We present the spectroscopy of nova V2467 Cyg acquired at the Loiano Observatory, Italy, during the first six months after the outburst. We have used the optical spectroscopy to study the physical properties of the ejected material and the photometry to estimate the nova distance. V2467 Cyg is a fast nova, with decline rates by two or three magnitudes of 7.6 and 14.6 days respectively. The light curve exhibited oscillations during the transition stage. The nova achieved an absolute magnitude at maximum in the range –8.5… –9.1. The distance is in the range 2.6… 3.6 kpc. V2467 Cyg showed an early appearance of forbidden lines during the transition stage. Its evolution is similar to the behavior of V1494 Aql (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. I report the results of a spectroscopic follow‐up of the nova V1663 Aql performed at the Loiano telescope. The emission lines in the spectra have been identified to study the early evolution. The spectra measured some weeks after the maximum show Balmer lines, several Fe multiplets and low ionization lines. The presence of Fe multiplets confirms the original classification of V1663 Aql as a Fe II nova. I have built the light curve using the observations of IAU circulars, VSNET, AFOEV, ASAS databases to estimate the parameters of the nova: time and magnitude of maximum, and the decline rates by two or three magnitudes. It has been claimed that CK Vul (the remnant of Nova Vul 1670) may be the oldest recovered 'old nova' and as such provides evidence in support of the hibernation scenario for classical nova systems. However this interpretation has been challenged. We present 450- and 850-μm photometry of CK Vul which cast further doubt on its old nova status. It displays a large far infrared-submillimetre flux excess, inconsistent with the properties of an old nova. Furthermore, IRAS images show that CK Vul is located in a 'cavity' in the infrared emission, a feature often associated with planetary nebulae. It seems more likely that CK Vul – and hence Nova Vul 1670 – is (like V605 Aql and V4334 Sgr) an evolved star in the throes of a final thermal pulse.  相似文献

Oscillations observed in the light curve of Nova V1974 Cygni 1992 since the summer of 1994 have been interpreted as permanent superhumps. From simple calculations based on the tidal disc instability model of Osaki, and assuming that the accretion disc is the dominant optical source in the binary system, we predict that the nova will evolve to become an SU UMa system as its brightness declines from its present value by another 2–3 mag. Linear extrapolation of its current rate of fading (in magnitude units) puts the time of this phase transition within the next 2–4 yr. Alternatively, the brightness decline will stop before the nova reaches that level, and the system will continue to show permanent superhumps in its light curve. It will then be similar to two other old novae, V603 Aql and CP Pup, which still display the permanent superhump phenomenon 80 and 56 yr, respectively, after their eruptions. We suggest that non-magnetic novae with short orbital periods could be progenitors of permanent superhump systems.  相似文献

R and I band CCD observations of the nova V1494 Aql during July-November 2002 are reported and the V, R, and I light curves are analyzed. The orbital light curve of this nova has an eclipse-like form with two unequal humps before and after the eclipse. The approach to the eclipse lasts twice as long as the emergence from it. The overall duration of the eclipse is about 0.45P orb. The depth of eclipse increases with wavelength and averages 0m.3 (V), 0m.5 (R), and 0m.7 (I). The secondary, shallow minimum has an average depth of 0m.1 in R and I and about 0m.03 in V. The hump at phase 0.65 is higher than the one at phase 0.17. The most probable explanation for the observed variations in the light with the phase of the orbital period may be self eclipsing of the accretion column in the magnetic exploding variable (white dwarf) together with partial eclipsing of the accretion region by the secondary component.  相似文献

The light curve and spectra of Nova Centauri 1995 (V888 Cen) are analysed. The spectra were obtained a few days post-maximum. The nova is found to be a very fast nova, declining by 2 mag within about 5±2 d of maximum. The light curve shows strong oscillations in the transition region, of peak-to-peak amplitude about 1.5 mag and period 12–15 d. The light curve of Nova Centauri resembles closely that of Nova Aquilae 1918 (V603 Aql).
The early blue and red spectra obtained at Mt John show broad emission lines, many with P Cygni profiles. The absorption lines are found in two velocity systems at about −1765 and −3010 km s−1, in respectively the principal and diffuse-enhanced stages of spectral development, as defined by McLaughlin. Nova Centauri has many Fe  ii lines in emission, indicating that it is a member of the Williams Fe  ii class of classical novae.  相似文献

The photometric monitoring of Nova V 1494 Aql at the Sternberg Astronomical Institute and at the Special Astrophysical Observatory in July and September 2002 has confirmed that the star is an eclipsing system. Its orbital period was improved, \(0\mathop .\limits^d 1346141(5)\). Light elements and eight mid-eclipse times are given. The light-curve shape suggests that the star is an intermediate polar.  相似文献

We present the results of our spectroscopic and photometric observations of the classical symbiotic star V1413 Aql in 2003–2007, which cover the transition phase of its hot component from activity to quiescence. Various quiescence criteria for the hot component of the system are analyzed. Judging by its photometric characteristics, the system had not yet returned to quiescence by 2007, although a fairly strong He II λ4686 Å line observed previously during quiescence in 1993 appeared in its spectrum. We model the continuum energy distribution for V1413 Aql based on a standard three-component model and a model with an accretion disk. Analysis of the forbidden [O III] and [Ne III] lines shows that the neon abundance in V1413 Aql may be enhanced with respect to the oxygen abundance. The cool component of V1413 Aql has been found to be a variable M5-type red giant, with the variability amplitude at λ = 7500 Å being at least 2 m .  相似文献

We present the photometric observations of the old nova V603 Aql with the RTT 150 Russian-Turkish telescope during eleven nights of 2001–2002. We show that the star at this time was in a state with positive superhumps and its photometric period of \(0\mathop .\limits^d 144 - 0\mathop .\limits^d 145\) was longer than the orbital period. We found night-to-night variations in the mean brightness of the system that are consistent with disk precession periods of \(3\mathop .\limits^d 3\) and \(3\mathop .\limits^d 0\) in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Analysis of the results and their comparison with the results of other authors using current theoretical models for disk precession lead us to suggest that the change in the disk precession period was caused by a change in the accretion rate in the system. V603 Aql in a state with negative superhumps was found to be brighter than it is in a state with positive superhumps by \(0\mathop .\limits^m 2 - 0\mathop .\limits^m 3\). We hypothesize that the transition between these states could also be caused by a change in the accretion rate. Quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) of the brightness with typical time scales of 9–70 min were detected on each observing night. These time scales were found to change from night to night. The detection of QPOs with a period of about 0.05 of the orbital period and its multiples on certain nights provides evidence for the model of QPO generation through accretion-rate modulation by ionization-front oscillations on the surface of the donor star near the inner Lagrangian point.  相似文献

We report on the time-dependent behaviour of ultraviolet spectral lines in Hubble Space Telescope Goddard High-Resolution Spectrograph data of the classical nova V603 Aql. In particular, episodic blueshifted absorption (extending to ∼−2500 km s−1) is present, with a variability time-scale down to ∼1 min. The data provide a rare opportunity to study the rapid evolution of absorption structures that may be associated with accretion-disc winds in cataclysmic variables. At least three absorption events are recorded (at blueward velocities only) over ∼5 h, each lasting ∼10–15 min. The derived velocity, acceleration and optical depth properties provide an empirical picture of stochastically variable structures in the outflow, with no evidence for short-term (less than ∼1 h) cyclic or modulated behaviour in the overall absorption properties. In contrast, the emission components of the ultraviolet resonance lines are very stable in velocity and strength in this low-inclination system. On at least two occasions there is an intriguing short-term 'flare' in the ultraviolet continuum flux (of up to ∼40 per cent). Though there is no clear one-to-one relation in these data between the continuum fluctuations and the occurrence of the absorption events, the time-scales for the two variable phenomena are essentially the same. The irregular absorption episodes in the ultraviolet data of V603 Aql presently defy a clear physical interpretation. Their overall characteristics are discussed in the context of instabilities in radiation-pressure-driven disc winds.  相似文献

V 923 Aql is one of the candidateB E stars to be a binary star. In this research, optical and near-infrared spectral measurements of V 923 Aql is presented. V 923 Aql presents variable H Balmer line profiles with shell components. H profiles present R/V, E/C and radial velocity variation. We report the spectroscopic follow-up of the nova V459 Vul carried out at the Loiano Observatory, Italy, at three epochs after the outburst. The spectroscopy showed high ionization lines of iron. The photometry has been used to estimate the absolute magnitude at maximum and the distance of the nova. V459 Vul is a fast nova, with decline times by two and three magnitudes of 18 and 30 days respectively. The nova achieved an absolute magnitude at maximum of ?8.7…?7.7. The early spectral evolution of the nova V458 Vul has been monitored at the Loiano Observatory, Italy. The nova exhibited a couple of oscillations during the decline from initial maximum. We have performed spectroscopic observations to study the physical properties of the ejected material. The photometric light curve has been used to derive the nova distance and its absolute magnitude at maximum. V458 Vul is a fast nova, with decline rates by two or three magnitudes of 7 and 15 days respectively. The magnitude at maximum is M V =?8.8. The nova distance is in the range 6.7–10.3 kpc. The spectra secured a few days after initial maximum showed emission lines of H I and Fe II, making V458 Vul a Fe II nova at this stage. After the oscillations V458 Vul came back to a standard decline curve, but evolved towards the He/N class. Thus V458 Vul is a hybrid nova.  相似文献

We present new results of our UBV photometry for HD 179821=V1427 Aql, an F supergiant with an infrared excess, from 2000 to 2008. The semiregular low-amplitude (ΔV = 0. m 05−0. m 20) photometric variability of the star with a cycle period from 130 to 200 days is caused by pulsations, along with the instability of a variable stellar wind. V1427 Aql also exhibits a long-term trend in the brightness and colors that is probably attributable to a change in the stellar temperature as a result of mass loss episodes, which cause variations in the continuum formation level. We present the results of our JHKLM photometry for V1427 Aql in 1992–2008. We trace the trend in the near-infrared brightness, which agrees with the long-term variability in the V band. Based on broadband photometry, we have determined the color excess for V1427 Aql: E(BV) = 0.7. Based on low-resolution spectroscopy, we have estimated the stellar temperature and revealed variability of the Hα line caused by a change in the contribution from the emission component. The hypotheses of whether the star belongs to post-AGB objects or to massive yellow hypergiants are discussed.  相似文献

The central star V4334 Sgr (Sakurai's Object) of the planetary nebula PN G010.4+04.4 underwent in 1995–1996 the rare event of a very late helium flash.It is only one of two such events during the era of modern astronomy (the other event was V605 Aql = Nova Aql 1919). All other prominentobjects of that type originate from events several thousands of years ago (e.g. A30, A78). Hence, only snapshots can be modeled for those objects.V4334 Sgr allows for the first time a dynamic consideration of the formation of the dust shell from the beginning.We present here a model which is able to describe the complete photometric behaviorof the object, including the fine structure dips of the optical light curve during the first two years of the mass loss and the dust formation.  相似文献

We present high resolution infrared images of the pre-main sequence star V536 Aql and polarization maps of the reflection nebula IRN Cha observed with the SHARP camera on the ESO NTT. Extended structures are observed near V536 Aql. The polarization pattern of IRN Cha is typical of a centrally illuminated source but with a central band of anomalously oriented polarization believed to occur in an optically thick disk.  相似文献

Using Wood's model we have reanalyzed the light curves of the eclipsing binaries QY Aql, V388 Cyg, and HS Her. For QY Aql and HS Her our photometric solutions substantially confirm previous results, thus respectively supporting ansd-d classification and a main sequence detached view. On the other hand, significantly different photometric elements have been derived for V388 Cyg, which is likely to be an evolved contact binary.  相似文献

A review of light curves of known x-ray novae made it possible to identify criteria by which x-ray nova candidates were selected among old novae: amplitude of optical outburst 7–10 m, shape of light curve during the outburst with a temporary fading by 2–3m lasting up to four days and an abrupt final fading from the 6m level (relative to the quiet state). We identified LS And, AL Com, V592 Her, and HV Vir as x-ray nova candidates. Recurrent outbursts should be expected for the first and third stars. Less reliable candidates are V341 Nor, V787 Sgr, and V719 Sco. A possible recurrent nova candidate may be V1330 Cyg. We report the spectroscopic observations of nova V2670 Oph secured at the Loiano Observatory, Italy, 39 days after the outburst. The spectra of V2670 Oph showed auroral lines, suggesting that ionization was increasing. V2670 Oph is a fast nova, with a decline rate by three magnitudes of 42 days. We have estimated the absolute magnitude at maximum and the distance of V2670 Oph. The nova achieved an absolute magnitude at maximum in the interval −7.9,…,−7.4. The distance of V2670 Oph is in the range 4.7–5.8 kpc.  相似文献

We report the spectroscopic follow-up of the nova V5558 Sgr carried out in 2008 and 2009 at the Loiano Observatory, Italy, during the decline stage, as a part of an ongoing monitoring campaign. The spectra suggest that V5558 Sgr has entered the nebular stage, as shown by the presence of high ionization lines, and confirm that it is very similar to the slow nova V723 Cas, as previously suggested. We have estimated the decline time by three magnitudes, 170 ± 2 days, typical of slow novae. We have revised the estimation of the absolute magnitude at maximum (?6.3 to ?5.9) and the distance (1.3–1.6 kpc) of V5558 Sgr, in agreement with previous results. The revised white dwarf mass (0.58–0.63 M) confirms that V5558 Sgr is a critical system whose mass is close to the lower limit to trigger the nova outburst.  相似文献
