperature, and high plasma ?? accompanied by a depressed field region; the magnetic dips survive in the lower plasma-?? region. STEREO-B observes mirror mode waves (mainly magnetic peaks) with different amplitudes and asymmetric forms, which can survive in a low plasma ?? region. THEMIS-D, which was located in the solar wind, also observes mirror mode waves (mainly magnetic peaks and upgoing mesas) as well as an enhanced ion temperature anisotropy (T ????3T ??). The enhanced ion temperature anisotropy and high plasma ?? satisfy the mirror-instability criterion. These observations of STEREO and THEMIS-D show that mirror mode waves can be excited downstream of a SIR forward shock near 1?AU.  相似文献

To redetermine the Galactic spiral density wave parameters, we have performed a spectral (Fourier) analysis of the radial velocities for 44 masers with known trigonometric parallaxes, proper motions, and line-of-sight velocities. The masers are distributed in awide range of Galactocentric distances (3.5 kpc < R < 13.2 kpc) and are characterized by a wide scatter of position angles ?? in the Galactic XY plane. This has required an accurate allowance for the dependence of the perturbation phase both on the logarithm of the Galactocentric distances and on the position angles of the objects. To increase the significance of the extraction of periodicities from data series with large gaps, we have proposed and implemented a spectrum reconstruction method based on a generalized maximum entropy method. As a result, we have extracted a periodicity describing a spiral density wave with the following parameters from the maser radial velocities: the perturbation amplitude f R = 7.7 ?1.5 +1.7 km s?1, the perturbation wavelength ?? = 2.2 ?0.1 +0.4 kpc, the pitch angle of the spiral density wave i = ?5 ?0.9° +0.2° , and the phase of the Sun in the spiral density wave ?? ?? = ?147 ?17° +3° .  相似文献

We have studied the rotation of the solar corona using the images taken at a 9.4?nm wavelength by the AIA 094 instrument on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) satellite. Our analysis implies that the solar corona rotates differentially. It appears that ??, the angular rotation velocity of the solar corona, does not only depend on heliographic latitude but is also a function of time, while the nature of the latter dependence remains unclear. Besides measurement errors, deviations ???? from the mean rotational speed are also caused by proper motion of the observed point source (the tracer) with respect to its surroundings. The spread in ?? values at a particular heliographic latitude is a real effect, not caused by measurement errors. Most of the observations carry relative error less than 1?% in???.  相似文献

We investigate the possibility to diagnose the ??-distributions from the EUV spectra observed by the Hinode/EIS spectrometer. Observable lines of the most abundant elements except Fe are considered. Synthetic spectra for the ??-distributions with ??=2??C?10 and the Maxwellian distribution were calculated for a range of temperatures and electron densities. We find that only a small number of O, S, Ca, and Ni line ratios are sensitive to???. A?list of the best diagnostic options using transition region and coronal lines is provided. Usually, the line ratios sensitive to ?? are also sensitive to electron density. Weak O?iv lines are a notable exception. These lines offer greatest sensitivity to ?? from all the lines observed by Hinode/EIS. Density diagnostics using lines of the non-Fe elements is discussed and the influence of ?? on the diagnostics of electron density is presented. The density diagnostics using these non-Fe EIS lines are strongly affected by both known and unknown blends. Therefore, we performed the density diagnostics using the Fe?xii??C?xiv lines. Subsequently, these proposed diagnostic methods for ??-distributions are tested using the spectral atlas obtained by Brown et?al. (Astrophys. J. Suppl. 176, 511, 2008). These data do not provide conclusive evidence for the presence of ??-distributions due to possible plasma multitermality, a low observed signal-to-noise ratio, and unremovable or unknown blends.  相似文献

With the goal of investigating the degree at which the MIR luminosity in the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) traces the SFR, we analyse 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 ??m data in a sample of ~140,000 star-forming galaxies or star-forming regions covering a wide range in metallicity 7.66 < 12 + log(O/H)<9.46, with redshift z?< 0.4. These star-forming galaxies or star-forming regions are selected by matching the WISE Preliminary Release Catalog with the star-forming galaxy Catalog in SDSS DR8 provided by JHU/MPA1?. We study the relationship between the luminosity at 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 ??m from WISE and H?? luminosity in SDSS DR8. From these comparisons, we derive reference SFR indicators for use in our analysis. Linear correlations between SFR and the 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 ??m luminosity are found, and calibrations of SFRs based on L(3.4), L(4.6), L(12) and L(22) are proposed. The calibrations hold for galaxies with verified spectral observations. The dispersion in the relation between 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 ??m luminosity and SFR relates to the galaxy??s properties, such as 4000 ? break and galaxy color.  相似文献

The radial dependences of the star formation efficiency??SFE = ??SFR/??gas (per unit disk surface area) in normal surface brightness spiral galaxies and low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies are compared with the radial variations of the gas and stellar disk surface and volume densities. The volume density of the components in the disk midplane is found through a self-consistent solution of the disk equilibrium equations by taking into account the dark halo. The disk thickness variation with radius R is calculated within the model of a galaxy with a marginally stable disk by taking into account the increase of the stability parameter Q T,c along the radius. We show that the star formation efficiency depends weakly (for LSB galaxies, does not depend at all) on the gas density but correlates well with the disk surface and volume density, with the normal and LSB galaxies forming a single sequence. The dependence vanishes only at extremely low disk densities (?? disk ? (1?3) M ?? pc?2, ?? stars ?? (1?3) × 10?24 g cm?3), where star formation probably ceases to be related to disk properties. Estimations of the gas volume density allow us to check the expected form of the ??SFR-?? disk relationship that follows from the model by Ostriker et al., which relates the star formation rate to the pressure of the diffuse gas medium. For most of the galaxies considered, there is satisfactory agreement with the model, except for the densest (of the order of several hundred M ?? pc?2) and least dense (several M?? pc?2 or less) disk regions.  相似文献

The transport of energy in space plasmas, especially in the solar wind, is far from being understood. Measuring the temperature of the electrons and their non-thermal properties is essential to understand the transport properties in collisionless plasmas. Quasi-thermal noise spectroscopy is a reliable tool for measuring the electron temperature accurately since it is less sensitive to the spacecraft perturbations than particle detectors. We apply this method to Ulysses radio data obtained during the first pole-to-pole fast latitude scan in the high-speed solar wind, using a kappa function to describe the electron velocity distribution. We deduce the variations with heliocentric distance between 1.5 and 2.3 AU in the fast solar wind at high latitude in terms of three fitting parameters: the electron density varies as n e??R ?1.96±0.08, the electron temperature as T e??R ?0.53±0.15, and the kappa index of the distribution remains constant at ??=2.0±0.2. These observations agree with the predictions of the exospheric theory.  相似文献

We present the cosmological parameters constraints obtained from the combination of galaxy cluster mass function measurements (Vikhlinin et al. 2009a, 2009b) with new cosmological data obtained during last three years: updated measurements of cosmic microwave background anisotropy with Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) observatory, and at smaller angular scales with South Pole Telescope (SPT), new Hubble constant measurements, baryon acoustic oscillations and supernovae Type Ia observations. New constraints on total neutrino mass ??m ?? and effective number of neutrino species are obtained. In models with free number of massive neutrinos the constraints on these parameters are notably less strong, and all considered cosmological data are consistent with non-zero total neutrino mass ??m ?? ?? 0.4 eV and larger than standard effective number of neutrino species, N eff ?? 4. These constraints are compared to the results of neutrino oscillations searches at short baselines. The updated dark energy equation of state parameter constraints are presented. We show that taking in account systematic uncertanties, current cluster mass funstion data provide similarly powerful constraints on dark energy equation of state, as compared to the constraints from supernovae Type Ia observations.  相似文献

The Fresnel Diffractive Array Imager (FDAI) relies on diffraction focusing to potentially ouput very high wavefront quality particularly in the Ultraviolet. After Chesnokov (Russ Space Bull 1(2), 1993) or Barton (Appl Opt 40(4):447?C451, 2001), we intend to develop tangible optical designs for space missions at the horizon 2025. This paper refers to the phase 0 study completed at CNES. We canvass here different optical scenarios adapted to space formation flying, discussing the technologies involved, their level of maturity and criticity. Large spectral domains were investigated from Lyman-?? to Infra-Red, with competitive aperture size and ambitious objectives. We conclude by a 4-m class UV space mission scenario that could be the first launched imager of this kind.  相似文献

We analyze the occurrence-frequency distributions of peak fluxes [P], total fluxes [E], and durations [T] of solar flares over the last three solar cycles (during 1980??C?2010) from SMM/HXRBS, CGRO/BATSE, and RHESSI hard X-ray data. From the synthesized data we find powerlaw slopes with mean values of ?? P =1.73±0.07 for the peak flux, ?? E =1.62±0.12 for the total flux, and ?? T =1.99±0.35 for flare durations. We find a tendency of an anti-correlation of the powerlaw slope of peak fluxes with the flare rate or sunspot number as a function of the solar cycle. The occurrence powerlaw slope is always steeper by ??????0.1 during a solar-cycle minimum compared with the previous solar-cycle maximum, but the relative amplitude varies for each cycle or instrument. Since each solar cycle has been observed with a different instrument, part of the variation could be attributed to instrumental characteristics and different event selection criteria used in generating the event catalogs. The relatively flatter powerlaw slopes during solar maxima could indicate more energetic flares with harder electron-energy spectra, probably due to a higher magnetic complexity of the solar corona. This would imply a non-stationarity (or solar-cycle dependence) of the coronal state of self-organized criticality.  相似文献

The Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is designed to study oscillations and the magnetic field in the solar photosphere. It observes the full solar disk in the Fe?i absorption line at 6173 Å. We use the output of a high-resolution, 3D, time-dependent, radiation-hydrodynamic simulation based on the CO 5 BOLD code to calculate profiles F(??,x,y,t) for the Fe?i 6173 Å line. The emerging profiles F(??,x,y,t) are multiplied by a representative set of HMI filter-transmission profiles R i (??, 1??i??6) and filtergrams I i (x,y,t; 1??i??6) are constructed for six wavelengths. Doppler velocities V HMI(x,y,t) are determined from these filtergrams using a simplified version of the HMI pipeline. The Doppler velocities are correlated with the original velocities in the simulated atmosphere. The cross-correlation peaks near 100 km, suggesting that the HMI Doppler velocity signal is formed rather low in the solar atmosphere. The same analysis is performed for the SOHO/MDI Ni?i line at 6768 Å. The MDI Doppler signal is formed slightly higher at around 125 km. Taking into account the limited spatial resolution of the instruments, the apparent formation height of both the HMI and MDI Doppler signal increases by 40 to 50 km. We also study how uncertainties in the HMI filter-transmission profiles affect the calculated velocities.  相似文献

Phobos Laser Ranging (PLR) is a concept for a space mission designed to advance tests of relativistic gravity in the solar system. PLR’s primary objective is to measure the curvature of space around the Sun, represented by the Eddington parameter γ, with an accuracy of two parts in 107, thereby improving today’s best result by two orders of magnitude. Other mission goals include measurements of the time-rate-of-change of the gravitational constant, G and of the gravitational inverse square law at 1.5-AU distances—with up to two orders-of-magnitude improvement for each. The science parameters will be estimated using laser ranging measurements of the distance between an Earth station and an active laser transponder on Phobos capable of reaching mm-level range resolution. A transponder on Phobos sending 0.25-mJ, 10-ps pulses at 1 kHz, and receiving asynchronous 1-kHz pulses from earth via a 12-cm aperture will permit links that even at maximum range will exceed a photon per second. A total measurement precision of 50 ps demands a few hundred photons to average to 1-mm (3.3 ps) range precision. Existing satellite laser ranging (SLR) facilities—with appropriate augmentation—may be able to participate in PLR. Since Phobos’ orbital period is about 8 h, each observatory is guaranteed visibility of the Phobos instrument every Earth day. Given the current technology readiness level, PLR could be started in 2011 for launch in 2016 for 3 yr of science operations. We discuss the PLR’s science objectives, instrument, and mission design. We also present the details of science simulations performed to support the mission’s primary objectives.  相似文献

Data from the STEREO (Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory) mission are intensively used for 3D reconstruction of solar coronal structures. After the launch of the SDO (Solar Dynamic Observatory) satellite, its additional observations give the possibility to have a third eye for more accurate 3D reconstruction in the very low corona (<?1.5?R ??). With our reconstruction code MBSR (Multi-view B-spline Stereoscopic Reconstruction), we use three view directions (STEREO A, B, and SDO) to perform the 3D reconstruction and evolution of a prominence which triggered a CME on 1 August 2010. In the paper we present the reconstruction of this prominence from the moment it starts to erupt until it leaves the field of view of the coronagraph. We also determine the evolution of the leading edge of the CME. Based on the temporal evolution, we analyze some of its properties, such as velocity, acceleration, opening and rotation angles and evolution of the cavity.  相似文献

GETEMME (Gravity, Einstein??s Theory, and Exploration of the Martian Moons?? Environment), a mission which is being proposed in ESA??s Cosmic Vision program, shall be launched for Mars on a Soyuz Fregat in 2020. The spacecraft will initially rendezvous with Phobos and Deimos in order to carry out a comprehensive mapping and characterization of the two satellites and to deploy passive Laser retro-reflectors on their surfaces. In the second stage of the mission, the spacecraft will be transferred into a lower 1500-km Mars orbit, to carry out routine Laser range measurements to the reflectors on Phobos and Deimos. Also, asynchronous two-way Laser ranging measurements between the spacecraft and stations of the ILRS (International Laser Ranging Service) on Earth are foreseen. An onboard accelerometer will ensure a high accuracy for the spacecraft orbit determination. The inversion of all range and accelerometer data will allow us to determine or improve dramatically on a host of dynamic parameters of the Martian satellite system. From the complex motion and rotation of Phobos and Deimos we will obtain clues on internal structures and the origins of the satellites. Also, crucial data on the time-varying gravity field of Mars related to climate variation and internal structure will be obtained. Ranging measurements will also be essential to improve on several parameters in fundamental physics, such as the Post-Newtonian parameter ?? as well as time-rate changes of the gravitational constant and the Lense-Thirring effect. Measurements by GETEMME will firmly embed Mars and its satellites into the Solar System reference frame.  相似文献

The radio radii of the Sun at wavelengths of 5, 10.7, 12, and 95 cm have been determined from eclipse observations as R5 ?? (1.0 ± 0.015)R ??, R 10,12 = (1.05 ± 0.003)R ??, and R 95 = (1.2 ± 0.02)R ??. The bright-ness temperatures of quiet solar disk areas at these wavelengths have turned out to be Td 5 = (22 ± 2) × 103, Td 10 = (44 ± 3) × 103, Td 12 = (47 ± 3) × 103, and Td 95 = (1000 ± 30) × 103 K. There were local sources of radio emission with angular sizes from 1.9 to 2.4 arcmin and brightness temperatures from 80 × 103 to 1.75 × 106 K above sunspot groups at short wavelengths of 5, 10.7, and 12 cm. The radio flux from the local sources at 95 cm turned out to be below the detection threshold of 1.0 × 10?22 W m?2 Hz?1. Comparison of the values obtained with the results of observations of another eclipse on August 1, 2008, occurred at the epoch of minimum of the 11-year solar cycle has shown that the radio radius of the Sun at 10.7 and 12 cm increased from 1.016 R ?? to 1.05 ± 0.003R ??, the height of the emitting layer at these wavelengths moved from 11 × 103 km to (30 ± 7) × 103 K, and the brightness temperature of the quiet Sun rose from (35.8 ± 0.4) × 103 K to (44 ± 3) × 103 K at 10.7 cm and from (37.3 ± 0.4) × 103 K to (47 ± 3) × 103 K at 12 cm. Consequently, the parameters of the solar atmosphere changed noticeably in 2 years in connection with the beginning of the new solar cycle 24. The almost complete absence of local sources at the longest wavelength of 95 cm suggests that the magnetic fields of the sunspot groups on January 4, 2011, were weak and did not penetrate to the height from where their emission could originate. If this property is inherent in most sunspot groups of cycle 24, then it can be responsible for its low flare activity.  相似文献

The negative effective magnetic pressure instability discovered recently in direct numerical simulations (DNSs) may play a crucial role in the formation of sunspots and active regions in the Sun and stars. This instability is caused by a negative contribution of turbulence to the effective mean Lorentz force (the sum of turbulent and non-turbulent contributions) and results in the formation of large-scale inhomogeneous magnetic structures from an initially uniform magnetic field. Earlier investigations of this instability in DNSs of stably stratified, externally forced, isothermal hydromagnetic turbulence in the regime of large plasma ?? are now extended into the regime of larger scale separation ratios where the number of turbulent eddies in the computational domain is about 30. Strong spontaneous formation of large-scale magnetic structures is seen even without performing any spatial averaging. These structures encompass many turbulent eddies. The characteristic time of the instability is comparable to the turbulent diffusion time, L 2/?? t, where ?? t is the turbulent diffusivity and L is the scale of the domain. DNSs are used to confirm that the effective magnetic pressure does indeed become negative for magnetic field strengths below the equipartition field. The dependence of the effective magnetic pressure on the field strength is characterized by fit parameters that seem to show convergence for larger values of the magnetic Reynolds number.  相似文献

One of the key goals of NASA’s astrophysics program is to answer the question: How did galaxies evolve into the spirals and elliptical galaxies that we see today? We describe a space mission concept called Galaxy Evolution Spectroscopic Explorer (GESE) to address this question by making a large spectroscopic survey of galaxies at a redshift, z~1 (look-back time of ~8 billion years). GESE is a 1.5-m space telescope with an ultraviolet (UV) multi-object slit spectrograph that can obtain spectra of hundreds of galaxies per exposure. The spectrograph covers the spectral range, 0.2–0.4 μm at a spectral resolving power, R~500. This observed spectral range corresponds to 0.1–0.2 μm as emitted by a galaxy at a redshift, z=1. The mission concept takes advantage of two new technological advances: (1) light-weighted, wide-field telescope mirrors, and (2) the Next-Generation MicroShutter Array (NG-MSA) to be used as a slit generator in the multi-object slit spectrograph.  相似文献

In the following paper, certain black hole dynamic potentials have been developed definitively on the lines of classical thermodynamics. These potentials have been refined in view of the small differences in the equations of the laws of black hole dynamics as given by Bekenstein and those of thermodynamics. Nine fundamental black hole dynamical relations have been developed akin to the four fundamental thermodynamic relations of Maxwell. The specific heats C ??,?? and C J,Q have been defined. For a black hole, these quantities are negative. The ??dA equation has been obtained as an application of these fundamental relations. Time reversible processes observing constancy of surface gravity are considered and an equation connecting the internal energy of the black hole E, the additional available energy defined as the first free energy function K, and the surface gravity ??, has been obtained. Finally as a further application of the fundamental relations, it has been proved for a homogeneous gravitational field in black hole space times or a de Sitter black hole that $C_{\Omega ,\Phi } -C_{J,Q} =\kappa \left[ {\left( {\frac{\partial J}{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{\Omega ,\Phi } \left( {\frac{\partial \Omega }{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{J,Q} +\left( {\frac{\partial Q}{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{\Omega ,\Phi } \left( {\frac{\partial \Phi }{\partial \kappa }} \right)_{J,Q} } \right]$ . This is dubbed as the homogeneous fluid approximation in context of the black holes.  相似文献
