Concurrent interplanetary magnetic field and 0.7–7.6 MeV proton cosmic-ray anisotropy data obtained from instrumentation on Explorers 34 and 41 are examined for five cosmic-ray events in which we observe a persistent eastern-anisotropy phase late in the event (t ? 4 days). The direction of the anisotropy at such times shows remarkable invariance with respect to the direction of the magnetic field (which generally varies throughout the event) and it is also independent of particle species (electrons and protons) and particle speed over the range 0.06 ? β ? 0.56. The anisotropy is from the direction 38.3° ± 2.4° E of the solar radius vector, and is inferred to be orthogonal to the long term, mean interplanetary field direction. Both the amplitude of the anisotropy and the decay time constant show a strong dependence on the magnetic field azimuth. Detailed comparison of the anisotropy and the magnetic field data shows that the simple model of convection plus diffusion parallel to the magnetic field is applicable for this phase of the flare effect. It is demonstrated that contemporary theories do not predict the invariance of the direction as observed, even when the magnetic field is steady; these theories need extension to take into account the magnetic field direction ψ varying from its mean direction ψ o. It is shown that the late phase anisotropy vector is not expected to be everywhere perpendicular to the mean magnetic field. The suggestion that we are observing kinks in the magnetic field moving radially outwards from the Sun leads to the conclusion that the parallel diffusion coefficient varies as 1/cos2 (ψ ? ψ o). Density gradients in the late decay phase are estimated to be ≈ 700%∣AU for 0.7–7.6 MeV protons. A simple theory reproduces the dependence of the decay time constant on anisotropy; it also leads to a radial density gradient of about 1000%∣AU and diffusion coefficient of 1.3 × 1020 cm2 s?1.  相似文献

In the present paper we have studied the nonlinear dynamical equation of Landau damped kinetic Alfvén wave (KAW) to investigate the nonlinear evolution of KAW and the resulting turbulent spectra in solar wind plasmas. We have introduced a parameter g which governs the coupling between the amplitude of the pump KAW and the density perturbation. The numerical solution has been carried out to see the dependence on the parameter g in the nonlinear part of our equation. Our results reveal the formation of damped localized structures of KAW as well as steepening of the turbulent spectra by increasing g when damping is taken into account. The power spectra of magnetic field fluctuations indicate the redistribution of energy among the higher wave numbers. Each power spectrum with and without damping splits up into two different scaling ranges, Kolmogorov scaling followed by a steeper scaling. The steepening in the power spectra with Landau damping is more than without Landau damping case (for the same value of g). This type of steeper spectra has also been observed in the solar wind and is attributed to the Landau damping effects.  相似文献

It is shown that the asymptotic σ1(r) and ψ1(r) relations can be derived very simply by using the method of double series expansion, where σ1, ψ1(r,0) and ψ1 are the surface density perturbation, the gravitational potential perturbation at the symmetric plane Z=0 and the average potential perturbation respectively. The results are accurate to the order of both m2(kr)?2 and k〈∣z∣〉, where m is the number of spiral arms, k is the radial wave number, r is the distance from the centre of the galaxy, and 〈∣z∣〉 is the average vertical distance of a star from the Symmetrie plane Z=0. Such an accuracy is usually sufficient for the discussion of spiral modes in a spiral galaxy of small but finite disk thickness. It is pointed out that ψ1(r,0)~(σ1(r) relation can be expressed in a unified form for different vertical density profiles if 〈∣z∣〉 is adopted as the thickness scale, and that ψ1(r,0)~(σ1(r) can be expressed in a unified form for different vertical density profiles if 〈∣z?z∣〉 the average vertical separation between two stars, is adopted as the thickness scale. Only the value of the ratio 〈|z?z′|〉z〈|z|〉 is a functional of the vertical density profile. However, for the usual physically meaningful profiles, these values are very close to each other: It is 2 for the Gaussian profile, 1Ln2 = 1.443 for the rmsech2(zz1(r)) profile, and 1.5 for the exp[?|z|z1(r)] profile.  相似文献

We derive the expression for the ponderomotive force in the real multicomponent magnetospheric plasma containing heavy ions. The ponderomotive force considered includes the induced magnetic moment of all the species and arises due to inhomogeneity of the traveling low-frequency electromagnetic wave amplitude in the nonuniform medium. The nonlinear stationary force balance equation is obtained taking into account the gravitational and centrifugal forces for the plasma consisting of the electrons, protons and heavy ions (He+). The background geomagnetic field is taken for the dayside of the magnetosphere, where the magnetic field have magnetic “holes” (Antonova and Shabansky in Geomagn. Aeron. 8:639, 1968). The balance equation is solved numerically to obtain the nonlinear density distribution of ions (H+) in the presence of heavy ions (He+). It is shown that for frequencies less than the helium gyrofrequency at the equator the nonlinear plasma density perturbations are peaked in the vicinity of the equator due to the action of the ponderomotive force. A comparison of the cases of the dipole and dayside magnetosphere is provided. It is obtained that the presence of heavy ions leads to decrease of the proton density modification.  相似文献

Finite amplitude convection in the presence of a horizontal magnetic field has been investigated in a region where thermal diffusivity (κ) is less than magnetic diffusivity (η) and whenκ/η > 1,QQ c, where $$Q_c = \frac{{(1 + \sigma _1 )(\pi ^2 + q_c^2 )^2 }}{{q_c^2 (\sigma _2 - \sigma _1 )}}$$ ,Q is the Chandrasekhar number,σ 1 the Prandtl number,σ 2 the magnetic Prandtl number, andq c the critical wave number at the onset of stationary convection. We have derived a nonlinear time-dependent Landau—Ginzburg equation near the onset of supercritical stationary convection and a nonlinear, second-order equation at the Takens—Bogdanov bifurcation. We have obtained steady-state solutions of these equations, which describe the nonlinear behaviour near the onset of stationary convection.  相似文献

When observed noontime values of the maximum electron density, NMAX(F2), in the ionospheric F2 region are plotted as a function of magnetic latitude, a curve is produced which has two peaks, one on either side of the dip equator at ± 16° dip latitude. This paper theoretically investigates the daily variation of this latitudinal distribution of NMAX(F2) (the so-called Appleton or equatorial anomaly) and specifically attempts to account for the longitudinal differences observed between the American and Asian sectors.Part I outlines the theory involved in solving the time-dependent plasma continuity equation in which production, loss, and transport of ionization are taken into account, where the effects of neutral wind, ambipolar diffusion and E × B drift are included in the transport term. By describing the geomagnetic field in two equivalent ways, B = ? ▽γ and B = ▽α × ▽β, where α, β and γ are known magnetic scalar potentials, the spherical r, θ and φ space coordinates of the continuity equation are transformed to coordinates which define directions parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field thus putting the equation in a form suitable for numerical integration.  相似文献

Improvements to an existing method for calculating nonlinear force-free magnetic fields (Wheatland, Solar Phys. 238, 29, 2006) are described. In particular a solution of the 3-D Poisson equation using 2-D Fourier transforms is presented. The improved nonlinear force-free method is demonstrated in application to linear force-free test cases with localized nonzero values of the normal component of the field in the boundary. These fields provide suitable test cases for nonlinear force-free calculations because the boundary conditions involve localized nonzero values of the normal components of the field and of the current density, and because (being linear force-free fields) they have more direct numerical solutions. Despite their simplicity, fields of this kind have not been recognized as test cases for nonlinear methods before. The examples illustrate the treatment of the boundary conditions on current in the nonlinear force-free method, and in particular the limitations imposed by field lines that connect outside of the boundary region.  相似文献

We consider two types of streamer structures observed in the solar atmosphere. Structures of the first type are medium-scale configurations with scale lengths comparable to the scale height in the corona, kT/mg = 100 thousand km, which appear as characteristic plasma structures in the shape of a dome surrounding the active region with thin streamers emanating from its top. In configurations of this type, gravity plays no decisive role in the mass distribution. The plasma density is constant on magnetic surfaces. Accordingly, the structure of the configurations is defined by the condition ψ = const, where ψ is the flux function of the magnetic field. Structures of the second type are large-scale configurations (coronal helmets, loops, and streamers), which differ from the above structures in that their scale lengths exceed the scale height in the corona. For them, gravity plays a decisive role; as a result, instead of the magnetic surfaces, the determining surface is BgradΦ = 0. We constructed three-dimensional images of these structures. Some of the spatial curves called “visible contours” of the Br = 0 surface are shown to be brightest in the corona. We assume that the helmet boundaries and polar plumes are such curves.  相似文献

We derive an analytical approximation of nonlinear force-free magnetic field solutions (NLFFF) that can efficiently be used for fast forward-fitting to solar magnetic data, constrained either by observed line-of-sight magnetograms and stereoscopically triangulated coronal loops, or by 3D vector-magnetograph data. The derived NLFFF solutions provide the magnetic field components B x (x), B y (x), B z (x), the force-free parameter α(x), the electric current density j(x), and are accurate to second-order (of the nonlinear force-free α-parameter). The explicit expressions of a force-free field can easily be applied to modeling or forward-fitting of many coronal phenomena.  相似文献

Based on a second-order approximation of nonlinear force-free magnetic field solutions in terms of uniformly twisted field lines derived in Paper I, we develop here a numeric code that is capable to forward-fit such analytical solutions to arbitrary magnetogram (or vector magnetograph) data combined with (stereoscopically triangulated) coronal loop 3D coordinates. We test the code here by forward-fitting to six potential field and six nonpotential field cases simulated with our analytical model, as well as by forward-fitting to an exactly force-free solution of the Low and Lou (Astrophys. J. 352, 343, 1990) model. The forward-fitting tests demonstrate: i) a satisfactory convergence behavior (with typical misalignment angles of μ≈1°?–?10°), ii) relatively fast computation times (from seconds to a few minutes), and iii) the high fidelity of retrieved force-free α-parameters (α fit/α model≈0.9?–?1.0 for simulations and α fit/α model≈0.7±0.3 for the Low and Lou model). The salient feature of this numeric code is the relatively fast computation of a quasi-force-free magnetic field, which closely matches the geometry of coronal loops in active regions, and complements the existing nonlinear force-free field (NLFFF) codes based on photospheric magnetograms without coronal constraints.  相似文献

A theory of galactic morphology results from the consideration of isoplethic surfaces in states of geometric equilibrium within the theory of general relativity. In the linearized case, one solves ?2ψ+ρ2ψ=0 on the surface of an oblate spheroid with unit semimajor axis and eccentricity ε. The surface defined by $$x^2 + y^2 + z^2 /(1 - \varepsilon ^2 ) = {\text{exp (}}\psi {\text{)}}$$ are then equilibrium isopleths. The resulting morphological system contains two continuous parameters (ε and the norm of ψ) and an integer-valued parametern. The system includes the ellipticals as special cases, and the various available profiles are given for a variety of values of the parameters. The forms are sufficiently varied as to represent NGC 3115, 128, 7332, and IC 3973. These forms cease to be enigmatic for they fit into an orderly sequence progressing out of the ellipticals and have equilibrium interpretations as previously obtained only for the ellipticals.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the behavior of equation of state parameter and energy density for dark energy in the framework of f(T) gravity. For this purpose, we use anisotropic LRS Bianchi type I universe model. The behavior of accelerating universe is discussed for some well-known f(T) models. It is found that the universe takes a transition between phantom and non-phantom phases for f(T) models except exponential and logarithmic models. We conclude that our results are relativity analogous to the results of FRW universe.  相似文献

The motion of a point mass in the J 2 problem is generalized to that of a rigid body in a J 2 gravity field. The linear and nonlinear stability of the classical type of relative equilibria of the rigid body, which have been obtained in our previous paper, are studied in the framework of geometric mechanics with the second-order gravitational potential. Non-canonical Hamiltonian structure of the problem, i.e., Poisson tensor, Casimir functions and equations of motion, are obtained through a Poisson reduction process by means of the symmetry of the problem. The linear system matrix at the relative equilibria is given through the multiplication of the Poisson tensor and Hessian matrix of the variational Lagrangian. Based on the characteristic equation of the linear system matrix, the conditions of linear stability of the relative equilibria are obtained. The conditions of nonlinear stability of the relative equilibria are derived with the energy-Casimir method through the projected Hessian matrix of the variational Lagrangian. With the stability conditions obtained, both the linear and nonlinear stability of the relative equilibria are investigated in details in a wide range of the parameters of the gravity field and the rigid body. We find that both the zonal harmonic J 2 and the characteristic dimension of the rigid body have significant effects on the linear and nonlinear stability. Similar to the classical attitude stability in a central gravity field, the linear stability region is also consisted of two regions that are analogues of the Lagrange region and the DeBra-Delp region respectively. The nonlinear stability region is the subset of the linear stability region in the first quadrant that is the analogue of the Lagrange region. Our results are very useful for the studies on the motion of natural satellites in our solar system.  相似文献

Analytic expressions are presented which approximate the Emden function θ, and the associated Emden functions,ψ o andψ 2, and their derivatives, near the first zero of θ,ξ o. The range of accurate representation extends toξ= 1.5ξ 1. This range is sufficient to encompass the boundary of a critically rotating polytrope.  相似文献

The fact that the energy density ρg of a static spherically symmetric gravitational field acts as a source of gravity, gives us a harmonic function \(f\left( \varphi \right) = e^{\varphi /c^2 } \) , which is determined by the nonlinear differential equation $$\nabla ^2 \varphi = 4\pi k\rho _g = - \frac{1}{{c^2 }}\left( {\nabla \varphi } \right)^2 $$ Furthermore, we formulate the infinitesimal time-interval between a couple of events measured by two different inertial observers, one in a position with potential φ-i.e., dt φ and the other in a position with potential φ=0-i.e., dt 0, as $${\text{d}}t_\varphi = f{\text{d}}t_0 .$$ When the principle of equivalence is satisfied, we obtain the well-known effect of time dilatation.  相似文献

By employing the reductive perturbation technique, nonlinear cylindrical and spherical Korteweg–de Vries Burgers (KdVB) equation is derived for ion acoustic shock waves in an unmagnetized electronegative plasma. The latter is composed of warm positive and warm negative ions as well as q-distributed nonextensive electrons. Numerically, the modified KdVB equation is solved to examine the impact of nonthermal electrons on the profiles of nonplanar fast ion acoustic shocks. With the help of experimental parameters, it is found that the variations of different quantities, like q (nonextensive parameter), α (the negative-to-positive ion mass ratio), μ (the electron-to-positive ion density ratio) and θ i (the positive ion-to-electron temperature ratio), η i0,n0 (the positive/negative ion viscosities) significantly modify the propagation characteristics of nonplanar shocks in electronegative plasmas. The relevance to a laboratory experiment is highlighted, where positive and negative ions are present.  相似文献

In this work, I consider the logarithmic-corrected and the power-law corrected versions of the holographic dark energy (HDE) model in the non-flat FRW universe filled with a viscous Dark Energy (DE) interacting with Dark Matter (DM). I propose to replace the infra-red cut-off with the inverse of the Ricci scalar curvature R. I obtain the equation of state (EoS) parameter ω Λ , the deceleration parameter q and the evolution of energy density parameter $\varOmega_{D}'$ in the presence of interaction between DE and DM for both corrections. I study the correspondence of the logarithmic entropy corrected Ricci Dark Dnergy (LECRDE) and power-law entropy corrected Ricci Dark Energy (PLECRDE) models with the the Modified Chaplygin Gas (MCG) and some scalar fields including tachyon, K-essence, dilaton and quintessence. I also make comparisons with previous results.  相似文献

The nonlinear propagation of ion-acoustic waves is studied in an unmagnetized collissionless electronegative plasma, whose constituents are the inertial warm positive/negative ions and q-distributed nonextensive electrons. The latter have strong impact on the linear dispersion relation. However, for nonlinear analysis, a reductive perturbation technique is employed to derive a Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation accounting for nonthermal electrons in nonplanar geometries. Numerically, the effects of various plasma parameters, such as, the nonextensive parameter (q), the negative-to-positive ion mass ratio (α), the electron-to-positive ion number density ratio (μ), the positive ion-to-electron temperature ratio (θ i ) and negative ion-to-electron temperature ratio (θ n ), have been examined on the nonplanar compressive/rarefactive fast ion-acoustic solitons (where the wave phase speed is taken as λ>1). The relevance of our findings involving plasma wave excitations should be useful both for space and laboratory plasmas, where two distinct groups of ions besides the electrons, are present.  相似文献

The non-axisymmetric and nonlinear solutions of the magnetostatic equations are given in three-dimensional space of spherical coordinates (r, θ, ?). These solutions are applied to the large-scale solar magnetic field. Their basic features are similar to a dipole field near the polar regions and the polarity reverses near the equator. These features agree with observations for the large-scale solar magnetic field. The solutions can also be applied to investigating the connection between the structure of the magnetic field and the density distribution of the corona. It is shown that the tops of the closed magnetic field associate with density enhancements. Similar results may apply to the large-scale configuration of the stellar field.  相似文献
